i remember talking to my mom in like december and she was very confident in israel and i was like "mom they're doing genocide" and she was like "i'm not comfortable with you calling it a genocide" and i was so frustrated and baffled by that that "how many people would have to die before you consider it a genocide" just came out of my mouth and it was like rhetorical befuddlement and in retrospect i regretted asking it bc it was a bad question but she was like "hmm id have to think about that" and i just think about it all the time like man thousands of people were dead hundreds dying every day and you an american upper class jew who visited israel and proclaimed praise at how "multicultural" it was who can "return" to it whenever you want even though it's never been your or anyone in your family's home have to think about at what level YOU'RE comfortable with it being called genocide. really just exemplifies all of it for me. she and the rest of my family get to hide behind the holocaust as a defense for anything. a genocide isn't a genocide except in retrospect when you can feel comfortable by saying no one could have known (except people did)

Luz and Hunter are Evelyn/Caleb coded and I think it's really funny how the show chooses to be unsubtle about it all the way up until the end of TTT.
[I legit can't see how TOH is supposed to be a subversion of romantic expectations when it constantly beats us over the head with the Caleb/Evelyn = Lunter parallels.]
I rewatched HM last night and this episode in particular never fails to make me WAIL.
1.) "Out of all the Grimwalkers, you looked the most like him"
2,) Luz wearing a jacket that has a big ol "E" on it in an episode that directly parallels Luz and Hunter with Caleb and Evelyn with zero subtlety.
This clothing choice is especially crazy in hindsight because we still didn't know Evelyn's name at this point in time. But the writers did and they made Luz wear a jacket with a giant "E" on it and THEN do shit like this:
OK COOL, THIS IS FINE.
I can see how we aren't supposed to read this as romantically coded, especially when they parallel the paintings with scenes in this episode and they make Luz wear a jacket with an "E" on it. [I am being sarcastic, btw].
LMAO, AND THEN - and then Thanks to Them comes around to officially solidify these parallels by name dropping Evelyn, which makes Luz's jacket choice in HM extremely suspicious.
Oh and TTT also shows us Evelyn was the one responsible for introducing Flapjack to Caleb like how Luz introduced Flapjack to Hunter in HP.
Antis: There are no Lunter hints or Lunter = Caleb/Evelyn coding in the show ur just delusional.
TOH: ... Anyways. [Makes it very clear Luz and Hunter are tied to the story of Caleb/Evelyn and they make Luz and Hunter kiss in a spoiler episode.]
HOW is this show subverting romantic expectations when it keeps laying on the Caleb/Evelyn + Lunter parallels? Especially SAI, which is a spoiler episode with THIS in it.
This show did everything but subvert romantic expectations LMAO. Luz and Hunter are tied to Caleb and Evelyn's story. It doesn't matter if you don't like it because that's how the show wants you to view Luz's and Hunter's dynamic.

Flower was on guard duty and theyre found barely conscious in a pool of rapidly evaporating void. passes out seconds later#PK also had the displeasure of experiencing extene pain and burning as void forced its way out through his skin <3 And his moulds all melted#and evaporated. after the initial shock wears off theyre hit with “Oh No#the vessel“ and rush to find them. Well somebody else was already looking for the royal pair about this#Flower wakes up dazed and in pain in their father's workshop. their stomach hurts their throat burns and they feel lightheaded. the entire#place is considerably brighter than they remember and in they can hear two faint voices in the background but theyre too preoccupied with#examining their now pure white hand in shock to focus on anything else. until they hear their mother say “My wyrm they're awake” and#suddenly their parents are by their side. Now the two have no idea what void leaving their body might have done to them. Are they still#hollow? are they still dead? do they understand anything are they sentient? or was what was done pernament even without the void? do they#have the mind of a child if their sentience was restored? or do they remember anything? So WL stays by their side and helps them sit up#while their father goes to grab his tools. She's trying to keep them calm and comfort them but theyre still too disoriented to pay her much#attention. Until their father checks their breathing and they yelp audibly from the cool metal contacting their skin and suddenly they seem#much more alert. theyve never experienced true coldness before. PK quickly apologises and tries to be gentler with them. Theyre breathing#properly and they have a heartbeat. And he just pauses for a long while just. listening to their heart beating. Many emotions to be had#after the exam's over he asks them point blank how theyre feeling. And Flower looks up at him still seeming a little disoriented. and then#they lower their hand to their stomach and mutter 'My tummy hurts...a-and my throat burns'. It's to be expected after the way the void#left their body. so he goes to grab them some water and meds and they also ask for food and a mirror. And after he returns they just stare#at themself in the mirror and pull on their bangs for a while then blurt out 'I have your eyes' when PK asks if everything's okay. And he#and he almost chokes up as he replies 'Yeah...Yeah you do'. Flower eventually spins a lie that they remember everything but its all distant#and blurry. Like they were not aware until now. They figured it'd be better to not break their hearts#And now the three have to figure out how to be a family while PK is also scrambling to find a new solution to the infection#oops i meant to only give a brief rundown in the tags which is why it was in the tags. but i got too invested KDHDKFB

