tradwife lesbian : cottagecore terf?
LMAO yeah probably, but i wasn't able to get any clarification on what exactly a 'tradwife lesbian' is, so i can't really extrapolate. honestly it's most likely its just someone who's feminine, wants to be a homemaker and who's into cottagecore rather than actual tradwife

Success in Commonality
Tumblr media
Homophily
People naturally look for a community with common status and values. Homophily is seeking interactions with commonality (Gu et al., 2014). Social Media is a great platform that people use to find homophily. Religion, attitudes, education, beliefs, income, aspirations, and occupation can create homophily.
Marketing
Companies build their advertising using homophily. Marketing requires appealing to a target demographic (Gu et al., 2014). If a marketing team wants to bring middle-class homemakers into their customer demographic, marketers will use an advertisement with commonality to middle-class homemakers.
Social Media
Social media accounts require targeting an audience. To gain followers, there needs to be a community where people can feel belonging (Gu et al., 2014). Social Media accounts gain followers and likes based on relatability, preference, and people's aspirations. To create an excellent social media account, one has to know the target audience well. Posts need to gain the target audience's attention and have commonality.

is anyone going to tell the kat@angers that it's not feminist activism to argue Katara's arc in LOK is fine on the grounds that "some women want to be homemakers and that's okay!!"
Like you're not helping real women that way. In fact, most antis for the cannon ship ARE women. Many are homemakers themselves.
Katara is not a real woman. She is a fictional woman written by men.
Can the sensibilities and wishes of a girl change by the time she is a adult? Yes!
But as this is a textual character who, as per the text, rejects the societal structure of her fictional world (which mirrors our own) that women are and can only ever be docile homemakers (i.e. I don't want to heal, I want to fight; I will never turn my back on people who need me; let's start a prison riot; let's engage in vigilante ecoterrorism; let's pitch an absolute fit because the boys are not pulling their fair weight in the homemaking; let's confront my mother's killer at the absolute rejection and condemnation of the male figures whom I am to respect; etc) it is perfectly reasonable to argue that this end was not a natural course for her character.
Fictional characters are not real people. This means that they do not change their mind off screen. That is not an acceptable argument. That is called a "plot hole", which is a nonsensical change made at the convenience and contrivance of the writer(s), who in this case are men exhibited to not care for women or girls all that much. It is within THEIR character to write this way.
Regardless of who, if anyone, Katara ended up with, Katara tolerating disrespect, neglect, abuse of her children, giving up all of her former aspirations to live in the shadow of men, and dying as a mere footnote in history (and being alright with it!!) is not surprising given the absolute vitriol Bryke has shown toward female fans of their "creation". It was supposed to be a "boy" show. It was always supposed to be a "boy" show. The creators of Supernatural and Game of Thrones did the same thing. ATLA just did it first.
Arguing "not all women" is not activism in the face of what is really happening in this discourse. Sending death threats to real, actual women with feelings in defense of a fake pretend woman's fake pretend autonomy is performative activism, and worse, hypocritical.
Not all women agree with you. Not all women feel represented and find the outcome of Katara's story satisfactory. If y'all care about feminism and respecting women's choices so much, lay off the real life women you're so fond of harassing. Our views and opinions, while opposing your own, don't affect you.

Regarding the theory that hallmark movies are meant to reassure conservative women who stayed in their home towns and already married conservative husbands, rather than to be conservative wish fulfillment/aspirational, it's also important to note that (pre-streaming boom) the way someone would watch those movies was generally because they played on TV in the middle of the day during the work-week, aka the time were the majority of people able to watch TV are homemakers, not people with 9-5 jobs with a commute in the city. So yeah, intended target audience reached.
Yup, 100% checks out

