#and not that its a good skill to have for conflict resolution in all your relationships!???
Text
can i also just say that i hate how communication is ONLY ever valued as a thing you do in a romantic relationship? like even when i'm having necessary adult conversations with my friends i'm thinking "oh this is great i'm getting lots of experience for when i'm in a relationship." as if thats why it matters.

i saw your post about one of your 'prepper' skills being stuffed animal making. do you have any more like this? i try really hard to be disaster prepared without falling into Prepper Dude mindset (and i was raised by one, so its especially hard) and its so hard to find resources outside of that sphere of the internet
I find it helpful not to try to imagine some vast possible apocalypse but to start with the smaller disasters that are more likely to precede it: what could I do during a flood? an earthquake? a killer heatwave with vast forest fires? a war? Forget zombie movies and look at what happens during actual disasters.
In these situations, rescue and shelter of large groups of displaced people will be our first priorities. Some of the skills we will definitely need within the first weeks and months are:
All medical skills as well as medicine production skills.
Plumbing and water filtration
The engineering skills to get life saving devices (medical devices, communication, air filtration, etc) up and running and to hook up generators, solar panels, heat pumps, etc.
Child care skills and toy production
Psychological care and community skills, particularly trauma prevention, conflict resolution and recreation.
Food preservation like canning, curing, drying, storing. Since getting actual food production going will take months and is season dependent, our first priority will be to make everything that isn't shelf stable into shelf stable goods.
I am just one person and I'm probably overlooking a lot of things. Luckily I will not have to do this alone and it is fine if I can only do parts of a one or two things on this list.
(The things I can do on this list are sewing stuffed animals, first aid, food preservation and trauma prevention work)

Avoidant
Zoro x Reader
was meant to be fluff, became angst kind to comfort to fluff?
Originally wrote this @mazzieboohoo in my notes app (a girls best friend) instead of sleeping BUT I workshopped it a bit more so here TAKE IT
I don't care if it doesn't make sense that's not my problem
2.5k words
༺。° .ᘛ𓆩♡𓆪ᘚ. ° 。༻
Avoidant.
That’s the best, and probably the only, way to describe your boyfriend right now. He seems to spend every waking moment prioritising his training, and while you aren't all that mad at having the opportunity to watch your EXTREMELY attractive lover show off his muscles as his sweat glistens deliciously beneath the harsh rays of the sun, you couldn’t help but worry about him. Okay… you were also beginning to get kind of - well, more than kind of - jealous at the way a stack of metal was getting more attention from Zoro than you were… no! You are a good girlfriend! So- Mainly you are worried.
Stress and conflicted feelings are gnawing at his heart, it's so obvious, even to Luffy, Mr Oblivious himself! It doesn't help that, in typical Zoro fashion, his choice of resolution is to suppress these emotions at all costs. This was probably the least desirable trait of his, apart from his shocking navigation skills obviously, and you just wish he wouldn't be so difficult when it came to things like this. The whole crew feels like they have to walk on eggshells around him, it's just tiring at this point. His attitude has been hard on everyone, especially for poor Chopper, who sees your boyfriend more-or-less as a father figure and is now convinced that Zoro hates him.
He isn’t himself when it comes to the nighttime either, in fact, this is now the part of the day that you dread the most. He has been making an unhealthy habit of clambering into your shared bed in the early hours of the morning, absolutely reeking of sake. He then becomes completely restless and spends those minimal hours of rest stirring about, keeping you awake while he's at it. Every night you beg him to talk to you about it, and every night he plainly tells you it’s nothing, and goes back to borderline ignoring you. You aren't quite sure what hurts more, the fact that he is ignoring you, or the fact that he is just straight-up lying to you.
“Hey, I’m sure he’ll be fine, you’re worrying too much” Nami manages to pull you out of your thoughts, smiling at you before sitting at your side. She joins you in enjoying the pleasantry of the summer breeze and you can’t help but pout a little at her words. She is right. She is always right.
“I’m not worried, just making sure he doesn’t hurt himself.” you lie, squinting your eyes as you look out at the sun setting beyond the horizon. The afternoon glare makes your head ache a little and you are sure that you're falling victim to, what is going to be, a painful sunburn. Oh well, that's a problem for your future self.
Nami huffs at your pathetic attempt at a lie, before swiftly changing the topic. She begins to talk about how perfect the upcoming weather is going to be for your travels to the next island or something. You know she is just trying to lighten the mood, but you can't really focus. Honestly, you feel nauseous, and there is now a growing pit of anxiety bubbling in the depths of your stomach. You begin to question if it's all your fault, that maybe you are the root cause of Zoro’s distress. This uneasiness spurs in your gut and becomes more unbearable, bile threatening to rise beyond its threshold. You begin to think about how the both of you had only really become official recently, after flirting back and forth for months, and how it had only been since then that he had been acting so… off-
“HEY- are you even listening to me?!?!" Nami yells as she nudges your shoulder. You pretend to draw back in pain, attempting to pull off some sort of comedic relief. It's more for yourself rather than to distract Nami from the fact that you didn’t hear a single thing she said (not paying her attention can be fatal...). BUT LUCKILY FOR YOU-
She just stands, grabbing at your arm to pull you up with her. She now holds your hand and leads the two of you back to everyone else. She utters something about dinner almost being ready and you can't help but to laugh as she enthusiastically declares that it is gonna be the most delicious thing you’re ever going to taste because she ever-so-kindly requested the dish herself. Yeah, she has definitely just used Sanji again to feed her cravings like the girlboss she is🤷
You couldn’t stomach dinner, no matter how delicious it was, and to sweet dear Sanji’s dismay you had to excuse yourself from the table. Unfortunately, the ease you previously felt from Nami’s presence disappeared as quickly as it appeared, and so you now find yourself sitting on the floor of the soldier deck.
The stars are abnormally bright tonight, the full moon stares back at you with a sort of glare that makes it feel as if it's empathising with you. You lean back against the Thousand-Sunny's railing and curl your legs up, hugging them against your stomach. As the breeze toys with the fallen strands of your hair and you gaze upwards into the night, you can’t help but wonder if the myth of cosmic love was true. You can’t help but wonder if you and Zoro shared this connection, or if it was all just a love of convenience for him.
It’s these strings of thought that bring you right back to the day that he had finally confessed to you. You reminisce on how you went to bed that night kicking your feet and smiling like an idiot to yourself. You remember thinking about your future with him, and how, when your heart finally began to calm and you dozed to sleep, you found yourself dreaming of everlasting love. Yes, it was embarrassing and childish, even you’ll admit it, but it was nice to finally feel wanted romantically, especially by someone as stoic and stone-faced as Zoro.
You can’t help but smile fondly, albeit a little sadly, at this memory. If only there was to be a shooting star, so that you can wish to go back in time to this moment, to relish in that feeling of giddiness for just a little longer.
Scouring the night sky for any glimmer of hope, or just for something to distract you from the heaviness adorning your chest, someone’s presence disturbs your failing attempt at finding peace.
Zoro.
