thoughts on Claude/Lysithea and Edelgard/Rhea since they won first and second place on the poll that just closed
Ok, let's start with Edelgard/Rhea! I was surprised it was more popular than rhealeth (in the poll)! I remember when I first heard of this ship and I do like shipping enemies so I was like 'huh, interesting!' But I admit I couldn't, at the time, think of how it would actually work in a story. I'm still interested in this theoretically, so if anyone knows of a good fic, I'm open to it.
I lovelovelove platonic claude&lysithea. I love the idea of Claude being an annoying big brother figure to Lysithea. I love the idea of Lysithea not noticing how important she is to him (and he is to her). Because of my attachment to this headcanon, I'm less interested in seeing them as an actual couple.
I actually sketched (ages ago) a small dimiclaude comic featuring mostly Claude and Lysithea inspired by my fic, "a place to rest" (sorry my handwriting is terrible as this wasn't meant to be posted)(it's bigger than this and it explains the actual context - askr spring festival - but i'm posting only what's relevant to my point):

I'm going to assume that Lysithea is Hopes Lysithea/Fallen Lysithea, either that or IS really have forgotten the game they wrote where there's contradictions to the whole "crests enable nobility" argument.
Yeah, I don't know when this alt was released, but it's likely she's supposed to be either CF Lysithea (So Liesithea...?), maybe in anticipation of Hopes, or Fallen Lysithea, as you said.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, KT did write a lot of the lore/story elements. Maybe someone at IS asked about Lysithea to a KT dev who happened to be a... not so objective Edelstan and this is what we got as a result? And... it's totally fine to have a fave even as a dev obviously, but when you create something that will then become at least a semi-canon element of a game, you can't play favourites like this.
Or maybe Edelgard always planned to snatch Lysithea and somehow managed to order a brainwash-helmet (well... hat in this case) from Zephia?

I'M SORRY FOR WORDING IT LIKE THAT I played the Golden Deers, some of my favorite queer ship are with Deers and some of my favorite character are among the deers! My favorite deer ship is probably Leonie x Lysithea ( She litteraly say Leonie would make an incredible partner! Why do their support stop at B again?? ) and my otp is Hilda x Edelgard ( do not judge me I have REASONS ). And also, one of my favorite queer headcanon is trans aro-ace Claude! So I genuinely love the Deers as queers!
However, for me the deer and the diverse queer content around them is heavily a fandom thing. When I say the deer are "too straight for me", I meant it for the game directly. Like you have the Black Eagles where not only litteraly every characters is canon queer/has heavily subtext but has also its whole narrative drenched in queer metaphor! You have the Blue Lions where, while there's less "canon queer", you litteraly cannot say most of its members are straight with how heavy the subtext that's barely even subtext anymore is: there's 0 straight explanation for Felix crying more at Dimitri death than his wife, or him dying the same day as Sylvain because they can't live without each other.
But for the Deers... You have Hilda/Marianne and Claude/Lorenz as the most popular one but while their relationship are so fascinating, when you only look only at the game, they feel too platonic? Especially compared to a Dedue/Dimitri ( like a family in private. took up a post at his grave for the most of his days. BURIED BESIDE EACHOTHER ) or a Ferdinand/Hubert ( rare A+ support, with blushing, their own little surname, Ferdinand/Edelgard support changing just to mention Ferdinand drinking coffee ). Otherwise you have Leonie/Lysithea which stop at B. You have Raphael/Ignatz where they decided to just push the relationship to make their ending all about Ignatz with his sister.
Like really, the Deers manage to have less in game queer moment than the Church of Seiros, Rhea aside, of all things! We were so robbed! The rainbow house deserve better. I'm a lesbian and after all my playthrough Verdant Winds was my only route where I had to marry a man, all I wanted was a lavender wedding with Claude while I have a passionate romance with Leonie :(
To sum up: Lysithea and Leonie should kiss, Intelligent Systems are fucking cowards
For the fandom I'll have to disagree, I think the Deers have a lot a queer content and it's amazing :] My only thing might be how Claude has become the first character you think of when talking about bi fe3h character which is kinda telling how wlw are dismissed in the general fandom, but its better than some people insisting he's totally straigh so eh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
( Also I big agree on Hilda support being gem, she's such a great character and one that's much more complex than given credit for!! )
Oh and I think I disagree with Deers being the more family found-esq ( saying that bc it's a great subject of I discussion and I want to hear more about your opinion on the matter )
The Lions is the family where they all stick together through thick and thin, following Dimitri to hell and back, but their relationship are complexe and not always healthy ( mostly at the beginning with like Dimitri & Felix or Ingrid & Sylvain ).
The Eagles are the found family where a lot of them bitch about each other at first but they end up with deep relationship where they take care for each other and stand together against the world, even sticking together during the time skip ( also because they kinda all killed each other dad ).
The Deers are for me more like an actual close group of friend: their life are not going to revolve around each other like it does with the other houses, but they won't hesitate to come for that 5 years reunion to see the other. It's kinda like you say they're so normal in a good way! They tease each other but they don't hate each other in the way of a Dimitri/Felix, a Caspar/Petra, a Ferdinand/Hubert ( except for Lorenz but like, it's Lorenz ). They won't kill the other dad, but they'll sure as hell support each other like Lorenz and Ignatz or Marianne and Raphael. They might not start a revolution together but they will listen to the other even when it’s total heresy ( Leonie & Claude, such an incredible support :’) ) and help the other to reach their goal… I do agree with you it’s linked to not knowing each other before, but on that, isn’t knowing each other before more of a Lion thing than not knowing being a Deer thing? I don’t know, the BE are kind of a middle ground.
( Sorry for my ramblings- It's so fun talking about the deers )
AA anon thank you for the long ask!! Okay I'm gonna take this point by point under the readmore!
"My favorite deer ship s probably Leonie x Lysithea ( She litteraly say Leonie would make an incredible partner! Why do their support stop at B again?? )"
INCREDIBLY fair and based of you, lol, I read Lysithea as gay and it's 100% because of the support conversations she has with Leonie and Hilda (which to me implies an ADORABLE crush--Lysithea seems to genuinely respect and admire Hilda which is not something you'd expect from like, a surface level reading of their characters).
I'm gonna admit my own bias here in terms of canon text endings--my favorite Lysithea ending is her paired ending with Lorenz. It really reads like a queer platonic relationship to me--I don't really get romantic vibes from either of them (gay as they are) towards each other, but the commitment and care they have for each other genuinely warms my heart. Especially the fact that like, Lorenz is SO determined to ensure Lysithea takes care of herself and the ending doesn't really imply that she dies young (only that her health is delicate/poor) in comparison to others, and she and her family get to live the quiet life they want. Of course, as an aro/ace disabled person, I think it probably hits differently for me than people who aren't just because of the fact that after the most recent time I saw their support chain/got their ending I teared up a bit (and also why I'm now adoring your trans-aro-ace Claude).
