Sad things that are technically very minor in the scheme of things but nontheless ruin your day all the same.
I spent the last eight hours typing away at a big long post about my blorbo whom I very rarely have the energy or guts to gush about.
I love my blorbo and very much wanted to maybe, just maybe, write something that might cause people who have not thought as obsessively as I have about this character to maybe appreciate their struggles, realize where they might have been unfair to this character and others like them in the past and maybe, in a teeny tiny way help people writing fanfic about my blorbo to actually write them as a character rather than a (cute) set piece that happens to be in their blorbos' lives.
I was under no illusion that my blorbo would become theirs. In all honesty I didn't expect more than like two people to ever actually read it and good odds those two people would still disregard it completely because there are very legit reasons for people to find my blorbo obnoxious or annoying.
BUT STILL.
That doesn't mean I expected some program (that's apparently reset its automated schedule to mid afternoon instead of the 4am I had it) to close all my internet pages as I was still writing them!
Tumblr media
So yeah. I'm just gonna go mope and look at silly memes for a while until I can stop feeling grief over losing my character gushing and I hope anyone potentially reading this is having a much better day.
#sadness over a comparatively minor thing but I needed to vent#the blorbo in question was Morgana from Persona 5 btw#He's a jerk who the game/my people pleasing main character makes into my jailer but I adore him#I wish people would think more about what kinds of struggles he must have navigating a human centric world#while trapped in a form that he doesn't identify as his own and leads everyone into treating him as non human#which yeah he's physically nonhuman and it can't be helped that people not in the know can't hear him talk or realize he's a person#but like#He's a person and its kind of screwed up that the fandom only ever remembers him to rag on or diss his 'insecurity' arc#which is more accurately his 'realizing he has an entire support network to lose and not knowing how to handle' arc#combined with his longer ongoing 'all I have is my identity as me and if I'm not human what is that even worth?' arc#which is different to Teddie's (my fav P4 character) in a few key areas#such as Teddie putting most of the issue on his nature of being nonhuman#whereas Morgana is more terrified of having who he is ignored in favor of the casual callousness of others#and being helpless to actually effect anything in the real world due to being to everyone but MAYBE the PT a cat#(all that said I agree with the general consensus the pre Okumura arc was handled poorly and Ryuji deserved an apology too)#but still#he's a people#If he can get a human form without it being the result of something bad he's totally valid in that#and he still deserves to be treated as a person even if he can't#all of which is more a fandom problem than a PT problem#but just saying#Futaba sweet amazing gift to the world that you are#if I was Morgana and you smooshed my face without warning like you do his#you would probably end up bleeding#(and as a result I would probably end up being thrown out and left to starve or get put down in a pound or something because cat body)#but anyway#first time using a gif#is it alright to just search here and use the ones that pop up or is a bit research first advised?#strangely enough ranting in the tags has made me feel a lot better even if I am still a bit sad#oh neat you can move tags up and down in the order when editing that's neat

“The nonhumans in One Knight Stand are really, really not human.”
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, I can’t wait for how much weirder the changeling mc might get after the veil goes! 👀
Tumblr media
Well, see here for a previous discussion about that. It will also depend quite a bit on the exact type of fae the MC ends up being.
An elf (fae/human hybrid like Morgana/Pryderi/Oberon/Witege) would be quite different from a fullblooded gwraig annwn (Ninianne), or a mari-morgan (Vivian), or a coranyeit (fae that appears in the Camelot dream sequence).

