Am I watching the canucks game while writing this? Yes, and stressing over it
When they said that men are always the most dramatic when they catch the common cold, you didn’t believe them. You thought it was an exaggeration. But the way Jack has been acting the past three days? Yeah, it’s not an exaggeration. You’re both curing his cold while nursing your own headache. One that’s been a product of his whining. This man is acting as if he’s on his deathbed, a damsel in distress, a whiny little-. You love him, but you wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of sedating him for a day so that you could get some peace and quiet. You would like to know how Ellen handled him whenever he got sick. It’s almost unbearable.
“Babyyy?”
“Am I dying? It feels like I’m dying.”
“Everything hurts…”
“More medicine? I don’t need it. It’s disgusting.”
“Can you please get me a painkiller? I do need it…”
The need to hit him with a pan to knock him out for a few hours is concerningly high. You’re trying to be patient with him. He’s not feeling well, and not being active, those are things that he hates and you know that. You’re really trying to be patient with him. However, he makes it very hard to when he’s whining every other minute.
You hide yourself in the kitchen to make sure Jack will leave you alone for a minute. You absentmindedly stir canned chicken soup in a small pan. When it starts smoking you take it off the heat and grab a bowl. You pour the soup into the bowl and grab a spoon. You carefully walk to your bedroom with the bowl, a bottle of water, and a pill. You open the door a little wider and walk up to him. He sniffles but manages to crack out a small smile. “There you are. I missed you.” He says softly, making your heart melt. Sick as ever and he still manages to make butterflies flutter. “I was only gone for a minute.” You say gently as you place the bottle and pill on his nightstand. You hold out the bowl of soup. He grimaces at the sight of it. You give him a stern look. “You need to eat something. Otherwise, you won’t get better. And make sure you take a pill after or while you eat.” You can’t help but fuss over him a bit.
He groans in response but takes the bowl from you. He starts eating at a slow pace. You sit by his bedside and watch him eat. Pale, sweaty face, hair pointing in all sorts of directions, and yet he still is so handsome to you. He notices that you’re staring and glances at you. He lets out a raspy chuckle. “There’s nothing noteworthy to stare at right now.” You smile and move his hair out of his face. It’s starting to become a little long again. “There’s plenty to stare at. You’ll always be pretty in my eyes.” His eyes shine at your comment. “Pretty?” He asks with amusement in his voice. You roll your eyes but can’t help but let a grin creep up your face. “Sorry. Handsome.” He smiles triumphantly. “That’s what I thought.”
He soon finishes his bowl of soup. You take it from him and set it aside. You hand him the bottle of water and the small white pill. He takes it from you. You notice how clammy his hands are. You frown as you watch him down the pill followed by big gulps of water. You place the back of your hand against his forehead. Your frown deepens when you feel how warm he still is. He knows better than to fight you back so he lets you do your thing. “Your fever is not letting up. You should get some more rest. That might help.” You say softly. He nods and slides underneath the blankets. He pulls it up to his chin. You gently run a hand through his hair. “I’ll be in the living room. Just holler if you need me.” You say softly. Although, you’re secretly hoping he’ll sleep for a couple of hours. For both of your sakes. “Alright.” He croaks before shutting his eyes. You watch over him until you’re sure he’s fallen asleep. You get up carefully and make your way to the living room.
***
Time passes by quickly when you’re finally able to relax. You check the time on your phone only to realize Jack has been sleeping for a while now. You get up from the couch and quietly walk back towards your bedroom. You peek your head in only to see Jack snoring away without a care in the world. You smile at the sight, happy that he’s getting some rest. You realize that the blanket has slipped down a little. You carefully walk up to him and tuck him back in. You tuck the sides underneath him. Tightly wrapping him up in the blanket. He looks like a burrito. A 5’11 burrito.
You step back and take in the sight. You let out a quiet snicker. You pull out your phone and take a picture. Saving that for later. You look at him one more time before leaving the room and going back to the couch. You throw yourself down onto the couch and look at the picture you’ve taken. You snort. Jack’s going to kill you for sure once he finds out. You send it to the Hughes brothers group chat that Jack has ever so kindly thrown you into.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another hour passes as you’re peacefully watching something on the television. You laugh at the conversation going on in the group chat. You hear some rustling from the bedroom. You’re about to get up when you hear a hoarse holler. “Baby!” You chuckle, “yeah bub?” He lets out a loud groan. “You did not send that picture in the group chat!” You let out a laugh and make your way towards him. You snicker when you see his phone in his hand. The group chat is still open. “I did. It was way too hilarious to pass up. You were like a burrito. Or should I say a Jackrito? One of a kind.” He pouts at you. “Really? A Jackrito? Was that necessary?” He asks, almost offended by your shenanigans. You snicker. “Yes. It’s funny.” He crosses his arms and huffs. “I don’t find you very amusing right now.” He retorts before he gets into a coughing fit. You pat his back, helping him through it. “You’ll find it amusing when you get better.” He glares at you and shakes his head. He stops coughing. “You’re still in trouble. Don’t forget that, because I certainly won’t.” You let out a snort. “Whatever you say bub.” You look at him affectionately. You suddenly get a great idea. “I should send the picture to your mom.” His eyes widen at what you said. “No!” He exclaims. You burst out into laughter. He huffs and pulls the blanket over him. “I’m glad you are having fun while I’m dying.” You roll your eyes. “Now you’re being dramatic again. For the millionth time, you are not dying Jack. You simply have the common cold.” He lets out a raspy chuckle. He lifts the blanket slightly and pulls you into him. He covers you both with the blanket. “It feels like I’m dying, especially when you aren’t around.” You can’t help but smile at that, despite his theatrics. You can feel yourself getting tired. Even though it isn’t that late yet. The warmth he’s emitting is so comforting. You let yourself fall asleep in his arms.
***
A week later he’s back on his feet. But he transferred his germs to you. You’re as sick as a dog. He walks into your bedroom with a bowl of soup in his hands. “This will make you feel better.” You glare at him. He laughs, “are you still mad at me for getting you sick?” You nod, “what do you think?” He snickers and sets the bowl aside. He sits by your side and rubs your arm tenderly. “I said sorry baby. But…” he trails off. He shows you a cheeky grin. “It’s only the common cold. Don’t be so dramatic. You still want to hit him with a pan. “I hate you.” He rolls his eyes before planting a kiss on your forehead. “I love you too. Get better soon, okay?”

a 'partners in crime' installment - luke castellan x dionysus!reader
words: 3.7k
summary: (established relationship) suggestive banter lol The one where Percy meets his two favorite counselors at Camp Half-Blood. Also known as the three times Percy is completely oblivious about you two, plus the time he learns what L-O-V-E looks like for two teen demigods. (Luke Castellan x fem!Dionysus!reader)
a/n: PERCY POV!!! maybe the real enemy was the blue balls Luke got from a clueless 12-year-old. you’re gonna tell me you wouldn’t overthrow the gods too? scream at me in the comments and feel free to reblog :)
(posted 2/29/24, edited!!! i think!!! four hours of sleep later and a big kiss to @hotchfiles miss lari as always for inspo mwah)
What’s in a name?
One of the last defining memories Percy Jackson had with his mother before arriving at Camp Half-Blood was her reminder that names have power. He’s held fast to that belief, treading carefully with his words in this unfamiliar place that he’s supposed to call home so soon after losing his own.
Being the new kid for the hundredth time in his life means that he’s accustomed to change, much less introducing himself as Percy Jackson, whatever that means at this point—but then becoming known simply as the kid who causes trouble. What then, is he supposed to do, when his first friend at camp introduces him to a girl who embodies the name trouble?
To Luke, through Percy’s actions, it seems as if he’s trying to reclaim a crown that currently belongs to the beloved head counselor of Camp Half-Blood.
The dining pavilion is filled with mouth-watering scents and the sound of chattering campers to the point that it’s a bit overstimulating if he thinks too hard about it. Mr. Brunn—er, Chiron told him to take it easy after the events from yesterday, but he feels a bit tough on luck after making Luke run circles around camp trying to find what he’s good at.
“Is there a Greek god of disappointment? Maybe someone should ask if he’s missing a kid,” Percy says glumly, pushing the mac and cheese around on his plate. Luke sighs, letting the boy to his right speak.
“Oizys,” Chris mumbles through full cheeks before he cocks his head at the 12-year-old, “but she’s a goddess, and her whole thing isn’t really disappointment, it’s more like failure.”
Luke looks to Chris with a half smile before looking back at the kid and saying, “We’re gonna find the thing you’re good at. I know it.” He looks like he’s going to say something else before something, or someone catches his attention and it’s almost like the older boy is transfixed, eyes shining with mischief or something deeper that Percy’s young brain couldn’t comprehend just yet.
“And here comes trouble…” Luke says with a smirk, eyes following your figure until your feet take you to their table. The sandy-haired boy twists around, expecting to see a goddess of some sort until he sees you, violet eyes and a lilt of something sinister—giving off the energy of someone who holds power but also likes to fuck with it. You cross your arms over your chest, gaze floating over the three boys and at the tip of your chin, Luke takes his plate off the table, prompting you to hop up and slide onto the smooth surface in front of him.
“You look like someone kicked your puppy, so you must be the new kid. Peter, right?”
A snort of laughter comes from behind your slouched form, Luke partially concealed but body obviously shaking with amusement as he looks at you.
“He might just turn out to be a puppy kicker one day,” the son of Hermes jokes, “Meet Percy Jackson.”
“That’s not…”
You sigh at Luke’s idea of a joke, face incredulous as you lean over and conjure strawberries onto Percy’s plate. He’d never seen anything like that before, someone so casual about their abilities, but he didn’t have much of a reference past yesterday. This camp keeps surprising him in ways he’s never imagined possible.
“Heard D gave you a hard time earlier, sorry about him—I’d blame it on withdrawals but he’s just an asshole,” you offer with a smile and a handshake as you introduce yourself, watching the boy’s eyes widen with wonder.
“It’s not your fault…I’m used to being the new kid.”
Eyebrows furrowing at his tone, you lean in closer, voice turning serious. You’re a lot like Mr. D in the sense that it’s easy for you to poke at the kids who come through here for a reaction to make sure they’re okay mentally. When they don’t react is usually the call for help.
“Well, new kid, if anyone gives you a problem here at camp, you let me know. Even if it’s these two hooligans, or if it’s my dad.”
“You’re talking to our lovely head counselor, Percy. She calls the shots around here,” Chris chimes in jest. But only one part of your sentence sticks in his mind as he whips his head up from munching on a berry.
“He’s your dad?”
“Yeah, unfortunately,” you giggle, “and though you’re sweet and I would love to have you as a sibling, he kind of has a rule on having too many kids at once, unlike other gods.”
“A rule he’s already broken,” Luke drones, hand fidgeting with the black bandana tied around your thigh, “but who knows? If Percy ends up to be one of you, well…may the gods have mercy on us all.”
A deadpan stare is directed at the scarred boy, and you swipe at his curls like a feral cat, making him wince and laugh all the same as he bats you away.
“Tough shit, 11. Do you know how many hellions inhibit your cabin? Your dad inflicts agony on me personally every time another one of your siblings walks past the boundaries.”
The petty squabble is interrupted by the chime of the bell over your heads, but you two are still in a world of your own. It reminds Percy of the time he watched two subway rats fight over a pizza slice on the 6—he didn’t really know who to root for then either. Chris sighs and gets up, nudging Luke to follow, which he does begrudgingly as he claps his large hand on your leg. You hiss.
“Our turn!” Luke says with a hint of sarcasm.
“Our turn for what?”
“Burnt offerings,” you explain as you chomp on a strawberry, “the gods like the smell, so it gets their attention before you say a prayer.” You notice Percy stay in his seat, which makes a smile pull at your lips, “Think you’re off the hook for today though, bud. Or you can be just like me.”
“Don’t give him any ideas, trouble. I’ll throw in a few for Hestia.” Luke chews at his lip as he leans over you to grab a few berries off of Percy’s plate to toss into the fire for you.
“You don’t pray?”
“I’m not really the religious type. I’ve got what I need,” you concede, leaning back on your palms as you watch the son of Hermes stand for a few extra seconds at the hearth. “Besides, my godrent is right over there, and Luke worries enough for me. It’s more his thing,” you say with a lazy smile. The campers filing out of the dining hall wave at you and you enthusiastically greet everyone with dancing fingers. He doesn’t think he’s ever met anyone that…happy to be on the job, but things work differently around here, so he doesn’t think much of your upbeat attitude.
“Eat up. Some of that strength has to go to you. Gonna need it.” You say ruffling Percy’s hair, and when Luke comes back, he tugs at the shoelaces of your boots until you kick his hands away. You both share a smile like people do a secret, even here in the open air.
“Do they like the smell of burnt mac and cheese?” Percy says curiously, eating another spoonful of the meal. His head hurts at another thing to consider in this brand-new world he’s walked into.