ANYWAYS, I agree IS are cowards and that's why Edelgard is the only Lord who can romance both male/female Byleth.
"For the fandom I'll have to disagree, I think the Deers have a lot a queer content and it's amazing :]"
I probably didn't word what I meant completely lol correctly-- it's not that the Deer don't have a lot of queer content, it's just that overall, they have less content in general made for them then the Black Eagles and Blue Lions.
I do ALSO love so much of the queer content made for the Deers! The Three Houses fandom is amazing.
"My only thing might be how Claude has become the first character you think of when talking about bi fe3h character which is kinda telling how wlw are dismissed in the general fandom, but its better than some people insisting he's totally straight so eh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
Okay, so I was kind of dancing around saying this to your last ask but you hit the nail on the head lol. I genuinely think the reason why the Deer might come across as less queer is because the "main ship" for them, so to speak, is the WLW pairing Hilda/Marianne.
Ironically when I think about bi fe3h characters my first thought is consistently Lindhardt?
"Oh and I think I disagree with Deers being the more family found-esq ( saying that bc it's a great subject of I discussion and I want to hear more about your opinion on the matter )
The Lions is the family where they all stick together through thick and thin, following Dimitri to hell and back, but their relationship are complexe and not always healthy ( mostly at the beginning with like Dimitri & Felix or Ingrid & Sylvain ).
The Eagles are the found family where a lot of them bitch about each other at first but they end up with deep relationship where they take care for each other and stand together against the world, even sticking together during the time skip ( also because they kinda all killed each other dad )."
Okay so I definitely agree with you that they're all found family, explicitly in the text lol. What I meant in my statement that they're the most found-family-esq is that you get to see the development of ALL their relationships and becoming that family together on screen.
The Lions (a mess, and I love them), are pretty heavily involved with each other at the beginning of the game. A lot of the intrigue with them is the fact that they all have backstory stuff going on with each other (save for Ashe, I think, but we kill his dad on screen so). Mercedes and Annette went to Sorcery School together, Felix/Sylvain/Dimitri/Ingrid are all childhood friends with intense complications, and the trauma and deliberate kindness that brought together Dimitri and Dedue makes me emotional.
Similarly to them, the Black Eagles all have a history with each other (save for Dorothea) as well. There's the insane and amazing devotion between Edelgard and Hubert, Lindhardt and Caspar's childhood friendship, the onesided rivalry going on between Ferdinand and Edelgard since they were kids and Hubert's judgement of Ferdinand for it. Petra and Bernadetta, technically don't have pre-established relationships with the others, but in ways that are deliberately intense. Petra is blatantly a political hostage in the Academy Era in a way that really informs her relationship with Edelgard and Hubert even before they get to know her. Additionally Bernadetta's isolation creates a kind of infamy between her and the other nobles.
The Golden Deer, on the other hand, don't really have as many intense bonds going in (and thus, in my opinion, makes it easier for Byleth to integrate amongst them as an eventual equal). There's the preestablished dynamic of Lorenz being suspicious of and wanting to best Claude, but it's a recently developed dynamic, as Claude only appeared a year ago. This would be a bigger personal issue if he was leading a house like the Blue Lions or the Black Eagles (noble heavy as they are), but it's barely an issue in the Deer and not just because of the commoners. Hilda, Lorenz, Lysithea, and Marianne are not close. In all his supports with the three of them, Lorenz is the one reaching out because of his belief that their time in the Academy should be used to form better and closer connections with other nobles. There is nothing to imply that there was any substance to their pre-existing relationships. The only two who have anything to their relationship before the game starts, are Raph and Iganatz, who haven't spoken in years, mostly due to guilt on Ignatz's behalf for what happened to Raphael's family.
So as a result, you get to see the bonds being formed and deepened with the Golden Deer from scrap. Obviously some development happens off screen during the time skip, but other than that the Deer's found family forms and develops completely on screen, which is why I think it's the most found family-esq of the three.
In fact, it's a huge part of Claude's story. It's something you don't really notice in his route, but it's really clear when you don't pick him. While Edelgard and Dimitri kind of can't function and literally can't without Byleth's support, Claude has probably the highest survivability rate when you don't choose him of any character save technically Marianne. He survives the Blue Lions route, the Black Eagles route (if you spare him), and is implied to have survived the Silver Snow route. When he doesn't have Byleth, he still survives, so not choosing him isn't as dramatic. But it's easy to see that without Byleth as a teacher, he doesn't open up enough to the Deer. Dimitri and Edelgard have assured loyalty from their houses (even Ferdie and Felix) becuase of these pre-established relationships and positions, but Claude has to earn it. That's why Hilda, despite being his vassal, is recruit-able so long as you don't choose Black Eagles (the only route where he can die). Without Byleth, although the Deer do grow close, they don't do it as quick or as closely as they do with the Professor. Claude is a character who's never been able to truly rely on others, even if they care about him, and being able to rely on Byleth allows him to open up and rely on the Deer and truly trust them. I mean, Claude's two most relied upon people in the Deer (as seen in 3Hopes when he goes against Dimitri) are Hilda and Lorenz. I don't think people talk enough about how insane it is that Claude trusts Hilda Goneril with his life, considering he's an Alymran prince.
That's also why I think the Deer are so good for Byleth. I don't think any of the other route's are bad for Byleth at all, but I think the deer provide something to Byleth that neither the Lions or the Eagles can bring to her: a single of equivalency. Byleth is only slightly older than her students in the Academy Era and is in fact younger than most of them in the War Era, and yet it's only really with the Deer that she feels like she's amongst peers (whether it be because of the commoner/noble ratio or that she's as much of a stranger to them as they are to each other.) I mean, Claude is literally the only character who doesn't call refer to her by her Profession.
Anyways, TLDR: I think they're the most found family because a huge part of the Golden Deer route is them getting to know and love each other from scratch, and being a found family is a much bigger thematic aspect for them then it is for the other two houses.
"However, for me the deer and the diverse queer content around them is heavily a fandom thing. When I say the deer are "too straight for me", I meant it for the game directly. Like you have the Black Eagles where not only litteraly every characters is canon queer/has heavily subtext but has also its whole narrative drenched in queer metaphor! Otherwise you have Leonie/Lysithea which stop at B. You have Raphael/Ignatz where they decided to just push the relationship to make their ending all about Ignatz with his sister."
