Summary: okay so you and regulus had a fwb and then you get upset with each other and then start dating Remus at the same time and then regulus is like 🥺 I miss you boo bear come back to me

You liked Regulus first. You had started as friends. You were close, you know so much about him. You helped him through panic attacks, homework, and moments of overstimulation. You were so close, when he first suggested friends with benefits you barely blinked. You had shrugged and agreed. It was quite simple, really. You both cared so deeply for each other, as friends of course, why not care for each other sexually as well?

You both met up in secret. Regulus ushered you into his bed late at night. He pulled the dark green curtains together tightly. Regulus pulled out his journal. You were confused for a little before he started writing. So that night you both spent whispering to each other and writing up a contract. To be perfectly fair you weren't really shocked he needed a contract to have a slightly peculiar relationship with you. Within the contract you both agreed it was purely sexual not romantic and if you do happen to catch feelings it is mandatory you tell the other so the relationship can come to a close. It was nice Regulus was very caring as a friend and a sexual partner. He took his time and you returned the favor. You often only met under the blanket of night. When the sun was out it felt different, like it was out in the open for everyone else to see.

Unfortunately for you and Regulus you were both terrible at staying friends. The lines between friendship and a loving relationship started to blur very early. Regulus became more touchy. You started kissing his cheek and lingering with your lips on his skin. It became clear to your friend group something had changed. Barty started joking about it more often. If anyone asked where you two went he responded with 'fucking.' Because your behavior with each other and your friends blunt although not wrong accusations, people thought you two were dating. You were just close friends. You first saw Remus when you were with Regulus in the Library.

Remus had pulled himself into an armchair next to a small side table. A lamp was sat on top of the side table. Remus had a book open in his lap. He had one leg pulled up against his chest. You were picking up Regulus to walk him to dinner. You stood next to Regulus' table, staring at Remus. Regulus stood up and joined you at your side.

He watched Remus turn his book page. You slid your hand up Regulus' arm, over his shoulder, and up to his hair. You twirled a curl around your finger as you admired Remus. Regulus moved his hand over your back. He nudged the hem of your shirt up. Regulus pressed his hand against the skin of your hip. You both kept your eyes on Remus, dragging them over every inch of him. Remus glanced up at you. His eyes shot back to his book. He sat frozen, staring down at his page. Remus looked back up slowly, returning your stares. He looked scared if anything. Startled was maybe more accurate but scared felt right. You hummed. You dropped your hand from Regulus' hair to his hand. You pulled him away from the table walking him out of the Library. You and Regulus debriefed later talking about how ridiculously hot Remus was.

Soon after that Regulus sat you down and spilled everything. He caught feelings. Which was against the contract. Regulus apologized over and over again. You comforted him and told him it was nature and you weren't mad at him. You had assumed if someone caught feelings you'd stay friends, but after Regulus' confession he got sour. He gave the cold shoulder and even if you were able to get him to speak to you, he was rude and mean. So you returned his attitude. Insulting each other was the only way you two spoke to each other.

However, Remus was interested in both of you and you were both interested in him. So you both started dating him separately, aware of the other. It was an odd conversation to have with people. Sirius knew first, Regulus spilling it all during their regular catch up times. Sirius first thought Remus was cheating on Regulus with you. Regulus had to stop him from giving Remus a shiner.

In the end though you three were comfortable and that's all that really mattered. You liked dating Remus. You liked lightly bullying Regulus. Remus liked dating you both even if you both seemed to consider homicide everytime you were near each other. Regulus liked dating Remus. He liked threatening to kill you. You and Regulus did hate each other but you both loved how the other made Remus happy so you had a small silent alliance to not kill each other. That didn't stop you from insulting him though.

You were reading In the library, comfy in your armchair. You knew Remus and Regulus had a date later today, so you were perfectly fine with sitting on your own. You were having a lovely time, enjoying the joy your quiet brought you. Until Regulus showed up. He was decked in Remus' sweater, it swallowed him. If you didn't deeply hate him you'd say it he looked cute.