Persona 5: Phantom Cat Pt2
Here we go with Part 2 of the Phantom Cat AU. I'll be covering the Confidants, plot changes, but also the potential of Poppy Playtime being more involved. Let's get started.
If I can sum up the Phantom Thieves' relationship with Joker in one word, it'll be protective. Even the Personas especially Arsène are no different. Ren does admit to once being human but everyone doesn't learn about his tragic backstory until after Okumura's Palace.
You can bet their ass they were disgusted upon finding out Playtime Co's inhumane experiments. It isn't uncommon for Ren to find one or more of his companions lay against him when he loafs around like a giant cat. Something the Thieves' Den makes easier as Leblanc's attic is not that spacious.
Morgana sympathizes with Ren the most. Both of them aren't human and won't be accepted by the outside world for it. Ren was lucky to find someone who raised him with kindness than just free the young man from a terrible fate. They're feline brothers, your honor.
Ryuji, Yusuke and Haru are three flavors of food friends. The former track star sneaking out for a daily run with Ren alongside the occasional ramen or snack food chow downs. His zoomies become manageable thanks to Ryuji. (Sojiro is still reeling from a hyper Ren pouncing on him.)
Yusuke enthusiastically introduces the living toy to the art world since he cannot visit a museum like a normal patron. Ren sometimes find himself being a muse for some of his paintings and usually portrayed as a peculiar enigma. The two always chow down on curry afterwards.
Gardening with Haru anyone? Ren always feel bad about how much money his new family have to spend just to keep him fed. (Futaba had a limit put on credit theft by Sojiro as he doesn't want both his kids to rely on illegal crime to survive.) Something Haru can understand since she has similar issues. The two bond over coffee together.
Emotional support Ann is a definite. The two constantly talk about facing their issues and ways to strengthen their heart. Ren is always happy to lend a ear whenever Ann has problems in her model career or updates about her friend Shiho's recovery. She gives good advice when the giant toy needs help getting Futaba used to the outside world.
Makoto is the socially awkward training partner. Both Ren and her don't have much experience with people outside their friend group so neither know what can be considered normal. The two hammer out each other's issues whenever possible or just vibe together.
All of the Persona in the group do their best to make Ren feel normal every time the group is together thus shenanigans are guaranteed. Carmen and Milady are the wine aunts who endorse the chaos. Necronomicon is his 2nd fellow prankster partner(Futaba is 1st).
Zorro, Johanna and Goemon being the only responsible adults most of the time. Captain Kidd is a sheer chaotic neutral as no one knows whether he'll start something or remain level headed. Finally we get to Arsène.
The poor pigeon hasn't been in this particular element before. Nonhuman Persona Users are a thing so it ain't that. Ren's heart can be considered a massive mess. Whatever was done to make him a living toy, it left something vile behind. Yet Ren continues to defy fate even with the leech latched onto his soul.
Thus Arsène can be a bit more aggressive when it comes to Ren's health. Always near the surface of his partner's subconscious whether to offer soothing words or protect him if needed. In the Thieves' Den, Arsène is usually found snuggled next to Ren with a cover around his knife heels.
Now most of Joker's Confidants are people he has to sought out. A more complicated affair due to not being human. There is actually one more Confidant he has mostly maxxed out and knows about his status: Tae Takami of the Death Arcana. (Yes I absolutely complete the whole thing early just to unlock Alice.)
Sojiro was concerned about Ren's health as they had no clue if or when health complications will occur. Thus it led to Tae becoming his secret doctor as she not only the closest but is trusted amongst the community for her skills. It was a very interesting conversation to say the least.
Now Ren is quite crafty when it comes to establishing his other bonds. Until he could shift into a more human size, Futaba prepared a special plushie with a built in-camera that he can talk through. The excuse being Ren is an hospital patient undergoing recovery after serious health complications and this toy helps him interact with the outside world.
Now onto plot changes, the deadlines alongside their consequences for failure remain the same. It's just not for the first two Palaces. Ren is still captured and put in the Interrogation section. Although it took the traitor attacking from the shadows to injure him enough for police to subdue the Bigger Body.
He's far more beat up, chained and has a specialized muzzle since Ren is a giant chloroform breathing cat toy monster. Can't forget the possibile dissection if he can't escape his fate. The plot for the Third Semester dances around the chance to be human again in his face. Ren doesn't take it of course.
For Scramble, he casually chills in everyone's bags and pull the special patient card to converse with others. Ren can still cook as it's a calming hobby for him alongside gardening. Plus the sight of a giant CatNap in an apron cooking was too hard to resist.
Also yes, I am in the 'Adopt Sophia' group cause she's precious. Especially when Ryuji got to say fuck just to defend her. Sophia definitely calls Ren 'kitty' but he really doesn't mind unlike Morgana. Yes, they do snuggle in the Thieves Den as no one shall avoid the cuddle pile.
Awkward dad Zenkichi anyone? Man absolutely flipped upon seeing Ren as he thought the whole report about 'Phantom Cat Joker' being a giant purple monster was a joke. Nope and you shall get your tired ass dragged into cuddles cause Ren smells stress.
The Persona also get more involved in the shenanigans too. Only Ren's confidants or those who delve into the Metaverse long enough can see much less interact with them. Best to keep Captain Kidd away from fireworks though. (There are special cases but that's for later.)
Before you ask, yes, Joker's main Showtime special is different. Instead of just blasting Shadows with Eiha, Ren breathes out chloroform smokescreen and bursts forth alongside Arséne to come down on their targets like a predator. The attack retains the Curse element but does Physical damage too. A Two in One type combo.
Tactica's plot remains the same however every target views Ren with disgust. All saying there is an 'chimeric abomination' latched onto his heart. The enemies also target him more than Erina and the other thieves.
Speaking of her, she does think Ren is a cat who again doesn't really mind much. Toshiro absolutely freaks out and takes awhile to get used to him. Gameplay wise, Ren is mostly the same except he has more movement options to fit his feline Bigger Body.
Pouncing on further away enemies, inflict Sleep status in large groups, and his Phantom Judge special turns into Phantom Roar. An attack where Ren breathes out a massive cloud of chloroform for Arséne to convert into a Eiha powered explosion. Not only does it do massive damage but also has a high chance of inflicting Sleep status on targets.
Finally we move onto Poppy Playtime. If you guys were paying close attention, then the signs should be obvious. Something is connected to Ren and his past holds the answers. Thus the Phantom Thieves of Hearts visit the Playtime Co Factory to see if they can help their friend. He had been experiencing vivid nightmares which all link to this place.
Now the factory isn't the same like in the game. For unknown reasons, the place has become a pseudo-Mementos linked to the collective consciousness of the various souls who linger inside. Thus the factory has potential to shift anyone in the affected areas in or out the Metaverse side without warning.
A chance of Shadow attacks are not only high but there is a possibility that something even deadlier lurks inside. There are occasions where it is required to travel through this dangerous 'Labyrinth' to progress deeper. (Can't have them blazing through the place.)
Everyone split into two groups so they can cover more ground. Group 1: Ren, Yusuke, Ann, Makoto; and Group 2: Morgana, Haru, Ryuji, Futaba. They'll be encountering characters who not only appear in Poppy Playtime but also Project Playtime. Player character is there too so the Phantom Thieves will meet them.
Guaranteed canon divergence as some of the Poppy Playtime cast might not even encounter the game protagonist. The Phantom Thieves won't ignore someone in need *looks at one particular character* and don't kill their targets. For them, living with guilt for one own sins is a fate worse than death.
New players have entered the game that neither groups could ever foreseen. Can the Phantom Thieves of Hearts solve the mystery and shut down this the factory's immense distortion? Only the phantom cat will determine victory or defeat.

