webcomic/indie comic from the 2010s. basically a sci-fi short story about a young girl (with red hair?) who was being raised by scientists as part of an experiment. she receives a haircut/has her head shaved, in preparation for her annual brain scan/testing. it is revealed that while her body is human, her "brain" is artificial, made of computer implants throughout her skull and spine. at some point her biological mother (also a scientist on the same campus?) encounters her and is repulsed, viewing her as a machine who has murdered her daughter.

The old hero looks out over the city. Landmarks stained with his blood are now polished clean and refaced. The wails of people in need ring in his head, a cacophony that drowns out the sweet morning silence that envelops the city.

The last few years have been a dog fight. He tastes pavement on his tongue and his eyes are hot with phantom swelling. His hands are cracked and warped into permanent fists, his knees weak from the strain of carrying every civilian out of the line of fire.

He’s lived through pure will alone for the last 37 months. Every tomorrow has been a closed door he has to beat in the moment he turns to face it. His biggest enemy became not the Villain but rather the encroaching sun through the half-closed blinds of his own bedroom.

Now…

He stares at the mask in his hands. The feel of the wind on his bare face makes him feel new. Vulnerable. Reborn. His hands curl around the fabric and he blinks back tears.

“Living becomes possible eventually,” he murmurs.

When he stands, he leaves his mask on the rooftop to blow away the next time the wind changes.

one thing that’ll always sadden me about qsmp lore wise is that we never got to see all the qfrench bombshell revelations take place . all their conflicting views coming to a final head . the number of conversations étoiles “fuck the federation”, baghera “i used to hate them but it’s all so much more grey now” and antoine “the federation are my friends” left taper off bc there was that unspoken undercurrent of ‘ermmm let’s just move past this and not get into it’ well what if they HAD gotten into it . what if the others finally found out about qbagz past as a fed experiment, and her fear of them blaming her for the plane crash . qayp/ayrobot’s whole fucking deal, that he’d been watched by the feds for years before getting taken . qantoine literally aiding the federation in their plans and experiments . what if huh

there's something so hot about toxic threesomes that we don't talk enough about.

infighting. jealousy. turning what could have been safe, sane, and consensual into a fruitless competition where no one wins and everyone hates themselves (and each other) a little bit more the next morning.

angry, spiteful sex; the invitee taking their insecurity/jealousy out on you, the object of their desire. the initiator preening under the hateful, greedy glare of the person who should be thanking them for the opportunity of being buried inside of you. gloating. instigating. riling each other up.

and you—ragdolled between two people who'd rather be fighting each other, spilling blood, than here, sharing you. and since they can't, they use you a vessel for their mutual contempt. turning fucking into a competitive sport with your body as the yardstick to measure their successive wins. being fought over but in a very mean, almost cruel way. forced to take whatever they want to use as a medium to secure imaginary points over the other with you as the trophy they get to keep. a spoil. a tchotchke when it's all said and done.

the entire time you're wishing you never said yes to this to begin with because it feels less like a novel experience and more like a war you were bullied into.

watching xianxia is so fun because usually when i'm halfway through a drama and i want to reblog things, i have to be really careful when going through the tag and not look too closely at anything to try not to accidentally spoil stuff that happens later

but when i watch a xianxia drama and go through the tag i'm totally fine even if i look at everything because absolutely none of it makes any goddamn sense out of context. like i find gifsets of the main characters getting married. in one they're getting married to other people and in another they're getting married to each other. twice. then i find gifsets of those same characters dying in five different ways. in one scene one is dying in the other’s arms. in the next scene they’re dying together. someone straight up disintegrates into glitter. and i still have no idea if any of them end up alive or dead or married or alone or what on earth happens at the end