"See you're wearing my boyfriend's sweater." You muttered without looking up from your book. You truly just wished he would get annoyed with you and leave now.

"Our boyfriend, but that's just semantics." Regulus joined you, sitting in the armchair next to yours. You sighed. He doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon.

"Did you take my suggestion into consideration at all?" You glanced at him out the corner of your eye. Regulus leaned over the small table, proping his head up on his fist. He quirked an eyebrow up.

"What to kill myself?" He asked. You nodded and gave him a bright smile.

"If you can't come up with any ideas, I have some." Regulus rolled his eyes at you. You looked back to your book, maybe he'll leave now? Regulus dropped his hand onto your arm resting on the table.

"I think we should have a genuine serious conversation about our relationship." He was staring at you with a slightly concerning face. You looked at him worried. Regulus stood and pulled his bag further up his shoulder. You rolled your eyes and bookmarked your page. Maybe he wants to kill you less, a small friendship to blossom. You know what they say second times the charm. Close enough. You stood and followed after him. He led you out of the library and outside into the courtyard. Regulus sat down under a tree and looked up at you expectantly. You sighed and sat next to him, leaving a space between you. Regulus stared at you with sad eyes. You sent a glare back.

"I'm really sorry. For everything. I miss you, so much. I miss your friendship. I care for you so deeply, when you leave I feel like flowers with no water. I don't think we should've stopped being friends when I caught feelings. I need your love. I need you." Regulus let out a deep breath when he finished his rant, staring at you so he didn't miss a second of your reaction. You sat there blankly. If he could throw you away so easily the first time what's stopping him from a second time?

"Are you asking me to be your friend again?" Regulus bobbed his head side to side. He groaned at your question and pressed his lips together.

"More so begging you to be my friend again." You sat silently for a moment. You looked off towards the school. Technically speaking, you could run away from him now and never speak to anyone ever again.

"I don't want to be your friend." Regulus' face fell. He sat up straight, fixing his posture and looking around the courtyard. You quickly noticed your phrasing and started speaking again. "I wanted to be more, when you first told me you liked me." Regulus glanced back at you.

"Really?" Regulus whispered. You nodded. He stared at you for a moment. You waited patiently, you felt an even colder shoulder coming your way after this. "I want that too." You looked at him partially shocked before remembering his feelings really started this whole ordeal in the first place. You gave him a soft smile, much to his delight. He made you smile again.

"I'm glad. Although I do believe we'll have to have a conversation with Remus." You added. Regulus nodded and gently intertwined your fingers. You felt your body swarm with a buzzing sensation. You had deeply missed his touch, it was nice to be back. He tilted his head to the side, lightly knocking your forehead with his.

"I would really like to kiss you now." Regulus' words were barely above a breath. You grabbed the front of Remus' his sweater and tugged him forward. You pressed you lips against his. He rested his hand on the back of your neck, pulling you even closer. You dropped your hand from his sweater to his knee, pulling it into your lap. Regulus' body was pressed against yours and if he pulled his leg all the way over your lap he'd be straddling you. You nipped at his bottom lip, pulling back for a split second.

"My chapstick will get all over your face." You whispered against him. You knew you'd have to reapply after this.

"Good, I'll taste like you." He pulled you back in, pushing his tongue into your mouth. Kissing him was like nature. It was so easy to fall back into your old habits. If the tree root wasn't pressing into your leg you'd think it was the middle of the night in his bed. It was slightly different this time, it felt more loving. It was in the sunlight, anyone could see, and there was a promise of a relationship behind his lips. You smiled into his kiss, pushing your hand up under his sweater. You heard someone clearing their throat. You both quickly pulled away to look up at the cause. You met your eyes with Remus. You coughed and wiped at your mouth.

"Hey guys." You and Regulus both muttered a hello looking around at anything other than Remus. "This is new" Remus said, gesturing between you two.

