twiyor eden au headcanons 📚
• [redacted] adopted the name loid after imigrating to ostania with his mother, partly for assimilation reasons and partly because he wanted a fresh start. his mother changed her name as well so he wouldn't feel alone in that.
• loid achieved the highest score in eden's admission tests to date. there was quite a bit of opposition to him joining the prestigious school, but ultimately it was decided that a flow of students between both countries could be a good step toward peace. that's how the characters from westalis are accepted into eden.
• yor is not particularly academically gifted, but she's insanely physically gifted. an increasing number of sports trophies in eden's trophy room are only there because yor was part of the team. she excels at sports.
• no one really wants to approach a guy from westalis first and loid isn't particularly talkative. he keeps mostly to himself—until this girl in class speaks to him. apparently, the teacher paired them together for class. not that loid hears her at first, too fixated thinking she'sprettyshe'sreally pretty. they finish their activity without any issues, and yor admits that she's been wanting to approach him for weeks because he looked lonely on his own.
• franky is in a different class, fiona is his junior, and sylvia is his senior.
• yor herself doesn't have many friends (and the ones she does have aren't all that nice to her), so she can empathize with loid. while loid himself didn't feel lonely, he finds yor quite pleasant to be around. they quickly grow close.
• loid's favorite subjects are history and literature. yor's favorite subjects are pe and arts.
• yor's parents aren't home a lot of the time. she ends up going to loid's mom for advice/help.
• i've never had those so i'm not sure what they're called, but you know those classes where students learn how to take care of a household (as in, doing cooking, finance management, etc)? so, that's where loid finds out just how terrible yor is at cooking. he exchanges their dishes so she won't get scolded by their teacher. yor gets quite emotional about it and vows to do better.
• it's not uncommon for loid to bring cookies he's baked to yor. since they can't eat them during classes, they try to be subtle about it. it turns out they're great at being sneaky.
• yor's grades start improving after spending time with loid. in turn, loid is not as stressed anymore. they balance each other out.
• when he starts thinking of yor in a less platonic way, he does absolutely nothing about it. it's yor that holds his hand first. she pulled her hand away in 0.2 seconds, but she did it! he becomes a little braver after that. not much though. he might get kicked. it happened to some guy that confessed to yor, or so he heard.
• he thinks he might kiss yor during a summer school festival, but she almost passes out after eating from the same spoon as him.
• high-school age loid has real beef with middle-school age yuri. it's a little embarrassing for him.

Parallel Elegy (whom he will never be loved by)
Tumblr media
pairing: Miguel O'Hara x Reader
summary: Miguel O'Hara and his pain throughout the multiverse.
cw. angsty angst, too much angst i think
bye this short idea came up while i'm listening to Marc. this man will never find happiness it seems.
In all the universe he has seen, your fate hurts him the most.
He loves you too much, he thinks. Your smile lifts up his sad little cold heart, your gentle touch warms him up giving him those ridiculous butterflies in his stomach. You always worry for him, always working, tiring himself in keeping the multiverse intact.
Miguel could only smile, a painful bitter smile that crept up in his lips.
His eyes were glued on the translucent screens that glowed orange. He stared at your smile, the creases of your eyes, the sound of your laughter ringing in his ears. He knows that he will be only hearing those from his devices alone.
Every time he jumps through universes he never misses the time to look at you. Maybe observe you from the rooftops as you enter your apartment. There, he saw his variant—smiling at you with pure love. His heart hurts, he knew, he knew your fate will begin soon.
Unlike other Spiderpeople and their canon events where Uncle, Aunt, and their lover dies. It was different for Miguel O’Hara, especially when it comes to you. All of your events with him ended entirely differently.
It was unexpected, it was—different.
You fell, you died, you left him. He could not bear to witness the time where your dull eyes bore at him, his pleas at you to come back were left unheard. You could only give him a sad smile, his life has already died after you left him.
At times, there is another universe where you were nowhere to be found. Disappeared, left missing in your world. And where at times, you were found, your life long gone as you were taken to be tortured and tested as a subject for some kind of experiment.
He can’t, he can’t bear to witness all of this. But oh, oh his soft little heart. Maybe just maybe he could see you one more time.
There he found a universe where his variant died, he used himself as a replacement. To be your husband and the father of your child.
You did not notice anything strange, you were oblivious. Too in love with your oh so called husband. It took him a while to warm up to you after seeing those traumatic and painful memories but you have helped him unintentionally.
You three lived as a happy family, not disturbance. Nothing. It was just the love of a family that Miguel could not afford in his universe. A coping mechanism for him.
Not until your universe started to collapse.
Everything glitched, buildings started to disintegrate into colorful nothings. All Miguel could think about was you and your child to get back to safety.
Your grip on his arm tightened, you were scared, scared for your daughter and scared for Miguel. You don’t know what will happen after this, if you three will have a home to stay. You two both ran, your daughter cradled on Miguel’s arms.
But at some point, you feel like running doesn’t do anything. So you stopped, Miguel stopped too, his face furrowed with confusion and frustration. He called you out, telling you that you needed to run with him. You only shaked your head. Reaching out for his cheeks, you placed your hands on them. You smiled at him. A sweet kiss was placed on his lips.
“I love you.” you spoke, your face glitching, blurring from the vary of colors. You were starting to disappear.
Before he could even call out your name, you already disappeared. The warmth of your hands on his cheeks were now becoming cold. He looked at his arms as he saw his daughter looking at him with a worried face as she started to glitch. She herself too disappeared, the weight on his arms are now gone.
Miguel stared at the screen where you and Gabriella were alive and happy. His cold stare on the screen were to be seen by his AI.
He will never be happy. Never to be loved by.

I really like your take on Daisy's parents and how you took real life inspirations for them. I also find it sad that Daisy lost her mother at a young age and thus her father was a bit more protective of her.
How would Daisy's father react when his daughter tells him about the relationship she is in? And how would he react towards Luigi when he eventually shows up in Sarasaland?
Ah man, I have only just managed to catch up with my inboxes that need answering! So sorry for the lateness, but here it goes!
(Like how I state in my other Daisy related Headcanons. I shall use the name Richard for her father, because that’s what it seems most of the fans use!)
- A Father’s First Impressions -
• The Princess claims she has found her soulmate? How surprising, really! As much of a leader Richard is, nothing could prepare him for THIS.
• At first, is the usual “Oh! How delightful!” As his on-the-spot response. But inside the turning cogs of his head, he’s already kind of an uncertain mode. For some reason, he always thought that Daisy wasn’t an easy person to win over. In fact, he even sort of takes pride that his daughter can be strong and super independent. That even a Prince needs to keep up with her.
Basically, he got this kind of vision of Daisy in his head that’s a bit different.
• To put it bluntly. The moment when he sees Luigi, he was a bit skeptical. The King found the plumber to be the complete opposite of what he thought Daisy would be in love with. I mean, nothing exactly bad with that. But it definitely caught him off Guard. certainly not the ideal image of a perfect Suitor for his daughter.
• Richard is definitely one of those type of fathers who appear to intimidate and interrogate. Having gotten Luigi’s first impression as a more timid and polite character, the King takes his approach steadily. Simple questions at first. Then as time goes on, he begins to try and delve for knowledge of Luigi’s being, and test him with other questions so far.
• ESPECIALLY at The Dinner feast for the guests! In a more comedic outcome, Richard might become a little too intimidating, to the point where he renders Luigi bumbling a bit over his answers. As the older brother, Mario immediately catches this (I’d like to believe Daisy actually went to Mario for help when she first found herself falling for Luigi!) and notifies Daisy for a swoop-and-save.
• After Hilariously pulling her father out from his chair and out of the room for a ‘few words’, The Princess right away tells her father to cut it out, and that He’s embarrassing her in front of the guests.
