Sawyer huffed as she looked over formulas and figures, the graphite in her hand tapping an impatient spot into the paper where the dulled tip hit it. Even as she reached forwards for her cold tea (per the usual, she’d forgotten it was there while it was hot), she continued to glare down at the page, her brow set into a focused scowl.
Behind her, errant wings tapped at her shoulder—one, two, forcing her to pay attention to her posture in her chair as the other two skittered across the paper lightly and poked at the material samples that lay atop them.
Sawyer turned in her seat as the raen’s pointed nouliths folded neatly against her back, and the raen reached out to touch the page.
“Frustration and fury. No stranger to the Hawk, but poured into what, the oasis rarely knows.”
Sawyer hummed a note, answering in her comparatively unembellished fashion, “Modifications to those tools of yours. I’ve traded letters with some acquaintances in Sharlayan that were thrilled to see an original iteration of the concept and asked for schematics in exchange for…”
She paused, watching the way her partner’s hand felt aimlessly at the fibers of the page. She had tried to involve Amesha in as many steps of the design process as she knew how to, initially, having her try to attune herself to a great many different crystals and conduit metals, but the parchment-bound stage of design was always… rather one-sided.
She made an angry noise to herself at the injustice of it. As much as she tried to offer Amesha agency—asking what might better enable her rather than assuming, giving her a means to feel her way through a space rather than be led. "Unfettered by sight" as she so often described herself, and yet there were still realms that Amesha was kept from.
“...Hawk?” the raen called, the lengthy pause no doubt causing her worry as she reached out comfort Sawyer with a scaled hand that the hyur took and pressed to her cheek.
“Sorry, I was lost in thought for a moment. I… find it unfair that I’ve spent all this time designing these wings of yours and yet I’ve not included you in the design as much as I could. The wood models are serviceable, but only once I’ve gone through iterations upon iterations with little of your input.”
The raen’s head tilted, and though she smiled, she knew better than to placate. She’d learned well than to give Sawyer an empty reassurance when the hyur was set on the idea that something could be improved for her partner’s sake. Honestly, the hyur might have felt more strongly about it than even she did, but she knew Sawyer would argue back, “All the more reason to be a part of the solution.”
Sighing, the raen withdrew her hand and returned it to the page. “Would that quillstroke and letter could be writ into parchment like the river writes a canyon. Engraved upon page as it is engraved upon earth…” With this, her noulith tipped itself into the sheet, pressing a deep line into a corner of the page that nearly threatened to tear.
Sawyer sat up, at first ready to give the raen light admonishment, but quickly stopped herself at a realization. “...That’s less of a fantasy than you imply. I think you’ve quite possibly come up with the first step towards a solution all by yourself.” she mumbled, looking up and around her desk at the various materials there. “Just a moment.”
She leaned forwards to grab for a narrow metal rod, then grabbed for a blank sheet of parchment while she moved all others aside. The shuffle of paper followed by the quiet scraping of metal caused Amessha to wonder quietly what Sawyer was, presumably, sketching onto this new sheet.
“Now,” the hyur said, papers shuffling again. She pulled Amesha’s hand to the table and laid it gently across the parchment, where the raen explored with her fingertips delightedly. “What do you think I’ve drawn?”
Amesha made an unsure noise as she explored, but indeed, she did feel raised lines in the paper. Long, not quite straight, narrowing shapes that met a tight, rounded end. Many of them, fanned out and layered not unlike scales—
“A… bird’s wing?” Amesha questioned, and she could practically hear Sawyer beaming.
“Yes, exactly right,” she said, in that tone Amesha knew meant she’d be spending a while longer hunched over her work table. She was pulled in briefly, a kiss planted on the raen’s cheek before Sawyer excitedly mumbled. “I’ve got some additions to make to my schematics.”

7:00 PM
Both had finally arrived at the event as Roman had parked the car. The place was packed; so packed that Roman at first was struggling to find a parking spot for them for about ten minutes until he was able to find one near the building. Rhea gathered her phone and her handheld purse before she got out while they both went straight to the building.
“You think even the president himself could be here?”
“Highly doubt it, although we were told that we were speaking to important people, so who knows.”
“So what, you go to one half of the building, and I go to the other?”
“… yeah, sure, that works.”
“Hm. Say less.” Both then went to the entrance as a security guard was checking everyone in while going through a list as he noticed them.
“Good evening, we received the invite for this event.” Roman told the man as he gave him two envelopes. The security guard opened and read both envelopes before he gave a nod.
“I’ll be needing your IDs and if you could please sign these forms right here.” He then pulled out two forms and a pen for the two as both champions retrieved their IDs from their pocket. After signing the forms and while the security guard confirmed their identifications, he returned the IDs to them as well as retrieving the signed forms.
“You may now enter, there should be enough seats for both of you if you are interested in taking one now. If you have any questions or concerns, you may direct them to Nick Khan as he is present here today.”
“Great, thank you sir.” The security guard nodded at them before the two went inside. Looking around the large venue full of guests. Music could be heard amongst the talking from everyone, while a few waiters and waitresses were going around serving everyone champagne and any type of wine. Rhea had begun to look around first, passing by a waitress who had a plate filled with glasses of champagne as she took one glass and began to roam around the venue, leaving Roman aside while he also went to the other side of the venue. While she didn’t mind talking to strangers, she was somehow not quite sure where to start at first.
She looked around for a little bit, all the while she took a sip from her drink when someone approached her as she was immediately engaged in a conversation with said person regarding her career, introducing herself and whatnot as they asked her a bunch of questions. As she spoke to them, Rhea felt quite comfortable and started to settle in while she then shook hands with the person and bid farewell as they walked away. Afterwards, Rhea kept looking around, still finding some sort of conversation with someone else.
For a moment, she wished that the boys were there with her.
But at the same time, for some damn unknown reason, she wished Roman was the one walking around and talking with her instead.
She immediately discarded the thought before she suddenly turned and noticed there was a small bar in the venue. Noticing her glass was empty, she decided to go in for another drink.
Instead of ordering herself a champagne, she ordered herself a negroni as she stood and waited. As she did, she looked around the venue to see the cluster of guests talking, drinking, and even taking pictures. She thought nothing of it since this was a regular event. After all, this was only for work purposes too.
However, she would only think like that if only she didn’t see Roman at the far end of the bar.
At first she thought that he was only interacting with someone, until she discreetly took a closer look while the bartender served her drink. When she did, however, it then dawned on her.
He was fucking flirting with a blonde.
At that, she immediately looked away and focused on her drink instead. Normally she would only roll her eyes the same way she did last time when he winked at the receptionist back at the hotel. Although this time, she didn’t fucking know why, but it felt… different. And not in a good way.
No.
No way.
No fucking way.
There’s no way that she’s jealous. Hell no.
She was in complete and utter denial. She then took a deep breath as she took another sip from her drink and tried to focus. She wasn’t here for any other reason. She was only here for work. To represent the agency that she worked for. To show everyone who she was. End of story.
Nothing more, nothing less. Just. Work.
She simply sat there for a while until she finished with her drink and ordered another. This time, she walked away from the bar and went somewhere else within the venue to distract herself, unaware that the culprit who was flirting with the blonde woman from earlier had suddenly stopped speaking to her as he was now watching her every move.
Two hours had passed, and now, Rhea had already interacted with half of the guests. She finished speaking with a woman who was a part of another sportsfield as well as who was asked to also represent her agency before she walked back to the bar. She left her empty glass there before she decided to go for some water this time.
However, returning to the bar this time was a mistake. Again.
This time, Roman was still there, though he was already flirting with another woman.
At that, Rhea immediately looked away and suddenly snatched her glass of water before she even had time to process anything. She decided to walk up the stairs of the second floor of the venue where most people were walking around as well as talking. She finally made her way upstairs as she walked through the crowd of people until she had bumped into someone accidentally.
“Shoot, I apologize—“
“No, I should’ve looked—“ She looked up and apologized to whoever guest she bumped into. “I should’ve been looking.”
The person then paused before he looked at her and blinked. “Oh wait- you must be Rhea Ripley? Women’s World Champion in the WWE?”
Rhea was a bit taken back by this, until she suddenly assumed that this was yet again someone else interested in knowing more about her career and whatnot. “Yes, I am.”
“A pleasure to meet you!” The man said politely as he shook his hand with her. “I’m working with New York Times- would you mind me if I ask a couple of questions in regards to your career.”
“Well, absolutely, of course.”
“Perfect!”
As both of them were talking up on the second floor, Roman had been chatting with multiple people. However, he somehow lost sight of Rhea, and although he was still focused on the event, he began to grow slightly concerned, for some reason. He would’ve seen her talking with someone, or even with a group of people by now. But ever since he last saw her at the bat and left, he hasn’t seen her since then.
He interrupted his last conversation as he walked around with his own drink, pretending to just roam around, but at the same time trying to find at least a glimpse of Ripley. However, when he did, it was only when he looked up on the second floor.
Up there she was, along with another man, both of them talking and her smiling and chuckling while the other man did the same as well.
Normally, he wouldn’t think much of it, but…
For some reason, something in him said to walk upstairs as he did so. Walking up the stairs until he approached the two as he cleared his throat. “Good evening- am I interrupting something here?”
The man was the first one who turned to him as he perked up and smiled. “Oh! You must be Roman Reigns!” He extended his hand to him in a handshake. “I was just talking to Miss Ripley here about her accomplishments in the agency!”
“And you must be…?”
“I work with New York Times, sent here for a general interview for the next publication.” The man explained. He then clapped his hands together as he smiled and spoke. “Now, I was just finishing up my talk here with Miss Ripley, but if you don’t mind, would you be interested in answering a few questions about our Women’s World Champion here?”
“Oh, well, I wouldn’t like to interrupt here any further—“
“Oh no, Roman, it’s alright.” Rhea suddenly spoke as she turned to him with a smile. At that, he turned to look at her. He knew that someone, she was either annoyed with his presence alone here or she was actually amused at the fact that he thought that she was flirting with a man just now. “Go on, I don’t mind. I think I also answered enough questions here for the night. If you’ll both excuse me,” She then shook hands with the interviewer. “I must end it here, but it was a pleasure to meet you.”
“Well the pleasure is all mine, have a great evening!”
With that, Rhea walked away, but soon enough, her walk became fast as Roman watched her leave while he blinked. He wasn’t paying attention to anything that the interviewer was telling him as he watched her go downstairs and merge into the crowd.
Something felt off with her.
At this, Roman apologized to the male interviewer and told him he would return in a bit to answer his questions before he went downstairs in search of her. He looked around the crowd of people, ignoring the amount of people greeting him and even excusing himself as he tried to steer his way through the crowd before he was able to clear away from the venue and down a hallway.
And there she was, speed-walking down the hallway and away from the venue.
She wanted to be away from him and from everything.
However, this didn’t give no reason for him to just blatantly ignore her as he decided to follow her. He was even able to catch up to her as he trailed behind her. “Ripley, what was that back—“
“Reigns, I need to be fucking alone.” The last words were firm and loud enough for him to hear as she said it between her teeth.
“What- hey, wait up!”
“I said stop—“
She then stopped down the corridor to what seemed to look like a storage room, opening the door which was thankfully unlocked as she went in and attempted to close the door, but Roman was already going inside as she groaned in annoyance and walked away from him to the other side of the storage room.
“Jesus fucking Chr- just leave me alone.”
“I was only checking on you back there. Nothing more, nothing less.” Roman immediately told her while she only paced around the room, closing her eyes as she tried her best not to snap at him and keep whatever ounce of patience she had in her left.
“Yeah- sure you were, of course you were.” She mumbled in a sarcastic tone before she paused in her steps and looked at him. “Now try telling me that while looking at me straight in the eyes. Go on, say it.”
Roman looked at her for a few seconds as she also looked back at him. She then took a deep breath and rubbed the bridge of her nose, leaning against the wall as she tried to calm herself.
“… Roman. I’m being serious when I’m telling you to leave me alone. Please.”
“Was it something that I did—“
“YES, goddammit, it was!” She snapped, snapping her eyes open at him as she gave him a heated look. “From the moment we left the airport to when we got here- you’ve been suffocating me, even after I told you clearly that we can’t let anything else happen. And now, you’re giving me that damn look like I’m some sort of lost puppy. So for fuck’s sake, stop looking at me and leave me alone.” Rhea didn’t notice but tears had begun to run down her cheeks. She was finally letting all her pent up stress out.
The room went silent for a few seconds as Rhea took deep breaths until she noticed her own tears. She immediately wiped them, internally cursing at herself for crying as she was about to tell Roman to screw off again until he spoke.
“And do you think I want to look at you?”
“Oh for fuck’s sake—“ Rhea choked out as she ran her hands through her hair. “Just stop it—“
“No- no, you know what? Okay, since we’re finally snapping, I might as well, too.” Roman suddenly said, Rhea refusing to look at him as she turned her back away from him. But she could tell by the tone of his voice that he was just as stressed as she was. “You really don’t think I’d rather be looking at someone else other than you?”
‘Fuck no. Please, please don’t. Please don’t say it.’ Was all that Rhea could think as she closed her eyes and kept bracing herself.
“You really think I’m not bothered by the way your “Latino Heat” treats you? Because guess what Ripley, I am. It bothers me very much.” She heard him speak, thus still not willing to face him. “God- I would give anything to not feel a single thing when he’s around you, but here we are now.”
Once again, the room was silent. She exhaled deeply as she rubbed her face and willed herself to slowly face him. When she did, she looked at him.
Roman also gazed at her. Her eyes were slightly a bit red due to the crying from earlier, and God help him, if he hadn’t been the cause of her tears, he would’ve been the one wiping them away from her face.
“… so that’s why you were flirting with those two women earlier?”
“What the fu— Rhea, what the hell? I wasn’t—”
“No- no, don’t start backtracking now.” She interrupted him as she walked towards him this time. “You just said that you can’t stand the thought of me being with someone else, so that’s why you did all that, because you wanted to prove your point and you wanted to try to get something out of me, wasn’t it?”
“I’m not- I wasn’t—“ Roman had to will himself to not snap again as he took a deep breath and rubbed his face with his hands.
“Roman,” Rhea looked at him with a firm look. “Don’t backtrack.”
“Fine! Yes I did that on purpose,” he said looking down.
“Do you think this is some sort of game? Is it fun to play with my feelings, huh?”
“Rhea, that’s not-”
“Don’t interrupt me. You know what I've been going through. Trying to sort out my feelings, making things right with Dom, and here you come in, flirting with other women to make me jealous,” Rhea scoffed, “You’re unbelievable.”
“Rhea please, just let me explain,” Roman pleaded. Rhea stayed quiet, looking down, and Roman took that as an opportunity to speak. “I didn’t think this whole situation through alright? And for that I am truly sorry. My intentions weren’t to hurt you,” Roman walked up to Rhea and cupped her face, “I just wanted to make you realize that you have something for me too, and that I'm not just a fling but I realize now that that is not for me to decide.” More tears ran down Rhea’s cheeks but they were quickly wiped away by Roman.
“Roman, I can’t-,” Rhea’s voice cracked.
“Shh, I know. I’ll leave you alone.” Roman was inches away from the door until Rhea pulled him back.
“Don’t leave.”
“But I-” Rhea drew Roman into a soft kiss, her arms around his neck while his hands laid on her waist.
“Let’s get out of here?” Rhea nodded in response. They quickly said their goodbyes to the guests of the event before heading out to the hotel.
Tumblr media
“Fuck, that traffic took forever.” Rhea sighed in exasperation as they finally went back to their hotel room. “Almost made me fall asleep.”
“Well, I mean, if it wasn’t for you music…” Roman commented as he closed the door behind him while she snorted and took off her accessories.
“Come on, you know you like it.”
“Well, okay, I’ll admit, I am a fan of all types of music… except country. Don’t ask me why.”
At that, Rhea wanted to laugh but opted to snicker instead before she noticed the pillows on the bed. She looked at it for a split second before she began to take them away. At that, Roman arched an eyebrow.
“So we can share the bed now?”
“Shut up.” A pillow was sent right at him as he caught it on time and chuckled before he placed it aside while she smiled and rolled her eyes. After placing the pillows back in their place Rhea sat down on one edge of the bed. She slowly took off her heels, wincing at the pain from walking in them for hours. Roman took notice of that and walked towards where she was and knelt in front of her.
“What are you doing?” Rhea asked with a curious look.
“I’m gonna give you a massage. I can only imagine the pain your feet are going through right now.” She smiled at his genuine gesture. She watched him as he gently took her right foot in his hands and massaged it. Rhea tossed her head back in relief. She then realized this whole situation reminded her of the second time they ever hooked up.
“Don’t you get deja vu, Roman?” Roman chuckled when he realized what she was referring to.
“I do.” He smiled.
Tumblr media
It was the night of Smackdown a week after Roman returned. He had a promo with the Judgement Day as he was announcing not only his contract signing with LA Knight for the Universal Championship Match at Crown Jewel, but as well as his and the Bloodline’s official affiliation with the Judgement Day. Ever since they assisted with Roman last Friday, rumors have been going around about how Roman was the one that authorized the deal between the Bloodline and the Judgement Day and now, it was officially confirmed by himself, especially after how everyone saw when he and Rhea shook hands in front of everyone in the crowd.
However, that moment was interrupted when Bobby, along with the Street Profits, suddenly interrupted their promo, with Bobby starting to run his mouth about how they’re taking way too much control and how both factions needed to be reminded of who truly ran all of WWE. In the middle of that talk, he even announced the return of a certain superstar as well as the newest member of the Street Profits: Bianca Belair.
The second she came out was when the crowd instantly went wild. She stood within the Street Profits when Bobby suddenly began to talk about how he would be interested in seeing Rhea and Bianca face off against each other for a title match. However, Rhea reminded them that her title was not going to be taken away that night and that if Bianca truly wanted a shot at it, then she would have to wait until after Crown Jewel after she eradicated the four women who were involved in that match.
It was then that at that point, Bobby came out with a proposition: a mixed tag team match with him and Bianca against Rhea and another male wrestler. The only issue was that A, Finn and Damian were to defend their tag titles that same night against Pretty Deadly, so neither of them could help Rhea in the match, and B, Dominik was out injured for a little bit because of Frazer and could not wrestle until in a few weeks.
Bobby was about to call off the suggestion until Roman suddenly volunteered to be Rhea’s tag team partner. Which shocked the entire arena, but also made Damian, Finn, Jimmy, and even Paul more than happy with the idea of two of the most dominant champions against Bobby and Bianca, especially with the fact that this match was going to be before the tag team match of Finn and Damian VS Pretty Deadly.
So the match was now official and so, Rhea and Roman fought against Bobby and Bianca.
Had it not been for Roman spearing Bobby on time for trying to avoid Rhea from pinning Bianca and before he could even break the count, both of them would have lost that night.
But there they stood as winners, right next to each other as the referee raised their arms up.
“Here are your winners… Rhea Ripley and Roman Reigns!”
The crowd cheered as Rhea couldn’t help but smirk victoriously despite the screaming pain in her right ankle as well as her exhaustion. She gave a side glance to Roman, who also smirked back at her as a sign of approval and even mouthed a ‘Not bad, Ripley. Not bad,’ to her.
Paul stood by the corner of the ring as he also congratulated both champions while holding their titles, all the while they got out of the ring when Rhea suddenly began to limp.
This immediately caught Paul’s attention first as he perked up and called for a medic the second they went off-camera for commercial break. She was going to protest that she was fine until her ankle was checked. It was deemed to be injured due to Bianca tossing Rhea over the ring by using her finisher and her ankle colliding against the steel stairs. But regardless, she didn’t pay attention to the pain at that moment and focused on eradicating Bianca throughout the entirety of the match.
They won, but at the cost of her injuring her ankle.
She was only able to make it backstage with a help from Roman, letting her place an arm around his shoulders for support while he placed an arm around her waist, helping her walk backstage and into the medical room as her ankle was checked. Finn, Damian, Jimmy, and Solo even heard about what happened as they all went to see if she was alright.
“She’ll be fine.” One of the medics said after verifying her ankle. “It was just a minor injury, although it should be healed in the next three days or so she should get some rest, put some ice on it, and some icy-hot. Which should only be applied three times a day.”
“Well, Rips, you heard him.” Damian patted her shoulder. “Gotta rest up.”
“Y’all killed that match though!” Jimmy commented as he had a huge grin on his face. “Uce and Ripley, delivering the most deadly matches of all matches?! Y’all really taught those Street Profits a lesson too. Damn!”
Rhea couldn’t help but chuckle as the others did the same. After a while, she was helped back to the locker room as the others also followed while she laid on the couch.
“See? Told you it wasn’t a bad idea teaming up with him.” Damian told Rhea as he gestured at Roman. “You teaming up with this guy right here? It delivers a statement to everyone here in WWE.” He then turned to Roman and extended his hand to him. “I appreciate you for having her back out there, man. She needed it.”
Roman only smiled, wiping off the sweat from his forehead with a towel while he shook hands with Priest. “Don’t mention it. You guys had my back, now I’m having yours. It’s the way things should be.”
“I knew you weren't gonna be disappointed with this plan!” Jimmy told him as he patted Roman’s shoulder. “I can already see it: The Judgement Day and the Bloodline taking over all of WWE in every single place, every single time, every single day.”
“As we should.” Finn chuckled.
“Alright, It’s time for us to win our match now,” said Damian, gathering his own tag belts while Finn also did the same.
“You need us in your corner? You know, just in case shit goes down?” Jimmy asked as he pointed at himself and Solo.
“Nah, we should be fine, but thank you.”
“Maybe we could have Paul in our corner though? You know just for him to witness the match?” Finn suggested as Paul perked up at this.
“Oh- well, I’d love to, just- is that okay with you, my Tribal Chief?”
“By all means- I don’t mind.” Roman said as he smiled and nodded. Jimmy couldn’t help but pat both Finn and Damian’s shoulder as he chuckled.
“You guys are gonna have Paul represent y’all, this match is gonna be lit!”
The small group laughed as Damian and Finn began to prepare themselves. “Good luck out there, boys. Show them what you got.” Rhea told them as she pumped her fist with both Damian and Finn’s.
“We got this. See you in a bit, sis. And rest up.”
With that, both males left the locker room with Paul following them behind. It was only Rhea, Roman, Solo, and Jimmy in the locker room as they chatted for a bit while watching Damian and Finn’s entrance from the TV until Jimmy stood.
“You know, I might wanna watch from catering, I’m kinda hungry here.” He commented as he went up to the door. “Y’all want anything? Water, snacks, anything?”
“Oh no, I’m fine, no worries.”
“I’m good.”
“Alright. Solo, wanna come?”
His brother nodded as he went and followed Jimmy out from the locker room. This time, it was only Rhea and Roman who both stayed and began to watch the match. Rhea rested up at one side of the couch while Roman simply sat on the other side.
“Still hurts?” Roman asked as he noticed the ice pack that Rhea got in her hand while Rhea laid her leg on the couch, wincing as she placed the ice pack on her injured ankle.
“Just a bit.” She only said as she tried to lay down comfortably on the couch. “Belair almost took my ankle out.”
“You managed to get out of that lock though. I’m impressed by the way you did it.”
“Please. Don’t act all nice now.” Rhea scoffed and rolled her eyes while Roman couldn’t help but chuckle.
“What? I’m telling the truth.” He told her while she only gave him a look, trying to bear with her injured ankle. “Worst thing that could’ve happened is us losing and you being more injured.”
“Well, it didn’t happen, so once again, you’re welcome.” Rhea said as she reached for the icy-hot cream that was sitting on the table nearby and opened the cap. She removed the ice bag from her ankle before sitting up a bit.
“Here, want me to help?”
“I got it, no worries.” Rhea reassured him.
“Hey, you know I owe you one after the match. Who knows when it’s gonna be the next time I return a favor to you.”
At that, Rhea paused as she looked at him and gave him a questioning look. After a while, she looked at the bottle in her hand before she gave it to him. Roman sat up from his place before he went to her side and took the bottle, propping her leg up carefully to his lap before he opened the bottle and applied some cream on his hand.
“Though I’ll say, I’m sorry about earlier.” He told her, beginning to rub the cream on her injured ankle. “I should’ve asked if you were okay with me helping you beat Bobby and Bianca.”
Rhea hummed, leaning her back comfortably as she allowed the other champion to rub the lotion on her ankle while he also gave a small massage to it. She leaned her head to the side as she tried to suppress the slight pain coming from it which Roman noticed.
“Does it hurt? Let me know if I need to go slower.”
“No, it’s okay. Just… keep going.” She mumbled as Roman did what he was told. After a while, he finished, going to the bathroom to wash his hands before he returned minutes after to find Rhea placing the pack of ice back on her ankle. “Feels better now?”
“Yeah. It does.” She nodded, before she shifted on the couch slightly as a smile formed on her lips. “Though I never knew you were good at giving a massage, Reigns.”
Roman snorted at that, sitting down on the couch as he gave her a look. “Is that the only thing you think I’m good at?”
“And so what if I think so?”
“Well, not to brag, but I’m good at many things.”
At that, Rhea arched an eyebrow. “Are you seriously flirting with me?”
“And what if I am? We’re gonna act as if nothing happened a week ago? Hm?” Roman asked her as he crossed his arms and looked at her.
“Didn’t we agree to not go on with this any further?” Rhea asked him, crossing her arms while still leaning on the couch while Roman gave her a look.
“Well, if I’m recalling correctly, you did, but I sure as hell didn’t.”
Rhea wanted to roll her eyes at this. “Last time was a mistake, and you know that.”
“Damn, so I’m no longer acknowledged by you, Ripley? That hurts.” Roman feigned to be hurt by her words as he placed a hand to his chest. “That means I can’t acknowledge you anymore.”
She gazed at him, her demeanor from before slowly dropping as she sat up straight this time despite her injured ankle. “I don’t think you understood what I said last time, so let me speak in your language this time.” She began to speak sternly. “I’m drawing a line. The line is drawn, and you cannot cross it. Understood?”
At that, Roman looked down at the floor as he seemed to contemplate on her words for a few minutes while tapping the side of the couch. “… so about this line…” He began as he turned to face her again. “Is it an imaginary line, or do I have to draw it for you?”
He attempted to hold back a grin of his own when he saw Rhea look at him firmly. There was something about her that made Roman amused more than anything- and it was how easily he could make her annoyed.
“You’re very irritating, you know that right?”
“And here I thought things were going well between us.”
“Reigns.”
“That’s my second name, don’t wear it out.” He then perked up as he made a face. “Matter of fact, no one has ever called me just by my second name before.”
“Okay, and?”
“Okay— alright, let me stop annoying you.” He then went and grabbed himself a bottle of water before he also gave Rhea one as he sat back down beside her.
“But… question- and this is just out of curiosity, not because of any other reason.” He began as he placed his water on the table. “On a scale of one through ten—“
“—how would I rate our sex from last week?” She asked him with an arched brow.
“Damn, you won’t even let me finish my question?”
“Because I can already tell whatever shit you’re about to ask next. That’s why.”
“And what if I didn’t ask that? What if I asked you about our match against Bianca and Bobby, hm?”
Rhea rolled her eyes at this as her and Roman began to watch the match from the TV. After a minute or so, Rhea suddenly spoke.
“Six.”
At that, Roman scoffed. “A six? Really?” He turned his head away from the TV to her. “What, you think your Dom Dom can do any better?”
“… Hm.” She only said as she looked down at her nails. “I don’t think he can, Roman. But I know damn well he can.”
“Pft. Please. I’m not buying that. Hell, I highly doubt he even pleases you at a—“ He suddenly felt a harsh kick on his side as he yelped in pain, Rhea being the source of it as she had kicked him with her good foot as she glared at him.
“Go ahead. Finish that sentence, see how that goes for you.”
“Sheesh, sorry—“
“Sorry, can’t take the apology. We’re closed until further notice.” She simply replied back, leaning more comfortably on the couch as she faced him. “… although, I might reconsider taking that apology.”
“If…?”
“… if you prove me wrong. Which I know you won’t, by the way.”
“Well, as long as I get a higher rating than a six.”
“In your dreams.”
Tumblr media
It was already five minutes after the match ended. Finn and Damian stood victorious in the ring with their tag belts as they were able to retain while Paul left backstage, grinning proudly as he was going to check on the others for their reactions about the match. He suggested Finn and Damian to catch up at catering later along with Jimmy and Solo who were still there while he decided to go and find his Tribal Chief and the Eradicator back in their locker room. He couldn’t wait to see Roman’s reaction to them retaining. If anything, with both champions winning tonight as well as Finn and Damian, this will certainly deliver a message to everyone in the agency.
He spoke with a few people until he went all the way back to the locker room. He didn’t even think about knocking as he was always allowed inside the Bloodline’s room no matter what. He grabbed the doorknob and turned it before he went in.
“My Tribal Chief! Miss Ripley! Did you both see—“
He was suddenly interrupted at the sight of him as he froze where he stood. There on the couch, Roman simply sat, naked, with a naked Rhea on his lap as she was riding him.
He didn’t even have time to process everything when both noticed his presence and immediately, Roman shielded Rhea away from Paul while pulling her off from his lap while also pulling her to his frame as she was naked and had nothing to cover herself with. “PAUL— GET OUT—“
That was when Paul was able to recover just in time as he scurried out from the locker room and closed the door behind him. For a while, he heard some shuffling and other noises coming from the locker room as well as their voices- more than likely arguing- until it began to calm down suddenly. The image was still fresh in his head as he looked like he just saw a ghost.
Roman Reigns. He was sleeping with Rhea Ripley.
Roman Reigns, his Tribal Chief- was having an AFFAIR with the Women’s World Champion. Who was taken by Rey Mysterio’s son.
He suddenly gulped, trying to wrap the fact around his head as he simply stood there in front of the door until he heard it open. Yelping, he took a step back as he saw Roman walk out of the room, now completely dressed with two carry-on bags clinging from one arm- one being his and the other being Rhea’s- while he wore his title around his waist. All the while Rhea also followed him- completely dressed as well- her title also wrapped around her waist while she was supporting her good leg with a crutch due to her injured ankle.
Paul gulped, looking up at Roman. Then at Rhea. If looks could kill, Paul would definitely be dead not only once, but twice.
“I swear, I didn’t see anything, my Tribal Chief— and— and, I humbly apologize Miss Ripley, I—“
“See what?” Roman suddenly interrupted as he looked down on him with a questioning look. “You simply only saw me and Rhea talking about the match, didn’t you?”
“I…” Paul immediately caught on to what Roman was saying. He wanted him to be completely silent about this. To not even utter a single word from his mouth about what he just saw. Roman was firmly counting on his trust, especially right now.
However, this only made Paul concerned and for many reasons, but he decided not to voice them right then and there.
“I… yes, yes, you both were.” He quickly said as he cleared his throat. “And- speaking of which- Finn and Damian’s match went really well, they retained, and they’re now at catering with Jimmy and Solo as we speak and—“
“Good. We’ll meet them there. We’re just about to leave now, actually.” Roman said as he looked at the time on his watch. “Let’s go.”
He then began to walk away as Paul watched him and Rhea was about to follow when she paused and gave Paul a look. Once again, Paul gulped.
“I… I swear I won’t say a word.”
“Good. I trust you won’t.” She simply told him as she looked him in the eye before she began to leave.
Paul took a deep breath and tried to calm himself while rubbing his face before he went to follow the two to catering. He mentally prayed that this wouldn’t affect his Tribal Chief in the long run.
— End Flashback
“I’m not gonna lie, it was kind of funny when Paul walked in on us that day.” Roman commented as he got out of the shower, now completely washed and wearing a simple pair of gray sweatpants and a shirt while Rhea dried her damp hair before she turned and looked at him.
“You’re joking.” She blurted out. “Roman, I was naked.”
“Yeah, but he didn’t see you, still, I made sure of that, remember?” He commented as he laid down on one side of the bed and grabbed the remote for the TV as he turned it on.
“Yeah well… we also made sure he didn’t tell anyone.” She told him as she finished drying her hair, placing the towel back inside the bathroom before she closed the door. Roman then looked at the time on his watch as he placed it on the table lamp. It was already almost midnight, and while they had a place be present tomorrow afternoon, he still didn’t feel that sleepy.
He then felt the bed shift as Rhea laid down on the other side of the bed. At that he placed an arm around her shoulders and pulled her to his frame while he began to switch channels on the TV, all the while Rhea allowed him to welcome her in his embrace as she placed an arm around his waist and her head on his chest.
“You watch Station 19?” She asked him in a low tone. “Boring.”
“Well, sorry I’m not that much of a fan of horror… well, only a bit, but still.”
At that, Rhea looked up at him. “So you get easily creeped out by horror stuff?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“But you would still rather choose to watch a TV show over a badass horror movie. Gotcha.”
“Since when you’re good at reading people?” Roman said in a joking manner while Rhea rolled her eyes.
“So now you know me.”
“Well, I mean… it wouldn't hurt to start now.” He suddenly commented as he looked down at her. At that, she looked up at him. “Is that a good or bad thing?”
“We can talk about that later at some point… I’m really tired.” Rhea mumbled as she leaned against his frame and hugged him closer. Roman decided to switch the TV off as he pulled the covers on them while he also adjusted himself. The two of them soon drifted off to sleep in each other's arms