"We have decided to put aside our differences." Regulus explained to Remus. Remus chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah I can tell." Remus said. You snorted. Regulus glared at you. You looked away off to the left, avoiding Regulus' eyes. "Alright well up you get, Regulus. We have a date, and darling we will be discussing this later." Remus gently tugged Regulus up by his forearm. Remus pulled Regulus' bag up over his own shoulder, carrying it for Regulus. Remus turned to you and dropped a kiss to your cheek before moving back to Regulus. Regulus linked their elbows together walking off towards their date night. Regulus looked over his shoulder and blew you a kiss. You smiled to yourself, happy to have both of your strange boyfriends.

"matt," you laughed, stumbling over your own feet as you tried to make your way to him.

"c'mon, just a few more steps. don't fall now, darling." he joked, and you swear you felt nauseous at the thought of it.

your eyes glanced to the ground, and you forgot how high up you were. was the alcohol just making it seem higher?

you took the last few steps with caution, and right at the last one, you stepped on your shoelace, causing you to stumble forward.

"shit," matt gasped, grabbing your forearm tight but gentle enough that it wouldn't hurt. he pulled you back, the both of you falling on your asses on the roof.

matt laughed at your shocked expression, acting as if you hadn't almost broken bones. he was always like this, never feeling anything. and even if he did, he would just find it funny.

"what the fuck?" you gasped, and before you could even yell at him, you started to laugh. his laughter was contagious, everyone would agree.

his hold on you didn't last long, quickly pushing you out of his arms and getting to his feet.

finished season 4 last night and i once again have thought i would like to write down!!!

this time written on my phone bc im on holiday and havent gotten the wifi password for my laptop yet so bare with me

- may grant!!! I love that she got a bigger role this season. she’s so great and seeing her grow and learn the same way maddie had to learn was so beautiful to watch. her relationship to her mother is complicated but beautiful and i love that athena learns to accept that may is her own person. I hope we see more of her in season 5 and i hope we see more of athena and may together as well. her listening to her mom’s phonecall to 911…. I cried

-speaking of smaller characters getting bigger roles: josh!!! i LOVED what was basically a “josh begins” episode, he ATEEEEEE that one call where he had to direct several groups of LAPD officers around.

-bobby this season made me fear for a relapse. im so glad that he didnt relapse but im scared for him and worried. I hope he and athena can talk more and tbh i would love to see him open up again to the season 1 trio. chim, hen and buck helped him get sober after his relapse, i want to see them bond and vent together!!! the episode where he and michael played detectives LMFAOO

- i think ive mostly mentioned what i loved about athena this season in previous paragraphs, her relationship with may and her relationship with bobby. i absolutely LOVE how hard she went for that missing her, i loved her rescuing bobby from that sniper. there were some excellent scenes. i love her and hen together, my bestieesssssss!!!! i do wish to see her and bobby in more vulnerable scenes together, the fight and then aftermath of it was beautiful

-hen my love. what a rollercoaster. first of all i love her mom!!! she’s so fun and clearly trying to fix whatever went wrong between them. hen at med school is sosoosososo cool and i love her med school friends. she’s so cool being in med school even with everything else. I love seeing the main cast’s friends OUTSIDE of work, it adds so much to the characters . her and karen truly are so fucking important to me. the foster daughter arc with nia was so beautiful and heartbreaking. like im sorry you KNEW this could happen. but i love that they’re open to new placements even with the pain. and denny being involved!! and being scared of being taken away!!! Pls im gonna cry, the exact fear karen has

-chimney at the beginning of the season pissed me tf off. but then he was there for maddie in person and they were amazing!! girl dad chimney!! i love him, he loves his kid so much pleaseeeeee… and him telling the people who raised him how imporant they are to him. i love his character idk guys, hes just so wonderful to me. even if he clearly didnt see the signs of maddies post partum depression

- albert literally almost dying while his niece was being brought into the world was so fucking stressful jesus christ. i love him and i love his friendship with buck. uncle besties 4 life!!!