The King tries to cover up his little stunt as ‘Just asking questions!”. But upon being the subject of his Daughter’s steely glare, he gives in, defeated. He deeply apologizes, and confesses that he honestly couldn’t understand why she would choose someone like Luigi. Daisy firmly retorts back that Richard is being ridiculous.
• If I am trying to align the King’s personality with the Kodansha Conic more, He’s not the type I think to want to ‘break up’ the two. But he will be prone to nit-pick and point out things that Luigi might have done wrong. Or passive-aggressively put emphasis on Luigi’s flaws.
• I’d like to think that it’s gotten so ridiculous at some points, that a couple of times Mario’s more take-charge attitude has lead to him to defending his brother every time. And in worse case scenarios, ALMOST wanting to argue back. But by the good grace of his younger brother’s pleads to hold back and just be calm. He does it for Luigi’s sake.
• I’d like to think that at some point though, the King has been proven wrong. There would be a moment where he would see the Mario Brothers at the height of their power, leaving him in awe.
• Although at the end it still does take a bit getting used to accepting the fact that his daughter is in love with someone like Luigi. The King does genuinely apologize at the end for giving Luigi a Hard time. And it is in that moment, where the King reveals a bit on why Daisy means so much to him.
• Or picture this. An Enemy that has backed Luigi into a corner. But the King immediately jumps in front to his defense without hesitation.
And the most surprising thing? You mess with his future Son-In-Law? You mess with the King, the Royal Family…and most likely the other kings from the 4 Kingdoms.

I was thinking about how in the first game, GLaDOS says ‘we’ a lot up until the endgame, and she really doesn’t do that in the second. We can assume that this wording is referring to Aperture as a whole and their ‘public image’. In the first game, GLaDOS still has a professional attitude and is focused on running things how they’re ‘supposed’ to be run and keeping up with what Cave Johnson started. In short, using ’we’ could symbolize her loyalty to the business and to Cave. If this is the case, it reveals some interesting truths about how she is built in the second game:
Firstly, it shows that she is thinking much less of the company aspect of Aperture, which I think does show through in her actions and words. She has none of the previously mentioned ‘professionalism’ and doesn’t seem to care at all about keeping up the legacy left behind by Old Aperture. She becomes childish, throws insults around, doesn’t even pretend that she’s not being especially mean to Chell or otherwise not treating her like she would any other normal subject. This is very significant because it shows just how much her motives and values have shifted between the two games. Even after she forgives Chell, even in the co-op campaign, she still seems to have no respect left for Aperture as an organization. She gets a lot more selfish and lax with the rules and just kind of does whatever she wants (including testing robots instead of people as the original scientific mission entailed). It is up to us to wonder whether that was all just the morality and/or anger and/or curiosity cores, or whether some other event triggered this change.
Additionally, it draws an interesting parallel between her and Chell and how they each change between games. I believe it was in the developer commentary that someone talked about a certain, seemingly small detail: the fact that Chell has tied the sleeves of her jumpsuit around her waist instead of wearing it properly. Basically, it said that it symbolizes her ‘shedding’ the logo in an act of defiance and indifference to her prison, and also that she’s ‘rolling up her sleeves’ and preparing to fight dirty this time if that’s what it takes. That seems quite similar to what happened with GLaDOS. They both are cutting themselves off from the company of Aperture, and they’re both acting in what could be interpreted as defiance toward the establishment that’s keeping them both there. Even in the beginning of the game when they are clearly painted as enemies, they are in quite similar positions. Whether they realize it or not, it’s the company’s fault that they even ended up pitted against each other in the first place, and they’re only against each other to start because they’re both so stubborn that they refuse to cooperate until it’s absolutely necessary.
This could also have something to do with GLaDOS slowly realizing (or remembering, I guess) what happened with Caroline and the non-consensual computerization that happened to her all those years ago. Now that the numbing, stupefying, pacifying presence of the morality core is gone, she can see herself and her situation for what they are and can feel something wrong. Once that starts to dawn on her, perhaps she doesn’t really want to be the head of such a company anymore. She may also be doing it to defy Cave since she now knows that he’s the one who did this to her. (It’s unclear how she feels about Cave once she remembers what happened. She seems to still like him, since she hypes him up when he talks, but we can’t know for sure since she doesn’t give us much. Perhaps she’s more focused on her old self, and maybe she only starts defying Aperture to do what she thinks her old self would have wanted. But that creates an interesting contrast between her deleting Caroline and her doing what we can assume Caroline would have wanted. Maybe she realizes this, maybe not, maybe she realizes that she’s trying to heal her old wounds by deviating from the set system and she doesn’t like this and deletes Caroline to try and stop it, there’s sooo much I could talk about here. Anyway!) Similarly, Chell realizes that this place managed to drag her back down into its jaws, and is willing to do whatever it takes, to break as many rules as she needs to (again, and it will be even harder this time, and she probably knows this), in order to get out. For Chell, it’s not nearly as much of a change since she obviously never liked what was going on, but she’s now in an outright war instead of quietly trying to slip out the back door. (This brings up a possible argument as to whether or not Chell was planning to kill GLaDOS in the first game all along or whether she just went through whatever door was open and ended up in her chamber, but that’s a different post.) Maybe they’re both distancing themselves from the company facade that Aperture’s made and trying to do whatever they can to defy and escape the prison that they certainly now know that it is, whether they realize, like, or admit it or not.
Or I could be looking too far into it and it could simply be because GLaDOS finally accepted the fact that there is no more public on the surface to maintain an image for and just plain enjoys tormenting Chell with no restrictions , but that’s no fun.

Outis Base EGO Sin Analysis
Right, I made this blog specifically to analyze her sins... and promptly forgot to do that!
For the meanings of each sin, I’ll be largely referring to this post from @lu-is-not-ok (its a very good post, do check it out!)
I originally meant to do her base ID and EGO in the same post, but, the EGO alone goes on for a while. (I’ll probably write up the base ID tomorrow)
Tumblr media
Sin Costs
To Páthos Máthos costs 2 pride and 2 sloth, and translates to "Suffering Becomes Experience". Pride generally represents ignoring consequences. Act now, deal with the problems later. And almost always, pride-related actions ate taken out of the belief the benefits will outweigh the consequences. Sloth, on the other hand, represents apathy and resignation. It has many uses, but a particular use I think resonates with this ego is to do things without ever complaining or acting out.
Together, these sins would suggest that Outis believes what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. That she should press on, stoic and ignoring the pain, believing in the end she'll come out better for it. But, I don't think she actually believes that. Rather, it's what she *wants* to believe.
Early in canto 4, Outis tells the other sinners that "experiencing a certain pain will make you learn to fear and avoid it." And she says this in a very different tone of voice to the rest of her speech. It certainly doesn't sound like the words or tone of someone who thinks pain makes them stronger.
Her EGO's line is "the odyssey has a purpose." And in the context of her speech in canto 4? It sounds to me like she's trying to convince herself. She's trying to tell herself that there's meaning to her suffering, and that she hasn't just gone through all this for no reason. Telling herself that her odyssey did have a purpose.
Sin Resistances
There’s a few theories around about what exactly sin resistances on a sinner’s EGO means (like this one from analytical-machine!), but for this analysis I’ll be sticking to my own interpretation of it.
In the abnormality EGOs, I don’t believe resistances mean much of anything.it’s just the abnormality’s resistances, and it’s always identical across all sinners with the same EGO. But, the base EGOs are more interesting.
For a sinner’s base EGO, I believe the sins they’re fatal to are in some way connected to the origins of their traumas, while the sin they endure is how they’re trying to escape it - either literally or metaphorically.