Okay, so I definitely agree with you that those things are canon queer and subtext, and that it's a shame they don't push the Raphael/Ignatz stuff and focus on Ignatz and Raph's sister (which is admittedly adorable to me).
Again, I'm aro/ace, so for me, queerness doesn't necessarily require romance as a prerequisite? Which is why I like Lorenz and Lysithea's ending, lol.
Hilda/Marianne in no way reads platonic to me, so I really disagree with you there. Hilda treats Marianne completely differently to how she treats everyone else in game. Their support chain is focused on how Hilda, who manipulates her way out of doing anything she doesn't want to, chooses to consistently over and over again do things for Marianne that she can't, and refuses to let Marianne feel bad over it. She leverages this into Marianne buying her pastries and them having a lunch date together. Their A support consists of Marianne questioning their regular dynamic of doing this and Hilda reassuring that she enjoys it so much she'd feel odd if it changed. They compliment each other to the point where Hilda starts to get a little flustered, and Hilda's even able to poke fun a little at Marianne and get Marianne to poke fun at her back. Marianne laughs at Hilda, and Hilda textually thinks it's adorable and can't even get mad at it because it's so cute. Marianne seems so genuinely happy and herself (even in negative ways!) with Hilda, and can rely on her in a way that doesn't make her feel inadequate or a burden.
I can understand as being able to view Claude/Lorenz as platonic, especially since I will never diverge from my Claude/Byleth endings, but I think they can also still be read pretty textually clear and potentially romantic. Part of this is Lorenz, who just, is very clearly gay to me? But again, part of this is the fact that a huge part of the Lorenz/Claude dynamic is them being viewed textually as equals, which is something that will and can never happen with Edelgard/Dimitri and their rival characters. Their support chain is all about getting to know and respect each other as they grow to care for one another, and while it isn't explicitly as romantic as Marianne/Hilda, I think their paired ending really speaks a lot for itself, in that Claude trusts Lorenz to be Fodlan's face of diplomacy towards Almyra. He trusts Lorenz to help him achieve his dream in the most direct way possible, something I think you can absolutely compare to his relationship with Byleth in their S-Support. Additionally about their support chain, their A-support really is about affirming to the player how close they've become, how fond they are of each other, and how neither of them can imagine the future of Fodlan without the other one in it. While there isn't a lot of direct text between Claude/Lorenz, I think there is absolutely enough subtext that you could read them romantically, especially from Lorenz's POV. The hard thing with this game is that each character needs to be able to be paired with Byleth, so they can never be textually obviously/blatantly in love with another character save for Byleth until their paired ending, and I think that absolutely holds doubly true for Lord characters, which is why I think Claude/Lorenz relies more on subtext.
I do think it's a shame that Lysithea doesn't have any A supports with women in her own house. Leonie like you mentioned is an adorable one, and I think Lysithea has a huge crush on Hilda in the ones with her, and there is definite potential in the one she has with Marianne (which in my opinion is a kinder, more gentle version of her supports with Ignatz).
I also think there's a few other support chains where there is a queer romance blossoming, they just don't get the chance to have an ending. A big one for me, personally, that I think deserved more, is Ignatz and Lorenz. I also think Leonie and Marianne's support chain was very cute, and deserved an A.
This is kind of what I was saying when I answered your last ask, I think, wherein the Deer have queer romance, but because the don't have a big blow up mlm ship (Claude is more often shipped with Dimitri + a lot of people aren't as fond of Lorenz as I think they should be lol), they kind of get sidelined as their big queer ship is WLW. And unfortunately in most fandoms, wlw ships are rarely as popular or have as much pushing force.
And also, I think, that the deer are queer without having as much romance. Their romantic pairings are far less set in store then the other two houses, I think, and part of that is because a lot of their endings read really queer platonic to me. Plus, a lot of the heavy romance lifting in the explicit text for a lot of supports tends to happen in the A/A+ region, and a several of the wlw/mlm golden deer pairings only go to B, which I think is a shame and forces them to rely more on subtext.
Additionally, because they're not the revolutionary or chivalry aligned House, a lot of their endings aren't written as...dramatically? Like I adore Felix/Sylvain to death (I have a print of them hanging next to my Claude one lol), but their childhood promise is very much the product of living in Faergus, similarly to how Hubert and Ferdinand's relationship is defined by them living in the Empire. I think because the Alliance politics are far less dramatic (or are far more dramatic in a visibly different way) the subtext for Claude and Lorenz's Romeo/Juliet for politics thing doesn't come across as huge as two characters who promised to die with each other as kids and keep it (insane I love them).
That's why in my original post I talk about loving how normal the Deer are, and I think ultimately a part of that comes from their setting: the Alliance. In my first play through, I specifically chose having my loyalties lie (in the initial meeting with the Lords) with the Alliance, because to me, someone who had no real context for the game, the Alliance was the closest thing to a democracy from what little we'd hard of each nation. Politics informs almost every aspect of the Golden Deer; sure it's played for angst and importance in the other two routes (Duscur/Sylvain's Crest Complex/Felix's problem with the chivalry system for the Blue Lions--with the latter two never being things that are textually resolved in the Kingdom's government--and Enbarr/those who Slither in the Dark for the Black Eagles), but Claude actually has to balance what other lords want in the War phase, and it's his ability to be so good at politicking that enables the Alliance to consistently remain neutral in the war. So a lot of the subtext stuff comes to fruition through the realm of politics in a way it doesn't entirely through the other two, if that makes sense. It's a huge gesture of love that Claude can trust Lorenz with his dream.
"The Deers are for me more like an actual close group of friend: their life are not going to revolve around each other like it does with the other houses, but they won't hesitate to come for that 5 years reunion to see the other. It's kinda like you say they're so normal in a good way! I don’t know, the BE are kind of a middle ground."
I both agree and disagree with what you've said here!
I think it's true, that in any route where you don't choose Byleth, the Deer are textually viewed much more as just close friends rather then found family, whereas I think if you chose their route they end up much closer (as I said above). I think the Black Eagles and Blue Lions have their lives, by nature, revolve around each other since they're literally all Nobles and thus part of the governning system of this world (with the exception of Dorothea). I think the Golden Deer have to make it a much more deliberate choice, and I do think it's something they do after the War in any route (assuming the majority of them have been allowed to live) because that sort of thing just forms a life long bond between people that's hard to shake without deliberate effort I can't imagine any of them truly wanting to put in.