- maddie i love you so much. she was so beautiful this season, she deserves the world. she was so ready to be a mom but then post partum depression hit :( i hope she gets better, im glad she asked for help. her and buck’s storyline this season… the secret brother… for fucks sake how shocking and how HEAVY of a burden that must be to carry for so long. I love her so much.

- buck this season going to therapy…. Damn dont get too mentally stable or else they won’t know what to do with you anymore hahahaah!! nvm watch your loveofyourlife bestie get shot in front of you, have to crawl under a truck even with your trauma to save him and then literally try to keep him alive until the hospital only to then have to tell his son what is happening. heres moreeeee traumaaaaaaaa woooohooooo!!! ngl i liked him and taylor kelly this season, i kinda wish they would remain friends but i can deal with her as a love interest for now. shes an interesting character! his whole world being turned upside down when he was just starting to get better from the therapy by her sister admitting to them having a brother and him being born for spare parts. love you king, sorry you never get to be fully happy with yourself!

- eddie diaz you absolute cutie pie. will you ever be happy? Idk but you sure were bitchy this season. i fucking LOVED it, please tell me we get your bitchy ass back for season 5. him in the jinx episode??? I laughed so hard, truly an icon. I love ana flores but that man simply doesnt know what to do with a woman like her. oranywomanforthatmatter. him and chris is always beautiful, that is MY family. he loves that kid so muchz and him putting buck in the will?? hand in marriage next…. I knew what was coming from spoilers online but him being shot and the scenes after that of buck getting him inside the truck were so fucking nerve racking and also FUN!! what a moment.

Nvm, lemme explain-

Since Mammon was the brother that treated MC kindly the most they naturally fall for him, but once new human arrives you know the song and dance of becoming cold and all, but instead of collecting all the brothers like infinity stones, the new human goes straight for one or multiple brothers excluding Mammon.

The new human rejects Mammon for him having the "Scummy second born" tag stuck to him so after being rejected Mammon takes it out on MC and they let it happen because of their unrequited love for Mammon.

This happens a few times, whetever it is insults or lovebombing MC, Mammon always comes to MC to relieve his pent up emotions, MC is not so innocent either, they purposefully rile up Mammon doing things like mentioning the new human's relationship with his brothers or pointing it out whenever new human is having some PDA with another brother.

After a while however, it becomes less twisted for Mammon and more twisted for MC, Mammon realizes that MC has always been there for him since they came to the devildom, even managing to change his brothers' perspective of him so they wouldn't hurt him anymore, but because of him alienating and then hurting them their affection had become a twisted obsession.

Mammon blames himself for this, rightfully so and expresses his guilt to MC, who takes this an an opportunity to claim Mammon for themselves, but they weren't on their right mind and are both mentally unstable and paranoid, Mammon felt unsettled by the obsessive look on their face but fully accpets their every demand, innocent things like waering matching clothes to overly marking Mammon's neck area with bites and hickeys.

However this does not help MC's paranoia over loosing Mammon, adding up the fact that the other brothes had actually turned on them finally dawning in and their low self esteem MC finally processes the situation and has a breakdown.

Even so, after all of the things that happened between them Mammon is still there for them and help them through it, MC can only explain how they felt scared and anxious about loosing who they saw as the only positive light in their life after coming to the devildom, Mammon shared his feeling with them too, asking to be forgiven for dragging them to such a low point by his ignorance, saying that even before the new human came their feelings had been mutual.

After this their relationship becomes a real actual relationship and not a one sided demand, they love and care for eachother and make sure to share their feelings whenever their feel insecure, angry or sad. The others around them can tell too that this time they're actually happy with eachother, and slowly reconcile their broken familial relationship, the new human finally has a chance to apologize MC since it wasn't their intention to turn the brothers away from them and so had realized MC and Mammon's feelings for eachother and purposefully excluded Mammon as possible romantic interest.

All this time the new human had been trying hard to make the brothers reduce their new found hostility MC, who new human already had seen as a essential part of the Morningstar family, and talked some sense into the demons' heads too, who apologized for hurting MC emotionally and physically before.

