thinking about it and realizing that most of my most prominent OTP’s from the past few years weren’t originally intended to be couples but came about as a result of actor chemistry/improvisation

like, going back to my 2016-2019(ish) Zoo era—Mitch and Jamie only got a romantic storyline after the writers noticed the actors’ chemistry at initial table reads, and they ended up outshining the actual intended main romance between Jackson and Chloe

in Frasier, the only reason Niles and Daphne were written to be love interests is because the actors played off each other so well in a pre-series photo shoot (or so I remember reading somewhere, not 100% sure about this one)

Abby was initially supposed to end up with Stephen on Primeval, but because she had better chemistry with Andrew Lee Potts, the writers decided to pair her up with Connor instead

and obviously Eddie and Chrissy aren’t technically a canon couple (depends on what you consider canon, really), but their first scene together was much more flirtatious than initially intended due to Joseph Quinn and Grace Van Dien’s improvisations, and they ended up being a pretty popular ship as a result

there’s no real point to this, I just found it interesting that I have a sort of pattern when it comes to my favorite TV couples, I guess lol

So, I don't know if your requests are open or not, but I'd like to request something for TWDG S4. It's basically the Ericsons' kids with an s/o who has naturally cold hands. Like, their hands are always cold even in the summertime. So the reader is kind of self conscious about it when holding hands for the first time. I guess what I'm asking for is the kids' reaction to the cold hands. Like if they'd try to warm them up and all that. Does that make sense? I feel like it doesn't. Ericson kids with a S/O that has cold hands

Characters: Clementine, Marlon, Mitch, Violet, and Louis

A/N: This is kinda hard for me to write since I'm usually the person with warm hands but I'll try my best😭 I also don't own these gifs!

Clementine

Having cold hands was always an issue for you growing up and it hasn't changed. Before it used to be your dad who would warm your hands up for you but when the apocalypse happened you lost him and your family. When you first met Clem she took notice to you having cold hands, how you would always rub your hands together or put your hands underneath your arms or between your thighs. When you guys started dating, even before you guys did, she would offer to warm up your hands for you.

"Cold?" Clem asked as she looked over to you. You were sitting beside her and your hands were between your thighs trying to warm them up. "Yea" You said simply. She smiled and took your hands and put them in hers. She cupped them and put her mouth to her hands and started to blow warm air on your hands. "We should find you some gloves to wear, babe" Clem suggested as she looked at you. You giggled lightly and agreed. "Maybe we can get matching ones" you joked. You could feel your hands warming up already. Clem smiled. "Of course, anything for you."

Marlon

It never really accrued to Marlon that you had cold hands until you guys started dating. He would go to grab your hand and it would be freezing. He would laugh a bit to himself and would warm up your hands without asking, he knows that you'll appreciate it.

"Hey, babe." Marlon would say with a smile as he came up the guard tower where you were keeping watch. You turned and flashed him a smile. "Hey" you answered back and turned to keep watch. He came up behind you and wrapped his arms around you, it was November and it was starting to snow a bit. Your hands started to get colder than usual, fingertips being white, blue even sometimes, from the cold. "How's your hands?" He hummed as he took your hands and looked at them, your fingertips were turning white a bit. You didn't say anything just blushed lightly and you heard him click his tongue. Without a second passing he turned you around and put your hands underneath his jacket and shirt, his skin was warm, very warm. You giggled and hugged him. "You treat me so well." you smiled as you looked up to him and rested your chin on his chest. He looked down and ran his hands on your lower back. "You know, my hands are also kinda cold too." he smirked before grabbing your ass, you squealed, he laughed. He gives it a good squeeze before leaning down and giving you a quick peck. "You going to let go now?" You asked. "Nope."

Mitch

For some reason you were always so embarrassed to hold Mitch's hand. Your hands always being cold and Mitch with his big mouth, you were scared he would be judgy about it.

"Come here" Mitch whispered to you. You guys were supposed to cleaning up the school but Mitch had other ideas. He grabbed into your hand and pulled you into on of the rooms. He closed the door and pushed you up against it, he looked down and then he felt his cold your hands were. You noticed and pulled you hand away with a blush. "It's noth-" "Why don't you tell me you have cold hands?" He cut you off as he grabbed both of your hands into his. He put your hands in between his and looked up to you. "I don't know, it's embarrassing" you mumbled. He frowned a bit before leaning down and kissing your fingers. "Don't be embarrassed, especially not with me."