They are normal! None of them hate each other! They don't have that sort of intensity, but they do have a lot of complexity that lends itself very well to found family. I think a big part of that complexity lends itself to the lack of killing (although I don't really think any of their parents deserve to be killed whether they've alive or dead?). The fact that Lorenz's dad has Claude's uncle killed (which when combined with Hilda, again, being a fucking Goneril is INSANE my man's two best friends are people who have reason to kill him for BOTH SIDES OF HIS ANCESTRY) and thus gets Raph's parents killed is something truly heartbreaking, and yet I think it's because there's no violence amongst each other or against the previous generation that characters like Claude (has had violence perpetuated against him for his heritage), Marianne (has had implied violence perpetuated against her for her crest), and Lysithea (has had violence perpetuated against her to get her second crest) are able to feel safe amongst the Deer. Violence is an intense choice, but I think lack of violence should also be viewed as something deliberate and chosen, esp. in the world of Three Houses. I mean, throughout Verdant Wind Claude is constantly complaining about the perpetuation of violence caused by the War! He's someone who deliberately chooses direct harm reduction. Although, to in fact speak of violence, I think it's absolutely insane that Hilda "I refuse to die for my friends" Goneril will willingly die for Claude "DO NOT DIE FOR MY SAKE FLEE PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU RETREAT" von Riegan's sake.
I do think that the Golden Deer are the most similar to a modern queer friend group and thus would be the easiest to make a 1:1 comparison, but again the events of the game do kind of necessitate that they are found family because they go through a war together. Their group dynamics are probably the most influenced by Byleth (Dimitri and his relationships with others while "mad" of course, aside), and it's really hard to make generalizations about them because again, the fact that she is not there to facilitate these close bonds makes it a lot harder for them to be as close as they are before the war as they end up being, although even without Byleth I still think they're exceedingly close. But yes, I agree, they do not live in each other's pockets, which does not make them any less found family, but does, probably, make them healthier in modern context lol.
(As a side note about Byleth and the house leaders: I think what she visibly provides to Edelgard and Dimitri is a lot more obvious than what she provides to Claude. She helps the both of them in maintaining themselves and not loosing themselves to the burden of leadership and trauma. Claude, however, is a character who has been handling both of those things alone, and we are shown that he is capable of handling them alone without massive cracks appearing in Three Houses. Claude does not need Byleth to live, as the other two directly do. Byleth gives Claude someone consistent and trustworthy to rely on, which opens him up to being able to do it with the other members of his house far easier then he's able to otherwise.)
Anyways! I think the Golden Deer are very queer, just more subtextually so then the Black Eagles and Blue Lions. I personally view a lot of the straight endings, so to speak, as queerplatonic (again Lorenz/Lysithea and honestly Leonie/Ignatz). Romance is a pretty easy metric to view queer storytelling through, but I don't think I'd see Sylvain as any less of a queer character if he didn't have his paired ending with Felix because of how his story is written. In a similar way, I think characters like Ignatz (wanted to be a painter, but it's not what his family wants for him; yearns to be creative and is self conscious about people thinking it'll interfere in his duties and has to learn to accept himself and his true dreams) and Marianne (sees herself as a monster that other people won't accept if they knew the true her and what she's hiding) are also queer without needing to be in romances, which is why the fandom gets a lot out of them subtextually.
Acceptance, I think, can be viewed as a very queer theme, and I think it's a prominent one within the Deer.

As we know, Lysithea rarely fails to mention that her two crests have shortened her lifespan, and it is an understanding of mine (and many others) that Edelgard will likely suffer the same fate. Two data points does not a survey make, of course, but going off what Lysithea describes, I don't expect Edelgard to live far past 25. Almost certainly not to 30.
(I always figured this was one of her reasons for believing war was the best option actually, despite the casualties it would cause. To paraphrase a well known galactic senator, the wheels of democracy turn much too slowly.)
Is this something you've considered in your work, and how have you and/or the characters dealt with it if so?
My solution was to have her second crest surgically removed before it could take her life.
Absolutely, I do agree that Edelgard's lifespan is shortened- I'd headcanoned less so than Lysithea's, but like 30-35 max. I also do agree that that's probably one of the reasons which edged her towards a full-on war that would change things a lot more quickly than reforms she wouldn't even be able to verify would truly be applied.
This is a problem Adel and Aline also face, given they've gone through the same experiments their sister did. However, Adel's surgery (which split his crest between the two older siblings) was unstable and the effects started reversing on their own, albeit oh so slowly; for instance, his hair which was stark white in White Clouds slowly regains its light brown color during the five years of Byleth's absence. At the same time, Aline's physical forces replenish by a lot, and although it's a lot slower, her hair will eventually grow dark brown back again after the war is over (although she will always keep a few white hair due to stress).
For Edelgard and Lysithea, I had adopted the same solution as you did- surgically removing the Crest before it can take both of their lives away. Them being able to do so that fast stems from Linhardt and Hanneman's collaboration with Loki and Agarthan health professionals.
After all, it's important to remember is that Loki was raised to perform this kind of blood surgeries and experiments- which was incredibly traumatizing, but also left him with a lot of knowledge on the matter. He doesn't know what he wants to do with himself after the war; but what he does know is that he wants get justice for as much people who fell victim to TWSTID as possible, whether that means healing them (if they're still alive) or identifying the anonymous victims so their families can get closure. The tons of research he makes during and after the war to pursue that endeavor is quintessential in saving Edelgard's life.

(Ryuji) "Yo, Chie! Came just in time!"
(Chie) "Uh...what are you guys doing?"
(Yukiko) "We're building a deer scare!"
(Ryuji) "Yukiko thought it'd be pretty funny to build one right outside the Golden Deer classroom. Ya know, deer scare, Golden Deer? Eh? Eh?-"
(Chie) "Y-Yeah, I got the joke. Where did you guys even find bamboo around here?"
(Yukiko) "Anna had some in her stocks, for some reason."
(Chie) "And Byleth-sensei just allowed this?"
(Ryuji) "Iunno. We didn't ask. Besides, ain't like this thing is that big or disruptive. It's just a joke."
(Yukiko) "At first we were worried about it not raining for a while, but thankfully we recruited someone to help out with this!"
As if on cue, Aqua walked into the conversation.
(Aqua) "Okay, water party trick coming up! BEHOLD!"
Aqua flicked her wrist and a small fountain of water sprung out of a fan, pouring gently onto the top end of the bamboo.
Everyone watched as the bamboo slowly rose, then hit the rock with a gentle tap.
(Aqua) "Isn't this impressive?"
(Chie) "Impressive waste of time..."
Later...
(Claude) "So, does anyone know where that weird plant thing outside came from? It wasn't there yesterday."
Tap!
