The fact that Rhinedottir sees all her creations as her children...
The fact she got one of her sons to eat the other for no apparent fault of Rubedo's own sins, apparently simply because he was too defective.
The fact that she seems to act as if the deaths of all her children as simply a part of life, something that was always meant to happen.
The fact that Albedo also sees her as a sort-of mother and yet that he was abandoned by her with only a letter and a mission.
That's.... Idk, that's sad.

What do u think of the concept of Alicent (likely with Larys) deciding to pull the trigger on Aegon? I've seen the theory thrown around, and though a bit trite 😬 it seems probable, hotd being so focused on Alicent as the heroine. Yaaasss female agency #filicide
Sounds like something straight out of an anti-Aegon pro-Rhaenicent shipper's wet dream. I'm crying because such a thing would be character assassination on par with what happened to Aegon in the show for Alicent. Rhaenicents like that remind me of D*emyra shippers, insisting that what they have is true and tragic love, meanwhile D*emon actively and knowingly destroyed Rh*enyra's person and life, and the same goes for Rhaenicent with Rh*enyra taking on the role of D*emon in the relationship.
In F&B, Alicent gives Rh*enyra multiple peace offerings, tries to prevent war from happening on numerous occasions, Rh*enyra starts both the feud and the war, meanwhile Alicent is forced to war for the sake of her family's safety, because Rh*enyra never accepted the olive branch Alicent extended many times over. And while I'm not that delusional to think that there was no sliver of megalomania from the Greens camp as motivation, Rh*enyra's family's safety was never at stake, whereas for Alicent it sure was.
It's even worse in the show because Rh*enyra literally goes on to blame fourteen-year-old Alicent for her continuous rape by her own father for over three long years and never once reconciles with her. Alicent, in the meantime, tries multiple times to patch things up between them, is the one to help Rh*enyra and Viserys repair their relationship, protects and defends Rh*enyra's reputation and honor, undermines her own son in order to continue to defend Rh*enyra's claim, urges Rh*enyra to be honest with her, after which Rh*enyra goes on to spit in Alicent's face and lie anyway ON HER MOTHER'S GRAVE while she knows very well how much Alicent's mom's death affected her, Alicent told Viserys to trust Rh*enyra over D*emon, and chose her over Aegon and Otto.
And do pray tell, when has Rh*enyra ever done anything for Alicent? Like, a single thing. What has Rh*enyra ever sacrificed for Alicent? When has Rh*enyra defended her from anything? When has Rh*enyra ever had Alicent's back? When? I'll tell you the answer: quite literally never. And worst of all, this is only the things that have happened up until this point. We still got all the shit that's gonna happen when the war starts, and ohhh boy...
Most people seem to forget this, but B&C also assaulted Alicent. Alicent was in that room when Jaehaerys was beheaded, Jaehaera almost raped, and Helaena tortured. B&C, which Rh*enyra fully sanctioned.
And that isn't even the tip of the iceberg, but I'm not gonna get too into it right now. This shit got too long already, but what it comes down to — which the show completely failed to convey as a consequence of the writers' own incompetence and lack of understanding of the Dance — is that Alicent went to war for Aegon. She went to war for her family. She did it to protect them from Rh*enyra and D*emon because those two would have killed them all, just like they did to Vaemond and the Silent Five. In the end, she only has Aegon and Jaehaera left, her only family those two couldn't manage to kill. The thought that Alicent would poison Aegon, her first baby boy, the one she did all of this for, for the bitch that ruined her life and her family is something a person needs to get put down for in my humble opinion and never speak on Alicent ever again.

So chapter 220 seems like it kind of threw out the theories that Kenjaku is interested in Yuuji at all now that he's not Sukuna's vessel. Or at least not his plans/interest in Yuuji doesn't involve Yuuji living. Kinda sad about this from the momjaku point of view, but do you think that we still might see any real momjaku interactions?
I'm absolutely holding out hope for Yuuji being traumatized in new and entertaining ways Mumjaku interactions. Please, Gege, feed us.
I wouldn't say Kenjaku implementing that rule about all CG players except themself and Megumikuna needing to die is particularly contradictory to how I view them and their interest in Yuuji. To be specific, I don't think Kenjaku's ever-changing plans were ever going to be kind to Yuuji, and straight-up death might honestly be gentler on the guy than anything that would've entailed him continuing to be Sukuna's vessel (or a cage, rather) while Kenjaku's plans march on. And, with the rules the protags added for saving Tsumiki, it's not implausible that Kenjaku could still keep Yuuji alive if they want, but that's just a theoretical possibility and not one I think the plot will head toward. Only that, if we're speculating on what Kenjaku's plans (if any) mean for Yuuji, the new rules they added to the CG don't necessarily mean intended filicide.
The thing is, I have no earthly idea what Kenjaku wants at the end of all this. Nothing that comes out of their mouth is trustworthy; they lie like breathing and cheerfully contradict themself. Their actions speak louder, but we still only know so much about them.
They're also not a plan-every-detail villain, like Aizen Sousuke from Bleach for instance. I'd say Kenjaku's greatest strength is their sheer adaptability.* Everything we've seen about them shows that they got so far by (a) using coincidental developments like the Star Plasma Vessel business to their advantage, (b) rolling with the punches to an insane degree, as in the battle with Yuki, and (c) pure fucking luck, also seen in the battle with Yuki.
I'm saying this because nothing about Yuuji's vesselhood implies Kenjaku had a great deal of control over how the whole thing unraveled. They seem to have made him to be a certain way, body and soul, and it's reasonable to assume it had to do with Sukuna, but (a) why, exactly and (b) is it only about Sukuna? Kenjaku says they intend for Yuuji to coexist with Sukuna, and they seem to have a part to play in Yuuji being more cage than vessel, but when Sukuna hops to Megumi and starts running around being his menace self, Kenjaku doesn't even bat an eye. It's further evidence of the aforementioned adaptability, but it also raises the question of what exactly they did to Yuuji, why, and if there's more to it than what we've seen so far.
In sum (I'm sorry, anon, I cannot be concise to save my life), it could be that Kenjaku has lost interest in Yuuji, but it could also be that they have further plans. They could also simply be interested in seeing what he makes of himself; that would be in line with their general approach to things. We really need those Mumjaku interactions—for science.
Thanks for asking this! I had fun hashing out my thoughts on the whole thing.
* I was going to say Yuuji seems to have inherited that from them, but then I remembered that Jin saw his dead wife come back to life with stitches on her forehead and axe-murderer eyes and decided to make a baby with her. Congratulations, Yuuji, both your parents are batshit.

