tiffany is in sewing & knitting camp, she’s your stereotypical angry goth girl character lol. she’s very snarky and sarcastic, but is mainly popular in camp because she’s “cool”. tiff loves knitting, she’s almost always knitting, it calms her down when she is mad (which is often lol). she’s pretty confident in herself except for 2 things, which is the fact she has a speech impediment and the fact that she naturally has curly blonde hair (😨, a secret nobody can ever find out /j).

anyways, she’s mean and a teeny bit aggressive if she truly dislikes you. which leads to andrew

andrew is music camp’s sole member! …which is unfortunate, because he sucks at playing anything. he doesn’t know why he joined, he was just excited about going to a summer camp. he’s an incredibly goofy guy. alas, everyone hates him because he is too silly… no, he’s just incredibly annoying and clingy. it bothers a lot of campers to the point where they cannot stand him for long periods of time, because andrew will just talk their ears off.

andrew has a big ole crush on tiffany (he has a crush on a lot of people) and tiffany HATES HIS GUTS!! so she’s constantly childishly threatening him or attempting to lead him to his demise. fortunately andrew seems to be allergic to dying, so he hasn’t yet!

people on The Internet Dot Com keep being absolute idiots about thea muldani so here is your reminder that she's a ravens success story — she grew up in an environment where she was asked to give her all and engage in incredibly unhealthy practices, but the result of such sacrifice was that she was rewarded for it with US court and a pro team. she was part of a cult and "left" in the sense of gaining physical distance, but all of her experiences reaffirmed that the toxic ravens environment was the most effective way to a successful exy career. it is fucked up that she believes others should go through the same thing in order to be "worthy" or "good enough," but i simply do not understand why so many people look at her and think that she should be crucified for being a representation of a finished, successful raven. especially not if she's unable to recognize abuse in others, which tbqh is something that is very common in cult-like settings. you don't want to look something-that-could-very-well-be-abuse-happening-to-others in the eye, because if they're being abused, then you could potentially be being abused, too, and what do you do with that? do you have any idea how hard it is to come to terms with that reality, especially when you are told day in and day out that this is the only way to get to the top? that this is how you make it in the sport? that someone who is being harmed by the coach or the team captain absolutely deserved it? that people who can't hack it are weak, but you're not weak, you're one of the best, you'll do whatever it takes?

is it extremely shitty that she blames jean for his own sexual assault? absolutely, yes. but she doesn't have the whole picture, and it's clear that jean intentionally deceives her (with the comment about him being fragile/clumsy, etc.) and lets her believe he had more agency in his sexual experiences than he truly did because it's a coping mechanism that also serves the purpose of letting her fill in blanks so he does not have to explicitly tell a lie. besides, if there is any singular raven that both kevin and jean view fondly, wouldn't they want her to believe whatever it took so that she didn't ask too many questions? wouldn't they both want her far removed from the reality of the moriyamas and human trafficking, because her uncovering the truth would put her entire life at risk?

people can have friends that are imperfect or do not understand them completely or that fuck things up sometimes. i get that jean's experiences put people on-guard when it comes to how he interacts with other characters, but god damn. she was his mentor. she taught him everything he knows about being a backliner. she made horrible and judgmental assumptions about his experiences. all of those things can be true at the same time. does she not deserve the opportunity to change upon receiving new information? does she not deserve the ability to take a step back, as ravens are dropping like flies and all eyes are on evermore and the perfect court, to consider that maybe she was a victim in all of this, too? that plenty of people are capable of making it to the top without calling another human being the master and turning a blind eye to the king beating his own men? that maybe kevin and jean and all of them were terribly wronged? why is she the only person in this series who's not allowed to grow as a person by developing a more nuanced understanding of rape and sexual assault and learning how to be a better friend to someone who had no choice?

also someone tried to "gotcha" me by saying thea and jean aren't friends because she uhhhh (checks notes) calls him a teasing nickname and says "i'm going to break your ribs" as though threatening your friends (especially ones you play a contact, violent sport with) is the worst possible offense ever in the same book series that people regularly ACTUALLY fistfight each other and pull knives on one another. i'd argue that these are actually huge indicators that they do like each other, because she's probably one of the only people in the world who he can express himself around and even say things like "i'm not from paris" exasperatedly. you know, like you do when people you care about tease or poke fun at you. those are actually probably some of the most normal interactions jean has pre-TSC, especially as she is not needlessly cruel to him like literally everyone else in the nest is. and not only is thea one of the only people who has any sort of comraderie with him and who makes the effort to see him after his injuries because she cares, but she also makes it past wymack and kevin and renee and neil guard-dogging him. does that seriously mean nothing? do you think renee fucking walker (who was ready to brawl on-sight at evermore) would have let someone like zane waltz into abby's house if kevin said a single negative word about him?

i have seen some incredibly wonderful and nuanced takes about most characters in AFTG, but at the same time, the way thea is treated and criticized in a more severe way than literal murderers in the series for her possibly-willful ignorance is utterly crazy to me.