In the end both humans that form part of the Morningstar family become good friends and apologize for the trouble they didn't mean to cause to eachother in the first place and actually become good friends.

Also during the part that MC and Mammon where in their limbo like relationship of "he's/they're doing this because he/they hate/s me, he/they definitely hate/s me" the other brothers were definitely like "when will those idiots realize they have the same insecurities and fears, for fucks sake, just say you love eachother already".

okay...so i read the book in 3 days....which....im very proud of myself bc it takes me so long to finish books but that’s not why you are reading this.

im not going to lie to you...i liked the book. i love angst, and this had plenty of it and i liked it. if you like books such as: harry potter, six of crows, red queen, red white and royal blue you will not like this book. i know many people found it boring, which yeah i can see that, but i didn't find it boring at all. but mostly because i love boring books but that's beside the point. 

the book flowed easily, there isn't a bunch of raunchy sex scenes that ive seen people say it has (i...the things ive read idk what book they even read????) and Tom does has backward views on marriage and what it means to be a wife. but he is not overtly sexist or misogynist or abusive, or subvertly those things either. to be frank he's a scared gay man in the 50s trying to not get caught and thrown in jail. that's literally it. (ill go more into detail on him later). but if you want to read this book i recommend you go in knowing that there will be homophobia (the word queer is used as a slur....3 times or 4 but no more than 5), expect outing, expect not supportive characters, and remember to have some compassion (more on this later).

next i want to go into characters: starting with tom, then Marion, then Patrick, and then the other characters. so if you are planning on reading this book or just dont want to be spoiled them....don't read the next bit.

Tom:

I'm going to get this out of the way.........Tom (who we never get to know outside of the two-point of views we are presented with, and who is being played by Harry) is a police officer in the 50s UK. to be frank when the rumors first went around I was mad like a lot of people were, which is funny because when we got those pictures of harry reading the book before all the speculation we were....happy, that he was reading a book about a gay man. now...I don't care honestly. I could call out the hypocrites (i won't) and honestly I'm hypocritical myself. I use to watch shows like svu (if you were to turn it on right now I wouldn't turn it off) and I enjoyed watching svu. I know and have seen a lot of mutuals, people on my dash enjoy cop shows like b99, or who like actors who have played the character of police before. so it would be hypocritical of me to be mad at him (this is just my single black opinion) and then go and turn on svu (which I don't do anymore). 

I'm not saying that no one can be mad, I'm not saying that the anger people have at him playing this role is bad or not needed or valid. all I'm saying is.....is that I don't care. I got angry over this months ago, and all that anger I felt I don't have anymore, and I can't tell you why. Harry is playing an abusive demented husband who traps his wife in a simulation, and then he will play a gay policeman trying not to face persecution..........and that's that. nothing I can say will reach him, he's playing these roles and there is nothing I can do. will I watch them (pirating of course) yes.

anyways let's get back to tom's character (do not use my opinion to silence other black people I will find you....don't do that shit weirdo): tom is......tom?? like I literally was expecting the worst when I read this because of what other people had to say. but as I'm reading him through the eyes of Marion (his wife) and through the eyes of Patrick (his...true love, fuck the 50s I hate the 50s) one word came to mind constantly: scared. Tom is very scared that he will be found out and his life will be ruined. His family knows about him, which is why I think his father (more on him later) pushed him to be in the national service (where he was a cook, which disappointed him). you don't realize his family knows and then his sister says something and then you go 'wait....THEY KNEW???' and then you will go 'oh so that's why-' 

tom does have old fashion views that you would expect of any man at that time (gay or not it's the 50s and gay men are still capable of saying sexist shit). when asked by Patrick if women should still work after having a kid he said no it's the men's job to provide, Marion said she would like to keep working, he said no when they do have a baby (they literally never did, and idk why he thought he could be intimate with her for that long to produce a baby lol). that's....the most sexist thing he said in the whole book (there maybe some small things im forgetting but nothing that really stood out). that's it. I know it's not small and that was a legitimate issue in the 50s but yeah. Just in case you were apprehensive about Tom's character being a raging woman-hater, no,....he just wasn't a true feminist yet (???? I don't know that's like..the most this book says about an issue women were facing at this time). It's still bad what he said (you'll see how Marion justifies it in the book and both Patrick and her don't agree and try and challenge him on his view).