Monkey’s Paw pages 98-100 ( START HERE || ao3 || previous || next (CW: implied past filicide, sudden violence) )
AU after episode 62. The Omega Dads try a more desperate gambit, but careful what you wish for. Our dads find alternate versions of themselves in a strange dreamscape. Do you trust yourself?
HEADS UP: The next update will contain an implication of past filicide. More information at the cost of spoilers below the cut. Please take care of yourself, DM me for more detail or a summary if you feel like you need to skip parts of the next update. Also things are about to get violent.
After 100 pages, finally behold! The hecking premise. Now taking last-second guesses on who the biggest problem child in this comic is gonna be cause boy howdy youre about to find out
Next update will also make the end of part 1! I can’t for certain call it a half-way mark, but the amount of exposition per page is about to drop. There will probably be a longer break after the next update, as my physical human life is kicking into high gear at the same time, more on that in the next update
Content warning details: the next update will make the implication that one of the main characters was killed as a 13 year old. This is not lingered on for more than about a page but is not argued against and no other alternative events are offered.
The second thing: Straight up a drawing of someone getting stabbed through the back with a sword.

I know they didn't have the pirates, but the lack of nuance in the live-action with Iroh straight-up blaming Ozai for murdering his son in front of an Admiral of the Fire Nation...
No.
Who would do that? Why would Iroh openly accuse his brother, the ruler of the world, of filicide in front of Zhao? That's...that is not political theater!!!

Seventeen Years Late and Two Dollars Short - 1x01 "Pilot"
Alrightie, time to get started.
RECAP YO
Episode opens 22 years prior with Mary and Dean Winchester wishing baby Sam a good night. John joins them, and then they go to bed. Lights begin to flicker, and Mary wakes when she hears the baby monitor go off. She goes to check on Sam, thinking that the figure hovering over the crib is John. She ends up going downstairs because hey, lights still flickering, and realizes that John is sleeping in front of the TV. She flies back upstairs to Sam's room.
John wakes to her scream. He runs upstairs, but Sam's room is empty except for him. John notices blood dripping from the ceiling and looks up to see Mary bleeding out just before the room bursts into flames. He gets his sons out. Roll opening credits.
In the present (2005) Sam goes out with his hot girlfriend on Halloween. We're told that he's at Stanford, about to interview to go into law school. He has a difficult relationship with his family. That night, he wakes, catching a strange man walking around his apartment. Turns out it's his brother Dean. Their dad is missing, and Dean manages to convince Sam to come help him find their wayward parent.
In Jericho, California, we have a vignette of a woman in white seducing a young man into driving her home. Even though he was just talking to his girlfriend, he is more than happy to accept her invitation to stay the night. This ends badly when he rolls up to the delapidated house, gets freaked out, and tries to drive away. No dice, as the woman shows back up in his car and ends up brutally murdering him.
Sam and Dean catch up to their dad's last known location, and come upon the police investigating the boy's disappearance. They investigate, and eventually stumble upon their dad's abandoned motel room. They'd already started piecing things together, but it looks like their dad had confirmed that they were dealing with a Woman in White - a vengeful spirit intent on punishing unfaithful men after commiting filicide and suicide. (Good for her.)
Dean gets arrested since he over the course of the episode has already broken many laws including credit card fraud and impersonating law enforcement. Sam gets away, and goes to interview the woman's - Constance's - husband. Dean is interrogated over his father's journal. Sam calls in a bogus tip that gets the cops out of the way, and Dean escapes. On his way to the old house where Constance is buried, Sam gets taken hostage by the spirit. Sam refuses to be unfaithful to his girlfriend, Jess, but the spirit kisses him anyway so that she could try to kill him.
Dean shows up, shooting the ghost to stop her from hurting Sam. Sam, pissed off, drives the Impala into the house. While inside, Dean and Sam are trapped by the ghost, who is then in turned trapped by the also vengeful spirits of her murdered children.
Dean takes Sam back to his apartment, even though he wants him to come with him on the next leg of their journey to find their dad. Sam refuses, and Dean lets him go. When Sam gets back to his apartment, he lays on his bed, thinking Jess is in the shower. Blood drips on his face, and he looks up to find her stabbed and on the ceiling. The room bursts into flames, and Dean busts in and rescues Sam. Sam ends up going with Dean at the end of the episode.
THOUGHTS
So, I can see how this got to be a hit in the mid-Aughts. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are hot young men in their prime running around in a cool car. Not gonna lie, I love the car. I love the sound of the car. I'm aware that my robotfucker instincts are coming to the fore, but that's a hazard of being a long time Transformers fan.
I was kind of worried when I realized we'd see Mary Winchester's death straight off, since one of my sensitive areas is the young death of a parent. I have a lot of trauma regarding the sudden death of my father, and even though he's been gone for nine years . . . Disney movies can still set me off. Seeing a gif set of Littlefoot's mom dying makes me tear up. I make light of it, but I still haven't seen the entirety of the movie Onward.
However . . . it's ridiculous. If Mary's death had been played with any sort of actual pathos, I might have had trouble, but it was pure shock value. Technically speaking, I really liked the special effects, and the framing of the scene, but because I haven't spent any time with the character it didn't land very well. I know that in the function of the story, it really isn't supposed to inspire anything in me since it's basically just setting up the main plot, but not gonna lie, both Mary and Jess got fridged. The only reason I can see to include Mary's death scene was to signal to the audience that Jess was killed by the same being. That's it. As a storyteller, I like bookends and callbacks, but the fact that both women are killed purely to affect the men is a tired ass trope, and it was a tired ass trope back in the year of our Lord 2005. Double deductions for the fact that the deaths are melodramatic and over the top as hell.
I will say that I liked the Woman in White story line, and will give points to the fact that the end of the Monster of the Week arc was a nice twist. Having the ghost being caught by the spirits of her own children - the true innocents in her tale - was a nice touch. It was a bit of an abrupt ending though.
Character wise, I liked the fact that we get to sit awhile with the brothers. It's not all action, and we're allowed to get to know their quirks straight off the bat. Sam is studious and responsible with a pretty strong moral compass. He's not above lying, but his lies are all purposeful and he shows distaste for how Dean is able to pay for things. Left to his druthers, he's very much starting out as lawful good. Dean on the other hand, is a lecherous jackass. He hits on anything that has breasts, but didn't strike me as particularly selfish. When Sam insists that he can't go on at the end of the episode, Dean simply drives him back. Dean is obviously loyal to his family even if he gives no indications about his attitudes towards anyone else. I know that there are hidden depths we haven't hit yet for his character, but I'm also trying not to let fandom interpretations cloud my judgement too much. This is all based on behavior from the episode itself.
So, overall, I liked the characters. There's some shenanigans in the storywriting that make me give it the side eye, but I'm willing to see where this goes.
I mean, I know its going to Hell, but, enh.

