This is legitimately the most upsetting thing that has ever happened to one of my favorite characters because a different company got the IP. I suspect the bug space captain thing only happened because the Dark Horse team specifically wanted to interfere with Brian Lynch's ability to wrap up his Spike comics in a way that made sense, and yet he still managed it.

Anyway, yeah, (SOME OF) the comics are why Spike is among my very favorite characters, and I am so glad to see someone giving them some love!

it's actually so tragic that the comics canonized spike as a heroic space captain that had adventures with aliens for like a year but then they proceeded to do basically nothing with that. and then his ship exploded and it was never brought up again. though to be fair that Would Happen. i just wish it had been a little sillier. oh well. that's what the human power of imagination is for i guess. oh yeah also not only were there aliens but there was also The Alien. like from the movie. yeah. that was also treated very casually and then never elaborated on