For instance, Gregor has fatal for gloom and envy damage - respectively representing his PTSD and feelings towards G corp, and Hermann using him as a test subject and poster boy. On the other hand, he endures sloth. Gregor escaped the room he was locked into when, out of resignation, he cut the apple and was allowed to leave - resignation being heavily associated with sloth.
The resistances for To Páthos Máthos are: Fatal: lust, envy Endured: gloom
The combination of lust and envy was odd. Lust is associated with self-indulgence, following your own whims and goals. But Envy is associated with taking action because of someone else. They seem like complete opposites. I kind of didn’t know what to do about them. But, @speedynamo had some great insight in some comments, and I’ll paraphrase those below.
For Outis’ envy weakness: In The Odyssey, Odysseus ended up in the trojan war because he was bound by a truce to support the Greeks if Helen were ever to be kidnapped. When Paris of Troy asked Aphrodite for the most beautiful woman on earth for marriage, Aphrodite gave him Helen - thus kicking off the war and dragging in Odysseus.
And for the lust: War's often promoted as something that will make you complete. And because of that, many people think the best way to achieve your desires is to go out, fight in war, and come back as a war hero.
Speedynamo mentioned that their analysis hinged on there being a very close equivalent to the Trojan war. And there certainly is: the smoke war! While the specifics probably aren’t identical, there is a good chance that Outis’ experience was similar. Something was stolen (likely Old L Corp’s singularity?), and a deal/truce involving it dragged Outis into the war, where she believed she could complete herself by becoming a war hero.
It probably didn’t work out that way, though. So, how does Outis deal with it? With her resisting gloom... it seems like she doesn’t handle it. Gloom as a sin is all about stewing in your negative emotions, buckling under pressure, letting those emotions control you. And while we never see her express this directly, there are a few rare moments where she seems to show this side of herself - like when she tells Dongrang the calf will remember him, or in her sunshower EGO’s corrosion line (which is a topic for another time)
But, with her mask(s) on constantly, it’s not often that you see this side to her.

Ive been wondering, what is Dokutaro's ultimate plan with using Kieran ?? Why him, specifically. And why does Doku want a new subject, is it a plan that requires specifically a human or something the original loyal 3 couldnt do? Or, if you dont want to spoil it, maybe a small hint? :3
Also, does Kieran ever feel at least a teeny bit of regret for giving himself up to Dokuatro? Does he ever remember Carmine and feels lonely, or is he completely content with leaving everybody he knew behind? And how do Carmine, the MC, and his grandparents feel about him? what do they know about his situation?
Buttload of questions, but I just really wanna know more about ur AU's story XD
Me answering this ask:
Tumblr media
Jokes aside, boy do I have a lot to say!
Okay so, Dokutaro's desire is to control everything and everyone in the world of Pokémon. He believes that free will is irrelevant and that world is meant to serve him.
However, he's willing to help those who help him, an exchange if you will. Dokutaro believes that if people and Pokémon are willing to do anything to achieve their desires, then losing their free will is a perfect price. And if they can't beat their foes with the power Dokutaro has given them, then it's not his problem. Besides, there's always more Pokémon who'll want to give in to their desires.
Dokutaro is kinda like a monkey's paw situation. You get what you want, but you lose your free will and become one of Dokutaro's Chained.
Dokutaro had only chained Pokémon before, as Pokémon are more susceptible to giving in to their desires and wants than people.
As for Kieran, he is merely a test for Dokutaro, to see if controlling people is actually possible, and Kieran takes a lot of effort to use. With Pokémon, they're more willing to give in to their desires and such, but people are more complex.
Dokutaro can give people and Pokémon one of his Toxic Chains and those give the user what they desire but also chain them to his will.
Dokutaro can also give people and Pokémon its mochi, but those given the mochi are less coherent than the others and are more used as mindless fodder than anything.
So why did Dokutaro choose Kieran specifically?
Kieran had just been "betrayed" by Ogerpon, Carmine, and the protagonists. He no longer looked up to Ogerpon and only saw her as a reminder of his weakness. Dokutaro realized that Kieran wouldn't be siding with Ogerpon anytime soon, so it was the perfect opportunity to have Kieran on his side.
Kieran's own self hatred and anger made himself be easily manipulated. He wanted power, he wanted to get stronger. Dokutaro would make sure that Kieran's wish would be granted.
And since controlling people takes a lot of effort, Dokutaro decided to just have Kieran be its main host and have its other victims mochified (that's a word I decided)
Those who are mochified by Kieran handing out the mochi like rice cakes are technically under Kieran's control as well, although since Dokutaro is manipulating him, they're technically under Dokutaro's control.
While possessing Kieran, who ends up as the BB Leauge Champion, it gives Dokutaro a great amount of power over the school. Kieran is Champion, people listen to him, and people probably won't question him, exactly what Dokutaro wanted. While the Blueberry Academy isn't the most ideal place for Dokutaro to spread its control, it's a good start for world domination.
As for Kieran, he does feel some regret from time to time. He sometimes wishes he could go home and just hang out with Carmine again and live a normal life, but Dokutaro is usually there to remind Kieran that this is totally worth it. (it's not. Don't get controlled by an evil peach, kids) The Loyal 3 do their best to make Kieran feel less alone and have him adjust to his new life.
Carmine hates herself for lying to Kieran, and she 100% knows that Kieran is up to something with that mysterious "plush" that disappeared from Peach'ys. Carmine does a lot of digging because she realizes that "Hey this might be a problem" and she's been researching everything about the Loyal 3 and Ogerpon to figure out what Dokutaro is (its a bit of an issue when all the history books contain the fabricated version of events)
His grandparents feel guilty as they believe that it was their fault that Kieran left. They wish that they told Kieran the truth before all this happened.
Florian and Juliana (they're twins in this AU) have some mixed feelings on Kieran. Florian believes that Kieran should have Ogerpon, but Juliana believes that Ogerpon gets to choose who she stays with. The two blame the other for what happened to Kieran, and they constantly argue about who's fault it is.
Carmine knows that Kieran has been receiving "help" from a Pokémon, but she can't find any info on it. She does know that Dokutaro is connected to the Loyal 3 and that they have beef with Ogerpon, but that's it.
The grandparents assume that Kieran hates them, and they don't know of Dokutaro's meddling.
Florian and Juliana do their own research on what's been helping Kieran, but they often help out Carmine and the group brainstorm together. Ogerpon is there for support and to make sure that Dokutaro gets punted to the sun for what he did.
OKAY I think that's everything you asked about. There's a whole bunch of other stuff I'd want to talk about but I'd have to make a new post because this one is so long. (Which I don't mind. I love receiving asks about my AU)

is there anything golden girls you have Lots of Thoughts on that you haven't got to talk about fully or been asked about yet? consider this a free space to share those thoughts.
Anon, this question is essentially a declaration of love to me. You couldn't have made me happier. I am kissing you on the lips (or going to buy the best cheesecake in the world for you, your pick).
After some deliberation, I ended up choosing a subject I've been thinking about (and mentioning on here) ever since my first watch-through of the series, i.e. why a queer reading of Dorothy, Blanche and Rose doesn't only make sense because of their interactions with each other, but is actually in line with their journey as characters, the challenges they face, and the overall tune of the show. It seems like I ended up writing a short essay about it, so I'm putting it all under a cut. Hope you enjoy!
Ok, so, I'd like to make a little premise first. I love the platonic view of the show. I'm always always fond of stories that celebrate the importance of platonic bonds. If anything I'm sort of annoyed that they sometimes use familial language (they're ‘sisters’, Sophia loves them 'as her own') to symbolize their love for one another, but I understand why they chose to use it -- it's a quick way to communicate profound affection to the audience, and especially to the audience at the time.