“They like the smell of begging,” Luke grins, and you laugh like a firework going off, making Percy’s lips pull up into a smile.
“I’m not much of a beggar though, if you ask me.”
The son of Hermes hums at you like he wants to say otherwise, and you slap his chest as you suck air through your teeth. Beneath the wood top of the table and with Percy being none the wiser, your fingers intertwine with Luke’s like it’s second nature.
“You burn what you’ll miss the most. Then they know you really mean what you’re about to say, so they listen.”
Luke takes a breath after explaining how things work for the nth time to the kid, knowing Percy’s quite persistent about making his dad notice him. He remembers being jaded too—striving to be the best for a lick of his dad’s attention and all of his efforts were done in vain. Even though the kid’s arrival at camp was a bit unexpected, Luke doesn’t mind showing him around.
Hopefully, less work on your end means that he can spend more time with you once this is over with— but by the looks of how the day is going so far, he’s not so sure. He hopes his offerings reach the gods and they grant him extra patience for his good deeds. Watching you laugh at something Percy says as you all walk out of the dining pavilion, Luke wonders if you know that every offering he burns for the goddess of the hearth and home is so that she’ll protect you.
—-
“Lights out in 10 minutes, cabin 11! Everyone ready for bed?”
The sound of your voice jolts Percy awake from his post-dinner nap and he blinks slowly until he sees you walking towards him with extra blankets and pillows in your grasp. The other campers were kind of stand-offish, and after praying to his mom he was overwhelmed with the feeling of missing her, so much so that it drained the rest of his energy.
“Long day, huh bud?”
Drowsy with sleep, for a moment, Percy forgets where he is—the unfamiliar walls of the cabin making him shift with unease as he rubs at his eyes. The blurry version of you makes his chest go warm and for a second, it’s like—
“Mom?”
He blinks again, his pale face turning red when he realizes his slip-up. Percy’s shoulders drop when he hears giggles from somewhere in the big cabin and you reach out to smooth his hair away from his face with a gentle smile.
“Don’t worry about it. Everyone who first comes to 11 gets nightmares. For some of them, they don’t leave,” you mutter. Percy notices your eyes flicker over to Luke’s bed, where he’s zipping up his hoodie and chatting with one of his half-siblings. Cabin 11 is finally quieting down for the night—children scrambling into their bunks, doing nighttime routines, and having quiet conversations. It’s all so weird, this being everyone’s normal.
“You’re not alone though. Saw you earlier, outside. I still pray to my mom sometimes. She's quite the listener,” you say with a sad twinkle in your eye. The kid sniffs as you hand him the pillows and blankets, finally meeting your gaze.
“Did your mom…” Die too? The words feel like lead in his throat, feeling heavy as he swallows it down. He doesn’t want to cry in front of the pretty counselor, much less speak the truth, because if he says it out loud, it means his mom dying must have been real. Also since you’ve seen him sit in the dark of the forest burning blue jelly beans like a freak. What he didn’t know is that you pride yourself on being one. It takes one to know one, after all.
“Yeah. Makes for one hell of an origin story, but I found my place here, and people who care. I know you will too, when you’re rea—” Your words trail off when you see Luke walk past the both of you with a cool expression before he nods towards the door, and you squeeze Percy’s shoulder before getting up.
“Night guys! It’s getting late so we’ll have to do a story next time, okay?” You walk down the aisle patting heads and tucking in smaller campers, and he hears you whack the younger Stoll brother when he teasingly says, “It’s not fair that Luke gets a bedtime story and we don’t…”
“Connor, enough. I’ve lost count of how many times you’ve woken up and called me mom, so save it for tomorrow.” He must have been the one laughing earlier.
“Everyone say goodnight trouble!” Luke calls out with a coy expression, making you roll your eyes as you flick the light off to a symphony of jeers. It’s finally quiet as Percy is propped up against some pillows that smell like raspberries and soft cotton before he realizes he has to pee.
But Chris said harpies hunt kids after curfew… he thinks.
In a moment of sheer panic, Percy looks around in the darkness of the cabin before the sound of your cackling pierces through the dim light from the outside. He hops up from the makeshift cot and tugs his shoes back on, slowly creeping past the long row of bunks to not disturb other campers before he gets to the door. Your head turns quickly to the intrusion as you spring away from Luke, stubbing a cigarette underneath the wood panel out of sight when Percy steps through the doorway.
“Sorry, I need to use the bathroom,” he says sheepishly as Luke nods, scratching his neck and leaning a far distance away from you. Under the low burning lamps, Percy notices Luke’s cheeks redden and he wonders if he is interrupting something, but the urge to go increases as he steps between you two.
“Right. I’ll walk you to yours?” Luke blurts in one breath. With a wordless smile on your lips, you nod before Percy purposely interrupts this time.
“I can walk her, it’s on the way to the bathrooms, right?”
If only this poor kid knew he was being the cockblock of the century.
“Yeah, Percy’s got me. The harpies won’t like you missing curfew, Castellan,” you tease, stepping around him with a shit-eating grin. Your hair almost floats in the gentle breeze, and Luke rolls his eyes.
“Stay out of trouble. I mean it,’ he sighs, before shoving you off the porch, and you laugh at the irony of his words. Looking back at Luke, Percy noticed his eyes were on you like he wanted to live in your skin, which was equal parts disgusting and confusing to the 12-year-old. His steps double in pace as you both walk down the path and a brief side glance at your stifled smile quickly makes the kid wonder if you’d let him. Pushing the sleeves of Luke’s hoodie past your elbows, you wave at Percy’s rushing figure as he almost bolts to the bathroom and you lean against the doorway of your empty cabin. You turn the light on and look across the way to see your boyfriend still leaning against his door, so you flip him off. Of course, he takes that as his cue to saunter over.
But then the loud clanging sound of pipes bursting reaches both of your ears and toilet water floods the dirt near the back end of your cabin.
So close.
“I’m gonna go check on Annie to see if she’s still on duty. Tough luck, babe,” you giggle, pressing a kiss to his cheek before walking in the direction that Percy went, sending the son of Hermes to drag his feet towards your cabin, alone (he didn’t expect to fall asleep propped over your covers waiting up for you, but a lot happened in that damn bathroom).
“Hey, today feel like a winning kind of day to you?” Annabeth smirks at the son of Hermes. Next to them, Percy feels a hand clap him on the shoulder and all three of them turn to see you donning red.
“Didn’t you three hear the conch? Wouldn’t want you to fall behind,” you say with a grin as Luke steps up to you and whistles lowly.
“Didn’t know you were playing today. It’s a shame you look that good in red.”
Annabeth fake gags as she crosses her arms to say, “You’re also currently on enemy territory if you haven’t noticed.”
“Oh, you wound me. I’m not a threat. Percy, I obviously don’t have the flag, right?”
He nods a bit dumbly, still worried about the mechanics of the game and the part he has to play for the blue team, but no one else seems to share his concerns.
“Anyways, sorry I’m not on your team, Perce. The Ares kids snatched me up as soon as my name was on the roster, so I came to wish you all luck.”
“This better not be a diversion tactic, trouble,” Luke simpers, playfully tugging at your staff, which you use for leverage to step up onto a rock to meet him at eye level.
“Nah. You know I like the competition, angelface,” you whisper, almost daring him to do something.
“Bite me, trouble.”
There’s a fire in his eyes you’d love to stoke, but now’s not the time or place. You can’t help but indulge though—the both of you enjoy the reactions you can pull from each other.
“You’d like it too much.”
“Alright now,” Annabeth groans, calling your name, rolling her eyes as she pulls at Luke’s arm, “Gotta remember he’s your enemy!”
“I’M TRYING!” You laugh, shaking your head and walking back towards your team as you shoot them a fake salute. It all happens too quickly as Percy’s unable to catch the spitfire words between the two of you, thinking further about how he might get maimed during this game (which in the grand scheme of things, he almost does. Thanks Clarisse).
“Those two are hopeless! Walk faster, sunshine—we lost too much time watching whatever that was.” Percy stumbles along the forest path as he follows Annabeth, the both of them leaving Luke smirking to himself as he follows the rest of their team.
Hours later, at Clarisse’s muddy feet and holding her broken spear, Percy hears cheering in the distance as he watches the blue team led by Luke waving the red flag in one hand and your legs supported by his other. You’re in a fireman’s hold across his shoulders and everyone watches as the son of Hermes spins you around like a Tilt-a-Whirl until the sound of your shrieks is audible from the shoreline. He sets you down gently, dominant hand still around your waist as he snickers, “Got my win and my girl. Must be time to celebrate.” You laugh at his absurdity, pulling his helmet off and wiping the sweat off his forehead with your bandana.
“You’re always going to be a loser in my eyes.”
Slapping the plush of your hip, the sound echoes in the air—suddenly quiet as you gasp. But you’re not looking at Luke anymore, but rather the gleaming trident above Percy’s head as it’s revealed he’s a forbidden child. His jaw tightens at the sight, and there are a lot of emotions running through him, remembering Thalia and knowing that his plans will have to be altered once more because of Percy Jackson. You squeeze his hand before walking away from him to follow your dad and Chiron to the Big House, shooting him a nervous glance.
Damn.
The boys have been sparring for hours, and just as you think Percy’s getting the hang of it, Luke thrusts forward with an energy no one should have towards a 12-year-old. Although a bit concerning, he does have a lot to catch up on how to fight like a demigod before his quest in a few days.
“Take a break or else you’ll be crawling away from camp by the end of the week,” you joke, handing Percy and Luke bottles of cold water. Your boyfriend takes big gulps before pouring the rest over his head, leaving you gaping and a little hot under his stare as he nudges your chin and winks.
“You’re doing that on purpose!”
Luke shrugs slyly, and the both of you watch Percy catch his breath. He leans over your shoulder, the tone of his voice sultry as it tickles your ear, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other word would smell as sweet.”
You bite your lip, before bursting with laughter—which isn’t exactly the reaction he thought you’d have. Maybe he should’ve finished reading the sonnet before falling asleep, but you always take too long with your nighttime skincare routine.
“That doesn’t mean what you think it means, but you’re cute for trying,” you coo, leaning closer so that your cheek touches his. Luke’s whole face is warm from exertion and now embarrassment, but he smiles nonetheless at the proximity. He can’t believe he still misses you, even when you’re skin-to-skin like this.
“That stanza…Isn’t it about names being meaningless?” Percy says between gasps of air before he pours the rest of the water bottle over his head like Luke did. He’s looking up at the both of you as he leans against a tree, instantly feeling more rejuvenated.
You jerk up from your seated position on the large rocks, excited to talk about Shakespeare, and Luke almost pouts at the loss of your attention.
“Yeah! Good job, bud. I forget you went to a hoity-toity charter school,” you say tongue-in-cheek, before turning back to your boy.
“So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called, retain that dear perfection which he owes without that title. Romeo, doff thy name, and, for thy name, which is no part of thee, take all myself. You’re gonna have to interpret that one yourself, angelface.”
“Trust I have no fucking clue but you sound really hot when you talk dirty to me,” Luke says with a shrug. Percy laughs at that, before finally bringing up the question that’s been on his mind since Luke introduced you to him.
“Why do you call her trouble? She seems okay to me.”
“Thanks,” you say dryly, but the older boy leans on his arm with a lovestruck expression as he gazes at you. Oh…Percy thinks, brain feeling freshly washed. How did he miss that?
“She used to get in trouble a lot,” he says, before you elbow him hard, “I mean, we used to get in trouble, she’d always drag me into it.”
“You always offered! Don’t twist the fucking story,” you shriek, and the boys laugh at your exasperation.
“Yeah anyways, she’d always find me. Still does, my partner in crime. Trouble always comes for me,” Luke murmurs, waggling his eyebrows and intertwining your fingers together. Your jaw drops and cheeks flush and Percy thinks he understands better now, but gets confused again with what you do next.
You almost slap the goddamn scar off that boy’s face.

request: can you write another one like your uncle jack story? i loveddd it!! maybe jack and luke are babysitting quinn’s daughter. i feel like they’d mac and cheese for dinner and both completely struggle doing it. and when it’s bedtime the toddler has a tantrum and they so gentle with her (but also kinda freaking out and don’t know what to do) and end up giving her ice cream and letting her watch a movie with them and she falls asleep on one of them. and quinn and mom come home like really guys?! you let a three year old tell you what to do
word count: 1.2k
“What are you doing? you don't put the tinfoil bit in the microwave?!” Jack scolded his younger brother Luke as he yanked open the microwave before it set itself on fire.
Luke stood dumbfounded, “how else are you supposed to cook it?”
the “it” in question being a mini cup of mac and cheese. Quinn thought it would be the safest dinner option and yet…
“Okay, let me do this you go entertain the baby” Jack shoos Luke away and towards an adorable toddler who smiled gummily up at her uncles.
Luke scoops the little girl up, who giggles all the way to the couch. Luke plops them both down and reaches for the tv remote.
“Shit!” Jack swears as he rips the microwave open. “Luke! You put in too much water!”