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Alright, let's get started!"
The gymnasium was finally set up for the game. You stood around sugawara, just because you fully trust being safe with the Setter.
But, that doesn't mean his human friends didn't bother you though.
The orange haired human signed all kinds of questions to you, which made you sort of overwhelmed because you didn't know any of them.
But, you also met another really nice human. You think he signed you his name, Ennoshita? Either way, he was super kind like Sugawara, and seemed to keep the Shaved human in check.
Speaking of which.
Tanaka, believe it or not has kept his distance from you.
He wanted to make a good impression out of himself, and not go in your face all the time.
But, sometimes he can't help himself since he wants to see you're cute, pretty face most of the time.
Don't get me wrong, Kiyoko is still in his heart, but something about you makes his heart all mushy inside.
It was weird.
Kageyama on the other hand, he just kept giving you small looks from the court, eyeing you from time to time.
Something about you patting his head made him concerned, and question why would a complete, yet utter stranger do that?
What also is running through his mind is, why aren't you scared of him?
Many people in his past were always scared of him, but, you seem to take a liking to the other setter.
His but was on the gym floor, ignoring Hinata's question as he stretch his poor aching body, getting ready for the match.
Tsukki was beside Daichi, who held a blank face as he also glared at you from time to time.
His golden eyes watch you beside Suga, a bright, caring smile plastering onto your face as you patted both Kiyoko and Suga's head.
It irritated him that your deaf, but still could defend yourself. An annoying street rat, having herself wrapped around everyone's fingers just to get what she wanted.
That little replay of you jumping incredible high never left his mind, angered with the X you made with your hands towards him.
Just looking at you made him irritated, but also made his heart....
He sighed.
Never mind, she's just a street rat anyway.
Yamaguchi appeared beside him, who was apparently eating a protein bar as he began to listen to what Daichi has to say.
Daichi pointed to Tsukishima. "I'll play on Tsukishima's team, to make it three-on-three." He announced, suddenly making Hinata stand straight up.
"Huh?! Is that fair though?!" He suddenly asked, making the leader chuckle.
"Don't worry, Hinata, of course it is. Tanaka's got a lot more attack power than me." He explained, catching the bald human's attention, whose face seemed to be a lot more severe than before.
"I won't go easy on you though." He confessed, making Tanaka growl slightly with annoyance.
You seem to feel Tanaka's Vibrations, your (E/c) eyes suddenly looking his was as you could tell he was slightly nervous.
"Well, ahem." Tsukki then faced Daichi, who then looked at the slightly tall bean pole.
"The buzz cut or the shorty, Who to crush....I mean, challenge first?" He teasingly asked, making the freckled human beside to suddenly freak out.
Sugawara looked in that direction, seeing how there is already drama for the team. Taking a sigh, he went back to chatting with you and Kiyoko.
Hinata Suddenly froze, his body instantly turning around as his face held a shock, angry look towards him.
Tanaka seemed to have heard it also, as his ear began to grow out slightly, listening in to the  conversation.
"Tsukki! Be careful! They can hear you y'know-"
"Shut up Yamaguchi." Tsukishima replied, looking at his friend annoyingly.
"G-Gomen! Tsukki!" He bowed, making the beanpole began to smirk again.
"So hard to choose...but I do know I'd like to save His Highness for last" He finished, suddenly making Kageyama shake a little.
Daichi smiled a bit, a nervous chuckle soon escaping his mouth. "You're a talkative one aren't ya?"
You're ears heard the bean poles harsh Vibrations, you fist suddenly clenching into a ball a you and Suga watched the scene going on.
His comments suddenly made the team tenser, your eyes obviously knowing that their more scared now.
So, you decided to help as you tapped on Sugawara's shoulder.
"Well, Well!" Tanaka spoke up, his body starting to walk weirdly as we could see you signing to Sugawara behind.
"Didja hear that, you guys? They're talking trash now....That jerk had better..just..steppp ooooofff!" He explained, his face soon suddenly turning into an angered state.
Turning around, a dark aroma formed around the three, Tanaka's sharp looking teeth soon came into view.
He started to growl as Shoyo was now looking to the floor. "Or he's dead meat!" He finished, Shoyo soon looking up as his tongue started to stick out. "BLEHHHHHH!!"
But, soon Tanaka's angry face soon ended when he felt a hand on top of his head, rubbing it to calm him down. Freezing, his body instantly turned around to meet you, who held a very cute smile onto your face.
His heart was pumping as his eyes started to form hearts again. "G-Guys! S-She's s-so cute!" He got out, his whole body shaking with nervousness and stuttering.
As the shaved human started to back up slowly, Hinata instantly stood in front of you as he began to sign drastically, which made you slightly jump a bit.
'Y/N-SAN!! ARE YOU PLAYING WITH US!??!!' He asked, causing your face to suddenly turn into a nervous look.
'Why is he so loud even in sign-language?' you thought, feeling slightly bad for the Black-haired human.
You're head tilted while looking at him, as the small finally calmed down, you felt a hand onto your shoulder.
"BOKE HINATA BOKE!" As you're body was gently moved, you vision only Viewed a human's back, which was covered with a soft looking sweater.
"You can't just ask people that Dumbass! What if she doesn't even know what Volley ball is-"
Kageyama's statement was soon interrupted with your hand on top of his head, your soft fingers rubbing his soft hair as the setter froze again.
His words soon became stumbled, while his cheeks started to turn pink in front of hinata.
Kiyoko and Suga just laughed from your actions, already knowing that you're going to get along with everyone just fine.
Well, at least some of them.
Hinata's head tilted, seeing how Kageyama looked different.
"Hey Kageyama, are you blushing?" He instantly asked, who made Kageyama's face turn angry quickly.
"O-OF COURSE NOT! DON'T BE A DUMBASS!"
As the two kept bickering back and forth, you're head tilted from their fighting state, wondering why they are acting this way to each other.
That, and the volume of their vibrations were irritating your ears a bit.
Turning to the shaved human, you tapped his shoulder as his head instantly whipped in your direction.
'Are these two usually like this?' You asked, causing him to instantly burst out with laughter.
He was clutching his stomach, you're head tilting in confusion with his laughing state.
As he finally controlled himself, he whipped falling tears from his cheeks as he looked to you again.
'Those dudes fight twenty-four Seven! They played against each other on their last middle school game!' He explained, causing your gaze to look back to them.
'Middle school? What's that...?' you thought, feeling more confused than you were before.
Not wanting to ask further, your face soon formed a cute smile as you looked his way again, soon your feet began to walk towards hinata, who was still bickering with Kageyama.
"Hmmmmm-hmmm." you hummed out, causing tanaka's eyes to sparkle again.
'SHE'S SO CUTE I CAN'T-'
"Alright everyone!" Daichi spoke up, soon getting the attention of everyone, except you who was now rubbing the top of Hinata's head.
The orangettes stomach started to flutter, now becoming even more nervous the more you rub his head.
Sugawara smiled at the sight of you getting along with everyone, already feeling like a proud mom, even though he brought you in last night.
As the captain smiled, his hand soon formed a fist which suddenly went in the air.
'Let the game begin!'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"HYAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!" Tanaka screamed a battle cry as his full body jumped through the air.
His face was full focused, his hand was back ready to hit the colorful ball as it flew in the air.
You were standing by Sugawara, as his face didn't seemed impressed, since he'd played with Tanaka the past two years.
Tsukki jumped up to block it, but he didn't make it as tanaka's hand hit with full force, the ball zooming down hard onto the floor.
You're eyebrows rose on how much power the bald human has. Such force, such accuracy, and....so loud.
Suddenly, you're shoulders started to slump, a shaky aroama forming around you as Ennoshita's eyes widened at you.
You barely saw the ball move, as you're eyes landing on it already onto the floor.
His power scares you, making you fleet slightly fearful of the bald human, that's until he gave you a handsome smirk, the scariness instantly left you're mind.
Hinata though it was very cool as his face light up, amazed on how cool Tanaka is.
"YEAHHHH!!!!!!!" Tanaka screamed, instantly pulling his shirt over his head as he waved his shirt around in the air.
You're cheeks rose with how fit he is, the way the window light shined upon his smooth looking skin, his six pack immediately in your eyes sight.
It really didn't bother you that his shirt was off, since Tanjiro and his other male friends take their shirts off all the time.
But, something about how fit this human was made you're heart race, causing Suga to look in your direction.
He saw smoke coming out of your ears, you're face turning instantly read as you body accidently leaned into Kiyoko, who suddenly caught you.
As tanaka kept waving the cloth around, Sugawara grew jealous by the way your acting towards it.
So, he decided to help you out.
"KEEP YOUR SHIRT ON!" He yelled, causing his other friends to nod in agreement.
"Yeah, calm down! A girl is here you know!
"Nobody wants to see that!"
Daichi smiled towards tanaka, feeling kind of embarrassed as Tsukki glared at him, annoyed with the human already.
"This is what happens when you get Tanaka too worked up...." The captain confessed, as Tsukki just glared at them more, but soon his head moved to look at you, seeing your body onto Kiyoko's as a visible blush was onto your face.
All he could do was look away, annoyed from how your blushing at a dumb wad.
"Tch." is all he said as he got ready for the next play of the game.
The whistle blows again as Daichi served, making the ball successfully go to the net.
Tanaka had his shirt back on as his knees bent, his arms receiving the ball as it went high in the air.
The ball flew to Kageyama, who's face was very calm as he set the ball into the air. "Hinata!" He yelled, as the Orange human was already running at a very fast speed.
You're eyes followed the boy, seeing how an excited smile was plastering his face.
As his feet stop, his knees bended as you saw his feet instantly left the ground, his body soon flying high into the air.
Everyone's eyes widened, impressed with his height as you blushed a little at that too, but it was easily hidden with your excited looking face.
As his hand forcefully hit the ball, it didn't get very far as the loud smack of a wall hit his ears.
Tsukki managed to block his spike, as the bean pole looked down at him teasingly, like he was digging into the human's sole.
Hinata was surprised, his face looking at the gym floor as his hair blew as he was floating back down.
You're eyes noticed them both landing back down, Tsukki's form towering over Hinata, a dark, scary aroama forming around the french fry.
Gulping, you're fist suddenly clenched as an annoyance grew inside your heart.
"You took me by surprise before.....You have a really nice jump there." Tsukki spoke up, his eyes soon meeting Hinata's.
A smirk grew onto his face, as he then turned around. "Now if only you were about a foot taller, you'd be a real superstar. Better start taking your vitamins." He teased, the feeling of Keis annoying Vibrations were felt through your ears, making your form start to shake with anger.
"WHATEVER!" Hinata's Voice spoke up, your ears picking his sudden Vibrations.
You're eyes landed on him, seeing how his face suddenly changed to a more serious look.
"ONE MORE!" He yelled, causing your heart to suddenly beat faster.
'This human is surely confident.....' you thought, not taking your eyes off of him at all.
But, the orange human's cocky state seemed to get the best of him.
It was 4 to 6, Tsukki's team in the lead as the beanpole kept blocking him.
It was hard for you to watch as you felt bad for Hinata and Kageyama.
You've heard they worked so hard from Kiyoko, but it looks like at this rate, they aren't getting anywhere.
Unless they figure out a plan.
You can hear each teams Vibrations going back and fourth, figuring out what they are all going to do next.
"How many times were they blocked now?" Ennoshita asked, causing Sugawara to sigh.
"Too many to count." He responded, making the Spiky haired human beside him to look over to Tadashi.
"Well, Tadashi is getting a lot through though, it's almost impressive." He explained, causing the three of them to watch hinata, who had an annoyed look to his face.
You frowned form his behavior.
It looked like he wanted to punch the tall human in the face, which won't do good with his reputation to the team.
Kageyama glared at Tsukki, who was getting praised by Daichi and Yamaguchi.
'Damn.... He's better than I expected...' he thought, feeling annoyed with him as Tsukki then turned around, meeting with Kageyama's stare.
"You better snap out of it, buddy, or you're going to keep getting blocked. Why not give him one of your royal sets...The kind that wiped out your opponents...." He joked, causing the setter to suddenly shake with anger.
The annoyance of Tsukki's vibrations felt more throughout your ears. Making you yourself somewhat more Irritated from before.
Kiyoko noticed your off behavior, her eyes soon looking at a dark aroama forming around you, which made her slightly squeak.
You needed to do something...
So,  you decided to take action.
Looking over to Suga who was beside you, you tapped his shoulder.
Confused, he looked in your direction as you held his jacket out to him, causing his head to tilt even more.
"MmmhMM!" You just hummed, you're hand still holding out the jacket to him as the setter confusingly looked at you.
His face then changed to a heartwarming smile, his eyes can tell you want to help which is a nice gesture.
So he accepted you're little secret plan by taking you're jacket from your hands, the soft feeling of the silk running through his fingers.
His heart basically fluttered as you were now walking away from him, you're bare feet pattering the floor as you headed over to his friends.
He watched you pass ennoshita and the Kinoshita, who both noticed you walked by as they began to grow confused.
"What is she doing?" Ennoshita asked, a blank expression was on his face.
"I think she's encouraging them? I could be totally wrong-"
"She's going to play with them." Sugawara spoke up, causing the two to instantly look at him. Both of the second years eyes widened with surprise. "Seriously?? Does she even know how to play?" the human asked, making Sugawara to smile more.
"I don't know, she might totally suck but at least she's going to try and help them." He explained, making the two boys beside him to look back at you.
Their eyes noticed Hinata's face turning into excitement as you made Volleyball motions with your body.
Ennoshita couldn't help but let out a chuckle, finding it cute how adorable you're motions are.
But, he immediately sweat dropped as he saw both Tanaka and Hinata tilt their head's with confusion.  "They are clueless aren't they?"
The setter nodded as he looked over to Daichi, soon putting a hand on ennoshita. "I'll be back." he told him, his feet soon walking away as he headed towards the
You're hums rang through the three's ears, their eyes looking at you're charades as you tried to tell them you were playing with the three.
But sadly, two of them were confused.
"Are you two really stupid? She want's to play. She's making volleyball motions...." He mumbled, faced away from the two as his face was suddenly bright read.
You smile from his actions as your hand landed on the setters pretty hair, rubbing the embarrassed boy who soon froze from your actions
Hinata and Tanaka's face brightened up, their eyes seeing sudden light coming down on your form like you're some sort of savior.
Both of them shook it off, soon bringing you into a loving hug as it caught you by surprised.
Slightly jumping from their actions, the warmth of their hug brought you oddly at ease, your hands soon going up to their heads, rubbing them lovingly.
On the other side, Tsukki looked at the two confused, but slightly weirded out as he saw the waterfall coming out both of their eyes. "What a bunch of Idiots..." He mumbled, slightly Jealous that their hugging you all of the sudden.
Daichi beside him nodded towards Sugawara, who had a hand onto his shoulder. "Do you think she can help, I mean, just look how serious she is-"
As the two looked your direction, your body soon started to climb in the ball basket, you're body instantly plopping in it as the two of them just sweat dropped.
"You were saying about how serious she was?" He whispered, causing the setter to laugh from your actions.
Kiyoko sighed, her form walking in your direction as her arms held you by the armpit's, pulling you up from the ball basket as your little leg's wobbled in the air, you're face turning cute which made everyone except Tsukki's eyes to sparkle.
'SO CUTEE!' Hinata and Tanaka thought, their hearts feeling like they are going to explode. Tsukki just scoffed, his body suddenly facing away as his arms crossed, his face covering up the small blush forming onto his cheeks. "Can't we continue the game..?" He mumbled, ignoring the loud compliments Tanaka is giving you, his hand rapidly patting you're head as you just smiled up at him.
Daichi nodded from his request as he looked back to Suga. "It wouldn't hurt them, right? Why not?" Sugawara sighed with relief. "Thank you Daichi."
The captain just smiled. "No problem. ALRIGHT EVERYONE!  He yelled, catching the attention of Hinata and his teammates.
You're head looked in his direction, you're mouth giving him a small smile as you bowed with thanks, which made his heart flutter also.
His mouth soon smirked as his hand formed a thumbs up.
"Let's get back into it!"
The game continued with Kageyama serving, his serve was really, REALLY powerful, which shocked everyone, especially you.
But, sadly Daichi received it amazingly as he now had a sly smirk onto his face.
As the ball flew in the air towards Tsukishima, who was already going to set it.
"Tadashi!" He yelled to his friend, who was already running up to the net.
But, you weren't going to let the team sly off so easily.
Before everyone could get a chance to think they can score, you're small, little body ran towards the net, speeding past Hinata and Kageyama.
Their eyes followed you, Tanaka's eyes widen on how fast you can freaking run.
You used your demon powers a bit to help with speed, as a fast flash went by Tsuki's eyes as he set the ball to his friend.
Everyone's eyes widened as they saw you, about to do something very clever against them.
As your arms were behind you, you're leg's bended as your feet successfully pushed yourself off the ground, which made your small form Jump super high.
You jumped higher than Hinata as the Tangerine human and the Setter Human watched you with awe, their hearts growing more mushy while they watch you.
Your face was completely blank as Tadashi was about to spike the ball, but your hands went completely off, blocking the colorful circle as it instantly slammed straight into the ground.
It was like slow-motion to everyone as they all saw your body gracefully in the air, you're (H/l) (H/c) hair blowing with you as the color shined in the gym lighting.
Kiyoko couldn't believe her eyes as her glasses soon fell off her face, making a dropping sound as you gracefully landed back onto the floor.
Tadashi landed also, as his face was just as surprise, his eyes landing on you as you and him looked at each other.
Ennoshita-san was shaking, not with fear, but with excitement and surprised, impressed that a small girl like you was able to block so well.
Sugawara couldn't put it together, you said you didn't know how to play volley ball! How were you able to pull of a block that good!
Not too long after, the silence throughout the gym were interrupted with screams from the humans.
Hinata instantly ran up to you, his hands instantly making motions as you can hear his Voice vibrations going crazy. "WOOOW! YOU BLOCKED HIS SPIKE LIKE IT WAS NOTHING! YOU WERE LIKE BAM, WHOOOSH, WOWW!!!!"
"SHE CAN'T HEAR YOU DUMBASS, SHE'S DEAF REMEMBER?!" The setter yelled, instantly grabbing Hinata by the head, his legs wobbling through the air.
Tanaka was soon rubbing your head with his hand, which caused you to lean into his touch as his eyes instantly had tears running out of his eyes. "Little (Y/n) is such a badass! I can't take her cuteness and badass nature at the same time!" He chocked up, his arm soon sunning the falling tears from his face.
"Wow, that was impressive." Ennoshita got out, as the three of them were still surprised about your actions.
"She doesn't look like a terrible player to me, that block was freaking amazing." The spikey human replied, causing Sugawara to just slowly nod.
"Yeah..." Was all the setter responded as his cheeks were colored with red. He saw your hand petting the top of Kageyama's, who froze again from your actions.
The setter looked to you, his eyes noticing how your smile was specifically towards him, probable to help the boy calm down.
So, he caved in.
Kageyama leaned into your touch as his head instantly landed onto you're shoulder, which caused you to let out a cute squeak of surprise.
Tanaka cried even more when he heard that squeak coming out of your mouth, his heart not handling so much cuteness as Hinata was visible blushing beside Kageyama.
He couldn't help but chuckle at the sight, you are so nice to his newly friends, it made him happy that a demon is patting the humans heads instead of eating them.
Whatta sight, huh?
But, something about Kageyama was off.
It was his fault for the miss up from his serve.
If he would've calculated that perfectly, then they would've already gotten the point.
As his eyes glared at the captain, who was looking at you trying to calm down a blushing Hinata, Tanaka wiped his tears while walking over to the setter, putting his arm onto the boy's shoulder.
"Oi, I know you're upset from that serve back there. Let me tell you something. Steady receives like that are Daichi's specialty." He explained, the shaved human's vibrations twitching your ears.
Daichi soon was patting a sad Yamaguchi's shoulder, who was disappointed that you blocked his perfect spike.
Tsukki felt annoyed, his eyes trailing on you as your hand grabbed Hinata's, your face leaning into his touch a bit.
'I underestimated the little pipsqueak......I got to watch out for her...' he thought, seeing how stupid hinata's acting around you.
"We gotta keep our guard up Kageyama...." He stated, Causing the setter to sternly nod.
Tanaka's eyes soon landed on the team in front of them, as they were looking at him back.
You looked in that direction also, seeing how scary that side could be as the bean-pole human made a scary face, which caused you to instantly hide behind Kageyama.
"They've got mad defense."