Violet

Let's be honest, this girl also had cold ass hands. When she found out you also had cold hands she would try and warm them up, even if it doesn't work.

October mornings were always your favorite, even if the mornings were cold. You'd always sit outside looking at the sunrise, loving the feeling of the cool crisp air on your body, even if it did feel like you were freezing. Violet occasionally would join you watching the sunrise and you guys would cuddle and share a blanket trying to stay warm. "Fuck, it's so cold" Violet shivered as she brought you closer to her, her hands were cold on your body. You shivered and got closer to her, you were between her legs looking at the sunrise. "Gimme your hands" you said as you look her hands and brought them up to your chest and put her hands in your boobs. You felt her tense up before relaxing. You brought your hands down and put them underneath her thighs and sighed contently. "Better?" You asked. She nodded and stayed silent for a minute before talking. "Your boobs are warm."

Louis

He finds it so cute that your hands get cold. He loves it that you go to him for helping warming your hands up.

You guys were in bed just staring at the ceiling in silence. You both had just woken up and were laying together enjoying the moment. The room was cold, it's starting to snow which makes the school cold too. And your hands were freezing, to the point that they felt numb. An idea popped into your head, with a smile you rolled over and put your hands on Louis's stomach, making him scream. "Goddamn your hands are cold girl!" Louis exclaimed as he looked at you. You giggle and pulled him into a hug. "Warm me up" you mumbled into his chest, you could feel him shiver from your cold ass hands on his body. It took a second for him to adjust to the coldness, when he did he looked down and gave you a kiss on the forehead. "Always will."

Trauma

Can we talk about Darius being held hostage or kidnapped by Kash because I feel like it didn't get a lot of attention. We saw how Yas trauma effected her In s4 and she talked about with others, even tho I'm upset that it only lasted a few episodes. We didn't see how being held hostage or kidnapped effected Darius.They just said oh let's make this kid be held hostage by a guy who has major anger issues and not even give 5 minutes of screen time to show his trauma. Like come on i don't think we even got to see how affected Darius and Sammy were from Mitch and Tiff.

i get it's a kid show but Darius seemed so unaffected by It an episode later and that just bugged me

Hear me out; I think it's a cool theory/idea that the campers all died. The rest of this post might be a bit dark btw

Really think about it. As the seasons progress, they definitely shouldn't have lasted so long because they're just kids. Here's how I think each kid did/should've died.

Ben: pteranadons, or Toro (s2)

Sammy: Mitch and Tiff, or scorpious

Yaz: drowing (s3 e6)

Brooklyn: killed by Wu/Wu's guards

Kenji: monolophosaurus, mossosaurus (s4), illness (s4), or earthquake (s5)

Darius: sole survivor.

In season 2 episode 1, we see how real Darius' dreams can be when he imagines Ben on Main Street. It's not entirely impossible that he would imagine his friends with him to combat the extreme loneliness and grief he feels after losing them, especially after he tries so hard to get them to safety.

So, what if Darius imagined the majority of the events in seasons 3, 4, and 5? A big point, is that he may have imagined his (dead) friends saving each other at the points where another friend dies. He could imagine Yaz getting the antidote to Sammy, instead of drowning in the dangerous current of the river. Or he could have imagined this big story for Ben and how he survived since he believed Ben's death was his fault. In season 4 episode 1, what if Kenji's hatred for Darius is because Darius actually got Brooklyn killed by Dr. Wu's men? And then, after Kenji thinks of what Brooklyn would want, he dies trying to save Darius from the mossosaurus?

I think that, if my theory were correct, then Darius' guilt would drive him to insanity, and he would imagine a world where he could save his friends and actually get them off of the island.

This would also explain why seasons 4 and 5 don't feel as connected to the first 3, because Darius made up this adventure on a new island to cope with the loss of his friends. Everything is so connected because Darius' mind is tying up loose ends, creating stories from what his friends told him before they died. He imagines storylines for them based on their interactions with him and the other campers, and gave them all happy endings.