Wildcard AU: So who's the nonhuman character like Teddy and Morgana who introduces Izuku to the strange world of- Nedzu. It's Nedzu, isn't it?
Tumblr media
It's possible. I'm not totally sure what the Tartarus/Mementos equivalent would be for this AU, or how much Nedzu knows about Persona

Finally made a sheet for Morgana! Made her back in May 2021 for Mermay and I've been meaning to flesh her out since then. Glad I finally got around to it!
“If you're just trying to save one loved one, then that's fine! You don't have to save the whole world like your dad. If my blood can help, then I'll happily give it.”
--------------------
Morgana is a mermaid. Merfolk in general are rarely seen on the surface due to their fluids having healing properties when consumed by other races (most commonly their blood). This has made them the targets of those who wish to use them for profit and rarely does the merfolk in question survive the experience. The few that do live on the surface reside in tight-knit communities or in isolation.
Morgana herself is strong, durable, and very stubborn; so everyone who's approached her with ill intent have only spilled their own blood. But this hasn't fully erased the anxiety and concern she feels when alone and she's grateful for finding a place among Triste Makkura and her allies. While Morgana initially agrees to help her because of her admiration for her family's legacy, as well as her empathy for someone who just wants to help a loved one, this feeling eventually shifts from admiration for the legacy to deep admiration for the individual. Triste's stance and fight for the sake of other nonhuman races only serves to deepen this admiration.
Morgana is fiercely protective of Triste and has no issues using her toughness to be the shield of the team, her strength to break apart a tough enemy's defenses, or her blood to be an emergency field medic. Her tenacity is often enough to push her beyond her physical limits which absolutely terrifies enemies. There's nothing quite like seeing Morgana stand back up with injuries that would be too much for nearly everyone else and hitting you just as hard as she did before.
She is likely Triste's most loyal ally and arguably the most dangerous.

11. Are any of you alterhuman? (Otherkin, therian, nonhuman fictionkin, extranth, etc)
I assume so, I don't know what the difference is between alterhuman and non-humans (/fictives), but I assume it's an identity and community, I believe Dawn has looked into androidkin things a bit
In the Butterfly system we have: Some kind of sludge/bog monster (shapeshifter): Ebony, Nayemar Robots/androids: Annette, Dawn, Arabella Winged: Tessa (mutant), Sapphire (fairy), Evangeline (fallen angel) A luminescent planet: Epsilon Mermaid: Aurora Confusing shapeshifters: Gabby, Myr And our fictives: Alice, Clara, Jon, Martin, Morgana, Hermione, Wanda
In other side systems: Khaos: Ahsoka (fictive), Zanna (fictive), L (factive), something non-human is going on with the Khaos trads too
Aeonian: Mouse (mouse shapeshifter?), Grim (specter of death), Sap (tree/planet), Ducky (shapeshifter), Emerald (naga), Thir (data/computer/ai), Sasha (possesser), Koda (a skyscraper-tall, four-legged clock tower), Kadence (possesser but in a different way than Sasha)

Arsene bust-up Pt. 2
Tumblr media
Y'all, that Nintendo Direct yesterday just about killed me, holy shit. So many good titles?? Mega Man, Nier, that weird Harvest-RPG hybrid game, Blanc? Persona 5 Royal and P3P and P4G?? I died and went to heaven, especially 'cause I hadn't paid much attention to any of the other announcements that kept happening throughout this Not-E3-Month. ANYWAYS, have some dumb blushing Arsene as a treat bc I am hyped like anything, and you guys seemed to like my previous set
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(this man is an immediate simp for every pretty face he sees, unapologetically. If you haven't before, really read at least the first Arsene Lupin novel, it's great. A woman he fancies makes pretty eves at him and he immediately returns all of the goods he'd just stolen because he didn't want her to have a bad impression of him.
I love him. He's such a dumb bastard.)
(also, yes, I ship him with Akiren, if my 109k words-long, still in-progress, sort-of DCMK-crossover series wasn't any clear indication.
You can find it here on AO3 if you're interested, in a bout of shameless self-promotion :D)

I think Persona 3 got it right having two nonhuman party members- one who was incredibly vital to the story (Aigis), and one who was there to be cute (Koromaru). The nonhuman party members of later games have tried to fulfill both roles, and probably the only one who really succeeded at both was Sophia.
Admittedly, some of this is because Teddie’s more endearing traits are majorly cancelled out by being raised by teenagers, and I’m pretty sure Morgana willingly gave up his cute appeal so he could have more plot relevance.