Alright here's the dream and a bullet-point summary since I want to actually do stuff today. Feel free to use as a story prompt.
I dreampt there was a girl named Annie, who was having a sleepover party and she and all her friends had just gotten back from a flea market where they'd bought a bunch of stuff they were looking at and playing with, like old board games, jewelry, and some perfumes.
Including one that Annie had bought, which was in a tall rectangular glass bottle, with dark red liquid, called “Queen Anne's Lace”. Her name being Annie, of course she had to get it.
They were in her room testing out her new purchases when she decided to see what this perfume really smelled like, because there'd been a sign at the stall selling them that you weren't allowed to test perfumes there (because it was indoors, and people with asthma exist). And then they'd been too busy looking around outside to try it somewhere away from people.
Anne had a big window behind her bed, which she opened before she sprayed the perfume, in case it smelled horrible and stank up the room.
But no sooner did she spray it that...
...Well, she lost consciousness.
She was later told that a sudden gust of wind had poured in through the window with hurricane-like force, and then just as suddenly, sucked straight back out again - - knocking Annie violently backwards out the window.
She dreampt she was in the spirit world, and met Monkey, a short little self-described grey demon, who had dark purple and brown striped skin, a pointed muzzle, a very short tail, and very large pointed ears.
Monkey told Anne that the perfume she'd sprayed on herself was the last remnant of an ancient magical artifact, which had summoned him, and he was to be her guide from now on until she died and joined him in the spirit world. As long as he wasn't busy in the spirit realm, that is.
She woke up in the hospital, assuming it was a dream, only for Monkey to still be there.
He acted as her eyes, reading things to her, telling her where to go and what was in the way, ect.
As they got to know eachother better and bonded more he began to change, growing taller, his skin turning bluer, growing an armadillo shell(?) on his back, and getting a fox-like tail.
Eventually there was some sort of emergency in the spirit realm where the other spirits were pissed at Monkey thinking he'd cheated them all somehow because he was evolving but they weren't, and they were trying to kill him. So Annie used the perfume again, and this time its effects caused her to get hit by a car by being shoved into the road by the wind.
This time when she appeared in the spirit realm she wasn't human anymore, she was a half-caterpillar spirit thing.
She found Monkey and helped confront the other spirits with him, and Monkey revealed that apparently all the time they'd been bonding, the magical connection of their souls had been reverse-engineering the spellbook their connection originally came from.
All the demons had been promised such a spellbook to let them connect with a human soul so they could have that magical bond and also evolve, but someone hundreds of years ago had destroyed them all
Monkey and Annie ended up having to flee the crowd, and ran into a giant butterfly chimera thing. The butterfly was them in the future, bonded into one final form that contained both their souls. Fully evolved spirits could time travel apparently.
Their future selves told them that their bond was almost ready to complete the recovered spellbook, and all they had to do was return to Earth, and their future selves would take care of problems on this end by teaching the other spirits how to write their own spellbooks from their template.
Annie woke up in the hospital again, this time missing her right leg below the knee. I still don't know why.
And they lived happily ever after.

the watchtower’s lighthouse | stan vogel
pairing: stan vogel x reader
warnings: smut, swearing
summary: months after a disasterous first date with stan vogel, your paths cross once more when you’re lost within the depths of kern canyon national park during a thunderstorm and stan happens to have inherited a shift patrolling from the watchtower.
a/n: back from the dead because of this man. hope y’all enjoy :)
THE SKY EMULATED STAN VOGEL'S morals, consisting of gray unpredictability. If he was within the familiar walls of his assigned cabin, located along the grounds of Kern Canyon National Park, it would be an indication he wouldn't have to do much patrolling. Campers usually stayed put if there was rainfall, sticking to their own site and not off doing God knows what to the land Stan takes pride in preserving. Cascading a thick husk of superiority and knowledge was his favorite thing about the job, which is why he was disappointed he was stuck maintaining the watchtower for tonight.
The surveillance for the watchtower was run by a tight knit schedule of volunteers and the occasional firefighter that needed a change of scenery for a couple days. Needless to say with all the strange occurrences and sightings, there have been less and less people willing to take on the task. And now the duty was bestowed upon the park ranger— at least for tonight. He swore to himself that at sunrise he would be out of there and back to being the persistent, vexing gum stuck to the bottom of everyone's shoe.
Stan now sat in a wobbly chair, feet propped up on the desk and his trusty binoculars in hand. His surroundings were darkening, quicker than they would at his cabin because of the parade of trees towering over the area. He could mostly only see shadows and the outlines of the forest. His paranoia kept him on the lookout, knowing all too well what kind of perilous entities the park harbored, dark secrets he was trusted in keeping.
It was why his body jolted and he nearly fell out of his seat at a sign of movement. His hands itched to drop the binoculars and reunite with the shotgun propped up in the corner. His burst of anxiety was halted, however, once the lenses revealed a person. A wandering, soaked person clearly becoming victim to the thunderstorm that had been periodically easing and worsening for the past two hours.
Stan stood, walking over to the window with his binoculars hanging from the strap around his neck. He easily pried it open and stuck out his head. The drizzle of rain didn't reach him because of the roof stretching out along the perimeter of the watchtower, but he still felt the dip in the temperature. He estimated that it had dropped at least fifteen degrees since the start of the storm, the disappearance of the sun only escalating the drafty change.
He was about to shout down at what is most certainly a woman who had strayed too far from her campsite but then she twisted around, finally noticing the light emitting from up above. Recognization crumbles both of their attentive expressions. She becomes more than a drenched, carmine tank top, huddled body, and ropes of wet hair. He transforms into the exact opposite of a saving grace when his beige uniform and ironically angelic face are perceived.
"Well, well, well. Look who it is. Stalking your ex, eh?" Stan called down to her. The pattern of swift and drawned out words, swirled into a provoking and often mocking Australian accent, reached her ears over the light patter of rainfall.
She sighed, dramatically enough for Stan to see the rise and fall of her diaphragm. She considered turning around and braving the unknown of the wilderness again. If it wasn't for her sore feet and her prediction that she would develop some sort of hyperthermia if she stayed out in the cold, then she would've already been on her way.
"We went out on one date. You don't count as an ex," she clarified, craning her neck up at him. His smirk from knowing she was in a miserable condition and that he was the only one that could do anything about it ignited the first sense of heat she had felt in awhile. Her fists clenched against her crossed arms. "And you're the one with the pervy binoculars. On the prowel for half-naked campers, are you?"
He scoffed, winding his head to the side for a moment. "Enough with the bullshit. Are you coming up or not?"
In any other situation, he probably would've dragged their reunion out, teased her for being so helpless and naive. But she was shivering and looked so small curling into herself; it was a sight that played his heartstrings like a mystical harp. Even after a date gone wrong and the resentment that followed, he couldn't bare to see her like this.
She, on the other hand, still clung to some hesitation. Cozying up in a small, confined space with Stan where there were no other people around to ground her into the realms of sanity wasn't a compelling option. The both of them simply didn't get along. The nightmare of their date was very vivid in her mind, too, and she didn't want tonight to be a repeat of that.
Almost like nature could sense her doubts, thunder crackled and reverberated around the forest. Lightning flashed, incandescent and forbiding. The rain intensified, hitting her bare skin with a harsh force. Muddy shoes stumble forward a few steps but still don't gravitate towards the ladder.
"Better move your ass, sweetheart! Unless you'd prefer to get struck by lightning? Not to mention all the dangerous things lurking around that you haven't the slightest idea about."
Undeniable complacency was weaved into his taunt. However, it did get her moving. If she would've bothered to look up or if there wasn't such vast distance between them from their differing heights, she might've seen the concern nestled into glimmering, cobalt eyes.
Suffering through a climb where her wobbly legs and white knuckles were put the use, she eventually made it to top. Stan already had the latch swung open, bent down in the center of the room and waiting for her with an outstretched arm. Reluctantly, she took his offered hand and allowed him to pull her inside the watchtower.
"Crickey, you're freezing," he murmured. There was a softness to his features and the low timber of his voice. He'd even began rubbing over her fingers with his own, attempting to summon some warmth back into him, before he realized what he was doing and backed away.
"That's what happens when you get lost and separated from your friends and then get caught up in a storm," she summed up, monotonous.
"Your friends are idiots," Stan muttered.
She was about to deter the insults back his way until she suddenly felt a subtle weight on her shoulders. The scent combination of spearmint gum and lingering campfire smoke was sensed with a mere sniffle, and soon her hands were reaching up to pull on the sage green trim of his coat.
"You don't even know them," she settled for saying.
"They let you get lost, didn't they?" Stan's eyes found her wide ones, squinting slightly in familiar anger, but she could tell—this time at least—it wasn't directed towards her. "Yeah, bunch of mates, they are."
It was her turn to break the intimacy blossoming between them. She disconnects their stare that was inevitably going to convey all the unspoken feelings that still flourished inside of her to spare a glance over his shoulder. The furnace filled with a burning stack of dry wood lures her away from Stan, and she kneels down in front of it.
His hands go to his belt, elbows bent outward like he was posing as a chicken. He was unsettled by how consumed he was by his emotions. He wanted to give her space but then he finds himself reaching for her. He wanted to remain civil but the distaste in her tone and her infuriating, unreasonable glare casted towards him causes him to delve into his own hostile urges. The confusion of what to do and how to deal with her presence was boardering on insufferable.
But facing her, watching her beneath the firelight, the strain of his internal compass ebbed. He was no longer directionless or purposeless. The orange glare enducing a riveting shine to her hair and her tranquil countenance she upheld gazing into the flames had him feeling certain in just about every single thing that made the universe, the universe.
"You're staring," she whispers, a tremble in her reply she blames on recovering from the weather.
"And you won't even look over at me for a second." His observation coaxes her into peering at him, finding that he enclosed the distance between them by a few steps. A playful smile twitches across his lips. "What? Don't like a man in uniform?"
"I wouldn't be bragging about your outfit, Stan. You're a glorified Boy Scout," she remarks, rising from her position on her knees. Her thumb and pointer finger pinch the small, golden slate pinned to his shirt. "Even have badges and everything,"
"Get your grubby little hands away from my name tag. You're gonna smudge it," he grumbles, smacking her hand away; she lets out a humorless, short-lived laugh at his overreaction.
"Still an uptight asshole, I see."
"Still a mouthy brat, then?"
His retort makes her face harden. "Being honest doesn't make me a mouthy brat."
"Just inconsiderate?"
"You're preaching to me about being inconsiderate? You live off of ridiculing people. On our date, you insulted and humiliated our waiter because he didn't know the exact species of deer mounted to the wall."
"I was just taking a moment to educate him!"
"You called him a fumbling idiot who didn't know the basic fundamentals of biology!"
"Oh, like you were any better! Shoving your tits into the bartender's face to get free drinks!" He throws his hands up, easily overtaken by frustration and unresolved jealously.
"I know how much you make, Stan. You should be thanking me for that," she says slowly, deliberately, bringing up the one thing she knows will push him over the edge. He takes the bait, but she doesn't expect what he throws back at her.
"You're right. Thank you, sweetheart, for acting like such a slut on our first date that all anyone had to do for dessert was crouch down between your open legs."
Her mouth dropped at his statement. His exasperation dissolves to shock at processing his own harsh comment. He isn't able to focus on it for long, though, because she properly acts by allowing her palm to connect to his cheek.
Head snapped to the side, he can begin to taste a droplet of blood on his tongue, emitting from where his incisor pinched his bottom lip. He licks over the minor wound thoughtfully, heaving out a breath of false amusement. When he looks at her again, his face is dark and full of cruel intentions of revenge.
Stan surges forward and doesn't stop until her body crashes against the wall like she was just a bag of dismantled bones. His coat falls from her shoulders and slumps against the hardwood floor during the journey. His towering height and weight pin her in place, leaving her at the mercy of splayed hands and the relentless motions of his mouth against hers.
The awakening, leftover flavor of gum he must've chewed eariler just sinks in when he bites down hard on her lip. A whimper, the first sound she makes besides the ejection of a surprised gasp, is forced out her from the harsh gesture. A metallic taste replaces the one prior, one eager swipe of his tongue rolling past her parted lips.
The instinct to shoot her hands up and enmesh them in the soft, chestnut strands of his cropped hair is interrupted by an action of his own. He eases the intensity of the kiss, allowing her to breathe through languid, desperate puckers she reciprocates, but his fingers hook around both her bra and tank top straps, yanking them down her arms. She lifts herself out of them only to have him grasp the collar of her shirt and pull it down, her bra in tow, until they were just bundled material around her midriff.
Calloused hands fondled her breasts while his mouth diverts to her neck, sucking and nipping until her skin resembled the colorful patches of a quilt. She throws her head back against the wall, leaning into his touch and letting out the most delicate moans that had all of his blood gushing to the apex of his legs; she felt proof of it when he rutted himself against her.
Her forearms are squeezed between their bodies so she can reach the buttons of his shirt, manicured fingers working hastily and with not as much care she knew Stan would've liked, but he seemed to be too preoccupied by kissing her all over. Soon her hands were tugging up the white t-shirt he always wore underneath his uniform, and he helped her out by shifting it over his head and discarding it to the growing pile of clothes.
His chest was warm and inviting compared to hers. Her skin felt like cool marble underneath his fingertips, keeping her nipples pebbled and sweat from the heated exchange at bay. It was quite a contrast as their bodies continued to press together, her hands sliding along the expanse of his taut back while he concentrated on undoing her shorts.
"All mine," he mumbled against her jaw; it was certainly hard to disagree with him and all his handsy clutches and kisses that left her craving more.
"All yours," she confirmed softly.
The words barely left her mouth before she felt the heart-jolting sensation that was his hand sliding past her unzipped shorts and underwear. His fingers ran up and down down her folds, taking his time, ever the explorer. He often grazed her clit, encouraging her hips to arch into him for more direct contact, but he was careful to only give her a slight, fleeting amount.
"Stan." His name parted from her in a low whine—somewhat shamefully because she never thought she'd be in this circumstance, begging a hardass park ranger with a major superiority complex for a release.
"So wet for me. Awful naughty of you to get this soaked from one arguement with me, don't you think?"
She nuzzled her face into the side of his, nose brushing along his chiseled cheekbone. "Please."
"Aw, look at you. So sweet. You'd never think that you live to slander me."
"I have no idea what you're talking about. I am nothing but nice to you."
"Oh?" He inserts his middle finger into her, curling it precisely, while the heel of his hand grinds against her clit with every deliberate pump.
"Yes," she gasps.
Shallow pants gradually rack through her torso, and the ache of his throbbing cock becomes unbearable at the sight of her defenseless against his advances. He adds another finger, the grip and warmth of her slick walls causing him to shudder in anticipation.
"Such a little liar," he groans out after a particularly provocative contraction around his digits, one that rids him of whatever patience he had left.
He abruptly removes his hand from her shorts, something that makes her closed eyes flicker open. Her mouth immediately morphs into a pout and she squeezes his biceps in protest.
She isn't left waiting for long, hands on her hips guiding her away from the wall until the underside of her knees hit the edge of a cot. His mouth parts from hers once more, a sweet dragging of overlapped lips exchanged during the slow steps, so he can pull back the blanket. She looks over her shoulder at the neatly presented cot, which Stan must've brought with him along with his own fitted bedspread. She was now appreciative that he always came prepared.
Without having to be told, she crawled underneath the covers after ridding herself of the remainder of her clothing. Stan did the same once she was settled, becoming the final layer that draped over her body. The blanket and the crisp white of a top sheet stopped at the dimples of his back, and she was trapped in warmth, intensified by the glorious weight of his bare body on hers. Arms on either side of her head latch the cage as he leans down for another kiss.
"Don't mistake me keeping you warm as forgiveness. I'm still very mad at you. You drive me crazy," he sighs against her jaw, his eyelashes fluttering against the apple of her cheek.
"Don't mistake me moaning for you as an apology. You don't deserve one." Her strokes at the nape of his neck never faltered. Her thighs spread, legs winding around his, desperate for him to do something with his cock that laid twitching and swollen on her navel. "Well, you might if you fuck me hard enough."
"Shut up already."
Long fingers brick over her parted mouth in time with the repositioning of his hips, muffling the cries of consumption that came from him sinking inside of her. Eyes roll to the back of her head, almost completely sated by just the feeling of being filled. The head of his shaft glided against her most sensitive spot like a brush of shoulders, and her thighs tightening around his waist was her turning around, ready to chase shattering gratification.
Although slow, his thrusts into her were brutal. They held onto to each other like you would to ropes of a ruinous bridge connecting two cliffs, like they would be faced with a plummeting death if they were to let go. And yet, they were fighting along the wobbly planks, the semicircles of hip bones clashing together like medieval swords. It was all extremes, but neither of them would have it any other way.
He was making the most beautiful sounds above her. Through his ruthless motions, were breathy moans and whines of her name, the occasional praise intertwined into his enticing responses. Eventually, he allowed his hand to stop sealing her lips, sliding it down to clutch the flesh of her thigh with the promise of bruises. Her soft pleas and moans of euphoria joined his to create a symphony worthy of a ballet orchestra.
Strings of saliva conntected rouge lips to the marked skin of his neck, where she continued to suckle and playfully nip. The roll of their bodies picked up speed, both becoming impatient by the delicious ache they kept provoking, daring one another to spasm out of control. They craved for their muscles to become a tightrope and for the most intimate parts of them to pulsate from the finality of release.
"You've never looked prettier than you do right now. Your cunt squeezing me so tight, your mouth only able to form breathless whispers... completely wrecked. I love it."
"Please," she cannot help but beg, flickering eyes undecided on whether to shut her continue their hazy, half-lidded stare into his own.
"You want to come?" The inward pull of his eyebrows and the slight curl of his parted mouth way as well have been a mocking pout. "I know you do. I shouldn't even let you, though. You've been intolerable. I should just come all over your writhing body and leave you here without any satisfaction. Even if you were to finish yourself off, it wouldn't be enough. It would only feel subpar, and you know that, don't you?" His breath fans her face like the furnace had moments ago, and she can only whimper in reply. "Only I can sate you, sweetheart."
Her hands, whose nails had already inflicted damage to the freckled canvas of his back, sweep over his shoulders to cup his jaw. Her thumb strokes his jawline while the other ventures down the column of his throat, feeling the bob of his adam's apple with every constristing swallow he took. She could tell he was close, too, and decided to nod her head gently in agreement to his words, to wave her white flag.
Her surrender is reassured by fingertips dragging down her torso to her enlarged clit, granting bone-vanishing swipes that causes stuttered gasps and limbs going slack. It only takes a few seconds of coaxing rubbing for her release to erupt, the molten lava bursting from the pit of her stomach to electrify just about every nerve in her body. Her encompassing walls clutch around him so tightly that it summons a delirious climax from him.
His strenuous pace wavers, his hold on the cot becoming prudent, as if it was a buoy keeping him afloat through the thrashing waves of pleasure. White, sticky ribbons coat the inside of her thighs, and it's only when his heartbeat ebbs from his eardrums that he cracks his eyes open and collaspes into the small remaining space between her and the wall.
Stan speaks after catching his breath, remaining pants interwoven into his declaration. "This should've happened sooner."
"It would've if you weren't such a prick," she noted, sparing him a quick glance.
"Okay, maybe... I wasn't on my best behavior. But I was nervous. I liked you a lot. I wanted to impress you."
"And you thought bragging about how you're a know-it-all when it comes to plants and wildlife and the park's terrain was going to the trick?"She questioned, snorting at his logic. His nose twitch, an indicator of embarrassment, and she grabs his arm and tucks herself into his side. "You're such a dork."
He smiled at the gesture before she continued, "I'm sorry that I flirted with the bartender. I didn't mean to make you feel like you were second best or anything. Honest to God, I just wanted free stuff."
"Well, the cream puffs you got out of it were actually delicious," Stan admitted, tilting his head in her direction.
She smiled back at him. "I know, right?"
Stan may not be a prime example of a good guy but he had always took glory in being good at his job. That's what kept him going, that's what fueled him all these years. Now, he was considering what life entailed outside of that. Outside of the stressful responsibilities and government conspiracies and the never-ending studious tendencies. She came to him for refuge tonight, but, the truth is, he had been relying on her for a long time. To fascinate him, to stand up to him, to guide him back to where he belonged.
He felt like he was finally pursuing something that was more important than his duties here, than anything else he's ever experienced. He was an off-bound ship, cruising blind into the dead of the night, and she was a lighthouse, promising purpose and salvation from every bad thing that ever tried to sink him.

Crybaby imagines
I can’t find any BNHA X Reader blogs with their requests open, so heck it. Make the content you want to see in the world.
MHA Blonde boys react to reader crying (for various reasons)
Characters: All Might, Present Mic, Fatgum, Aoyama, Ojiro, Kaminari, Bakugo, Honenuki, Monoma, Mirio
All Might
1-A is an amazing bunch
It sort of just all hit you like a truck, really
How much 1-A had grown, how much they’d overcame
You’re not even entirely sure what sparked the thought process
But once it stared, you couldn’t stop
You were just so?? Proud??? Amazed???
Suddenly you were crying at your desk in the teacher’s lounge
Quiet, heavy tears
Your co-workers took notice, but it was Toshinori who approched your first asking what was wrong
You hadn’t even noticed you were crying
When you get into the why he’s all ears
He sits next to you and is soon joining in on the kid’s progress
He talks mostly about Bakugo and Midoriya, you go on about Asui and Koda
It turns to laughing and quietly bullying the kids for a moment as you two enjoy some of the sillier memories
Soon Toshinori, too, has tears in his eyes
He sobs more than you did
He’s just so proud of these kids!!
You feel like an old married couple talking about their 30-something kids living far from home
Kind of silly considering they’re all 15 and currently in class right down the hall
You two have to go see them during lunch break
Present Mic
Crying in Solidarity
You stood with Hizashi in front of a grave of a kid you never knew on an overcast day
He’d normally make a comment about the weather matching the mood but...
Not now
His fists were clenched, and though his smile stood strong and his glasses hid his eyes
They couldn’t catch his tears
You held his hand in silence and pretended not to notice the falling of his facade
It happens very seldom
He was shaking, you could hear his breath hitch hard despite his attempts to remain calm
You didn’t know this Shirokumo kid, you’d never met him, you couldn’t pick him out in a crowd if you had to
You didn’t even know who he was to Hizashi
But you knew it tore him up inside that he was buried here
You knew he kept his emotions well contained for everything else but him
You pulled Hizashi a bit closer, letting him lean onto you as tears began to run down your cheeks
The two of you stood in silence and cried on this, an overcast day
The weather really did match your mood.
Fatgum
Crying in relief
The hospital door opened with a loud slam
You didn’t really mean to slam it so hard but now wasn’t the time to go apologizing to inanimate objects for being a little rough
Your voice shrilled even louder than the door the name of the patient laying on the bed in the center of the room
Taishiro looked up with a face of ‘Oh shit’ which was the correct face to have
You were mad for all of the time it took to yell about how worried you were
FIRST OF ALL he didn’t even call to tell you he was in the hospital, you got that information from Tamaki
Second, you barely even know what HAPPENED to land him here
And THIRD,
Nope. Anger’s gone. Evaporated like a puddle in mid July.
Taishiro had sat up in his bed with a nervous smile, peppering in the nicknames and speaking in the gentle voice as he reached out to console you
Just seeing him sit up, his arms bandaged lightly around the wrist
It all just came crashing in
He was fine.
Tears over flowed as you cried a bit louder than you had yelled previously
Hiccuping and gasping out how worried you were and how mad you still wanted to be
Taishiro just laughed an apology as he hugged you, thankful for your concern
He promised to call next time
You found yourself yelling at him to never do this again
Aoyama
Crying on command
Acting was something you had mastered
More or less anyway
You dove head first into a role and you were damn good at it
But everyone has weaknesses
You’d locked yourself in Aoyama’s room, going over lines and choreography for some little play in the park you two had signed up for
Now you sat on his floor as he painted your nails, glaring daggers into the script
You had to cry.
It seemed so easy. Think of something sad and cry over it on stage. Simply.
and yet your eyes remained dry, your stage make-up perfect
Aoyama had been couching you, weeping all sorts of tears for your amusment
It wasn’t helping
You turned your glare to Aoyama, who was completely enthralled in drawing tiny art pieces into your nails
God he was bright
....bright.....
You looked directly up at the light on the ceiling and stared
Your eyes wide you forced yourself not to blink
It hurts
And it worked
You looked back to Aoyama with tears streaming down your face and searing pain in your retina
He applauded your dedication
Ojiro
It’s all just a lot
You weren’t really sure when it all became so much
But everything you’d been working at and training for suddenly weighed more than you could bare
You found yourself in the middle of the UA empty halls, flat on the ground on your stomach
Tripping was the breaking point
The straw that broke the camel’s back, as they say
You just started sobbing
When you heard footsteps coming you just kind of... wiggled out of the way
Pressing yourself to the wall you just continued to cry to yourself, curled in a ball, expecting the other person to just pass you by
Instead a soft white handkerchief gently pressed to your cheek, followed by a quiet “Are you okay?”
You were not okay.
Ojiro sat himself beside you as you wiped your face, continuing to sob
You didn’t offer an explanation, he didn’t ask for one
He sat in the hall quietly with you, his tail giving the occasional swish to brush your cheek of tears
The silence gave to time to catch your breath, and realize class probably started a long time ago
When you got up to be on your way, he joined you
He didn’t offer to walk you where you needed to go, he simply did
His quiet wave, his silent smile, his patient glances at you
It all made everything feel just a bit lighter
The next time you’d see Ojiro in the halls, he’d smile at you
And he’d be delighted if you could smile back
Kaminari
Crying from shock
It was just a little zap to the hip, a little bee sting
He’d been doing it to everyone in class, learned it from some stupid tiktok
When it was your turn to get stung, you let out the loudest yelp in the class
He laughed at first, proudly proclaiming how he’d gotten you
Until you whipped to him with fury in your eyes, along with tears
His panicked “Shit, wait, I’m sorry” fell on deaf ears as you quickly gave him a return jab in the hip
Without the actual shock part it probably wasn’t as painful
So you did it a few more times for good measure
Then he jabbed you again
And it was on
Jabs to the hip turned to jabs to the gut, armpit, neck, even right dead center in his chest
You were both in pain and sure to be covered in bruises when Iida finally separated you two
It was hard to see with the tears swelling in both your eyes
But when Denki made direct eye contact with you before giving a glance to Iida, you knew
You nodded, an evil smirk crossing your face
The two of you took your index and middle fingers, driving them quickly and roughly into the class rep’s hips simultaneously
His yelp had the entire class laughing
It then also had the entire class in study hall for the rest of break
Bakugo
He’s just kind of a dick
Standing outside of class 1-A you felt as though your heart was beating in your throat
When the door opened you jumped out of your skin as a green haired boy came out at full speed
He managed to stop on a dime before slamming into you though
You choked out the courage to ask him if Katsuki Bakugo was in class
The kid before you stared in shock before turning around and calling for a “Kacchan”, telling him someone was here to see him
You glanced in the door and watched as several people pried the man you wanted to see from his seat, shoving him forcefully to the door
They all then slammed the door behind him, keeping the green haired kid who seemed in a rush to leave trapped inside
He barked a what at you that made you reconsider all your choices
Still. You swallowed all your courage, and said what you came here to say.
You confessed your feelings to Bakugo, bravely.
He stared at you with a face of utter confusion, and it managed to catch you a bit off guard
He looked like he didn’t know how to respond
Which he, of course, didn’t.
So he responded the only way he really knows how
Anger.
“WHO THE HELL EVEN ARE YOU?!”
He called you some background extra. What gave you even the slightest though he’d want to be with some nobody he didn’t even know the name of
Within seconds of his screaming the 1-A doors slammed open yet again
The group who’d peeled Bakugo from his seat before jumped from the room and began wrestling him into submission, berating him for his treatment of you
But you were inclined to agree with him
You told them it was fine. He was right, you were just some nobody
You couldn’t stop your voice from shaking, tears streaming from your eyes as you gripped tightly at your shirt
Not knowing really what else to do, you turned and ran away
It was well over a few hours later, and you were still crying alone in the court yard
You flinched at the sound of footsteps approaching you. You closed your eyes and planned to make a run for it somewhere else to avoid bothering anyone
“Hey, dumbass,” a hand placed on your forehead, pulling you back to lean on the person behind you, “You could do a lot better than an ass like me.”
You glanced at Bakugo, who was looking far into the distance, his ears red
You cried and apologized. He didn’t say much else, but his hand remained on you, keeping you in place
You found yourself invited out more, running around with Bakugo and his friends, being rowdy and dumb as teens should be
Your crush on Katsuki Bakugo soon became a distant memory as he grew to be one of your closest friends
Honenuki
Yawning
You flopped dramatically onto the common room couch and let out the loudest, most drawn out sigh you could muster
This act of pure drama drew the attention of Juzo Honenuki, who simply chuckled at your antics
You stretched like a cat across the couch, reaching for him lazily with one hand, you swatted at the book he’d been comfortably reading
He gave another chuckle and inquired what you were after
You answered with an equally dramatic and drawn out yawn, bringing tears to your eyes as you again stretched to him
You then closed your eyes and snuggled into a couch pillow
Honenuki’s hand stretched across the couches and found itself on your head, giving gentle pets back and forth
Once he found himself a good stopping point, Honenuki put his bookmark in place and snapped the book closed
He gave a stretch and a yawn before encouraging you to your feet
You lazily tangled your arms around one of his and draped yourself over him
The two of you walked to your separate dorm rooms arm in arm, occasionally letting out more and more exasperated yawns and sleepy giggles
Monoma
Crying from pain
This was... probably your fault?
You remembered running into Awase from class 1-B while going a bit too fast though the halls
Next thing you knew you were in front of him, on your ass, staring up at him upside down
It took a minute for the pain to register, but as soon as it did tears stung your eyes
You couldn’t even really say anything as Awase’s eyes filled with panic when he’d realized what he’d done, quickly dropping your arm and stepping back, probably planning to make a run for it
The is until his blond classmate came up behind him, pressuring him to apologize in a loud, negging tone
When Awase again avoided your eyes, opting to shove his hands in his pockets as he glared at the wall, Monoma dropped to his knees and offered you assistance
The question of “Do you need to go to the nurse?” was accompanied with a handkerchief dabbed at your eyes
Monoma helped you to your feet, apologizing for his classmate, assuring you you were fine and didn’t need to report this to a teacher because you were clearly fine look at you you’re fine
I mean you weren’t bleeding so... Yeah? You were fine.
He sounded like he’d be the one in trouble if you told someone about Awase self defense flipping you over his shoulder
When he offered again to walk you to the nurse, you declined
He was right, you were fine, just a bit sore
You wiped the tears from your eyes and thanked him for his concern as you walked passed him
You also apologized to Awase for bumping into him, though he just huffed a response
You didn’t get very far when you heard quick steps following close behind
Monoma was just checking in to make sure you for sure weren’t going to tell anyone class 1-B’s Awase threw you like a rag doll
He also just figured while he was here he’d ask if there was anything he could do to make up for this incident
Like... buy you lunch sometime.... Or take you out to a nice cafe he knows after school... maybe...?
He just. Didn’t want you to think class B does hit and runs like this on all the pretty students
Mirio
Crying from laughing
Your sides hurt
You gripped onto yourself as you leaned onto Mirio, cackling harder than you had in a while
He was retelling some jokes he’d gone over with Sir Nighteye at his internship today, regaling you, Tamaki, and Nejire with perfect one-liners and horrid puns
You all were laughing far too hard for this late at night
Tears pricked your eyes as you slapped at Mirio’s leg, gasping for breath you begged for a time out
You have the most contagious laugh, Mirio was positive his jokes only ever landed because you laughed at them so easily
When you finally caught your breath you sat up, rubbing giggly tears from your eyes
You gave a glance around the room and found Tamaki doing the same, though his tears were from the yawn he’d just given
All three of you watched Tamaki adorably shifts as he rubbed the tired from his eyes, something he flushed over when he’d finally noticed the attention
Nejire declared that meant bedtime and hopped from her seated position, pulling Tamaki along with her
In a matter of moments she was dragging the tired boy out of the room to their own dorms
You and Mirio chuckled at her antics before you too got up to get going
Mirio offered to walk you to your dorm, which wasn’t far down the hall, but he made such a show of it how could you say no?
Of course he spent the whole walk telling even more terrible jokes that continued to crack you up
By the time you’d gotten to your dorm you were so giggly you couldn’t see straight
Mirio waved as he turned and walked the 5 feet back to his own room
He then turned around and waved again, claiming he already misses you
You giggled at him and returned to your own room
He loved your laugh.