Summary: You'd tried so hard to hide your relationship with Yoongi from your father. You knew when he found you were dating someone from a rival club that he'd kill you. You just didn't think it would be literal.
Trigger warnings: Violence, Filicide, Blood, gun usage.
Yoongi
Mafia! Yoongi
Mafia! BTS
"Yes Daddy," you poke your head through the door to his office with a little knock. Normally you would never bother your father while he was working, but one of your brothers came to your room to let you know he was calling for you.
"Ah, Darling. Yes, have a seat." He stands up from his desk, gesturing to the chair ahead of him. "I need your advice on something."
For a moment you get a flutter in your stomach. He never asks you for anything. Your his pretty princess on a pedestal. And he never involves you in anything that a woman wouldn't have been responsible for in the 1950s.
"Of course," you smile, shifting comfortably.
"I know you're tech-savvy, so maybe you can explain this to me. I had some photos printed, but I think there must be something wrong with the camera. Have a look,"
Reaching into his desk drawer as he speaks he pulls out a stack of A4 photos. As he lays them out your eyes jump straight back up at him. Checking for his reaction, a sharp pang of absolute fear hitting you. They're pictures of you and Yoongi, his arm around you when you were coming out of the Bangtan clubhouse.
"I know the camera has to be faulty, because that" he tapes your image, "looks like you. And I know my one and only daughter wouldn't be socializing with those Bulletproof scum."
"Daddy, I-I," you stutter with no idea what to say.
You thought you were so clever, so careful that there was no way he'd ever find out. Even when Yoongi would worry about you possibly being caught you would shrug it off. Your love was invincible and meant to be, and you were smart. No chance your family would ever know you're with Yoongi, and no way his family would ever know you were from a rival gang. As far as they knew, you were just Y/n Brown, the hairdresser from one district over.
But clearly, you weren't careful or clever enough.
Your stark silence is loud enough for your father and he nods a sombre confirmation. "How long Y/n?" He questions.
"Daddy, I don't-"
"How long?!" He's quick to anger, making you jump.
"A few months," you lie, your eyes dropping to your lap. Telling him it's been closer to 18 months is only going to enrage him further.
Slumping back into his office chair he lets out a heavy sigh.
"You think you raise your kids right. To know loyalty and family." He derides looking at you fiercely. "But then you find out your own daughter will open her legs for any cretin. In complete disregard of everything she should know."
You knew it would be awful if he ever found out, you know he is a terrifying dangerous man, but hearing your father's derogatory comments are harder to take than you ever expected.
"What did you tell them?" He sits forward. His demeanour, his expression going from disappointed father to cold mafioso.
Your mouth going dry, you swallow hard. Shaking your head softly. "Nothing."
"Bullshit!" He yells. "You expect me to believe they just let the daughter of Bastille get all cosy with one of the 7 without you giving up something."
This is so bad. You knew your parents, your brothers, the entire Bastille would disown you for this, but they'll actually kill you if they think you've sold them out.
"No. I didn't tell them anything. None of them knows who I am. Only Yoongi knows. And I didn't tell him shit. You know I wouldn't." You defend yourself trying to reign in your distress.
"Well, there's a lot of things I wouldn't think a daughter of mine could do." His voice is so detached. He's stopped looking at you. This is so so bad.
"Dad. I didn't say anything." You restate, fighting to convince him. Feeling like you're trying to prove the case for your own life. "I know the rules. Don't talk to anyone. Not cops. Not friends or enemies." You repeat the words that had been drilled in your entire childhood. You knew nothing, you saw nothing. Those are the rules.
"I don't believe you." He says bitterly.
Your hands are trembling, you're panting heavily. You know being with a rival club member is a stupid thing, but the clubs are in a truce.  And despite your father's opinion, you would never be so stupid as to actually say anything. And Yoongi would never let you, even if you decided to. You did one thing wrong, but you made sure you did everything else right.
Leaning back, he opens his phone book. Searching for a number.
"Dad," You plead for his attention. Raising the phone to his ear he shushes you, placing a finger over his mouth.
You have no idea what to do. You've seen him decimate people for so much less than what he's accusing you of. You don't know how to prove your innocence.
The call answers and you can hear a distant 'hello'.  Putting the phone on speaker he puts the receiver down.
"Warren L/n here. I believe I have something of yours," he says.
"What are you talking about?" You inhale a staggered breath, hearing the familiar gruff voice of Kim Namjoon.
Your dad's plan was simple. If you were telling the truth about Bangtan not knowing who you were, their leader would be confused and concerned that you were with the leader of Bastille. But if they knew who you were, this would be a much more straightforward issue. Namjoon would understand right away why he was calling.
And if you were lying about one thing, he could assume you were lying about more.
"Say hello Y/n." Your dad prompts, his look daring you to refuse.
"Hi," You squeak, nervously chewing the inside of your cheek. Your own safety aside, Namjoon was going to kill Yoongi.
There's a brief pause. The background noise on Namjoon's side disappearing. "Kidnapping women? I didn't realise you were handling that personally now."
"Who said kidnap?" he leads the conversation.
"Then maybe you want to explain what one of our girls is doing with you?" Namjoon growls, sounding protective.
That was enough confirmation for your father. The leader didn't know what was going on. But he was about to.
On Namjoons side of the line, he was pacing back and forth in a closed meeting room at the entrance of the clubhouse. Your father was revealing the secret that you and Yoongi had fought so hard to keep.
The phone call ending, Namjoon was in a rage. Marching across the bar he stormed at the table with other members around it. His maddened expression drawing Yoongi's attention. But the older member didn't have any reason to think this fury was directed at him and so he doesn't react quick enough as Namjoon punches him in the face, knocking him from his chair.
The other boys instantly becoming alert, Jungkook jumps to Namjoons side holding his arm out in front of him, looking ready to intervene. Jimin standing between the floored Yoongi and the enraged leader.
"Hyung, what the hell ar-" Jimin snaps.
"You fucking idiot! Bastille's daughter?!" he roars trying to push through Jimin. Jungkook stepping in to help keep him at bay.
Climbing back to his feet, nursing a split lip, Yoongi's eyes go wide. Completely caught off guard by Namjoon's revelation. "How did you-" he gapes.
"Everything she's seen, everything she knows! Do you have any idea how much you've exposed this club?" He lunges again, bowling the mediating members out of the way. Diving through Yoongi, the two men trade blows as they scuffle on the floor.
The scene quickly gets out of hand, and as Yoongi throws Namjoon through a table, Jin and Hoseok come from a backroom to step in also. The four of them now working to pry the two battling men apart. Jimin and Hoseok holding back Yoongi. The oldest and youngest members trying to keep Namjoon at bay.
"Enough!" Jin scolds with a firm shove to Namjoon's chest. "Someone explain what the hell is going on!"
"Just Suga thinking with his dick, instead of his brain." Namjoon spits.
Shirking off the boys, Yoongi barges forward infuriated by the provocative comment. War breaking out again with a solid hit at Namjoon, a gash opening over his eye. Another difficult struggle beginning for the members, grappling and clawing them apart. Having to fully restrain them to have them stop. Being held as they bleed.
Grabbing both of them by the collar, Jin demands their focus. "The next man who throws a punch leaves here with a bullet in his leg!" He growls. "Am I clear?!" His fist tightens, stiffening their necklines.
"Yes,"
"Yes, Hyung."
The two of them conceded, their energy dropping as their eldest releases them. "Good. Now sit down so we can talk this shit out."
It takes several minutes and a round of drinks, but the room calms down enough for the members to sit down. They send the few 2nd levels out and the 95's girlfriends. The bar remaining with only the 7 original members. Taehyung coming back just as the disclosure began.
Namjoon starts, passing along the information your father had given him. The 6 of them all sharing disappointed, worried or angry glances towards Yoongi.
"She wouldn't have said anything." Yoongi insists, after explaining his side also. Trying to defend his decision. To defend you.
"You can't know that," Jimin argues, flumping back in his seat. Taking a sip with a pissed-off scowl on his face.
"Yeah, we've all been pussy blinded before. You're not thinking clearly." Jungkook snips.
"Maknae-" Yoongi warns. Getting tired of the disrespect that keeps getting thrown his way.
"Hey, watch it." Jin interrupts, correcting Jungkook's blunt attitude. The youngest shrugging, downing the last of his drink.
"Look, if she was giving information to L/n, then why would he call to tell you that he knows." Yoongi disputes. Hoping to bring reason back into the debate.
"He wants to trade. The latest shipment of horse for Y/n." Namjoon answers with a frustrated scoff and a roll of his eyes.
"That's close to 500 K. That's not happening," Hoseok jumps in. The rest of them firmly nodding in agreement.
"Okay, but if that's the case. If he's trying to sell her off, that means she's not working with him. Right?" Taehyung backs Yoongi's point.
"Idiot," Jimin shoves his friend, "It could be a part of the plan. A way to rip us off for half a million."
"Or it could be a set-up," Namjoon adds. "Let's say Hyung's right, and she isn't working with her old man. If we're willing to sit down, if we try to buy her back, it confirms that she knows enough that we're concerned about it."
"I'm telling you, she doesn't know anything. She didn't want to know anything. And even if she did, she's not gonna give it up." Again Yoongi vehemently defends you.
"Well if she doesn't give him anything then L/n kills her." Namjoon finalizes. "To hurt the club, and as retribution for her betrayal."
"What I don't understand is why you would let her go back? If you trust her and you know how ruthless Bastille is, why would you let her keep going back to him?" Jin asks, genuinely baffled.
Standing up Yoongi can't take anymore. He's furious. He's upset. At himself most of all. Feeling to blame for allowing you to be in this situation, he leaves in anger. Needing some time to himself to think.
"I don't know, she seemed pretty cool," Taehyung mutters, leaning into Namjoon. "You don't really think he would kill his own daughter, right?"
It's been 2 days and you've been locked in an empty storage shed at the edge of the property like a captive. Your father turned your world upside down looking for information. His people went through your computer, your phone, your car, your room. Everything that was yours he and his men had raided. And just like you said, there was nothing there. No information about Bastille, and nothing about Bangtan.
"Suga. I'm guessing that's Min Yoongi? Unless you're cheating on him." Your dad muses holding up your phone. That is so humiliating. So many nudes and dirty texts are in that chat. There may not be revealing information, but there was still plenty of personal stuff.
"You know Darling, I don't like to admit when I am wrong, but it looks like you were telling the truth. I can't find any proof that you gave up any family details." He smiles softly, your heart lifting with relief for a moment. "But then I was looking through your camera roll and, in the pictures where you actually have clothes on, it's just full of Bangtan." He comes further into the empty shed, leaning on the wall alongside you. Showing you the screen as he scrolls through. The only entrance being blocked by one of his more grizzly looking men. "See here, there's you and a bunch of them at a restaurant. There's you and the leader. You and the crazy one. Here's a family-style photo, isn't that nice."
He keeps scrolling through shot after shot, exhibiting an entire album full of Bangtan family pictures.
"I'm sure you never expected anyone else to see these. I guess I should have been teaching you not to put the same password for multiple devices." He scoffs. "But the interesting thing, when I'm going through these photos you seem to be really close with all of them. Some of these even go back to last year. Which makes the timeline you gave me a little off."
He shows the details of one of the pictures to you, the time stamp from when you had already been with Yoongi for 6 months.
"This one is from May 2nd. Last year. On the 10th those bastards stole one of my shipping containers. With nearly 100 grand worth of merchandise. Did you know about that?"
"You mean people." You sneer, his characterization of human trafficking as 'merchandise' making your skin crawl.
"So you did know." He smiles coldly.
"I found out- I knew after," you justify. Even as you continue to defend yourself, you have a sick feeling that it's all for nothing.
"I'm really curious what else you know." He hums, walking around the front of you to get back into your eye line.
"I don't know anything," you tell him for the 1000th time with an exasperated shake of your head. Moving away to the far side of the shed.
"Darling, I'm your father and I'm telling you we need to reconcile this. Your mother is worried sick. I'm here losing sleep over this. I'm giving you a chance to repay all the damage you've done. A chance to forget all this. You tell me everything you know about Bangtan, and just like that," he snaps his fingers, "you get to return to your comfortable life."
You don't trust his change in tone or his promises for a minute. You may not have known the darkest parts of who he is, but that's how you can be sure that his offer to forgive and forget is rubbish. Not even the father in him would let you forget a mistake. Especially one this major, not with the way he is reacting. And he's so much more brutal when it comes to Bastille.
"And if I don't?"
"Then you've betrayed your family. And we'll find out what we want to know in other ways." he taps the back of his hand in the other, symbolizing a beat down.
You shake your head hard. You might love your dad. But you don't like him. You've known for most of your life that he was a bad guy. And Yoongi, Bangtan, they might not be the good guys, but they've been the family you've always wanted. There is no way you were telling him even the most insignificant detail.
"Hit me all you want dad, I still don't know anything." You snarl.
"I could never hit my own daughter." He taps his heart, a feigned pained expression on his face. Nodding his head in your direction, he trades places with his man who advances on you.
Breathing hard you step back only to hit the wall.
The tall, square-built man swings. The back of his hand slapping your cheek, the force so strong that it smacks you into the corner sidewall. His hand, like a vice, grabs ahold of your head and mightily slams it into the steel beam running down the sheet metal wall. Pushing your hands against his chest, you weakly attempt to fend him off, but he ends your efforts with another solid wack against the frame.
As blood streams down your head, his focus switches. The majority of his attacks landing on your torso.
With you curled up on the floor, wheezing and gasping for breath, the assault finally stops. But not out of mercy. Even through the ringing in your ears, you can hear the outburst of gunfire in the distance.
Both your dad and his man rush out, leaving you locked away. While it's for an equally terrifying reason, you're thankful to have this time to catch your breath. Although every laborious intake brings agony.
After some time, light floods back into the room, your father standing in the doorway outlined by the setting sun. "I'm sorry Darling. If I had to do this, I hoped it would be a bit more ceremonious. But we don't have the time for that now."
You gasp at him raising his gun at you. He shoots three times. One in your chest, one in your shoulder and one in your stomach.
The shock, the impact takes the breath from you. And you can't draw it back in. Your eyes glassing over, your head filled with nothing but white noise. Feeling a fleeting moment of relief as everything goes quiet and dark.
"Fuck. No!" Yoongi howls. He, Jin and two 2nd ranks had chased after your father as he fled.
Bangtan's siege on his property was highly successful till that point, and he had run downhill to the storage garage. Looking to make a getaway.
The other's continue after him as Yoongi stumbles into you. His steely outer shell crumbling away the moment he sees your body limp and bleeding out.
Falling beside you he leans over shaking and in tears. Kissing your lips gently with heartfelt pleas "I'm sorry Y/n. I'm so sorry. Please don't do this. Please."
Jin doubles back, watching distraught from the entrance as his brother falls apart.
Lifting your head up, Yoongi brings your forehead to his. The movement making you splutter blood. The first sign of life that either of the men had seen.
"Holy fuck, she's alive." Jin gawks, jumping in beside Yoongi pressing on the hole in your stomach. The bullet in your shoulder and chest had both hit bone, stopping the slug from going through, blocking the wounds from severe blood loss. The bullet in your torso shot through your bowls and thankfully not through your vital organs. Meaning your chances of survival were much higher. It was either 3 highly unlucky shots or three precisely placed ones.
"I'm so sorry Y/n." Yoongi's in shock. Devastated and guilt-ridden, and unable to make himself function.
"Dude, get your shit together or she's not gonna make it." Jin smacks the side of his brothers head, snapping him out of his grief-stricken daze.
"Can you save her?" He asks rubbing the tears from his eyes.
"Not a chance. But I can keep her alive for a minute until we get to the clubhouse. Call the doc, tell him to meet us there." Jin orders, having much more clarity at this moment. "And get the boys to bring the car around. We're going to need a few of us to move her."
Yoongi follows Jin's lead, wiping the blood from his hands onto his pants to dial.
"Think of it this way," Jin smiles shortly, trying to soothe Yoongi's fear and panic with an ill-timed joke. "If she survives, at least she'll have proved she's Bangtan."

