Just tried out a new style, I need some opinions/advice maybe? Just starting out so maybe only go 3/5 on me😝subwatercolor

mod mars: yeah again, no clue how old this is so ill go fast bc you might not need this crit anymore. here we go

first off, stylistically, this is pretty cute! i like the colors and the effects. not much i would change there. also, the lining is nice and i do like the simplicity of the hair. that being said, ill move to profile anatomy, bc i think thats the area we need to discuss

first off: rough overview/blocking of problem areas

the biggest thing is: hair too big, face too low on the head. also the face just protruded too far out from the neck.

i dont really know how to talk about this, you just need to work on the spacing i guess?

i kept the proportions semi-realistic like yours. if youre attempting realism, then you’ll want to make the eye smaller and tweak more things from here, but this is meant to be a short critique so...

im gonna just take a very quick moment to talk about the ear, just cuz i love ears and it saddens me when people make them vague lines and dont put in detail.

tried to break it down for you- also, this is not realistic by any means, just my best simplification of the primary structures of the ear.

blue: outline. make sure its not lumpy, ears usually have a nice even shape

pink: little flap that your ear hole is directly behind

orange: idk what to call this but, funky little Y shaped structure

green: the ridge that wraps around the whole thing, as well as the little nub that protrudes right above the lobe