Patterns in Trollhunters and 3Below to watch for in Wizards
It’s a bit much to fit on a bingo card, so have a checklist!
Protector and surrogate father-figure, who used to work for the main antagonist, appears to die in a heroic sacrifice at the end of the first season (or, halfway through the series by episode numbers), but is revived/rescued a few episodes later. [AAARRRGGHH, Varvatos Vex]
Woman who appears as a low-level threat in a single Season One episode reappears as a more significant reoccurring threat in Season Two, working with the main antagonist, and is killed off by the end of the series. [Queen Usurna, Colonel Kubritz]
Assassin with power to basically teleport, distinctive yellow eyes, and sympathetic backstory, deserves so much better than the betrayals and abandonment he gets, and is eventually killed by someone he used to work for. [Angor Rot, Tronos Madu]
League of assassins gets wiped out. [Janus Order, Zeron Brotherhood]
Character gets a power-up palette swap. [Jim, Gunmar, Morando]
Time manipulation [Kairosect, time loops, that one novel where the Trollhunter team went back in time, that room in Merlin’s tomb]
Memory erasure [breaking the binding spell, time loops, Morando’s attack inside Coranda and Fialkov’s minds]
A plot-significant artifact glows blue. [Amulet, serrators]
Weapon can compress to ‘fun sized’ seemingly-harmless state. [Daylight, Shadow Staff, warhammer, serrators]
Acquiring and assembling the three components of a device important for accomplishing the protagonists’ goals. [Triumbric Stones, Daxial Array, possibly Seklos’ Cannon but I forget how many pieces that needed]
Three Rules Of ___ [Trollhunting, Changelings, ‘love hunting’, acting human]
Method of disguising nonhumans as humans [Changeling transformation, glamour masks, transduction chambers, that thing Stuart built]
Secondary character’s ex is a sexy badass lady who tries to kill him and the protagonists, not because of the breakup but because they are on different sides of a war. [Draal and Nomura, Stuart and Gwendolyn]
Blue-skinned character does not understand the appeal of kissing. [Draal, Krel]
Acting subplot [Romeo & Juliet high school play, the parents’ improvised play to trick Detective Scott, DJ Kleb movie]
Doctor Mom [Barbara, Izita]
“I’m jealous my sibling/best friend I grew up with has a love interest and is paying attention to them instead of me and wants to share a secret with them that we’ve been keeping together.” [Toby about Jlaire, Krel about Staja]
Character is conscripted into a lifelong job that they don’t want to do, but by the end of the series has come to terms with it and encourages their brother/surrogate brother to stay behind in Arcadia while they leave to fulfill their responsibilities. [Jim being Trollhunter and leaving Toby behind, Aja being Queen and leaving Krel behind; since Steve also stayed in Arcadia, you can swap ‘surrogate brother’ for ‘love interest’ if you interpret Jim and Toby as a ship]
Adolescent protagonist(s) attempting to protect their parent(s). [Jim trying to keep Barbara out of Trollhunting matters and away from Strickler, Aja and Krel trying to guard their comatose parents from bounty hunters and being willing to sacrifice themselves to power Seklos’ Cannon instead of using their parents’ cores]
Characters are faced with tangible manifestations of their deepest fears. [pixies, maybe ‘Unbecoming’, The Deep]
Main antagonist wants powerful item kept in Trollmarket. [Heartstone, Galen’s Core]
Sexy fighter lady who wields scythe-like weapons stays behind to give protagonists time to escape main antagonist. [Nomura with khopesh buying time in the Darklands, Zadra with that double-headed scythe serrator taking on Morando’s forces]
Nougat Nummies [self-explanatory]
Gun Robot [self-explanatory]
Portals [Killahead Bridge, Shadow Staff, the interplanetary wormhole Krel built]
Chess [chessboard in Strickler’s office used for metaphors, Vex making friends with humans he meets via chess]
Interspecies romance [Stricklake, Staja, Vex and Nana, Stuart and Gwen]
Mind control [Draal and the Decimaar Blade, Claire being possessed, Mothership getting hacked]
What The Actual Fuck, Kanjigar? [insistence on working alone results in dying alone and leaving his son desperate to prove his worth, holding the doorway into the Darklands open instead of having Jim reopen it from the other side, creating The Deep to hide Galen’s Core under Trollmarket]
Major antagonist whose name begins with ‘Mor-’ [Morgana, Morando] {This supports the hypothesis Mordred will be involved in Wizards somehow.}
That one bridge everything seems to happen at or under [Kanjigar and Bular’s deaths, the doorway to Trollmarket, Morgana’s fire-cyclone, final battle with Morgana, meeting Area 49-B agents to discuss how to blow up the asteroid, final battle with Morando]
Douxie as a reoccurring minor character with implications there’s something important up with him but we never learn what. [fighting a Gumm-Gumm and saying he’s encountered them before, resemblance of wristbands to those of Merlin’s assistant in crafting the Amulet, giving Aja a highly accurate palm-reading] {I do not expect this to be the case, I just think it would be funny.}
Shannon as a reoccurring minor character with implications there’s something important up with her but we never learn what. [being nominated for Spring Fling Queen when every other nominee was a character the audience had ‘met’ before, just happening to be in the school after hours when Vex met with Birdie, getting progressively more frustrated that her volcano kept being destroyed in the time-loop episode despite supposedly not having her memories of previous loops] {This seems slightly more likely.}
Catchphrase involving gloriousness. [Amulet’s first incantation, Varvatos Vex’s fixation on ‘glorious death’]