That being said, I feel like a queer romantic view of the bond between Dorothy, Rose, and Blanche is equally poignant -- and of course it's especially dear to me, as a queer woman. For one thing, it’s still in tune with the core message of the show: whatever kind of affection they feel for one another, they’re still an unusual unit by societal standards, and yet there's no doubt that they’re the most important people in each other’s life (in fact, one could argue that they are, in canon, what today we'd call a QPR, but I digress). They love each other, they're committed to each other, they share their lives, in a way that doesn't conform to societal standards.
Dorothy sums it up very well in her speech in S7E4 That’s For Me To Know: they’re not a conventional family, but theirs is a real, honest love. This is a message that feels very in tune with the queer experience: how many of us have been told that our loves, our identities, our relationships and our (chosen) families aren’t real? Not to mention some of the problems they face: how many queer people have been kept apart from their loved ones in the hospital because they weren't related? How many have gone through the anxiety of an HIV test? I'm not surprised the show resonated so much with queer people in the 80s/90s, and I'm not surprised it still does.
Dorothy
What about the characters themselves? Let's start with Dorothy, since I've already spoken a bit about her in the past. Dorothy's character journey is, in essence, a journey towards self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-love. She begins the show as a recently divorced woman who has been with the same horrid man for her entire adult life, a man she married in a hurry because he got her pregnant at 17; her self-esteem is on the floor. She doesn't know what being loved in a romantic sense means. Through living with the Girls she learns how to take back what she's lost; how to feel secure in her sexuality and attractiveness, how to love herself more, and (as a consequence of this self-love) how to open herself up to the world and other people. She even states so in the series finale:
We've all learned a lot from each other. I mean, Ma taught me life does not end because you've reached a certain age. And I've become much more comfortable with my sexuality because of Blanche. And Rose has taught me… Rose has taught me... [...] Anyway, because of them I feel that I'm ready to love you. (S7E25 One Flew Out Of The Cuckoo's Nest)
This is a queer-aligned narrative already!! Years and years of sacrifice and repression followed by a journey towards self-discovery thanks to love, support, and a sense of community? That's queer, baby! I particularly like the interpretation of Dorothy as a repressed lesbian because I feel like it fits very well with her character traits, but honestly, any queer reading of her fits as well. Having her realize that she is queer and eventually choose to act on it would have been a great way to reinforce her character journey.
It also would have added some amazing layers to her whole backstory, both as pertains to her marriage (doesn't it all feel more tragic, if you think of her as a repressed lesbian?) and, for example, to her friendship with Jean (how would she have felt seeing her friend be openly gay while she denied the same truth about herself?). I just think there's lots and lots that could be explored when we consider Dorothy in this lens.
Blanche
On to Blanche. A lot of Blanche's character traits (her vanity, her self-centeredness, her need to be the center of attention in a positive way) stem, I feel, from the way she was treated in her childhood and from two pivotal episodes in her life: the 'disappearance' of her Mammy and George's death. Her stories about her childhood (especially the ones she tells when her sisters are involved in an episode) make it seem as if her parents, while affectionate (Big Daddy especially), weren't exactly involved; she had to fight for their attention in constant competition with her siblings, particularly her sisters. There were only two people in her life whose love didn't feel dependent on her performance, her Mammy and George, and they both disappeared from her life abruptly and without any warning.
What does this teach a person? That they have to be the most attractive version of themselves at all times; that they need to be very careful with how they present themselves in society, so that they may always appear as the best within the bunch; that even the people who seem to love them unconditionally can leave them at any minute. The end result is Blanche, the woman in the mask. She seems very open in her attitude, especially towards the sexual sphere of life, but she's open in the same way the titular character of Fleabag is open:
Yeah, I think she’s using a certain type of honesty as a weapon of distraction. She talks very openly and honestly about sex so you feel like she’s being open with you when, actually, she’s completely hiding by doing that. She’s distracting you from a completely different side of her, which is the side that’s traumatized and in pain. (from this interview to Phoebe Waller-Bridge)
In truth, she's always very attentive to the way she presents herself to others, because she's afraid that people will turn away from her if she steps out of her persona. Look at what she says to her Mammy in S6E5 Wham, Bam, Thank You, Mammy:
You didn't even say goodbye. I woke up one morning, and you were gone. I loved you. I spent the next few years wondering what I'd done, what I'd said to make you leave me.
She's convinced (until this episode, at least) that she was abandoned by someone she loved so dearly because of something she'd done. And, well, George's death is a bit of a different thing, but also... do you think she hasn't spent long, sleepless nights wondering what would have happened if she'd convinced him not to go wherever he was going? If she'd gone with him? If she'd made different choices, if she'd said different things, if she'd been better?
What does all this have to do with queerness? Well... we know that some of Blanche's issues manifest in her constant concern with how society perceives her. This ranges from her search for rich and sophisticated men to parade around to her struggle to accept Rebecca's decision to undergo artificial insemination -- not to mention how she reacts to Clayton's coming out and especially to his decision to marry Doug. If that was how she reacted to a member of her family proudly coming out as gay, how would she react to the realization that she might also be queer in some way?
I figure the steps would be her usual ones -- denial denial denial, fear of judgement, bargaining with herself, eventual acceptance and even pride -- but with the added complexity of having to deal with something that concerns her and her desires. Not her daughter, not her brother, her. If she comes out and/or acts on her attraction, any eventual consequence from a societal standpoint would be due to her actions, not a reflection of someone close to her, and I feel like that would be interesting to explore. We already know she can get over her fear and prejudices when it comes to the people she loves; can she do the same for herself? I like to think she would, eventually, overcome her need for societal approval, just like she (sort of) does in the show, and the journey there would be fascinating from a character standpoint.
Rose
What about Rose? There's a minor thread in her character journey that's about fear of intimacy due to Charlie's death, but it gets resolved pretty early on (apart from an episode in S7, but I feel like that's more of a momentary setback than anything major). Apart from this, I think her character growth is about becoming bolder: more sure of herself, better at advocating for herself and her loved ones, better at asking people to respect her needs and wants.
This is a very minor spoiler for The Golden Palace, so thread with a pinch of caution, but -- in it, Dorothy is shocked that Rose became strong, and while I understand her surprise, I don't think that's necessarily the right word to use. Rose is meek, and gentle, and she certainly wasn't at her best at the beginning of the show (S1E9 Break In and S1E22 Job Hunting are proof enough), but I think we forget that she's overcome a lot throughout her life. It takes a strong person to recognize that her home is too filled with grief to keep living there, and uproot her whole life (leaving behind her whole community and support system) to begin to heal:
The winters are rough, here in Minnesota, and this place is too filled with memories to let me get on with my life. I need to start over without you, Charlie, and I think this is the best way. (from S2E25 A Piece Of Cake)
I think she's always been a tough cookie, and remarkably in touch with her emotions, even if her grief for Charlie momentarily weakened her. Living with the Girls helps her get her conviction back and gain the newfound boldness she needs to know she has a spine of steel and use it when the moment calls for it.
Realizing that she might be queer would encourage her in this journey towards boldness, I feel. I don't think she'd have any internal hang-ups like Dorothy and Blanche would (her sort of reticence towards homosexuality in the show seems like it comes from a place of ignorance, rather than repression), but we know she can be sensitive to societal perception, even if not at Blanche's level (see S1E13 A Little Romance), and a queer relationship is the sort of thing that, unfortunately, invites a lot of societal scrutiny. The need to be there and ensure the safety and happiness of her partner(s) would embolden her to show her strength and aid her journey as a character.