You’re driving back from an out-of-town mission with Hawks when your car breaks down on a very sparsely-populated highway. While you await relief, things get... personal.

The shadowy trees on either side of the highway cast a chill across the pavement as the sky went dark.
It was far from sunset, but the woods were so tall and thick that the light had disappeared from the road a long time ago. The overpriced navigation system laid into the dashboard of Hawks’ luxurious car was no help at all; not when you were taking the only road for miles around.
The highway narrowly passed for two lanes, winding precariously down from the mountains. Dotted with reflective yellow signs- deer crossing, bear crossing, creatures-of-unimaginable-horror crossing. Bigfoot himself could have wandered into your headlights and you barely would’ve flinched.
But that was to be expected, given where you’d come from.
That day’s mission brought you both far, far away from the city. There was a national forest about three hours away- one of the biggest in the country- and you and Hawks had been called in at the crack of fucking dawn to drive all the way out to the woods and investigate some ‘strange reports,’ as the rangers cared to call them.
Most park rangers knew what they were seeing when guests came in from the woods reporting abnormal happenings. Nobody was truly immune to fear, though, when faced with the impossible.
Whether there were paranormal creatures lurking in those woods or not, you couldn’t have been sure. But after spending the day exhausting both your quirks combing every spare inch of those woods, you were relieved of your overnight duties by a group of other, more nature-savvy heroes.
Hawks had been miffed, but too exhausted to argue. He didn’t like to think he’d been overshadowed. You were just thankful to be going home to your own bed.
“Okay,” you sighed, nursing the last of a lukewarm soda from a burger joint at the edge of the only one-horse town you’d passed through. It was a pretty unassuming stop for dinner, but you and Hawks both agreed that the burgers were way too good to be sold to so few patrons.
Keigo was driving, with one palm splayed lazily across the bottom edge of the wheel. His scarlet wings stretched into the backseat, draping over the shoulders of his black leather backrest like some bizarre kind of seat cover.
The fact that his car was so luxurious was not lost on you- although you were more surprised to find out that he had one at all. Hawks seemed like the last person in the world to need a car, after living in a fantastic downtown penthouse. And owning a pair of wings, come to think of it.
He owned it because he could. And because he knew how good he looked in the driver’s seat.
“What?” He turned a curious eye toward you, though he never quite pulled his gaze from the road.
“I know we started this conversation on the way here,” you began, “but… we never exactly finished it.” You swirled what was left of the ice chips in the bottom of your cup, considering the best way to voice your thoughts.
“Alright.” He sounded vaguely amused, slouching a little further down and drawing an idle palm over his feathered hair. “Shoot.”
“Well…” You trailed off. “You’re kind of… a city guy.” You were already starting to talk with your hands. The racket coming from your half-drunk soda was proof enough.
“What makes you say that?”
“You are,” you defended. You let a playful edge creep into your tone. “And the agency’s kind of a city thing.”
“Am I really as one-note as you’re making me out to be?” He was chuckling. Your cheeks were going hot. You weren’t sure how this became a personal conversation, but you were determined to steer it in the proper direction. You course corrected.
“I just mean, we don’t take a lot of jobs outside the city. Like… ever. So, what’s with this one? Why this call?”
He didn’t answer right away. When you glanced across the car, he was licking his lips and appearing to be, very genuinely, thinking.
“Well,” he began. There was an immensely appealing depth that wore around the edges of his voice when he was deep in thought. You hung on tightly, trying your best to hide how intently you listened.
“I was just… bored, I guess.” He gave a lazy little shrug. His eyes were still trained on the windshield, but you could feel the weight of his urges. He wanted to look over. You turned your head, willing him to.
“Probably sounded like bullshit, now that I think about it,” he confessed, “but if there really was somethin’ freaky in those woods… I dunno. I wanted to see it.”
You resisted the urge to snort.
“Maybe you should start a ghost hunting branch at the agency.”
“Aw, c’mon,” he protested. This time, he really did drag his eyes away from the road for a second. They glinted playfully in the dark. You got a flash of pearly canine from the barest hint of a grin, but it was enough to put a stupid smile right across your face.
A sickening thud from beneath the hood zapped any false confidence you’d been building. There was a dull pop, then the engine died.
“What the- shit.” Hawks scrambled to put both hands on the wheel, navigating the car with what momentum remained over to the narrow shoulder. The tires hit gravel and soft mud, rolling pathetically to a stop and settling in damp silence.
“What the hell was that?” You leaned over the dashboard as your pulse came down from near-terminal velocity. There were half a dozen lights blinking away on the dashboard- symbols you couldn’t understand.
“Not sure.” Keigo was doing his best not to sound too perturbed. As a result, he was just perturbed enough.
You knew what those lights implied, though. Service due. Oil change due. Battery maintenance due.
“Jesus Christ,” you hissed, “when was the last time you took this car in for service? It’s a miracle you even made it out of the goddamn garage.”
Hawks was in the process of mashing the engine start button like an arcade game. When you spoke up, he pushed it down and held. The engine gave a dull, sad sort of sputter, but nothing roared to life.
“Look, look,” he dismissed, waving a hand in your direction as he unbuckled his seatbelt. “I don’t drive this thing that often, okay? I’m gonna go check under the hood.”
He climbed out of the driver’s side and slammed the door before giving you the chance to remind him to pop the hood. For a minute, you let him wallow in his mistake, watching gleefully as he pried at the seam of it. Finally, you unbuckled yourself and leaned over, flicking the release for him.
He gave an unamused glance toward the windshield and lifted the hood, obscuring all but the very tips of his drooping wings from view.
After about fifteen seconds, he ducked back into the car with a rush of cold air behind him. He rubbed his palms together as you watched, arms folded over your chest.
“So?” You prompted. He gave a sideways glance in your direction, blowing into his chilled hands.
“So what?”
“Oh my g- what’s wrong with the car?” You tried your best not to let panic set in.
“I don’t know. It’s just a bunch of pipes and wires under there. They didn’t exactly give me a map of the thing when I bought it.”
You’d seen Hawks pull people out of burning buildings before. You’d see him think on his feet, devise a plan and act on it in the blink of an eye. Usually, he was impulsive. Confident. Clever.
Tonight, on the other hand, he was demonstrating a very clear affinity for money over brains.
You flopped into your seat, scrubbing your hands over your face. You were not going to freak out. You refused to. It didn’t matter that Keigo had suddenly become useless in the face of disaster. You were heroes, even if you had to save your damned selves.
“Oh,” he quipped from beside you. “Still got bars. See?” As you peeked over at him through one cracked eyeball, he waved his illuminated phone screen at you. “It could be worse, kid. If this were a horror movie, this thing’d be dead.”
He tapped away on the screen, seeming very pleased with himself. Even his wings gave a little ruffle, draping themselves smoothly over the back of his seat again.
“I’ll call us a tow. We’ll be outta here in no time.”
A few minutes later, you had a map pulled up on your phone while Hawks’ brow creased deeper and deeper.
“Uh-huh.” His voice had taken on that irresistible deepness to it again, but this time it was sending pangs of dread through your gut.
“Right.” He brought a palm up to smooth over his jaw, fingertips bending and pressing idly against the patches of scruff that dusted it. “Y-yep, yeah, I understand. Fifty miles is a long way. I know it’s gonna be a lot to send a truck that far. But-“
As he was abruptly cut off by the other end of the line, those idle fingers slipped up to his temple, pressing inward and rubbing in stiff little circles.
“Okay. Alright. Yeah, I guess we’ll wait, ‘cause there’s not much else we can… I understand. Yes, thank you. Thank you. Okay, we’ll be here. Or within a ten-foot radius. Thanks. B-“
He blinked rapidly at the screen as he pulled it away from his ear. “Have an excellent night, sir,” he muttered under his breath. He let out a deep sigh, lifting a hip to tuck his phone away again.
“They said they would send someone,” he said, “but the depot is, like, fifty miles from here. Could be a couple of hours.”
“A couple hours?” That cold dread was settling into your chest again. So much for sleeping in your own bed.
“Yeah. C’mon, get out.”
“What?” You glanced past him at the frosted driver’s side window. “It looks freezing out there.”
“Well then, you’d better bundle up. C’mon. I’m gonna fly us back to the city.”
“No way. Hawks- Keigo.” You grabbed his arm and squeezed tightly as he made to get out of the car.
“What?” Exasperation was creeping into the edges of his voice. The sides of his gaze, too, as he landed against the seat back with a thud and turned his cheek to look at you.
“You’ve been flying all day. Your wings are shot. You’re not flying anywhere.”
“What? They’re fine.” He gave the appendages in question a defiant flutter and a cloud of expiring feathers floated into the backseat.
You folded your arms across your chest. Hawks gave a frustrated growl.
“What do you suggest, then?” He retorted in fierce opposition to your silence. “Just sit around and fucking… die of old age before the tow truck comes?”
“Oh my god, you’re the number two hero,” you snapped back. “When did you become such a drama queen? Yes, we’re going to wait. Like a normal person would have to.”
“I’m not being dramatic; I’m presenting you with a legitimate solution and you’re ignoring it!”
“If you try to fly us both out of here, you’re gonna hit the ground before we’re halfway home. And then we’ll be really stranded, with no water and no shelter. So, if you’d like to fly back all by yourself, I can’t stop you. But I’m not going to let you kill both of us.”
“Fine!” Hawks’ cheeks were flushed with temper as he kicked the door open and clambered out of the car. He kicked it shut again so hard the whole body rocked, and for a moment you were left, trapped in shocked silence.
He was really going to leave you out here. Alone.
Half a dozen heartbeats passed before his boots crunched on the shoulder and he wrenched the door open again, flopping back into the car with an immense sigh of irritated defeat.
“Fuckin’ freezing out there,” he muttered as quietly as possible.
You wanted to punch him.
“You ready to wait?”
His wings stiffened behind him, then drooped so lowly they seemed to disappear into the backseat. He looked at you from the corner of one tawny eye.
“Yeah.”
For the first hour, you honestly enjoyed yourself. As soon as Keigo accepted his fate, he got much closer to his usual mellow self. You finished off cold fries from dinner, listened to true crime podcasts on your phone, (you listened- he talked over the whole thing) and played a few ruthless games of hangman on a couple of napkins you found in the glove compartment.
You’d spent a lot of time with Hawks in a professional capacity. As partners, you took most of your missions together. You were well-versed in the way that he liked to think, the way he approached a job, a conversation. You worked well with each other and you were drawn to his quick wit and laid-back humour. Even if he was a piece of work at times, you made a strong team. But you didn’t do a whole lot of hanging out.
“Okay, that’s it,” he chided as you added an extravagant top hat to the completed, dressed hangman scrawled onto the inside fold of your last napkin. The word he’d failed to guess was ‘patience,’ and the irony of his struggling was not lost on you.
“Aw, c’mon,” you protested. “You’ve still got gloves and a bow tie left.”
“No, no, no.” He held up a palm, shaking his head. There was a good-natured grin curling his lip as he bowed toward the door. “I’m callin’ it. I gotta take a leak.”
You snatched your soda cup from the drink holder, clutching it protectively against your chest.
“You’re not going in here.”
Next, it was Hawks’ turn to shoot you a deadpan stare.
“How about in the woods? Is that allowed?”
Your cheeks went hot. “It’s pretty dark out there.”
“Aw.” Hawks shoved the door open. There was an unfamiliar glint to his eye as he tossed a mischievous look over his shoulder. “Guess you won’t be able to sneak a peek, then.”
You slammed your fist into his back. “Shut up and go take a piss.”
As the car door clicked shut, you turned the other way out of sheer habit. All you could see in the opposite window was the reflection of your own face. Maybe it was just the dim light, but you looked exhausted. Keigo had seen you caked in blood, streaked by mud and soot before. But you’d both been awake since four o’clock that morning and there was a special kind of ugly feeling that came with overtiredness.
You were dreaming about the first thing you’d do when you got home again when Hawks climbed back into the car. He looked considerably brighter as he ducked inside, and he brought a flush of rich, earthy forest-smell along with him.
“Don’t tell me you couldn’t find it in the cold out there,” you quipped. Payback.
But Keigo just chuckled, shaking his head.
“Close the door,” you whined as the frigid air from outside finally reached your bare arms. “It’s already cold enough in here.”
“Aw,” he crooned, tugging the door shut behind him. “You scared of a little cold now, kid? It’s not so bad out there. Feel.”
He lunged at you, ducking rapidly to rub his frigid cheek against your shoulder. You let out a terse yelp and squirmed, trying to shove him back amid a sea of chilled giggles. He got a few passes of his icy skin on yours before you both realized how close you’d gotten.
Hawks cleared his throat and scooted away from you. In the bare light from the shitty overhead lamp, you were starting to see the outline of a flush creeping into his cheeks.
The light abruptly went out, leaving you in darkness again.
“Tell me something,” he mused, grabbing for the abandoned takeout bag and digging a hand into it. He produced a tiny wrapped square and tore it open with his teeth, removing the folded alcohol wipe from inside and gliding it with impossible grace over his fingertips. He eyed you sideways.
“How come we don’t hang out more?”
Your chest went cold. You’d been dreading that question all night. Longer than that, even.
“What d’you mean?” It was a gut response, but you instantly kicked yourself for even attempting to play dumb.
“You know,” he chided, dumping the wipe back into the paper bag once he was finished with it. “We work. We do interviews together. We do those bullshit PR functions together. I’ve known you- what, two years? And we’ve never even been for a drink. What gives, kid? Don’t tell me I grate on you.”
“I get plenty of you on company time,” you retorted. You were starting to panic. You weren’t ready for this conversation, but it didn’t seem like you were going to be rescued by the timely arrival of the tow truck.
“Okay, okay, I’d take that,” he laughed, “if you hadn’t agreed to take this mission with me. C’mon, this wasn’t exactly a nine-to-five gig.”
He paused. “Come out with me this weekend.” He nudged your shoulder with a bony elbow. You tried your best not to snap.
“Stop,” you pressed quietly. “You know why we don’t.”
The smirk slipped from Keigo’s face.
“What? Why?”
“Don’t make me say it.”
“Wait a second, there’s an actual reason? What the hell is it?”
The confusion was genuine on his face. Hawks could be a smarmy little shit when he wanted to be. But you could tell he wasn’t fucking with you.
“Oh my god.” The words slipped out like a deep breath. Your hand drifted to your mouth as cold shock ran over your skin. “You really don’t remember.”
“No.” His confusion was bordered with fear. He sat back a little, letting his eyes drift over your expression. “No, I really don’t.”
You swallowed hard. You should have known that you’d have to talk about this eventually. But he didn’t even remember the night that had been changing the way you acted around him for nearly a year.
“Last Christmas,” you began. Your breath was so short that it put a desperate hush to your voice that you absolutely hated. You revelled in your ability to act casual around him, but the more probing he got, the harder that composure was slipping.
“At the agency gala. You remember the party, right?”
Hawks rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, and I got trashed.” He paused. Realization dawned on his face, and he shot you the deepest, most sincere look of concern you’d ever seen. Even more sincere than the look that crossed his face when you got shot off the roof of a house and broke a rib.
He leaned forward.
“Did I do something?” He swept a palm over his mouth, fingertips dallying at his chin. You knew exactly how he felt in that moment. You’d been there before, too, realizing that you’d lost control. Blacked out. Understanding that you might have done something you were going to regret.
“You really don’t remember a thing?” It was your turn to be horrified. How could something that consumed your every thought stay so damned far from his?
His fingers were still curved around the point of his chin. He’d gone white, and he shook his head as his eyes cast down to his lap.
“You fucking kissed me, okay?” You snarled with a whip of frustration. “There was mistletoe and you kissed me under it and-and Christ, I can’t believe you.”
“What? What?” He demanded as his voice grew defensively sharp.
“I had no idea what you were gonna do. What you were gonna say, what was gonna change between us. I showed up to the agency the next morning and your hungover ass acted like nothing had ever happened.”
“Of course I did,” he defended, “I didn’t think anything did happen. Oh my God, did I really kiss you?” His wings were coming to life all of a sudden, bristling on either side of his seat. There was a dull whisp as one edge of them brushed against the window. They seemed to expand, along with his horror, to fill the entire car.
He pushed further. “Well, did you… did you want me to?”
You could see where his thoughts were taking him. The answer was an impossible dilemma. To lead him further down that path would not only be cruel, it would be untrue. But to tell him the truth- that you had wanted it- would be to shatter the fragile illusion of casual, platonic intimacy that you’d been building over the last two years.
You chewed your lower lip. Hard enough to hurt.
“Oh god, you didn’t,” he gasped. That was enough for you to lift your chin and shoot him a sudden, sad, pathetic little look.
“Jesus,” he gasped again, deeper this time. “You did.”
“Look,” you snapped. “I was never gonna say anything to you. I was never gonna push it. You didn’t feel that way and I knew that and I just wanted to work.”
He told you enough about his personal life as it was. Every date he swung in from on Monday morning, every Friday night he spent preening in the last hours of the workday hurt enough already. If you’d grown close, fallen harder, it would’ve become too much to bear.
“What do you mean, I didn’t feel that way? What way don’t I feel? How could you even know that?” He was beginning to raise his voice back at you and the adrenaline was pushing you way too far to listen.
“Because you never said a fucking word to me about that kiss! You pretended like it never even happened, Kei! What was I supposed to think!”
“If you’d asked me, you woulda known that I didn’t speak up ‘cause I didn’t remember a goddamn thing!” Keigo jammed a finger into his temple. His golden eyes flashed. He was so fucking hot when he was angry, but this was not a fight you ever wanted to have.
Luckily for you, he was having it without you.
“What do you want me to say to that?” He snarled. “Huh? What- you want me to tell you that I’m sorry for not having psychic powers? That I’m sorry I didn’t hire a mind-reader to tell me what the fuck was going on with you?”
He scrubbed his hands over his face. You were on the verge of tears.
“I-I never-“ you began, but Keigo beat you to the punch,
“You know, maybe I noticed that you were actin’ funny around me. And maybe I should’ve asked. But maybe if you ask yourself, and if you really, honestly give yourself the truest answer, you’d be able to admit that you knew how I felt about you. That you always knew.”
“Of course I knew!”
Your response echoed raw and deafening in the silence of the car. You’d lost your temper and shouted it at him with every decibel left in your breathless chest. Your fists were clenched atop your frigid thighs as you bent over in your seat, shivering. To your immense embarrassment, warm tears trickled down the sides of your nose.
He was right, after all. Every sideways smile he’d given you was just a little too broad to be friendly. Every time he caught you by the hand, he held it just a little too long. Every time he offered you the crook of his elbow at a stuffy charity gala and every time he poured you into a cab at the end of the night, he promised to take good care of you. Every time he looked at you at all it was with a depth that you had recognized, but never understood.
“But look at us, Kei. Look at what we do to each other.”
You sniffled, scrubbing tears off your cheeks with the heels of your hands. He reached for you, seeking to comfort, but his hands twitched midair and he drew back instead.
“Yeah,” he croaked. You tossed a glance in his direction. He looked more dejected than you’d seen him in a long time. He rested both hands on top of the wheel, the rest of his body sagging against the seat back.
“Except now I’ve told you,” you continued. “And now we both know, so everything’s fucked no matter what.”
You were met with silence. The truth was dawning on you. You hated to even consider it, but it felt like what needed to be done.
“When we get back to the city,” you started. Hawks interrupted you with a low rasp of your name.
“No, when we get back, I’m giving you my resignation.”
“Fuck, stop.”
Keigo lunged, grabbing you by the back of the neck and pulling you toward him. He rested his forehead against yours and closed his eyes. The warmth of his closeness weighed on you like a heavy quilt. You couldn’t even pretend not to be immensely comforted by affection from him.
“I’m not gonna let you do that, kid.”
You were both drawing deep breaths- slow, rolling gulps of air that matched over gradual time. You licked your lips, bracing your chilled palms on his shoulders. Your fingertips brushed the very edges of his feathered hair, dull and soft in the dark.
You’d talked each other down from bigger, badder edges before. But this one had sharp, jagged rocks waiting at the bottom. This one, you were going to have to jump from together.
“I can’t do this,” you pleaded. “I can’t keep myself away from you like this.”
“Don’t.” His voice was hushed and so achingly tender, like he couldn’t take the command himself.
“I can’t-“
“Then, don’t.”
He was firmer this time, and the pad of his thumb brushed the bottom of your lip. He pulled back just a hair, grazing the tip of his nose across yours. The heat of his breath puffed over your lips and his blonde eyelashes threatened to tickle your cheek.
He drew in a slow, calculated breath.
“Lemme kiss you. Lemme try again. I’m not gonna forget it this time, I swear.”
“Keigo, please.”
“Just lemme try. Just once. I’ll never ask you again, if you don’t want me to.” He pulled back the rest of the way and your body keened at the loss, but he looked deeply into your eyes. Deeply like he’d never been allowed to look before.
You licked your lips. Considered it for half a heartbeat. Then you gave a slow little nod.
“Okay.”
To your surprise, he didn’t lunge again. He took his time with you. He cupped your cheeks tenderly between his bare palms, memorizing the curve of your face. He stared, taking you in like this. At his mercy.
Finally, he leaned in and captured your mouth in a soft kiss, heartbreakingly loving. You responded eagerly, blossoming beneath his touch and bracing your hands on the broad plane of his chest. Your fingers curled in the fleece that lined his coat.
You kissed back with near-desperate urgency, shamelessly showing him how touch-starved you’d become. Dating was pointless when Keigo stole your whole heart every time you showed up to work.
The quiet press of his tongue had your jaw going slack in his hands. Your kiss went needy all at once, and he licked into your mouth with a hunger behind his movements that you never anticipated sensing from him.
You broke from him first, turning your cheek to him as your lungs burned. Your mouth was swollen, and you gasped greedily for whatever stale air lingered between you. He grabbed your chin and forced your eyes back to his.
His gaze was fearsome. Ravenous. You were powerless beneath it.
You combed your fingers through his hair like you’d always wanted to, settling your palm at the nape of his neck. Your own voice was nearly unrecognizable, nothing more than a feral growl.
“Get in the back.”
Hawks took one look at the narrow gap between his seat and yours and sat up, nudging the driver’s side door open. He climbed eagerly into the road and then back into the back seat, settling in the center with his legs and wings splayed wide.
Meanwhile, you took the opportunity to wiggle out of your boots and pants and slam dunk everything into the foothold of the passenger’s seat. You climbed over the center console in your underwear and settled into his lap.
Even though you had to bow your head against the cushioned ceiling, it was a holy sensation. Your thighs settled perfectly into the crooks of Keigo’s legs, and his hands slid so naturally over the curves of your hips. It was as if you’d done this before.
You kissed him again, using the weight of your newly boosted height to descend hard and loving against his lips. He grabbed you hard by the ass, drawing you smooth and tight against his hips.
“God,” he groaned eagerly into your mouth.
“You’re so. Fucking. Perfect,” you hissed back into his, and he squeezed you harder, breaking his lips from yours to trail a hungry path of kisses along the edge of your jaw. His scruff scratched at your chin just like you imagined it would. You loved him like this- trimmed, unshaven. The rougher, the better.
“Don’t say that,” he purred dangerously close to your ear. “You’ve seen me at my worst.”
You tried not to grin, remembering Keigo barfing over the balcony of the Plaza after one too many charity-benefit martinis. Keigo caked in ooze after cutting open that sludge villain from the inside. Keigo on the verge of tears, just a few minutes ago.
“I still think so,” you pressed, and he smiled against your cheek. His wings, tired and bruised but majestic as ever, stiffened proudly. They were capped firmly by the cramped space that surrounded you, but the feathers that spread across the back seat were sleek and graceful.
You dug your fingertips between his jacket and his t-shirt, feeling the warmth of his torso all over. He did his best to shrug it open, but the material was caught up on his wings- no getting it off now.
He wound his hands into the hem of his shirt and tugged it up for you. The skin you could feel by slipping your fingers underneath was all you were going to get.
Not that it mattered to you. It was far more than you’d let yourself so much as picture before. While you felt your way across his heated abdomen, he dipped his head to your pulse point. He scraped the points of his teeth across your tender flesh, making you sigh and shiver. He pressed a hand to the small of your back to keep you close and nibbled all the way down to your neckline, leaving a trail of tiny welts in his wake.
They would fade by morning. Tonight, the feeling was enough.
He glided smooth, tender fingers up your sides. You straightened, letting him wedge your long-sleeved t-shirt up around your shoulders. You had to bend even further and press your forehead awkwardly against his shoulder to wrench it off. Once he peeled the fabric over your head, you tossed it haphazardly toward the front seat. Keigo was already going to work on his fly.
The tender press of his erection had grown apparent by that point, stiff and needing down one thigh of his thick pants. You reached between your legs and palmed it indulgently. There was an answering throb of arousal in the pit of your belly as you felt the shape and thickness of it trapped against his body, and an even stronger one when his hips pressed into your touch and he gave a low rumble of approval.
“Don’t act so surprised,” he crooned. With his pants unfastened, and the bulk of his cock shifted to the stretchy pouch of his undershorts, he slid a fingertip down the plane of your belly and curled two graceful digits between your thighs.
“Are you wet for me yet?” He shot you a deep, lustful stare. You rocked your hips against his fingers, hopeless in resisting the pleasure he offered. Keigo nudged the crotch of your thong easily aside, dipping his middle finger against your slit.
He sucked a sharp breath through clenched teeth as you gave a simultaneous yelp of stimulation. When he looked up at you again, he bore a sly little grin. You’d seen it a thousand times before, but never with such desire. And never all for you.
“You’re drippin’, kid.” He arched his palm, slipping that finger slowly upward and easing it inside you. There was no stretch, but the sensation of intimacy- of being felt in such a way by those hands that you’d never dared to fantasize about- was intoxicating in its own right.
Keigo was, apparently, feeling it, too. His eyes were deeply lidded, glazed completely by his own desire. The tip of his cock had found its way over the waistband of his undershorts, weeping shiny precum against his stomach and the bottom of his shirt.
He curled a blunt fingertip inside you, massaging your tender front wall. The feeling rappelled up the column of your spine and brought deep trembles forward. It brought fresh handfuls of wet slick from your depths, gliding down his palm and between his fingers. He took the hints your body offered and rubbed faster, watching the way your expression morphed from desire to pleasure.
“Stop,” you hushed, leaning forward and pushing your lips to his. He drew his hand back from you immediately, settling it on your thigh. The wet little print it left against your skin wasn’t lost on you.
“Something wrong?”
“No,” you replied. “Just ready for you.”
He gave a low, loving little chuckle and shifted beneath you. “Can’t hold out any longer?”
You smiled into his hair. “Don’t want to.”
“Fair enough.” His smile was even, but the tug in his voice betrayed his fraying nerves. It thrilled you to know that you weren’t the only one putting way too much emotional stock in this. It was immensely validating to discover that he’d been anticipating it, too.
He wiggled and squirmed against the backseat, shucking his pants and underwear down over his thighs and letting his cock pop out. It bobbed against his stomach- thicker than you’d imagined- framed by a trimmed scruff of tawny hair that disappeared under his shirt.
“Fuck,” you sighed in spite of yourself.
“I know, right?” He rasped. He reached for you, cupping your jaw. He brought your forehead down to his, giving a weak laugh. “What the hell have we been waitin’ for?”
“We just needed the bottle episode to shove us together,” you giggled. “C’mon, we’re a walking trope right about now.”
“We’re about to become a different trope if you don’t let me fuck you.” It was his turn to play the desperate card. But the ache between your thighs had not dulled, even a little.
He wrapped his fingers around the base of his shaft and you lifted your hips. He gave the heated tip a playful little swipe along your slick slit, but his game backfired when both of you let out tight cries of sensation.
You rocked your hips forward, taking his tip eagerly inside. The sensation was toe-curling, made even better by the way he held you tightly against him, nosing at your ear and kissing any patch of skin he could reach.
He brought his free palm to your ass as soon as you were situated, helping you slide the rest of the way onto his cock. With your knees braced on either side of his lap and your feet pressed tightly against the front seat, you let him bottom out. And for a moment, you just sat there.
“Jesus,” Keigo sighed, lolling his head against the seat behind him. You still had your head deeply bowed, trapped in the space that seemed just an inch too tight.
“I…” Your thighs shuffled. Your hips gave a little squirm. It felt good, but it wasn’t enough. Keigo cracked an eye and lifted his chin, sensing a problem.
“What’s the matter?”
“I just…” Your cheeks went hot. You licked your lips. “I can’t move.”
His gaze cast downward, to the place where you were joined. He took in the press of your thighs, the curve of your neck. He snorted.
“No, you can’t. C’mere, kid, I gotcha.” He planted that palm on your ass again, drawing your hips forward and up, as far as you could take them. Your head and neck bowed with the rest of your back as he draped your upper body over his chest and held you tightly against him.
Then he planted his feet and gave one good, deep thrust. Your innards gave a jerk. Oh, fuck.
“That’s it,” you panted into his ear. He nodded tensely.
“Yeah?” He prompted. “That’s workin’ for ya? Alright, alright. We’ve got this, kid, c’mon. Lemme show you somethin’ good, okay?”
One thrust sent you spiralling. But the rhythm that he dove into- steady, tough, fluid- sent every nerve through your body into meltdown. You were entirely incapable of dealing with such pleasure, combined with the emotions that swirled through your lovestruck brain.
It felt as though you had been holding out needlessly for all this time. Like all the hurt and frustration and heartbreak you shed over him would be evaporated, now that you understood that he wanted you like this, too.
Like that was all there was. You, Hawks, and the free love you could now share.
“I’m n-not-“ Keigo stuttered, piping up after a series of breathless pants and airy groans, “n-not gonna last much longer, kid, you’re… really gonna make me feel it.”
“Yeah,” you breathed back. You looped your arms tightly around his neck, tilting your hips forward. You could feel the barest hint of stimulation when your clit brushed his belly, so you leaned into it- aching for your own release.
His rhythm doubled as the intensity of your pleasure spiked dangerously high, and when you gripped him hard and rocked your hips in time with his, there was a low, warning pull that echoed all the way up to your throat. You were close. Very close.
Your head dropped backward and Keigo leaned forward, drawing his mouth up the vulnerable column of your throat. He panted hard and heavy against your pulse point.
“That’s it, kid, that’s fuckin’ it, baby, oh, God, I’m g-gonna f-fucking… I- shit, I- can’t… fffuck!”
Keigo let a vicious roar tear from his throat as he reached his vibrant peak. His erratic thrusts brought you to a tight little climax, too, and you clung to him and whined and rode through the pleasure as he fucked madly up inside you, spurting messy shots of cum into your depths.
Gravity took hold of his pleasure, dripping it onto his shaft and pooling it in a sloppy mess between you. And when it was all finally over, you collapsed against his body and you both stayed, airless and spent, wrapped tightly around one another.
It was the bright flash of headlights on the back of his neck that brought you to the surface, moments later.
The inside of the car was warm and stuffy and damp. Had you just come in from outside, you might have realized that it reeked of sex. Sweat and breath and fluid and feeling. The windows were near-opaque, fogged by the dampness of your lovemaking.
It was a moment you might have loved to capture, if you weren’t about to be so rudely interrupted.
The light in your rear windshield was bright white and flashing orange. Unmistakable.
“The tow truck,” you wheezed, scrambling off of Keigo’s lap. “Oh, fuck.”
“Get dressed,” he muttered weakly, already scrambling to get himself cleaned up and decent. He was far more dressed than you were, so you did your best to climb back into the passenger’s seat and slide back into your own clothes. You banged your shin hard on the center console, and your head on the ceiling as your body flailed in retaliation. You crumpled into the front seat and nearly kneed yourself in the mouth trying to scramble back into your pants.
By the time you climbed out of the car, fully dressed, with a few additional bruises, Hawks was already standing on the shoulder, talking to the driver. The driver was wagering a few guesses on what might be wrong with the car. Hawks’ eyes had already glazed over.
“Hey,” he greeted, as he spotted you emerging over his shoulder. He introduced you quietly to the driver before the ballcap-wearing, bearded man spoke again.
“Yeah,” he gruffed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’ll give you a lift to garage nearby. It’s kinda late, but he keeps weird hours. I bet he’ll take a look for you, it’s prob’ly an easy fix.”
“That sounds great,” you gushed, clasping your palms together. There was a lot of stiffness settling in around your hips and thighs. You couldn’t be sure if it was a result of the compromising position you’d nearly been discovered in or the whole lot of not moving you’d done for hours before that.
Either way, it felt good to stretch your legs.
“You c’n go ahead and hop in the back,” the driver directed, waving the key that Keigo had apparently already given him in indication. “I’ll get you hooked up, no problem.”
Keigo opened the truck door for you, and you climbed over the passenger’s seat into the back. He followed closely behind you, tugging the door shut and slouching into the opposite side.
You sat in silence; hands clasped between your knees. A confusing air settled between you.
You felt vulnerable and raw and moony. You wanted to hold his hand and curl up to him in the back seat. Kiss his cheeks and tell him how good it was, tell him how much you felt.
For you, though, it could never be that simple. There was no free love for heroes like you.
Pay later, always.
Keigo felt the weight of your gaze. He turned to meet your eyes and shot you a thin smile. You’d seen the look that he’d turned to hide from you, though.
The truck driver climbed into the front seat before words could pass between you. But you didn’t need to hear them to know what they were going to be.
You didn’t need a warning to understand what Monday morning at the agency was going to look like.