Hi! Long time listener, first time caller. Your recs are a Godsend, real stress busters. Any fics you can recommend that are gonna be lengthy? Like I’m talking real time killers. But also Derek is a werewolf. And he and Stiles fall in love between all the monster fighting and the bickering back and forth. And just a real good slow burn. I think that’s all. Ok thanks for being so awesome!
Haha! That’s awesome. 💜   Well, time killers are 100K+ but there are also some great fics in the 50K tag.
@shimmeringstarrs and anyone else looking for tags to dive into. 😉 The word count tags are on the left of the tag page. Under 3K, Under 10K, Under 50K,  Over 50K, 100K and Novel Length.
Enemy Lines by qhuinn (tekla) | 149.1K | Explicit
This is the story of werewolf Derek Hale and human Stiles Stilinski: two people who grew up in the same town but completely different worlds, their realities split by the war between men and wolves.
Years later when Derek returns to Beacon Hills, he does it as Alpha of a military pack on a mission to capture those responsible for the region’s resistance. With his main objective, Sheriff Stilinski, out of sight, he settles for the next best thing: his son, Stiles.
Neither of them suspects they’ll need to trust each other if they want to make it out this alive.
Divided We Stand by KouriArashi | 156.7K | Mature
Derek is being pressured by his family to pick a mate, and somehow stumbles into a choice that they didn't expect and aren't sure they approve of....
Pack Wars by miss_aphelion | 158.6K | Mature
Scott liked to call it the Great Pack Divide of 2012.
Derek liked to call Scott an idiot.
(Or the one where Derek kidnaps Stiles to teach Scott a lesson, and ends up learning a few things himself)
Trust Fall by Stoney | 144.2K | Explicit
Stiles is fairly certain that a case could be made for every bad thing in his life coming back to Peter Hale. This time it's pissing off a powerful witch, who retaliated by swapping Stiles and Derek a la Freaky Friday, because sure. That makes sense. Um, there are GPAs on the line, not to mention the whole thing where his dad wants to shoot Derek on sight. Except who he sees as Derek is actually Stiles, and Stiles did not sign up for filicide.
Great. Wait...does this mean he's the Alpha until they figure this out? Holy. Shit.
between the click of the light and the start of the dream by thepsychicclam | 105.1K | Explicit
It's Stiles' senior year, and he's trying to concentrate on normal things - like the lacrosse championship, spring break, prom, graduation (and definitely not Derek) - when he starts having nightmares and waking up in the middle of nowhere. Oh yeah, and he's being haunted by a hag. Great.
Bruises and Bitemarks | 121.5K | Explicit
Biologically, Stiles is weak. When he presented as an omega, he knew that to be the truth but that never stopped him from running his mouth as a defense mechanism. However, it could only save him so many times before he ended up pissing off the wrong person. After he's attacked in the parking lot outside of school, Stiles realizes he can no longer protect himself with just pure wit and sarcasm. When the attack lands him in the hospital, his dad forces him to pick between two options, report the alphas who attacked him or join a kickboxing gym run by omega rights activist and alpha, Derek Hale, a man Stiles has been in love with for many years.
Running Up That Hill by maypoison | 139.4K | Explicit
“Even before the pack joined together, Scott was trying to protect you. And he still is trying to protect you, even if it means leaving you out of all this.”
Stiles does roll his eyes at that. “Yeah, but it didn’t work did it. I was still involved, and so was my Dad. We were nearly killed by Matt, and then Gerard.”
“My point is, people change. Relationships aren’t always perfect. Scott's tried to kill me before."
Stiles raises an eyebrow. "So, you’re saying that someone trying to kill you is just a small flaw in a relationship?"
“We’re werewolves.” Derek answers with a shrug, as if that was a perfectly good explanation.
Don't Savage The Messenger by exclamation | 172.3K | Explicit
There is an uneasy truce between the werewolves in the woods and the humans who live in Beacon Hills, protected by a magical boundary that gives warning any time a werewolf crosses it. Then the sheriff is taken by the werewolves and his son offers himself in exchange.
Stiles promises to serve the werewolf pack, not knowing what horrible use they might have for him. But it turns out his most useful skill is the ability to cross the boundary line between humans and werewolves. Life with the werewolves is nothing like he feared and the werewolves themselves are nothing like the hunters' stories would have him believe.
You Don’t See Straight by annber | 174.9K | Explicit
Stiles finds himself in a secret werewolf community to participate in a mating run. Sterek happens. Side OC's.
The Hollow Moon by thepsychicclam | 180K | Explicit
It's the summer after Stiles' first year of college, and he's working a crappy job and dealing with nightmares and anxiety - but he's okay, he swears. He makes it through most days without too much trouble. Then, a certain werewolf comes back into town. Which Stiles doesn't care about, nope, not at all.
After two and a half years, Derek returns to Beacon Hills with his small Pack. Though he tried to move on, something just kept drawing him back to Beacon Hills, he's just not sure what. Now, he figures he can start building something like a life - but he keeps getting distracted by Stiles Stilinski of all people.