Sophia
As an addendum: what would a coming out from any of her three Girls (Dorothy especially) mean for Sophia? In the show she's always supportive of homosexuality:
Jean is a nice person; she just likes girls instead of guys. Some people like cats instead of dogs. Frankly, I'd rather live with a lesbian than a cat. Unless a lesbian sheds, that I don't know. I'll tell you the truth, Dorothy. If one of my kids was gay, I wouldn't love him one bit less. I would wish him all the happiness in the world. (S2E5 Isn't It Romantic?)
That's what Doug and Clayton want, too. Everyone wants someone to grow old with. And shouldn't everyone have that chance? (S6E14 Sisters Of The Bride)
However, she's also shown to have some hang-ups when it comes to this sort of thing. Her issues with Phil's cross-dressing are the best example, but I'd count her attitude towards Rose while they're waiting for her AIDS test results in the mix, too. I wonder if a coming out from (one of) her Girls would prove more difficult to handle? I have no doubts that she'd come around in the end, of course -- I just wonder if she might have to work at it a bit first (and if her reaction to Dorothy coming out would be any different from her reaction to Blanche and/or Rose coming out).
Sophia's journey in the show is subtle, and the one I find harder to pinpoint. My personal opinion is that she gradually becomes softer around the edges, more open and openly vulnerable with the Girls; she gets more playful, more relaxed, more in her element as the show progresses. I think it's possible that a coming out from (one of) her Girls would encourage this progression towards openness; having her loved ones confide in her about something so personal would invite more confidence from her part too.
Whew, that was a long answer! It's a mess and I'm sure there's lots more that could be explored -- these are just some of my thoughts finally put on paper. If anyone has anything to add (or any contrasting opinion too!!) I'd love to read what you think!! In the meantime, anon, thank you so much for this ask. You seriously made my week!

Do you believe in maaaagic!
As this universe's Bubba is currently running around like a toddler on crack with Dandydoe, we outsourced him to crafty.
Mana mare!
Mana is the group brains and is often the one to point out flaws in plans or give sound advice, such as 'Don't put that in your mouth, you'll die' or 'Somebody get Conk down from that tree!' or even 'Eli, nobody can legally give you rocket roller skates'. She seemingly knows a little bit about any and every subject, ranging from anatomy and biology, to basic mechanical engineering and tinkering, and her favourite subject is chemistry. She tries not to be a spoilsport to her friends, though glaring safety risks cannot be ignored. Her friends have been seriously hurt before, and more stupid- *Ahem* I mean 'flawed'- ideas aren't going to help.
Being a unicorn, she has innate control over magic and spells, and she has almost got the hang a few basic spells (in this and my main critter head canon, anyone can learn magic, it just usually takes Centuries to become decently good. Unicorns are an exception. Their horns act as spiral focused conduits to channel their power through, making them idea magic users and the main ones who do in society). Her horn has only really just grown in though, so she is having a hard time at controlling her powers, and they often 'go wonky' or activate when she doesn't want them to. For instance, once she tried to conjure up a nightlight for one of Dandy's younger siblings, NOT FOR HER SHE DOESN'T NEED ONE, and she ended up somehow turning everything in her room burgundy, much to Dandy's chagrin. Or there was the time she got so upset that she got her first D+ on a test, She unconsciously started setting random things around her on fire. That was a fun day! She sometimes gets frustrated by the whole thing and has to take a step back to breathe, recuperate and tell herself 'It's normal. I am normal. Nobody will judge me'.
Ok mana, just breathe... In through the nose *YAWN* A-A-And out through the mouth... You'll get the hang of it eventually.
Yeah! And besides, you're already better than us at tons of stuff! Like trivia, or being a safety freak!
Dandy! Don't listen to her mana, it's very sweet you worry about us.
Didn't I say that?
She doesn't do everything with magic and tries to avoid unnecessary use (probably 'cause of the wonkiness), but still gets frustrated and saddened when she can't even do a basic spell and has to ask her parents for help. They have told her, it's normal for all unicorns of her age, and she'll grow into her powers, she is strong and resilient and so so so smart it wouldn't even matter if she never does magic again.
Speaking of, her family is a fairly unusual case among unicorns. Most unicorns are very wealthy, high and mighty, quintessential 'old money' types. They are usually the sorcerers and alchemists to kings and noble houses and are very rich and very powerful. Mana's accidentally squandered their wealth on booze and amateur acrobatics lessons generations before she was born, and were cast from upper society. They earn enough to get by but can never really rejoin the upper crust. Oh, they still get an invite every year to the infamous House Vergand Gala ball, but are often turned away at the gates with most the other 'disgrace' families. Some at the ball say seeing them trudge away, shoulders hunched in defeat, the little foals holding onto their parent's hooves is the highlight of the evening entertainment!
In hindsight, It's probably good that she grew up away from those freaks however. She's not snobbish. She doesn't believe she's superior to everyone. She has a thirst and passion for knowledge borne from her mother reading to her nightly and enjoys the company of others, trying to treat them as equals no matter how different they may be. And that, I would say, is something no amount of silver or emeralds could buy.
And now, upon thee a curse! A curse of poorly written trivia and character quirks!
She and her family speak 'the king's English', so a posh English accent, and tend to use flowery and expressive language compared to all the other critters. Despite this, half the time she doesn't know what the words actually mean, only when to say them.
Her favourite book is 'Charlie and the chocolate factory' because she can relate to the main character.
She has a twin brother named Harry HistoHorse. He's like her in every way, even down to his love of learning, but his subject of expertise is history. The only physical difference between the two is his horn spirals up and to the left, hers is up and to the right. They even swapped friend groups for a day and nobody noticed, aside from the fact Mana's voice was weirdly deeper that day and Harry kept talking about acids and potions or something like that.
She and Dandydoe have a competition to see who can solve the most murder mysteries before the detective figures it out. Currently, Dandy is winning 17-12.
She can list every amino acid, in order of complexity and base components, but never remembers any of her friends' birthdays and always asks whom is next.
Finally her charm is a crystal ball shaped to look like a lightbulb and her scent is lambs ear.
TL;DR she's essentially if bubba was poor and insecure about not being able to do magic

I love all your fics! And with @venus-haze newest Homelander headcannons where she gave us a sort of Lois Lane reader I was wondering how a Lana Lang could fit with her being the childhood sweetheart. And then it hit me... so could I request a fic of reader whose a comic writer/artist and whose latest project is the newest Homelander comic which centers on his trials and tribulations of being a kid in a small tow with superpowers, and it's promoted as being based off of Homelanders "genuine" childhood experiences, and a bit of pr thing so that he now has a whole "i was a kid like you once," sort of thing. But reader is told he's a busy man and can't take the time to tell her stories about his childhood so it's on her to create these stories. As a result she takes from her own childhood experiences and ends up creating a character based off of herself that serves as Kid Homelander's best friend. The comic follows the general format of Reader's character being a good-hearted rascally sort who gets into some sitcomy trouble every week and it's up to Kid Homelamder to save her from herself as he discovers his newfound powers and learning important lessons about being a good hero. Reader even uses her own name for the character because she uses a pen name for her work because she wants to make at least one thing authentic. The series is pretty successful and one day someone asks Homie if he still talks to reader and he just laughs it off and says of course. But this does make him curious about the series as a whole, and upon reading it he becomes obsessed with it and by extension reader when he finds out she's basing a lot of the story off of her own childhood and even put herself in the story.
At first reader is flattered he wants to meet her to congratulate her on the series especially now that there's talks of a cartoon series being tossed around. But then it gets a little unnerving when he starts saying stuff like "you remember when... *thing that happened in the comic*" and reader just thinks he's playing along especially since nobody else knows that she's making up the stories. And it becomes downright scary when he straight up starts grilling her over other stories of when she was a kid so she can help him 'remember' "the good ol' days" back in whateversville, and to him she now represents the childhood he wanted but was denied in favor of being a test subject.