I also think that could explain why the time jump wasn't great at the end of season 5. Ben looked different because he died first, Darius couldn't remember his eye color or the little details as well as he could for the others. And, Darius knew more about the imagined version of Ben (Jungle Ben) than he did season 1 Ben, which is why he stayed with Mae and Bumpy on the island. Sammy wears the same shirt all those years later because Darius didn't imagine a new look for her. Kenji moved in because Darius didn't know enough about Kenji's family to envision a life after the island, so he put him into the Bowmans' house.

Obviously, this theory isn't true, but it's interesting to think about. I'd glady go more in-depth if anyone would want to hear that.

Clementine: Georgia feels the utmost fitting for Clementine. Possibly because of the first season, but probably also because of her ‘doesn’t take shit’ yet sweet personality.

AJ: I can see him emerging from Nebraska. Something about that just makes me giggle.

Marlon: Montana 100%. Marlon fits the vibes immaculately.

Louis: California. He’s way too chill and easy going in the face of imminent death to be from anywhere else.

Violet: Wisconsin. I can see her being obsessed with cheeses and the cold.

Mitch: Definitely New York. His aura just fits.

Willy: Florida. He’s crazy and reckless and I think that fits perfectly. He is the embodiment of “Florida man” in the news.

Tenn/Minerva/Sophie: I’m getting strong North Carolina vibes but I have no idea why.

Aasim: Wisconsin. I don’t know why, I can just feel it.

Ruby: I can see Ruby growing up in Georgia. There’s something about her sweet homey personality I can see coming from there.

Omar: Pennsylvania. I feel like he would fit the vibes there and it also kinda makes me giggle thinking about him facing vampires.

Brody: I’m getting Alaska vibes. Something about her being private and often isolated.

i just think a "friended/romanced + saved + trust aj" violet does such a good job rounding out the plot and characters of S4 and i dont say that lightly

she walls people off out of fear just like S3 clem did and learned to grow out of through the compassion of others. feeling like she could have done more to save minnie being what initially makes her step up to lead, but her accepting her love for clem (and clem choosing to save her) is what leads to her Truly accepting the school and everyone inside it as her Home and gives her something to fight for ("i tried my damnedest not to care about either of you. and i still couldnt tell you why." "i know where youre coming from. after losing so many people, sometimes its easier to keep everyone at arms length." "and then you wonder why you fight so hard to stay alive. i dont wonder anymore."). this being the reasoning behind violets detachment from the school, as well as a negative home life impacting her idea of what a home even was. but together they turn ericson from a prison into the home theyve BOTH been looking for, renaming it together, and envisioning it for the future together. the two of them understand each other deeply, from what theyve lost to how its affected them and the poor ways theyve decided to react to it. but through their support of the other, they BOTH get to evolve into more relaxed and confident versions of themselves, who know Exactly what theyre fighting for

her troubled relationship with brody and getting to learn more about what happened with the twins/violets reaction to it and how she ultimately blames herself/brodys guilt about her part in it and how she misses violet. getting the chance to mend that relationship before its too late. the 3 of them becoming closer because of it. and getting to develop clems friendship with brody leads to a more impactful moment later in the basement

her relationship with tenn reflecting clems relationship with aj, in the way they both made the decision to look after their respective boys after their primary guardians died (ajs parents, tenns sisters). both of them can understand the responsibilities they have taken upon themselves, and how hard it can be to do right. the 4 of them become a tight knit group quickly. especially in EP2 as vi supports clem while tenn supports aj through the marlon fiasco

her confused relationship with minerva introducing interesting conflict both within her relationship with clem (who has her own personal conflict with minerva, which vi still ties into through her relationship with both minnie and tenn) and the over arching plot, which has themes of learning when to let someone go because they are no longer who they once were (clem and lilly "we were family once", mitch about ms martin "you get all caught up in who people used to be, and you cant deal with whats in front of you", violet about minnie "the real minnie? shes been gone this whole time and i have to stop mourning her")

having a saved violet on the boat expanding the conversation with minerva about her motivations with the delta. violet apologizing for never looking for her, minnie saying she knows she would have but that its too late now, so sure this is just the way things have to be. getting to hear minnie say "you can be rewarded, just like i am", giving us insight into her character. and clem getting the last word before she rams the door down, her and violet fighting minnie Together. and violet saves clems life, making the Choice to shoot minerva, which in and of itself is a huge moment for violets character in regards to her relationship with both minnie And clem