so... i did some research and anon is kind of right? lets say YZY's brother is the current sect leader of Meishan Yu, that means if he dies, first his sons will inherit, if he has no male children -> his brother will inherit and if he's dead -> his brother's son will inherit and technically if their brothers don't have any male offsprings it would go to the closest male relative like a cousin or an uncle. aka what happened with jgs, jgy and jl since jzx died before he became sect leader, which placed jgy as the heir, then jgy's son and then jin ling.
so jyl & jc aren't very far up on that list if you give all of them children (which would make more sense than none of them having children besides yzy.) also if i got this right, they would've to give up their inheritance of lotus pier, y'know.... a Great Sect, if they wanted to inherit Meishan Yu. i'm not even sure if they could inherit it since all i've found where the sons, brothers and nephews inheriting the throne but if you want to bring in female characters too, that brings them even further down on the list, even then... (if you bring female characters in) jyl is higher in the line of inheritance than jc is
Yeah, if we assume that YZY being called Third Lady is related to her family in her birth sect (and I don’t see what else it could be referring to; the only other thing I can think of is a “third wife” situation, and even if multiple wives is a thing that happens in the MDZS setting (which it probably doesn’t, given JGS has exactly one wife) JFM only has the one), then that’s two people and their offspring (and potentially their offspring, if they have any) ahead of her and hers in the line of succession, and if it’s male preference inheritance (which I don’t see why it wouldn’t be) any potential younger brothers would also be ahead of her. ...Also, I’m not sure if Third Lady would mean “third child (who happens to be a woman)” or “third female child”? If it’s the latter then she could have older brothers in addition to two older sisters who would also be ahead of her in the line of succession. But I’m not even going to try to pretend that I know if that’s how it works or not. And as you say it’s likely that after all the sons it would go to cousins, uncles, other assorted male relatives before it would reach the daughters. Basically... yeah, JC’s chances of inheriting control of Meishan are hovering around zero, and if YZY tried to move him up the line of succession (depending on how many people are ahead of her) it would get very obvious very quickly, even assuming she could do it. And that’s assuming Meishan didn’t avoid any risk of people saying they deliberately had her kidnap JFM’s heir by straight up disowning her when she showed up on their doorstep, and it’s almost certain that JC and JYL would have to give up their claim on Yunmeng, so even if she could get them to the top of the line of succession it would be a massive downgrade in terms of prospects. I think people sometimes forget that a situation like JL’s (where as far as we know he’s first in line to inherit two great sects) is extremely unlikely to come about and only happened due to terrible luck and active sabotage (plus accidental incest followed by filicide) on the Jin side and the terrible luck of having a sect leader so unlikable that even the power and wealth of a great sect can’t tempt anyone to marry him on the Jiang side, and even then we're only assuming that there are no alternative Jiang heirs. ...Actually, I think we’re also only assuming that JL is in line to lead the Jiang sect; thinking about it I feel like JYL would’ve given up any claim she and her progeny had on Yunmeng when she married into the Jin sect, although I might be wrong. If anyone knows how ancient Chinese inheritance would work in regards to that feel free to jump in. If nothing else I can’t remember it ever actually being said that JL is next in line to rule Yunmeng, or even that he’s in line at all.