Sorry if this was really long I just got excited over the premise 😅 but odk what do you think?
ohhh yes! battie's post, for reference. holy smokes, i think this is an INCREDIBLE fic premise! i'm obsessed with the last bit in particular. it fits in so well with Homelander's tendency to legitimize fiction as a coping mechanism, ESPECIALLY in his relationships. of course he would want them to feed even more into the fabrication, and like you said, help him reclaim something that was taken from him.
i'm also extremely into the gradual deterioration of excitement into discomfort and then mortification as it becomes clear that Homelander is Not Well, and now he's YOUR problem. what started as kind of a silly little media improv ploy has grown into a full blown delusion. one that should you fail to uphold, Homelander very well may snap.
of course he has to make sure he's educated on his own childhood bestie, so he's been stalking her and learning everything he needs to know, even details she never included in the comic. he even goes so far as to correct her when she uses the wrong details. imagine the horror of him just KNOWING things he shouldn't know! pulling real life details instead of those written into the comic.

🍧🙊 and 👑 for hanan too!!!! i love her so much...
oc asks!
Tumblr media
🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?
hanan doesn't have many belongings left from her past because she lost most of it after her family moved away and she hasn't reconnected with them. the few things she does still have- mostly old pictures, some plushies, old clothes and cds she burned herself- are stashed away in a box somewhere in her apartment. she doesn't want to look at it anymore because the memories that come with it hurt too much, but she would be very upset if she lost all of it; maybe one day if she manages to find her family back she will be able to open the box again
🙊 SPEAK-NO-EVIL - what is something your oc will refuse to stay quiet about?
hanan is very reserved and tends to stay in her own lane. she mostly jumps in on conversations if she overhears someone having trouble with something she can help with or has knowledge on; or if it's close friends and they're talking about one of her interests. other than that she's more of a listener and prefers to sit with others and listen to their conversations :)
👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?
hanan would want to be remembered for her efforts. at some point after being rescued from arasaka by cassidy and seb, she starts showing signs of cyberpsychosis due to the amount of cybernetics and implants arasaka forced upon her in project cobra. it scares her, and luckily she manages to recover and is doing much better nowadays but especially during that time she worried she would never be the same again
because of that, she wanted to be remembered for her efforts at arasaka to help the test subjects she was forced to train. she was always kind to them and offered them the comfort arasaka wouldn't give them to try and make things easier for them, knowing there was not much else she could do to try and get them out of there. it's why in this edit i compared hanan to charon; she's essentially guiding the test subjects to their death since most of them died during testing, but if death is almost inevitable anyway wouldn't it be nice to have a hand to hold on the way there?

Nesta on the Continent
8 Years After the War with Hybern
Tumblr media
Nesta Archeron stood panting on the side of the wide street. Her breath coming in small steamed puffs and her legs buzzing with energy from having half run, half winnowed across the city.
She stood nestled in the crowd waiting to cross, her black coat snug around her body as a rush of carriages flowed by. Some drawn by horses, some by reindeer and others by woolly unicorns.
It was the beginning of winter in Rask; one of the oldest and largest Fae territories on The Continent. The capital, Neva, had already turned white with a thick blanket of snow.
She could have winnowed across, had developed a habit of moving through the city in half jumps, but she intended to let herself be a little late. The only way to punish Dmitri was to test his patience.
It was his own fault for sending her to Stohl's lecture on the newest volume of The Philosophical Reality of Magic.
It was a class he shared with the Nordan crowd, a group of social and intellectual elites, who always opened and closed with long, barely meaningful discussions. And the Nordans liked Nesta almost as much as they liked to talk.
She might have been a little irritated she'd been forced to sit through their babbling if she hadn't become fascinated by the subject of the lecture.
Stohl's series had become a favourite once she grasped the more abstract concepts on how the lived experience of each species, territory and era distinguished what was considered magic from what was natural.
...It also happened to be a welcome distraction from the fact that winter meant Feyre's birthday was close...and that she hadn't spoken to her sisters in 5 years...
Finally, a loud whistle blew out and the carriages came to halt to allow the crowd to cross.
Nesta moved carefully past an elderly Fae with moth wings no longer strong enough to carry them above a slight hover. She slipped her hand from the pocket of her coat and, with a wordless curl of her fingers, seeped some of the age from their wings.
It was intrusive magic. Technically fell under the umbrella of the kind of thing they were attempting to regulate on a judicial scale.
Idiot, she could almost hear Dmitri's voice, just ask them if they want your help, no one is foolish enough to say no to a Shaman
Shaman. Sorceress. Witch
She had hated those names once, had regretted revealing her story to Dmitri the first time the words had left his lips.
“But you are magic,” he'd said, taking her to that first lecture on the reality of magic when she had insisted that all Fae are magic.
Nesta picked up speed with each step, unafraid of slipping in the ice having finally settled into her immortal bones around the third year she'd spent in Rask. The same year she started translating and transcribing in Dmitri's office above the Fat Cat Café.
He was, surprisingly, sitting at his desk when she arrived. The room was a familiar chaos, books and pamphlets on a hundred different subjects sat on a dozen different surfaces.
"You're late." He was attempting to remain stern but they both knew it wouldn't last.
She removed the scarf she'd worn on her head, sniffed the air and glared at him, "You've been smoking again."
"For good reason!"
"And I can't say the same about being late?" Nesta moved to open a window, "You understand that without the Nordan's we'd never have gotten the invite to Zurik's? Or got that merling lord to see to the case of mandatory heating magic for humans in Lapplund? If you keep skipping lectures, you're going to end up aliena-"
The words died in her mouth as she turned and almost collided with the half human, he held up 2 envelopes in each hand. It took Nesta a second to recognise the seals but her heart skipped a beat when she did.
Each letter held the insignia of a Court of Prythian - Summer, Day, Dawn and Night.
She reached for Dawn first. They had been her best hope. Nesta didn't scold Dmitri for having already opened it, he'd been working towards this for almost a decade before they met.
She could see Dmitri grin out of the corner of her eye, heard him quote, "We have received your letters and extend an invitation to further discuss your proposals."
She reached for Summer, where she'd had to include her estrangement from the Night Court. When she reached for Day, Dmitri added, "This one didn't invite us but someone named Helion says he looks forward to your return."
Finally came Night. The unease in Nesta hiked when she realised it had remained unopened. She wished Dmitri weren't such a good friend, that his face might have warned her about the contents of the letter.
Her hands were almost shaking when she finally ripped open the letter and unfolded the single page within.
To the office of Dmitri Petrov
We of the Court of Night have received your papers regarding the "Legal Regulations Regarding Magic; How it is Used For and Against Human Settlers in Fae Territories" as well as the letters crediting and recommending your work.
On behalf of my Court, and as a friend to Lord Osling of the Northern Sea, I must congratulate and commend your efforts to achieve harmony between Humans and Fae of all kind.
We look forward to further correspondence.
PS, it is my understanding that you have become the acquaintance of the Lady Nesta. No doubt it is she who has encouraged you to include Prythian in your work.
Please give her our regards and well wishes.
High Lord of the Night Court, Rhysand
Nesta handed the paper to Dmitri and took a shaky breath as she sunk into the leather chair nearest to the hearth.
She hadn't quite known what to expect, maybe Morrigan or Azriel if not Feyre...but this...his name alone...felt all the more deliberate
"...would be best, yes?"
She blinked, "Sorry, what?"
Dmitri moved to lean against his desk, arms crossed, "I was saying we should write back immediately, take the Summer Court up on their invitation and wait out the winter in a palace." His face softened, voice dropped a little, "You don't have to go back if you don't want to. Or if you do, you could stay in Summer. I'll take the Nordans with - it'll be enough to get back in their good books and they'll do all the royal ass kissing for us."