Luke clicks the volume up on the tv. “You like paw patrol! Yeah, let's watch paw patrol!” Luke cheers to his niece who continues to giggle at her uncle's antics.
“Doggy!” the little girl shouts as she points at the screen. Luke nods enthusiastically as he tunes out Jack's grumblings from the kitchen.
15 minutes later, dinner was served.
Luke picked at his plate, “dude…”
“if you say that this is gross i swear…” Jack cut in.
Before a small fight could break out, both brothers' attention were brought to the little girl in the high chair. “Yummy!” she smiled, lifting up her little plastic spoon and shovelling more of the questionable mac and cheese into her mouth.
“ha! She likes it!”
“Jack… she's 2.. She was eating canned mashed peas like a month ago,” Luke replies.
Jack scowls. “It's literally your fault that the mac and cheese-”
“Play now!” their niece once again recaptures their attention as she shows them her empty plate.
Jack gets up from the table and takes his niece out of her high chair.
After an hour of playing, the brothers get a text.
hughes bros👨‍👨‍👦
quinn: Put my baby to bed now it's getting late. If she gets a little fussy read her another bedtime story she usually falls asleep after two stories.
“your daddy says it's bedtime!” Jack coos to the little girl sitting in front of him and she immediately starts pouting.
She throws the bright red block she's holding and yells, “no!”
“Luke, you wanna put her to bed?” Jack asks as he watches the toddler throw a small tantrum. She was rolling around on the floor now, toys long forgotten.
“No sleep! No sleep!” she repeated, looking up at her uncles with her infamous puppy dog eyes.
Luke walks over and picks her up off the floor. “Why don't we go read a story! That's so much fun!” Luke exclaims happily and the little girl in his arms continues to frown.
“yeah let's read a story!” Jack cheers in an attempt to get the young girl to stop pouting. “I love stories!”
“No!” she shouts again.
Luke ignores her shouts, and carries her into her bedroom where she continues to pout. “Uncle Jacks going to pick out a really fun book while I get you ready for bed, okay?”
“No!”
After 20 minutes of fighting with the young girl, she was finally all ready for bed. As soon as she was in her crib, she immediately settled down and was happy to hear her story. She insisted on both of her uncles reading to her, and by the time they were done the first story she had already drifted off to sleep.
Jack and Luke sat in the living room, both on their phones as they waited for their brother and his wife to return.
“Wow this has been really easy!” Luke joked.
Jack looked over, rolling his eyes. “You almost burnt down the apartment”
“Yeah but the baby's asleep now so does it really matter?”
Jack shakes his head, “i’m not even going to reply to that”
“‘ACK! ‘UKE!” the wails of their niece ring out through the quiet apartment.
Both boys look at each other, and then immediately rush into their niece's bedroom. “What's up?” Jack coos, voice soft as he approaches the little girl with tears streaming down her face.
The little girl continues to cry. She stands up by the edge of the crib and holds her arms out to her uncles. Luke takes the hint and lifts the girl out of her crib and into his arms.
“No sleep” she whispers against her uncle Luke's chest and both boys stare blankly at each other.
“But you have to go to sleep,” Luke tries, but the girl shakes her head.
“No!” she cries.
The cries only get worse, so Jack has the brilliant idea of feeding the girl some ice cream.
“Two year olds can have ice cream right?” he asks as he pulls the large tub out of his older brother's freezer.
Luke nods, “yeah i'm sure vanilias safe for kids”  he shrugs the shoulder that his niece is not laying against.
“You want some ice cream?” Jack asks as he holds a baby spoon up with a tiny bit of ice cream. The girl eagerly nods and reaches one hand out for the spoon.
The boys move to the couch, the little girl sat between them with her little bowl of ice cream in her lap. A movie softly plays in the background, lulling the girl to sleep with her hand in her ice cream bowl and head pressed against her uncle jack.
At the sound of the front door unlocking, both boys sit upright. “Shit! Don't wake her up!” Luke whisper-shouts as he stands up and starts clearing off the coffee table. There was ice cream everywhere, courtesy of the sleeping 2 year old clinging to Jack's side.
“Take her bowl!” Jack whispers as he tries to lift the baby's hand out of the sticky bowl.
“You gave my daughter ice cream before bed?” Quinn questions, surveying the messy kitchen and living room.
Luke, hands full of the incriminating ice cream bowls, shrugs. “She’s teething?” he says, but it comes out more of a question.
“My baby's teething? Are her molars coming through?” your worried voice drifts through the apartment as you step inside.
“No!”
“Yes!”
Jack and Luke both speak at the same time.
“Right… okay i’ll take my baby back now!” Quinn speaks. When he reaches down to lift his daughter up though, he sees her ice cream coated hands. Quinn doesn't have to say anything.
“Right well! This was really nice so…"Jack trails off when Quinn finally has his daughter in his arms. She was asleep, so what did it really matter if she had some ice cream?
“Yeah! I’ll see you next time!” Luke says, retreating into the guest bedroom.
“Yeah, what he said! It's been great!” Jack mimics Luke.
“You're cleaning this up tomorrow,” Quinn's voice is fully in dad mode as he looks around the messy room.
Jack nods enthusiastically before bidding the small family his goodnights.
“Thank you for babysitting!” you whisper yell, which Jack responds with a quick thumbs up.
A second later the guest bedroom door is clicked shut and Quinn and you are left standing in your quiet living room.
“They're never babysitting again” Quinn sighs, looking down at his daughter who was covered in ice cream.
“No, they're not” you sigh, leaning over and pressing a soft kiss to your daughter's forehead. “Letting a 2 year old tell them what to do… you got those boys wrapped around your finger!” you whisper to your little girl.

Like I Can (Part 1)
Summary: After yet another bad date and tired of swiping on apps, the Dagger Squad steps in to help you out by setting you up on a series of blind dates. Much to Rooster’s dismay.
Warnings: fuff, slight angst. Minors DNI
Length: 3.2K
Pairing: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw X Female Reader
Part 2
(We’re kicking of Valentine’s Day a bit early❣️ Enjoy!)
Tumblr media
“I’m all for growing the sport, but Brady buying an MLP team is ruining the integrity of the league. He may be the GOAT of football, but he has nothing on Ben John’s world-class pickleball game,” your date Max passionately states from his spot across from you at the Italian place he had recommended.
Or was his name Mac?
He’d already told you all about the CRBN paddle drama. At this point, you wouldn’t be surprised if he had already prepared a PowerPoint presentation on the topic complete with transitions and color-coded charts. He seems the type.
And he had yet to ask you a single question about yourself all evening.
You can tell he is gearing up for the next part of his rant, when your phone lights up on the table, the ringer on higher than you realized.
“Oh! I’m sorry, I thought I had this on silent. It’s my mom, I should probably take this,” you apologize to him, your phone already halfway raised to your ear.
“Hey, kid, how’s it going?”
“Hi Mom, I’m with someone right now. Is everything ok?” You let a little worry tinge the tone of your voice.
“Seriously?” Rooster drolly rasps on the other end of the line, “Are we actually doing this?”
“Oh no! Is she alright?” You wouldn’t consider yourself actress, but you think you’re really selling the performance with the way you widen your eyes and how you make your voice go a little tighter and higher.
“Yup, seems like we’re really doing this. What’s it this time, kid? Did grandma slip on a banana peel and then get run over by a reindeer?” You can practically feel his eyes rolling as he begrudgingly goes along with you.
“Oh my goodness, that sounds serious! How would that even happen?” you ask, shaking your head in in faux shock determined to really sell the act.
“Is everything ok?” Max-Mac whispers to you from across the table.
His profile didn’t raise any red flags when you’d swiped on him. If anything, he’d seemed a bit more of the beige flag type. Your chats had been fine, he seemed fine, so why not meet up for a date?
What you didn’t realize until it was too late was that “Sports Enthusiast” actually translated to “Pickleball Fanatic”.
“Hold on, Mom,” you hear Rooster scoff as you pull the phone away from your ear. “I’m so sorry, there’s been a family emergency. It’s my grandmother. I really need to go,” you announce to Mac-Max grabbing your purse from the back of the chair. “Thank you so much for understanding. And good luck at your pickleball tournament!” you call back to him as you hustle towards the front door.
“I take it you’ve made your escape?” You can hear the humor in his voice, your antics are nothing new to him.
“Oh my god, was that seriously only thirty minutes? He wouldn’t stop talking about pickleball, Rooster. Anytime I tried to change the subject, he found a way to circle right back to it!” You tell him as you attempt to dig your keys out from where they were buried in your bag. “And then, he pulled up the leg of his jeans and said, I kid you not: ‘Don’t worry, this isn’t an ankle monitor, I’m just wearing my ankle weights.’ Who does that?”
“Just come to the Hard Deck. You should have canceled like I told you to in the first place. Bob and Coyote got back the other day, so everyone’s here. Well, almost everyone,” he says pointedly. “We’re more fun anyways. And Hangman has been harassing me about you, something about your fluke of a win?”
You’d kicked Jake’s ass the last time you played darts with him. Although in his defense, he had been pretty drunk that night and it was a less than fair game since Phoenix would distract him while Fanboy moved your darts on the board.
You wouldn’t be challenging him to a rematch anytime soon. Not unless the odds were in your favor, it was better to keep him on his toes and his ego in check.
Thankful for the princess parking you managed to snag when you first arrived, you unlock your car and toss your bag into the passenger seat before climbing in. Breathing out a sigh of relief to be done with Mac-Max once inside.
“You back in your car yet?” Rooster asked. He was such a worrier, but you can’t say it bothered you. You liked knowing he cared.
“Yeah, just got in.”
“Ok good, see you in a few. Drive safe, kid.”
Tumblr media
Thirty minutes later Natasha was sliding a cold, frothy pint in front of you with a sympathetic look.
It wasn’t too busy at the Hard Deck yet, but it was still early in the evening. You knew it would pick up soon, and before long Penny would be ringing her bell on some rowdy unsuspecting customer.
“Ankle weights?” She asked, trying and failing to keep from laughing at your expense.
“Seriously, Rooster?” you shoot a glare in his direction, “Where’s the loyalty?”
“What? She was right there when I called you. A request that was your idea, if you remember,” he said as he walked up to you, squeezing your shoulder before sliding his arm around you in greeting. “Plus, it’s not like you don’t already tell Phoenix about all your escapades. You really know how to pick ‘em, kid.”
You’ve known Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw since before you had braces back when you were still wearing your hair in two braids. Your moms had been on the school PTA together at the time and had hit it off immediately.
He hadn’t been too happy about being forced to hang out with the kid who was couple years younger than him, especially one who was so clearly enamored with the cute older boy. While you’d outgrown that phase, for the most part, somethings stuck- like the nickname.
And over the years you’d formed your own bond outside of the forced proximity of your mothers’ friendship.
He’d taught you how to throw a punch, the different ways to pitch a baseball, and to drive a stick shift. You’d taught him how to whistle with his fingers, to play Nerts, and to tie a tie (after asking your dad to teach you).
The give and take was easy with him, you both showed up for the other.
You were there the night he drunkenly fell through the glass patio door at Jason Cameron’s homecoming party. As one of the only sober people there since he wouldn’t let you drink, or let anyone else give you alcohol for that matter, you were the one to take him to the ER. “Don’t worry, kid,” he had slurred, pressing the Washington High t-shirt that you’d found in your trunk to his face to stop the bleeding, “Looks s’worse than it feels.” And you were the one to stay with him as he was stitched up. The evidence of that night still unmistakable on his face.
He was there for you when your parents had sat you down and told you they were getting a divorce. A hurricane of angst and grief, you hadn’t left your room for anything other than school for over a week when he’d let himself in your room one afternoon. Rubbing small circles on your back as he’d let you cry for a bit, he didn’t even tease you about the stains you’d left behind on his shirt. And then he’d herded you into his crappy car and drove you to the slightly sketchy amusement park an hour away with the Tilt-A-Whirl and the giant corndogs. And when he’d told you “It’s going to be ok, kid” on the ride back home, you believed him.
You had been there for him when his mom passed, and all during that dark period after when he was set on self-destruction after his fallout with Maverick. While he had tried to push everyone away, you were always the type to hold on tightly to the people that mattered.
And then life had sent you on different directions. First when he went to college and then when you did. Next for him the Navy, and then you with your own career, both of you always in motion. You two shared a connection the way people with a long history do, the kind where you could go months without talking but knowing the other person is always right there if you need them. Your camaraderie sustained by texts, email, and the occasional FaceTime.
A long-distance friendship for over a decade.
So when your boss had approached you about a promotion that was dependent on you relocating to the West Coast, you thanked whatever kismet in the universe had you packing for San Diego where he was permanently stationed.
The break up with your boyfriend at the time was entirely too amicable considering how long you had been together. He was nice, the sex was nice, your life together was nice. You had all but signed the paperwork for your promotion when you told him, but he didn’t see himself as a west-coaster and you couldn’t envision yourself as anything but. Whether you had stayed together all that time out of convenience or complacency, you still couldn’t say.