(Lysithea) "Whatever it is, it's annoying..."
A week later, it was dismantled after Yukiko, Ryuji, and Aqua were lectured for tampering with Monastery property.

@fe-oc-week day 1 - introductions !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is my best friend forever, florence von giselle !
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Birthday: 13th December
Fódlan birthday: 13th of the Ethereal Moon; Imperial Year 1161
Age: 18-19
Relatives: Mylan Von Giselle (Father)
Celeste Von Giselle (Mother)
Nationality: Adrestian Empire (Exiled)
Hometown: Dukedom of Giselle, which has since been merged with Hrym territory.
Residence: Garreg Mach Monastery
Factions: Ivory Swans
Occupations: Heir of House Giselle
Personal Ability: Ghostly Seance - Once per game + if unit is at max HP, able to revive any 1 fallen ally. [This only works if the revived unit fell during that specific battle, and the unit will also go back to being dead once the battle ends!]
Early Life:
Florence is the only child and heir to House Giselle. She’s childhood friends with Lindhardt, Bernadetta and Lysithea.
In 1167 during the Insurrection of the Seven, House Giselle along with House Hrym tried to secede from the Empire and join the Leicester Alliance. Working with the neighbouring House Ordelia, Hrym and Giselle raised an insurrection, but the Empire swiftly suppressed it. In retaliation for the uprising, Hrym’s main genetic line was eradicated. Four years later, House Giselle was found to have also colluded with Ordeila and Hyrm and were exiled from the Adrestrian Empire. Her family secretly relocated to Ordelia territory.
House Giselle is not noted as one of the seven involved in the Insurrection of the Seven as, after their exiling, all records of the House were destroyed.
Two years later, she developed an illness that took the life of her mother and left Florence bedridden for several years. While she eventually regained mobility, her legs remain very weak.
Personality:
Hating battles and loving peace and quiet, Florence does her best to avoid the harsh realities of the world, often idling about in escapist activities such as reading, composing or looking for ghosts. Her interest in seances and the occult stemming from the loss of her mother at a young age, and her desire to talk to her once more.
Despite being the heir to House Giselle, Florence has little love for her House, as it has lost all political and social standing due to their role in the Insurrection of the Seven. She often expresses guilt and remorse for her fathers actions, believing that the exiling of her House was the catalyst for all of her grievances in life. Due to her house being banished from the Empire and forced into hiding, not only was she separated from her home and her friends, but they were also unable to treat the sickness that took her mother’s life and left her bedridden for many years. In fact, in a majority of her endings, she abandons her claim to House Giselle altogether. Good for her!!
Lost Items:
A Planchette: A pointer made for a board used to contact ghosts. It probably belongs to someone who enjoys the occult.
Late Return Notice: A request letter from the library asking for a late book to be returned. It probably,y belongs to someone who frequents the library.
A Piece of Unfinished Music: An unfinished sheet of music. It probably belongs to someone who enjoys composing.
Quotes:
Choir Practice: “Hmm… I wonder if I could incorporate this melody into- Oh. My apologies, Professor.”
Cooking: “I’m quite useless at cooking, my mother always used to say I could burn an empty pan,”
Counsellor:
“Whenever I try to talk to someone about ghosts, they get scared and run away. I don’t mean to scare anyone, I just want to talk about my interests.”
“There’s a restricted section of the library that has all the interesting books locked away. How would I gain access to them without being expelled?”
“It’s my fathers fault that our House fell into ruin. I have no desire to inherit a House so wrought with disappointment and betrayal.” (war phase)
Dining Hall:

Lysithea passed back and forth in the living room of her college dorm room, biting down on her thumbnail. She wasn't one to be nervous, but for some reason she was today. If it weren't for Claude's insistence on taking her out to go run errands with him, she would be stuck in her room all day studying. The worst part about it, she knew he was up to something. She didn't know what, not yet anyways. She let out a nervous breath, finally walking over to her door. Once she opened the door, she scowled.
"Yikes," Claude gasped. "What's got you in a bad mood?"
"You do," Lysithea growled. "Whatever you are planning, I will find out."
"Oh, I don't doubt that," he chuckled. "But the plan won't be revealed until late tonight. But I do need do run a couple of errands."
"Fine, but I'm on to you," her brow furrowed deeper.
Lyisthea heard him chuckled as she walked out of her room. She followed him around campus, getting ever more annoyed with him chatting up all his friends. She only hopes that this was apart of his errands, otherwise she might lose her mind. The many ideas that he could have schemed that swirled around in his brain, drove her insane. He probably thought of a million to frustrate her. The one that annoyed her the most was that he didn't actually have a scheme and that this was just a ploy to get her outside to feel the fresh air and see the nice blue sky that was filled with the pillow white clouds.
She sharply sucked in air and exhaled as they moved from place to place. Claude decided to talk to even more friends, grab some food, check up on his study group, and a couple of other things. What was he planning? She noticed that he was boosting about the food at one of the local restaurants a lot, like he wanted her to take someone there. He was boosting about how they had some good sweets and nicely cooked meats. The more they walked around campus, the more people they talked to, the more their laughs and teases, the more she realized that he was trying to set her up with someone.
"Cllllaauuudde," Lysithea gruffly muttered out.
"Yes?" He asked with a giant smirk on his face.
"You aren't trying to get me to go out on a date with someone are you?" She asked, a scowl appearing on her face.
"Ohoho," Claude laughed. "How did you know?"
"I can tell when people are teasing me about a pointless, meaningless, stupid crush of someone I don't have feelings for," she growled, pulling at his face.
"O-Ooh!~ Youph have a crubsh?" He said as Lysithea pinched his face even harder. "I didn't know that!"
"Liar!" She yelled, releasing his face from her grip. "Where is he?"
"Over there," he said, pointing towards a bench with a tree providing a shadow.
"CLAUDE!" She yelled very loudly as she lightly hit his arms. She felt her face become bright crimson red as she turned around to face Claude. "WHY HIM!"
"Ohohohoho!~ So you do have a crush on him," he teased, fending her off.
"Oh my gosh," she quickly whispered as she glanced over her shoulder. "Why is he coming over here?"
"Probably a certain little birdie told him you like him," he chuckled.
"Claude, why would you do this to me," she whined, feeling her shoulders beginning to tense up. "I've never done anything to you."
"I know, but you need to allow yourself to relax and allow yourself to love. Which reminds me I better get going so you can have your little date! Bye!~" Claude said, rushing his words and rushing his way out of site.
"Hello, Lysithea," Cyril greeted with a giant smile.
"Ah, Cyril," Lysithea said, pretending to be shocked. "What brings you around here?"
