sometimes i think people are a little ridiculous and fearmongery about ai on here and then i open twitter and see takes like "that image of a mouse in a suit is ai so im putting my painting commissions on indefinite hold because ai stole the joy from me" (...what about your existing clients??) and "this database uses art from consenting artists but it's still bad for some reason and if you contribute to it every Real Artist hates you" and I think okay maybe it's Not So Bad here after all

This blog is set in 2021, P5R takes place in 2016, it has been five years since the events of the unjust game the Thieves were forced to play. The Phantom Thieves are now on the cusp of young adulthood and are navigating through new challenges as adults with their responsibilities and commitments.

i can't understand people who look at the royals bad end and go "omg its so 🥺 they're all so happy🥺" cause I literally had to read what happens on wiki cause i couldn't stomach watching a video and just (basically) betraying akechi like that also the way maruki talks about akechi "being able to atone" and shido still being in jail means that like in his perfect world akechi was still forced to be an assassin?

i also think its really weird that this perfect world has like joker... still in tokyo yknow? like if it was perfect he would of never had to transfer in the first place🤔so like does he still get arrested? deoes he still form the phantom thieves?

this also just mainly how i read it but during like the start of the 3rd sem when jokers like trying to get back the other phantom thieves, what i saw was joker seeing his friends in these perfect lives(without him) and then backing off?? like we could of been given a way to hang out with them (maybe even to try and swing the player into thinking its okay?) but joker doesn't.... and idk where im going with this

I feel like… There’s so much fridge horror to Bad End Royal. There’s the fact Sumire Yoshizawa is effectively dead and her corpse is walking around with her sisters face. Maruki didn’t even bother reviving her sister for his perfect reality because Sumi felt too insecure around her so obviously the solution is letting her rot in the ground.

Akechi’s entire personality has been rewritten to be the perfect pleasant boy. Maruki just took away everything he was to make him a little trophy husband for Akira. How sick is that?

Yusuke and Haru are back with their abusers. I know the game likes to play it up that Haru’s dad was such a great guy but they sure don’t do that for Madarame! They’re both with the people who abused them forever but those people are just good now.

In fact lots of bad people have been redeemed. Maruki zaps them with the redemption ray because they’re good now but oh- oh. Shido is the one who shut down his research. And he’s still in jail. Yeah I definitely trust this man to be our caring unjudgemental god.

There’s the people who hit slumps in their career who Maruki changed the entire passion and life goals of. He can just change what you want.

Also Makoto’s dad is a cop. And he’s alive and well. So I’ll let you connect the dots on that one.

Would you say Goro is a Villain or an Anti hero?

i mean technically speaking goro akechi is a villain and was an active blockade for the protagonists of persona 5, even if his backstory was sympathetic. though by the third semester, there's a temporary alliance that makes him an ally again and an anti-hero of sorts. i want to call it a redemption arc, but he's forced out of the series after the phantom thieves destroy maruki's reality, so he can't even live as a "redeemed" character

akechi and sumire’s relationship in 3rd semester is so cute and underrated. her presence may be mainly to be another dating option for the player but i feel like akechi being so much nicer to her and her openness to him much surpassed shusumi dynamic which comes off friendly/mentor imho.

I just realized something.

I've had Wednesday brain worms, so it's all I'm thinking about. The fandom talks a lot about Tyler, in ways that I didn't really get. If you're talking about him as a nice guy then that's the facade he presents to keep suspicion off himself as the Hyde. If you're talking about him as a feral violent outcast that can only be after the revelation that he's the Hyde, where he's definitely a villain and not hanging out with the rest of the cast. Not that it's important for an incorrect quotes post, but some posts like headcanons should take that into account.

Lots of people are looking forward to seeing him in season two while I've not seen that as likely, unless he returns as strictly a villain, but that isn't how these people seem to be talking about him. They want him to be part of the main cast. Maybe even continue as a potential romantic interest for Wednesday.

Then it hit me. It is possible that Tyler could come back in season two as a main non-villain and I could still end up liking him as a character. How? How could this seemingly pleasant but bland actually manipulative unrepentant murderer come back in a way that appeals to me personally? Two words.

Goro Akechi.

After playing Persona 5 I hated Akechi. I loved his character as a villain you're supposed to hate, but the way the fandom dealt with him never worked for me. When I learned that he was going to be super important to the third semester of Royal I was dreading it. Here they were going to take a heartless villain and go "here, empathize with this tragic misunderstood youth". I was not happy.

Then I actually played it and I was blown away. They didn't try to make me empathize. They didn't play him off as tragically misunderstood. Instead, they went, "here, this is murder child. He wants to see you suffer." They made him endearingly unrepentant. I went from liking him as a villain but hating him as a character to loving every moment with him.

So, Tyler. I realize now how it could work. Perhaps he is sent to the school under some kind of probation. Probably with lots of safeguards in place (that at some point they'd need to get past so they can use his monstrous form to deal with the threat of the season). No one trusts him or likes him, but he doesn't need to hide beneath his pleasant facade because everyone knows he's a serial killing Hyde. So he just let's himself be the sadistic asshole we saw briefly when he whispered to Wednesday in police station. He leans into being evil, if not villainous.

This could contrast with Wednesday, who is sadistic and likes to cause pain, but actually does have a good heart. Plus, I would love to see Enid and Wednesday being overprotective of each other every time Tyler is around, knowing how he's hurt each of them.

So, in conclusion, I've decided I could enjoy a season two Tyler, which I realized because he's basically Goro Akechi. I'm probably the only person drawing parallels between these two, but once I saw it I had to share. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