January 11th-January 17th, 2020 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from January 11th, 2020 to January 17th, 2020.  The chat focused on the following question:
What’s an unplanned idea you had through your story part way through that forced you to change things?  How did everything go?
eli [a winged tale]
After my beta feedback there were some characters that needed further fleshing out with stakes and relationships. Therefore I had to change some backstories to make certain interactions impactful. Thankfully im at the start so nothing i had to go back and fix. I did think of some alternative openings should the comic goes to print but that can be future me’s worries
snuffysam
simultaneously very little and a huge amount, lol. in terms of big story beats, they've pretty much all stayed the same since i first started planning the comic. the twists have been set up and paid off and the like. but there's a bunch of things i've improv'd at the last minute. one notable example that was pretty well-received - in book 2 chapter 4, taci has a fear of puns (basically only shown in facial expressions and a single comment from mizuki towards the end of the fight). this was added because... otherwise the fight at the end of that chapter is just a bunch of walking around in near-identical dark tunnels. the way the fight ends is fun, but the fight itself isn't really anything. with taci having a reason to be afraid of coruby, the fight has more stakes & entertainment value, and it makes coruby feel much more interesting as a character. another huge example is the love triangle in book 1 - in that in the script, it was non-existent. mizuki being into girls was originally only gonna be introduced in book 2 (guess where), and the relationship between cahe and pejiba was going to advance with no real competition (besides bullets). it was gonna be mentioned in like book 3 that she had a thing for pejiba, but nothing in book 1 itself. (similarly to the pun thing, you may notice that mizuki being into pejiba isn't referenced at all in the dialogue besides pejiba saying "i know what mizuki thinks of me" which is kinda vague. i... don't like changing scripts last-minute lol.)
Mei
Not gonna lie, everything I do is entirely unplanned. I focus a lot on improvised comedy and what feels right 'at the moment', and considering I write scripts way in advance, sometimes it leads to jokes falling flat when I read them again a few months later. Which is all fine, honestly, it's part of the process. The main unplanned idea for My Husband is a Cultist was turning it from a 12 page one-shot into a fully fledged webcomic, now with 3 chapters and more to come. It was very 'on a whim', and from that very first chapter I came up with more silly ideas. And the more I talked to friends, the more ideas I had for chapters. So the biggest change personally was going from a pure slice-of-life comedy and spending time actually building the world around it so that there was structure to the chaos. I'm still working on it all. I now have an underlying plot that I'm hoping to explore, and I have the arcs planned out way in advance. So it's wild that I went from 'random ideas spewed on a document' to 'I now have a plot and several arcs to cover'. That being said, I still come up with a lot of things on the fly, so I'm changing things constantly as I go and hoping that there aren't too many inconsistencies!
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
One of the most important story elements of Phantomarine (http://www.phantomarine.com/) came up early in the second chapter, when I was asking myself some more questions about the world - and came upon a crucial opportunity. Luckily I didn’t have to change too much to make it work, and while it didn’t really change the plot, it upped the emotional stakes 100-fold. Which is just what I wanted. In this world, I have a big naval force, of which my heroine is (was?) the future leader - but with relative peace and cooperation between the different island nations, who the heck does the navy fight? Pirates? Eh, maybe. But vanilla pirates have been done to death, and while they can be awesome, I wanted to do something different. I wanted to tie them into the world’s supernatural element - while strongly avoiding the Pirates of the Caribbean cursed-buccaneer aesthetic. I decided to tie them to a particular blight that affects some of the characters - so as to up their stakes and better convey why they’re societal outcasts. And finally, I wanted to give them a freaking awesome name, something both nautical and supernatural. Thus, for those reading - the Fata Morgana. What didn’t even exist at the beginning of the second chapter is now an absolutely crucial story element, and I’m so happy they came into the picture. They’ve changed everything for the better. This is one reason why I resigned myself to revealing the world in bits and pieces - I’m revealing it to myself as I go along, too. It helps to be slow sometimes
eli [a winged tale]
The Fata Morgana introduction in the story was A W E S O M E! I’m so glad you have them in the story and looking forward to that amped up stakes!
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
I think the biggest example would be the last-minute inclusion of Jonathan as a main character in my comic Dark Wings: Eryl (https://www.flowerlarkstudios.com/dark-wings-2/). I had originally planned for him to be a temporary character that we said goodbye to at the end of Chapter 5. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised the main travelling party needed another character to balance things out. I was really struggling with planning future scenes because the pool of characters felt too small. I also realised that I had developed Jonathan’s character quite a lot for him to be dropped so early. So halfway through drawing chapter 5, I rewrote the second half and he’s now a major part of the cast.
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
A second example is Anor in my other comic, Children of Shadow: Ashes (https://www.flowerlarkstudios.com/cos/). He was originally written as a far less sympathetic character. In fact, he was going to be a borderline antagonist who only became sympathetic close to the end. But my characters often do things I don’t expect, and as I was planning the story, he and one of the other main characters, Rava, started falling for each other. I honestly loved this, and so I reworked the entire story to make Anor part of the main cast and much more sympathetic. He’s still a tsundere, and at the point where the story is now, still in constant friction with Rava, but I feel he’s now a much stronger character and is contributing a great deal more to the story than when he was a vaguely ominous frenemy in the original draft.
varethane
ooooo I am intrigued by this factoid about Anor
re: unplanned story elements, in Chirault..... [spoilers obviously] Ridriel and Trillia being sisters was something that hit me out of the blue about halfway through the story, and I immediately reworked a lot of things to make it happen http://chirault.sevensmith.net/(edited)
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
In ghost Junk... We actually avoided a major character death and had revised it literally a chapter before it happened!! We had everything written out right the the very end, but were seeing the readers reactions and reflected on the importance/and if it was absolutely necessary! So with that said, we saved the character, and kept the necessary impact and growth that it was to bring, and honestly- I'm so happy we did it
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
@varethane Yeah, Anor’s character has evolved a LOT since the first draft.
Phu
With Blackblood, we actually created the 2nd and 3rd chapters and then thought we wanted a chapter ahead of those as sort of a prologue to give some world building and lore elements haha. Worked out well i think! https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/blackblood/list?title_no=300252(edited)
Erin Ptah (BICP 🎄 Leif & Thorn)
This is kind of the opposite, since I did the "include a new thing in the story" part first, and that's what forced me to come up with a previously-unplanned idea to explain it... In Leif & Thorn, I had a character drop a reference to "that country doesn't allow interspecies marriages" before there's any canon reference to nonhuman species that human characters might want to marry. ...and even I didn't know what that species was going to be. Had some vague idea about revealing that mermaids existed, but in my head I never managed to integrate them with the rest of the plot or the worldbuilding real well. A few months later, I finally remember that I like drawing Tiny People (not like hobbit-size, think Borrowers-size), and realize this is the perfect setting to have a Tiny People Species! Now I get to come up with plot-based excuses to draw them wherever/however I want. Plus it opens up a whole new mine of jokes: https://leifandthorn.com/comic/somethings-cooking-26-29/
Can't for the life of me remember where I got this quote from, but there's an author who, when readers would ask for details about future developments in her books, would only give answers with the disclaimer "I reserve the right to have a better idea." Words to live by.

Damn, I love that quote.

Admittedly there isn't a whole lot I've changed, maybe a couple small things here and there, but major stuff has been the same since I started. During the very beginning of the planning phase Daniel wasn't even going to be in the story and Julian was going to be homeless, but I wasn't quite satisfied with it. The story would have been too short, contrived and the resolution didn't feel satisfying. After some brainstorming and reflection on my feelings on certain experiences I've had, I added Daniel and 'The Guide to a Healthy Relationship' as it is kinda fell into place. It's weird thinking about how important Daniel is in spite of how new a character he is. Usually it takes me a little time to build one up before throwing them into a story, they gotta age like a fine wine first, but he popped out all ready to use like one week hooch.
Not sure if it counts, but I've also made changes to future parts of my comic. Like recently, even though I know what the ending is, I put a more final image in my head on what the final frame will look like. Also I changed an event that will happen at some point revolving around Apollo and his friends. Originally something skeevy was going to happen with Brandon and Apollo involving video uploads, and a homemade contract that was signed with Apollo was drunk. I thought it was too... I dunno, stupid? impractical? So I changed it to Julian was going to (unwillingly) attend a party at Brandon's (Apollo's friend) apartment, then some big, jealousy induced fight happens where Julian gets kicked out and Apollo feels bad. I didn't like that either, felt too reaching, so I'm going with another event that is a little out there but does happen in real life and something I have done some good research on.
Gonna be as vague as possible because it's spoilers.