It was easy to fall back into the comfort of your friendship with Rooster. Although the lanky teen you had known was replaced with a mustache sporting well-built man courtesy of the Navy. One that had left you feeling confusingly flustered on more than one occasion, and forced to cycle through your mental highlight reel of embarrassing teen Rooster moments to keep from your mind from wandering.
He’d helped you find your apartment, taught you about avoiding the 15 Northbound, and showed you where the best place in town to get tacos was. The transition was made easy with him by your side as he introduced you to his team members who quickly folded you into their group as one of their own.
That was a little over a year ago. You liked this new life of yours in San Diego.
And while the dating pool of men you could swipe through was much larger, well, some things never changed.
“You don’t get it, Rooster. You’re surrounded by absurdly hot Naval eye candy all day,” you complained gesturing to Natasha, she raised her beer to you as thanks in response. “While you’re getting women throwing themselves at you because of the gold wings, I’m fighting for my life on these stupid apps where all the men on there are posing with fish. It’s brutal!”
You’d need to officially call things off with Max-Mac later, thinking to yourself how glad you were that you never gave him your real number, and instead signing up for a Google voice number. You were just not cut out for the competitive pickleball lifestyle.
“Bradshaw, why don’t you set her up? It’s not like we don’t know enough people who would be better options than these fish men,” Natasha asked, like it was the most logical thing in the world, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Yeah, Bradshaw. Tell Nat your super logical reasons for leaving your longtime friend to fend for herself.” You knew where this was heading, so you took a long swig of the beer Phoenix had brought you.
“Seriously, not this again.” His arm that was around you was removed in favor for pinching the bridge of his nose and looking up to the ceiling like it would spare him from the conversation.
“You started it, now tell her.”
“I need another damn drink if we’re going to do this,” Rooster mumbled.
“Me too,” chimed Natasha, clearly reveling in his misery.
“Make that three. I need to catch up.” You hadn’t even stuck around long enough to get a drink at the restaurant, and now you were ready to let loose a bit.
He grunts out some unintelligible thing and then stalks off to the bar shaking his head.
“I’m an upstanding citizen, I pay my taxes, I make a mean peanut butter brownie, and I always drive him around when the Bronco is in the shop for a tune up. It’s literally the least he could do,” you say to Phoenix as you watch him chat with Penny as she works to grab the fresh bottles.
“Oh, so this is thing,” Natasha says decidedly when she eyes the six beers he’s carrying back to the table, three bottles held by the neck in each of his large hands. His classic Hawaiian shirt fluttering with every step, your eyes briefly drifting down to his defined waist.
“Sure is,” you confirm, drawing out the word. Downing the rest of the beer from your pint glass before reaching for one of the new bottles Rooster was divvying out amongst your trio, “I’ve never asked him for anything-”
“That is a boldfaced lie. And you know it,” he cuts in, as he hands you a granola bar from his pocket, that he must have snagged from Penny. “You definitely asked me to set you up with Kyle Cooke from my baseball team in high school. I didn’t do it then, and I’m not doing it now,” he declared, pointing at you with an accusatory finger to further drive the statement home.
“Reasons being?” Natasha wheedled, a mischievous smirk on her face. You could tell she was eating this up, there were two things Natasha Trace loved most in this world: juicy gossip and giving Rooster a hard time.
Ever the showman, he dramatically lifts up a finger, “First of all, everyone I know is an asshole.”
“I am offended on Bob’s behalf,” you countered, unwrapping the bar and taking a bite, annoyed. Hangman might fit the description, but certainly not Bob.
“Two,” he continues on, raising a second finger, and ignoring you completely as if you hadn’t just made a very valid point, “Let’s say I set you with a friend and then you end up hating them. Then you’ll judge me for being friends with them, we’ll argue, and eventually we won’t be friends anymore. Or even worse, I set you up with someone, you hit it off and date for a while. What happens when you break up? I’m left having to pick sides and walk on eggshells around you guys about the other person.”
“God, you’re such a overthinker. That all sounds totally rational, you drama queen,” you look to Phoenix for agreement, but she’s busy typing out a text message on her phone.
“And three, it’s messy as fuck. And I don’t need to hear about your trophy of a one-night stand.”
Now it’s your turn to roll your eyes, “That was one time! It wasn’t a trophy it was a gold medal.”
“Wait, what?” Confusion coloring Natasha’s features.
“One time this guy gave me one of those plastic gold medal things on a lanyard, kind of like the ones they give out at kids soccer games, after we hooked up. I mean, kicked him out right away, but I did keep the medal. It was a good confidence boost,” you shrug.  It wasn’t exactly a high point moment for you.
After that encounter you’d definitely started scrutinizing every profile a bit harder before swiping right, or at least you thought you had been. In your defense, at least Max-Mac’s profile didn’t have a fish photo, but the bar was still clearly on the ground.
“I knew you when you wore those shirts with that big mouthed monkey on them. And that’s the kind of shit I don’t need to know about. I don’t wanna be involved. Not gonna happen, kid,” his declaration resolute.
“Well, that sure is something, Bradshaw,” Natasha states, giving him a curious look.
“What are y’all over here discussing so intently,” Hangman questions as he saddles up to your little group, tucking his phone into his pocket.
“We were just getting into the finer details of the kid’s dating life and how I am going to fix it by setting her up with this great guy I know,” she pronounces, looking all too pleased with herself. A truly self-satisfied grin gracing her face.
Natasha Trace was probably the most bad ass person you’ve ever met, so the idea of her setting you up with someone had you sitting up straighter on the stool you were seated on, “Really?”
“Who?” Rooster demands, frowning at her.
“Yeah, I mean Bradshaw clearly has his convictions, and I respect that. However, I’m an excellent wing-woman. Seriously, I don’t know why I haven’t thought about introducing you guys before. You two would be perfect together.”
Hangman never one to miss an opportunity to rile up Rooster is quick to jump in, “Just because you fly in a two-seater doesn’t make you a good wing-woman, Phoenix. However, now that you mention it, I have a buddy who might knock your socks off. Unless you’d rather just knock boots, I’m sure he’d be up for whatever you wanted,” he shooting you a wink. “I think I’ll toss my name in the ring here too. After all, I’m very good.”
“You want to make it a bet, Bagman?” Her accent always got a little more pronounced when she went toe to toe with him.
“What’re you thinkin’, Darlin’?” he drawls suggestively with a sharp smile. That ever-present toothpick being rolled in his mouth from side to side.
“You guys are not going to be making bets around the kid’s love life,” Rooster snaps.
“The big dogs are talking, Bradshaw,” Hangman taunts as he waves him off.
“$50 entry? The dates happen here and at the end the kid picks which date was the best. Winner takes all?” You can see the competitive gleam in her eye.
“Alright, alright. Works for me, Phoenix. I can’t wait to take your money.”
“The hell you are,” Rooster barks, still trying to regain control of the quickly spiraling situation.
Well, this had certainly taken a turn.
You find yourself reaching for your third beer of the night.
And you’re even more surprised when Hangman hollers for the rest of the team to join, and before you know it your dating life takes centerstage as the subject of the bet between the group of competitive naval aviators. Many of the others deciding to join in, never ones to shy away from a bit of rivalry.
“What do you say? You up for it?” Natasha asks, wanting to make sure you were still on board now that her original offer had taken on a life of its own.
You look over and see Rooster looking at you like you’d be crazy to get involved in their kind of chaos. You know he can already tell what your answer will be.
“Why not?” you agree cheerily as he groans into his beer.
At least you would be spared from swiping for a while. It’s what you deserve, you are an upstanding citizen after all.

people come and go, life moves on; that has always been your view. you can’t move on when your past comes back to haunt you. -  “So I ask myself, do I let you go or do I keep you in the frame of my mind? Now I’m growing wise to your sugar coated lies, nothing’s sweet about my misery. Yeah, I finally found what went wrong, i finally found the wrong in you.” - On My Mind by Jorja Smith
chapter nine: twelve steps forward, one step back
the final race of your life, mixed emotions truly. your career was one out of a movie, you’re waiting for the final shoe to drop and when it does, it hits you hard. - “Isn’t it strange? I am still me, you are still you, in the same place. Isn’t it strange how people can change from strangers to friends, friends into lovers, and strangers again?” - Strange by Celeste
epilogue - chapter ten: the last bow
life post retirement is a funny thing, you thought you’d be having fun but you’re bored out of your mind. a solo trip results in seeing a ghost from your past.  -  “I'm sure we're taller in other dimension, you say we’re small and not worth a mention. You’re tired of movin’, your body’s achin’. We could vacay, there’s places to go. Clearly this isn’t all that there is, can’t take what’s been given. But we’re so okay here, we’re doing fine.” - White Ferrari by Frank Ocean

ARTISTS ARE ATTRACTIVE
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: Tim Drake was never know for being the most attractive brother, but you always found a way to make him think he was…even if you did it in a unusual way with your weird staring problem.
WARNINGS: Artists are attractive troupe, hinted that reader can be mean to others, hinted autistic reader, Tim Drake in love, gn!reader, masc! Reader, reader being called “boyfriend”, blunt!reader, crappy writing bc I wrote this half asleep, reader wearing a tie, ooc Tim, short
PAIRINGS: Tim Drake/Reader
Tim Drake had a lot of things: brothers, computers, coffee. But he only had one boyfriend. A mean yet sweet boyfriend who apparently was having a major staring problem.
It wasn’t hard for Tim to realize you were staring him down from across the couch while he was trying to finish long past due work.
Your eyes seemed to be roaming all over his body as if you were trying to memorize his figure’s pose.
Tim let out an almost inaudible sigh, turning his body to face you. "Can I help you?"
"No,” you breathed out, not removing your gaze from your boyfriend.
"Ok then," Tim whispered, moving his body to fully face his Mac book once again. Sure, he was used to you staring at him almost all day while he talked to his brother or was working, but you never made it this obvious. He was used to you looking away when you suspected that he would turn to look at you. He always found it a cute little quirk of yours, but it just felt different this time. In a good way of course, but still.
Tim took in a deep breath, looking at you from the corner of his eye. He could see the way your finger tapped along the table next to you in a rhythm only known to you and how your hair was slowly falling into your eyes. It didn’t falter your staring problem however.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
You hummed, “looking at you.”
Tim let out another sigh, closing his Mac knowing that he won’t be able to concentrate on it for much longer. He would get back to it later when your asleep or fixating on something else. “I get that.”
“Then why’d you ask?” you questioned.
Your boyfriend made a sound unfamiliar to you. “I meant why are you staring at me?”
“Because I want to remember you.” A look of confusion washed over Tim’s face.
“I have a feeling you won’t be forgetting me soon, unless you know something I don’t.”
“No.”
“No?” he repeated. Usually by now you’d be getting to your point, leaving nothing in the dark. It was like your T.M.I button was disabled. Not like Tim cared, he loved to hear you ramble on about something while he’s doing work, it brings him a peace of mind.
“You look good.”
There it was.
Blush started to form on Tim’s checks along with a small grin. “Do I?” Tim smiled. He noticed the look of pure adoration on your face, it always made him feel good about himself.
“Yes, you look very attractive. I'm trying to enshrine this into my mind to draw later,” you stated like it was nothing. To you isn’t wasn’t, you were just being honest, but to Tim it made him feel butterflies all over again.
He wasn’t used to it. His family never said things like that to him, barely praising anything he did. You didn’t either, not in a bad way, you showed your love in a different way.
“What got you thinking on that?” He assumed it had something to do with his brothers that you talked to earlier this day.
“Your brothers,” you told. Of course it was his brothers. “Damian said that you were a bad muse but I don’t think so. You’re plenty attractive, making you a perfect muse.”
Tim felt like his face was turning into a tomato because of you. Trying his best to ignore it, he looked down at his dirty shoes. They were covered in coffee stains at least a couple weeks old.
“Do you think that the artists are attractive too? Because I think the artist right next to me is very attractive.”
Tim noticed that your fingers stopped tapping on his stained coffee table and you turned yourself to be facing Tim.
His face moved in your direction, blush even more distinguishable.
Your eyes looked almost doe-like when looking at your boyfriend and your lips were pursed in a straight line.
“What? You have anything to say?” Tim asked. His nerves were getting to him. He knew perfectly well he had no reason to feel this but his brain was fighting against it.
“I wouldn’t say all artists are attractive, like Van Gogh! He was labeled as ugly, ungracious, impolite—” you rambled getting cut off by your boyfriend pulling you into a quiet kiss, his warm lips on yours.
Slowly pulling apart, Tim stared at your glistening eyes. “I wasn’t talking about him, I was talking about you.”
“Oh.” Not wanting to mess with whether you get another kiss, you ignored the confused thoughts in your head, leaning back into Tim.
He smiled at the expression on your face. Anyone else would be dead before they saw it, but he wasn’t anyone else. He was the one that could break down your walls like you did to him.