i dont want to go too in depth but it is very obvious from the beginning he has no and i mean ZEROOOO interest in her at all (you can tell when it hits him that he needs a wife and he starts to act a littleee different but it's not romantic at alll). 

i feel like my review on tom is shit but like!! we don't really get to know him without bias from Patrick and Marion. I think Harry will play a wonderful Tom (even tho he doesn't not fit the description for Tom...at all....like at alllll).

To summarize Tom: very scared gay man from the 50s who is trying to do everything he can to not be found out. his family knows, even he knew at a young age, and yes he does quit being a police officer but it doesn't happen as soon as id like but then again he wasn't one for that long if you pay attention to the years.

this is a note i wrote that sums up her and tom's relationship (which is more like friends then anything romantic i mean god their honeymoon was horrible and he proposed to her....nvm 😑)

listen...i can't lie and say i didn't feel sorry for her up until the end when she (spoilers: she outs patrick to his employer which ends up with him getting arrested). after that...ive never hated a character more in my fucking LIFEEEE like oh my god i was pissed

all she does is have fantasies about him being romantic with her (holding hands, hugging, etc) and none of them come true...BECAUSE HES GAYYYYYY i really....the author could have done a better job because there were so many damn red flags.

she's fucking annoying and whiny and yeah it sucked to be a woman in the 50s but you literally outed someone your husband was in love with and thought that you could just go back to being married like he's not devastated and instead of telling what you did you stayed unhappy and made your husband thing that at any point they were coming for him too.......*****

Patrick and tom deserved a fighting fucking chance i hate the fuck 50s fuck you 50s!!!! I absolutely LOVEDDD his pov and seeing Tom through his pov like it was just so damn refreshing seeing the world through his eyes and how he navigates his queerness in the society they live in. (the dichotomy between a proud gay man and a scared maybe proud but fear overrules that (talking about Tom here) gay man).

There was a lot more to say on how gay men were being persecuted at this time than how women were treated in this particular book. There were some little things here and there about what was expected of Marion as a wife and of a girl/woman at that time but it wasn't the focus.

I loved seeing the way Patrick navigated through his world of art and creativity. And how Tom seemed to fit right in with him.

I hate the things the author made Patrick go through (outed, sent to prison, stripped of his job, and later on in the present day he has had 2 strokes in his 70s). it felt a bit much but it's not too distracting (Patricks pov takes place in the past as he writes in his journal). 

Patrick and Julia (more on her later) are my two favorites in the whole book (Tom is third bc he's a very multi-facted character, Marion is not even on the list) and I wish we got a lot more of Patrick's pov.

Tom's parents: his father is abusive point-blank. or at least i think he's abusive (verbally). as im writing this i am now realizing that the way Tom's mom reacts to him (sometimes crying) is bc they knew he was gay omg wow.

tom's dad is very much a man's man guy?? Picture a sexist man from the 50s....now picture him with a gay son.....yeah, I'm not surprised Tom went into national service then to the police force. you can tell he didn't want anyone to find out about Tom so he pushed him to do what he thought best and Tom went with it, scared. 

overall: please do not go into this book expected things to be all flowers and rainbows...this is a book about two gay men in the 50s yall.....

there is something to be said about the tragedy that is in a lot of queer stories, I'm more interested in how white these stories are (that's a rant for another time). but I don't mind my policeman, and i think stories like this should be told. because this actually happened (here is a link to em forster's story where the author takes inspiration from, he really had an affair with a policeman!!! who had a wife!!!).

the ending is bittersweet, and i couldn't help but curse for what could have been. Marion could have not outed Patrick (which she instantly regretted), she could have gotten a divorce (she even contemplated it), they could have been more secretive, Julia could have not said what she said. I think Patrick and Tom were sadly doomed from the start, I just wish they had more time together because I loved seeing their love (the little glimpse we got) bloom into something bigger than them.