and aj shooting tenn on the bridge brings things full circle, by putting violet in the same position louis was in EP2, where aj has killed the most important person to her, in an effort to save her life, and now she must reckon with those feelings the same way louis had to about marlon. not so easy now is it violet? ("so youre mad, but sad" "can i be that for a while?" "yeah, its ok")

just... ough... violets whole character just fits into Everything so well, but in a way that elevates the characters and plots around her, while also developing her into her own

in my season 1 rewatch and there's dude and I'm like WHO IS THIS DUDE? HE LOOKS SO FAMILIAR? I mean I remembered the character but had no memory of the actor looking familiar

this is still a very entertaining show, I always thought the politics of it would age poorly and they have, but like, the politics now are so awful in a way even Jack Bauer never anticipated. The presidents on 24 were never anywhere near someone like Trump. Even Logan who was an absolute heel was more of a Mitch McConnell spineless loser who doesn't have morals type than... whatever the fuck Trump is

also the '00s were a weird time for tv because A) it was peak edgelord time period and B) god women were so often written to be the most hateable characters. This is from 2001, I went in expecting with my 2025 lens to have more compassion for, for example, Kim Bauer who was easily the series most hated character. And I did have more empathy and compassion for her... to a point lol like her really choosing to call her first kidnapper to help her escape her second kidnapper? Like the most deeply stupid behavior

but it does not hold a CANDLE to how fucking stupid annoying to watch Teri Bauer is. This woman loses kidnappers in a car chase, parks on the side of a crumbling ravine, decides the best idea is to WALK OUT OF THE CAR TO SEE IF THEY LOST THEIR PURSUER. GIRL YOU ARE IN A FUCKING CAR. WHY WOULD YOU INVESTIGATE ON FOOT? And then the car rolls off the ravine and explodes (Kim of course escapes but her mom doesn't see it) and then we have to watch her have some sort of shock amnesia for a couple episodes and tbh she is less stupid with amnesia.

but you know I am ride or die for Sherri Palmer. not only is she the impeccable Penny Johnson Jerald, but she's so good at reading people for filth that she once bitched out a man so hard for sucking that he dropped dead of a heart attack. and Chloe O'Brian doesn't show up until S3 I think but I am also ride or die for that flawless queen. She was maybe the best written woman on the show. She was unlikable, weird, definitely presented as being on the spectrum and I was SO ready for them to set us up to hater but she turns out to be the most solid fuckin' person. Like Chloe feels like they learned from how badly they wrote Kim and Teri, or maybe she was a fluke idk lol. I also loved Renee and Michelle Dessler made me like. Feel things. Bisexual things.

i feel alot as though i HAVE to like violet, i don’t hate or dislike her character but she also isn’t my favourite from s4. but a lot of her fans make me feel like she is the only likeable girl other than clem from s4 and that clem and violet is the only relationship that makes sense.

It’s a really big problem that season 4 brings not gonna lie.

The girls in season 4 aren’t really dynamic bar Clem, Violet, Minerva(I guess), Lilly and kinda Brody. I feel like you get to know the guys more, which takes away from characters like Brody, who don’t even make it past episode 1, and Ruby, who you speak to like three times.

Whether you like Violet or not, she’s easily the most relevant female character other than Clementine in that season. Her relationship with Clem makes sense in its own way, while Louis’s makes sense in its own way.

She’s hardened, tough and takes a liking to Clem and AJ pretty quickly when they show up, even opening up a little bit when you’re in the dorm. It’s clear she feels comfortable with Clem even after Marlon dies. It’s likely that in the two week timeskip, Clem and Violet spend a lot of time together mapping things out as they’re the defacto leaders.

Personally, I loved Violet’s character and I also loved others. I liked Louis, Brody was good to me, Omar is nice, Mitch was cool. Letting people alternate your opinion on things is dumb. Please, don’t listen to Violentine or Clouis shippers on apps like TikTok, they’re all biased and stupid as fuck, and they think AJ is Carver’s kid and that Jane did the right thing 😭😭 Not a braincell in their minds.

You can like any character you want… maybe not Arvo lol, but you get the point. You don’t HAVE to like Violet, just make sure you place your opinions in places that aren’t filled with idiots who call out your every word. For example, just because you like Violet doesnt mean you hate Louis.