Tim inched away, his hand still gripping onto your tie. It seemed like every time you leaned in, he leaned further away.
“Let me kiss you,” you whined. A bigger grin appeared on your lover’s face.
“I have work to do,” he hummed, fully pulling away from you. You grabbed onto his arm dragging yourself closer to him.
“I’ll make you coffee. The good kind too,” you grinned. Tim faked thinking it through, pushing you gently off the couch.
“Fine, but be quick.”
You laughed, dragging Tim up and to the kitchen while he let out complaints about how he shouldn’t be the one getting up to go to the kitchen.
You pushed him into the counter, lips chasing after his. “You know, the deal was meant for you to make me coffee then we kiss,” he said in between breaks for air.
“That’s stupid. I have stuff to do.”
“Oh yeah that drawing is super important,” he laughed, his tone lost in your ears.
“Exactly,” you huffed, continuing to pepper kisses along Tim’s face and neck. His hands trailed down you arms, enjoying the break your giving him from work.
His artist always knew how to make him feel good.

hey, uh... can i tell you something ?
pairing: christopher sturniolo x reader
summary: after coming out to the triplets as bisexual, chris worries he has no chance of being with you, and you worry you have no chance of being with him
warnings: reader is bisexual with a preference to women ! aka me
a/n: i hate this, but i want to start posting again :) sorry if it disappoints and happy reading
you had been friends with the triplets for a while, but there was something none of them knew about you. your sexuality. something you had come to terms with when you were around seventeen, but now that you were twenty, you were yet to build up the courage to tell your year-long friends. nick had come out to you early on in your friendship, but you didn't want to make his moment yours, so at that moment you said nothing about you being bisexual
now you had a preference for women. a much bigger preference, actually. however that still didn't stop you from developing a crush on chris the moment you met the triplets - and now that you had been hanging out with them everyday for the past seven months, and having even met their parents, you were downbad to a point of no return
you knew though, that if you ever wanted to get with chris, you'd have to let him know about your sexuality beforehand, just in case he wasn't comfortable - which was highly unlikely since he was the most loving an d accepting person you knew, but just to make sure
so here you were, on the couch playing mario kart with the triplets on the couch in their house in la, when you had been not focused on the game at all the entire night, trying to figure out when the right time would be to tell them you're bisexual. you had no idea why your head had made it this big of a deal, but there was no changing it. it was just up to you to build the courage to say it. you were cut out of your train of thought when the doorbell rang, jumping slightly. chris was quick to put his hand on you back and pat his hand up and down to comfort you. you turned cherry red at the sudden contact, thanking fuck that your back was facing him
“food !” nick jumped from his spot on the couch and ran down towards the front door to grab the mcdonalds you guys had ordered earlier. you told yourself it would be calmer if you said what you needed to say while you guys ate, so when you had open packages of chicken nuggets and big macs and fries on the sofa you swallowed the food in your mouth and spoke up: “hey, uh... can i tell you something ?” this rose all three heads up from their places, all with looks of concern or curiosity, leading to a ‘yeah’ ‘sure’ and ‘obviously’ simultaneously. you had gotten yourself into a position you couldn't run away from, so you took a deep breath in and rambled a quick “i know this is hella random and i should have told you guys this a long time ago but i never found the time, but yeah, uh, i'm bisexual-” you exhaled, out of breath from the amount of words that came out of your mouth in those three seconds
matt shrugged and said “that's all you had to say ? don't worry about that shit when you're with us, we don't mind” - nick was giving you a look that said girl, we all knew and chris was looking at you with a caring smile, but something in his eyes made him look worried, but you didn't want to overthink it so you said nothing and happily accepted the hug he leaned in for. then when you pulled apart he gave a sweet reassuring “doesn't make a difference to us”, the sweet smile on his face never dissappearing, yet that questioning look in his eyes remained
after more games of mario kart, nick and matt went to bed, which left you and chris to clear up the living room and kitchen. while doing so, chris cleared his throat and looked up at you, which you caught onto having been worrying that you lost any chances of being with him after coming out. he spoke up and in a cute but sleepy tone asked “can i ask you something, about what you like,,, told us earlier ?” and nodded and hummed an ‘mhmm’, and he continued - “i don't know if this is too much to ask, but do you have preferences ? like would you rather date a man than a woman or woman than a man ?” you smiled as he asked the question, your heart warm from thinking that he was just showing you he cared for you, and answered his question, “no, that's okay to ask ! i uh, yeah, i have a preference to women. i don't know why, it's just i find it easier for some reason, ya know ?” you said, trying to make him understand that you weren't completely opposed to dating a man, or you were unless it was him, but you weren't going to tell him that
and he hummed and asked another question
“would you date a man ?- sorry this is weird, i'm sorry”
“no, i don't mind chris, don't worry” though you were questioning his curiosity, you continued to answer his questions
“i mean it depends, it just would have to be like, a really really really nice guy, i kinda find it hard to like them as more than a friend, i don't know it's weird-” he cut you off
“no i get it, yeah, i understand. last question, sorry i'm just genuinely like- i don't know”
“don't worry chris, go ahead, i really don't mind ! i promise”
“have you ever had a- no you know what i'm doing too much. sorry” he apologized, but you knew what he was going to ask, so you answered his question
“i have a crush on a man, chris. don't be scared to ask i promise you i genuinely don't mind-”
“wait have, as in,,, right now ?” he seemed hurt, but sureley he didn't care if you did, no ?
“yeah, i uh. i don't know how he feels though, so i might just try to lose it, really” you confessed
you looked up at him and smiled with a tint of pink on your cheeks, which he caught onto
“wait, is it- matt?” he asked, to which you giggled and said “wrong brother”
chris paused his movements and turned to you, leaning against the counter, not regretting a word you said due to the expression on his face - a big, wide, happy smile. the happiest smile you'd ever seen on him
“you like me ?” he said through a laugh. and you copied his laugh-like sentence and replied, “yeah”
“so am i meant to like, kiss you now?- can you tell i've never done this before” he said, giggling
“listen, i've done this as many time as you have. i don't know, but if ya want to then, yeah sure. you can kiss me (?)”
he ran up to you in a little cute walk and kissed you slowly, passionately, with nothing but pure love
:)

BUT sooner or mf they yell(not yell yell) for reader to stop for just a god damn minute and readers just like "ok🤷🏾" AND WALKS AWAY AND DOESNT HUG OR KISS THEM FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK(hell even two)💀💀💀💀like they will sit next to bro and he doesn't even lean on them😭🤚🏾
like he aint mad or nothin he just took it really literally😭
add anything you want like duhhh
BAND X CLINGY READER
teehee hii😈 you send me like 10 tiktoks in under a minute bro
Tumblr media
BILL:
・He genuinely does love when your clingy
・Bro is clingy asf himself oml-
・Yet everybody needs alone time to themselves, and eventually he would just feel the need to be alone
・He really didn't want to hurt your feelings, he knew this was your way of showing your love, but he would eventually get overwhelmed.
・At first he'd try giving you small hints, like when he would say he wanted to go out for a walk. Yet everytime you wanted to come along and he didn't have the willpower to ask to go alone.
・He puts up with it for a little longer before he reaches a breaking point.
"M/N! Please just leave me alone for a second holy fuck-"
"Oh, okay."
・He'd feel relieved you weren't mad at him
・Yet after a day- hell maybe even a few hours- he's craving that touch again.
・Like sitting next to you on the couch just waiting for you to hold his hand or cuddle him VKYXWUHWVEE
・You took u alot of his time so now that you didn't hang out with him as much he felt surprisingly lonley.
Tumblr media
TOM:
・Less patient than Bill.
・Babe he loves your touch, kissing you and holding you and snuggling you and-
・He won't admit it but he's actually quite clingy too.
・He really loves his alone time though, especially if its spent playing his guitar. He just likes to be alone to relax his mind
・Gives you a few subtle warnings, telling you he "has to clear his mind" and "needs to relax"
・Yet you would still cling to his shoulders like a koala. He loved you soso much and didn't want to hurt your feelings but he felt almost suffocated.
・Telling you he's going somewhere only for you to say "Ah, where are you going? Can I come too?"
"Can I go anywhere without you following me?!"
・lol ok
・You shrugged and walked away from him, he wanted to tell out your name and call you back but he also wanted time to himself
・Feels anxious when you don't hug or kiss him like you used to, he's afraid you'll break up with him or something.
Tumblr media
GEORG:
・He'd get overwhemles pretty quickly
・No no, don't get him wrong, he absolutely loves hugging you. But sometimes he would rather hangout and talk instead of snuggling for hours.
・So if you ask to go out with him somewhere he doesn't care at all at first, actually encouraging you to come along with him.
・But, like Tom, he loves to be alone.
・It's just comforting for him to be in a quiet area with nobody else.
・Bro gives no warnings, just flat out says "Can you not touch me right now..?"
"My bad."
・He's happy you understand him and don't just yell at him. He's happy you respect his boundaries
・He finds himself missing your touch, how you would kiss him all over his cheeks and lips or how you would play with his hair when yo would cuddle.
・HE THINKS YOUR MAD AT HIMMMMMMMM
・He's kinda scared to ask you to start giving him attention again
・You seem fine so...shouldnt he feel fine too?
(he doesn't)
Tumblr media
GUSTAV:
・KJHBECJJLEFCBLUIEHRCLKUWEBDCLJHWEDCMKWEDCBMJDCMJWEDBM
・He absolutely loves your affection, doesn't care if he's doing something he will stop and hold you if that's what you want.
・He just feels so safe and happy in your armssss
・Sometimes he just needs a little break, like maybe a few hours or a day to himself.
・He always feels bad about this though, he loves you more than anything and doesn't wanna push you away.
・He'd give so many hints because he doesn't wanna hurt your feelings omfg
・Eventually just tells you flat out, even though his heart is pounding.
"I just need to be alone, M/N!" "That's fine."
・He doesn't know whether to be confused or relieved, he's a mix of both.
・He misses your affection so bad wtf...
・Just wants to pick you up and cuddle while watching a movie, but he's waiting for you to make a move but you want to respect him and-
・its very confusing.

Best baby sister // Mike Schmidt x young!sister!reader
**not a ship**
Tumblr media
Summary: just fluffy big brother Mike 🥰
Warnings: none :']
Age: 7-8
A/N: "mikey man" very funny 🤭
+•°+*°•++•°+*°•+
You sat up in your small bed, you hopped up to say good morning to Mike. He was the only person in the world that mattered to you.
You walked into the kitchen and was greeted with the smell of bacon, you wrapped your small arms around him. He looked down at you, having not noticed you were there before.
He patted you on the back and returned to cooking. "Hi mike" you giggled, "morning y/n/n. How'd you sleep?" He asked you.
"Good" you answered, "good." He responded
"Thats what I just said" he chuckled at your comment, you were very sassy, of course.
"But i gotta go to work soon, okay?" He said strictly, pointing the spatula at you.
"Uuoohh, but why?" You complained "because, we need money right?" You groaned in response, you ate your breakfast with max instead. (Rude)
+•°+*°•+
there was one hour until Mike got home, you were playing with your dolls when you got the idea.
he works too hard, so you thought to treat him with a little something, you made him a very nutritious meal (microwaved mac n' cheese) and drew him a warm bath, overflowing with bubbles.
You also made a small fort in the living room, facing the tv. When you heard Mike's car pull in the driveway you ran out to him. You opened his door for him, and led him inside by your side.
You ran into the kitchen, passing the living room, Mike saw your fort and pointed at it. "Whats that?" He asked, but was quickly pulled away by you.
"Youre not allowed to see that yet." You said as you dragged him into the kitchen and sat him down. He chuckled as you sat across from him, a fork and knife in both hands, smiling from ear to ear.
You both ate your meals and you led him to the bathroom. He looked down at you, and kneeled down to hug you.
You shut the door and waited in the living room. He eventually emerged from the hall in a comfy sweater and soft pants.
He climed into the fort after you signaled for him too come in. He lied down on his stomach beside you, you both continued to watch cartoons for a while.
You rested your head on his shoulder, he wrapped his arms around you tight.
He pecked you a few times before taking one of the many blankets in the fort and putting it over both of you.
You snuggled into his chest, his warmth comforting you as you listened to his heartbeat, you fell asleep soon after.
+•°+*°•+
The next morning after he left, you went out with max to surprise him, you had been saving up for months to buy him this. You handed the cashier tons of quarters to pay.
You folded it neatly and set it in a small gift bag. When he got home you gave it to him immediately, shoving it in his face.
He took it out carefully as max left to go home. He gasped as he read it. "Do you like it?" You asked as he kept staring at the hoodie that also had the words 'best big bro' on it.
"Do i like it? Of course i do! I like everything you give me!" He said picking you up. "But, how'd you get it baby?"
"Ive been saving up on my allowance! And searching the streets for some loose change" you said in a raspy voice, making a funny face as well.
He put it on and you both ordered a pizza, and you gave the delivery man the last quarter you had as a tip.