Hello,
I am Tamer Al-Deeb, a Palestinian dentist from Gaza.
[Picture of Tamer before the war in his clinic]
Tumblr media
I have hesitated and delayed for a long time to write these words and create an account on GoFundMe, but the need has become very urgent due to what I see of death approaching myself and my family.
To begin our story, it is important to introduce my family, who are the core of my existence and the source of my strength during these turbulent times:
We are a family of four suffering for over 9 months from a brutal war that spares neither humans nor stones.
Mother: The Heart of Our Home
My mother embodies generosity and kindness as a devoted homemaker, always prioritizing her family's well-being. Her unwavering love remains our sanctuary amidst the chaos.
Father: The Pillar of Strength
My father, Majed, a dedicated professor, faced the destruction of the university he served. Despite this, his commitment to education and society remains unshaken.
Brother: A Beacon of Healing
My brother, Mohammad, a compassionate doctor, confronts the challenges of healthcare amidst dwindling supplies and occupation brutality, showcasing remarkable dedication to healing.
Tamer: A Dream Deferred
As for myself, Tamer, I was on the verge of a new beginning, with aspirations to further my career in Germany. I had saved thousands of dollars for the mandatory block account to support my stay abroad. However, the conflict has not only shattered my professional dreams but also consumed what didn't burn of my savings, compelling me to fight for my family's survival amidst the escalating costs of basic human necessities.
[Picture of the family before the war]
Tumblr media
I have lost the lives of my dearest friends, neighbors, and much of what I loved.
We have lost our home with all its dreams and memories. A five-floor house completely leveled to the ground!!
[Pictures of the destroyed house]
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I lost my clinic, my only source of livelihood.

My neighborhood .

Tumblr media
Since the beginning of the war, we were forced to flee our home in the north of the Gaza Strip to the supposed safe area in the south. But unfortunately, this was just the beginning. We have been displaced four times in the same southern area, fleeing from death always surrounding us.
Initially, we fled to a school belonging to the UNRWA in the Nuseirat camp until we were forced to move to another area, and the Maghazi camp was the intended destination. Then a UNRWA school, where we were residing in a tent inside, was targeted, killing 7 civilians. We were forced to flee again to a tent in Rafah, but the scarcity of clean water and the spread of epidemics and diseases forced us to flee again to a UNRWA school in the Deir Al-Balah area until now.
UNRWA has been providing refuge to hundreds of displaced families for the past six months at schools that have become vital community hubs, offering shelter to thousands of individuals trapped in the southern region.
Women and children sleep inside classrooms, and the men sleep outside in tents set up in the courtyard. Rainstorms recently have flooded our tents, and it's very difficult to take care of our basic needs.

I am currently volunteering at Al-Aqsa Hospital, assisting in the maxillofacial surgery department. However, a sense of helplessness and despair often overwhelms me. It's hard to put into words the horrors and injuries I witness daily. Surrounded by the shroud of death and the cries of the wounded, I feel powerless. "I want to save you, I want you to live," I often think, "I will do everything in my power to make it happen!" Sadly, many times, they become part of the countless casualties from my homeland. The shortages in food, water, and medical supplies are dire, to the extent that we sometimes perform surgeries without anesthesia. The suffering is unimaginable.
Now we hope to escape death, we hope for the end of the war, we hope to leave the Gaza Strip, and we hope to live a decent life away from bombing, occupation, and destruction.
It has been 9 months of hell and horror. This genocide has been too long to bear, and our mental health and lives are in constant danger. (I can’t describe enough what I have been dealing with daily in the hospitals for the past days. We have reached a point where there is no hope left for us here in Gaza, where we are unfortunately just waiting for our turn to die, and even if there is a ceasefire, the destruction in Gaza is beyond prompt repair
Evacuation fees are expensive, especially now that I have no source of income. Once we can evacuate, your donations will cover our travel expenses and help us get immediate support in Egypt. There will be meal expenses, wardrobe expenses, emergency expenses, etc., but no generous contribution will go to waste.
To cross the “Rafah” Gaza-Egypt Borders, you need to have your name listed in the Crossing List (paid permit), and coordinators in Egypt who have the power to add my family’s names to the list at the border are now asking for anywhere from $6-8,000 per PERSON! They will not add the names until we can prove we have the money ready.
I ask for your help because this is not just my battle alone, but a battle in which we seek your helping hand to survive and preserve our families. Any donation, big or small, will have a huge impact on the lives of my family and me. I am grateful to everyone who donates, and I will remain grateful forever for giving hope and opportunity to me and my family to survive and build a better future.
Thank you for reading my story. For sharing my story with your friends and family. I hope, there is a ceasefire, and we can get the rest and safety we deserve to build our lives all over again. ❤️