He moves to sit with you. A weird sort of tension begins to hang so thickly in the air that you believe you might suffocate. You aren’t prepared for this sudden confrontation, for him to so casually approach you as if he hasn't been avoiding you for god knows how long. Before you can muster up the courage to finally break the silence and say something, he does it for you.
“I’m sorry.” His voice is firm and unwavering, almost intimidating yet somehow soft at the same time. It's as if he never actually intended to hurt you. You should be mad- no more than mad, borderline ready to fight him! After all this stress he caused you, he can only say sorry??? But no. You force yourself to be the bigger person.
“It’s alright.” You pause your thought, now turning your head to look at him. But before you can continue, he interrupts.
“No… it’s not alright” his brows furrow and he returns your graze, staring so deeply into your soul that it almost burns.
“Before you say anything. I need you to know that my shitty actions were not a result of anything you’ve said or done. okay? I know how you tend to overthink.” He breaks his intense eye contact to look down at his lap, almost like he’s hesitant, seemingly taking his time to formulate his next string of words in a way that wouldn’t make you feel guilty. Before he can continue to explain, he pauses. You know that he's expecting your usual snappy reply that's fueled with some snarky remark or joke. That's how you usually respond when a situation gets too serious for your liking. He knows what to expect from you, so when this awaited response never comes, he realises that you must be gathering your thoughts. And so, he decides to give you a few minutes.
He said he knows you. And it’s true, he knows you like no one else does. You really were just overthinking to the point that it was making you a complete mess. A tear of relief slips from your eye as you fight the urge to fully break down. You quickly go to wipe the tear away, but this action doesn’t go unnoticed by Zoro, of course it doesn’t.
“What? Is something wrong with your eye?” God he’s so daft sometimes. His question is so ridiculous that it almost makes you laugh. However, you just can’t control it anymore and more tears continue to flow.
“Hey- are you okay? Why are you crying?”
You feel too stupid and selfish to admit that he was the root cause of your tears, so of course, you lie. Again.
“Well… do you ever look at something so beautiful that it makes you want to cry? That’s how a full moon makes me feel, and it’s extra beautiful tonight…” you attempt to steady your breathing as you fake a smile towards him.
The warmth of his hand moves to sit against the side of your face as he uses his thumb to wipe away a new stream that's spilled over the curve of your cheek. The familiar feeling of his skin against yours is so comforting that it is his touch alone that begins to heal the uneasiness plaguing your heart. And so you lean further into him, welcoming this newfound sense of solace.
“Of course I do, that's how I feel whenever I look at you.”
It's this statement that constricts your throat to the point of no return and forces you to choke out the most pathetic sob. At first Zoro’s visibly confused by this, not understanding why you’ve had such a visceral reaction to his words, after all, he was simply telling the truth. If he feels uncomfortable by your emotional outburst he doesn’t show it. He instead wraps his burly arms around your shuddering frame and holds you so securely that you’re sure you are going to suffocate. But come on, we all know you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now. It’s a common misconception that Roronoa Zoro is too much of a ‘tough guy’ to be affectionate, that he is always too stern for his own good. But this isn't true, especially when it comes to you. Yes, he’s straightforward, overly suspicious at times, and generally a serious guy. But, he’s also loyal, caring, and would die for his crew. Just because he doesn't like to publicly display his gratitude for everyone, it was always there, and his little acts of love for the crew never went unnoticed by you. He knows this about you, that you always take notice of others, it’s part of the reason as to why he loves you so much.
Your body crumples against his torso, weeping into his chest. You can’t help but to apologise, suddenly feeling guilty for interrupting such a rare confession.
“I’m sorry, I’m so selfish for crying…” you say in between stuttering breaths as you attempt to stabilise your emotions. “I thought you hated me. I’m just so relieved!”
He stays quiet, listening intently to you as he runs his fingers through your hair.
“Zoro, please talk to me. I’m sorry for interrupting, please tell me what’s bothering you, I hate that you’ve been struggling alone.” You’re rambling now and your words are being muffled by the material clinging between his torso and your lips. You don’t care. You only pray that he listens to you.
“You care too much about me,” he chuckles softly before pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “The reason I’ve been such an asshole is because I’ve never loved someone like I’ve loved you. I don’t usually worry about this kind of stuff, but I think I'm a bit shit scared of my own feelings.”.
You cradle your head upwards, looking up at him with your now puffy, red eyes. Now you listen.
A deep sigh escapes from his taut lips, “It’s just… the last time I cared for someone. Well, you know how that ended.”.
He doesn’t have to say anything else. The point has been made, and you nod in a sympathetic understanding. His eyes grow glassy, tears threatening to spill through his eyelashes. You’ve never seen him so vulnerable. You don’t want to pry, and you know that words of comfort don’t work on someone like Zoro, so you stay silent, instead opting to reach up to cradle his head into your chest. This change in dynamics is definitely not something he is usually comfortable with, but it’s what he needs right now. This loving action pushes him over the edge, and funnily enough, he’s now the one sobbing into your arms instead.
You both sit like this for a while, with you sitting patiently, drawing imaginary soothing circles on Zoro’s upper back. His tears dried a while ago and you aren’t sure how long it’s been since anyone last spoke, but you’re willing to wait until the end of time if it meant that he could feel a moment of comfort within your arms.
Your reassuring touches do make him feel better. He’s never felt so loved. So cared for. He’s never been the one on the receiving end of a hold so intimate and full of empathy. The idea that someone will willingly listen to him without judgment, that someone can accept his words without forcing a solution.
“This must have been hard, I'm proud of you. Thank you for talking to me.” You finally say, in the softest voice you can muster. He breaks away from your hold so gently, as if he’s afraid that moving too hastily will break you (you are his most precious possession after all).
You both now sit in a weird and quite awkward entanglement of limbs, staring at each other in a newfound sense of mutual agreement of understanding. Everything makes sense to you, and Zoro finds comfort in knowing that his worries have been heard. A win-win some would say.
Neither of you say anything, it's pointless. Words can’t show how grateful you are for one another. It’s like they always say, actions speak louder than words, right?
And so he kisses you.
It definitely isn’t the first time you’ve kissed, but it’s the first time you’ve kissed like this. It’s all-consuming, so filled with love that it’s almost overwhelming, you believe his mouth is heaven; his tongue the eternal paradise. There’s a certain kind of bliss that can only be found in the tenderness of Zoro’s arms, and you wish more people understood saw his soft side, but maybe it's just meant to be your secret to keep. He never meant to be cruel. He just loves you. He always will.

Hiii! I'm here to read your ramble about TK8's story. Personally I've tried to keep my expectations as low as possible. But I still ended up disappointed. So what's your take? Gimme the good, the bad, and the missed opportunities.

Tekken 8 Story Thoughts
hello hello hello. Tekken 8 spoilers ahead, I'll put them under the cut.
First off, I have to say I'm having a really good time. I enjoyed playing through story mode, I enjoyed the character episodes. I'm loving customising characters, I'm looking forward to my fight stick arriving and learning some cool new combos and playing with mates.