@omniishambles / continued from here
He heard her question, but he didn’t respond straight away. Instead he continued slicing prosciutto, taking a moment to contemplate his answer. Then he stopped, setting down the sharp knife on the counter, but his gaze remained on the meat rather than looking to his waiting daughter. Taking Abigail’s life had been regrettable, but it had also been necessary.

“I had to make a difficult choice. As a surgeon I made such choices all the time, deciding which lives were viable to save and which were not.”
Hannibal glanced up, looking at Fish thoughtfully. But there was sympathy in his expression, sympathy for the girl who’d lost her sister.
“I made a decision in order to protect you, and to protect myself. But dwelling on such decisions can’t undo them.”
Fish looked at her glass for a long, silent minute. It was a very nice glass, it was expensive, luxurious. Filled to the brim with blood.
Blood ran thicker than water.
That was the saying, right? And in a way, blood tied this family together too. It didn't flow in their veins, they ripped it from others.
In the loud morning of Paris, she could hear her father's words, though they seemed filtered through a strange blur. How to piece her thoughts properly? Was she sad? Angry?
She felt sad.
But didn't lions eat their own cubs? And weren't the Lecters predators? Filicide was not above those who killed for sustenance. Would he eat her too, one day? And if he tried...
Would she have to eat him first?
It brought tears to her eyes, but she shook them away abruptly.
"I can't stop dwelling on them," she finally replied slowly, carefully picking her words, afraid a torrent could escape from her lips, "it feels like you saved your... Friend. But let my sister die."
The accusation was terrible, even if spoken meticulously.

"How did it protect me? To kill her? I don't understand. She was loyal."