Like Lee said, it’s not like math, sometimes there’s never a right answer.

The “moron” friends and their feelings on each member of the t7s gang

(Discussion I had with @randomwriter23. Not counting Eric in this one since he’s part of both groups.)

Annette: Donna is the only one in that gang she likes, since she’s the only one who didn’t slut shame in some form. She absolutely hates Jackie because the latter slut shamed her and treated her like shit. She doesn’t care for Hyde that much, but didn’t like that he called her “random beach trash”. Doesn’t like Fez because he also slut shamed her and he’s a perv. Kelso, she doesn’t have any hard feelings against him, but feels used since he took her virginity and was just a rebound to him.

Chloe: Chloe hates Donna and Kelso for slut shaming her and hates Fez for calling her “easy”. She doesn’t hate Jackie nor Hyde, but thinks they’re assholes.

Connie: Connie would dislike Donna due to her licking her phone number off Eric's hand along and slut shaming her. She doesn’t care for the rest but thinks Kelso is gross and that Fez is a pervert.

Mitch: Mitch hates Fez for his treatment of Caroline and Rhonda, along with his “greasy ugly hair”. He doesn’t necessarily like Kelso but loves to mess with him. He’s also cool with Jackie when they realize they have more in common than they thought. He doesn’t really care for Hyde and once he gets over Donna, he’s simply indifferent.

Shelly: She dislikes Donna for slut shaming her. With Fez and Kelso, Shelly just thinks they’re weird. Jackie isn’t someone Shelly hates or dislikes, but the latter thinks Jackie’s too nosy at times. I can see her being cool with Hyde and chilling with him, but he’s not like her #1 favorite person or anything.

Buddy: Buddy is *mostly* okay with Hyde since he’s Eric’s brother. Hyde apologizes and explains his attitude. Both agree to be cordial for Eric but aren’t exactly friends. But Buddy burning Kelso is what fully wins over Hyde. Buddy thinks Kelso is a smug cheater, a joke, and the latter’s cockiness turns him off. Yet he can’t really take Kelso seriously enough to actually hate him. Buddy wants to like Fez, but Fez is way too close to Kelso and way too perverted for his liking. Not to mention what Fez did to Rhonda. In terms of s1-4 Fez, Buddy would be okay with him. After s4, though, Fez is hated by Buddy. Buddy and Donna would be cordial, but things would be slightly awkward since he’s dating her ex boyfriend. Aside from that, they’re chill. Buddy and Jackie have been in the same circles their whole lives. But they ended up growing apart due to Eugene and Doris not liking Jack and Pam. When E/J becomes friends, that’s when Buddy and Jackie get close again and become besties.

since you said you're watching dc too, what characters from the o.c. do you connect with what characters from dawson's creek? or ships or other elements or whatever bc eg that scene in s1 when joey talks to her dad in prison really reminded me of ryan visiting trey in s1/his plot with his dad in general (but pls don't spoil anything for me, i know a few spoilers like i know about jacey bc the first few episodes i watched were the s3 ones where jacey starts but i don't know too much yet, like small spoilers are okay but... yeah i think you get the idea, sorry for rambling !)

Joey's dad is a pretty cool catch and it definitely reminded me of the OC too.

For starters, I think Jen is totally Marissa coded (or Marissa is Jen coded). They both have the whole traumatized "bad" girl thing and a lot of things about their story arcs is similar. Marissa also has a lot of similarities with Audrey from the later seasons (also one of my favs).

While the dynamics are completely different, I do think that Dawson and Joey have a Ryan and Marissa quality to them as everyone including their SO's around them can sense that there is something between them even if that drives them nuts. (I think you can say the same about Sethmer and Jacey too but I connect it with RM and DJ more) There are some Pacey and Joey moments that remind me of Sethmer- some Sethmer/Zach scenes actually parallel with late S3 and S4 Jacey/Dawson scenes. Actually S4 Sethmer and S4 Jacey have direct parallels.

While the former is much more rocky and messed up, Mitch and Gail give me Sandy and Kirsten vibes. They actually have some direct parallels, like Mitch's passion for a restaurant.