Everything feels really nice, looks very cool (aside from some giant shoulders and oddly proportioned necks), and I adore little touches like Jin and Hwoarang getting to wear each other's clothes.
Story mode.
Well, what can I say.
It's as I feared, really. Honestly, all I can say is that there's a deep lack of appreciation for the skill of writing in the video game world. One day, perhaps Tekken will hire people who care about stories, about plot, about character development and character presentation. There is no conflict in the Tekken 8 story. I know this sounds weird given that 90% of it is Jin and Kazuya punching each other, but here's an example of what I mean:
Leo meets their father for the first time in nearly 15 years. It happens off screen.
Lars goes from wanting to kill Jin, to forgiving him. It happens off screen.
Kazuya goes from having life ambition 'kill Heihachi' to developing a philosophy that advocates the enslavement of the world to his will. It happens off screen.
Hwoarang travels back from the Middle East with one eye; Claudio decides to stop being conniving and instead genuinely help Xiao; Lee builds airships and perfects battlesuits; the UN decides to work with Yggdrasil despite Lars gunning down their troops in TK7. All of this happens off screen.
And still Kazuya and Jin do not manage to have a single conversation. The closest we get is in chapter one, where Kazuya accuses Jin of being just like him. Jin fears, rightly, later, that Kazuya is right, but he's essentially told that if he chooses to be nicer, then no they're not the same. There's no consequences for his actions as head of the Zaibatsu, no real conflict between Jin and any of the people he's hurt, not even Alisa, who sits down for a heart to heart with him and never brings up the way he forced her to hurt Lars and spoke of her as merely a tool and not a person. There is conflict in this story but no Conflict. No drama. No points of difficulty that require meaningful resolution.
And instead we have trite versions of a story that boil down Jin's conundrum to one of acceptance of a force that has destroyed his life, literally torn apart his friends, eaten people, and been a source of torture to him. He's told 'just accept it's a part of you!' as if this is about a surface level appearance, rather than a violence that has destroyed everything he loves, and that he can see the consequences of in Kazuya. I think Devil Jin was treated poorly and tritely in this story, and that if one wants a 'redemption' acceptance for this devil power, it has to come with interrogation and recognition of the way it has hurt Jin and those around him. It canonically hospitalised Hwoarang, and there's no awareness of this in the story.
That said, I really, truly loved this line from Jin to his mother's apparition.
Tumblr media
It moved me emotionally in a way that no other video game cutscene has, and for all its misdoings, I'm so pleased this was included in Tekken 8. This is a deeply Jin line to me, written by someone who understands him. Jin's suicidal tendencies have been a recurring theme ever since Devil first awoke, and post-TK6 this is exacerbated further. There's no one on earth who hates Jin more than Jin, and him needing the desire to live as an important part of his strength against Kazuya, is really well done. I wish we could have seen more from Jin conencting with his uncles, Xiao, and Hwoarang to achieve this state of mind, but I commend the sentiment anyway.
When he asked his mother and she granted him the ability to help him, I thought for sure this was going to be about purification. In a way I suppose it was, but I was very tired and unimpressed by Angel Jin. From the overdesign to yet another emphasis on pure violence to defeat Kazuya, I was just completely uninterested. This uninterest was momentarily suspended when they lost their Devil powers, something I thought was brave and interesting of them to do. Somehow this changed absolutely nothing though, and Jin and Kaz don't even pause for a conversation really before they go on.
I do think it's in character for Kazuya to consider his Devil a tool to use for an end, but I think that's much more something he'd say than actually feel. He's had Devil's power with him since he was five years old, and he's relied on it time and again to save him, I think internally he'd be terrified of losing it. Devil is all that's stood between Kazuya and Heihachi for all his life. There's some trite remark about Devil Jin trying to 'protect Jin'. This is only true in so far as DJ awoke when Heihachi gunned Jin down. Devil Kazuya, however, has kept Kazuya alive all his life, and given him the strength to survive in a world where he's constantly been at Heihachi's mercy. Kazuya's desire to live is absolutely what fuelled him all his life, and his need for power comes out of that survival. His infatuation with power grows beyond this, and after Heihachi's death, we see how warped and out of control this grows, but I feel there are deep inconsistencies in the Tekken 8 story because no one ever sat down to really think about Kazuya's relationship with his Devil, and what that might mean for what they were spinning for Jin.
That said, someone was drinking the good stuff when they wrote this:
Tumblr media
This is Kazuya's only good line in Tekken 8, in my humble opinion. It's the one moment where they let him have a tiny bit of actual characterisation. They hint at tying his motivations back into experiences linked to fear and lack of control. It's such a shame, because they acheived this much better in Tekken 7, where they drew clear parallels between the childhood trauma Kazuya faced and his final fight against Heihachi. And yet they leave his motivations again in obscurity in this game, leaving the majority of people, including Jin, none the wiser for why he is doing this other than to be evil for evil's sake.
Why does Jin never ask him about Jun? Or mention that he's been seeing his mother? Why does he not talk about purification linked to being a Kazama? Why has he got so much time for thinking about his own difficulties, but never seeks to ask about Kazuya's? One of the reasons I love Kazuya as a character is because he revels in his own villainhood, and will never volunteer a justification for his actions in the way Heihachi or Jin would. He would rather be seen as cruel than as weak. And it's weakness to him to admit or even evaluate within himself why it is that he needs to be all powerful. But that means that, narratively, he needs a foil to play across from him, and ask the questions that will otherwise never be raised. He needs someone like Jin, or Jun, or Lee, who knows him or has the interest in understanding him, to force him to speak about his past.
There's so much missing from this game, I don't really know where to start. I was discussing this with friends, and we feel like someone on the team had some vision, and was trying to do something interesting, but they were largely shot down at every turn by whoever watched Blood Rebellion and wanted that but 2 hours longer and no cute refridgerator scene.
I can't believe I played all of Tekken 8 and I still don't know if Jun is alive, or why Jin isn't being held accountable for his actions, or why Jin and Kazuya even have any beef. Tekken 7 left us with so many questions and Tekken 8 answers basically none of them. At least they managed to tie more of the cast into this game? But then why did everyone just forget about Zafina and Claudio when they collapsed? Don't they care? Where did Hwoarang go? He got on a bike in that fight then never had a battlefield fight or appeared in front of the Sanctum at Yakushima. Why don't Victor or Raven care about Lars defying them last game? Is Raven salty that Jin blew up a helicopter with him (maybe) and all his men in it? Does Jin hear Azazel return to life? Is he affected by it? That MF was talking in his head for months. If Kazuya could have defeated Azazel so easily, why did he just waltz off in TK6?
I do like the idea that the 'two evil stars colliding' as the end of Azazel being Jin and Kazuya destroying each others devils, forshadowed in TK6 and brought to conclusion here, but all the meaning and interest in this is destroyed by whatever they're trying to do with Reina. I cannot expressed how frustrated I am with her as a character. I suppose perhaps she's from the Devil-Human Integration period of research Heihachi undertook, though my understanding was that he never retrieved Devil cells that were needed for the research, or he would have injected himself with Devil. Perhaps Reina was part of a programme that continued on where Steve and the supersoldier programme were left off. I don't know. I just know that it takes a way a lot of impact that could have meant exploring a devil-free Tekken game in future.