QTVW Chapter 13
The Future* President's Fiancee (End)
----
Later that day, the news media was reporting about the major news that happened.
"...... The An family, a prestigious family that has been passed down for thousands of years, exploded a feud today within the powerful family. The fourth son of the first branch of the An family, in order to seize the position of the An family patriarch, cruelly poisoned his own father and three brothers, and finally even drove a flying car into his own sister, An Mu Lan, causing her to be in a coma in the Zhongzheng Intensive Care Unit, and it is said that there is a great possibility that she will not be able to wake up and become a vegetable. This incident is so bad that it is horrifying to hear that the four sons of the An family, who have so heartlessly murdered their loved ones, have now been arrested and taken into custody and will be tried in court in half a month."
Seven days later, the news media reported,
“…..Recently, the Zhang family, a family with a thousand-year heritage, has been revealed to have committed crimes, and after a police investigation, the matter has been substantiated by human and material evidence, and the police have attached great importance to this matter and set up a special operation team to examine the case.”
“…..The new head of the Zhang family - Zhang Yao - is nowhere to be found after this incident was revealed following her success in defeating her brother to be the head. According to the confidential report, the incident that led to the rapid downfall of the Zhang family because of the evidence was actually planned by Zhang Yao, whose aim was to take revenge on the Zhang family.”
Fifteen days later, the news media reported,
“….. Zhang's company shares have plummeted, the company's partners have all asked to withdraw their capital, the company's participants have frantically sold their shares, the company's employees have resigned on their own initiative, the company's internal affairs cannot continue to operate normally, and the company has been officially declared bankrupt this afternoon.”
“….. The four sons of the An family were tried in court on Sunday, and because of their crimes and the four and a half lives they carried, the court finally ruled that they should be shot in Autumn.
….. There have been recent developments in the case of the An family's tragic filicide. According to an internal staff member of the An family, the An family's four sons' crazy behavior this time is actually, in fact, originated from an argument over a beauty, according to this person, the four young masters of the An family are all in love with the beautiful woman and have fought each other many times, according to the circumstances of that day, it should be that they were fighting amongst themselves, and the fourth son of the An family, in a moment of anger, poisoned his three own brothers and, over the objection of his father, killed his own father in the process.”
“…..The people's public opinion was focused on this national beauty, and many people let it be known that they were willing to throw a thousand dollars to get a glimpse of her.”
A month later, the news media reported,
“…..The police have arrested all the Zhang family members involved in the case, and they are now in custody, awaiting the court's verdict in a month's time. Depending on the severity of the offence, the sentence is a term of criminal law. A thousand-year-old family, the Zhang family, collapses.”
“Ling Xihan, the president of the Ling family, bought the Zhang family company at a low price, cleaned up the mess of the Zhang family at the government's sign, took over hundreds of millions of Zhang family company employees and reduced the layoff and unemployment rate for the society.”
“…..According to sources, the national beauty who caused the scandal in the An family has recently become the top beauty in the Moon Street, and it is said that many tycoons are now willing to pay sky-high prices in order to see such a red-faced beauty.”
Three months later, the news media reported,
“…..All the members of the Zhang family pillar were sentenced to life imprisonment, and the Zhang family disappeared from the stage of history….. Zhang Yao, the head of the Zhang family, was found by a tourist in the wilderness with her arms and legs severed and her tongue pulled out by the roots. Our reporter interviewed the people involved and concluded that the incident stemmed from the brutal vengeance of the remnants of the Zhang family party.”
“…..The beautiful woman who attracted the An family's attention, sat on the stage at Moon Street for two months, receiving dozens of clients daily, creating millions of dollars in value for Moon Street, making it the world's number one place for sex in the future.”
Six months later, the news media reported,
“…..President Ling, who has been in the limelight in recent years, has successfully saved the dying company with her outstanding management skills after precisely acquiring the Zhang family, and has ranked first in the statistical results of this year's wealth list, with a personal fortune that rivals that of any other country.”
“…..President Ling was officially elected to this year's government congress as an outstanding entrepreneur. This move represents that after making a name for herself in the business world, President Ling has turned her attention to politics and has been elected as a government official, making a high-profile entry into the political arena, and is very close to the head of the Li family, a giant in the political world.”
“…..Yesterday afternoon, President Ling was photographed by Entertainment Network reporters as she walked in and out of the hotel with Miss Li, daughter of the political family, and late last night, the two were seen walking out of the hotel hand in hand, however, the two parties involved denied this fact one after another when interviewed by the media.”
A year later, the news media reported,
“…..The President of the Ling Company, Ling Xihan, has become the number one marriage partner in the world. With her wealth and status as a rising political star, many men and women are attracted to her, and her fiancée, Miss An Mu Lan, has now become a vegetable and there is no telling when she will wake up.”
“…..Miss Ling Xihan confessed her love for her fiancée, promising to wait for her until the day she wakes up, and said straight out: An Mu Lan will be my only fiancée, my only wife! This act of infatuation has touched everyone and made more people in the community witness the beauty of true love.”
An Economist talks about social reality in this matter,
“President Ling played a good hand this time, ah, she confessed to her fiancée Miss An, showing her true feelings and making other partners more comfortable to work with her, which increased the performance of Ling's company, making it leap into the future world's strongest economic hegemon in half a month's time. This wealth has helped her open the door to the political world, making her a rising star, a good plan, we admire it.”
Rumour has it that the economist disappeared without a trace on the second day.
The noise died down and a cold, mechanical voice rang out in the back of her head, saying in a monotone voice:
【Host Mu Lan's order to leave the mission world at regular intervals is lifted, prepare to restart the virtual time and space system;】
【Restart countdown: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1;】
【The restart was successful, welcome host Mu Lan back to the mission world.】
The words fell to the surface and the woman, lying in her sick**, slowly opened her eyes.
An Mu Lan felt her eyes dry and she closed them again as her own voice rang out in her head, saying,
【Host Mu Lan requests the system to redeem 50 points in exchange for good health】
【50 points have been successfully redeemed and the system is repairing the host's physical body;】
【"Ding", the system repair is complete, good luck to the host for completing the raid long ago.】
An Mu Lan felt her body recover in a flash, she opened her eyes, pulled the corners of her mouth, then sat up and picked up her personal terminal that was sitting on the edge of her hospital bed, clicking on the top contact, a familiar figure then appeared on the screen and she said with a crooked smile,
"My dear fiancée, long time no see?"
“…..”
The person on the other end smiled deeply and she murmured with curled lips,
"It's been a long time!"
After hanging up, An Mu Lan walked out of bed and pulled back the heavy curtains as she leaned against the window and looked out at the vivid and lively scenery.
Although she had been in a coma for almost a year, in fact, she had just jumped straight from a year ago to the present, and she was sick**, when she received the hospital treatment, a timed disengagement procedure was set up autonomously to await today's awakening.
It was all a bitter plan, and she knew that if she took her time with Ling Xihan, there was a good chance that her mission would not be completed, so, in order to get Ling Xihan to take that step, she chose this layout.
She had been trying to provoke Zhang Yao in the An family by acting close to Ling Xihan and saying "I love you" to her in front of everyone, this should have irritated Zhang Yao the most. She saw a flash of white light then and knew her chance had come.
She also didn't really pass out after being hit by the flying car, but chose to become a vegetable for a year after considering it at her discretion. She went out on a limb, hoping that this time the layout would give her a good result.
A month later, in the world of the future, a grand and luxurious wedding took place in the most beautiful and romantic sky garden.
After An Mu Lan woke up, Ling Xihan had been protecting her as if she were her most precious possession, unwilling to let her out of her sight for even a second.
The wedding, which had been delayed for a year, had been prepared by Ling Xihan long before everything was ready.
By the time An Mu Lan had changed into her white wedding dress and walked onto the red carpet, she saw the tall woman at the end of the carpet, now wearing a red and fiery polar-fitting gown, like a blazing flame in the sun, it radiates a heat that can burn a person completely.
An Mu Lan smiled brightly and walked slowly but firmly towards Ling Xihan.
Facing the priest who officiated the ceremony, they exchanged rings and kissed in front of the guests, before An Mu Lan smiled and said,
"Thank you for waiting for me being a belated bride."
Lingshihan looked at her with an expression on her face that had never been softer and warmer, and she said with a light smile,
"And you will show me that it was worth all the waiting. My wife, I love you."
A familiar emotionless mechanical voice rings out in her head,
【Mission accomplished ......】
An Mu Lan blinked back tears, her eyebrows slightly arched and the two dimples at the corners of her mouth deep, just as she had been at first sight. She wrapped her arms around Ling Xihan's neck and kissed her, and in this intimate position, whispered,
"I love you too, Ling Xihan."
【..... cutting the corresponding memories of the system's host, Mu Lan.
The system host, Mu Lan, has exited the cannon fodder character "An Mu Lan".】

Why the Disability Pride Flag has a black field
Warning (Seriously): visit this website with caution, especially if you have high empathy, or are prone to anxiety or depression. Filicide of Disabled persons, and Ableism in the news / Public Opinion, in reaction to those murders:
March 1st: The Disability Day of Mourning
Remember not only their names (Remember! Their! Names! Remember their Humanity!), but also remember that this is happening -- that even after over a quarter century of supposed civil rights protections for Disabled -- we are still seen as unbearable burdens to our families.
I wish websites like this, and days like this, were unneeded.