Surprising myself is pretty much every step of my writing process. For good or bad.
I do plan things in advance, but find that sometimes things aren't what they seemed from 15 chapters ago.
I think what it is is this particular comic is such a visual story. I could plan out my previous comic with far greater accuracy. That comic was more dialog-driven; you could convert it into an audio drama with minimal changes, and it would still make sense. Whereas my current comic, you can't turn it into an audio drama without very VERY extensive changes (not even sure if possible... Many silent scenes). So I need to actually draw the pages to feel it out. And I can't draw out of order. Brain just won't that way.(edited)
carcarchu
totally agree with you @keii4ii sometimes u have to actually draw it out to get a feel for it. when i write out all the dialogue for my chapters i feel like it always ends up coming out so stiff, thats why i prefer to let it flow naturally and if something happens that i didnt account for just roll with it and adjust the story accordingly
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
I'm kind of weird about always needing to know exactly how many pages a chapter is going to have, so I script right down to the panel. It can create flow problems on occasion, so I wish sometimes I could plan my pages more visually, but my brain just doesn't work that way. >< It's a good thing my stories mostly rely on dialogue because they're pretty much novels in comic form.(edited)

When planning a scene at the end of Chapter 3 of Whispers of the Past (https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/whispers-of-the-past/list?title_no=191366), I was having a hard time writing the dialogue. I had the images of my lead characters, Agatha and Izrekiel, talking by the docks in the moonlight, and I knew generally what they talked about, but I couldn't script it. And then, one day while walking to work, my characters straight up had the conversation in my head! And as the dialogue unraveled, the characters (mostly Izrekiel) did something completely unplanned (which I won't reveal because spoilers). This unplanned change has completely upped the drama and sexual tension for the entirety of the future story. The second event of this is in Chapter 2, where Izrekiel is helping out on Kelan's farm. Initially, there was going to be some dialogue that mostly served as world-building, but when actually writing the scene, it occurred to me that they would likely not talk too much, too absorbed by the work of harvest. And then, I suddenly visualized/heard Kelan and the other farmhands SINGING. I don't know why it popped in my head that way, but they began singing a working song. Now, I am not a musician, but I used to sing in choir and do musicals and such, and like half my family members are musicians, so I have a bit of a musical background. Anyway, all this to say that the characters started singing, and in response, Izrekiel (who has amnesia) has a flashback to some repressed memory of men marching and singing the same song, with altered lyrics. This can get extra spoilery, so I won't delve too deep into what his memory means, but.... The lyrics go as such: Oh earth, oh rain, Oh sun in the sky, You grant me with your fruit In this land. And they are directly mirrored in the flashback with: Oh strength, oh grace, I'll raise my sword, With victory in mind In this land.(edited)

For me, I totally changed the ending! I was going to make it a tragedy, and then at some point I realized I didnt NEED to... that a story can be happy and good. So, I rewrote a ton of stuff, and actually ended up adding in some new characters! I'd say It's gone very well ^^ I'm much happier with everything now (for one, I can think about the ending without crying!!) I've changed a lot of other little things as i've gone along too. too many things to count, really.

Initially I was writing the story timeline to 5 days but it spanned to something about a year. Which means I had a chance to develop it further than trying to rush plot points. Used to be like 3 chapters originally but now its like ....I guess 20 chapters? I don't remember the full count but lmao I'm ready to endure.(edited)

most of the biggest changes to Chirault were decided on during the first 3 years of me making it..... I completely threw out the first plan I had made, lol. There was no specific trigger for this, except maybe for 'I don't like this, actually'
keii4ii
Oh! I remembered something specific. My tiger character used to have a 'generic lean-ripped' build. Kinda like the rabbit from Juuni Taisen. Then I posted a random beach day picture, and someone (who wasn't used to seeing characters with visible leg muscles... A lot of comics they read have characters who suffer from Skipped All The Leg Days syndrome) pointed out how insanely muscular his legs were. I ran with it. Today his legs are 2x bigger than they were in that beach day pic, and it's all muscle. Also while this character stays very lean throughout the story, I as the author guarantee you that if he were to put on fat, his thighs will be the first to expand, and the most. 8)

@keii4ii I'm so glad for this change. Lu's legs are majestic

Interesting replies here
In o Sarilho https://www.sarilho.net/en/, I have avoided one major character death in the first part of the story because I grow super fond of them and also because it wasn't really going to build up to anything... Which felt really unfair. So now I had to come up with narrative lines for them and I'm quite enjoying that. Furthermore, I was halfway through chapter 3 when I figured out Eurico's looks but especially his role in the story. It involved drawing a lot of trucks (and there will be more trucks in the future) but I'm really excited for him as a character
Desnik
As I was writing my comic I was trying really hard to keep the POV limited to one character, but that character doesn't have enough perspective to set up the plot very well at the beginning. This meant hopping POVs to some other characters and now I'm gently trying to squash a lot of these subplots before they go completely out of control...