Tumblr media
A yawn.
You rubbed your tired eyes and dictated a reminder for tomorrow morning to your AI assistant. It was pretty late and you had your hands full all day with your kids. And while family time was always great, there hadn’t been a spare moment for you to tend to your own business. But two decades of dealing with your hyperactive yet loveable children (and husband) taught you to make the most out of what you got. So you were doing just that, organizing your errands and sorting important emails after everyone had scurried off to their rooms, and your husband — to the shower.
Baekhyun was quite exhausted himself, so you realized he must’ve gotten in the common bathroom by the time you exited the one in your bedroom. He did that sometimes when you locked the door out of habit. Not that he couldn’t come in, it was just… You used to scold him pretty badly for breaking into the bathroom. Picking locks wasn’t something you wanted your juniors to acquire as a habit. They had enough of their daddy’s traits as it was.
The thought made you chuckle. Your eldest son had already outgrown his father by at least five and a half – gotta be precise here! – centimeters (which made daddy very proud, but also a teeny tiny bit jealous). Despite his height, which, you were sure, was going to break the golden 180cm in the next few months, your boy’s build was exactly the same as Baekhyun’s. His shoulders were broad, his hips wide, and his waist was naturally narrow. Legs long and lean, and eyes always mischievous. He was eighteen and already seemed more like Baekhyun’s best friend rather than his child. Being both the hyung and the oppa of the household, he was the most mature out of the bunch, and always a big help to his parents.
Your middle child, your precious daughter, resembled you a lot. Her wavy hair and her big eyes with the longest eyelashes either of you’d ever witnessed. Seriously, that was the first thing Baekhyun’s friends had commented on when they came by to meet your new baby. ‘Is this even normal? Can she see through those? That’s one pretty baby!’ She was even prettier now, at her sweet sixteen, cheeks still a bit chubby, which – just as her button nose – were definitely an homage to her dad. Not to mention her hands that were even more delicate and exquisite than his.
The youngest, your six-year-old son, was a blessing. You weren’t planning to have more children after the first two until you suddenly thought… why not? Cannot say that you weren’t a little bit under the influence at the time. It was one of those rare weekends when your kids had a sleepover at their grandparents’, so you had the whole house to yourself. Deciding to have a domestic date and enjoy shameless daytime drinking, you indulged in a whole glass of wine before both of you were tipsy and giggling, then you added one more to the mix. At that point, all kinds of crazy things were brought up.
‘We should do this more often…’ You informed your partner. ‘This is exciting! We can walk around naked the way we used to before we had teenagers in the house!’
‘I miss our naked Saturdays…’ Baekhyun whined, almost spilling his wine while trying to sip it gracefully. ‘Now I barely even see you naked with your shower locking obsession!’
Pursing your lips, you dismissed his complaint.
‘After that incident… You cannot blame me for my caution.’
The incident was, well, your son needing to use the bathroom while his sister was taking too long and heading to the one in your bedroom. He nearly walked in on… an adult scene.
‘He didn’t even see anything, Y/N-ah,’ your husband grumbled, but you waved him off, downing your drink as if it was a shot of tequila rather than a glass of wine.
‘I don’t see a problem though,’ he blinked at you, not following. ‘We’re alone. Why not… See each other naked again?’
‘Right. We can also- Y/N-ah!’
‘What?’ You eyed his suddenly enthusiastic form with nothing but suspicion.
‘We can create a distraction!’
‘Hm?’
‘A distraction for them. So that they’d be busy with something else while we’re away.’
‘Hmm?’ You still couldn’t locate the source of his excitement.
‘Lemme show you,’ he slurred, tugging on your wrist to get you up and dragging you to the bedroom.
Let’s have another baby – that was his brilliant idea. Had you both not been such poor drinkers, one of you would’ve thought this through.
Nevertheless, you were glad that you didn’t. Because your little angel, who could sometimes be more of a tiny demon, to be frank, was the single sweetest thing to ever exist on planet Earth. He had his entire family wrapped around his little finger, and you – most of all. How could anyone blame you? That troublemaker was the spitting image of his dad and had a personality to match — just as playful and affectionate.
The chill spring breeze from the window licked at the bare skin of your arm, causing you to shiver slightly, coming back from the land of reminiscing. You stretched on the bed, noticing how protruding your nipples became from the cold even while hidden by the gentle fabric of your nightgown. Pulling the covers up, you grunted under your breath, wondering what was taking Baekhyun so long.
Just as you did, the door cracked open, and your husband sauntered into the room.
‘Ah finally, I thought I needed to go rescue you again,’ you chuckled.
That had happened before. He once used the common bathroom to shower before bed and ended up captured by your daughter, who was around six or seven at the time, in the hallway. She then demanded cuddles, knowing that her father was too weak to turn his precious girl down and send her back to bed. You found them both huddled up asleep on the couch, with your husband’s head tilted dangerously to the side. Terrible sleeping postures always had consequences, so you spared him the agony of the next morning, waking him up mercifully and helping to get your little girl to her bed. This was only one of many occasions – Baekhyun was a softie.
This time, however, he was a bit stupefied.
He didn’t react to your remark and seemed like he was going on autopilot when he came closer and sat on the bed.
You lifted the covers, inviting him to join you, and he followed your lead, still staring at the wall across the room.
‘Yeobo,’ you called, getting slightly alarmed. ‘Are you okay?’
He blinked, the stupor breaking, and looked at you with astounded eyes.
‘I- I think,’ he began, making you shift to face him properly. ‘I think I just overheard our daughter watching porn!’
His voice lowered to a whisper by the end of that sentence.
‘Oh my god,’ you whispered back. ‘How do you figure?’
‘I was walking down the hallway, and I thought I heard something from her room. I didn’t fully register what it was, but now that it processed… It was definitely porn!’
The signs of distress on his face almost caused you to break down in a fit of laughter. You held it in with all you got. Fathers and daughters, the eternal struggle.
‘First of all, ew. Aren’t you even a little bit ashamed to be eavesdropping on your kids like that?’ You didn’t let him protest. ‘Also, how do you even know it was porn, you know she sometimes mumbles and whimpers in her sleep. Like someone else we know…’
Giving him a pointed look, you leaned over his chest to turn the lights to the lowest mode, leaving the room dimly lit. It was always effective when you wanted to help him relax.
‘I wasn’t ea- And you think I can’t tell what porn sounds like? There are some generic… sounds. That give it away.’
‘When was the last time you watched it?’ You murmured, eyeing him curiously.
Of all people, you knew best how short his attention span was. Sometimes it could work to your advantage. Like right now, when you needed to de-escalate this before you could reason with him.
‘I- wh- I don’t know, probably when you were pregnant,’ he recalled. ‘The third one was somehow the toughest on me. You looked way too attractive for a heavily pregnant lady, let me tell you.’
‘Heavily pregnant??’ You scoffed, softening right after. ‘Well, you have a point, he was pretty huge. I swear, if he doesn’t grow up to be taller than Chanyeol, I’d be offended. That boy’s giant head prolonged my healing by at least a month.’
Baekhyun sighed and looked up at the ceiling, thinking back to that time.
‘He was the only one who caused you to tear, right?’
‘Yeah. Which is weird, considering that he was my third one. Ah well, I guess I’m not getting any younger…’
‘Aren’t you though? I’m constantly being asked about my pretty young wife,’ Baekhyun smiled at you charmingly. ‘And you only became prettier after the third pregnancy. I say it’s the hormones.’
Your cunning little plan was working. He was incredibly easy to distract.
‘Tell me the truth, was it the boobs? Or my butt? I did gain the most weight with the little daredevil, that’s for sure.’
‘It was all of you. You always looked so sexy when pregnant, I just wanted to have you all to myself,’ he cooed at you. ‘To feed you handpicked strawberries. And smother you with kisses. My beautiful young wife.’
At some point during this conversation, you shuffled closer to each other, now cuddled up snugly on the bed. Your finger slowly traced abstract patterns on his chest, happily exploiting the access to his skin where his pajama shirt was unbuttoned.
‘Ah, you’re just saying that to get under my nightgown,’ you batted your eyelashes at him, and he shook his head.
‘Maybe a little, but that’s true. And it’s not surprising that people are noticing – you are younger than me.’
‘A couple of years is nothing at our age,’ you murmured, bending your knee and moving your leg slightly up his to get cozy.
‘Well, you know what people say… Small kids make parents younger. Wanna have another one?’ He nudged you gently and laughed at the dirty look you gave him.
‘Yeobo- please don’t make jokes like this. I’d rather look for other elixirs of youth than go through that entire ordeal again.’
You knew that he was kidding, but the thought made you shiver.
‘I know, honey, I know. Like I said, you’re not in need of any elixirs.’
At this you relaxed, melting into his shoulder, and guiding his arm to wrap around you, warming your exposed shoulders.
‘Well, Mr Byun, same to you. Still as charming as two decades ago.’
‘Hey, I’d like to think that I’m more charming now. The experience and all.’
‘Who helped you gain all that experience though?’ You poked him lightly, and a low chesty laugh escaped his lips.
‘Of course, it was my one and only, my young, and beautiful, and smart and sexy little wife,’ he punctuated each compliment with a chaste kiss to your cheeks, nose, lips, and neck.
You squirmed in his arms.
‘Ah, you make a woman go mad,’ you purred into his lips mockingly.
He snickered softly, ready to lean in, but then stopped abruptly.
‘Wait a second- What about-’
‘Baekhyun…’ You murmured as he fussed on the bed.
‘I should probably go in there, and-’
‘And what? Embarrass your daughter?’ You held him down. ‘She’s sixteen, honey, it’s just the hormones. We’ve both been there. Let her be.’ You nuzzled his neck, pressing your lips to his sensitive skin lazily.
His mind was growing cloudy again since your hand was now caressing his inner thigh foxily. He’d probably realized what you were doing by now, but you were right, so he allowed you to sway him into giving the idea of an immediate intervention up.
‘Besides, I’m sure you wouldn’t be nearly as appalled if that was our eldest,’ you scoffed and added in an exaggerated tone. ‘Never took you for a sexist.’
‘But- he’s eighteen, and she- she’s my little girl…’ He mumbled in a small voice, hazed further by your not-so-subtle seduction. ‘I can’t let her- watch that-’
‘Don’t worry, yeobo,’ you whispered soothingly in his ear, slipping your hand into his loose pants. ‘I’ll talk to her tomorrow. Without you. No need to traumatize the poor girl, that’s how daddy issues develop.’
‘You should know,’ he bit back meekly, sighing when you finally wrapped your fingers around his semi-hard length.
‘The sass! It’s almost like you still got it, Mr Byun. Care to impress that young wife of yours?’
‘I sure will, you cunning woman,’ he growled playfully, completely giving in to it and attacking your laughing mouth as he lifted the covers over your head.

AKAASHI –
You understand why Akaashi wanted to keep your relationship secret. Really, you did. You could already imagine the barrage of overbearing comments, and the teasing that was sure to be a distraction during practice. With Nationals just around the corner, this was the last thing you both needed.
Being the manager of the Fukurodani Volleyball Club, you know better than most just how rowdy the group could actually be. Bokuto may be the loudest one of the bunch, but all the others can be just as provoking.
And to be honest, the sneaking around was kind of hot. You can’t deny you got butterflies every time Akaashi would pull you into the equipment room for a quick make out session, or when he would give your thigh a secret squeeze under the lunch table surrounded by your friends.
But it’s been months now, and frankly, you were kind of getting tired of it. Sure, it may be slightly more convenient for the both of you, but some days you just want to hold your boyfriend’s hand down the hall without having to look over your shoulder.
You’ve only brought it up to Akaashi once before, but he brushed it off by saying it wasn’t the right time, and you were discouraged to try ever since.
You really weren’t planning to bring it up at the Tokyo Representative Playoffs… you really didn’t. But Konoha’s girlfriend showed up to cheer him on, looking so happy and proud in the stands, you couldn’t fight the tinge of envy that started to take over your body.
Akaashi was observant, and he knew you better than anyone. He could see you stealing glances into the stands, could see the tension in your shoulders whenever Konoha’s girlfriend yelled out cheers for him.
He couldn’t stop himself from following you after you told Yukie you were just going to the restroom.
“No good luck kiss?” he called out once the both of you were a safe distance from the team.
“I’m sure you wouldn’t want anyone to see,” you said bitterly, not stopping for Akaashi.
Akaashi frowned. “Y/N, you know that’s not true.”
“Well, why else wouldn’t you want to tell anyone about us?” you asked, you finally stopped walking, turning around to give him a hard look.
Akaashi groaned in frustration. “Do we really have to talk about this right here? Right now? I told you, it’s just easier this way.”
You scoffed, and Akaashi hated the sound. “Sorry our relationship is such an inconvenience for you.” You didn’t give him a chance to reply, quickly entering the women’s bathroom, faintly hearing the sound of Bokuto calling your boyfriend’s name behind you.
Akaashi didn’t blame you for the loss against Itachiyama, but he definitely blamed himself.
“Have you seen Y/N?” he asked Bokuto after the game, but the ace just shrugged, too upset about the loss to really care. The whole team had all gathered their things, ready to make their way out of the gym and you still were nowhere to be found.
Akaashi’s worries were relieved, but quickly replaced with new ones when Bokuto spotted you down the hall, cornered by someone wearing a Nohebi uniform.
“So tell me, do you have you a boyfriend?” Akaashi heard him ask, and you finally noticed the team approach you. The evil gleam in your eye didn’t escape Akaashi’s attention.
“No, actually. I don’t.”
It was one thing for you to deny it to your teammates, but to other men? Akaashi shouldn’t be mad that those were the words that came out of your mouth; it was his own fault for putting you in the situation in the first place. He knows you’re just doing what he told you to.
But he was furious, and there was nothing that could have stopped him from grabbing you by the elbow, turning you away from the dirty little snake that dared to talk to you, and crashing his lips onto yours.
You weren’t sure what reaction you were expecting from Akaashi, but it definitely wasn’t this. Though, you weren’t complaining, returning his kiss with equal fervor, ignoring the uncomfortable cough from the Nohebi player, and the gasps and shocked exclamations from your teammates.
All you could focus on when he pulled away was Akaashi, blue eyes staring straight into your soul, the next words tumbling out of his mouth was all you’ve wanted to hear for months.
“You’re mine. I’m going to make sure everyone knows it.”

KENMA –
You’ve been sitting in the same spot on Kenma’s bed for about an hour now. The room was filled with only the sounds emanating from the TV, and your boyfriend’s fingers tapping on the buttons of his controller.
Kenma always did like falling into a hole whenever he bought a new game; you’ve known this about him since you were kids. It wasn’t something you ever really minded, nor did you think it was something you wanted to change. It was a part of him that you simply accepted.
Normally, you were content with reading a book while he played, the two of you sitting in comfortable silence, getting lost in different worlds. You both respected each other’s hobbies, and the fact that you could do them together in the same room worked out so perfectly.
However, you finished your book faster than you anticipated, and in your shortsightedness, you failed to bring with you a second book. You tried to read webtoons online, but the light from your phone began to strain your eyes.
“Kenma,” you whined as boredom got the best of you, and the blonde boy didn’t bother to respond, “I’m hungry. Can’t we get something to eat?”
“After,” he grunted, though there were no specifications to when ‘After’ would be.
You sighed, getting up from your spot on the bed to tinker with his things. You walk around his room, running your fingers along the books lined on his shelf, picking up frames that contained happy memories of his life.
You hear your phone ding, signaling a message and you turned to make your way back to the bed.
“Hey!” Kenma exclaimed suddenly, making you jump, “Could you not walk in front of the TV? I just died because of you!”
You stared at him in shock for a second. You had never heard him raise his voice before “Excuse me? So what, it’s just a stupid game.”
“It’s not a stupid game,” Kenma grumbled, his voice back to his usual soft tone, but still held a slight tinge of anger. “You know I’ve been waiting for this to be released. Can’t you just read your book and be quiet like you usually do?”
Kenma immediately knew those were the wrong words to say, regretting the way you face turned into a pout. He watched you begin to gather your things, a slight panic rising in his chest when he realizes you’re trying to leave. “You know what, let me just leave you alone, since clearly my company isn’t wanted –“
You were cut off by Kenma getting up from his spot, opening the bottom drawer of his TV stand to rummage through it. You eyed him curiously until he finally found what he was looking for; pulling out another controller that he connected to the gaming console.
He quietly took your hand, pulling you down to sit on the floor with him. You sat cross legged and confused, wondering what he was doing until he handed you the controller. You stared at it in your lap, a small smile spreading on your face at his silent apology.
He started the game on easy mode, giving you a quick rundown on the basic controls.
“I’ll order us some pizza,” he said quietly, making you give him a soft peck on the cheek.
“Pizza sounds good.”

OIKAWA –
The booming sound of Oikawa’s serves was something that will never cease to amaze you.
Sometimes, it was hard to reconcile your Oikawa Toru – the one that hides behind your hair during scary movies, and asks you to kill the spiders for him – with Aoba Johsai’s Oikawa Toru. To you, they were just two completely different people.
But when you were watching him practice like this, raw power coming from his usually gentle hands, you can’t help but stare at him in awe.
You don’t usually stay this late to watch him practice; on a normal day, your club activities would end at the same time and Oikawa would walk you home, but on days like today where he felt he needed the extra practice, you left him in the care of Iwaizumi.
You were a little surprised, however, when you found Iwaizumi waiting for you at your club room, claiming he really needed to get his part of his group project done by tonight, and if you could please stay and make sure your boyfriend doesn’t kill himself.
How could you say no?
At this point, you’ve lost track of how many times Oikawa practiced his serve, the repetitive sound of the balls bouncing and his grunting becoming a sort of hypnotic rhythm for you. Before you knew it, the sun had BEEN down, and the moon had taken its place in the night sky.
You begin to notice the telltale signs of exhaustion, Oikawa struggling to catch his breath, chest heaving up and down, his form beginning to look sloppy.
“Alright,” you say, jumping down from your spot on the bench, “It’s time to go home.”
“One more.”
“Tsk,” you clicked your tongue, walking around collecting the balls, “It’s been hours, Toru. Rest is also a part of training, you know.”
He ignored you, grabbing another ball from the cart, but you just started taking down the volleyball net.
“What the hell are you doing? I said one more!” “And I said it’s time to go home!”
The ear-splitting sound of the volleyball slamming the floor cut through the gym, leaving you frozen in place. “You wouldn’t understand! You may be satisfied with doing the bare minimum for your practices, but my serves have to be perfect! I have to be perfect!” Oikawa’s voice echoed, glaring at you with red eyes, frustration evident on his face.
You didn’t say anything. You stared at him for a moment, then turned around and began the process of closing the gym. Oikawa also chose to stay silent, brown eyes trained on the floor as he gathered his belongings, silently following you once you turned off the lights and locked the door.
The walk home was quiet; the lack of a reaction on your part weighing more heavily on Oikawa than he expected. He snuck a glance at you, but you kept your head forward, steel faced and neutral.
Each step he took was more agonizing than the last, knowing he shouldn’t have lashed out at you like that. Your house was beginning to come into view, and he couldn’t leave the night like this.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly, and your sharp inhale let him know that you heard him.
“I know.”
“I’m exhausted...” and you know he wasn’t just talking about volleyball.
You finally faced him, and gently grabbed his arm, wrapping it around your shoulders as you snaked an arm around his middle. He felt all the tension his body melt away, half expecting to find it puddled around his feet.
“I know,” you said, “But if you ever talk to me like that again, you’re getting a flying fist to the face.”
Oikawa laughed, drawing one out from your own mouth. He placed a kiss on your temple, and gave you full permission to cut his head off if he ever lashed out at you again. He always appreciated how he never had to tell you anything… you always just knew.

KAGEYAMA –
Kageyama had a pretty good weekend, if you asked him.
He woke up early on Saturday morning to go for a run, then got home and had pork curry for lunch. He figures it’s been a while since he’s brushed up on his basic skills, so he went to the local gym and practiced some drills. On Sunday, he was dragged by Hinata to a study group with Yachi, and admittedly gotten more homework done there than he would have on his own.
It was a nice, productive weekend. He entered his Monday with this positive vibe following him around, even morning practice went by smoothly.
He went about his usual routine of waiting for you by the school gates so he could walk you to class. He only waited about ten minutes until you came into view, and Kageyama subconsciously straightened his posture. He tried to push down the little tickle at the pit of his belly when you made eye contact, not wanting to admit he was excited to see you.
“Good morning,” he said as soon as you approached, but his entire mood completely shifted downward when you simply walked passed him.
Where was his usual ‘Good morning, Tobio-kun!’? Why didn’t you stop to give him his morning peck on the cheek? Why didn’t you let him carry your bag for you on the way to class?
Did he do something wrong?
He was so confused, questions running through his head as he simply trailed after you silently.
“Is everything alright?” He tried to ask once you reached your class, but you just gave him a stern look, turning away from him to enter your classroom and take your seat. He was left there looking like an idiot.
He couldn’t focus in class, trying to wrack his brain on why you could possibly be upset. Did he forget an anniversary? Doubtful, you’ve only just started dating. Were you on your period? Kageyama shook his head. Even he knew that would literally be the worst question to ask.
The bell rang to signal the start of lunch, and Kageyama hurriedly gathered his things so he can go find you.
He didn’t have to look very far, though, because when he exited his classroom, he spotted you down the hall.
The second you saw him, you marched your way over; the dark aura you were giving off had made everyone steer clear of you.
Kageyama gulped, wanting to run away before he remembered that he also wanted to talk to you.
“Y/N –“ “You know, I was going to ignore you the whole day, but seeing you this morning just really pissed me off, and unlike you, I actually can’t stand not talking to you.”
Kageyama blinked, happy to hear your voice, but confused at the words you were saying. “Unlike me? What do you mean?”
You crossed your arms and huffed. “Where the hell were you all weekend?”
Again, Kageyama blinked stupidly. “What do you mean? I was home.”
This seemed like the wrong answer, because now your hands moved to your hips, and for some reason, you were ten times more intimidating like that. “So? You never thought to shoot me a text? Or give me a call?”
“Was I supposed to?” Kageyama asked, and the genuine curiosity in his voice made you face palm.
“Did you not want to?” You asked, though there was no hurt behind the question.
“I did.” “So why didn’t you?”
Kageyama thought about it for a moment. “I went to the gym instead.”
You let out a groan of frustration. Honestly, you should have known. It took you three tries before Kageyama even realized you were confessing to him. It took him even longer to realize that he actually had to tell you he liked you back, and that you had no idea that him buying you yogurt meant he was asking you out.
“Tobio-kun,” you said patiently, “If you’re thinking of me, you should text me or call me to let me know.”
He tilted his head slightly. “Even if I have nothing interesting to say?”
You nodded, looping your arm through his and starting your walk to the cafeteria. “Even then. I just want to hear from you.”
Kageyama nodded his head in understanding. “Okay. That’s good to know.”
Your phone never stopped blowing up after that conversation. RIP your notifications.

