Top Ten Reasons why SyFy’s Alice miniseries is the best Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass adaptation actually.
10) They go the “it’s a sequel” route, but make the bold choice to have Alice not be grown Alice or even a descendent of the original Alice, but just some woman who happens to be named Alice.
9) Alice has a black belt in karate, but they don’t make a thing about it. We see her teaching a class at the beginning of the show, and she’s capable of handling herself in a fight, but they don’t try to turn that into some defining character trait.
8) Excellent world-building that blends together elements of Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass and makes it dark and gritty without becoming Dark and Gritty(TM)
7) The time has come, Walrus, old friend/To test our many stills/The oohs, the ahs, the healing drops/The passions, the thrills/And see how joy and awe and lust/Can all be turned to pills
6) Some superb performances by some iconic actors, including Kathy Bates as the Queen of Hearts, Colm Meany as the King of Hearts, Tim Curry as Dodo (a resistance leader), and especially, especially Matt Frewer as the White Knight.
5) Mad March is a ruthless cunning bloodthirsty assassin who, due to some shortcuts taken in bringing him back from the dead, has a rabbit head-shaped cookie jar for a head.
4) Andrew-Lee Potts as the Hatter makes me swoon.
3) It’s got a lot of morally grey characters, but that moral ambiguity is rooted in the fact that fighting a revolution is messy and not everyone is going to agree about the best approach and what lines can and can’t be crossed.
2) Some solid anti-capitalist messages in there you can pull out.
1) OH MY GOD Y’ALL, THEY ACTUALLY CALLED IT THE JABBERWOCK. Nary a jabberwocky in sight. I’m going to cry y’all; just look how faithfully they recreated my doofy-looking baby:

TV asks: 2, 5, 22
2: favorite tv show that you’ve watched/discovered this year
It’s a very close three-way tie between Primeval, Ted Lasso, and Only Murders in the Building, but I’ll definitively say Only Murders because that was the only one that I immediately watched all the way through again as soon as I’d finished it the first time. So good! Highly recommend for any fans of murder mystery/comedies!
5: favorite ship you discovered this year
I’m sure it was pretty obvious, but Connor/Abby from Primeval was my number one ship this year. Was it partially motivated by my crush on Andrew Lee Potts? Yes, absolutely.
22: favorite scene/quote from a tv show this year
The very last scene from s2e5 of Ted Lasso (“Rainbow”) is so dang good, I’m still not over it. Roy’s very dramatic “Jeff… I have to go”, his knee giving out and having to limp some of the way to the stadium, “I believe you have a ticket for Reba McEntire” and “You had me at ‘coach’”, all set to ‘Rainbow’ by The Rolling Stones? ICONIC.
(Also, fun fact, some of the lyrics of the song match up to what the female characters are wearing. On “have you seen her all in blue?” you see Higgins’ wife in an all-blue outfit, and on “have you seen her dressed in gold?” you see Keeley in a gold coat. It’s such a clever detail that makes me love the scene even more.)
Thanks for the ask, friend! Love ya!

Top 20 Mad Hatters
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY, EVERYBODY!
It’s now American Independence Day, as well as International Alice in Wonderland Day! And so we come to the final countdown of my Wonderland-themed lists for the week. I saved my personal favorite character for last: the Mad Hatter.
The Hatter is interesting partially due to his popularity. In the book, his role is neither larger nor smaller than most other characters in Wonderland - the story is something of an ensemble piece - yet he has somehow become one of the most iconic and beloved characters out of them all. He’s possibly the single character who has been reimagined and adapted the most of any of them, and a great number of people tend to call him their absolute favorite, myself included. To be honest, I’ve never really figured out WHY this is, even with my own favoritism of the character; perhaps it’s his charisma, his manner of dress, his particular peculiarities, or something else...perhaps all of the above. Whatever the case, he remains a mainstay in numerous adaptations.
On top of this, he’s also possibly the easiest character to adapt. I say this because I like more Mad Hatters than any other one character from the books. I’m not as picky about this guy as others, and I could have actually had this list go up to around 30 and still had Hatters I would have liked to mention. There are just so many truly AWESOME versions of this character, it’s impossible to keep track of them all! Not only that, but I love all these versions - and I do mean ALL these versions - almost equally; any favoritism is, like, a matter of a 1% difference away from each other. As a result, this was one of the hardest lists to make...but after much deliberation on choices and ranking, I think I came up with a more or less definitive setup. So, to celebrate today’s auspicious occasion...join me for tea as I present My Top 20 Mad Hatters!

You use Andrew Lee Potts as a faceclaim. I really want to hug you as I consider him one of the most underrated actors I've ever seen. Feel for him as Hatter in Alice.
Hi Nonny !!
Same here, same and I am always happy if people feel the same way about him. I mainly use icons from that mini series for my OC bc I really loved him in there. But tbh, Rhydian’s a very fickle muse who likes to make himself scarce.

Apparently there’s levels to dumblr’s sensitivity restrictions... One of my oc blogs got marked as sensitive, but like barely?? I can still go to the physical blog page. But I can no longer have an Icon, aka it is stuck on one of Dumblr’s starter icons. And I know why, for the dumbest reason ever.
Dumblr can’t handle Andrew Lee Potts’ nipples. xD
Idk If I am going to re-make that blog or not since it never got that far in the first place. I still have everything backed up because I was paranoid. But, it’s interesting how there seems to be different various levels of restrictions now.

Denver, CO (June 12 2017) — The Pentagon Memorial Fund recently announced the selection of Fentress Architects of Denver as the architect for the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial Visitor Education Center (VEC) in Arlington, Virginia.
The VEC will be the companion visitor center to the existing memorial (pictured above) that memorializes the 184 lives lost during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, when American Airlines Flight 77, traveling from Dulles International Airport to Los Angeles was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon. The tragedy took lives of Pentagon employees and all passengers and crew aboard Flight 77.
The mission of the 9/11 VEC is to enlighten, educate and engage. It will be the leading authority and primary source of information about the attack on the Pentagon, the 184 victims and the historic response of our nation and nations around the world. Visitors will be educated through interactive exhibitions and programs about the 9/11 experience, the Pentagon Memorial, the Pentagon and the ongoing unified fight against terrorism.
The site of the VEC is uniquely located in the flight path of American Airlines Flight 77 and adjacent to the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and the 9/11 Pentagon Group Burial Marker in Arlington National Cemetery. The building will comprise 100,000 gross square feet and in addition to the exhibition spaces, will include an auditorium, sky terrace, museum support spaces, 9/11 reflection room, facility support spaces, offices, and parking.