[SPECIES DEVELOPMENT] - Relationship / Family Dynamics
I figure it’s important to point out that different species in this series have wildly different relationship and family dynamics.
Examples: - Nuclear families - Single parent families - Families with no parents / siblings raised by older siblings - Children raised by guardians or other family members not parents - Families with more than two parents - Families with different species / half species offspring - Queerplatonic relationships - Couples with no children - Friends raising children together - Couples who got married for financial status / benefits - Harems / polygamous - Villages / herds raising children as a collective group - Children raising themselves
Most humanoid species typically are monogamous but it typically depends on the individual. Humans tend to remain monogamous but fae are more likely to be in polyamorous relationships. Witches are normally more open to polyamorous relationships but angels are more often than not monogamous. Centaurs tend to be in harems because of the horse aspect of their biology. Naga are often in polyamorous relationships but they also raise hatchlings with friends. Selkies are more inclined to be in monogamous relationships.
Nonhuman species are more tricky, especially the rarer kinds. Dragons often are monogamous, mating for life but it’s not unusual to see two dragons who are friends raising a clutch together (same goes for phoenixes). Most of these species don’t really have the option to find a preferred mate. Unicorns, pegasi, and alicorns are all horse species so they’re typically in harems. Manticores live in prides, so harems again.
RYAZAX was raised by Ramswerth (jewel drake) but also Lirva (wyvern), Scarak (naga), Yansur (mermaid), Nerus (elf), and Cassidy (changeling), so she has lots of guardians.
LILITH is an orphan who was raised by her barrack after her parents died.
MORGANA was raised by their father after their mother died.
TAYLOR is an elf who was adopted by a human family.
CORA is a witch who was raised in a coven of witches.
FIN is a changeling who was raised by a witch couple who didn’t particularly care their child got swapped out.
ERIKIA is a Nephilim who got adopted by a lycan and naga couple.
CORRISSA is a selkie who’s trapped in a marriage with a fisherman.
REMSLIEL is an angel who was basically adopted into the royal family, excluding the title.
LIRVA mates with TYRANNIS not because of love but insurance that if her entire clutch dies, she has a fallback plan.
KABARAK mated with RAMSWERTH years back just because she wanted kids but didn’t have a mate.
AKOL is sold into slavery and forms a queerplatonic bond with another centaur on the farm.
ISABELLA and FAUST are in a queerplatonic relationship (Isabella is married to someone).
ZARA and BRUTUS have a... whatever kind of relationship they have. (I’m not really sure yet ^^;).
Basically out with all the nuclear family and constant monogamous romantic relationships!!! There’s more to be explored!!!

Ive always loved the exquisitely angst ridden idea/trope of a immortal/un-ageing char not be able to stop themselves from falling for their mortal lover everytime they reincarnate and having to endure losing them again everytime. So of the two RO's,so Merlin and Vivian(i kinda like the idea of an immortal Arthur having to go through this too), who are long lived how do they handle going through this?
Hmm... well, the nonhuman ROs won't have very 'human' perspectives on this.
Tumblr media
Merlin: This is as its supposed to be. You're mortal. You die. You reincarnate. That's the natural process of this realm of reality. They know that dying can be traumatizing to a mortal, so they're not entirely cavalier about it, but even if it's someone close to them, they're not going to be angsting over it either. (Not unless that person died in such a way that it permanently ^%$ed over their soul).
They actually find the entire process of tracking down someone's new incarnation and seeing what kind of new person they developed into as rather fun. This isn't the first time they've had to do it either.
Vivian: Unlike Morgana le Fay and such, Vivian is a full-blooded fae. If her lover was a mortal, then it's a high chance that she might've been the (in)direct cause of their death. She's different from many of the other mari-morgan in that she does try to go against her instincts and be a beneficial presence in mortals' lives.
That said. She's water. She adapts and flows on. Timeless but lives in the moment. She's highly protective of her current lovers, but that won't stop her from naturally cascading unto the next one either. Even if they do have such short lives compared to her.
Others: It's going to be someone like Arthur (doused in so much fae magic he's basically ageless now, but is still a squishy human) or maybe an elf (who still has human blood and instincts in them) that'd be internally faffing over how short human lives are compared to the fae and how different a person would be between their incarnations (and would the next incarnation even be interested in them?) etc.