Now some random observations. Now that I think about it, S3 Taylor has shades of Abby Morgan in her. Seth's Nana and Jen's Grams have some similarities. There's a reveal in early S3 of DC that reminds me of Lindsay. Jen has a storyline in S3 that is totally Sethmer. I also think that I can draw parallels with the college storylines!

what an interesting (but difficult) question! is it too soon to say the monaco eprix 2024?? 😂😂 (I actually need to properly watch it lol, I think I missed quite a lot bc I was so nervous).

for FE I'm still in the process of rewatching races, but there are already so many that I like! they're also a very good length for rewatching 😂 I also have a lot of notes about them which makes it easy to remember. that I've seen in real time, I would say Rome race 1 last year, I felt like that was the first one where I was really into the sport, understanding it etc, and the Mitch win was very good for me (we don't talk about race 2 ok?). of the ones I've watched back (mostly Jev races so far), I really like s4 New York race 1 (where he won his first championship), it just really gets me 🥺. like jev's obvious relief, the message to jules, the hug with andré, all of it is soooo 🥺😭

in general I also love drivers' first wins (Rome s5 for Mitch, Paris s5 for Robin). also s7 Valencia for obvious reasons, it's just hilarious. one race I particularly like to think about is s7 London race 2, it's got everything: chaos, drivers putting each other into the walls, di Grassi cutting through the pitlane to take the lead and later getting black flagged, and obviously Alex Lynn winning (with the obvious bonus of being an alex/mitch podium 🥺🥺) literally what more could you want from a race??

and for F1 I haven't re-watched as many but I'm always a sucker for Monaco 2018 or Abu Dhabi 2010...

and for WEC, every 2021 race where WRT 31 won is a good watch tbh 😂 I'm predictable in that way.

when you put it like that, it's no wonder darius - and the other kids - had such limited trust for authority. the whole sentiment of "if we don't save these dinosaurs, who will?" is there because adults have shown them time and time again, that they cannot be trusted, that they're power-hungry monsters who only want to either save themselves or actively destroy the kids. when you think about the implications of being abandoned on an island full of adults in positions of power and higher capabilities than them, of course they wandered around like confused chicks for several episodes, hoping that someone could save them! why wouldn't there be? after all, people are taught as kids that you should trust adults, right?

so the nublar six trusted them.

and their trust was reciprocated by being abandoned, forgotten, knowingly (by some) and uncaringly left to die. dave and roxie (camp counsellors) stand out because somehow... they're the only two people on the island who demand the kids are kept safe.

and they weren't even older teenagers in the 16-18 range. no, these kids were 12-15. literally younger than me. darius was twelve and had to not only deal with the horrific abandonment issues of being left on an island full of dinosaurs and being entrusted to lead all of them (despite being the youngest) (darius is 12, ben and brooklynn are 13, sammy is 14, yaz and kenji are 15 iirc). and as if that wasn't enough, they're betrayed by eddie, then mitch and tiff - and by then darius has no trust for anyone.

that's why i think it's so amazing how he plays kash. he manipulates him in ways 12-13 year olds should not know how to do. but he's seen mitch and tiff do it to him, playing nice and luring the kids in with all those luxuries, then slowly revealing their true colours until they work it out.

but darius has to be more careful. you can see him get to the root of figuring out kash's personality in minutes. he's so freaking smart!! honestly that scene never ceases to amaze me. manipulation requires you to work out a person's biggest weaknesses and play to that in a malicious way, using that to get what you want. for kash, it was ego. darius clocked that immediately, with how he always flattered him, while also teasing his competitive streak (when they were playing the jurassic world video game). darius my king you will always be so amazing for this.

but that doesn't mean it was a good thing he learned to manipulate people. manipulation is an abuse tactic, but darius never meant it in an abusive way. in fact, that's how he survived being held hostage, essentially, by kash. so he not only had to learn to manipulate (likely copying behaviours he saw in mitch and tiff since the family we see all seem very nice and non manipulative, as well as using his own logic), but how to separate those behaviours from how he treats other people. fawning is probably an automatic distress response for him at this point.

so the nublar six went from sweet, trusting kids, to traumatised kids with pretty severe abandonment/trust issues with skills they shouldn't.

and you can still see it in chaos theory, how they're skeptical of everyone - mateo, zayna and the mballos, barry (the flight guy), nonna, davi, and probably more i've forgotten and more to come in the later seasons. i hope they address this in s4 lowkey