One thing I do Not want to see, is Tekken 9 waltzing in with Kazuya suddenly being a good guy, teaming up with Jin and fighting Reina. Not without serious weight and reflection on his actions, or discussing the corrupting influence of Devil over him. And I've lost a lot of faith in Tekken really understanding their characters or story-writing enough to do this.
I didn't even get on to character episodes, but I think I've rambled enough for one day! Thank you for the asks.

- PERSONALITY -
Unlike Takeshi, who is like a beacon that attracts everyone's attention, Rio prefers to go unnoticed, but once you meet her, she is a sweet girl, warm and optimistic.. She’s dedicated to her friends and very family-oriented.
Growing up in the restaurant environment, surrounded by customers who come and go, has helped her develop skills to deal with people; she quickly grasps others’ limits and knows when not to push them.
She is the type of person who believes that conflicts can be resolved without fighting, although she will not hesitate to raise her weapons if her attempts to defuse the situation do not work.
[ 🔒 There’s information to be added here ]
- NAMIMORI MIDDLE SCHOOL -
Class: 1-B; 2-A
Extracurricular activity: Student Council
Within the Student Council, Rio is part of the Sports Committee that is responsible for the organization of the school's sports clubs. Among their duties are reviewing inventories and responding to material requests, collecting files from students participating in tournaments and events, and organizing other internal sports activities.
Her work is done religiously at each council meeting, but she is not usually there to answer questions about the reports they deliver, especially if the meetings are in the morning... Luckily, no one seems to notice this.
- LA FAMIGLIA (10YL) -
Afiliation: Vongola Family
Position: Family Liaison
As a diplomat of the Family, her duty is to establish and maintain communication with the different divisions and allied members. From simple contact between the guardians when they are dispersed to calming things down when there is something to discuss with different squads, she intervenes in the establishment of new alliances and the peaceful resolution of internal and external conflicts.
Rio’s office is an information center where messages constantly come and go. It is not surprising that part of its workers are dedicated to collecting this information through not so legal means.

My biggest problem with leftist thought, and the thing that ultimately keeps me from considering myself genuinely leftist, is that nothing in the world -- absolutely nothing -- can function without boundaries. We know this from every level of our own lives -- if we don't or aren't permitted to establish and preserve healthy boundaries for ourselves, we will always end up victimized by someone or something, intentionally or unintentionally.
And leftists and leftist communities are honestly pretty good (with exceptions, but *generally* pretty good) at the skills and systems that help people locate, articulate, and maintain boundaries with people they love -- or more broadly, among people who are in an overall positive relationship. That's why the praxis tends to revolve around cultivating Beloved Community, mutual aid, and the like -- because those are the contexts in which leftist practices of consensus, consent, conflict resolution, and restorative justice absolutely flourish. You know the saying about when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail? Those things are the hammer that leftists own; of course they are keen on the idea of a world full of nothing but nails.
The problem is that boundaries are still completely vital, foundationally vital for human life and well-being, when you are among people who do not love you. And the *problem* problem is that the tools and techniques for establishing and securing your boundaries are not transferable. What works within the Beloved Community fails outside of its scope. If it ain't a nail, it simply cannot be hammered. You can *hit* it with your hammer, but you're not going to be pleased with the results.
The world that leftists imagine can *only* consist of a communion of beloveds. They don't have a tool set for dealing with anyone else. At best, attempts to establish boundaries simply fail, and they get run over by their opponents. At worst, they put down the metaphorical hammer and switch over to, as Audre Lorde would say, the Master's tools, and become functionally indistinct from any other ideology enforcing obedience through fear and punishment.
I love the values and vision of leftist movements, but I just can't get past this issue where it seems like they fundamentally run out of ideas when it comes to the hard reality that not everyone on Earth is your friend now, *or ever will be.* As much as I believe we can and should (must, even!) massively expand our communities of care, the notion that we'll one day live in a totalizing Fellowship of All Humankind governed primarily by a worldwide commitment to loving our neighbors -- well, I can say with quite a bit of confidence that I won't live to see the day. And I think people alive right now deserve to hear the best possible solutions *for the world we currently live in,* not the hypothetical world that leftists would be really good at organizing.
Liberalism is obviously not without its shortcomings, but it was forged on top of the ruins of a civilization that had all but destroyed itself through centuries of brutal, relentless violence aimed at eradicating religious, ideological, and political opposition, and its central, powerful insight is that *eliminating your enemies* is not a worthwhile goal. You simply have to figure out how to exist alongside them, and liberalism is, at its heart, a set of contractual principles and functional boundaries that are designed to work while you're living among people you don't necessarily like even a little bit. And that's going to keep being the situation on the ground for a while now -- you will have to resolve conflict in your life more often, and with greater stakes, when you're in confrontation with someone who has not agreed to view you as a loved one. That's when you need the boundary-setting tools of civil society, as distinct from the tools of Beloved Community.
I don't think leftists really have tools appropriate to civil society. They just keep telling me things like "we make us safe," which is beautiful, but like, who the fuck is "we"? Because some of Us are making the rest of us extremely unsafe right now, in ways that we cannot put off addressing! I happen to agree that the *best possible* redress for most of our problems begins with choosing love and solidarity, but that's currently only *barely* actionable in our own individual relationships. It's not actionable *at all* on the systemic level.
And I just don't feel like I have any more time to waste on solutions that can't be practiced. Right now.

The ABA Task Force For American Democracy
The American Bar Association has put together a task force of skilled lawyers to take the "clarion call" and safeguard American democracy against the seriously looming threat of "rising authoritarianism." Inspired by the "noble" role lawyers played in preserving the vote during the 2020 election and put together by ABA President Mary Smith, the task force exists to enable attorneys to step up and defend American democracy. The task force is co-chaired by former Federal Judge J. Michael Luttig and former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Charles Johnson, and it aims to appoint the legal practice to defend the country in this election. Let's break it all down.
Smith originally founded the task force with the goal of, "grappling with deep political divisions and pervasive misinformation about our electoral processes. Through extensive research, community engagement via listening tours and numerous consultations, the Task Force has identified key issues undermining our democratic institutions. Notably, the rise of misinformation, the normalization of political violence and a growing disillusionment with democratic governance."
Among the goals of the task force are to prepare the country for this election, engage in voting and promotion thereof, protect and advocate for election officials and workers, use the legal process to protect the election process, and defend in the war on American democracy by those who'd wish to harm it. Lawyers take an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and the task force aims to utilize that oath to preserve Amwrixan democracy as it is in place now, though it "teeters on a knife's edge."
It's a belief held by the American Bar Association and its members—including myself—that American citizens take for granted the rights held by the democratic process and within the United States. This election is rightfully seen as a test of citizens' support of democracy and the rule of law, and the ABA aims to highlight the importance of upholding this through the new task force.
“Our country and democracy face a wide variety of serious threats, including that of rising authoritarianism,” the Task Force opening report reads. “For the first time in our history, we did not have a peaceful transition of power in our last presidential election.”
