Dean thought he was a lesbian for a long time, but he then learns what transgender is and starts to think about his own gender and how he feels like a boy, he's just scared of how he will tell his friends and his girlfriend, who is also a lesbian

Really good book and explained it all super well, really good rep tbh and even though everyone is messy in some way you feel for (almost) every character 8/10 (trans men, trans women, non binary, lesbian, gay and bisexual characters)

Dear Wendy by Ann Zhao

We follow Jo and Sophie during their first year at Wellesley College, who meet in a class and become friends, but what they don't know is that they also know each other online, as Wendy and Wanda and they don't exactly get along swimmingly. Oh, they are both also aroace, and become closer after telling each other that

If you're aspec or questioning it or just want to know more about it and what we go through in this world as aroace people? This is the book for you, it's so good and so relatable 10/10 (Asexual, aromantic, bisexual, lesbian, pansexual, demisexual and non binary characters)

I Wish You All the Best by Mason Dever

Ben comes out to their parents and gets kicked out, making them call their sister who they hadn't seen in 10 years to pick them up, and even if their life is shitty in that moment, happier days are to come

I loved this story so so much but I wanted to kill the parents. Really well written and the sibling and friends are so loveable! 9/10 (non binary, queer, pansexual and bisexual characters)

I'll Be Home For Christmas by Mason Deaver

Takes place 4 months after iwyatb at christmas time, Ben wants to surprise Nathan but a snowstorm gets in the way... Or does it?

Loved this short story so much! You just fall in love with Ben and Nathans love! And wow in both books I could relate to Ben's anxiety so much it was scary 10/10 (non binary, queer, pansexual and bisexual characters)

Like real people do by E. L. Massey

Eli, a disabled 18 year old who loves to skate runs into Alex, a 19 year old famous hockey player, and they quickly become friends, but soon develop feelings for each other and must figure out if an out guy and a closeted guy can be together

Adorable, just fucking adorable I love this book so much and the two main characters and their friends are absolute sweethearts, was thinking this book wasn't going to be for me cause hockey isn't something I like but wow was I wrong, so glad I gave this book a chance 10/10 (gay and bisexual characters)

Like you've nothing left to prove by E. L. Massey

Second book of "Like real people do" and follows Eli and Alex navigate their relationship as well as their passions, hockey and figure skating

If you loved the first book this is just a continuation of it and again, so adorable and loveable, just a delight to read 10/10 (gay and bisexual characters)

Milo and Marcos at the end of the world by Kevin Christopher Snipes

His last year of high school and a familiar face appears after three years. Milo remembers Marcos from camp and hasn't stopped thinking about him, and maybe the same can be said about Marcos?

This was a rollercoaster to say the least lol but very interesting read, and Milo and Marcos are very lovable characters (even though stubborn sometimes but who isn't?) And Vanessa is the best friend anyone can have. Although the religious themes was sometimes too much, but understandable why it was put there 8/10 (gay characters)

The Passing Playbook by Isaac Fitzsimons

Spencer changes schools since the previous one wasn't accepting of his transgender identity, and the new one is more open to queer people, and they also have a football/soccer team which he would love to join

Such a sweet story and I just loved all the kids, Spencer and Justice are so cute together, all the teammates are super nice and Theo (Spencer's autistic younger brother) is absolutely adorable, really nice read 10/10 (Transgender, queer, gay and bisexual characters)

They hate each other by Amanda Woody

Dylan and Jonah don't get along, they hate each other, but after deciding to fake date to get everyone in school off their backs by saying they would make the perfect couple, over time they might realize that they were right

Loved this book so much!!! Wanted to adopt Jonah and hug Dylan, protect these boys at all costs, and Jonahs sisters were too adorable, even though it had heavy topics it was really well done (yeah a lot of scenes almost made me cry, both in a bad way ans good way lol) 10/10 (bisexual, transgender and asexual characters)

Upside Down by N. R. Walker

Jordan might be asexual but he isn't sure, so Merry his best friend takes him to an aro/ace meeting to learn and get some answers, and he might just get them and more...

There are no fucking words for this book, but I will say that you will not stop smiling and laughing and crying throughout, all the characters are so genuine and lovable and I want to know them irl, could not recommend enough 10/10 (gay, lesbian, asexual, aromantic, bisexual, poly)

I've listened to all of the following at least five times lol hopefully some of them are new to you! But I saw you were an author so depending on what you write (what do you write?) they might all be familiar to you lol. * I admit I have not listened to the non fiction ones (are retellings of ancient Greek and Norse religious stories considered nonfiction if they're told in sort of an educational way?) more than once or twice.