Let's play a game
A/N - Who remembers the snippet I posted ages ago with the bad boy / good girl. Well, I finally did something with it.
Please enjoy, Chapter one.
Tumblr media
The warmth of the sun was the first thing I felt when I woke up, coating me in a blanket of warmth. It was too much warmth, and I was rapidly becoming uncomfortably hot. The second was the throbbing in my head, undoubtedly brought on by all the alcohol I had consumed the night before. And the third was the heavyweight of an arm across my torso. Who did the arm belong to? Well, to be honest, I wasn’t quite sure.
“Shit,” I whispered, cautiously turning on the plush bed, careful to not startle the owner of the arm that lay all too casually around my waist. “Shit, shit.” I moved the arm carefully off my waist, putting it beside its owner.
The owner of the arm was none other than Jude Hastings, the boy I’d known since I was eight, and the boy who’d mercilessly teased me throughout school and somewhat into our adult lives.
People, primarily our parents, often called it teasing— a bit of harmless flirting between an adolescent boy and a dorky adolescent girl, so they said. I, on the other hand, referred to it as warfare.
Which would lead to a lifelong war between Jude Hastings and me.
“Fuck,” I stood from the bed and looked down at what was covering my body… It wasn’t much. All I had on was what I’m assuming was Hastings’ button-down shirt, and that was it. No bra, no pants… And I had no clue where my underwear had gotten to. “Pull yourself together, Darcy,” I whispered to myself. “Just find your shit and get out.” I pinched the bridge of my nose, taking five deep breaths. My mother always told me it was a way to destress, but guess what, mom, I am still stressed. “Okay. Pull it together.” I had seven things I had to find in this apartment, and hopefully, it was all contained to this one room. Anything I couldn’t uncover would just have to be left as a sacrifice to the apartment demon.
My pants and top were the easiest to find, laying at the end of the bed a dead giveaway of where Hastings and I had ended our night standing, or at least standing for the most part. I vaguely recall him pulling me off the bed just to bend me over the desk he had pushed against the wall… I guess that counts as sort of standing.
“Jacket…” I crept around the room, trying to find where my favourite corduroy jacket had landed in the thralls of passion I had shared with the still sleeping demon. “Gotcha,” I pulled on the sleeve bringing it out from behind the chair that sat pushed into the corner. Another memory of Hastings and I making out on the very chair flashed through my mind bringing a blush hot enough to make the top of my ears burn. “Shoes, bra and underwear,” I sat on the floor, pulling my jacket over my arms looking around for a sign of any of the missing clothing. I quickly spotted my bra hanging over the bedpost at the top end of the bed. “Ahha.” I pushed up from the floor and padded across the carpet, keeping a keen eye on Hastings to make sure he didn’t suddenly wake up and catch me in the shameful morning after clothes collection. If I was lucky, I’d leave with all my belongings and whatever scraps of dignity I had left. “Four down, three left.” I scooped the bra off the bedpost and shoved it in my pocket. Watching Hastings, I dropped to my knees and looked underneath the bed in hopes of finding at least one of the remaining items, if not all of them. “Shoes.” I gripped the heel on one of my boots and pulled it towards me, half an item down… The second boot was more brutal to get to. I had to crawl at least halfway under the bed to reach it, somehow it had landed so far underneath the bed last night, but at least now I had shoes to wear for my solemn journey home.
Was underwear really that necessary for a journey home? Could I just leave without them? And my purse, I mean, I’m sure any decent human being with any dignity would give it back to someone who’d left it at their house. Still, then again, this was Jude Alexander Hastings we were talking about. He wasn’t known to me for being a decent human being. Besides, cancelling all my credit cards and getting a new I.D sounded a lot more appealing than risking Hastings waking up with me still inside his apartment with minimal clothing.
“Fuck it.” I army crawled backwards out from under the bed, careful not to get any carpet burns on any delicate parts. Trust me, one time of having sex on some carpet, and you know the pain well enough to not do it again. Once I emerged from the pits of the bed, I took a final look around, trying to find the elusive underwear or purse. “Note to self, cancel the credit card.” I stood up and walked to the pile of items I’d begun to form at the end of the bed: pants, top, bra, shoes and jacket. Five out of seven ain’t bad in the grand scheme of things. I mean, was it my favourite purse? Yes, and were they my favourite pair of lucky underwear? Yes. Could I buy more to avoid any further interactions with Jude Hastings? Fuck yes.
“Missing something?” The husky voice that haunted my alcohol-soaked brain startled me into dropping my pants to the floor. I spun on the ball of my feet and looked at him, lazily lying in his bed. The sheet hanging from his waist was the demon man himself. Since when did he have abs? - No, not the point, Darcy.
“Two things actually,” I felt the rush of heat blossoming on my cheeks as I finally allowed myself to look over his bare chest.
“Would these be one of them?” His hand rose, hooked around his pointer finger was my black lace thong, the one I’d been crawling around this whole fucking room looking for. Bastard. “They sure look like yours.” He held the up higher, squinting with one eye.
“If they’re not mine, perhaps they’re yours,” I smirked in self-satisfaction as the smirk on his face faltered. One Edwards.
“Well, if you’re sure they’re not yours.” He bunched them up, leaning over to his bedside table. “I think I’ll keep them then.”
“Wait.” I yelped, springing onto the bed. “Give them to me,” I reached for them. Holding my hand out, waiting for the lace scrap to be returned to me. “I need them to get home.”
“No, I don’t think so.” He dropped them into his bedside table. “You said they were mine.” One Hastings.
“God, I hate you,” My eyes turned to slits as the smirk came back to his face more prominent than the one I’d managed to make him lose moments ago. He shut the drawer and returned to his previous position, his whisky coloured eyes running over my form.
“Not what you were saying last night.”
“Was that before the double shots of tequila? Or was it before the fishbowl margarita?” I moved back, standing at the end of the bed, pulling my pants up over my hips. Usually, I’d feel self-conscious dressing and undressing in front of someone I’d just had sex with. Still, by this point in our lives, Hastings had already made numerous comments about how ‘plump’ I was, as he liked to call it. I didn’t have time to dwell on the idea that I gave him a front-row pass to see how correct his childish name-calling was. “Or maybe it was before the game of beer pong?”
“Yeah,” He dropped his head and laughed. “It started about there.”
“Hastings, you know as well as I do that I don’t remember a thing about last night, right?”
“Would you like me to give you a play-by-play?” I unbuttoned his shirt with nimble fingers. For once, my skill of unbuttoning button-downs came in use.
“No, thanks. I think I can surmise what’s happened from the lack of underwear.” And the memories of him pushing me up against his front door helped with the overall picture.
“It was your idea,” I stole a look at the bedside table where the same old alarm clock I was sure he’d had since middle school sat. Nine-thirty. Shit. Fuck. Shit.
“Was it now?” I didn’t really have time to hear how this interaction was my fault, but I was curious. Even if I was supposed to be meeting my parents for brunch in half an hour, and by the looks of it, I was going to have to suffer through without underwear.
“Oh yeah.” He fell back onto the bed. “The boys and I were at the bar, and you came up to me… You know I was expecting to have another verbal sparring match with you, one I’d ultimately win.”
“Doubtful,”
“When you began to flirt with me.” I could hear the smirk in his voice even with my back facing him.
“Is that so.” I sat on the edge of the bed and picked up one of my boots, unzipping the side.
“Oh yeah,” I heard the shuffle of sheets on the bed behind me and then felt the warmth of his chest pressing onto my covered back, heat radiating from where his skin touched me. “Never expected this from you, Edwards.” He moved my hair to the side, his fingers leaving goosebumps on my neck as he trailed a fingertip along the skin. “Really, I never did.” His lips touched the skin now, ghosting the same pattern his fingertips had traced.
“Alright,” I stood up, balancing on one foot as I tried to shove my foot into the boot. “I don’t know what this.” I wiggled a finger between our bodies. “Is, but last night was all there was. There will be no encore, M’kay.” I knelt down, zipping up the boot before shoving my foot into the second.
“If you’re sure you can live without one.” He moved back to the top of the bed, leaning back on one arm, watching me scamper to make myself presentable. “You know you’re still wearing my shirt.”
“Thank you, Captain obvious.”
“I’d like it back. It’s one of my favourites.”
“And those.” I jutted a finger at the bedside table where my underwear remained captive. “Were my favourite pair of underwear.” I smiled sweetly at him. “So we’ll call it even,” I brushed my hair with my fingers, trying to make some sort of progress with it so it didn’t look like I’d just been to pound town… which apparently from the ache in my legs I had been.
“You know that’s not helping,”
“What isn’t.”
“Trying to make yourself look like you haven’t just had one of the best nights of your life.”
“Bold of you to assume that,”
“Not an assumption. You told me so much yourself last night.”
Fucking Hastings. That’s it, fuck it. I was getting my underwear back. Even if it meant a small game of seduction.
“Look, Jude.” I let my voice drop into a whisper as I walked towards where he lay comfortably. I flung my legs over his body, straddling his waist. I couldn’t help but internally melt when his hands clinging to my waist, pressing me down onto him. I’m human. What can I say? The thin sheet gave everything away, and I had to admit, Hastings was packing more than I thought. Self-satisfaction flowed through me as I saw his eyes widen slightly, his pupils dilating as his fingers moving in circles on my waist. “I want you to know something about last night.” His eyes locked with mine as my right hand held onto his chin, keeping our eyes locked, my left going to the bedside table quietly pulling it open.
“Yeah?” His Adam’s apple bopped as he swallowed.
“Last night was,” I moved his head, so he was looking away from the drawer as my hand began to search for the fabric. “Was something that I…” My fingertips grazed the lace. BINGO! “I’m going to pretend doesn’t exist.”
“Oh really?” His hand quickly left my hip and grabbed around my waist. “Because I’m going to remember every little detail.” The lace slipped from between my fingertips as he flipped us. “Especially every time I open this draw.” I heard the draw slam shut and all hopes I had of leaving with my underwear gone.
“Get off me.” His right hand pulled my leg up and wrapped it around his waist. Oh god… he was good.
“Oh no, you started this.” He laughed, his chest pressing into mine with each exhaled laugh. “I’m just finishing it.”
“I need you to get off me so I can leave Hastings.”
“I dunno, I’m quite comfortable.” His hand pushed the fabric of his shirt up, revealing a tiny slither of my skin. “I like how you look in my bed, a forbidden fruit who doesn’t belong.” I let out a snort. If this was his attempt at flirting, he had a lot of work to do. “But here you are,”
“You are right. I certainly don’t look like the type of girl you’d waste your time on, so how about you let me up, and we pretend this didn’t happen.”
“No, I don’t think I like that idea,” His voice came out in a soft whisper.
“Why?”
“I was always told girls like you,” I felt a rush of enjoyment as his eyes ran over my body, a rush I didn’t want to feel. “The good girls who their parents think their perfect when really they’re the worst of the worst are the best,” It was beginning to be a struggle to concentrate as his fingertips brushed the hair away from my forehead. “And from what I’ve been told, you’re the best of them… So I want to find out myself.”
“Oh really?”
“Really. Why did you come up to me last night?” Why did I go up to him last night because I was lonely? Because I was sick of April talking about her fiancé? Because as much as I don’t want to admit it, verbally sparring with Hastings was a highlight.
“I heard that the reformed bad boys are the best,” His finger dragged along my jawline. “And I heard you’re one of the best.” I countered with a smirk.
“Oh really?” He mimicked.
“You tell me,” His fingertip tapped against my lips. Impulsively I nipped on the tip.
“Let’s play a game.”
“I’m listening.”
“The game to end all of our little games for good… No more practice jokes, no more telling my parents I got some random girl pregnant.” He chuckled.
“Then you can’t egg my car anymore or let down my tyres.”
“Fine.” He conceded. “Then let’s sweet talk,” His lips went to my neck, placing sweet kisses along the skin. “Let’s play fight, talk twenty-four-seven,”
“I’m no good at sweet-talking, and I don’t think I could stand talking to your for so long.” My voice came out breathy as my senses zero’d in on the feeling of his lips.
“Let’s wish each other good morning, and good night every day… We’ll take walks together.”
“I’d prefer a ride on your motorbike.” He let out a chuckle, the skin under his lips practically vibrating from the motion.
“I’ll give you a nickname,” His lips were on my jaw now, my hands we on his back, nails digging into the skin, I’m sure leaving moon-shaped indents. “Let’s hang out with each other’s friends.”
“Your friends are dicks.” His lips dropped close to mine, a chaste kiss being left on the right side.
“We’ll go on dates, talk all night on the phone… I’ll hold you, kiss you.” His lips moved to the other side. “We’ll make love, bang, fuck whatever you want to call it.”
“I’m waiting for the game part, Hastings. Right now, it sounds like you just want me to be your girlfriend. I mean, I know last night was good, but really this good?”
“The game is, Whoever falls in love first, loses.” He finally pulled away, his right hand still rubbing circles on my hip bone.
“Doesn’t seem like much of a game.”
“Then why do you seem so scared?”
Was this asshole serious? I was never scared, especially not when it came to challenging him, beating him.
“I’m not.”
“Then what do you say?”
“So you want to pretend we’re a thing to all of our friends, all of our family, just to make one of us fall in love with the other first for what? Bragging rights and heartbreak?”
“Tell me something.” His lips hovered inches from mine. I could feel the warmth of his breath, and how the hell did he not have morning breath? “How good would it feel to know you conned me into loving you, then breaking my heart,”
He had a point. After all the years of heartache and teasing he’d caused me, it would be fun to break his heart into a million tiny shattered pieces.
“What would we tell everyone?” His body moved against mine as he shrugged.
“That we’ve reconnected or connected whatever you want to say.”
“You really want to do this?” My brow raised in suspicion.
“Make you fall in love with me.” I nodded my head. “Oh hell yeah,”
“Fine.” I smirked. “Let’s play a game.”

Romione and... Pineapple?!
PINEAPPLE
Hermione’s feet were aching a bit from all the walking they’d done the past few days. France had been lovely, both the Magical and Muggle side, and she was thrilled to finally have a look at Versailles. She’d read about it and seen films, but she especially enjoyed walking through the Acquisitions museum portion.
She’d shelled out quite a lot to rent a pair of headphones for an audio tour of the museum, but she quickly gave up on them. It was much more fun to listen to Ron’s take on the works, and then correct him afterwards with mock indignation.
“Charles Le Brun’s ‘Ricordi’ is NOT a painting of people smelling the artist’s fart!”
“Looks like it to me. That one in the red is right judgy about it, considering his haircut.”
“I think that’s a fur hat?”
“Blue turban guy is pointing out poor Charlie Le Brun to the bearded guy. What a snitch!”
“Noo, he’s not!” “That bloke on the left though hasn’t figured out what happened, yet. Smell hit him and his mouth was open and everything. Look at his eyes watering!”
“Stop it!” she gasped, trying to keep a peal of laughter from bouncing off the museum walls.
Tumblr media
They passed more paintings and Ron’s interest began to dwindle as she kept stopping to read the entire description plates. He would walk ahead and report back what was worth seeing or not.
“That room’s just a bunch of vases and plates. Let’s skip it,” said Ron, interrupting her read.
“Oh no! There are some really lovely handmade objects in there!” she said, scampering across the wooden floors.
He gave a sigh and followed her in.
She had to admit, to herself at least, the china rooms weren’t as interesting as the paintings. Ron had a few loud comments about how racist some of the works were, which she agreed with, which gained them a huff from an older American couple they’d run into around the museum a few times.
“What’s with the pineapples?” asked Ron, pointing at a pair of vases.
Tumblr media
“Oh, erm…” she found the description plate and rapidly read it. “Apparently pineapples were a sign of wealth because they were so hard to attain. People would even rent them for parties to show off.”
“They’d rent a pineapple?” Ron laughed. “Rich people are lunatics.”
“They even paid upwards of three thousand pounds to permanently buy just one pineapple.”
“What?” Ron asked, looking at the golden pineapple filigrees. “That’s, like, six hundred Galleons!”
“I can’t even imagine being that silly with money,” she said with a shake of her head.
She went on to look about the room and read the descriptions for other interesting tidbits. A good ten minutes had passed when she realized Ron wasn’t at her side making fun of things, and instead was leaning against a wall looking strained.
“I’m sorry this is going long. We can move on to some paintings,” she offered.
“I just want to get out of here, if that’s alright.”
“Oh?” she asked, a bit thrown. He’d been lovely the entire trip, indulging her at every museum, every church, and every book shop. It was odd that he’d suddenly reached his limit now when they’d been laughing so much. “Erm, I believe I saw a good spot to Apparate to the West. There’s a little hidden alcove there.”
“Yeah, that’d be nice. Thanks.”
She was slightly disappointed, but they’d been touring Versailles for hours, so she had little room to complain. They found the alcove, placed the headphones on the floor, and Apparated with little fanfare to a small nearby village.
Ron quickly found a cozy restaurant with the smell of fresh bread wafting around them. There were children playing in the cobbled street, a bearded old man smoking a pipe as he played chess with what looked like his grandson, and a couple of older women arguing in fast French at a small flower stand. It was picturesque and as big of a contrast from the Versailles museum as she could imagine.
They’d just begun eating some buttered bread when she finally asked what had happened at the palace.
“I expected I couldn’t get out of explaining myself,” he said as he swallowed a large chunk of bread. “It was just… We were in a palace, right? And it’s nothing but over the top frou-frou indulgent buffoonery that I could knock and make fun of because I didn’t have to think of the types of people that would have lived there, but when we got some real context on it all…”
He gave a shake of his head.
“I just couldn’t help but think about Purebloods like the Malfoys and how that’s the sort of thing they’d buy into, you know? There’d be Elves like Dobby trying to find a fucking pineapple for a party for them. And back then everyone’s getting treated like shit as these rich racist peons rent pineapples and decorate golden vases with them. It just made me feel gross thinking about it and being there. I wanted to be where there were real regular people.”
“You wanted to be somewhere like here?”
“Yeah,” he said with a small smile, looking around him before his brow creased with worry. “I hope I didn’t ruin things for you. We can go back if you like!”
“You never ruin things,” she said, putting her hand on his much larger freckled one. “And I like that you’d never rent a pineapple.”
“Certainly not. I’d rather rent erumpent horn like Luna had- much more interesting for a party than a ruddy pineapple.”
“And far more explosive. Actually, pineapples are a nickname for a kind of muggle explosive.”
“Muggles and their pineapples…” Ron said, giving her a smile as he took another bite of bread. “Good thing we aren’t pineapple people, eh?”
“Certainly not!” she agreed with a laugh as they enjoyed their bread and watched the real regular people around them

Ok. So I’ve never been to France (some day I will go there!) and I’m not going to do the research to see what the layout of the Versailles Acquisitions museum is! (Or if it’s even a THING, ok? Or how ‘Ricordi’ is actually displayed. I KNOW NOTHING. I don’t know and it’s a frickin fanfic. So if you know the reality of it, just ignore it and enjoy the story :P