You ate three pieces before you complained about being to full. You fell asleep in Mikes lap while he was playing with your hair. He picked you up and tucked you into bed. Placing a kiss to your forehead.
He went to sleep smiling, still wearing the hoodie, of course he wouldn't tell you that he worked at the shop you bought it from and saw you get it for him but, he was still over the moon nonetheless.

ROADTRIP PART 2
Walker Scobell X Reader | Series | You Belong With Me🔱 Part 4
When you drive in the first thing you see is Buffalo. You take a couple pics and post them.
Tumblr media
"Are you guys hungry?" Your mom asks
"YEESSSS!" everyone says in unison
"Alright look at the map and tell me what you wanna eat.
We decided on restaurant and drove there. Whe got a booth. I sat next to Walker and Leena sat next to me.
"I think I'm gonna have the fried chicken. What are you gonna have?" Walker asks me looking up from the menu at you
"Mac & Cheese" You said with a smile that Walker knew exactly what you were talking about
"Kraft Mac & Cheese if your parents don't buy it stop loving them" you recited
"Oh my God" Walker said rolling his eyes looking back down at his menu
Tumblr media
When you leave the restaurant everyone is full. You go to your cabin and flop on the couch.
"I might explode" You groan
"Me too" Walker says as he lays down on the floor next to you. Making it kinda look like a crime scene.
"Oh no Walker's stupidity kill them both!" Lenna walks in with a smile
"Not yet!" You reply slightly lifting your head and putting it back down.
"Hey!" He said fake offended
-
Later that night everyone goes to the cabins campfire (I don't know if that is a thing. But pretend it it).
Everyone was making smores around the fire.
"Where is Walker?" You ask
"Boo!" Walker silently came up behind you and yelled in your ear. You scream and turn to see Walker laughing
"Walker! You almost made me drop my smore!" You yelled as you hit his shoulder.
He sat down next to you and made his own smore.
"Let's tell scary stories!" Walker said excited
"Noooo! I don't wanna have nightmares!" You complain
"Don't be chicken!" He reply and starts the story not listening to you.
"Years ago, a pack of ravenous wolves roamed these very woods, their eyes glowing fiercely in the moonlight. They were led by a massive alpha, whose howl could be heard for miles around. One night, a group of campers, much like them, set up camp in the same spot. Little did they know that they were being watched by the pack of wolves, their hunger growing with each passing minute. As the campers slept, the wolves attacked, their sharp teeth tearing through flesh and bone. The screams of the campers echoed through the woods, a haunting reminder of the horrors that lurked beneath the trees. To this day, it is said that the wolves still roam the woods, searching for prey. And on nights when the moon is full, their howls can still be heard, sending a shiver down the spines of anyone who dares to venture into their territory."
You hear a wolf howl and your eyes widen. You get closer to Walker.
"Alright let's go inside" Leena said seeing you were scared.
You looked at her with "Thank you!" Eyes and she nodded and smiled
Everyone got up and went inside to get ready for bed. You finished and went and sat on your bed and watched TV.
Tumblr media
Your pajamas ⬆️
You were sharing a room with your sister and Leena. Walker across the hall.
Your sister was already asleep when Leena walked in.
"I thought you'd be asleep already." Leena said
"Not a hug fan on going to sleep right now." You said talking about the story
"Walker is annoying." she said
"Yeah" you nodded
"What are we watching?" she said hopping on your bed
"You don't have to stay up with me. I'll be fine." You said appreciating what she was trying to do
"You're my best friend and my stupid brother scared you. It is my duty to stay awake with you." She smiled
"What do you wanna watch?" You smiled
"Thor The Dark World!" She replied
You put it on with a smile and gave her the popcorn you had.
"Hey I know her!" Leena pointed to you on the screen
You both laughed
-
After about 2 hours you and Leena fell asleep.
You woke up in a sweat after dreaming about the wolves. You were scared. Leena said wake her up if she falls asleep and you have a nightmare. But you couldn't do that to her. There was someone who deserved being woken up. You got out of bed and Walker over to Walker's room. You knocked but there was no answer you slowly open the door and see Walker dead asleep.
"Walker!" You whisper yelled
Nothing
"Walker!" You said a little louder shaking him
"What?!" he groaned
"I had a nightmare" You pouted
"What about?" he asked still kinda out of it
"Your wolf story" you replied
"I'm sorry." He said actually compassionate "I didn't mean to scare you that much."
"Can I stay in here with you for a while?" You ask
"Yeah. Yeah. Of course." He said moving over
You laid down next to him and he hugged you. It was very comforting. He may be annoying sometimes but you knew he would protect you and would always be there if you needed him.
-
The next morning you woke up and saw it was 9 am.
"Walker" you said over your shoulder
"Hmm" He replied
"It's 9"
"So?"
"I'm hungry"
"Fine" He said letting go of you
You go to your room and change out of your pajamas.
Tumblr media
Your outfit ⬆️ (you can change these outfits if you want)
You went to the kitchen where everyone is eating breakfast. Your mom made everyone French toast. It was delicious. After breakfast we all got in the van. We went to see Old Faithful which was beautiful then we went to the gift shop.
Tumblr media
Do you like this?" Walker asked showing you a sweatshirt
Tumblr media
The sweater Walker showed you⬆️
"Oooo! I love it! Why?" You asked
"No reason" He said casually and walking away
You look around and buy a few things. We all went back to the thevan and sat in our seats.
"Here" Walker said handing you a bag
You open the bag and see the sweatshirt that he showed you earlier
"Oh my gosh! Walker you didn't have to do that!" You said smiling holding it up looking at it
"Yes I did! It's repayment for scaring you last night." He replied happy you liked it
"Thank you!!" You said hugging him
"Of course!" He replied
You put it on as everyone drove back to the cabin.
-
You were reading on the couch and Walker was on his phone when your mom walked in the room
"Kids come look outside! It's snowing!" Your mom said
You and Walker both raced to the window to see blankets if white covering everything
"Oh my gosh it's so pretty!" You said admiring it's beauty
"Race you outside! Walker said running to the door and putting on his jacket.
You ran after him and put on your jacket and boots as fast as you could
"Walker?" You said stepping outside not seeing him anywhere. Then a snowball hit you right in the face.
"Bullseye!" He laughed
You guys had a snowball fight for at least 29 minutes then went back inside. Soaked. Especially Walker.
"I won!" You said with a smile
"Yeah right. I won!" Walker rolled his eyes
"Right Walker. Whatever you have to tell yourself." You said putting your hand on his shoulder
"You know what you're right..." He said clearly up to something
"I think the winner should get a hug" He said as you started running
"No! I wet enough as it is" You ran as fast as you could for about 2 minutes but you knew he was going to catch you eventually.
"Fine! You won! Happy?" You said turning around with your hands up
"Very" He said with a smile
-
We were now driving back home.
"It's so pretty here" Walker said looking out the window. You took a picture of him and posted it.
Tumblr media
Then Taylor texted you
Tumblr media
"I'm invited to the Grammys!" You exclaimed
"That's awesome! Congratulations!" Walker said hugging you
"Omg! That's amazing! Congratulations y/n!" Leena said very happy for you
"Thank you! I'm so excited!" You said smiling
-
When you got home it was midnight so you invited Walker and Leena to spend the night.
"That's sounds amazing! I'm so tired." Lenna said so happy
Leena would sleep in your room and Walker in the guest room.
"So, I got an email from my fashion designer and she gave me a couple options for the Grammys. Which one do you think I should pick?" You asked showing her your phone
"I think...that one" she said pointing to the one on the left
Tumblr media
Your dress for the Grammys ⬆️
"That one it is!" You said emailing your fashion designer (Alexandria)
-
Couple days later
Tumblr media
You were so excited!

Take Me Home, Country Roads. James Hetfield X Fem!Reader
“I hear her voice in the morning hours, she calls me. The radio reminds me of my home far away.”
(the words that are bolded are a flashback!!)
word count: 2,683
warnings: age gap (James is 27 and reader is like 22-23), country James, public sex??, makeout sesh, p in v sex (PROTECTED!! FINALLY!!)
Everyone in town knew him. The second they saw that black Chevrolet 454SS driving down the dirt road, all of the girls followed behind his truck barefoot and in their short denim shorts and bathing suit tops trying to see where he was staying at and try and see if it had any availability - even though their homes were right down the street.
The last time he was here, I had just started my job at the diner and only seen him outside talking to some girls. My dad worked on his farm and my mom was a librarian, meaning by the time they got home I was leaving for work. But yesterday I had seen him drive past me as I walked to work and we made eye contact for a split second and when I got to work I recognized the black truck in the parking lot.
“Hey, I got a table over there for you. Only one guy, shouldn’t be too much trouble.” Terri said and pointed over to the table, I turned my head and saw the familiar face and sighed. I grabbed a menu and walked over to him. “Welcome, here's a menu. Can I get you started with something to drink?” I said and set the menu down in front of him. “You guys serve alcohol?” He asked “We have beer? Only in cans…” I replied “I’ll take a Budweiser.” he replied, “Great, I’ll be back with that shortly.” I said, smiled, and walked back behind the counter. I grabbed the beer and walked back over to his table and set the beer down on the table and opened it.
“Decide what you want to eat yet?” I asked, “I’ll just have some fries.” He said and closed the menu and handed it to me. I noticed the notebook he had in front of him and a pen, “Whatcha writin’?” I asked “Trying to come up with song lyrics, but nothin’’s comin’ to me.” he said and rubbed his head “Well there’s plenty of inspiration around town if that kinda stuff helps you.” I said and smiled, “Thanks…” he looked at my name tag “…Y/N.” he said and smiled “Your welcome stranger.” I said and walked to the kitchen to get the fries.
I stepped into the kitchen and saw Terri and Paul (the cook) standing there smiling and looking at me. “What?” I asked, “You sure were gettin’ friendly with Mr. Hetfield out there.” Terri said and grinned even more “Mr. Hetfield?” I asked “James Hetfield? Lead singer of Metallica? Grammy winner? Millionaire?” Paul said, looking slightly offended. “Doesn’t ring a bell,” I said and set the menu down and walked over to the fries and picked them up. “I’m sure your daddy listens to his band, you probably should too. He’s quite famous ‘round here.” Terri said and smiled as I walked out of the kitchen.
“Here's your fries!” I said and handed them to him. “Thanks,” he said and smiled. I looked back at his notebook again and noticed some words written down. “Looks like you got something there.” I said and pointed to his notebook “Yeah, just a starting point. You like music?” he asked “Love it.” I replied he leaned back against the booth he was sitting in, “Who do you like?” he asked, I thought for a moment “I like The Doors, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac…” I replied, “Yeah there good, you listen to anything heavier than that?” He asked and smirked “I’m sure I’ve listened to some of your songs if that's what you’re implying.” I replied and laughed.
James laughed “I couldn’t tell if you were catching on to who I was.” he said “I knew who you were, I just assumed you didn’t want me to make a big deal out of it.” I replied “You’re right. Every other girl here has been jumping on me and yelling in my ear. It’s nice to meet someone a little tamer.” He said and smiled. Suddenly the kitchen door swung open and Terri walked over to the table, “Hello! Sorry, this one right here loves to talk everyone’s ear off!” Terri put her hand on my shoulder “I’m sure you need to get back to whatever you’re up to Mr. Hetfield so I’ll bring you the bill now.” Terri smiled and kept her hand on my shoulder as she walked me back into the kitchen.
“What the hell?” I asked her “You need to be careful with rockstars like that, they want one thing and one thing only. I’m just lookin’ out for ya dear that's all.” Terri said “I guess you’re right. Thanks Ter.” I said and smiled “Your welcome baby, I’m gonna go give him his check and your shift ends in about ten minutes but - I’ll let ya leave early. It’s already past midnight.” she said and grabbed his check off the counter and walked out of the kitchen.
I grabbed my bag and clocked out before walking out of the back door and starting my walk back home. After five minutes or so I heard the hum of a truck and turned my head to see James driving up next to me. He stopped the truck and rolled down the window “Need a ride home?” he asked “Uhh, sure! Thanks!” I got in the truck and set my bag in my lap. I gave him the directions to get to my house and for most of the ride it was silent, but I could see out of the corner of my eye James looking at me. “Soo..” I began “How long are you gonna be in town?” I asked him “A couple more days. Maybe two or three.” He replied “Oh, where are ya headed to after that?” I asked again “San Francisco. Bay Area.” he said “Oh, I’ve never been.” I replied and he looked at me “You’ve never been?” he said, shocked “Nope, never left this town before.” I said and he shook his head “Aren’t ya bored here?” He asked “I mean, kinda…but everyone I know is here. So, it’s not like im lonely ya know.” I said and he nodded.
