La noche está hecha, tengo tu mano,
velo, te sostengo
con todas mis fuerzas.
Grabo en la piedra, surcos profundos,
la estrella de tus fuerzas:
bondad de tu cuerpo. Aquí
germinará y se abrirá.
Me repito tus voces, ambas,
la oída por todos y
la secreta.
Me río, te veo tratar
la altanera como si mendigara, te veo, respetas
a los ofuscados, vas hacia
los simples: te bañas.
Ahora
quedamente miro tu frente y mi frente, las
uno a la noche, ahora
siento el milagro detrás: te me vuelves
desconocida, extraña, te asemejas a ti, te asemejas
Correspondencia. Edición a cargo de Bertrand Badiou, Hans Höller, Andrea Stoll y Barbara Wiedemann; traducción de Horacio Zabaljáuregui y Griselda Mársico.

when annabeth goes to the bathroom connor sneaks over & doodles little tiny memes in random spots all over annabeths blueprints for her to find in like three days
ABSOLUTELY!! this was me in my teacher’s office🥴
she pretends to be annoyed with him every time she finds a new one bc sometimes it IS annoying when it messes with the neatness of her work and she has to erase stuff
she tells him for every time he draws on her stuff, she gets a free pass to retaliate with whatever she wants but she never follows through
he does it to tease/annoy her but it’s kind of also his love language
sometimes it’s not even a meme or a joke. it’s a little heart or “i love you”
and when i tell you that shit makes her go💗💓💖💞💗
the fact that he has the dedication and motivation to do it every time just to see her huff in annoyance and give him a grudging smile and gently pinch his side or flick his forehead
whenever she’s feeling down or having trouble with percy and she finds one of the scribbles he left for her, she’s reminded that she’s loved and he will always be there for her to lean back on🥺

nycc was fantastic! the best part was getting to meet the lovely @tofuthebold and spend the day with my good friend @glompcat! that was really wonderful, I think the high will carry me for days.
meeting artists and authors was nerve-wracking but worth it! emilio laiso (doctor aphra: remastered) was so gracious; he seemed genuinely excited to see interest in aphra. he specifically wanted to know whether we liked her expressions - laiso's aphra is tremendously expressive, it's one of the aspects I enjoy most about his work - and spoke of his own love for the character in terms of her ambiguity. had we spoken italian, I think the discussion could have become really interesting, because he seemed so open to talking about his process and character work. at his table in artist's alley, he had some lovely, highly limited posters of aphra (yes, I bought one) for purchase in addition to his sketchbook, which includes a colored page with aphra.
andrea broccardo, who did work on screaming citadel and will be taking over the main star wars comic as of the next issue, was also delighted to talk of aphra and especially sana, who features heavily in #56! his love of the characters was palpable. at his table in artist's alley, he offered customized versions of his sketchbook - which includes a ton of sw characters, including luke, han, chewie, vader, kanan, hera - with your character of choice drawn by hand at the con on the cover. (I have an aphra and she's amazing!)
charles soule (lando, poe dameron, obi-wan & anakin, darth vader) was busier - we walked past his table in artist's alley three times and only encountered him once, and then only briefly. I had darth vader #18 (the tarkin hunt) with me, which he seemed pleased to see - it's the issue that contains his philosophy for the character in a nutshell, an assessment he confirmed with other words. I stuttered something about his use of a four elements scheme and he said he put all that in for a reason. when we mentioned the ongoing arc, he said something along the lines of there being much in store ... he had trade paperbacks of the major comics and his new novel at his table - which I want to read when dissertating subsides.
@tofuthebold is working on a new comic that sounds and looks riveting - can't wait until it's out!
although his announcement that he would be at the con was what got me to even raise the question of going, I missed kieron gillen. he flash-announced a signing at the marvel booth - many thanks to the ever-astute @tofuthebold for letting me know! - but was only briefly present there. lessons learned here about capped lines, following twitter, and the elusive.
we saw some fabulous padmé cosplay - @erikaalamode was in the lake dress, and pictures do not do her work justice - the flow, the movement, the grace were astounding to see. it was as though padmé were floating across the con floor.
the incredibly talented women who contributed to women of star wars are well worth your follow. at the panel about the book, ashley eckstein and amy ratcliffe spoke of how ahsoka has changed their lives, annie stoll about her love for sabine, sara alfageeh about growing up with tpm and identifying with padmé, karen hallion about the time when the only woman in star wars was leia and what it meant to her to be able to draw general leia and see general leia cosplay, sarah wilkinson and cryssy cheung about the process of drawing an icon like ahsoka, and jen bartel - who did the incredible cover - about how she had assumed "murder eyes" while drawing in order to capture the essence of leia for the headshot below:
(X)
if you’re at the con, many of them have tables at artist’s alley!
I’ve linked mostly to twitter above, but you can also find many of the women of star wars contributors on instagram:
none of these interactions would have been possible without the incredible generosity of @glompcat, who essentially held my hand through the entire process, initiating (brilliant) conversations with the creators and demonstrating such friendship and patience and kindness as I have rarely seen. <333