"Did Claude not tell you?" He asked, titling his head.
"Yes," she sighed out, telling the truth. "Out of his hair brained schemes, I wish he didn't involve me."
"Oh? A shame," he said, his voice becoming more somber.
"Ah! It's not like I to be in your company!" She blurted out, trying to sort her thoughts as her face became a deeper red. She could tell he was starting to feel a little unwanted over her words. "Cyril wait!"
"What? You don't want me here so I will just leave," he sighed, still walking away.
"That's not what I meant," she said, rushing after him. She grabbed onto his arm, being able to stop him. "What I meant was, if anyone was going to ask you on a date, it was going to be me. And not Claude."
"Are you sure about that? You don't seem too excited," Cyril said, turning to face her.
"It's because Claude loves to tease me and make a fool out of me," Lysithea reassured him. "I do rather enjoy your company, but I don't want anyone else forcing me to go seek it when I can do it myself. Least of all, Claude."
Cyril let out a sigh of relief. "That's very nice to hear. Was there somewhere you wanted to go?"
"There is this restaurant that Claude mentioned," Lysithea smiled, holding Cyril's arm tenderly.
"Let me guess, he said they had some very divine sweets there," he teased, placing his free hand on hers.
"He did," she said, leading him to the building.
"Of course it would be here," he teased her, ruffling her hair.
"What do you mean, 'of course it would be here?'" She pouted.
"Claude took me here once and also has teased me about my crush towards you," he said bluntly, not realizing what he had said.
Lysithea's face burned hot at the sounds of his words; she never knew that their feelings were the same.
"He thought it would be nice to take you here because of your rampant sweet tooth..." he softly said, staring down at her beet red face. "Lysithea?"
"Ho-How can yo-you say such things so casually?" She asked, avoiding eye contact with him.
"I don't know," he nervously chuckled. "Why don't we go in then?"
"Ye-Yes, we should," she agreed, clumsily walked in.
After they sat down, and ordered their food, they sat in awkward silence. Lysithea couldn't believe that Claude did this to her, now everything just felt a little off. Whatever she wanted to say, she couldn't muster out. She could only make little tiny noises that Cyril couldn't hear or decipher. It didn't help the tension in her shoulders.
"Uh, how was your," they both said in unison, but they both quickly stopped talking.
"Oh, you go first," Lysithea insisted.
"It's alright. I don't mind you going first," Cyril smiled, placing his hand on hers. "I like hearing the sound of your voice."
Lysithea nervously laughed. Why was she acting like this? This never happens to her, she never acts like this. "No, please go first."
"I just wanted to ask you how your studies were going?" He smiled, tenderly squeezing her hand.
"Oh, it's going fine!" She chirped, placing her hands on her cheek. "I'm on course to get into more difficult classes that will help me with one of my degrees."
"That's wonderful!" He congratulated her. "What are you getting your degree in?"
"One of them is for pharmaceutical med," she replied, squeaking when her strawberry and banana french toast and crepe.
Cyril laughed a little when he saw her eyes light up, they were so beautiful to him. "Oh, that looks really good."
"You can't have any. It's all mine," Lyisthea said, swirling the fork around to tease him as he received his pancakes.
"Then, I'm not sharing my pancakes," he smirked.
She leaned her fork in closer to his mouth, feeding him the first bite of her french toast.
"Mm!~ This is good," he smiled, breaking off a part of his pancake.
She quickly took a bite of Cyril's food before he could tease her only to hear him laugh. "This is delicious!~"
"Good," he nodded, taking a bite himself. "So what did you want to ask?"
"I was just wanting to see how your job is going and if you liked it," she responded, shoveling her food into her mouth.
"It's nice, it's a job and I'm getting paid for it, I suppose," he said, laughing at all the food she was getting over her face.
"Was there something you've wanted to do other than working for the university?" She asked, wiping her face off.
"Not really. I haven't really thought about it much," he sighed out.
"If you ever need help with deciding, I am more than happy to help," she chirped.
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind," he said, eating the rest of the food.
The rest of their dinner, they continued to talk and laugh. When they were done, Cyril took her around the campus, showing her places she has never seen. The multiple gardens from parts of Fodlan she hasn't been too. Hearing Cyril talk about all the different plants, Lysithea finally feel the tension in her shoulders dissipate. When he talked, she tried to make multiple mental notes of everything he said about them. He took her around, showing her where she could get some of the best sweets on campus. She felt elated and at ease when she was around him; she hadn't felt like this in years. By the time he was done showing her around, she didn't realize she was back at her dorm room.
"Thank you for the nice night, Cyril," Lysithea smiled, getting her keys out.
"Don't worry about it," Cyril nodded, leaning down close to her.
"What are you doing?" She asked, feeling his heat close to her face.
"Nothing," he lied, kissing her cheek to get some leftover crumbs off.
"C-Cyril," she said softly, feeling his lips press against her.
"You had crumbs on your cheek," he said, stepping back.
"I-I could have gotten that off," she stuttered, tripping into her door.
"I know," he smiled, turning around and waving goodbye. "Have a nice rest of your night."
Lysithea nodded, clumsily walking back into her dorm room. She walked into her room, trying to get back into her studies. It was hard for Lysithea to concentrate because of Cyril's kiss. Maybe Claude was right, she probably should allow herself to relax a little more and to allow herself to love someone. To love Cyril.

YOTO: February
Leorenz. Established relationship/“if I kiss you, will you shut up?”
Without reluctance, Leonie follows the rest of the Deer into the town below Garreg Mach for a pint. When Claude suggests the night cap, she practically leaps at the chance, eager for the wash of barley and hops over her tongue. The perfect end to a hard day.
The day had begun with her usual early morning training, then tiresome war council that dragged and dragged until the sun dipped below the mountains and the moon took to the sky. A tense discussion on the future of Fodlan turned the discussion of how to get resources across the Empire-held Great Bridge of Myrddin to what would happen to the five great lords after the war.
The situation didn’t really effect Leonie, at least not much on the surface. Her plans had been set in stone since Jeralt visited her village all those years ago: she was going to be a mercenary and nothing would stop her. Sure, a war is a minor inconvenience, but a blessing in disguise. Fighting hard would get her noticed and get her name out there. Politics didn’t concern her, not when people were hiring her and her schedule was clear.
True, it would be a good idea to settle the future of the nobility and leadership. From the way Claude talked, he was bound to skip out again, breezing out of Fodlan just as quickly as he breezed in.
“Whatever happens, happens.” He’d said in the council room. “We can’t predict or change it. At least not right now.”
Lorenz had been quick to object. “But can we not plan?”