The co-chairs note how good lawyers are when it comes to conflict resolution, and it's a goal of this task force to employ those skills this November. It is noted how many lawyers aided in the problem, or at least bore the burden, four years ago, and it's the aim that we can be the major solution this time. The group consists of 30 lawyers, although it pursues an effort to utilize the skills, talents, and ethical morality of 1.3M attorneys nationwide. The ABA hopes to preserve democracy with this task force.
The task force emphasizes the importance of attorneys' advice, stating that it, "must always be faithful to and consistent with the Constitution and laws of the United States and the constitutions and laws of the states in which the advice and counsel is given,” and those who fail to do so will be held appropriately accountable.
“Lawyers have the unique skills and obligation to defend democracy, the Constitution and the rule of law as each takes an oath to do just that. We encourage state licensing authorities to be quick to investigate and act on any such violations, especially when related to our elections.”
Needless to say, I accept the call to action.
The task force officially launches today, August 8th, and I am beyond supportive of the effort.
I really am thrilled about this task force, as I really do take my oath seriously and consider myself a patriotic man and attorney. I am honored to practice law, and I look forward to using my expertise in any way to help this cause. We must protect our democracy.
I'm at your service, ABA—I'll even waive my fees.
That was a joke, but the sentiment stands.
What do you think about this? Let me know.

what fueled you to write that fast?
I would need that help too
endless love ENDLESS LOVE FOREVER AND EVER
that is tos ay i write what i love and i love what i write and i try my very best to enjoy the process and have fun
do it often and youll get faster
have a rough plan in place or even an outline if you can
and you know that rush you get when you imagine your characters doing stuff in an amv or when you chat about them with a friend? you gotta jump into thew riting while thats still buzzing if you can!
plus it helps to have lovely pepole to encourage you, while its also VERY important to make srue not to prioritize ao3 comments or peoples attention over your enjoyment, as long as you can take that part in without working FOR attention and love you'll do great.
think of it like, Wataru
Wataru is doing his acts and all his amazing things for praise
as lovely as wataru is , hes very very sad and he's just trying to be loved <3 so even if he does an amzing job at everything he does, he's not happy unless someone else enjoys what he does! and that can trap you in trying too hard to gain others aprooval and forgetting what you yourself do!
another thing is challenging yourself, if you doubt yourself doing something big and scary like nanowrimo or actually completing an entire book can make the big scary thing not so bad. The important thing there to remember is that anything that can bleed, can die. That is to say, if you can 'cause damage' to somethings hp bar, you can defeat it as long as you keep attacking it! eventually it will fall.
you can write an entire book just fine, if you just keep writing it.
But you gotta give yourself an hp bar for the thing or it can feel overwhelming. personally i go with a "ask a question, answer it, and ask another question" style usually when im writing
usually i would say a good chapter length is about 5,000 words max, and then writing out an outline
for example
Eichi feels ill, why is eichi unwell?
reveal: Eichi is turning into a horrrible magical monster and keito has to become a magical boy to save him
resolution: keito becomes a magical boy and saves eichi!
question: what's going on and how is keito going to save the world from these aliens
(in this case the question kind of sets up the overarching primary plot point- having at least one can help a lot in storytelling but theres so many different ways to tell stories. i like personally really like the 'no conflict narrative' that some japanese stories have, not that they really lack a conflict but its great for slice of life things and can kind of be stretched a lot of ways i think its called Kishotenketsu
but you know, find a method that works for you but the most important rule for writing a lot fast, is to just have fun and be self indulgent, the hardest thing to do when it comes to writing a lot, is make yourself write at all after all, as long as you actually are writing something you REALLY enjoy and like writing, you'll want to keep writing. stay true and honest to yourself and if you hae ONE big scene in mind you freaking LOVE and dont erally want to write the rest you are tottaly allowed to do that. The difference between talent and skill is often passion.
Oh and NEVER. EVER. INSULT YOUR WRITING.
DONT BE HARSH. DONT BE CRUEL.
AND DONT JUDGE YOUR WRITING UNFAIRLY, INF ACT, TRY NOT TO JUDGE IT AT ALL ,JUST ENJOY IT. SURE ITS OKAY TO STUDY AND SEE WHERE YOU COULD IMPROVE AND GROW, BUT DO THAT BECAUSE YOU ENJOY WRITING AND WANT TO WRITE BETTER NOT BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU'RE BAD do it because you love writing and you want to love it even more and show it how much you love it by getting better <3 compliment yourself and your creative projects often
tldr: Do what you enjoy, never insult yourself, and remember to not push yourself to conform to others expectations and praise, but do praise yourself lots and lots <3 source: a lovely writer who enjoys it very much and can truly say they love writing
personally i got stuck in a huge rut by the way a few years back when my mom told me she struggled to get into my writing because i never finished anything and it took me a long time to finally work past that though she never meant anything harsh by it. It took facing nanowrimo to suddenly kick my love of writing back into gear. completing and sucessfully writing an entire actual book proved to me i could.
also on that note one more tip
writing an entire book actually isint that big a deal, its super exciting sure! you should celebrate it! but it's something we put on a pedestal which makes it seem superhuman to complete, but...it's really not. now ive written several books since nanowrimo last year, and you can really see just looking at my fanfictions how heavily beating that helped me. writing is FUN
writing can BE fun
the biggest thing ive ever seen stop writers is fear, shame, and doubt. Same with artists, or anyone else with any skills. love, love , love~ <3
just keep writing, keep loving it, and you'll find that even if you only write a little a day, youll eventually get your goals done <3 any mountain is climbable with patience time and love!

this is nothing more than personal nitpicks and me being petty. here we go regardless
if i were working on sparklecare i would focus less on juvenile jokes and more on giving characters room to be characters and do things in their own way. some anon pointed out the therapyspeak. and yeah, i do get some "they would NOT fucking say it like that" vibes from a Lot of character lines in the main comic as well. they do not have communication skills that good. why are they communicating so well suddenly. kittycorn why are you mischaracterizing your own ocs
the conflict resolutions are not very good and the ending of v4 was disappointing. why was the climax the puppets kissing. was that even necessary. why not explore uni and barry's characters without the barruni spam. they're right there
also, i would revert the artstyle back to its v1 days, maybe even bits of v2. it really did have a lot more fluidity to it than it does now and the backgrounds worked better when they used to be a lot more cohesive (again, in v1). kittycorn would really benefit from taking a step back and relearning anatomy and dynamic stylization. i will forever miss doom's funky eyebrow and their pawn shape
- 🐀
agreed mostly? i dont mind the juvenile jokes as much as i used to, the people complaining about those were more annoying than the actual jokes. i feel like if a barruni volume was necessary it shouldve explored their dynamic in an interesting way that wasnt just constant funny sex haha feat puppets. the puppet being a manifestation of unis negative thoughts was interesting but like imagine if the barry one was a manifestation of barrys. they couldve done so much in the same amount of pages. people bring up "theyre having a character arc" "theyre starting off rocky" whenever i bring up barry being a dick to uni like........ ok???????? why not have that arc explored more???????? acknowledge the rockiness in the actual comic????????