i finally wrote an xword that i think might be nyt-submittable...i originally wrote it for the local paper though so i now have to go back through and rework the clues to take out the specific local ones and make some of the others harder. i know exactly which day of the week this would run in the nyt (if it gets accepted) because this type of theme always runs on the same day, so at least i know which clue difficulty to aim for, but i'm still finding it difficult to hit that precise level! i'm used to just making the clues as easy as possible because my local paper's audience is mostly people who aren't xword aficionados. i already reworked this puzzle a couple times based on feedback from friends and family but that was all still when i thought i'd be running it in my local paper. i kinda just want to be done with it but i've never had a theme and fill i thought were completely nyt-worthy before!
#i've been thinking that i would write a puzzle that was intended for the nyt from the beginning#but i never prioritize it because the local paper is actually expecting something from me and i have deadlines with them#so this might be the only way it ever actually happens#i feel kinda bad for the local paper that they don't even get my best work haha but also this theme would probably be too hard#for most of their audience (though let's face it probably all of my puzzles are too hard for various reasons)#aw shoot though i just reread the submission guidelines and they're specifically looking for themes OTHER THAN this type#hmmm#cruciverbs#i also wouldn't mind submitting this in collaboration with a more experienced constructor who could help me with the clues#and i imagine such people are always looking for greenhorn collaborators because it allows them to have >3 submissions#in the queue...but i don't even know how one goes about finding such people#if i submit it and they reject it no harm no foul EXCEPT that i don't know how long it would take them to get back to me#and if this isn't going to run in the nyt then i'd still like to run it in the local paper#but also maybe if they reject it they'll be like 'we don't want this but you seem to have promise so here's the email address of#one of our veteran constructors who would be willing to work with you on other ideas you may have'#i just made that up idk if they would actually do that haha but it seems plausible. and wouldn't it be nice?#i do have another nyt-specific idea that i've been spinning my wheels on for like two years#hmm hmm hmm. i think my best bet is still to rework these clues and submit it and see what happens#worst case scenario is they never get back to me. which is a distinct possibility given what happened with my#american xword puzzle tournament previous year solved puzzles (ie they never got back to me >:( )#but that was will shortz. this is will shortz plus like 5 other people. he probably doesn't even see new submissions

i'm having more side quest ideas
#so there is a religion of sorts that's built from the belief that dragons will one day return#and it's that group that sasha is 'warning' his subjects of and what he's blaming the quest on#he's all like 'oh no there's a sub group of Fanatics trying to bring dragons back from the dead you must stop them' but it's a distraction#ANYWAY#i was thinking about other religions that might exist across the continent#and then i was thinking of like. oracle types and the general idea of someone being Chosen#and having to live their life devoted to this one being/idea#and then i thought of freya and her love of knowledge and the way she literally goes through and edits the books in the library#how at least once a week she makes the treck to bruasse just to speak to rue about rivers and water nymphs#how it's her dream to explore the continent just to /learn about it/#and i know i've said in the past that the gods don't really manifest the way you'd normally expect#like maurua literally IS the mountains she is not some personified guardian of them. she is them.#and taiua IS the earth and slovua IS the ocean#but i feel like there are maybe younger gods that could be a little more like. malleable#like how vietua is the night sky but she is also known as the 'mother of all' bc they believe creation started with her#and she's literally where stardust comes from#and i was thinking of that and akoua - education and learning - and thinking of her like. calling to freya#and freya going on some big coming of age like journey that leads to her being this Bearer Of Knowledge like some sort of human encyclopedi#and her becoming some sort of priestess for Akoua and it being a Whole Thing#idk how i'd do it im just having visions#side quests#WHICH ACTUALLY I WAS ALSO THINKING OF SOME SORT OF MIEDNIC / OMOS FORBIDDEN ROMANCE THING#SO TECHNICALLY. I've already had some DNA health testing done for Arthur. I think he needs one more thing done for that that wasn't included on Embark. He's clear by parentage for everything, but I did the generic testing anyway. Then this year I can do the OFA thyroid panel and patellas. I'm hoping to go to the next local eye clinic. Kinda holding out hope for a BAER clinic to pop up, but that doesn't seem common. There is one vet locally who can do it though. Clinics are just way cheaper. I'll have hips, elbows, and spine all done together after he turns 2. That's gonna be super expensive haha but I have savings for it. He'll need his eyes checked yearly. Then at some point if he passes everything, I probably should have sperm count and what not done.
So many things to be done for the CHANCE that my dog might be bred lol. But the people who breed dogs without doing all the health testing? Irresponsible. Horrid. It's a lot, sure, but you have to.
#I'm not even gonna be involved in breeding other than potentially taking his girlfriends for the weekend so he can do his thing#Which will be weird lol#Anyway by my math it might work out to roughly $4800 to 'produce' a stud dog. Including the cost of the dog + health testing#Plus all the money that goes into food and routine vet care and grooming supplies and showing to championship and all that#So yeah when people complain about puppy prices it's SO FUNNY#Do you know how much that puppy cost to produce#Lol you are getting such a good deal#Also btw as a stud dog owner you might get stud fees but you will never 'recoup' all the costs you put into your dog probably#But you don't do it expecting to