“What’s the use to planning?” Asked Hilda. “It’s a problem for another day.”
Marianne intoned her quiet agreement.
Lysithea had added, “Maybe not even our problem.”
Despite the dour mood left by the last Ordelia, Lorenz had persisted. “Once this war ends, we must be ready to lead or fight again. There is no way to tell which way the wind blows.” He had said. “And Goddess-forbid we lose, we must know what we face.”
Bernadetta von Varley, an Adrestian stow-away, had spoken up. “E-Edelgard plans on dis-dismantling the nobility!” She cried out. “Sh-She stripped Ferdinand’s father of his title… a-and o-o-other lords.”
“I’ve also heard that the Kingdom has no plans of doing so… At least, the nobles that rally against Dimitri do not. Very little comes from the ravaged king these days, so I hear.”
“How’d you hear that Linhardt?” Leonie found herself asking.
“I keep my ears to the sky and my eyes to the ground, Leonie.” He smiled. “People aren’t as quiet as they should be during my nap time.”
The argument had persisted through dinner, despite Claude insisting that Lorenz give it up. He had for a while, reminded that it was improper to talk politics over a meal.
But Leonie knows the fierceness in his eyes. The future Count Gloucester, ambitious, determined, resolute in his convictions.
(And she kicks herself because she’s agreed to marry him some day.)
It was early on in the war, when she had been called to Gloucester by his request to protect a village and dispatch of some monsters. He had insisted to treat her to dinner, then called upon her again and again, despite her wandering nature, despite the distance between them, despite the imminent danger.
It was there, in the quiet halls of Gloucester Hall, when the Count went to Derdriu to convene with the other great lords, that Leonie learnt how to shut him up.
Like most other young men, Lorenz was—is—accomplished academically and in hobbies. He makes the piano forte sing beautifully, and after a meal, he asked Leonie if she could play.
“No, ‘fraid not.” She stretched her arms skyward, satisfied from the meal. “My hands were more inclined stringin’ to a bow than a harp.”
Lorenz had looked down at the piano. “A pity. Music is a great pleasure of mine.”
“Sorry I can’t help you there.”
His eyes flickered to his. “And I assume you don’t sing.”
“I mean, I know a great ditty about the ways to a woman’s heart—”
He sighed exasperatedly, to Leonie’s enjoyment. “I regret asking.” He mumbled, sliding the cover over the keys.
“Oh, I’m just having fun with you Lorenz.” She’d said. “But no, I’m not a singer.”
“There goes our chances for a duet.” His hand lingered over the cover, the wood gleaming in the lantern-light.
“Well, maybe you could teach me a few keys?”
“I am afraid I lack the necessary patience to teach.”
“Good thing I’m a fast learner.” Leonie said, sitting down on the bench. She pulled up the cover, the wood banging as she turned to him, patting the seat beside her. “C’mon.”
They spent the next half hour going over keys, which Leonie—sadly born without a sense of rhythm—had struggled with.
“No, no, watch my hands.” Lorenz insisted, his evening gloves shucked away. His lacquered nails danced across the keys in the scale. “Look at how they move. Observe again.”
“You’re moving too quickly, Lorenz.” She murmured. “Slow down.”
He refused to, reminding her that she insisted she was a quick learner.
“Come now Leonie, you insisted you are a fast learner.”
Leonie had grimaced then got up.
“Just watch, once more, I’m certain you’ll get it this time.” Lorenz looked behind her, certain she was about to storm off. Leonie instead pressed her front flush against his back, her arms over his. Her rough, calloused hands rested on top of his.
She remembers thinking how soft his were. Prettily painted and moisturized. It reminded her of what girls were called back in her village—breadbasket brides. Some families were so determined to marry one of their too many daughters off to a nice noble family that they forbade them from doing hard labour in the fields or in the woods; instead they’d be pushed towards feminine accomplishments in sewing and painting. Their names would be common, but their beauty and marriage noble.
“Go on.” Leonie prompted.
Lorenz remained silent, his hands cold beneath hers.
“Lorenz? Hello?”
It took a moment, as if to process he was being touched, but he came back. And she finally got the scale, at least some sort of basic grasp of it. She also realized that if she ever needed Lorenz to stop talking, all she had to do was touch him.
(And yes, she’d gotten better at the piano during her time in Gloucester. The drawing room and it’s beautiful forte had always been made available to her. Surprisingly, practicing on the piano’s keys kept her fingers nice and nimble, perfect before sparring matches.)
The tavern owner and servers recognize them as former students and current soldiers. A few tables are pushed together in the corner of the tavern to accommodate for privacy, as requested by the more reserved members of the party.
“Oh good, the hearth is close. It makes for nice sleeping.” Linhardt says, flopping gracelessly into a chair.
Leonie’s had to sleep in some uncomfortable places and fancies herself a decent sleeper. She makes hard ground below her bedroll and stars above work, but Linhardt is either a marvel or an oddity. Leonie has caught him sleeping standing up on the battlefield a few times, prodded awake by a nervous Marianne.
He slumps against her shoulder, flopping against Raphael’s big, cuddly, built-like-a-brick-house bicep every so often.
The Deer divide. The most nobles to one side, closest to the hearth, and the commoners towards the cool window in against the wall. Bernadetta shoves herself in the corner, blocked from people’s view by Raphael. Leonie joins them, Ignatz and sleepy Linhardt and Marianne.
Lysithea, Cyril and Hilda seem bored of the conversation by now, like beating a dead horse, the point is moot. But Lorenz, ever-enthused, keeps going on. The server comes by with the first order, then another, including some pub fare for the table—okay, for Raphael—and Leonie asks for a shot of Faerghan vodka to deal with eavesdropping on her sorta-boyfriend’s conversation.
(It’s not really eavesdropping when he’s been talking about the same topic for the last five hours with little pause. And when his indoor voice is actually not indoor, just less enunciated. Damn nobles and their vocal coaches and speech lessons.)
“—There is a point, Claude.” His voice drops in volume. “If we lose this war, the Alliance will be shattered, we must have a plan if that comes to pass!
“And what’s the point. Whatever happens happens.”
“That is quite the laissez-faire attitude for a future Duke.” Lorenz admonishes. “If you ask me, we are best to remain united in the face of our enemies. You did that much during the five years of standstill. If we maintain the facade of looking united, our enemies may not trifle with us. Furthermore, if we present as if we are ready to negotiate with the victors, we stand a better chance of maintaining our borders and protecting the common folk who depend upon us.”
Leonie rolls her eyes at that one.
“—Oh you like acrylic?”