You yawn for the fourth time after clocking into work today and rub your tired eyes. Your exhaustion does not go unnoticed by your boss.
“Long night?” Osamu asks as he finishes restocking the fridge.
“More like long week.” Another yawn threatens to leave your lips and you have to force yourself to stop. “There’s been construction going on near my apartment and the elderly couple next door seems to be having some sort of argument for the past few nights. If they don’t figure their issues out by tomorrow, I’m gonna have to have a talk with my landlord.”
Osamu gives you a sympathetic glance and pats your shoulder. “I hope they do. Can’t have my favorite employee walking around like a zombie every day.”
“I’m your only employee, Osamu-san.”
The man just shrugs his shoulders before giving you a more serious look. “You sure you’ll be okay though? I wouldn't mind if you left early today.”
You waved off his suggestion. “No, I’ll be fine. Plus, we have a lot going on today. I’d rather not leave you to deal with that on your own, especially since the entire team is coming to help out.”
There were only a few weeks before the V. League Championships, so the starting players of MSBY were coming in to volunteer and advertise their big match against the Schweiden Adlers. Atsumu was the one to suggest having this event and his coach seemed to like the idea. It did take a while to convince Osamu to allow anybody to work at his precious restaurant but gave in after his brother promised to wear a giant onigiri costume during the entire event and buy him some Wagyu beef after his next paycheck.
Before Osamu could ask you anything else, the front door to Onigiri Miya was roughly opened and the seven MSBY starting players sauntered inside. Everyone greeted each other briefly and Osamu was just about to get them set up in their spots, but MSBY’s setter had other plans.
Atsumu placed a large bag on top of the counter and took out what looked like picture frames along with a power drill.
Osamu raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing, you scrub?”
“What should’ve been done a long time ago!” Without hesitation, Atsumu approached the wall with all of the autographs from previous customers and began to put up seven other frames. He was clearly still upset about the fact that his brother had autographs of the rival team in his shop, so the blonde decided to take matters into his own hands and hang up signed portraits of himself and his teammates. There were shouts of displeasure from your boss and you’d normally be the mediator between the twins, but you felt too tired at the moment to care.
Meian Shugo, the captain of MSBY, approached the spot next to you and gave you a kind smile. “Hey, (Surname)-san.”
“Hello, Meian-san.” You returned the smile with a small wave.
Your boss wanted to meet up with all the volunteers a week prior to the event in order to teach them what they were responsible for, especially those who were helping with the cooking. Since he had asked you to help out, you were able to meet the three remaining MSBY players for the first time last week as well.
“(Surname)-chan, do you need any help with anything before customers start rolling in?” Inunaki Shion questioned as he skipped over to where you were with his teammate, Adriah Thomas, following behind.
“Actually, we need to set up a few tables outside in case it gets a little packed indoors during the lunch rush. Do you guys mind bringing the tables and chairs outside with me?” You pointed towards the plastic tables that were leaning against the wall.
“Sure thing!” Inunaki briefly translated what you had said to Thomas in English and the latter simply nodded his head in understanding. As Thomas was walking past you to grab one of the tables, he lifted his hands in front of you. You haven’t really been able to speak with him since you weren’t very fluent in English, but he has always tried to be as friendly as possible around everyone and seems to love giving high-fives. You thought his actions were endearing, so you gave him a high-five with an equal amount of enthusiasm.
After grabbing what you needed and stepping outside, you spent a couple minutes directing each of them to where everything was supposed to be set up. Once that was done, you ushered them back inside. “Thanks guys! We’re opening soon, so let me know if you have any questions on what you’ll be doing.”
Unsurprisingly, Atsumu and Osamu were still bickering, but now Atsumu had a large black and white onigiri costume in his arms. “How the hell am I supposed to wear this all day, ‘Samu?”
“Easy. Just put it on and keep it on.” The onigiri chef explained. “Bokuto-san, do you mind helping him put it on?”
“Sure thing, Myaa-san!”
Everyone spent the next few minutes decorating the room with MSBY merchandise or helping Atsumu put on his costume and before you knew it, the first customer had arrived. Multiple voices rang throughout the shop, “Welcome to Onigiri Miya!”
Thankfully, the first couple of hours went by without any issues. You were surprised at how all of the guys were able to adapt to their jobs so quickly.
Normally, the customers take their food from the counter themselves, but for the event, Bokuto and Inunaki served as waiters. They seem to be doing a pretty good job so far and the customers love their amiable personalities.
Atsumu was sent outside to give out fliers and keep watch of the people eating outdoors. He would come back inside every so often to refill on fliers or complain about the onigiri suit, and it usually ended up with him being chased out by Sakusa who was on cleaning duty (“Omi-kun why do you keep hitting me with the broom?!”/”I was told to clean any trash on the ground.”). Sakusa was a bit reluctant to be put strictly on cleaning duty but voiced no complaints when you told him that this job requires the least amount of human interaction.
Hinata and Thomas stayed in the kitchen to assist Osamu with cooking. The three worked quite well together and Hinata would translate anything for Thomas if need be.
You and Meian stood next to each other comfortably. You were doing what you normally did at the register except Meian took over all the phone orders.
Even with fewer responsibilities than usual, waves of exhaustion seeped into your bones throughout the morning. There would be the occasional superfan that would walk in and ask for a picture with all the players while squealing in a pitch that could outmatch a dolphin. Just the thought of it gave you a bigger migraine.
“-san…-rname)-san?...(Surname)-san!”
Your eyes shoot up to Meian who has been calling your name for who knows how long. Apparently, your fatigue was also affecting your reaction time. “Ah! Sorry, Meian-san. Did you need something?”
The tall man eyes you with worry. “Are you okay? You seem distracted.”
“Yeah, I’m okay. Just a bit tired.” You brush off his concern.
He looks like he wants to say more but is interrupted by Hinata who had popped his head in your periphery. “Hey, (Name)-san. Do you know where Osamu-san keeps the olive oil? He stepped away for a moment to check on something and I can’t find it.”
“Oh, yeah. I can get that for-!”
As you turn around from your spot, your vision blurs and you feel your knees give out from the sudden lightheadedness. There are several alarmed voices around you, but you don’t think you can react fast enough to stop yourself from falling over. You prepare for any pain, but before your head could hit the counter, strong arms wrap around your waist.
“(Name)-san!”
Hinata’s voice is right next to you, so you can assume that he is the one who caught you. The poor man looks like he’s about to call an ambulance in panic, so you place a hand on his forearm to let him know you’re still awake.
It seems like all the noise also caused your boss to rush back from whatever he was doing because his figure is suddenly crouched down in front of you. Without warning, Osamu places a gentle hand on your forehead and you involuntarily blush. “Your face is a little red, but it doesn’t seem like you have a fever. You said you weren’t getting enough sleep lately, right?”
“I-I think I just turned around too fast. I’m fine.” You tap Hinata’s arm to get him to let you go and make the effort to stand up on your own to show that you didn’t need help.
Osamu stood up and crossed his arms, his gaze focused on the dark circles under your eyes. “No, you are not. Go to the back room and take a break.”
“I’m seriously okay. Lunch rush is almost here and I don’t want to make things difficult for the other guys,” you argue back.
Osamu doesn’t seem like he wants to back down either. “Would you rather I tell you to leave early? It’s either take a break now or go home.”
After watching you and Osamu go back and forth, Meian felt the need to intervene. “Don’t worry, (Surname)-san. I’ve been with you all morning, so I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do. We’ve got more than enough hands to help out.”
There’s a brief silence as everyone waits for you to say something. You finally let out a defeated sigh. “Alright. I’ll take a break.”
The guys around you feel the tension leave from their shoulders at your compliance.
“But,” you lift up a finger to get their attention, “you have to call me if there are any issues or if you need help with the register.”
“Got it, got it. Now go, (Name)-san.” Osamu walks around you and places his hands on your shoulders as he pushes you towards the back room.
When the door closed behind you, there was an unfamiliar silence permeating the room. You’ve never taken a break by yourself, so you felt slightly uncomfortable. Deciding to just lay on the small couch at the corner of the room, you looked up at the ceiling not exactly knowing what to do during your ‘break’. You didn’t even realize your eyes started to droop until they were fully closed and you entered a deep sleep.
Tumblr media
You stretch your arms as you walk back to the register feeling much more refreshed than you were before and mentally thanked your boss for convincing you to take a break.
There’s a small skip to your step as you get closer to where Meian is, but his strange posture makes you halt. When you look around the counter, there are multiple customers waiting in line and all of them seem to have irritated expressions. Meian has the phone up to his ears and he’s stuttering so much that you can’t even make out what he’s trying to say.
You’re about to reach out to help him, but the front entrance suddenly opens and you can’t help but gape at the sight. Standing in nothing but pants and an apron, Atsumu runs a hand through his blonde locks while sweat runs down his skin. You’re not sure why he’s shirtless or how he got away with taking off the costume, but your focus is once again taken away by another volleyball player.
Bokuto grabs a tray of food that Osamu left out and rushes to one of the tables. In his haste, he accidentally trips over his own feet and everything on the tray is sent flying. Your eyes widen when you witness the owlish man produce an entire front flip in the middle of the tiny restaurant and land it successfully. Although, the food didn’t survive and proceeded to fall right on top of Sakusa’s head with a resounding plop.
“Wow! Bokuto, when did you learn to do that?” Inunaki asks excitedly.
“I’ve been practicing so that I can have a grand entrance at the game!” Bokuto stands proudly, completely oblivious to his seething teammate. Sakusa is absolutely furious and looks like he’s about to blow a fuse.
Atsumu chooses to step in and make an attempt at calming his friend lightheartedly. “Hey, Omi-Omi! You’re overreacting. Just wash it off and call it a day. No need to get so mad at your friend.”
Atsumu’s words only seem to infuriate the dark haired male even more. “Get out of the fucking way, Miya. I don’t need your dumb excuses of friendship. I’m sick and tired of your shit.”
You could almost see the poison being spit out of Sakusa’s mouth as he directed his harsh words at Atsumu. The blonde seemed to have finally snapped as well as he alarmingly lifted one of his fists. Before Atsumu could cause any harm, Osamu grabbed his brother’s arm. You didn’t even notice your boss approach the two.
“‘Tsumu! What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Osamu kept a tight grip on Atsumu as he glared. “Stop being an idiot and calm down.”
Atsumu roughly grabbed onto his brother’s collar with both of his hands. “You expect me to stay calm after hearing that? And, calling me an idiot doesn’t help, ‘Samu!”
You’ve finally had enough of being just a bystander, so you quickly ran around the counter and put a hand on each of the twins’ shoulders trying to lightly tug them away from each other. “Guys, you need to stop. Fighting in the middle of the shop is not going to solve anything.”
You knew that your words alone wouldn’t be enough to relieve their anger, but what you didn’t expect was the arm that harshly swung out in your direction, pushing you into the nearest table. If it weren’t for Bokuto and Inunaki steadying your balance, you could’ve been seriously injured.
“Stay out of this, (Name)-san.” Anger seems to have blinded Osamu and he doesn’t look even the least bit guilty for pushing you. “You’re being annoying. I don’t need you.”
If you could describe the way your heart felt after hearing those words, you would compare it to shattering glass. You knew you shouldn’t allow his words to affect you this much, but your emotions had failed you and all you could do was look down with tears in your eyes. Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t taken that break.
Unfortunately, the universe didn’t seem to want you to even contemplate on your decision when a loud scream was heard from the kitchen area. Everyone in the room watched as Hinata, Thomas, and Meian collectively yelled the one word that could’ve made this situation worse.
“FIRE!!”
Tumblr media
Your body aggressively shot up into a sitting position with your arms outstretched as you let out a startled gasp. A bead of sweat ran down your face and you took a second to take some deep breaths. Once you felt like your heart wasn’t going to jump out of your chest, you took in your surroundings.
You were alone in the back room of Onigiri Miya sitting on the same couch that you must have fallen asleep on when you first walked in. There was a thin blanket on top of your body that you don’t remember having before losing consciousness, but you didn’t wait to dwell on it as you tossed it aside and stood up to go back outside.
Throwing the door open, you steeled your nerves at the potential chaos that you might have to confront after your terrible, anxiety-provoking dream. However, the sight in front of you was... completely normal.
Your boss, being the closest one to the door, was the first person to notice your presence and smiled as you walked up to him. “Hey, (Name)-san. How are you feeling?”
“Uh...better? How’s everything out here?” Your eyes shift around the room to see if anything was unusual. “No raging fire or um...missing shirts?”
Osamu looked at you with confusion. “Not that I know of? It was a bit rocky after you left, but after about an hour everyone adjusted pretty well.”
Your shoulders released their tension at the fact that there weren’t any issues in your absence but immediately tensed back up when you realized what Osamu had just implied. “An hour?! How long was I asleep for?”
“Maybe about four hours?”
“Four-!” Almost choking on your words, you pulled out your phone to check the time and it has indeed been four hours since you started your break. “Why didn’t anyone wake me up?”
“I came in to check on you after about half an hour, but you seem really tired, and as your boss, I need to make sure you’re not overworked or sick.” Osamu brought up an arm to rub his neck sheepishly. “I know how you feel about me being concerned about your health, but I’d rather have you upset at me than risk you ending up in a hospital.”
A pout makes its way onto your face. How were you supposed to be upset if he gave you a reasoning like that?
Taking your silence as a sign to keep talking, Osamu brings his arm down and places his hand on your head comfortingly. “We’re not closing just yet, so you can still help out. I know you don’t like missing out on work, so there’s still some things to get done, if you’re good with that?”
You nod your head eagerly. “Yeah, sounds good. I’ll try to make up for what I missed.”
When you returned to the register, some of the MSBY players welcomed you back happily. Hinata and Meian gave you worried looks but felt reassured when you gave them a cheerful thumbs up. The only person you haven’t seen in a while was Atsumu, so you assumed he was still working outside.
Since holding the MSBY event for an entire normal work day might tire out the players, Osamu had planned to close earlier than usual, which meant that there was only about an hour left before closing. You tried your best to do as much as you could during that hour, even checking up on everyone every once in a while.
Ten minutes before closing, a woman walked in with two young boys by her side. You could make the assumption that they might be twins based on the uncanny similarities between them. Although, one of them seemed much more outgoing than the other based on their mannerisms and the two reminded you of another set of twins. The kids must’ve been playing outdoors before walking in since their hands were covered in dirt.
The mother lightly pushed her sons towards the back of the room. “Why don’t you two go wash your hands in the bathroom, while I order the food?”
“Okay!” The more extroverted twin answered back and ran towards the bathroom after grabbing his brother’s hand.
The woman asks for a to-go order and strikes up a conversation with Bokuto and Inunaki while she waits. After a couple of minutes, there are strange noises and laughter coming from the bathroom. When you looked up, the mother was still standing with the two men, so her sons must still be in the bathroom.
Tapping Meian on the shoulder, you point to the back when he has his attention on you. “Meian-san, could you watch the register real quick? I’m gonna go check what’s going on in the bathroom.”
He gives you a slight nod and you make your way to where all the noise is. The bathroom door is slightly ajar and when you peek in, you see the two boys standing in front of the sink blowing bubbles with their fingers. There was soap and water everywhere. You silently thank the universe for not having you on cleaning duty today.
Not wanting to startle the children, you knock on the door before opening it all the way. You expected the boys to be terrified at getting caught, but when they make eye contact with you over the mirror, their grins widen.
“Pretty cashier lady! Look what I can do!”
The talkative twin plunged his hand in the sink and viciously started blowing bubbles everywhere after taking his hand out. The quieter of the two started running around to avoid getting hit by the bubbles, but miscalculated how slippery the floor had gotten from all the soap and water.
“AH!”
As soon as you saw the boy’s feet slip from under him, you rushed forward and caught him with your own body, saving him from potentially breaking his nose. “Are you okay?”
The young boy turned red at the close proximity and shyly nodded his head while avoiding your eyes.
The ruckus had caused a couple people to check up on what was going on and were surprised to see the state of the bathroom as well as the boy that was tightly gripping onto your shirt. The boys’ mother was also part of the group as she had realized that her sons were taking quite a long time to simply wash their hands.
Rest assured, you explained what had happened and the woman scolded her children before making them apologize for causing such a disruption. The boy you had saved from slipping kept shifting his body weight from one foot to another when a sudden idea popped into his head. He quickly ran out of his mother’s hold and slid open the front door to go outside.
Before anyone could run after him, the boy came back inside just as quickly with a small white flower in his hand. He shuffled over to stand in front of you and held out the flower. “I’m sorry.”
You thought your heart would burst at the cute gesture and knelt down to gladly accept the flower with a warm smile. “Thank you.”
All of the guys around were watching the scene with a smile of their own. Someone quietly leaned over to an unsuspecting Osamu and whispered into his ear, “You’ve got some tough competition, Myaa-san.”
“Bokuto-san?!”
With that, the mother left with her sons after grabbing their food and the day was officially over. All of the MSBY players, excluding Sakusa and Atsumu, sat down at a table together to take a quick break before getting back up to clean. Sakusa begrudgingly went to get rid of the mess in the bathroom and Atsumu was still nowhere to be seen, but no one really seemed to notice at the moment.
Even though you were out cold for a couple hours, it still felt like an hectic day.
“Looks like you just can't get away from ruining your uniform, huh.”
Turning to the side, Osamu walks up to where you are and a smirk is plastered onto his features. True to his words, your uniform was once again soaked with water, but this time, there are remnants of soap as well.
You let out a sigh. “It seems so.”
Osamu nervously looks to the side and shoves his hands into his pockets. “Do you, uh, need something to cover up?”
“Nah, it’s all good. I actually brought an extra uniform shirt just in case anything happened during the event today. Luckily, I thought ahead!” You mentally pat yourself on the back.
“Yeah...lucky.”
“I’m gonna go change in the back room now. I’ll come out to help with cleaning afterwards!” You don’t wait to hear a response and disappear into the back room for the second time today.
At the same time, the entrance slides open and Atsumu, still in his onigiri costume, strolls into the shop. There’s an empty bag of chips hanging loosely from his hands, which he throws away to the nearest trash can.
“Atsumu-san! Where have you been?” Hinata stands up from his chair to walk up to the blonde in curiosity. “And, where did you get those chips?”
“There weren’t any customers outside and I wanted a snack so I went to the nearby convenience store,” Atsumu replies.
Osamu scoffs. “You skipped out on work and went to the convenience store in that?”
“Everyone and their moms in the next 10 mile radius has seen me in this, so what’s the point of getting embarrassed over wearing this down the block?” Atsumu attempts to shrug his shoulders but the suit is too large to make it obvious. “We’re done right? I wanna get out of this thing as soon as possible. You left my shirt in the back, right Shoyo-kun?”
Atsumu began speed walking towards the back room to change and Hinata realized a second too late that his teammate had no idea that you were still inside. The younger male jumped in place and tried to stop Atsumu. “Atsumu-san, wait! Don’t-!”
Unfortunately, Atsumu’s ears didn’t register what Hinata was trying to say in time and he swung open the door. He froze completely when he saw the bare skin of your back before sliding up his gaze to lock eyes with you. You were in the middle of putting on your extra uniform but froze in shock from the sudden entry with only your arms through the shirt, leaving the top half of your body only clad in a bra.
Hinata, who was only able to grab onto his teammate’s arm a second too late, also had a clear view. To make the situation even worse, Sakusa had just finished cleaning the bathroom and had walked out at the same time of the fiasco making him the third person to see you shirtless.
All four of you stare at one another for a second before you snap out of it. A menacing aura seeps out of your figure as your expression darkens. “Close the door.”
“SHIT! SORRY!” Atsumu regains function in his limbs at your tone and slams the door shut.
Hinata covers his fiery cheeks and squeezes his eyes shut but then immediately opens them when the image of you becomes too clear in his mind. He’s muttering incoherent apologies under his breath as if you could sense his remorse through the walls. Sakusa looks down at his mop and remains silent, his own cheeks tinted pink under his face mask.
“What the fuck did you do, Atsumu?”
Atsumu flinches at the coldness of Osamu’s words from behind him. He slowly turns around and meets his brother’s gaze. Osamu was mad.
Not even a second later Osamu’s kicking around Atsumu across the floor in anger. Atsumu opted to pull his arms and legs inside the suit to avoid any injuries. Hinata and Sakusa can only watch from the side. Out of curiosity, even Bokuto joined in on spectating. If this was any other situation, one might even laugh at the somewhat comical sight.
You step out of the back room a minute later fully dressed. No one has noticed you yet, so you just make your way to where the three less problematic MSBY players were sitting. They all watch you with mixed expressions as you sit down on one of the chairs wearily.
“You just can’t seem to catch a break. You good?” Inunaki peers at you with sympathy in his eyes. Thomas lifts up a hand for you to take and gives you a comforting squeeze before letting go.
“Yeah. I’m fine, really. Can’t even say I’m surprised that nothing seems to be calm when I’m around all you volleyball players. I’ve already gotten used to it, though.” You sigh exasperatedly but you can’t stop the small upward curve of your lips as you glance behind you at the chaos.
Meian chuckles. “You know, you’re pretty good at handling their shenanigans. Even with all the work you did today, you still made time to check on everyone. I’d say you’ve got some good managing skills.”
You give Meian a grateful smile at his kind words. He then seems lost in thought for a moment before beaming at you. “Hey, we have a manager position that’s open right now. Would you consider working along with all of us?”
The suggestion caught you completely off guard. You working with MSBY? You can’t deny that the idea makes you curious.
As you open your mouth to respond, an arm is suddenly slung over your shoulders silencing you.
“Sorry, Meian-san. She’s too good of a worker to give up.” At some point, your boss had gotten behind you and eavesdropped on your conversation. He tugs your body a bit closer to his own possessively and looks at Meian straight in the eye. “She’s mine.”
You’re surprised how you haven’t ended up in the hospital with how many times your heart has gone out of control in the last 8 hours. Except this time, a blush accompanies your irregular heart rate.
To save yourself from any potential embarrassment, you shrug off Osamu and cross your arms. “Um, no. I don’t belong to anyone.”
A flash of anxiety runs across Osamu’s eyes. He worries that he might have offended you or pushed you to take Meian’s offer.
Ignoring your boss, you send a small apologetic smile to the older man.” Sorry, Meian-san. I’m pretty happy working here, and I don’t know if I can really commit to a manager position at this time. Thanks for considering me though!”
“No worries, (Surname)-san. Feel free to let us know if you ever do change your mind.” The captain nods his head in understanding and accepts the rejection coolly.
A pained groan echoes through the shop and you turn to the noise. Atsumu is still on the ground looking absolutely drained of energy while Bokuto pokes at his costume with a single metal chopstick. Hinata and Sakusa are still in the same spot from before and make no effort to help Atsumu up.
Meian claps his hands once next to you and his chair screeches against the floor as he stands. “Alright, guys! Break’s over! Our job isn’t done just yet. Let’s get to cleaning!”

Leftovers
You’re just about ready to pass out as you lay in your bed with the lights off. Despite the four hour nap you had today, you still feel drowsy and can’t wait to get some sleep. Luckily, the neighbors seem to have calmed down for the night, so sleep should come easily. As you feel your consciousness slipping from you, you’re suddenly jolted awake by the shrill ringtone of your phone.
Letting out an annoyed groan, you pick up your phone to check who would be calling you so late. However, your irritation dissipates as soon as you read Shirabu’s name on the screen. He isn’t the type of person to call for no reason, so you immediately answer with a bit of a concerned tone, “Hey, Shirabu-san! What’s up?”
“Hello, (Surname)-san. Sorry for calling you so late. My shift just ended and I came across some information you might be interested in.” His words catch you by surprise and you force your body to sit up. “I just spoke to a colleague of mine and they informed me that there’s a program you might be interested in. They’re accepting new applicants at her university.”
“What?! That’s great! Could you tell me more about it?” It’s difficult to keep your voice down with all your anticipation.
Shirabu relays all of the information that his colleague had told him and you quickly shuffle over to your desk and turn on your mini lamp to write down both the website and email needed for the application. He stays silent as you finish writing down everything. You’re about to thank your friend, but he speaks up once again. “Oh, but I think it would be good to mention that the application is due in two days.”
You let out a panicked gasp. Two days?!
“Sorry about letting you know so late. I only found out about this today.” Shirabu’s tone is uncharacteristically apologetic, so you know he’s being genuine about his words. “I wouldn’t have told you about it, if I didn’t think you were capable of finishing it on time.”
After taking a deep breath, your face breaks out into a small smile at Shirabu’s blunt display of kindness. “It’s okay. You don’t have to apologize. I really do appreciate you even letting me know about this at all. Thanks, Shirabu-san.”
Your ears pick up a car door slam, so you assume Shirabu must have gotten in his car to go home. After some shuffling, Shirabu responds back to your gratitude. “No problem. I’m going to assume that you’ll probably want to get started on your application as soon as possible, so I’ll hang up now. Good luck with everything and let me know if you have any other questions.”
Once you’ve both said your goodbyes, the line goes silent. A spark lights in your eyes and all of your previous drowsiness has disappeared. You turn on your laptop and spend the majority of your night working on the application with motivation that you haven’t had in a while.

A/N: it took everything in my soul to not write ‘Inumaki’ instead of Inunaki. Inumaki supremacy (i love me my onigiri boys).
did i write the scene with the baby twins just for the whole scandalous back room exchange. yes. yes i did.
if the bubble blowing bathroom scene reminded you of that one scene in the spongebob movie, you’re on the VIP list

Linkverse writing?? I guess??! It’s a tad simple and rough around the edges, but hey, isn’t everything if you look close enough? I’m proud enough of it to share, so that’s a win in my books!
Title: Tree Trekking Characters: Twilight, Sky, Time, and Wild No warnings for this one (Although highly vague twilight princess spoilers?) “Tags” First meetings - the start of bonding - Sky being a good boy - Time is a little bastard - Twilight is tired
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
“Those look like rain clouds…” Link signed, dreading the thought.
“Ah- I think you’re right.” Feathers replied the same way.
Link winced, but gathered himself quickly after, making sure his adventure pouch was properly attached to his belt. They didn’t need a member of the group complaining AND also him having a loose adventure pouch.
...He sounded like a dork- Goddesses, he was panicking a little wasn’t he? Rain wasn’t a big problem, but on top of everything else it felt like a slap to the face.
He had been snapped to another world, teamed up with two strangers who were also him, apparently, and now it was going to rain.
The little guy had nothing to say either, but that wasn’t anything new.
Taking leading action, Link gathered himself, found his posture and signed to the Link whose Hyrule this apparently was. “Do you know anywhere we could find shelter?”
The little guy turned to look at him, with an expression that made it seem like he had insulted his entire family. “It’s just rain.”
Link sighed. “We don’t have much on us, a town with an inn and a shop to purchase a bedroll or two seems like a good idea.”
The little guy was quiet, before turning around and walking off. By this point Link knew that was his way of saying “follow me.”
He quickly checked Feathers, who with a slight stumble and a check on his items was on his way to follow as well.
With the small one in the lead, followed by Link and Feathers, the day continued like the past few had.
It had been strange, suddenly ending up here with a bunch of strangers like this. With Feathers it had been easy, the guy seemed to have a good heart. However with the little guy it was a different story. He seemed to speak the minimum possible, and didn’t especially want to stay as a group- Making it a daily battle to convince him to keep helping them navigate this hyrule.
Still, they were managing.
“We should probably try to get you a sword too.”
Feathers seemed taken back by this, before smiling awkwardly: “We’ve not run into anything, though, have we? Besides, you two seem quite used to wielding yours.”
“I don’t trust this situation.” Link confessed. “Something is bound to go wrong.”
Feathers gave him a sympathetic look.
“I’m serious.” He insisted. “The air doesn’t just crack and cause people to teleport through time and space. Something bad is in the air.”
Feathers seemed to want to say something to deny it, but couldn’t. He turned his head forwards again, facing where they were going. “I have other weapons.”
Link still felt unsure, but accepted it for now.
A bit more traveling, now down what seemed to be a dirt path, Link felt the silence beginning to grind on him. He clenched his hands to fists, and released them, repeating this action a few times to calm his nerves. When it wasn’t enough, though, he shook his head and fastened his walking pace.
This way he caught up to the small guide, and signed: “Can you share the route with me? I’d like a better understanding of what to expect.”
The kid looked annoyed again, but after a moment replied: “Kakariko is down this road, to the west until we reach a big rock, and then down the road next to it.”
“Thank you.” He said, breathing with purpose to calm himself, as he fell back behind to walk next to Feathers again.
It had been a long time since he had panicked like this last. It had been at a cell, in a strange body and shackled to the floor. It had been when Midna’s hold on his fur had weakened further as he tried to be faster despite the pain. It had…
Link sighed. He’d survived all of those, he had been hurt, but he survived. He could handle yet another journey to an unknown world. This is fine.
The little guy disappeared in that second.
Link blinked.
The kid had genuinely disappeared- One moment he was there, the next he wasn’t.
This was not fine, actually.
“Where did he go?!” He signed frantically to Feathers.
“I don’t know!” Feathers responded, equally bewildered. “Did I see that right?! Did he-”
“Did he vanish…?” He signed as well, turning to look at the spot again.
“Maybe-” Feathers, panicking much more clearly than Link was: “Maybe he got sent to another world, like we were.”
“That beats him being dead.”
Feathers was shaken by that addition, but Link ignored it in favour of walking over to where the kid had been and looking around. It was of no use, of course, but he felt powerless and not doing anything felt wrong.
Not again- Not again-
There was a loud crack inside his ears, and the space between him and Feathers looked like it was cracked glass. This strange scene lasted as long as it took it to arrive, and in the next moment: instead of reality looking broken, there was another boy.
This new stranger took a hitched breath, taking a quick step backwards, Having immediately noticed Link. The step however lead him right into Feathers, which caused the stranger to yelp and manifest a blade twice his size from blue light.
Feathers threw his hands in the air, panic filled eyes looking between the armed boy and Link.
Link breathed in and out, as he moved to walk around the newcomer and next to Feathers, with his hands up in the air as well. He hoped that moving from behind the stranger would make him realize he didn’t care for that tactical advantage, and was looking for peace.
The stranger watched, the weapon still in hand, but took no action.
“Are you-” Link signed: “L-I-N-K?”
The stranger’s eyes grew suspicious with each letter, and Link figured he had made a mistake of some sorts.
Quickly trying to bridge the miscommunication, he added: “So are we.”
The stranger shook his head, which wasn’t ideal.
“No?” Link signed. “What do you mean no?”
To that the stranger didn’t seem to have an answer for. Simply shrugging like it was obvious.
“He’s being honest.” Feathers joined in. “We’re both Link, the hero of courage.”
After eyeing the two over like they had lost their minds, the stranger sighed. “I don’t believe you.” He signed. “But I’m also not sure where I am.”
“That’s fair.” Link supposed. “We’re willing to share our information.”
“Spill it, then.”
Tumblr media
After explaining their understanding of how they got here, and what they were doing, the stranger sighed and agreed that going to a town would seem smart in his eyes as well.
However he chose to walk behind Feathers and Link, which Link couldn’t blame him for. He had his own fair share of paranoia of the situation, after all.
Besides, he’d know if the kid tried to approach with a blade in hand, he was awfully good at keeping an eye on his surroundings.
Not good enough, though. Despite following the route the first angry kid had given: they somehow got lost anyway. Sure they found a big rock, but there was no path near it that led to anywhere other than more wilderness.
“Did we misunderstand?” Feathers asked him.
Link furrowed his brow, unsure of the answer. He was quite sure they had gone the exact route the kid described.
The newcomer whistled suddenly, causing the two older to turn and look at him.
He seemed annoyed, and signed: “Is this a trap?”
“I mean, if it was we wouldn’t tell you.” Feathers signed back, at which Link elbowed him.
“It’s not a trap. This is neither of our Hyrule, so we don’t know where things are. The person who gave us instructions either forgot something or we failed to follow it right.”
The stranger crossed his arms, and pouted. Suspicious.
Link, wanting to hit his head against the trees until he could disappear from this situation, tried to breathe in and out and figure this situation out before anything worse happened. “We can probably try and find it on our own.”
“Oh, true.” Feathers replied, smiling again.
“Alright.” The newcomer accepted, still tense.
“Great.” Link responded, tired. “What does everyone here know about scouting?”
Feathers looked a bit flustered, and admitted: “I spent most of my life on a single island- In the sky.”
“Ok.” was all Link could muster.
“I’m okay at it.” The newcomer said, looking a bit less confident than before. “I know what signs to keep an eye out for.”
Link nodded at this. Back in the day he could’ve asked Midna to change his form so he could simply smell the strange scent that towns had, but that stopped being an option a long time ago.
He could still manage with human senses. He had done so for the majority of his life.
So after they pooled their knowledge of what to look out for, they began trekking forwards. Although it was more the two actually experienced people describing some basic things to the one from the sky.
After one man-made path diverged into two, the tired air of the group only grew worse.
“So- Which way?” Feathers asked, trying to not cause anymore tension with the question, by smiling gently.
The newcomer lifted the strange slate he had on his belt, and used it to get a better look forward. It wasn’t enough, though: “The foliage is too thick, I can’t see where either of them leads.”
Feathers pouted.
Link, quite frustrated at this point, signed simply: “Just one thing we can do, then.” And proceeded to scan the area for the tallest tree.
Feathers looked in mild curiosity as Link walked up to an alright specimen, and proceeded to climb it with almost no trouble. Branch to branch, and a good grip on the wood while still being mindful of it’s well being.
From high up he could take a far better look around the area, and found his nerves eased as he spotted smoke from further on and down the right path, as well as the gentle breeze that flowed freely up there. He smiled, despite himself, and climbed back down.
Once he landed with a gentle thud, he let Feathers know what he had seen, before turning to look at the newcomer.
He had stayed by the path, unlike Feathers who had gone to wait for him at the trunk of the tree, and was looking at him with what Link would describe as surprise.
“I was raised on a farm.” Link stated, feeling actually a little up for joking, before he started walking down the right path.
The journey went alright, and although the smoke turned out to be from but a small cottage, it meant they weren’t entirely on the wrong track. Someone was able to live here, so it would mean a town could exist nearby as well.
The newcomer, who hadn’t said much, spoke up another few minutes into the walk, as they tried to decide between three paths this time. “I could climb this time?”
Link was a little surprised, but nodded and gave him a supportive smile. “Go for it.” It was nice seeing the hostility gone, and in its place a want to help.
What he saw then, was… Unexpected. The newcomer proceeded to pick a tree at ease, and then climb at a speed Link had never seen before. It was extremely impressive, and somewhat terrifying.
“Woah.” Said feathers.
Link nodded, slow and stunned.
When the kid returned to ground level- With a thud and an expert landing to boot -he explained that with the zoom on his slate he was able to spot a town. He wasn’t sure which path would lead to it, but if the rest were fine with just going to that general direction until they got to it, he’d be able to lead them.
Feathers and Link approved of the plan, and now followed after the newcomer who was walking forth, at times checking the slate.
Feathers began to talk to him about beacons, apparently something on the slate reminded him of his adventure. Link tuned it out due to not really getting it, and breathed in the forest air.
This was all very strange, but it was nice that no-one was being a grump for once.
At sunset they reached the town, and having moved along with the rain cloud, it only caught up to them at the village gates.
Link gave the newcomer a pat on the shoulder, which surprised him. “Good work.” He signed before heading forward to look for an inn.
Tumblr media
The rain only caught them when they had a roof above their heads, as they had moved in the same direction as it had been heading.
Sitting in a shared room, there was that strange snap-crack again, and the other kid was back. Strange face markings as clear on the face of annoyance as always.
The newcomer didn’t disappear, so their three person room had just become crowded.
“Oh.” The kid commented, looking at them all, including the newcomer. “You made it.”
“...Were we not supposed to?” Link asked.
“I gave you the wrong directions.”
Link blinked. He was stunned, having trouble processing the situation. Not because it was so unexpected, but because he hadn’t seen it coming despite how obvious it was this kid wouldn’t help them properly.
“Why?!”
“I didn’t want you to find the town.”
“Again, why?”
“I don’t trust you.” The response was instant.
Link sighed, it wasn’t a reason he could exactly fight.
Giving up, he sat down on one of the beds. This was going to be a stressful adventure, wasn’t it? He lent back a bit, looking at the ceiling. He couldn’t deny the truth of that question, but a part of him wasn’t entirely bothered. It had been a while since he’d slept in a room with another living being.