Finally, we pulled up next to my mailbox. I grabbed my bag and as I began to open my door James started to speak. “I would love to see you again. You got any plans tomorrow night?” he asked “No, I’m off work tomorrow since it’s Saturday.” I replied “I’m thinkin’ of going down to the lake to fish tomorrow evenin’. Wanna come?” he asked “Sure. I’ll give you my number.” I said and reached in my bag and grabbed a napkin and a pen. After I wrote my number down I handed it back to James. “Thanks for the ride home Mr. Hetfield.” I said “Please, call me James.” he said and smiled
“Alright, goodnight James.” I said “Night Y/N.” he said and smiled.
That was last night, and I couldn’t stop thinking about him. He had never affected me before when I would see him at the grocery store, or at the bar, so why did he seem like all that to me now? When I woke up - he was the first thing I thought about, and the plans me and him had made. I went downstairs and saw both my parents sitting at the dining table. “There she is! Good morning!” my mom said as I walked over to the table “Mornin’ mama.” I said as she kissed my forehead “Mornin’ daddy.” I said to my dad and he looked over the newspaper at me “Mornin’ baby doll. How was work last night?” he asked.
“It was…nice.” I replied “Anything fun happen?” He asked, just as my mom came around the corner with a plate of pancakes and a glass of orange juice that she set down in front of me before walking back over to her chair next to my dad “Well actually, I met that rockstar that comes into town.” I said, my dad closed his newspaper. “Oh really?” he said “Yeah, he gave me a ride home too.” I said as I looked down at my pancakes.
“You let a boy take you home? After midnight?” my dad asked “Yeah, he invited me to go fishing with him this evenin’.” I said, “And you think your going?” My dad asked “Dad, I’m an adult now I can make my own decisions.” I said “It’s just…well…you know how those rockstars are, we’ve heard the stories. I just don’t want you to get hurt baby thats all.” he said “I won’t, he seems sweet.” I replied. “Exactly, he “seems sweet”. Doesn’t mean he is.” my mom butt-in. “Mama…” I said “I told you I dated a boy in a band before right?” my mom started “Oh mama not one of these stories, please.” I begged.
“Harold Manchester. He played the bass in his brother’s band, and I would watch him play at every gig. Then, he would go out and drink like fish with his buddies after and leave me all alone. I don’t want that for you.” My mom said “Momma, none of his bandmates are in town. It’s just him.” I said and took a sip of my orange juice.
“I want you home no later than 11:30 you hear me young lady?” my dad said “Yes sir.” I replied “Alright, me and your Momma will be at work - so call one of us as soon as you get home.” He said and I nodded.
Shortly after breakfast they both left for work. There was some kind of charity event at the library and my dad was going to the bar to watch a football game with his buddies.
The evening came a lot faster than I expected. I put on a pair of jeans and a brown belt, and a white t-shirt that sat right above my belly button and a pair of white sneakers. I curled my hair and put on my favorite blue eyeshadow and mascara and pink lipgloss. I heard James honking downstairs so I sprayed some perfume and quickly ran downstairs to meet him. I walked over to his truck and hopped in the passenger side. “Ready to go?” he asked and I nodded.
The drive was quick, James told me about the song that he had come up with last night and how he just needed to figure out the guitar chords to go along with it. Once we arrived he pulled into a parking spot (a patch of dirt) and we both got out. He placed the back of his truck down and grabbed his fishing supplies from the bed of it. “You can sit here if you’d like.” he said and pointed to the part he had laid down earlier. I jumped onto it and watched as James set all of his things up.
“James?” I asked as he casted his first line. “Yep?” he asked “Why are you fishing at night? Haven’t the fish gone to sleep?” I asked and James laughed “Some of em’ stay up.” he said as he finished chuckling. “You wanna try?” he asked and looked back at me. “Sure!” I said and got off the back of the truck and walked over to him. He handed me the rod and stood behind me. “You ever fish before?” he asked “Yeah, when I was way younger though. My grandpa had a creek near his house that he brought me to fish at.” I said “That’s nice. Haven’t done it since then?” he asked again “Nope. No one’s wanted to take me since then.” I said and turned my head to look at James and smile. It took a long time before there was finally a tug and I reeled it in.
Me and James both laughed when we realized that I had just caught a beer can. We sat down on the back of James truck and talked as we sipped on a can of beer James had brought. Eventually James looked up to the sky “See all em’ stars?” he asked and I looked up “Yep.” I replied “Crazy that they’re real big, but look so small to us.” James said, I thought about it for a moment “Yeah, that is crazy…” I said. I looked back down at my beer, then noticed James looking at me in the corner of my eye. I looked over at him “What?” I asked and laughed “Nothin’ you’re just real pretty.” he said and I could feel my face begin to heat up. “Thank you James. You’re not too bad yourself.” I said, James scooted closer to me. “Can I kiss you?” he asked, I tucked my hair behind my ear and looked at James.
“Sure.” I replied, James brought his hand up to the side of my face and brought his face closer to mine before finally closing the space between us by putting his lips on mine. I got up on my knees without breaking the kiss and straddled myself on James’ lap. He placed his hands on my hips as he continued to kiss me, before slowly rocking me back and forth on his lap. I could feel the sudden rise in his pants and broke the kiss to look down, noticing the very evident tent in his jeans.
“James.” I said, trying to catch my breath. “Yeah?” he replied “You got a rubber?” I asked and he smiled. He reached into back pocket and pulled one out and began to unbuckle his belt. In the meantime I started to undo my belt and take off my jeans and t-shirt leaving me in my pink panties and white bra. James ran his hand up the sides of my waist. “You’ve done this before?” he asked “It’s been awhile, but I know what to do James.” I said and smirked. James kissed me again.
I brought myself up and placed one hand around his shaft and moved it to where my hole was before sinking down on it. James kissed the sides of my mouth as I let out a shaky moan. He wrapped his arm around my waist and helped lift me up and down on him.
I placed my hands on his shoulder for support myself. James grunted every time I would come back down on him, “Fuck, so pretty baby.” he said “James..fuck…” I whined “It’s okay baby, your taking me so fuckin’ good.” he said. I tilted my head back and James picked up the pace, and the stars in the sky weren’t the only stars I was seeing anymore.
“James…I’m so close…” I said “Cum for me baby.” James said, and seconds later my vision went white and my body fell onto James shoulder. I regained myself as James calmed me down by running his finger up and down my spine, just as the cold nighttime air blew onto us. James brought his hand over to my chin to make me look at him.
“Come to San Fransisco with me…” he said “What?” I asked him “I can’t stand not seeing you baby, come with me. I can pay for your flight and you can stay with me.” He tucked my hair behind my ear. “James, everything I know is here.” I said “I know, but you’re all I want now. You’re what I was writing that song about.” he said, my gaze towards him softened. “Me?” I asked quickly “Yeah baby, you - you’re the inspiration for the music.” he said and smiled. I leaned in and kissed him quickly.
“James…I’ll think about it.” I said and looked at him “Alright, promise me you’ll think hard?” he asked, “I promise.” I said and gave him one final kiss.

MCDONALD'S! MCDONALD'S!
Ok ok hear me out - the characters, with you demanding a happy meal.
Sips out
JKDSHFKJF wait this idea is so funny and silly. I love it.
you didn't specify a character, so Harbinger rambles below the cut!
Arlecchino - Gives you the most incredulous look she can muster. Outwardly, she acts like it’s the most ridiculous request anybody has ever made, and all but turns her nose up at you. Once she realises you’re serious, however, she will begrudgingly pull into the nearest McDonald’s. The stipulation, however, is that she’ll make you order it. If that means having to lean over her in the driver’s seat to do so, so be it.
Capitano - Just wordlessly rolls up and orders you a Happy Meal. He remembers your favourite order and any extras you might like, and always knows which toy to pick for you (this is an AU where the McDonald’s toys aren’t awful). He almost always pays unless you make a point to hand your card to him beforehand and insist that you’re paying. Occasionally, he’ll order himself something small - an apple pie or a bag of those McDonald’s biscuits, as well as a no-sugar soda (he’s a weirdo who likes the tang of artificial sweeteners).
Childe - He’s entirely on board, he’ll do an illegal u-turn to get you to your destination if you so much as say “oh, McDonald’s would be nice right now” as you drive by one. There’s nothing that can stop him. It also helps that he loves the food from there. He’ll order your happy meal, as well as a full family combo for himself. That man can pack food away like nobody’s business. He’d also never say no to you when you’re asking for something so innocuous.
Columbina - Her response is always something along the lines of “oh my gosh, it’s like you read my mind!”. She loves Happy Meals, and collects all the toys (be aware that she’ll bother you into ‘donating’ your toy if it’s one she doesn’t yet have), so she’s always super enthusiastic and will go out of her way to get you your meal. Half the time, it’s probably her suggesting you go get Happy Meals a moment before the words are out of your mouth. She doesn’t even like them that much (she’s partial to the McFlurries), but she likes the toys, and getting to hang out with you, so it’s a win-win!
Dottore - Will launch into a whole big spiel about how unhealthy chain restaurants are, the ethics behind them, what their food is made from, what the meal you’re craving tells him about your current mental and physical state, the whole shebang. He sounds super pretentious, and will continue to be that way until you point out that time you saw him crouched behind the generators in his lab eating a Big Mac he’d reheated using the warmth they give off. That’ll have him shutting up and taking you to the nearest McDonald’s in a heartbeat.
La Signora - She’ll pull into the nearest McDonald’s with no hesitation, roll up to the window, then order herself an iced long black without a semblance of pity towards you. If you complain about it too much, she threatens to leave you on the side of the road somewhere. She will staunchly refuse to buy you a Happy Meal, no matter how much you beg and plead. Though there are rare occasions, when she knows you’ve had a rough day, that she’ll soften a little and get you your meal.
Pantalone - He’ll go into a rant about how fast food isn’t good for you, and how it takes advantage of lower income groups in order to pedal food that he deems to be ‘greasy’ and ‘unhealthy’, and give you this whole snooty lecture about it before insisting on taking you somewhere nicer. Though, he’s not entirely heartless. If he realises you’re just seeking out a familiar comfort food, he’ll begrudgingly take you to get your Happy Meal. Though, if there’s anything at all wrong with the order, he can and will threaten to go marching back in there to scold some minimum-wage employees (in reality, he’s always perfectly polite to them).
Pierro - He’s not really for the idea at first. Not out of malice or anything, he just dislikes taking detours and being in unfamiliar situations. With some convincing, he’ll eventually fold and take you to get your food. He always yells way too loudly at the machine and grumbles about using the little card-tappy machine. He also has this strange curse where the employees will always give him the wrong toy, and you’ll end up with the one you didn’t want. Even if you try to remedy this by asking for the other one, they happen to get it right that time. It’s rather ridiculous, but also pretty funny.
Pulcinella - He’s super enthusiastic about it and will take you there right away. Despite his somewhat dark and heartless reputation, he’s very sweet to those he likes and adores spoiling them rotten whenever the opportunity presents itself. Every now and then, he’ll order the same thing as you, just to give it a try. If you pay attention, you’ll notice that he keeps the toys and puts them up in his office, like a nice little reminder of the time you two spent together. However, he can and will mispronounce things and the secondhand embarrassment is downright painful.
Sandrone - She is the embodiment of the memes where a girlfriend says they don’t want any food, then proceeds to steal their partner’s fries. She may buy herself a drink or hotcakes or something when she orders your meal, but she’ll insist that she doesn’t need anything more substantial for herself, but once the food is nearby, she seems to realise that she’s actually quite hungry, and will steal parts of your meal for herself without even looking at you.
Scaramouche - Turns his nose up at you and scowls, telling you that you can get it yourself, in your own time, and not to bother him with such pesky requests in the future. If you continue to bother him about it, he’ll threaten to kick you out of the car and leave you, but eventually he just crumples, and moans and gripes as he pulls into the drive-thru. He can be pretty snippy with the employees, but you wind up with your food nonetheless. He doesn’t take any special requests though, so you’ll always end up with the basic meal and whatever toy the person who served you tosses your way.

I probably think way too much about how very little Sam knew about Mary. How John and Dean gave him almost nothing, to the point that she wasn't even really like a ghost shadowing his life, more like the story of one overheard in bits and pieces over the years. And yet, his whole life from when he can first remember—every bit of motivation or guilt, every point of pride or shame—is built around his mother, this person he isn't allowed to know.
I've written a lot of bits and pieces about it before, but never a standalone. This is actually an excerpt from a longer story, but I modified it some and I think it works on its own, hopefully (he knows about hunting already but that's really the only canon difference).
..........................
When Sam's in fourth grade, and has to write a page about his favorite memory, he asks for Dean's help. All he can seem to dredge up at the moment is just too weird or too farfetched. Things that say far too much about the way they live for a teacher to read.
So he asks Dean what he would write about.
After some teasing about his best memories being of all the times Sam's embarrassed himself (and a well-aimed pink rubber eraser hitting him between the eyes) Dean quiets down and turns thoughtful.
"Well, I dunno what my most favorite memory would be, really. I guess…" He bites his lip, chews on it for a second, gaze directed absently into the distance. "I think it would prob'ly be my first memories? It musta been, like, when I was three and four maybe. They're…of Mom."