id also have the equivalents of real life conditions referred to consistently. everything has some demeaning codename like "nervous nelly" as in anxiety, "checksalot" as in ocd or "ultra mega sads" as in depression, EXCEPT what kit states kit has. i know a fellow crit blog of mine brought up the fact that "if the doctors called autism some shit like meltdown countdown or stimsalot kit would get in trouble" or something like thatz and they were vouching to have every condition referred to by its actual name rather than some parody, but in all honesty i disagree. i agree with the steps leading up to their conclusion, but not the conclusion itself. i think that having EVERY real world parallel INCLUDING the ones kits been protecting (likely for fear of insensitivity) would better reflect the circumstances of the hospital, that they dont care about their patients. mood was literally writing "dont care! not one bit!" on the notepad when barry was rambling about his science special interest and medical history, this is sorta in a similar vein. (vain? idk)
artstyle honk mimimimi everybodys said that now. i really want dooms eyeliner featured more

To All Of The Members - Kaga Kaede Graduation Messages
To the members I've worked with, as a Hello Pro Kenshuusei within Hello! Project.
Many of the girls working as trainees at the same time as me, were strong willed and didn't want to lose, and that influenced me as well. This isn't limited to those who have now debuted, its the same for those that have gone down a different path.
As members, we had recitals and auditions many times, and we failed many times.
There were so many people around me with such power that I was also able to resolutely do my best.
The people I met after debuting, There are those that are shy, always bright, funny, There are so many different personalities in Hello! Project but, What we all share in common, is the passion we put into our performances.
Everyone likes singing and dancing but, surpassing the boundaries of an idol, From the bottom of my heart, I think that each group is a professional artist.
Every time I watch the other groups lives, "That girl was really great there" "This next new song from this group is good" "I wish I could do something like that" I've talked a lot with others like this.
I think its really amazing that I can like you all so much, despite being rival groups.
I've seen many times, where girls will feel down comparing themselves to others but, I think comparing oneself because you want to reach further, is a way to take thought into action.
I was able to do my best up until now, as I was surrounding by ambitious members. Really, thank you very much.
I think we all have aspirations and ideals, but I want you to move forward with confidence as you as members create a Hello! Project with the charm that only you have.
Also, to all of the members of Morning Musume
I have caused you a lot of trouble. I'm sorry that, I had to take a lot of time off, from being sick this year.
Rairi Our time together was short but, I had a lot of fun watching Rairi's various faces! Also, there is a lot to learn with a lot of skill required I think this was a really tough fall tour but, thank you for doing your best. Since the more time passes the more you forget the difficulties of being a newcomer, I'd like you to stay close to the 17th generation when they join. There will be tough things from now on but, since there are also a lot of fun moments, please enjoy everything in Morning Musume!
15th Generation Your personalities and preferences are varied in you 3 but I seriously think its nothing but charming. I'm not worried about the 3 of you because, you have a clear idea of what you're lacking and what you want, and I know you're going to work hard!! If I were to express one worry: you may be easily influenced and may be taken in by the atmosphere surrounding you, or a single word may make you feel negative. I want you to stick with what you think is right. You will be alright if you consider others feelings and straight-forwardly do your best. I'm looking forward towards your futures!!!
Yokoyama I'm really glad Yokoyama and I are in the same generation. In Kenshuusei we were at the top and bottom, we don't like the same things, Kaga is too indoors-y to meet in private, you borrowed my DVD's and didn't return them (it was finally returned recently) I don't know how we got along at all but, I really don't have anything like, 'I don't like this part of Yokoyama'. Because we respected each other, I think we were able to spend these 6 years working together in a good sense without conflicts. Really, thank you. Although I'm graduating first, I think Yokoyama will be fine, even if your position is more difficult from now on!! lol Thanks for taking over the blog by yourself,,,
12th Generation-san Especially when I first joined as a member, I was just imitating the actions of the 12th generation. That's exactly what is to be a senior role-model, so thank you for always standing in front of me. Until just before the 15th generation joined, we were often grouped as 12th, 13th & 14th generation; we once had a serious conversation, where we thought about what we can do for Morning Musume. I really like that each of you in the 12th generation are pursuing your own personal interests and perfecting them. Thank you very much for these 6 years!
Oda-san I've talked to you a lot from our time as Kenshuusei and even after becoming a member you're a senior who is particularly easy to talk with. Even now we talk about music and anime, I think because its Oda-san, we can continue talking about things deeper and deeper. You can dance, sing and talk, but I'll continue to support you from now on as your lack of tsukommi's may remain the same. (the one who is actively boke←) Lets go to a delicious Korean restaurant again!!
Ishida-san Ishida-san, who would not have thought for even 1 millimeter when I first joined we would become such good friends,,,lol No matter how you think about the start was in Hello Pro Dance Gakuen but, I really really remember Ishida-san saying around that time "I want to talk with my juniors more,". I think its amazing that Ishida-san can think that and take it into action immediately!! I've also thought "I want to talk with my juniors more," as well, but I'm not really good at speaking, but I think its thanks to Ishida-san that we've become so close. For myself, It was Ishida-san who brought a lot of new dance elements to Morning Musume as well. Really, thank you very much. Please call me whenever you want to dance!!
9th Generation-san I often see the two of you like to joke around and have a relaxed attitude but, your commitment to yourself in Morning Musume is certainly strong, we can always feel that "You like Morning Musume" from the things you say towards us. You taught me a lot of things I could only learn from the experience of the 9th generation. Thank you very much. I don't know how much I helped Morning Musume these past 6 years, but I'd be happy if I helped a bit.
Thank you very much for helping me in these 6 years. I will be praying that you'll live happily and healthily in the future, as a fan from now on. https://ameblo.jp/morningm-13ki/entry-12778396054.html

Libra. Art by Linda Lahtinen, from Cosmic Consequence.
Key Words: Tactful, romantic, lazy, extravagant, dependent, sympathetic, partnership-oriented, people person, self-indulgent, social, idealistic, easily influenced, fair.
Pros: cooperative, gracious, charming
Cons: fickle, gullible, indecisive
Description: Libra’s are the most civilised and gracious sign of all. A need for harmonious and peaceful existence with others means Librans develop amazing skills in tact and cooperation. Whilst this is a gift for someone who is able to get along with just about anyone, it also presents its challenges. The compulsive nature to compromise can oftentimes leave Librans in situations that do not serve their highest good. Other times it might be that they will make promises they simply cannot keep, just to stay in good terms. A very social sign, they can seem quite open, but they do in fact keep their cards close to their chest. Revealing their true motivations can risk compatibility. Although, when it comes to conflict resolution, few signs are more capable of building bridges and having a keen sense of justice than a Libra.
This card encourages the querent to find the most fair and equal solution for all. It also asks you to reflect on the give and take of your relationships. Are you giving too much and taking too little? Or are you expecting others to do most of the work?

