Ask Smolder (and Sconce)

I am going to do an Ask Special some of you have been specifically asking for, plus one extra!

Now that I have my course schedules and have been back to school for a little bit, I can confidently say that timewise, asks are the only thing I can really promise to deliver in the short term. I don't like making empty promises.

Other projects, like A Dog's Mother, which I actually really want to continue working on, just do not agree with my schedule right now. To give you some context for that particular project: every part of A Dog's Mother that I have already posted took 1-3 months to make and that was before I was in school. I want to finish it. I will finish it, just as I finished the other projects I promised to finish, but it will take time.

Now, the Ask Special a bunch of you have been waiting for: Ask Smolder!

The time period for this one is less than a year after the coronation of Princess Twilight in Season 9. Smolder is attending the School of Friendship in Ponyville, her brother is attending the Manehattan University School of the Arts and Spike lives in Canterlot with Twilight.

I'm doing something that is a little unusual, but I am simultaneously opening questions for Sconce. The reason I am doing these at the same time is because I figure that people are going to be less excited to ask Sconce anything, so she probably won't get as many questions as Smolder. But if she does get some, it'll give me a bit of variety to work with.

For Ask Sconce, the time period is much more specific: it takes place just before A Dog's Mother, right after she received Ember's invitation to the Dragon Lands. In my headcanon, she immediately prepares to leave after receiving this invitation, but none of these Ask specials are "canon" events to my headcanon.

Same basic rules apply to both of these: no NSFW questions, no blatant or veiled fetish questions, no crossovers with other intellectual properties, no roleplay and try to ask questions that haven't been asked already (if you really like someone else's question, give it a like so I can see what's popular)

It's like we all collectively forgot as a society that friendship and just connection in general takes effort. Even if you meet someone you immediately click with, it takes hanging out about 20 times (!) to become friends. And guess what, some of those 20 meetings might be awkward or unimpressive.

We all want to reap the benefits (having a friend circle, having a partner, getting married) without doing the work (going to events, interacting with people, learning to handle conflict maturely, dating). Myself included. If I could, I'd never leave the house or go on another mediocre date again... except, that's part of the process.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the cure to the loneliness epidemic is touching some grass and building tolerance for tedious in-person interactions.

idk if anyone else felt this way, but in the Shapeshifter ep of Dungeon Meshi, it's treated like a joke that all the copies of Laios are super obviously not him, but isn't it kind of fucked up that Laios's closest companions don't seem to view him as... whole?

None of his companions had an accurate view of him as a person! One of the copies was a stupid, drooling mess! And on top of this, they all believed that because Laios struggles with social cues he wouldn't be observant to them as people. They just... fundamentally don't understand him.

I think the really accurate copies of the rest of the party was drawn from Laios's mind. His powers of observation and analytics are his strength, but that's not the same as being good with social cues.

Anyway. It made me really sad. I know his party cares about him, but it's so isolating to know your friends don't know you.