Nesta couldn't help the little laugh that escaped her. The man never missed an opportunity to take advantage of those with more than enough to spare. She knew Dmitri would visit Night and Day regardless of their lack of invitation, might even push his luck and try for Spring and Winter.
But this had become important to her too, it has saved her life, she smiled, "And what, let you ruin our one shot at diplomacy because you think tricking someone into drinking Faerie wine until they can't lie then interrogating them on their politics is the best way to get to know someone?"
"And it is, it worked with you didn't it?" He shrugged, "When I met you, you wouldn't even greet me. I thought you hated that I was half human. Now, I trust you with my life and more importantly, I trust you with my work."
She steeled herself against the ache in her heart, "Give me the ink. Then head home and shave. The Nordans have invited us to an exhibition at Zurik's. You'll be the one to tell them we're going to Prythian."

Wednesday, rather, Weems in Wednesday's body enters her-- the principal's quarters without ceremony.
“There is such a thing as knocking before you enter, did you know that?” Weems, or to be more precise, Wednesday trapped in the principal's body, says from her seat at the kitchen island,
“You're dating Enid!” Weems says, somewhat alarmed.
“Oh, you found out,” she doesn't seem the least bit bothered by the situation.
“I can't date a student? Especially not when that student is my daughter!” Weems tries not to scream, she doesn't want to run the risk of the walls hearing it, but keeping calm is becoming increasingly difficult.
“And you think I want to date my parents?” The disgust is perceptible in the teenager's adult voice. “Do you know how many messages my father has sent me-- sent you today alone?” The principal's phone vibrates tirelessly on the table. “I swear to the devil, if it's another one of his messages, I'm going to kill him and throw his body in a ditch where no one will be able to find it to bring him back.”
“He will keep sending messages until you answer,” Weems walks over to the island and picks up the phone. She types something quick and sends it. The phone vibrates twice more and then silence, Wednesday sighs in relief. “There, he'll leave you alone for a while.”
“Can't I just block him until all this is sorted out?” Wednesday throws the phone into one of the drawers, a deep hatred for the device bubbling up in her chest.
“And run the risk of Gomez showing up here and making a big deal out of it in front of the entire school?” Weems raises one of Wednesday's eyebrows in defiance.
“I hate you,” the teenager replies.
“Me? But I didn't do anything.”
“Of course you did, this is all your fault.”
“You're the one playing with a dangerous book and testing spells left and right!”
“It wasn't a dangerous book, it was a book from my family's personal library.”
“So, an extremely dangerous book.”
“And everything was going very well until you meddled where you shouldn't have.”
“Wednesday, you are my student, my stepdaughter and my daughter-in-law! I couldn't just let you stupidly dangerous things without stopping you!” Weems lets the words flow in the heat of the moment, without noticing what she is saying.
Wednesday stares at her in a way that doesn't match the blonde's face, she blinks twice and then throws the woman in her body a deadly stare, which makes Weems realize why her staff trembles at the base every time she looks at them like that. “Never repeat any of those words again,” warns Wednesday, “especially not together.”
“I regretted it as soon as the words came out of my mouth,” she admits, pulling herself together. “Wouldn't it be better if we talked to your mother?” Weems changes the subject.
“No!”
“Wednesday, she is the one who sent you this book, she must know how to resolve our situation.”
“I'm not going to crawl up my mother's skirt every time something goes wrong, I'll fix it, you just have to be patient.”
“I have patience, Wednesday, the question is whether you can have it. The day has barely started, and you've already made plans to kill your own father. What are you going to do when someone on the faculty says something you don't like or a student irritates you a little too much?”
“What I always do, threaten them with a knife and take pleasure with the fear in their eyes.”
“But you can't do that. I can't do that! If you go around threatening people, it will cost me my job, and I like my job!”
“Why?”
Weems takes a deep breath, this is a discussion for another time. “Wednesday, I just, please don't kill anyone in my body. Don't threaten anyone, don't draw any blood, can you do that?”
“I can try.”
“No, Wednesday, this is serious. You have to do this, do this minimum for me, or you will end up destroying my life and I know you don't like or care that much about me, but I am begging you, please.”
Wednesday is silent for a long time, Weems feels like she's going to scream. “I will not hurt or kill anyone while in possession of your body, however, I promise nothing about wanting revenge on anyone who has angered me once I have returned to my own body,” the girl informs her.
“Thank you,” Weems smiles lightly, and Wednesday grimaces.
“Don't do that, don't smile with my face, it's unsettling.”
“Yeah, it really doesn't feel right,” she agrees, the ghost of a smile still there. “I'd better go before Enid wakes up and finds me missing, I don't want to answer any questions. Speaking of Enid...”
“No.”
“What?”
“I'm not going to discuss my girlfriend with you.”
“But I need to know something. Do you hold hands? Do you hug? Do you snooze?”
“Do you really want to know about my relationship with your daughter?”
Weems frowns, “you're right, it's better not to bring it up. But I kind of actually need to know how you act with her in order not to arouse suspicion.”
Wednesday thinks for a few seconds before answering, “keep an acceptable distance, don't engage in unnecessary touching, do whatever she says, but don't give in to absurd things.”
“And what would be absurd things?”
“Wearing matching clothes, for example. The snoods are already bad enough, there is no need for more.”
“You two would look so adorable in matching outfits, oh, imagine if you borrowed one of her sweaters?” Weems has a wicked smile, which matches the teenager's features perfectly.
“Do this, and I'll tattoo my parents' name on your chest,” it's not a threat, it's a promise.
“All right, I take it back,” she laughs again. Weems' cell phone alarm goes off. “Well, I guess it's time for you to go get ready, principal.”
“And you too, student.” They exchange a last look, determined to do their best, or at least try hard. Weems nods before leaving, she is at the door when Wednesday says, “you are wrong, by the way.”
“About?”
“If I didn't like nor care about you, I wouldn't waste my time with you,” the teenager reveals. The woman just smiles before walking away.

since there are a lot of people creating theories about Anya's name, her backstory and discussing about chapter 90.1,I wanted to share my own opinion。◕‿◕。
tbh,I was surprised that Ania's name had all this time a meaning and it wasn't just a mix of Misha and Ashe from Endo's previous works kinda expected it though,I'm not sure why Endo was hiding it all the time, maybe because it was supposed to be a surprise..
I honestly think that Ania is a Russian name took from Anna,is she a reference of princess Anastasia?my own question leaded me to an imagination of her backstory,hehe(^^);
Ania was the princess of a royal family, they all were under serveillance, all the members conversations were encrypted in classic language so that the content couldn't be understood it wasn't the native language of the country by the way
Desmond was the one behind everything happening to the country and the royal family,he nuked/destroyed the country it's kind of confirmed that he's doing suspicious activities, right?,all the family were killed but Anya wasn't,instead those monsters kidnapped her and she became their new test subject for the Ostanian project apple subject 007

everyone in the lab treated her as a tool and forced her to study..