“Mhm! I-It’s what the best artists use in Adrestia.” Bernadetta says. “What do you like, Ignatz?”
“I’m more inclined to using gouache paints. It was the first type I was introduced to. There was a seller from Almyra who used to mix theirs with honey.”
“Wow, that’s very traditional.”
“—Claude, this is no laughing matter!” Lorenz admonishes sharply, calling Leonie’s attention from the great painting debate. “The Alliance hangs in—”
“The balance? Geez Lorenz, calm down, we don’t have to have everything figured out today! Here, I’ll order you another glass of wine, you obviously need it.”
“I’ll have you do no such thing! Be serious, Claude, what shall we do?”
Leonie glances back to Bernadetta and Ignatz. “Maybe you could should me your acrylics sometime? Raphael’s told me you’re an amazing artist!”
Bernadetta shoots a glare up at a blushing Raphael. He holds his hands up. “Sorry Bernie…” He murmurs as she practically stumbles into an excuse and shuts down.
An idea comes to Leonie’s mind as she takes a swill from her third pint.
“Why are you even thinking this far ahead, Lorenz?” Claude asks as the server comes back with the requested drink. “Why not come up with a plan about how to get that grain outta Bergeliez…”
“Because, Duke Riegan, if we do not know where we are heading, how are we to overcome the obstacles?” Lorenz sighs. “Lysithea? Have you a notebook handy? Claude would do well to jot these points down and construct a plan, the supposed master tactician…”
With the mention of Lysithea’s name—and Cyril who is dutifully pulling a notebook from his pocket to seriously offer to Claude—the rest of the Deer begin to pay attention.
Leonie heaves a sigh, throws back the rest of her drink. “Give me a sec guys.” Leonie says to her party mates. She drags her chair over between Lorenz and Claude, seated before the hearth.
She sits on it backwards, her arms crossed on the chair’s back. “Hey Lor?”
“Beg your pardon, Leonie.”
“Lor.” She says sharper this time.
“Leonie, I am quite busy, can it not wait?”
He tastes like sweet berry wine, the type that only comes in around her birthday in Ordelia. She got a bottle once, as a birthday gift, and it was damn good but much too sweet and expensive for her rustic tastes.
His body goes rigid in surprise as Leonie cups his chin, her rough fingertips grazing the spot where the collar of his suit jacket ends. Leonie hears a knowing giggle from Hilda, a little eep! from Marianne… Or was that Bernadetta?
The kiss is brief, and if Leonie’s being frank with herself, not one of her better ones. The angle was awkward, their teeth clacked. Lorenz was drawing a deep breath to remind Claude about the nobility’s duties towards the commonfolk, and a common woman shut him up. But what matters is that it was enough to silence him.
The table mostly silent except for a few giggles. She glances to Claude, giving him a quick wink as he laughs under his breath, shaking his head and tipping back his tankard.
The wind returns to Leonie’s lungs and she gets up. Without a second thought, she drags her chair back to her spot by Ignatz and nods to him and Bernadetta, both bug-eyed. “So, what’s the difference between acrylics, watercolours and… what was the one you use, Ig?”
“Gouache.” The two answer in unison.
“Yeah,” Leonie says, as if nothing happened. She takes a sip of her ale, washing away the taste of the wine and Lorenz. “so what’s the difference?”
Lorenz admonishes Leonie the entire way home. She buys him another glass of wine as an apology, but it is simply no use. She made a fool of him. He doesn’t know what transgression is worse: kissing her in public before all their friends, the fact that it was in a tavern, or the fact that he was about to deliver the final blow to make Claude finally pay attention to this crisis of planning.
“—honestly Leonie, it was quite rude and unbecoming.” He sighs
“Look Lor, I get it, but it’s hard to have a discussion with others when you won’t shut up about leadership.”
“I take offence to that statement.”
“The sentiment or the words?”
“All of it!” Lorenz stops before her door. Despite being annoyed with her, he wouldn’t deny her the proper behaviour of a noble, let alone a… companion.
(He’s yet to over analyze their situation yet. Though, he assumes and subsumes, that he will spend many sleepless nights worrying if he is in love with Leonie Pinelli.)
“Oh c’mon…” Leonie rolls her eyes tiredly. “Both you and Claude have a point. Why make plans now when we don’t know the outcome? But why fly blind? I’m sure you two can find a compromise.”
Lorenz sighs through his nose. “It would be helpful if Marianne, Hilda and Lysithea gave their input. They will be part of the roundtable someday soon.”
“I know you’re worried, but focus on putting one foot in front of the other.” Leonie advises. “Assemble the little pieces and pull it together.”
(He hates that she’s right.)
He opens his mouth to speak again. She catches his hand and the words fall from his mind, his mouth. Being touch-starved does things to a person, especially a nobleman in love with a village girl.
“You’ve got the biggest trap in the army.” She stands on her tip toes. Her voice lowers. Her fingers curl around his ascot. Heat floods his face. “But it’s the only one I’d kiss.”
She tastes bitter and sharp and watery. Mead, or ale. He saw her order again and again, as if trying to out drink a shadow. And he recalls her throwing down a heady tip and quipping to the server, “for your constant runs”, implying that she’d been around a lot.
(Which she had.)
Her smile is intoxicating, similar to wine. It’s oddly sweet for such a rough-and-tumble soul, the kind of girl who could unknowingly stomp on his heart and shatter it. It’s oddly innocent for a mercenary, the same girl who had arrived at Gloucester Hall with the eyes of a killer two years ago. It makes it all the more special; and given that she often doesn’t have a reason to smile, it makes it all the more special.
“You must stop that, please.” Lorenz pleads with her quietly.
Leonie laughs. His heart flies. “It’s my only weapon. I’ll use it as much as I have to.”
“What impropriety. I should be appalled at such actions.” He begins to ramble on as Leonie twists his ascot between her fingers.
“If I kiss you, will you shut up?” She asks.
He closes the space between the two of them. His hand cups her neck, his fingers in her hair. It’s deeper, softer and slower than the awkward clack that shut him up for a solid minute at the tavern, and gentler than the earnest kiss that she just gave him a moment ago.
“Come inside?” She asks breathlessly when he moves away from her.
His fingers tangle in between hers, callouses against satin. Words jumble in his throat. He follows Leonie into the darkness of her room, blindly following her quiet, delighted giggle that whispers into the night.

Leolysi enthusiasts, here's a thing for y'all It's Leonie's B-Day so... yay! An excuse to post this Leolysi I had sitting finished on my folders 💪💪💪 I love their Warrior's outfits but I hate Leonie's hair, so it's a tradeoff, their color pallettes compliment each other so well~