Clarence, Sheryl, and Avocato
Another rant because these are fun. This time featuring the holy trifecta of fucked up parents!
Ok so, I can hear y'all already, “But Avocato is a good dad! He died for his son! He did all the things for his boy! You even said so!” Shut up I did. I did say those things because Avocato is one of my favorite characters, but he is objectively not the best parent. (Especially when compared to Nightfall or Gary)
List of Crimes!
Never verbally told Lil’Cato he loved him (Actions speak louder than words but kids need to hear that!)
Aggressively strict parenting (“Fourteen years of pure calisthenics!)((And also this could just be me, Super strict parenting just, isn’t for me. But I know it’s not necessarily abuse? It's complicated I mostly added this one to make the list bigger))
And the biggest one, Almost killed his son. Yes he didn’t, but Lil’Cato will always fucking remember the moments where his dad pointed a gun at him, and considered. It should have never been an option. And again I hear you, “But he was working for Lord Commander! He had no choice! He was emotionally fucked up!”
This is all true! But he shouldn’t have put Lil’Cato in that scenario in the first place. Obviously, we don’t know why he worked with Lord Commander for so long, but the second he found out that filicide was necessary, he should have grabbed his son and ran for the hills.
All this being said, however. He isn’t the worst parent in Final Space.
Even though he did consider killing his son, he didn’t. And very quickly tried to give Lord Commander a pink slip via shooting the jerk in the face. He then dedicates the literal rest of his life to saving his son. No, that doesn’t make up for the neglect and trauma, but it’s a lot better then what the other characters on this list do.
Sheryl! Oh Sheryl, you polarizing force you. Some people love you and will defend your actions to the death, others will actually go on terrifying rants about what they would do to you, given the chance. I’ve already ranted about some of your failings, but also how the show kinda wrote you to be hated.
List of Crimes!
Didn’t (and doesn’t!) love Gary
Abusive
Neglectful (Oooooh boy, literally leaving his life, and only coming back when John died. She didn’t comfort the grieving Gary at all, only staying around long enough to drunkenly mope, and then leaving again)
Also, like everyone on this list, tries to kill her child!
Ok, now here’s where it gets fun. Sheryl does try to commit filicide, but she does it while Gary is an adult. Avocato and Clarence both do it when their children are still children. Young and dependant and trusting. Sheryl does it while Gary is a grown ass adult.
This is an important distinction? All of it’s gonna be traumatizing, but Gary had already lived a large bit of his life not knowing/hating his mom. Her trying to stab him (especially when he saw it coming.) is going to be way less traumatic than when Avocato held Lil’ Cato at gunpoint. Or when Clarence blindsided Fox.
Again! Not absolving her of her mistakes! She left Gary at his lowest moment, and only came back in his life after he sought her out, and then used him in a con. She is the world's shittiest mom, but I really hope to see her grow and be a better person and care for Gary. A) Because Gary deserves to be happy and a parental figure could go a really long way in that regard. B) Because Sheryl herself deserves it. We don’t know enough about her past to crucify her, all we know is that she is a flawed person who made massive mistakes, but who isn't? Olan made a beautiful world with amazing characters that aren’t black and white! Characters with depth and reasons behind their actions, characters who might have great intentions and still cause harm! (Quinn, Nightfall, and Avocato all sacrificing themselves RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR LOVED ONES. I GET IT, YOU HAD NO CHOICE, BUT LOOK AT THEM (Gary, Ash, and Lil’ Cato) THEY HAVE TRAUMA NOW).
And with all that talk about the characters being fully fleshed out people who are beautiful, let's talk about my least favorite character of all time. Clarence
This… Might get a bit character bashy, which I hate. Blackkat is right, if you can’t write a character without bashing them, you shouldn’t write them at all. Which I fully believed in, until I started writing and realised “Oh my God Clarence ticks off every irredeemable box I have I hate him so much.”
So, I’ll try to be unbiased? That being said, I am heavily biased and want Clarence to die.
So why do I hate Clarence? Why is he so much worse than the other characters on this list, on the show? Why do I think Hushfluffles/Tom deserves more mercy than this little goblin?
List of Crimes!
Abusive
Dismissive of his children
Betrayal
And the most successful attempt at Filicide we get to see so far.
He betrays the group, steals the keys and is going to ‘team-up’ with Sheryl. (I mean I’m not straight but I get it, Sheryl is a badass fighter, cool bandit, and if you don’t care for morals she’s an all-around interesting gal)
Fox is going to let him go, Fox wants him to stop, but he also won’t hurt his father.
Clarence in turn, tazes him, shorting out his biomechanical life support and sending him falling into the metal wall.
Later we find out that Clarence didn’t intend to kill Fox, that he only wanted the keys and was lashing out because his kids found a new family to love. And they didn’t love him as much.
Look I’m running out of steam but Clarence is selfish and self-serving (1) He’s greedy (2) And he actively hurts his family (3) Not just a passive, I’m sorry for the trauma when I almost killed you, let me make it up. Or the, hey I abandoned you shortly after birth because I never really planned on loving anyone, let alone you. Sheryl and Avocato fucked up bad, but they try to make up for it (Sheryl we only see being ‘good’ for about 5 minutes, but still) Clarence only apologizes once he realizes he has nothing left, all because of his own greed.
“I abandoned everything I had in the world for you! You can’t leave me with nothing!
“Aw yeah, but you see, you left yourself with nothing.”

Today’s tangent
A familiar old HADES DID NOTHING WRONG post was on my dash again, and as I skimmed past my eye caught on their complaint that Disney not only villainized Hades but “glorified Hercules, who totally WASN’T a bastard child who killed his children in a fit of insanity due to Hera’s jealous spite.”
And... the phrasing makes my head tilt? Because it comes off as “He wasn’t as wonderful as they say! He’s a bastard who committed filicide!”
But neither of those is really on Heracles, is it? It was Zeus who raped his mother by deception, and this isn’t Westeros so there’s no reason for us to look down on children born out of wedlock. And even the OP straight up admits that he killed his children (and Megara, for that matter) because Hera drove him insane, so by any reasonable standard Hera should bear a good chunk if not all of the responsibility (even though she didn’t, because of the everpresent Job Defense of “Suck it, I’m [a] God”).
You’d think you could at least blame him for things that were entirely his fault, like braining his music teacher or sacking an entire city to rape a girl.
(Hmm. Disney’s Hercules reboot where Persephone exists and at the end she takes over the Underworld after Hades gets booted into the soul whirlpool?)