I know my opinions are prolly wrong and controversial but I do not care anymore since the show has been over for a good while
So let me just tap into my old knowledge of how I feel about the show and Airy as a character
Alright so yeah I'm on the more extreme side of things of just like Airy didn't do anything wrong ever, this isn't even me being like oh favourite character or anything it's just kinda like I just genuinely do not think he was ever thinking about anything he was doing ever
Obviously he still did bad things but like the thing is, when you DIE you don't really DIE so death kinda loses its meaning and there isn't really that impact anymore of Airy killing people and he had to also die multiple times likely in order to get where he is
So UNDERSTANDABLY there is a lack of connection there, a lack urgency in death @ the Plane once Airy understands how to bring people back
Obviously there is still a LOT of fucked up shit if you REALLY think about it and really connect with the characters and try and feel what they must be feeling BUT to think Airy is this fucked up cold and unfeeling villain aware of his actions is just not it
He just isn't. There. He's not there lmao it doesn't really feel like there is a way to get it through to him that what he's doing is causing problems bcuz it's like a sandbox game for him he doesn't understand that things happen without him that those are PEOPLE existing in his little world that they have lives and are effected by his actions
He only has a connection when he sees Liam in person and like there were other times he showed care and concern but it's a lot more apparent when someone is physically there with you, you can see and feel them and they have an impact on you
Plus he did feel bad about what he had done in the past but there's not really a way for you to properly process that so understandably he just doesn't, like it obviously bothers him but he also doesn't want to be alone and I understand how boredom is a killer
Plus I think he's prolly always been a bit messed up but it really comes out when you've been thru things ur never gonna be able to fully understand or process so you simply don't and just accept things and do things a certain way bcuz you just gotta
#now it HAS been a while since I watched the show so I might be a bit rusty on some of ny info#like Airy just doesn't understand what he's doing is wrong#he thinks people are having fun the same way he is about the game#he TRIES to make it fun he wants everyone to just have a fun time#he's bored! he's lonely! he wants things to do he#he's figuring it out as he goes! and like he's gonna send everyone back home anyway so no harm done!#except he is causing harm to these people#he strips them of their identity he steals them away from their lives and expects them to just go along with his antics#so yeah he did nothing wrong but also he's y'know a bit fucked up you know how it is#I have no ill feelings towards him tho I really enjoy his character a lot#and I love the moments where you can just hear how silly he is it's subtle but sooo good#AGAIN been a while since I seen the show so some of these words may not be entirely accurate to how I feel#plus this is all a story so I'm always more chaotic when it comes to fiction like Yes queen kidnap those people!#Force them to play in ur little show! the only continuity i need from the lupin franchise is for jigen to keep on being the gayest motherfucker alive while still getting more women than any of the bi and het men around him combined
#i watch any iteration of it and im like#you go man you hecking go#i love it#i love everything about jigen but I especially love how women keep on falling on his lap and he's all gracious and chivalrous#but at the end of the day he's still always like anyway back to my deranged monkey#what goes on in his mind we might just never know#EDIT im sorry im still on this but i just watched more twcfm episodes and#what does it even tell you that even in the most aggressively het version of the lup gang#jigen still looks at fujiko and goes thanks but no actually#even all girls are into fujiko in twcfm but NOT jigen i love the way this man is written so much#cause he's like#he does go with women but only if they start if and only if they're genuine about it and ONLY as long as they need it#every interaction jigen has with women is so knight coded it's insane#he reads as someone who's only doing what he's supposed to do because it's expected of him and he likes to help So Much#this is true for all jigen iterations in animation but it's especially incredible in twcfm for me#cause as i said literally everyone aside from the little gay zenigata enthusiast want fujiko in that anime#everyone BUT jigen#and why? cause she can't be trusted? but he's willing to listen to lupin and fight by his side time ten minutes?#this dude turns up anywhere and women fall all over him and he goes along with it too but he STILL reads as gay af insane i tell you