y'know whats really suprising (at least to me)? that as far as i can tell, nobody has ever made an rvb/tf2 crossover. when ya get right down to it, theyre both about two teams of color coded idiots fighting over nothing in the middle of nowhere who eventually have to deal with grander threats. maybe theyre not exactly ripe fer a crossover due to the differing time periods, but it could be made to work
I wouldn't go so far as to call them crossovers, but at the very height of being into both tf2 and rvb I stumbled across someone's SFM videos with the audio sourced from rvb (taking audio of comedy skits and making SFMs out of them was its own whole genre, so I'd say it was more in line with that trend than a true attempt to cross the fandoms) In all honesty they were...not very good. But my passion was high and my standards were very low so I watched a lot of not very good SFMs during that time anyway.
I did a bit of preliminary searching, and I found some vids with a similar concept (which are also the same level of Not Very Good) but the exact collection of short videos I didn't find. May be lost to history at this point.
Younger me (<== contained not a single drop of SFM skill at the time) often did fantasize about making tf2 SFM animations But Good. I remember distinctly thinking that the "let me borrow the sniper rifle" bit would translate to tf2 so well, and be super funny. Actually! Demo and Sniper's scene in Territorial Control was based on that long remembered joke, arrived through the ages to take on a life of its own.
Circling back to sort of your original point nonny, I love the few times I've gotten to explain rvb to a friend who's only familiar with tf2. The idea that both canons have a conflict of Red and Blue needing to be kept in the dark that they're being puppet-ed by the same organization is so juicy; also, how rvb both takes people finding out both more seriously and less seriously than tf2. How it's both a joke and no one cares, (Tucker about to reveal it, then getting run over by a car and getting convenient amnesia and the plot moving on since it's for a joke and not *actually* a big deal) but then also when it is For Real revealed MANY seasons later, it leads to Sarge's breakdown and crisis of faith. One of my Sadness over tf2 canon is that this level of gravity is never given to the R/B conflict, it's just sort of quietly set aside in favor Mann vs Machine, which is set aside for Fortress vs Classics, which itself is being set aside in the last issue. Red vs Blue proves that you can move on to bigger and more elaborate conflicts, and you could have given a satisfying resolution to the initial duplicity/intrigue of the pointlessness of their whole war.
Anyway, I don't know if any of the rvb cast would get along w the tf2 mercs since their shtick is hating the world and each other, but I do think it'd be funny if the "everyone likes Donut even people who's whole thing is being a bitch" continued into the new canon. All of the mercs are like. Yeah these multicolored space marines who alternate timelined to New Mexico (alternate timelining into other video games is canon in rvb so fuck yeah) suck major ass. But that pink one. I find him oddly charming for some reason.
Texas gets Worf Effect'd. Her canon powers of "can beat everyone up super easily, but always ends up losing due to These Idiot's Hyjinks" absolutely applies when she inevitably fights the mercs.
Sniper takes Church at face value when he says he's a good sniper and is fine with just sitting around and not talking and killing shit. But as soon as they go somewhere to nest up this blue dude will just not shut up for some reason and Sniper gets fed up with him real fast.
Anyway~ most of my thoughts. I haven't been into rvb in a long time but it was nice to jog these old ideas again.

Supergirl Season 1 Episode 2 Review and Thoughts
*Bluey Voice* This episode is called “Let's all make Kara Cry”
Kara: Is this because I'm a-
J’onn: Woman?
Kara: I was gonna say Alien
Yes this is how painful it is every time the writers try being “allies”
*The news anchor talking about Supergirl being a fuck up*
Me: IS that The word with PERDD?????
I do love Kara flashbacks actually aiding her knowledge of aliens on earth
Slightly uncomfortable with how much kryptonite the DEO has just on hand. Also regardless of the dilution/percentage used wouldn’t the rock still like make Kara super ill and in pain??
Yes, let's take the girl who's never been in a fight before and just kick her ass instead of teaching her. Because that’ll make her learn faster?? Instead of just making her feel stupid and isolated. OH but its fine because they weren’t trying to teach her anything other than she sucks at fighting and needs to be careful. Mission accomplished!
This writing is lazy for having 45 mins to achieve something. Especially when it’s obvious Alex didn’t want to tackle it that way. And apologized for it anyways like 20 mins later.
I understand conflict resolution. What I can’t forgive is just writing characters however is convenient to your episodic plot
Wow episode two is all about lets make Kara fucking cry huh? Thats it thats the title of this review
Okay so Cat Grant’s speech was actually really good. I’d say probably one of the best parts of the episode actually
Like it bit. It was painful to hear and to watch Kara hear. But it was actually informative and motivating. And more helpful than anyone else has been so far to Kara’s journey. Alex has mostly been unsupportive, making Kara feel bad about the whole thing, and trying to push her back into normalcy. Winn and James have been supportive for sure helping her with the costume, talking her feelings out, and even helping her find crimes to handle. But no one has given her any advice. I’m looking at you Clark. No one has jumped in to say “Hey you know what would be a good idea? Or what you should do?” She’s been very isolated in her decision making. Which I dunno, maybe thats just normal adulthood. But it certainly feels lonely.
I like that Ms.Grant is Kara’s irritable fairy godmother/voice of reason character. It’s actually interesting because it contrasts Kara’s sunshine nature so hard. You expect Ms.Grant to put her down or to try to diminish her ambitions. But on some level you can see the genuine care she has for her assistant. And how she does uplift her and give her advice quite often. So far she’s one of the only people to put something into Kara not take away.
Gotta love Winn and James meeting in the alley and treating each other like an awkward hook up you’d rather not talk to right now
Not a huge fan of Kara's only friends both being dudes who are into her and are probably going to end up competing with each other. I’d really love for the girl to just have some regular friends who care about her and don’t want anything in return.
Which kind of adds to my thoughts on the writer's attempts at being feminist allies. Why spend all that time writing bad “is it because I’m a girl” one liners when you’re just going to make her just a girl anyways. Why try so hard to be like “We’re doing it! We’re writing a show about Supergirl a woman!!!” When you’re going to take the only two friends she has and make them romantically interested in her just because they’re both men?
It’s eye rolling
I appreciate the boys tag teaming to help her though
Not bicurious Winn lol
“I ahhhh helped make that outfit” Looking into James eyes with like 3 inches between them
“I got some mad sewing skills” awkward flirting noted
Ohhhh more super hero montages to hit me with your best shot!
I love all the classic crimes from bank robbery to car chase to rescuing a pet from a tree
Autism headcanon is holding up
Baby Kara scared of the popcorn maker. Thats audio sensitivity bitchhh
Can we talk about the fact that the DEO has government possession of the craft that got Kara here? And like how weirdly invading that is. Clarks ship had message crystals in his. Information and wisdom to help him on Earth. It was the first contact he really had with his heritage.
For Kara it's like the last thing her family gave her. I mean Alex brought that message from her mother in ep 1, where do you think she got it? Karas ship obviously
Like you don’t think Kara would have loved to here that message like 10 fucking years ago? Would have loved to hear her mothers voice again 10 years ago? Would have cried herself asleep with at least evidence of her home.