"Oh." Sam's chest gets a little tight. He speaks quietly, cautiously. Dean—Dean and Dad both—they don't talk about her much. Sam's seen her picture, the one that Dad keeps in his journal, a few times, but he knows so little about her. Just that she was pretty (beautiful), with a smile that reminds of him of Dean's and wavy blonde hair. "What was she—what are they like?"
Dean smiles, maybe a little sad, but it's more than that. Warm, wistful; gaze still unfocused and distant. "Mostly…happy. Like…bright. She'd sing to me a lot, and, like, I didn't know the songs back then, but, when I hear 'em now, I can hear her voice singing them. Beatles, Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel, um…Peter, Paul, and Mary, maybe…" Dean chuffs out a laugh. "I remember Puff the Magic Dragon, at least…I think I even remember Dad teasin' her about how she better sing me some real music, too, not just sissy crap, but, I dunno, maybe I made that up."
Dean pauses, that bittersweet expression on his face, still, and Sam doesn't want him to get lost in it. He also doesn't want to miss this opportunity, if he can help it.
"I dunno. He'd say somethin' like that." Dean spares him half a smile, still somewhere else in his head. "What…what else do you remember? What'd you guys do together?"
"Well, not a whole lot. I guess mostly just the normal stuff you do with a little kid. Like legos, I remember we'd build castles an' fortresses and stuff. I wanted her to build me a car but we didn't have enough black bricks, so she made me a little boat instead. Dad said it looked like a bathtub." He smiles. "Um, she'd dance with me, sometimes. To the radio. Make lunch—I mostly remember sandwiches and Mac n' Cheese. I'd sit in that little seat in the cart when she went to the grocery store, and she'd ask me what was on the list and I'd pretend I could read it and make up dumb stuff."
The silence is longer this time. Sam breathes out, carefully. "What kinda stuff?"
"I dunno. Just silly things, like 'elephant steaks!' Or 'a unicorn!' Or 'poop n' rhubarb pie!'"
"Gross." Sam wrinkles his nose.
Dean grins at that. "I think you're, like, the only kid ever who never found poop and fart jokes funny."
"'Cause they're not."
When Dean laughs, muttering little weirdo, Sam looks around for something harmless to throw at him, pouts.
"Don't worry, Sammy, if anyone wonders why you're so weird I'll just tell them it's 'cause you still poop your pants, and you're kinda sensitive about it an' all."
"Dean."
Sam decides that his pencil is perfectly fine to throw after all and, as a concession, doesn't aim it at his head. Dean grins, not seeming too annoyed by the assault, so Sam decides to push his luck.
"Did Mom think it was funny? Your lists?"
Dean's melancholy little smile is back. "Yeah…yeah, I think she did. She'd always laugh, anyways. An' she had the best laugh. I'd make up stuff that just got more and more ridiculous just so I could keep watchin' her laugh." He sighs, shrugs. "Anyways, yeah…that's Mom. That's what I remember."
It gets quiet after that, and Sam can see Dean's face starting to shutter over as he withdraws. It's rare for Sam to get to see his brother so open and unguarded any more. Over the last few years, Dean's started to change; Sam can tell. Still fun, still charming, still affectionate, at least with Sam (mostly when there's no one else around to catch him being so uncool). But, even though they're not always alike—Dean doesn't usually brood, rarely explodes, and he never gets that kind of burning cold John does when he's focused on something—sometimes now he kinda reminds Sam of Dad. He's been more closed off, the way Dad can be, his deeper emotions pushed farther away, out of Sam's reach. Doesn't show when things get to him, like he used to.
It's actually kind of lonely, sometimes.
"So, what are you gonna write about, Sammy?"
When Sam shrugs, Dean suggests the time they ran out of gas on a back road in central Florida. They'd only walked two miles before an Oscar Myer Wienermobile came barreling down the road, seemingly out of nowhere, and gave them a lift to and from the closest gas station (still a good eight miles away). Sam counters with the night in Montana that Dad got so drunk he started fighting with the motel owner about yetis (Dad coming down hard on the side of 'hoax'). They ended up getting kicked out at two am after Dad had cut down the guy’s “Bigfoot Crossing” sign with an axe. They toss back and forth increasingly ridiculous ideas until they're both laughing so hard they're in literal tears. When John comes back, they can't even stop long enough to answer what's so funny. Dad just smiles, bemused and fond, and shakes his head before heading off to shower.
Sam thinks maybe he can add this afternoon to his Good Memories pile.
In the end, he waits until that evening, before bed, and easily fills up a page-and-a-half about the time, last summer, when Dad was on a hunt out west and he and Dean had spent all afternoon exploring tidal pools in Yaquina Head, Oregon, marveling at the tiny little aquatic worlds they found. He invents an older teenage cousin that tagged along so the teacher won't question why two young kids spent the day alone in a national park.
He gets an A.
From then on, Sam keeps his eyes out in thrift stores for cassettes from the bands Dean mentioned; pockets them when he can to listen to later on the beat-up Walkman knock-off Dean stole for him for his sixth birthday. He likes a lot of it, but he's careful about what he keeps; only his favorites. He stashes them in the bottom of his school bag, in the hollowed-out book that Bobby showed him how to make last year, on a rainy day when Sam got bored with watching old Westerns.
For some reason, he doesn't want Dean to know about them. Doesn't want him to feel like Sam's trying to take something away from him. So he slips them in when he's sitting in the back of the Impala alone, on long trips, and closes his eyes. Lets the albums pour into his ears over the headphones; shuts the rest of the world out. Sgt Pepper's. Pet Sounds. Bookends. He tries to imagine his mom, Mary, singing the songs to him, in a sunny kitchen.
But he can never really pull together a complete image of her; just bits and pieces, blurred-together impressions: yellow hair, the smiling face from the picture (looking kind of flat, like a mask), a flowered dress he'd seen in a shop window. And he doesn't know what her voice sounded like, so it kind of just ends up being a composite of the voices of some of his favorite teachers (along with the mother of a classmate back in Indiana who drove him home once when she spotted him waiting for the rain to stop under the playground slide).
So he gives up on trying to picture her, and, instead, just tries to sink into the music, sees if he can feel what she was feeling when she listened to it. Imagines the conversations they might have: which songs would be her favorites, why she would have liked them, where she was the first time she heard them playing.
When he hears those songs on the radio now, or over the speakers in a restaurant, it makes him feel kind of happy and sad at the same time.
They remind him of her.
(Except for America—for some reason, that one makes him think of Dean.)

Post death-Kyle spencer x fem!reader
(Kyle takes a liking to the sweet witch who moves in to the academy)
(Warnings: unedited, fluff, sad emotions idk)
(Words: 1444)
* ・゚☆ 。・ * ・゚★ 。・ * ・゚☆
“Why do I have to go.” I ask my sister, my eyes stinging from the nerves.
“You need help controlling your power. You can’t keep risking your life for others at every inconvenience.” Misty says as we walk through the gates of the academy.
“That’s literally what I do. I’m a people pleaser. I can’t do anything for myself, greed has no power over me.” I smile softly. It’s a blessing and a curse, having so much power and yet so little control over how I use it. I can’t do anything out of a selfish act. But I still end up hurt at the end of the day.
“Which is why miss Cordelia is going to help you. Ok?” She smiles adjusting my shawl and knocking on the door. I nod in response and the door opens.
“Hello, you must be y/n, I’m Cordelia, misty has told us lots about you.” The blonde haired woman smiles as she reaches her hand out to shake.
“It’s very nice to meet you miss.” I say shyly.
“Now, now no need to be shy, why don’t you come inside, the other girls are so excited to meet you. It’s been a little chaotic around here these past few days and your sure to bring some happiness to the lot of them.” She says and escorts me into the huge White House they call a school.
“Girls I want you to meet y/n the newest addition to the academy.” Miss Cordelia says as we walk up on a group of 4 girls at a long table.
“Hi, I’m Zoe.” One of the girls with light brown hair says with a slight smile in her eyes and I return the favor as the others get out of there seats to say hello.
“Maddison Montgomery.” A slim girl with blonde hair says intimidatingly sticking out her hand for me to shake.
“H- hello.” I say quietly return the gesture.
Nan and Queenie introduce them selfs next causing me to smile. I can sense the vibrant energy off of the two of them and I smile feeling the same from Zoe as she gets closer, finally leaving her seat at the table.
“Girls why don’t you show her to her room and help with her bags as I talk with misty.” Cordelia insists and I’m taken up the stairs by the girls.
“So here is the room you’ll be staying in, we’ve been putting Kyle in there but he can sleep on are floor or something.” Says Madison to Zoe and I, causing my brows to furrow.
“I don’t want to remove anyone from there rooms, I’m fine with bunking, me and misty shared a room at her home for years.” I smile confused at the girls nervous looks towards the thought of me bunking with the Kyle the brought up.
“Are you sure it’s not like Kyle has any choice in the matter, he can’t even say no.” Madison laughs and Zoe lightly smacks her hand in annoyance.
“I’ll be fine.” I say trying to lighten the mood and they open the door. As I get a view of the room I see a blonde boy on seated on the bed with headphones covering his ears and he hums quietly along.
Madison marches up to the boy and forcefully pulls the headphones of his head causing him to flinch a bit.
“Kyle this is Y/n Day she’s going to be sleeping in the bed over there.” She says pointing to the other bed in the room.
“You have a roommate Kyle isn’t that fun.” Zoe says with much more kindness in her voice but I can still sense the panic in the boys dark eyes.
Zoe waves me over to them and a slowly make my way over to them and Zoe delicately has me sit next to him on the bed to introduce myself, but instead of using words first I softly place my hand over one of his and help him calm down with a tap of my finger to his palm. He looks up at me surprised and I smile.
“Hello Kyle, I’m y/n.” I say and his eyes light up.
“Y/n?” He says raising a hand to my hair with a bright smile and I lightly laugh at the gesture.
“Kyle can speak, but it’s hard for him after what he’s been through.” Zoe explains and I look up at her not being able to shake the familiarity I get from the boy. Madison walks up to Zoe after being gone from the room for a moment and tells her something.
“Kyle we’ll be right back ok, miss Delia wants y/n down stairs.” Zoe says and Kyle nods. I get up and wave good bye seeing the sweet smile he has as he watches me leave.
“He seems familiar to me, is that weird?” I ask as we enter the main hall downstairs.
“Not at all actually, I see you’ve met Kyle again.” Cordelia says and I look to my sister confused.
“Again?” I ask.
“He was the boy with the scars from a month or two ago. Remember. That’s how I knew to bring you here. When Zoe explained where she was staying, when she brought Kyle, l told her about you.” She explains and I think back to that day I came home to find a random boy covered in mud on my bed.
“Wow no wonder I didn’t recognize him sooner, he’s made so much progress.” I said my eyes lighting up and misty looks pleased knowing she had done good work on healing the boy.
“Well now that we have all that explain why don’t we eat before misty has to go.” Cordelia says and I feel that pit of nerves in my stomach again. I haven’t been away from my sister in a while. Being 19 years old and unstable with my emotions, I was not gonna do so well with her away from me I feared.
When she left later that night I couldn’t control my outburst of emotion so I quietly walked up to my shared room and sat on the bed codling my shawl she made me. Silent tears dripping on it in a rapid stream. Kyle was to distracted by his music and headphones for him to even notice my distraught state.
Or so I thought.
I feel a dip in the bed next to me and look over to see Kyle reaching a hand up to my cheek.
“Why cry?” He asks quietly.
“My sister has just left me here, I miss her very much Kyle.” I say smiling through the tears as he attempts to wipe them away. He takes my hand and places a finger to my palm and I notice him trying to replicate my calming spell from earlier. I smile at the boys gentleness and hold his hand in mine stopping his failed attempt to calm me down. He looks up at me and takes my finger placing it on my own palm. His eyes looking desperate.
“I’m sorry Kyle I can’t do it to myself. I can only help others.” I smile and he frowns.
“It’s ok. I’m ok.” I reassure him but he still looks sad. His eyes suddenly brighten and he gets up heading to his own bed only to rush back with his headphones and tablet in hand. I look at him confused till he places the headphones softly over my ears and points to the tablet. I think I have an idea of what he means so I look up my sister and I’s favorite song. Rihannon by Fleetwood Mac. I smile at the thought of us spinning around the room listening to the entrancing voice of the white witch. I look to Kyle who now has a big smile on his face noticing my tears have stopped.
I remove the headphones from my ears and he looks confused till I remove them from the tablet as well letting the soft music play through the speaker. I grab his hand and I lay down looking up at the ceiling closing my eyes content with the sound.
I feel an arm slightly resting on mine and peek over to see Kyle laying beside me mimicking my closed eyes and calm demeanor. I smile to myself and hum along to the music as I drift away to sleep as the boy with the beautiful soul lays next to me feeing the same calmness he hasn’t felt in a while.