“He kinda scares me, honestly,” Soonyoung shrugged like he was agreeing with her.

You let out a deep sigh, “He’s not that bad, okay. He’s just--”

“Hello,” a new voice pulled you away from your conversation with your friends.

The three of you turned your heads away from each other to share at the relatively short boy in front of you. Despite his kind smile, you didn’t trust him. You didn’t trust any man at a party -- no, you just didn’t trust any man you didn’t know in general.

“Hey,” Soonyoung thankfully knew enough to step up in this situation. “Can I help you?”

“Oh, I just recognized her,” he replied, pointing to you.

“Me?” you quizzed.

Ellie leaned in toward you, saying just loud enough for only you to hear over the music, “A fan, maybe?”

“Nobody who watches my streams knows what I look like,” you replied. “Unless he’s a stalker...”

“Oh, right,” he chuckled, “this probably seems so weird. I’m really sorry. My name’s Hui, I’m one of Hongseok’s friends.”

Your heart dropped, “Hong...seok...?”

“Hongseok?” Soonyoung repeated louder. “The guy she’s been hanging out with?”

“Yeah, he told me a little bit about you. Granted, he didn’t say much because I guess he doesn’t want to make his relationship super public.”

“Relationship?” you asked too quiet for him to hear over the loud music.

“Honestly,” he continued, still laughing, “none of us thought he’d ever get a girlfriend.”

“Girlfriend?!” you burst, probably looking crazy with the way your eyes widened and your eyebrows furrowed.

“Hui--!”

Your eyes found a very familiar person run up behind Hui. Hongseok had a hand out to him, about to grab his shoulder and tear you away, but he saw the look you gave him when your eyes landed on him. You looked bewildered, your eyes silently asking him -- no, demanding more like it -- for answers.

He was too late.

Yanan strolled up behind him, eyebrows raising when he saw you and your little group, “Oh, _____! I see you’ve met Hui.”

They didn’t notice that by this time, the rest of their friends had gathered in the living room by the fireplace, but were now silently watching everything unfold.

Hongseok’s head whipped around, looking up at the younger boy, “You know her?”

“You know him?” you demanded, pointing to Hongseok.

“What’s--”

“Uh, Hui,” Yanan cut in before he could ask whatever it was he was going to ask, “I think we should let the lovebirds talk for a bit, don’t you? They’re still going through the honeymoon phase so they probably wanna be alone.”

“Honeymoon phase?” you repeated.

“Let’s go,” he pulled the older boy away by his shoulders before ushering the rest of his friends away.

Your friends, however, stayed as you walked past Soonyoung to approach Hongseok, glaring up at him, “What the hell are they talking about?”

“______, I can explain--”

“Good. Then explain why the fuck your friend just called me your girlfriend!”

“Listen, I know it seems bad but I just needed them to think I had a girlfriend so they’d hang out with me again,” he quickly tried to explain, holding his hands out in surrender -- and to keep you from walking closer to him considering how angry you looked.

“So you told them we’re dating?!”

“Well, I-- Um--”

“Dude just admit you fucked up,” Soonyoung told him, shaking his head.

“It’s not like it was actually real, _____,” Hongseok said, trying to do anything to calm you down.

“How dare you?!” you shouted. “That wasn’t part of our agreement.”

“I know, but I--”

You couldn’t believe this pompous asshole told all of his friends you were his girlfriend. So in your blind rage, you pulled back and slapped your palm across his cheek, the sound echoing even over the music. People nearby stared, but you didn’t care. You were already shoving past Hongseok before he could turn his head back to face you, his hand cupping his cheek. Ellie chased after you while Soonyoung stayed back for a second to glare up at him.

“You deserved that,” he told him before going to catch up with the two of you.