Meeting and Dating Randall “Pink” Floyd
Tumblr media
(Excuse the shit gif)(Requested by anonymous)
(Fun fact: I had no idea Jason London had a twin and literally just found that out)
- You and Pink met for the first time after you missed your bus. He’d just finished talking with his friends and was heading out to his car when he noticed you stressing over the payphone, trying to fish quarters out of your bag so that you could possibly get a friend to pick you up.
- You were just about ready to walk home when he tapped you on the shoulder and asked if you were alright. Sighing, you gave him a quick rundown and he immediately offered to give you a ride. You were a tad hesitant, mostly because you didn’t want to be a bother to someone you barely knew but he insisted, telling you that it was no problem.
- A wave of relief washed over you and you gratefully thanked him, following him as he led you to his car. To be clear, you did know of him. You vaguely recalled your friends telling you about him and how nice he was, and of course you’d seen a few of his football games so it wasn’t like you were just hopping into a total strangers car.
- The thing about Pink is that he’s pretty much friends with everybody. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what clique you’re in; he’s down to chat and he’s pretty damn good at it. You’d expected at least a little discomfort and awkwardness during your car ride but there really wasn’t any. He was as sweet as could be and you found yourself actually really enjoying the conversation he’d started.
- Once you arrived at your house, you thanked him profusely to which he only laughed and assured you that it was no trouble at all. Before he left, he gave you a smile and said he’d see you around school. As he pulled away, you realized that you might have unwillingly developed a crush on the boy. ...Little did you know he felt the same.
- When you went to school the next day you hadn’t really expected anything to happen. You figured that he’d given you a ride and that would be that but as you were putting your things in your locker you felt a familiar tap on your shoulder. You turned a bit and there he was, standing behind you with a smile that made you melt.
- He greeted you and asked if he could walk you to class to which you obviously agreed. This sort of thing continued on for nearly a week before he stopped you outside of your classroom and asked if you’d like to come hang out with him and his friends after school. You weren’t about to pass up an offer made by a boy you were really starting to crush on so you said yes. He smiled and told you he’d meet you by your locker after the final bell.
- You spent the entire day anticipating the moment school let out. The instant the bell rang it took everything you had in you not to shoot out of your seat and run down the halls. You took a second to relax, checking yourself over before you started the short trip to your locker.
- By the time you made it there, Pink was already leaned against the lockers beside yours waiting for you. You got your things and the two of you headed out to his car, driving over to where his friends were meeting.
- Once you got there, he introduced you to everyone and excused himself to talk with the guys for a few minutes. You spoke to some of the girls in your grade before he came over and stole you away, leading you to a more secluded area where the two of you could chat in private.
- Prior to this, you only ever really had short conversations so you were more than happy to finally start getting to know each other better. As the two of you sat down, he jokingly proposed that you play twenty questions. You responded “ask me anything” and so the game began.
- For a while, you were both just asking whatever came to mind: what’s your favorite color, favorite food, favorite subject, favorite band, etc. Then you got to the good stuff, the questions that prompted jokes and stories which had you laughing till you nearly cried. It was after one of these stories that he got to ask the question he’d been saving all week.
“When’s the last time someone took you out for dinner?”
“Hmmm,” you laughed, tapping your chin as you pretended to think. “I don’t know. I can’t remember.”
“How about tonight?” You nearly choked on your drink.
“Tonight?” You questioned, wanting to make sure he was saying what you thought he was saying.
“Or now or whenever....” he added, shrugging his shoulders as he attempted to appear nonchalant.
“Yeah, sure. I’d really like that.”
A smile spread across his face as you agreed. “Great,” he told you. “So I’ll pick you up at six?”
- Later that day, he took you to the drive-in and bought you that dinner he’d promised. The two of you went bowling afterwards and you ended the night with a long kiss in the parking lot.
- After a few more dates the two of you became official and you were both as happy as could be.
- There’s not a ton of pda in your relationship but he makes sure everyone knows you’re together.
- Hanging out on the moon tower.
- He’s always ready to defend you when things suddenly go south.
- He’s constantly subtly looking out for you. He always has you walk in front of him so he knows where you are, asks a bunch of people if they’ve seen you when you disappear somewhere, walks on the side of the sidewalk closest to the street, etc.
- It’s the little things that show you he cares.
- He can cuddle any which way you want but he’s a pretty big fan of laying his head on your chest while you thread your fingers through his hair. He’s a big baby but you’re the only one allowed to know that.
- When you want to be cuddled he pulls you into his side and traces patterns down your hips and thighs.
- Goodbye kisses.
- Handholding.
- Handshakes.
- Sitting on the back of his car with him.
- Getting him to think more rationally and stop overreacting about the sign up sheet or whatever else is bothering him.
- Inside jokes.
- Playing with his necklace.
- Constantly swapping cars throughout the night.
- It was the 70′s, everybody smoked weed, and he has a pretty good dealer so if you want to try a little bit of the devils grass then he’s down to supply you with it.
- Concert dates.
- Late night cruising.
- Sometimes he’ll stumble through your window late at night or really early in the morning, a little drunk and wanting to cuddle... or fuck.
- Early, early morning drives where the two of you are still a little buzzed but also tired.
- Cheering him on at his games even though he isn’t fond of playing.
- Hanging out on the football field.
- Ruffling his hair.
- Doing a lot of stupid, reckless shit together.
- Making out a lot.
- He’s a horny boy, especially when drunk, so be prepared to be felt up every once and a while, or at least for him to attempt to.
- Let’s not forget that Pink cheated in his girlfriend, alright? Scummy move, obviously, but I feel like their relationship wasn’t the greatest to begin with? Like he really did not seem into her at all 90% of the time and she seemed like she knew exactly what was up whenever he was doing something. So I feel like under different circumstances he wouldn’t cheat on his girlfriend.
- He flirts and teases you a lot. He loves getting you all shy and flustered.
- Hearing about all the crazy shit him and his friends get up to, he just scratches the back of his neck and shoots you shy smiles when you look over at him.
- Laying your head in his lap.
- Sitting on his lap, he sits really far back in his seat in general so you’re always able to gently plop yourself down without any fuss.
- Since Pink is a bit of an overreacter I can imagine he gets quite jealous. When he does, he doesn’t say anything but he noticeably watches you and the guy until you come over to him.
- When you’re fighting, he gets super passive aggressive and annoying so you tend to just sigh and give up after a while. Give him some time  to himself and hope for the best, that’s all I can say.
- He really can’t stand seeing you cry. He hates when you’re upset, he always gets super uncomfortable and just tries his best to cheer you up as quickly as possible.
- Whenever you have a test, he always tells you not to worry and that you’ll do great. He likes being able to calm you down and be the reason you feel better.
- Constantly being introduced to new people since he makes friends every other minute.
- Hanging out at the emporium.
- Going to parties with him.
- Double dates with Michelle and Pickford.
- He has a habit of holding/pulling you by the belt/belt loops.
- Watching him and Dons little comedy routines.
- Being gently rough with each other, like he’ll “tackle” you down and start making out with you or you’ll slap each others hands away to keep each other from something.
- Letting him rant when he needs to, even if you think what he’s getting upset over is a little silly.
- Spending entire nights together.
- Jamming out to rock albums and going to the record store together.
- Playing pool and Foosball together.
- He’s really good at charming your parents and other relatives. Leave it to him, he’ll make them fall in love with him in the span of a barbecue.
- He loves when you gently touch him. Brushing something off his cheek, pulling something from his hair, things like that. He has and will always melt when you do.
- Letting him copy off your homework and notes when he ditches class.
- He says “I love you” sparingly so it always means a lot when he does say it.
- You don’t really talk about the future but he’s convinced it’s going to be much better than high school... maybe because you’ll be married?

6 & 7 + GenGeal?
Ignore my inability to read last I requested bc I didn't realize I was supposed to send two of the prompts, whoopsie
Rules: Send me two (2) tropes from this list + a ship and I’ll describe how I’d combine them in the same story.
6. Bookshop AU
7. Florist AU
No problem with that. I misread stuff all the time.
Angeal and Genesis were childhood friends. Emphasis on were. They did everything together for years. Then it changed. It was a combination of multiple things. Genesis's parents didn't really approve of Genesis being best friends with their gardener's son. They started pushing the two apart. Then Angeal's father died very suddenly...and it changed Angeal. Genesis didn't like it. He wanted things to go back to the way they were. Later he'd realize he was an ass and had no idea what death or grief really meant. Angeal broke off the friendship, telling Genesis he was mean now and he didn't want to see him anymore. Genesis was infuriated by that and swore he'd never forgive Angeal. He lied about that. When he heard Angeal and his mother were moving he ran over before they left and told Angeal he was sorry and please not to go. Angeal smiled and said he forgave him, but he was leaving because he was going to school somewhere else. They hugged goodbye, but Genesis still felt betrayed for some reason.
Genesis spent a lot of his teenage and young adult life being a "disappointment" to his parents. He didn't like business, had no interest in being a doctor, and hated the idea of practicing law. Those were his three options. Instead he lost himself in his school library and began to believe in the power of books more than money. Books told truths and lies, stories and histories and each had a power for a different person. He loved them, he wanted to share that. His parents completely cut him off when he said he was opening a bookshop. He didn't care. He lived above it for three hard years, barely making ends meet, but he had the books and he felt happy for the first time since he lost his friend. But through enough hard work, his shop starts to have some success. He gets very proud of his shop, especially when he expands. Then again when he adds several tiny libraries to the front.
Genesis was eyeing the lot down the road when it was suddenly snatched up. He was only a little bitter about that. At least it wasn't a rival bookshop. He grumbled when he saw a good half get dug up and some plants starting to come in next to the building. It was a some sort of greenhouse. He'd have to close a lot of his windows now or he'd get infested with bugs. He feels like a snoop watching the building and garden go up. Once the sign is there Genesis has a pretty good idea who his neighbor is: It's a flower shop, they grow and sell their own flowers. Not really competition. Genesis even thinks maybe they're get more people on the street for his books. But he pretends he's not happy about it.
He gets more pissy when a help wanted sign goes up about the same time as he's putting his up. He just now is getting enough to get some help and now the flowers are getting more takers than him. Luckily, Genesis does get his help with a young Tifa Lockhart, wanting out of the bartending business. She's tough and strong and is just great with customers. The flower shop gets some girl to really tend the garden. Genesis still doesn't know who is the real owner, at least not until he gets bumped into restocking one of the libraries out front. He's carrying some boxes when he nudges into Genesis on accident. He apologises and Genesis sees...someone really familiar. "Angeal...Hewley?" he says, not believing his eyes. Angeal smiles and nods, but doesn't seem to recognize Genesis in turn and keeps going. Genesis is super pissed about that.
Genesis ire doesn't really fade when Angeal steals his tiny library idea and put out little baskets of his flowers for people walking by to just take. Genesis sends Tifa out to take some. She does a great job making a pretty floral arrangement on the libraries. Unfortunately, Tifa keeps running into Angeal's helper...and the two hit it off almost immediately. How is Genesis supposed to keep this petty war alive if Angeal and Aerith are so goddamn nice? He really admits Aerith is nice, she brings a bunch of flower books for the libraries and it really adds a nice touch. Angeal keeps giving Genesis friendly waves, though never really greets him. That just steams Genesis. How dare Angeal forget him and then just pretend it's not a big deal.
Genesis goes out to refresh the flower displays for the tiny libraries...when he notices a new book is there. Some passages are marked. He looks up at his flowers...then at the book, then back at the flowers. His temper flares up. He stomps over to the flower shop and bursts in interrupting Angeal and Aerith. "If you wanted to tell me something you didn't have to use your dumb secret flower language." Angeal smiles, "well I wanted to get your attention properly Genesis." "I KNEW YOU REMEMBERED ME YOU LIAR," Genesis explodes. Angeal laughs. He and Genesis hug, one to make up for almost ten years apart. Angeal is so proud of Gen's bookshop, it's exactly what he hoped Genesis would be up to. Genesis demands he come over often enough to make up for this god-awful prank. But he seems happy when Angeal agrees.

Day 21: Prinxiety (pt 2)
@tsshipmonth2020
Day 21: Combine two soulmate prompts. (This will make sense soon, I promise.)
It’s the sequel you’ve all been waiting for! This is the second part to day 16 (read that first!!!!!), and y’all finally get to see what happened to Virgil! Please heed the trigger warnings below.
TRIGGER/content WARNINGS!! Anxiety, food mention, crappy foster system/group homes, implied past abuse, religious guilt/negative view of religion, homophobia, conversion therapy/abuse, starvation, sneaking medication (antipsychotics/side effects), electrocution, seizure, ambulance. I’m sorry.
Word count: 3.8k
Unlike most kids in the foster system, Virgil didn’t know his birthday. He knew it was sometime in December, but that didn’t do much. Technically, birthdays weren’t really a huge thing anyways, not when the group home he rarely left was awfully underfunded, and a party came second to little things like working sinks and clothes without holes. Even still, all the other kids at least got a little cupcake and a half hearted birthday song on their special day, and his festivities were pushed onto Christmas. He didn’t get a weak excuse for a celebration, because the other kids ‘found it unfair’ that he got that and Christmas in the same month. To prevent an upheaval, the workers told him that he’d just have to be happy with what he got.
But it wasn’t fair, because some kids got Easter and a birthday, or Halloween and a birthday, or New Years and a birthday, and poor Virgil didn’t. The fact of the matter was, they plain didn’t like him. The other kids didn’t like that he got extra free time because of his anxiety, or was allowed to leave the table when they weren’t, and they especially didn’t like he was the youngest of the bunch. The youngest had the highest chance of getting adopted, it was just facts, so they had seemingly decided that if his stay here would be the shortest, it would be the most tortured.
It wasn’t the shortest stay, though. With his barrage of anxiety related issues and group-home-toughened demeanor, no foster home wanted to deal with him. He was snarky, ran away, regularly got in fights with the biological children of the parents, and was promptly labeled a problem child. Eventually, it was deemed easier for him to just stay in a group home until he outgrew the system, since he seemed set to escape every other place. Virgil tried to pretend it didn’t hurt as much as it did; it was his fault, after all. As he watched all his older tormentors grow out of a crooked system, he resigned himself to the same fate. After all, he was almost sixteen now, and he knew his chances were out. So he stayed stuck in his group home, lashing out at his caretakers and therapists, refusing to eat unless it was alone in his room (technically, three kids slept in there, but he so rarely left it, and they wanted to avoid him, it was unofficially deemed his room), and listening to music on his phone.
He’d been given the phone on his fifteenth birthday, a gift from one of his caretakers. It was the cheapest piece of crap he’d ever seen, glitched out every other minute and needed to be charged at least three times a day, but it was a phone nonetheless. Granted, he had no one to text. But he had access to a computer, a totally one hundred percent legal music downloading website, and a strong sense of determination, so he’d soon filled the phone’s entire measly storage with all the music he could cram on the thing.
That’s what he was doing on the night of December 18th, listening to his “Emo Playlist” on a pair of $4 Dollar Store earbuds, laying on his bed and finding shapes in his popcorn ceiling as the moon shone through the window. In the bunk beds across the room from him, his two other roommates were fast asleep, but he couldn’t follow suit. It was sadly normal for Virgil to have sleepless nights where no matter what, his anxious brain just wouldn’t shut off, and it just felt like one of those nights. His hands shook and his eyelids flinched every few seconds for no reason, so he turned the music just a little bit louder and tried to calm his breathing.
It was just past 1 am when his life changed forever.
He was on the fourth cycle of his playlist, eyes no more heavy than hours before and just as flinchy. It was just entering the “existential crisis” time of the night where he started questioning reality, and he was about to give in and start letting his mind drift to darker places, when a song distinctly not his began to play in the midst of a song switch.
How can you miss someone you’ve never met?
Because I need you now but I don’t know you yet,
But can you find me soon, because I’m in my head,
Yeah, I need you now but I don’t know you yet.
He froze, eyes suddenly wide open, and yanked the earbuds out of his ears. The song continued; not in his headphones, but in his head. It didn’t take an idiot to realize that it was his soulmate, responding, and as an afterthought, Virgil suddenly identified that today was probably his birthday. Both amazing revelations, but one was slightly more time sensitive.
Desperately scrolling through his playlists as the song stopped after the chorus, he tried to find a song that would be an adequate introduction to this new person. When his eyes landed on a song from his Adele phase (he didn’t talk about that time) that he hadn’t had the energy to delete yet, he simultaneously groaned and grinned. Subtly meme-y, heartfelt like the song his soulmate had played, a decent greeting. He tapped play.
Hello,
It’s me.
He hoped his soulmate had the same sense of humor of him and had actually given a laugh, since he was trying to stifle laughter behind his sleeve to avoid waking the sleeping kids. He paused after the first verse, since he didn’t really want to remember that phase of his life more than he had to, and waited for the other to play the next song. Hopefully they could work out some sort of rhythm, play songs back and forth. He for sure wouldn’t be able to sleep now.
(The next song his soulmate played was an almost atrocious obviously-musical-theatre song that almost made Virgil hit his head against the wall, so he retaliated with a favorite of his, the most ear assaulting screamo he could find on his playlist.)
The clock had just passed four in the morning when there was a small pause in the routine, before his soulmate played a children’s lullaby. It definitely wasn’t something you’d listen to in everyday life, so Virgil could only assume it was the other’s way of indicating that they had to sleep. As if I’m going to let you go that easily, Virgil smirked, opening YouTube and begging that the video he’d chosen would play without an ad.
It did, filling his crackling, cheap earbuds with the opening chorus of Baby Shark. Fight fire with fire, he decided, chuckling to himself as he turned off the song just before the ‘mommy shark’ verse. Silence filled his head and he mentally wished the other a good night, turning onto his stomach and screaming into his pillow, grinning madly.
Eight months later, their new way of life was deeply imbedded into him; getting woken up at asscrack o’clock in the morning by a worker who wanted to be there as much as he did, and either playing his morning playlist to get himself slightly more ready to face another monotonous day or waiting in silence until his soulmate woke up and played their own music. He’d begrudgingly started to even enjoy the showtunes. Everyone around the home had noticed his gradual shift in attitude, and he couldn’t help the natural smiles that pulled at his cheeks when a new song played out of nowhere. It got to the point where his therapist noticed his lifted mood, and the other kids stopped avoiding him and, unknown to Virgil, his social workers decided that he was ready to try another foster home.
That’s why, eight months later, there was a knock on his bedroom door and his main worker poked in her head, asking him to come downstairs. He’d been playing music for his soulmate, so he silently apologized and joined her at the dining room table, giving her a half hearted smile.
“Virgil, we’ve found a new home for you. A foster home that specializes in… harder to place cases. They’ve opened their doors to you, and we’re hoping to get you into a trial period there within the next week.”
At first, Virgil vehemently refused. No. He didn’t want to go back to foster homes, not after… everything he went to in the first few. The ones that hurt him, the ones that were more densely crowded than group homes, the ones that turned him into the angry shell he was before he had met a sign of a possibly happy future. He didn’t want to lose the progress he’d made.
But Bev looked so hopeful, so pleadingly at him, that he gave in after three days of denying. He said goodbye to the kids he’d unfortunately grown attached to, threw his few belongings into a black garbage bag, and got into his worker’s car for the first time in years. Just rebuckling that seatbelt caused a shudder to run up his spine.
------1 month later------
“Virgil, what are you doing? Do you have earbuds in? We’ve made it abundantly clear that you are not to have technology at the table.”
Virgil fought every urge in his body to roll his eyes, flicking his hair behind his ears to show they were empty. It had gotten long and shaggy, just reaching his jaw in the back. “No earbuds. My soulmate’s listening to music, and it’s catchy.” Frankly, he was surprised he hadn’t been caught bopping along to silence before by the stiflers.
They were nice enough, a woman and a man and their two biological children, but they were too religious for Virgil’s liking. He’d never had qualms with religion before, but he had grown tired of spending Saturdays and Sundays (his only days off from their homeschool regime) in a church, surrounded by older people singing repetitive songs and being yelled at by a guy on the pulpit. Faking being sick only worked so many times before they refused to listen to his excuses. They also insisted he go to a specialized youth group on Tuesdays, but that was easy enough to escape. He just waved by and booked it to the closest 7/11 when they left, making sure he was back at the church by the time it was over and made up some bullshit about the gathering. Jameson, the attendant at the gas station, was becoming the closest friend he’d ever had.
“Your soulmate?” One of the children asked around a bite of toast, spitting a decent amount onto Virgil’s sleeve.
“Like daddy and I, Mariam.” The woman explained briefly, not bothering to chastise her about speaking with her mouth full.
“Yeah.” Unlike most of the kids at his old group home, he wasn’t warming up to theirs. They were too spoiled, too bratty. One had even bit him in his first week here and he was still bitter about it.
“When did you connect with yours, Virgil?” The question wasn’t asked kindly, more for the sake of being polite, and he assumed if he didn’t answer in an equally polite tone, they’d probably make him paint a fence or something.
He knew they cared about his bond about as much as he did about theirs. Which was approximately none. The mom took her children’s empty plates and placed them in the sink, Virgil quickly following suit. No use losing more computer time because he didn’t clean his plate.
“Last December. I didn’t even know it was my birthday, and they started playing music out of nowhere. It was pretty cool.” He finished rinsing off his plate and was confused at the sudden stillness in the room.
“‘They’?” The mom asked, giving her husband what she must have believed to be a subtle glance.
“Uhm… yeah?” Virgil said slowly, “I’m bisexual. So I’m not sure if my partner’s a guy or a girl or… something in between. So… they?”
He stared with rising anxiety as the two parents had a silent interaction over the kitchen island, before the dad stood up. “Kids, plates in the sink and then go get ready for church. Virgil, you too.”
There was minimal whining as the younger ones did as they were asked, racing each other up the stairs. Virgil followed, slower, listening to hushed beginnings of a conversation, unable to fight the feeling that he’d just royally fucked up.
------------------------
“Virgil, may we speak with you for a moment?”
He froze, slowly turning from where he’d been half way up the stairs. They’d just wrapped up lessons for the day (Virgil never thought he’d miss an actual school building before, but alas) and the kids had been excused, leaving just him and the parents behind. It had been almost a week since the incident, and a part of him had been hoping they’d just drop it. There wasn’t much they could do, anyways; if their religion conflicted so badly with his sexuality, the worst they would do is send him back to the home anyways. In all honesty, he kind of hoped they would. He was sick of being here, and it was better for his record if he didn’t run.
Not that it mattered much anymore. He was almost aged out of the system anyways.
He took a cautious seat back at the dining room table, which they had just cleared from classes. The mom sat back in her chair, eyeing him carefully, as the dad began to speak.
“We spoke with our pastor the other day, and we think it would be best if we put you in therapy.”
“I don’t…” He’d stopped regular therapy at the group home almost a month before coming here, and he couldn’t imagine why he’d need to go back. He definitely wasn’t happy here, but he didn’t figure a grumpy mood was enough to warrant counseling. “I don’t understand.”
“After… what you told us? About your… urges-”
“Urges.” He couldn’t help his own disgusted tone. Of course they were homophobic.
“Yes. Our pastor suggested we try conversion therapy.”
Virgil scoffed, but he couldn’t ignore the way his heart started pounding, “Right. As if you could ever get my social workers to approve that. Ward of the state, remember?” He tapped his chest a couple times.
“Fortunately, we already talked to your social worker, Virgil. We had it approved just this morning.” The man finally stopped, as if waiting for a response.
Virgil’s eyes grew wide as he looked frantically between the two of them, the woman quickly avoiding eye contact. That wasn’t normal.
“There’s no way in hell that you-”
“Profanity, Virgil!” The man barked and Virgil shrank back in his chair, impulsively ducking to avoid a fist that didn’t come. They hadn’t hit him so far, but old habits die hard. “We’ve already signed you up. Your first session is tomorrow. First thing’s first-” He stood up, reaching a hand out to a still-shaking Virgil, “Hand over your phone.”
-------------------------
His hair was short now. Shorter than he could ever remember it being. He missed his bangs, he missed the tiny boosts of confidence it gave him when the rest of his appearance disgusted him. Now there was nothing for his hands to run through. There was no style to it, just an electric razor in the hands of his silent foster mother. He should have fought it, he really should have, but he was shaking far too much to try to move.
He didn’t like hands so near his throat.
------------------------
Surely, his social worker didn’t approve of this. The only explanation Virgil could possibly rationalize was they’d lied about the purpose of the therapy, or the method, or something. But any type of change in a foster kid's life had to go through about a million different levels to get approved, so how the hell were they getting away with this?
It wasn’t too bad. A lot of it was using religious guilt, something Virgil did not have much of, saying he was immoral and inhumane. The rest of it was just his new therapist trying to dig into his supposed ‘trauma’ that made him ‘this way’, as if there was something that caused it. They talked a lot about his old foster homes, and his therapist seemed positive something there had to be the root to everything. It made his blood boil.
It didn’t help that they still hadn’t given his phone back, and they confined him to his room when he wasn’t doing school work at the kitchen table. He could hear the way his soulmate was losing morale, the longer he didn’t respond. The songs were darker, and were few and far between. They still refused to play songs on what he’d called ‘his days’.
--------------------
His ‘therapy’ had ended hours ago, and yet he couldn’t stop twitching. Every time he closed his eyes in a vain attempt to sleep, it was like the electrodes were attached to him again. The images they’d shown him flashed before his eyes, of men kissing, holding hands, and were quickly followed by the sharp sting of electric shocks. He couldn’t close his eyes without flinching violently, no music to calm his nerves.
Virgil didn’t sleep that night.
----------------------
He held to the music like an anchor, soaking in every rare song his soulmate played like a sponge. It was his only relief from the hunger pangs in his stomach, reminding him that he hadn’t been allowed to eat at all in the day leading up to another therapy session. Apparently they wanted to put him on some kind of medication, try to increase the intensity of his sessions. It was getting to the point where Virgil was tempted to pretend it was working just to make them stop.
He missed his soulmate.
----------------------
No. He’d said no to the drugs. They wanted to put him on anti-psychotics, claiming he was severely mentally ill, and he’d downright refused. There was no way in hell he was going on anti-psychotics. Finally, after days of their demanding being met with stubbornness, they’d given in.
That had been a month ago. Maybe. Time had gotten kind of funny, like in that limbo between Christmas and New Years, or in the depths of summer break. It had been a while, for sure. They still fed him so rarely a growling stomach was more common than a full one, claiming it was part of his new therapy. He couldn’t help wonder why he was gaining weight, though. He’d been underweight for a majority of his life, thanks to a constantly overworking metabolism and genetics, along with the nasty food they served at group homes that he gladly avoided, but he was starting to fill out slightly. His ribs were barely showing.
That would be a symptom of being on antipsychotics, he knew from previous research. But he wasn’t on them, so why…?
He took another sip of his apple juice his foster mom had brought him, trying to focus on his homework. Had apple juice always tasted that bitter?
-----------------------
They’d gone too far this time, Virgil knew that much. Curse his stubbornness, his inability to just lie and go along with it. He could have just claimed the conversion therapy was working, ‘oh golly, I’m healed!’, and go on with his life, finally talk to his fucking social worker, but no. He wasn’t capable of that.
They’d shown him more pictures, shocking him more frequently, refusing to stop the session even as tears streamed down his face. It just hurt so bad. Then he remembered a shout (maybe his own?), blinding pain, and the next thing he knew, he was in his foster dad’s car. He said he’d had a seizure, but he was okay now, so they were heading home. A cup of water was forced down his throat and he was laid down in bed, commanded to rest. He was so confused, but also so tired, so he let his eyes drift shut.
Just before he lost consciousness for the second time that day, he heard a soft melody drift through his mind as his soulmate played another song. It had been so long since the last time he’d heard them play music… despite his exhaustion, he fell asleep with a smile on his face.
--------------------
The days had been a bit of a blur since his seizure. It was probably because his brain had done the human equivalent to ‘Have you tried turning it off and back on again?’, but even that was hazy in his mind. All he wanted to do was sleep, to rest, to not have to do the school work that they were still shoving down his throat. From where he was laying motionless in his bed, he watched the slowly setting sun dip below the horizon.
There was a knock at the door downstairs. Virgil flinched from the noise, triggering a series of twitches down his spine and into his limbs. People were talking downstairs. He could distinctly hear the voice of his foster parents, but the others were unfamiliar. They were getting louder, near shouting, and there were pounding footsteps echoing up the stairs and down his hallway.
He couldn’t even find the energy to be scared as his door was thrown open and a man’s voice shouted, “He’s in here!”. A flurry of people stormed into the room, the ones in the lead dressed in blue.
Clambering, people shifting to make space, a woman holding his hand. She was asking him questions as they loaded him into a stretcher and he tried his best to answer, but he was just so tired. His name was said multiple times, as well as the names of his foster parents, but it was hazy, so hazy…
“We were just trying to help, I didn’t want this to happen, I don’t-”
“Quiet, woman!”
She raised her voice but it was growing farther away. Virgil realized with a start that he was looking at the sky, bumping along on the gravel path, the bright lights of an ambulance flashing across his vision.
The husband shouted again, trying to silence his wife. That was the last thing Virgil heard as the doors slammed shut, and he finally allowed his eyes to close.