There was a scientist,he was cruel like all of them and for some sort of reason,he changed later on and became a kind person,he was the one who helped Anya escaping the lab,she will surely start a new happy life with a new family, well, after a short period, the little girl was adopted and returned to the orphanage 4 times, till one day a spy codenamed Twilight waku waku came searching for a 6 years old child, ends up adopting her to become a part of a fake family, the forgers for the sake of operation strix ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there is also a high possibility that there is a reason behind Anya's freedom...probably nobody helped her escape the cursed lab,the scientists just started a new experiment is her freedom itself, this experiment is designed to train her to become a skilled telepath naturally, so that they can kidnap their tool whenever they are ready to start the war
Melinda knows about her past herself, that's why she wants Anya and Damian to become closer because of some other hidden reasons idk myself..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and before I forget,here's some canon proofs supporting the princess theory;
Ania loves castles, she talked about servants in the first chapter,we even had a whole episode about her as a princess and her her papa saving her, most of the anime episode was an original though was it for a foreshadowing purpose from Endo himself?!
there's also several mentions about royality in the manga, for example in chapter 42,etc,etc..the lastest and the most important mention was in chapter 88,Melinda choosing specifically the royal top elite cakes as a gift for Anya wich Damian told her to buy,he didn't said for who exactly
Tumblr media
"they were cakes said to originally have been created by king Willy II,as a conciliatory gift for the queen of an enemy country"!!! this line alone raised a lot of suspicion inside me...so I had to do some search(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)I found out later on that King Willy and the queen from the enemy country are actually a reference of king Frederick the great and Empress Elizaveta!! probably I'm gonna make a thread talking about them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In addition to my proofs,we also had Anya comparing the Griffin wich is the symbol of the Desmonds and Chimera the possible symbol of her royal family and her dear friend who knows everything about her
Tumblr media
I'mma include the Authens since they are 100% getting involved in this arc and were introduced just before the chapter we got a new hints about Ania's past and the confirmation of her backstory arc
First of all,Sigmund Authen might be a reference of Sigmund Freud the founder of Psychoanalysis,is related to minds?!!mind reading powers in sxf universe??!?the theory of super powers and all this stuff might be proposed by him since he was a professor teaching in the berlint university is owned by the Desmond family, you can notice the letter "D" in the logo
Tumblr media
he is likely to be from Anya's same country,he's talking in Classical language most of the time, both Yor and Anya didn't understand most of what he said either Anya because the majority of what he was saying is complicated, unhearable and she didn't care
I think he is retired or perhaps not ,he seems that he loves Barbara sm and he definitely loves kids(◍•ᴗ•◍)
the important person this arc is either him or Barbara

Protagonist and antagonist
Are there moments of respect or admiration between them?
Thank you so much for the ask, @kaylinalexanderbooks!!!
I'll answer for Supernova Initiative, Of Starlight and Beasts, Song of Thorns, and Enchanted Illusions!
Supernova Initiative
One of the main antagonists of this story - especially in Jack Tithus' arc in the book - is a man known as The Director, whose real name is, as of yet in the story, unknown. He is responsible for the Junction's entire subdivision of sciences (which is a great deal) - to the public, he is considered an upstanding and philanthropic scientist who is incredibly respected by his peers. In reality, behind closed doors, he is a sadistic, immoral, and incredibly brutal man who is willing to commit atrocities - including numerous illegal experiments on human patients - in the name of what he calls "progress". Jack Tithus, the main protagonist of the story and an intergalactic thief, becomes trapped in the Director's schemes after he and his crew get arrested by the Junction in a heist gone wrong and ends up accepting to become one of the Director's test subjects in order to protect his younger sister from a facing a similar fate.
As an answer to the question: I don't think there are any moments of respect or admiration between them, at least none that are mutual. Jack very much resents, despises, and fears the Director and for a lot of good reasons. Meanwhile, I don't really think The Director is capable of feeling respect or compassion for another human being - he views people, especially his test subjects, as specimens to be studied, like animals in a zoo, and considers himself somehow superior to his fellow human beings. He is capable of feeling a certain sense of "curious admiration/fascination" but more in a sense like a bully holding a magnifying glass over a burning ant. He has a very twisted scientific mindset.
Of Starlight and Beasts
The main antagonist of this series is the Crimson Queen, a dark sorcerer and ruthless ruler who intends to conquer all the kingdoms in the continent and "snuff out the Light" in her neverending quest for revenge against the magic of the people responsible for the deaths of her husband and child centuries ago. The main protagonist of this story is Corah Stormryder, a brave knight-in-training from the capital city of Tirawen, who embarks on a quest to prevent the advance of the Crimson Queen's army and save the kingdom and everyone she loves.
Surprisingly, yes, there are moments of respect and admiration between them, especially after they get to know and understand each other a bit more. Meira, the Crimson Queen, is primarily a woman who has had her hopes and dreams destroyed by the people she trusted in one of the most brutal ways possible - the terrible deaths suffered by her husband and innocent child as a result of this. Corah also knows what it is like to be betrayed and abandoned, having been forced to face those feelings at a very young age when her mother walked out on Corah and her father. Both of them also know that there is something fundamentally wrong with the magic system of their world and that know that the truth has been terribly twisted to the benefit of the corrupt nobility. I think that, in a sense, they understand each other - Meira does see a bit of her younger, more naive self, in Corah's pursuit of valor, while Corah occasionally understands Meira's blind rage and grief, in some cases. But where they fundamentally diverge is that Meira has allowed herself to become so blinded by revenge and her wish to take down a corrupt system, that she is doing to countless others what was done to her centuries ago, meanwhile, Corah would never hurt someone innocent for the mistakes of another and is actively looking for a way to halt the system of lies their kingdom is built upon without losing herself or hurting others in the process.
Song of Thorns
This book has two main protagonists, Roselyn Lethia, a young village girl who discovers a corrupt scheme involving the nobility after her older brother goes missing, and Renn Atrius, a young dhampir who became a thief and is seeking a way to avenge the brutal murder of his father. The main antagonists of this story are most members of the Royal Family of Hyghsummit, who are almost cultish in their ways - especially when it comes to the practice of the elusive Sanguinex, or blood magic, which was a type of magical art that humans... weren't exactly supposed to be able to cast. Out of all these villains, the most important one, story-wise, is King Larkin of Hyghsummit, who is the head of the Royal family and a master of the Sanguinex arts. He is also quite possibly the villain who is most invested in hunting down the protagonists, and who really does not want to lose his current status quo.
No, I don't think this book has any moments like that. While King Larkin often gets "amused by the thrill of the hunt" when it comes to his pursuit of the main protagonists, he definitely does not respect them. He views them more as a petty nuisance that must be eliminated, two pebbles in his path to continue his family's legacy, and he will not have his wish denied. Meanwhile, Roselyn mostly fears the royals in the same amount she despises them - mostly, in her eyes, they are an evil that needs to be exposed and an obstacle in her path to saving her older brother, especially since the Royal family is behind his kidnapping. As for Renn, he holds a strong hatred towards human royalty - when he was five years old, Renn watched his father (an innocent young man who only wanted to find a way for vampires like them to live in peace) be brutally murdered by a vampire hunter who was friends with the human nobility. It's no surprise Renn hates human royals as much as he does. So, the King views them as a nuisance, and both of the protagonists have very personal reasons to hate the nobles - not a very good mix to create "respect and admiration" lmao.
Enchanted Illusions
The villains of this series are the members of the elusive Hemlock Society, who seek to banish Myths and cause a civil war between humans and magical creatures. The main protagonists of each POV in this story are Augustus & Harriet, Cailean & Agatha, Evangeline + Thaddeus & Ambrose.
Strangely, it depends. Some of the protagonists and antagonists in this book have very strong, personal grudges against each other and despise one another tremendously, but some of the more "morally grey" protagonists (such as Augustus and Thaddeus) enjoy the "cat and mouse" game they play with the villains throughout the story, and due to their sometimes more extreme way of handling things, sometimes even the villains feel a sense of admiration of these heroes' wit and occasional ruthlessness. The leader of the Hemlock Society, Abernathy Calsen, is very much a "Moriarty" type of evil mastermind, and often feels amusement out of toying with the main cast - he at the same time admires and despises them, but in a very distant, chess-player sort of way. He admires how they think outside of the box, and how they do everything in their power to thwart the plans he's set in motion, even when that's a foolish effort in his eyes. An interesting dynamic, to say the least.
