[MvC Palette Swap Character #5] : Armored Spider-Man
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This palette swapped version of Spider-Man is based on a silver and metal suit of armor worn by Peter Parker in the 90’s.
The odd thing about this palette swap is that he actually uses less colors than his source character. As such, Armored Spidey's details are dulled, so he doesn't pop as much as the classic red and blue version. It's a shame because this is one of my all-time favorite Spider-Man looks.
Tumblr media
Even with the limited color count, I really like Armored Spider-Man's alternate palette. They definitely should've made this the default look.

I decided to draw a spider man armor from a toy called "Spider-Man Armored, Titan Hero Series Web Warriors". Since nowhere did I find normal images of this armor. Friends suggested that this toy came out for the animated series "Ultimate Spider-Man". That is, the version of this armor from the universe "Earth-12041". As a reference for Spider-Man's pose, I took a frame from the game "Spider-Man (2018)". Used in drawing: Liners (0.3-0.7), colored pencils, felt-tip pens.

Fastest Growing Fandoms on AO3 This Week (09/18/2023)
Every week I pull data on how many fics are in each fandom and compare to the previous week, then calculate the percentage increase to determine fastest growing fandoms.  Since this naturally skews towards smaller fandoms, I have included the same data filtered to Over 1k, 5k, & 10k fics.
Overall:

here's a weird au idea
so what-if Iron Man: Armored Adventures, X-Men: Evolution, and Spetacular Spider-Man (note that I've only watched a few episodes of Amored Adventures and I think I may of watched a few episodes of Spectacular Spider-Man when I was younger, but you can't be sure.)
They're all teenage aus (again, note that Spectacular Spider-Man still would've kinda counted as a teenage au, as at the time, the movies had Peter in college. Take that with a grain of salt as I haven't watched any of the Raimi trilogy.) that were all released during the 2000s. They don't really connect in any way, except in small refrences (I'm pretty sure I've heard online that in one of the episodes of X-Men: Evolution, theres a sign saying "Stark Enterprises" on it.), but who cares!
I call this, the Teenageverse!

Tony is absolutely not the team leader here... but he sure is acting like he is... a problem he will have for a while really...

I feel if MCU Peter met Armored Adventures Tony, he’d refrain from calling Mr. Stark and calls him Tony…
That and Armored Adventures Tony is gonna be shocked that every MCU villain is dead via the heroes, their own hand unintentionally or suicide while he has laundry list of villains who are still breathing.

One of my toxic traits as a superhero fan is when adaptations make the villain connected to the hero’s origin I sometimes like it and sometimes don’t and either way I usually have no specific reasoning for my opinion other than Vibes.
#in most cases i actually do like it#the spider that bit peter parker being altered by oscorp a la ultimate comics? cool.#brainiac playing a role in krypton's destruction a la dcau and injustice? cool.#mandarin being directly or indirectly responsible for iron man's origin a la the 90s cartoon and mcu? cool.#magneto being responsible for professor x getting paralyzed a la first class? actually better than how it happened in the comics#doctor doom being involved in the fantastic four's origin? eeeh depends#i don't like the ultimate version or either of the movie versions where he also gets powers in the same incident#and also his skin is actually metal instead of wearing armor#that shit's lame#but i DO like the world's greatest heroes cartoon where he sabotages their mission by lowering their shields#and THAT'S what leads to them getting powers and also causes the explosion that scars him#way i see it if he HAS to be part of their origin the way that show did it was best#the only major example or the villain creating the hero where i NEVER like it is when joker is responsible for the wayne deaths#be it directly like in the tim burton movie or indirectly like that joker movie that didn't need to exist#like joker being responsible for batman's parents dying is just way too coincidental#some of those other examples are also kinda coincidental but they at least feel like natural connections to make#whereas joker creating batman is just forced#oh and sandman killing uncle ben in the raimi movies and black cat's dad killing him in spectacular for the same reason#the murders of the waynes and uncle ben both just work better when the killer is just some random crook whose identity isn't important#but yeah the rest of those examples are all perfectly fine with me lmao#shut up tristan