i’ve written a captive prince & succession fic as well so! & have also briefly written fics in some other fandoms when i was much younger which r now too embarrassing 2 name lmao

honestly not sure what other fandoms i’d write for it honestly just comes down 2 whether i’m gripped w an idea for certain characters…would love 2 escape hp fandom lol but i think part of why it’s sucked me in so bad is that i like fucking around w the holes in the canon universe…like most of the marauders fic i’ve written has been either canon compliant or canon divergent & me going “hmmm what would these characters do in this context” & now bc i’ve spent so much time thinking abt & writing them it’s just also becoming easy 2 plug these characters into aus 🤧

actually thinking abt my fic writing experience generally the thing that tends 2 make me wanna write fic is if there’s something abt canon that i wanna patch in…like my captive prince fic is just canon but from a different character’s pov & my succession fic is just “what if kenstewy were canon” lol. have thought abt writing aftg from andrew’s pov & the first book of the feverwake duology from dara’s pov simply bc that’s something i enjoyed doing w atyd & captive prince but never actually did…guess i could also see myself potentially writing spn fic if i came up w an idea i liked…& honestly i think if i ever reread trc i might go crazy for real & could then potentially decide 2 write fic who knows. but atp i feel like marauders fic has just become my comfort zone…it’s just a weird balance to strike where a story has to have characters i love but be unsatisfying (poorly written/queerbait/not actually queerbait but i’m delusional/would be fun 2 see from another character’s pov) enough that there r gaps i wanna fill. so like there r various stories/franchises/series i’ve loved where i’ve just never felt compelled at all 2 read or write fic bc i got everything i wanted out of the story etc!

Now I would love to know who YOUR favorite LM Montgomery character is?

This changes with the day, the hour, the moment lol because she wrote so many fantastic characters, and similar to your experience, as I get older, I identify with more and more of them! My favorite character often becomes whoever I happen to be discussing at the moment (Barney is so rich, Dean Priest is a universe of complexity, Mrs. Rachel Lynde is Mrs. Rachel Lynde, Mark Greaves is a personal comedic favorite--he'd definitely have a tumblr account, and the list goes on.) When I was little (are ya'll ready to be surprised?) I would have said Beverly from The Story Girl. Idk man, I just really liked him! He seemed cool! I always wanted to know more about what happened to him and Sara Stanley!

Now, though, I'm going to take a brave and wild stab at pinning down who it is. Walter Blythe is forever at the top of the list, and because Jane of Lantern Hill is on the mind, I'm going to add Andrew Stuart. Walter fascinates me in being a standout male character amongst the rest and his need to, as I just read in an academic article earlier, keep his feelings secret from the rest of the world! Andrew Stuart is just delightful. His story imo kind of hints at the grown-up novel LM Montgomery sometimes talked about, in that you know he suffers from PTSD, he's on the brink of divorce, his career didn't go anywhere he wanted it too, he's estranged from his daughter, he's arrogant and sometimes not self-aware, he married '~above his station', he has the worst mother in law in the known and explored universe but his own family is also far from great - his background, although never fleshed out in full, is practically dripping with more Serious Adult Topics. I reread Lantern Hill for Jane, but there's another novel peeking through it that I would have liked to see.

so, i have been in a musical mood since my birthday--probably because my birthday kicks off the holiday season (we flow right into thanksgiving from that, then hanukkah was early in december so we went right into it before yule and christmas) and the two months of a full house and extra activities makes me super overwhelmed. so i had tick tick boom and the greatest showman pulled up to watch and figured they would be a cheering way to end the year.

i did watch tick tick boom right before new years, but left the greatest showman waiting. we were actually on our way to see the color purple (the musical i was most excited for and still am) when we found bailey on thursday, so that ended those plans. but since musicals are the best balm to my mental health, i was glad to still have the greatest showman to watch tonight. and the funniest thing to me is that i forgot how hard zac efron always hits me in his first scene! because apparently i will be surprised every single time he starts talking and he's no longer the kid from hsm.

anyway this was especially funny to me tonight because i read great things about the iron claw and so i've been planning to see it, in the theater if i can. and i knew that he was in it and that was one of the draws for me...but somehow until i was rewatching the greatest showman, i had totally forgotten WHY i like him so much even though i was planning to see him in a different movie.

it takes his performance in the other side for me to go 'wait dude when did you turn into this?' and then i was perfectly reliving the way i felt the first time i saw the greatest showman, which was a whole lifetime ago and also only six years. and idk what it means that zac efron is capable of tugging me into flashbacks in such a specific way? but it really is something.

What stories are your favourite? Or ones that you prefer more? Like angst, fluff, humour, hurt/comfort or no comfort? Or ones where the character (hero) is a villain who feels regrets for how things are or doesn't at all since they can be more free this way?

OOOFFF I really enjoy all the ones that you listed but I say that I enjoy angst and hurt/comfort more since I write those two genres the most in my current fics🤔.

I do enjoy humour but the humour really gotta land for me. Such as in the usm show, majority of the jokes were flat and didn’t land for me and there’s few that I actually did chuckle at since they would be the same jokes that I would say at their age. When writing humour, especially Spidey’s humour, they have to be smart, cheeky, and well-timed unlike how the show handled it by making him crack a joke every 10 seconds. Humour has to come naturally and be short and very true to his character, considering his age and personality as a teenager with hormones and mood changes. (Just a lil tip from a small fic writer)

I do LOVEE me a conflicted hero story! Spidey being a villian to change the way things are and/or being free to do what he wants without being pushed down can work well both ways. I always viewed Spidey disliking the idea of staying pinned down by other agencies such as the Avengers and SHIELD unless he has a debt to pay that involves his loved ones and his involvement wouldn’t last long.

I would pay big bucks for someone to write a Villian!Spider-Man that still follows his morals of or does as he pleases without caring much of protecting others unless it benefits him and his loved ones.