* understood betsy (wholesome)

* Anne of Green gables (wholesome)

* pride and prejudice (rom with some com)

* northhanger abby (com with some rom)

* Ivanhoe (medieval based action sort of with definite com and a little rom)

* spells swords and stealth (series) (DnD world + regular world - light hearted)

* terry pratchet' Discworld (super lighthearted, magic. Skip through the description of the elephant and the turtle if you're not into it. Idk which books though I'm going through them all now for the first time and I can't keep their names in my head. The first two, a couple of the ones with rincewind, a couple of the ones with the witches and a couple of the ones with the night watch I re-listened to immediately after finishing). Not gonna lie, there are like five or six jokes hes made in the first 12 book that I absolutely hate and he wouldn't have gotten away with now.

* the marvelous land of snergs read by Stephen fry - I'm specific cuz I think one of the versions is an adaptation and I don't know which one it is (light hearted journey to magical land)

* little house on the prairie series up to little town on the prairie. That one starts to go in a direction I get less interested in. (Wholesome)

* The time travelers guide to medieval England - non fiction, admittedly only listened once but it was fun

* Unconventional Heroes series by L G Estrella (light hearted magical land fun group. The characters are a little overpowered sometimes but it's still a nice casual fun read/listen)

* the utterly uninteresting and unadventurous tales of Fred the vampire accountant (light easygoing fantasy in modern world - at some point main group does start feeling overpowered)

* around the world in 80 days (most lighthearted of the three of jules's works that I know), journey to the center of the earth, 20000 leagues under the sea. (all sort of fun and adventurey and slightly fantastic but not magical, probably has a main character who's a professor or a scientist or eccentric intellect, 1880s maybe?)

* Pearls and Perils by drew Hayes (super fun comedy adventure sort of with a rag tag group and possibly a deity on an island modern day)

* the case of the damaged detective and the rest of the series - super fun sort of sherlock homes but modern day. Also drew Hayes.

* Edgedancer by Brandon Sanderson - magical other world with a hilariously irreverent main character and her sweetly stuffy partner in action who's a plant.

*the wizards butler by Nathan Lowell. Gotta warn you the main character does start off as a womanizer but it's just for character development and nothing very racy happens. Magic in the real world, mild action, adventure, and romance with some mystery.

* heroes by Stephen fry, troy by Stephen fry, mythos by Stephen fry, Norse mythology by Neil gaimon - all retellings of ancient religious stories (and a story about a war) for a modern reader. Heroes and mythos are about ancient Greek stuff

* the secret garden (sweet maybe 1870s?)

Notes:

Excellent video of this show from the orchestra. Some heads are seen but not obstructing anything, except on the right side of the screen when they are extremely stage left. Colors are absolutely beautiful. Some washout but it's very minimal. Overall a near perfect capture.

Notes:

Very nice video of Dana from the left orchestra. The video is on a dutch angle but it doesn't take too much away from the video. There is a loud obnoxious drunk lady behind me who wouldn't stop screaming at the actors during the show. Alex told her to shush at the puppet show. She stopped in Act 2 for the most part. Overall a really nice video of this show nearing its end.

I used this prompt for my original characters, Nathan and Patience: the story is under the cut.

“Your name is Pat?” asked the girl opposite her.

Patience picked up her cutlery for want of anything else to do, smiled perfunctorily and said, “Yeah.” It was Nathan’s nickname for her, which the girl had clearly heard before he was shunted off to another table, but she didn’t feel like explaining.

“That’s such a pretty name,” she enthused. “I’m Lia—Anne Cordelia, actually, Mum was a big Anne of Green Gables fan when she had me. And you’re Pat! Like Pat of Silver Bush!”

Patience recognised the name, and had even read the two books by L. M. Montgomery to which Lia was referring, but presumed Pat was named Patricia, not Patience. Still, she nodded and smiled again.

“We’re going to be the best of friends, I can feel it,” proclaimed Lia. Patience’s eyes darted around the room, wishing she hadn’t been seated on a table of strangers. “Do you have a boyfriend?”

“Yes. Nathan, over there.” She gestured to him.

“Oh, wonderful! I know Nathan, I went to school with him. Great guy, isn’t he?”

“He is, yes,” said Patience, allowing a smile to light her face properly this time. “Hence why I grabbed him before any other girl could,” she added, with rare possessiveness.

Lia laughed prettily. “I don’t blame you. If he’d asked me out I’d have said yes without any hesitation. Not that I begrudge you him, at all.”

Her dancing eyes met Patience’s, and it crossed Patience’s mind that she and Rhona would probably get along very well. There was sincerity in the girl’s glance that pleased Patience, and which she encountered rarely enough to value when she did.

“I’m glad; it would be mighty awkward if you were pining after him. So, do you have a boyfriend?”

“Nope, and at this point I don’t plan to get one.” She shot a venomous glance over Patience’s shoulder at a boy on Nathan’s table. “Not since Jacob dumped me two months ago. You’d think I’d have moved on by now, but I just don’t want to talk to any boy.”