The fact that the DEO just confiscated her shit and hasn’t even relinquished it back to her as an adult is sickening to me.
Gotta love the government “shoot it shoot it now with lots of guns” that'll get that alien done in just fine
I really love this common ground between Kara and James about being in Clark’s shadow. That's a really good place to start for their relationship, and I’m curious to see them relate more over it
“Growing up, I was taught that to accept help from people is not a shame, it’s an honor” - Kara
I have a feeling this is something that will be ignored or something she will struggle with in the future
AHHH “El Meyarah” Stronger Together
Okay I get it. Shes different from Clark. She wants super friends. I gotcha I gotcha
Not Kara educating James on Krypton when Clark don't know shitttttt
Alex dont fucking reveal you know shit holy fuck dude thats like first rule of secret ops. Bitch really just started running her mouth immediately
I love this idea of Twins being rare on Krypton because of the matrix. Why would it make a copy when it already made what it needed?
Fight scene between Kara and her Aunt was good, but that was some bullshit about Kara actually learning from Alex and their “training” session earlier in the episode. You can’t act like she learned something when no one taught her anything!
I don’t like how quick to adapt Kara is about the whole Aunt Astra thing. That's a pretty big deal wtf
Alex: My parents had me prepared to deal with you being really sad and fucked up because your whole planet got destroyed. But then you were like super happy and not sad at all! You’ve always been like that tee hee
Sounds like Kara was really good at hiding all her sadness as a kid dude. Big oof
I like that Alex and Kara are going to work on defense stuff in the future and it's a mutual decision
I just realized that Clark never took Kara to the Fortress of Solitude  >:[
Love Alex introducing Kara to her Living Memory mother. But fuck this is torturesome. Again Clark has his crystal ai Dad. But it's like that's obviously not his father, that's not Jonathan. Jor-El is there to help him learn about Krypton. To understand the history, ability, and nature of his people. A people he doesn’t know. Jor-El isn’t a parent he goes to for comfort or advice. He’s an informant, a wise man.
For Kara that living memory is like a reminder. A reminder of everything she's lost. Of something that she will never have again. It's almost cruel. To come to it seeking guidance and affection, and not being able to receive that. Only information and calculations.
You may say “But her foster parents! Her sister!” I’m not saying they aren’t her family, but if you’ve never had your family taken from you in some way, you won’t understand that it's just not the same.
That's totally general Zod isnt it
Gotta love Kara picking Cat Grant's car up for her interview

The Importance of Communication Skills: A Key to Success in Life
Communication is the lifeblood of human interaction, influencing every aspect of our lives. Whether in personal relationships or professional settings, the ability to communicate effectively is crucial for success and fulfillment. In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, strong communication skills are more important than ever. This article explores the significance of communication skills, their impact on various aspects of life, and how they can be developed and refined.
The Role of Communication in Daily Life
At its core, communication is the process of exchanging information, ideas, and feelings between people. It involves not just the words we speak or write, but also nonverbal cues such as body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. Effective communication is about ensuring that the message is understood as intended and that there is a mutual understanding between the parties involved.
In daily life, communication skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships. Whether you are interacting with family members, friends, or strangers, your ability to express yourself clearly and listen to others plays a crucial role in how those relationships develop. Good communication fosters trust, reduces misunderstandings, and creates a sense of connection and belonging.
Communication Skills in the Workplace
In the professional world, communication skills are often the difference between success and failure. Regardless of the industry or role, employees who can communicate effectively are more likely to excel in their careers. Here’s why:
Team Collaboration: Most workplaces require collaboration among team members to achieve common goals. Clear communication ensures that everyone understands their roles, responsibilities, and the tasks at hand. This reduces the likelihood of errors and misunderstandings, leading to higher productivity and better results.
Leadership: Effective communication is a hallmark of good leadership. Leaders must be able to articulate their vision, provide clear instructions, and offer constructive feedback. They must also be skilled at listening to their team members, understanding their concerns, and addressing them appropriately. Strong communication skills help leaders inspire and motivate their teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Customer Relations: In customer-facing roles, communication is critical for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients. Whether it’s resolving a customer complaint, negotiating a deal, or providing support, the way you communicate can make a significant difference in the outcome. Good communication helps build trust, ensures customer satisfaction, and can lead to long-term business success.
Conflict Resolution: Conflict is inevitable in any workplace, but effective communication can help resolve disputes quickly and amicably. By clearly expressing concerns, actively listening to others, and finding common ground, conflicts can be resolved in a way that benefits all parties involved. This not only maintains a harmonious work environment but also prevents minor issues from escalating into major problems.
The Consequences of Poor Communication
Poor communication can have serious consequences, both personally and professionally. In personal relationships, a lack of clear communication can lead to misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and even the breakdown of relationships. When people feel that they are not being heard or understood, it can create frustration and resentment.
In the workplace, poor communication can result in confusion, errors, and missed deadlines. It can lead to a lack of coordination among team members, decreased productivity, and a negative work atmosphere. In extreme cases, poor communication can damage the reputation of an organization and result in lost business opportunities.
Moreover, ineffective communication can have a negative impact on mental health. When individuals struggle to express themselves or feel that they are not being listened to, it can lead to stress, anxiety, and a decrease in self-esteem. Over time, this can create a vicious cycle where poor communication leads to further isolation and dissatisfaction.
Developing Strong Communication Skills
Given the importance of communication skills, it is essential to invest time and effort into developing and refining them. Here are some practical tips for improving your communication skills:
Practice Active Listening: Effective communication is as much about listening as it is about speaking. Practice active listening by giving your full attention to the speaker, avoiding interruptions, and responding thoughtfully. This not only helps you understand the other person’s perspective but also shows that you value their input.
Be Clear and Concise: When communicating, aim to be clear and concise. Avoid using jargon or overly complex language that might confuse the listener. Instead, focus on conveying your message in a straightforward and understandable manner.
Pay Attention to Nonverbal Cues: Nonverbal communication, such as body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice, plays a significant role in how your message is received. Be mindful of these cues, both in yourself and others, to ensure that your communication is aligned with your intentions.
Develop Empathy: Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. By putting yourself in the other person’s shoes, you can better understand their perspective and respond in a way that is respectful and supportive. Empathy is a key component of effective communication and helps build strong, trusting relationships.
Seek Feedback: Be open to receiving feedback on your communication style and be willing to make adjustments. Similarly, offer constructive feedback to others in a way that is respectful and helpful. Feedback is essential for growth and improvement.
Practice Regularly: Like any other skill, communication improves with practice. Engage in conversations, participate in public speaking opportunities, and take advantage of situations where you can express yourself in different settings. The more you practice, the more confident and effective you will become.
Learn to Handle Conflict: Conflict is a natural part of life, but it can be managed through effective communication. Focus on finding solutions rather than assigning blame, and be willing to compromise when necessary. Approach conflicts with a calm and respectful attitude, and use your communication skills to find common ground.
Adapt to Different Situations: Different situations require different communication approaches. Learn to adapt your communication style based on the context and the audience. For example, the way you communicate with a close friend may differ from how you interact with a colleague or client.