I Love You More Than the Prospect of Using You...
...Even if it means losing you.
Hey guys! I’d like to thank the lovely @chillahead-bridge for letting me write fic from their Sentient Weapons AU. This was written for Day Five of @trollhuntersrarepairweek
Claire opened a portal to the Shadow Realm that swallowed both of her former wielders. Her body shook with the effort of keeping Morgana at bay. Her helmet began to phase in and out of reality as her hair gained and lost length, like she was losing control of her form. She cried out in pain, and as she stretched her hand out to create portals that would free her friends Toby thought he could see golden cracks around her eyes.
"TP? I love you, and make sure to tell Jim I love him when he reforms," she said, and her voice sounded choked up. "You guys have five seconds to destroy me."
"Claire, no!" Blinky called out. When he had learned the truth about Claire and Jim, he had vouched for them and the fact that they deserved to be treated as people. When Morgana began to wield her, Blinky had refused to destroy her. He had protested when Jim had been willing to destroy himself so they could find Merlin's tomb. And now Claire was asking for death.
Claire gave them one last blurry-eyed smile before the air around her darkened. "I don't think I'll be around much longer either way."
Claire's body disappeared and reverted into a staff. A portal opened, and golden chains tried to grab for her. AAARRRGGHH! grabbed onto Claire's helpless form before Morgana could.
Toby grabbed his warhammer and rose into the air. He then began a rapid descent that ended in him destroying the Shadow Staff.
The fall ended in him killing Claire.
Jim didn't hate Toby. It would be easier if he did, because they were a trio and had been practically since the beginning of Jim and Claire's very state of being. There was nothing that had been supposed to be able to tear them apart. And yet, Toby was the biggest reason why Claire had been destroyed. It had been his hammer that had shattered her into too many pieces.
Maybe Jim didn't hate Toby because Toby had been the one to have killed him, but they had been headed to Merlin's tomb and he had fixed the amulet so Jim could come back. No one was going to fix Claire - there weren't really any people with the skill required to restore her given just how badly she had been broken. As Jim pulled back from the goodbye kiss, he handed a bag to Toby and whispered in his ear.
"While you were getting treated at the hospital and the trolls were seeking shelter from the sun, I picked up every last piece of Claire. I think she'll be safer with you than with me. I don't trust Merlin around her."
It made sense. Jim was horrified to learn that Morgana's hand was used to create him, both because of the fact that a part of the evil sorceress was a part of him and also because of exact way he had been created. Toby didn't trust Merlin with Claire, but he didn't want Jim to go with Merlin either. He couldn't be sure that the wizard would see Jim as a person and a miracle instead of a tool like Morgana had with Claire. However, the trolls needed a Trollhunter and Jim was the closest there would be to one for the rest of time, so Toby had to let him go.
"I will," Toby said, because if he couldn't protect one of the people he loved he could protect the remains of the other.
There was a scale for nonhumans passing for humans. Changelings, especially older ones like Strickler and Nomura, were at one end of the spectrum, being highly skilled at pretending to be human. The other end was set by Jim and Claire in the beginning, when they had human forms but they didn't even have human names; they were just Amulet and Shadow Staff. However, they had climbed that scale with some amount of grace. Aja and Krel, who were apparently aliens, fell somewhere in the first quarter of that scale. So did the guy who looked old enough to be their grandpa (but was actually their bodyguard) and their dog as well.
It honestly explained so much.
"We have an old phaser rifle that would be able to get through their armor, if it had a proper power core," Vex explained. Aja was holding a device in one of her four hands and was walking around Toby's, Steve's, and Eli's backpacks. When it started beeping, she pulled out a velvet bag that Toby kept with him because burying Claire didn't feel right and he couldn't exactly cremate her.
"This will work," Aja said, and Toby bolted to grab the bag back from her.
"Claire isn't someone's weapon to wield." She had been so much more than that.
Darci's legs were trapped underneath a large beam, and while Mary and Shannon were trying to lift it up and off of her they clearly weren't strong enough. Aja, Krel, Steve, and Eli tried to get closer to them, but they constantly being attacked by robots. AAARRRGGHH! could have lifted it, but it was a sunny day. All the trolls were safely inside, and the one troll who was immune to daylight was tutoring sophomores.
The bounty hunter advanced towards the girls. None of Toby's weapons could penetrate his armor. Not the Warhammer, which was capable of destroying people whose bodies were weapons. Not the phaser rifle. It didn't have a powerful enough core.
Claire wouldn't have wanted this.
"Steve? Cover me!" Toby called out as he ran to a nearby, somewhat sheltered area despite the other boy's indignant protests.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry about this," Toby said as he took out the broken pieces of Claire from the bag that he kept with him no matter where he went. He then took apart the phaser rifle, took out its old core, and placed shards inside of it. Claire, Claire and Jim were so much more than weapons, but when Toby had broken both of them they were just the pieces of weapons. Unlike Jim, who had been rebuilt by Merlin, Claire had implied that she was never to be rebuilt into the Shadow Staff again. That didn't mean she couldn't be recycled into something new.
Besides, she had died to save the world. Being wielded to save her friends sounded like something Claire would, not quite want, but be more-or-less fine with in the end.
"Hey, ugly! Eat a load of this!" Toby called out towards the bounty hunter, who turned away from the girls to face him.
Toby fired the rebuilt phaser rifle. Rather than a epic blast of light shooting out, there was only a puff of dark smoke.
"Is that the best you can do?" the bounty hunter asked.
The area around them grew darker. The areas of the phaser rifle that were normally glowing blue shifted to purple, and parts of the silvery body changed to black. Toby dropped the weapon in shock. That was a good thing, because it leapt out of his hands, glowing and fading in and out of reality. Out of the corner of his eye Toby saw Eli's jaw drop as the phaser rifle changed into the blurred silhouette of a girl.
The majority of her was the same black-as-shadows color, with brilliant purple eyes and the occasional purple streak flashing within her long, writhing hair. However, she was different now. She wore pauldrons and a chestplate reminiscent of her armor that were similar in color to the phaser rifle's, no. They were similar in color to Claire's casing. In addition, there was a crest and series of spikes running down her spine, in a way that mimicked her armor. Her armor would occasionally reflect purple light, but it too was blurred at the edges. However, she didn't have any finger-armor, because Claire's finger guards were the same type of claws as Morgana's and Claire was not Morgana's.
The bounty hunter backed away, likely unsettled by the writhing hair and fading in and out of reality. It was a common feeling that Toby had gotten used to as he had gotten used to living with two sentient weapons.
Claire raised her arms and brought them down like the conductor wielding a baton at an orchestra. Portals ripped open the bounty hunter's armor and the nanobots; others sliced through the beam to relieve the pressure from Darci's legs.
"No, that isn't the best I can do," Claire said to the bounty hunter's retreating form. She then began to collapse. Toby ran over and caught her.
"Okay, nevermind, that might have been the best," she said, violet eyes darting around and taking in the changed landscape of Arcadia Oaks.
"I thought I'd killed you!" Toby sobbed as he carded his fingers through his hair, which writhed in a less violent manner than before. If anything, it tried to weakly hug him.
"You did, for a bit, and you definitely destroyed the Skathe-Hrün," Claire said. "But I'm not Morgana's Shadow Staff anymore. I'm free now."

Yasuo - Morgana - Tryndamere
League of legend champion asks
Yasuo - what is your favorite region of Runeterra?
Bandle! Oh, that’s not in Runeterra now... The Void! Oh, that never was in Runeterra... hmm... Then it’s probably almost any other place out there...
Seriously though, I love the nonhuman places (and races) the most, but since the question says “Runeterra”, I’m just left here with all the places I love almost equally. It’s just, how can you have a favorite, if they are all differently awesome to the same extent? They all have their own flavor, you know.
Morgana - when did you first start playing league of legends?
When Ekko was in the login screen.Given that his release date was 2015.05.28., I’m pretty sure it was around that time. :D
Tryndamere - what was your first skin you owned?
I think it had to be Riot Girl Tristana. I didn’t buy it, I just go it free for liking League’s facebook page.
My first skin that I wanted to buy was most likely Omega Squad Teemo, and to this day, it is (one of) my (two) favorite(s).
The first skin I will actually buy (if I don’t get it from a chest until then of course) will be Dragon Trainer Tristana, and yes, that does mean I haven’t yet bought a single skin from Riot.