“I mean, you don’t have to be in a relationship,” said Patience. “What about that verse in Paul’s letters, I forget which, in which he says if any man can keep himself holy and single that’s better? And that applies to women as well, of course.—You are Christian, aren’t you?” she added, with some anxiety.

“I am, yeah, though maybe try and not assume too much of other people in that way,” she chided, but with a jewel-bright glance that relieved Patience’s anxiety.

“I know. I keep forgetting that not everyone in the entire world believes in God, you know?”

Lia laughed. “Oh, trust me, I know.”

The laugh reminded Patience of Rhona. “You should meet my sister,” she said. “I bet you two would get along well.” The more time she spent with Lia the more she was beginning to be ever so slightly annoyed by her brightness, her cheerfulness, and it reminded her of the terrible time while she had hated and resented Rhona for those very same qualities. They still grated on her to some degree, but not nearly as much as they had used to.

“Is your sister at the reception too?”

Patience nodded. “She’s the stunning beauty in the dark red, over there. Rhona.”

“Oh, you’re right, she’s gorgeous,” said Lia enthusiastically. “Do you mind if I go over there and speak to her?”

“Not at all! If you think it’s socially acceptable, I mean.”

“Why wouldn’t it be?” she said, with a surprised stare.

Patience shrugged broadly. “I don’t know. I’m autistic, so I never quite know when social rules are acceptable to break or not.”

“Oh, I see. I wouldn’t have noticed,” added Lia with a charming smile. Her charming smile wasn’t as pleasing as Nathan’s. Patience fidgeted with her cutlery. “Well, anyway, I am, but Rhona isn’t so you might find her more fun company.” She kept her eyes on her plate. After an awkward moment, Lia left. Patience hoped she hadn’t burned the bridge too vigorously. She just wanted to be honest. She watched as Lia went over and greeted Rhona, watched them both light up very quickly and easily, and hoped this was a friendship that would last.

Someone else slid into Lia’s vacated seat. “I don’t know why they put us separately,” said a male voice, and she looked up in relief to find Nathan smiling across at her. “I noted very clearly on the R.S.V.P. that I was with you.”

“How dare they separate me from my emotional support boyfriend, honestly,” said Patience, deadpan.

“How dare they, indeed. I saw you talking with Anne; do you like her, d’you think?”

“Well, I think in common with most people she’ll get along better with Rhona than with me….” It came out more self-pitying than Patience intended, and she was grateful for Nathan not picking up on the self-pity and trying to comfort her. “Also she calls herself Lia now. Short for Cordelia.”

“Is she a novel protagonist? Or perhaps just wants to be special?”

“I mean, it is her name.”

“Oh, yes, I’m just being silly,” he said warmly, and put his hand on hers. She had stopped fidgeting with the cutlery.

“And she overheard you calling me Pat, so she thinks my name is Pat like Pat of Silver Bush.”

“Well, that’s one of the people I think of when I call you Pat, so there’s that.”

“I didn’t know you read any Montgomery.”

“I’ve read almost all of her longer-form stuff. I think just about the only one I haven’t read is A Tangled Web, because I heard weird things of that. And I don’t like omniscient viewpoints.”

“Fair enough, except you’re wrong and that book is great.”

He gestured like he was going to poke her, only he stopped short by several centimetres. Patience grinned.

“I’m right.”

“Regardless of whether you’re right or not,” he said sniffily, “I’m still going to not-read it.”

“And that’s your prerogative,” agreed Patience. “Lia’s coming back. You’d better scram.”

“So I had.—Hi, Anne.”

“Hi, Nathan. How’s life treating you?”

“Pretty good, with a girlfriend like her.” He sent Patience a warm smile. “I’m glad I have her.”

“Good to hear. I’m doing fine.”

“Great.” Nathan slipped away, like an eel.

“Your sister’s really nice,” agreed Lia. “I’ve got to get to know her better.”

“I feel like you two would get along pretty well,” said Patience, rather stiffly, thinking:

Better than you get along with me.

“I hope so. I’m eager to deepen our acquaintance.”

There was a pause in the conversation, while Patience fidgeted with her cutlery again. She had already finished the main course, and she felt frumpy in her light blue dress, less beautiful than most of the other ladies, including Lia, who wore a rather shocking dark blue, with less material to cover her than Patience might have wished, and certainly less than she would have been willing to wear.

“I got you dessert,” said Nathan, appearing at her side, and slid a bowl of chocolate mousse in front of her. “It’s your favourite, right?”

“It is that,” she said, and looked up at him with eyes of love.

“Dancing will start soon, I think,” he said in a low voice. “Then you can escape. We can escape. We can dance together, though, if you like.”

“That potentially sounds nice,” she said. “Depending on the music.” “As it ever does.” He kissed his hand theatrically to her, bowed and was gone.

“Love,” said Patience philosophically, placing her spoon gently in the mousse but not eating any yet, “is stored in chocolate mousse.”