Here's your reminder not to get caught up on labels.
I just watched a YouTube video talking about being a biblical Proverbs 31 woman and wife. She was comparing it to being a 50s tradwife.
To her being a 50s tradwife is being a doormat who's not allowed to make any money herself and allows abusive behaviors. But a biblical wife sells items at the market and invests in land she bought with her own money (see Proverbs 31:10-31). She has some independence and doesn't follow whatever her husband says blindly.
I don't disagree with her definition of a biblical woman or that it's a good thing to aspire to be. What's hilarious to me, is that I've seen people on the internet talk about how it's better to be a 50s housewife than a Christian housewife. They basically swapped the definitions and said a 50s housewife is more liberal and has more freedom, while Christian wives are subjects of abuse. Other times I've seen people say tradwives and biblical wives are the same thing and only Christians are housewives.
In reality, everyone defines being a tradwife/homemaker/housewife/stay at home mom differently, and how someone is actually living their life is more important than what they call themselves. I used to say I'm not a tradwife because I had only seen the Christian housewives who don't believe women should ever work or make money use the term. My husband is Norse Pagan and we listen to heavy metal music and watch horror movies. My closet is more band tees than dresses or skirts (although this is one thing I do want to work on a bit). I don't fit the "tradwife aesthetic" so I didn't think it applied to me despite all of the practical parts being accurate. I don't work and currently don't even have a side hustle (I do plan on selling farm fresh products once we get moved). I started staying home before we even decided to have a baby and now I do the majority of the childcare. I trust my husband's opinion and let him lead and make most of the decisions for our family. We have traditional gender roles. My hobbies include all of the domestic interests you would expect from a housewife.
My point is don't get too caught up in labels and stereotypes. Don't let other people tell you how your marriage works or should be working.

hi, hope you are doing well. I noticed you are very well versed in the lore of ffvii, and I wanted to ask about Tifa, in rebirth she comment on how she always felt the need to be liked, and generally behaved in a way that pleases others. in other words internalize what she really think and feel and put on an act that suit the expectations of the other person. when she reveal that in nibelhime I thought yeah thats what we have seen from her thus far, but usually, at least in my knowledge people pleasing behavior come from low self esteem? What could have happened in child tifa’s life to cause her that supposed low self esteem? low self esteem can also manifest in perfectionism, and becoming an over achiever too, which we see highlighted in costa del sol. She was loved by her dad as far as i know? I probably don’t have all the infos here so im asking you, but also I might have completely misread her character
Societal expectations and internalised misogyny and sexism are to blame for her lack of self esteem. She grew up in a very repressed village where women go from their parents homes to their husbands and have no job besides being a wife and homemaker.
Tifa has higher aspirations and she feels pressure to repress that and conform to how the village expects her to behave. That makes her angry, which we see in ToTP when she gets letters and declarations about how she'll be saved by the boys and they'll take care of her like she isn't capable.
So part of her knows she's better than what she has, but she's been taught that's a bad thing, which makes her a bad person and a bad daughter. And that results in her modifying her behaviour to please others and keep her true thoughts and feelings to herself so people don't hate her, even though she's genuinely kind and thoughtful and there's no reason for anyone to hate her.
Tifa's psychology as a character is really interesting, grounded and relatable ❤️

On your post on female ambition, would you consider child rearing the greatest achievement a man can do?
My point is some women will want to be mothers but not all women are wired this way. Same with fathers. Some men and women want to be stay at home parents. Others don’t.
No use in shaming women who want to rise to their top of their professions, just as you wouldn’t shame a man for doing likewise.
I do believe that rearing decent and responsible children is the highest aspiration that a man can have. Both parents are to play a role in raising the children. One parent may play a more focused or consistent role than the other. And my point is that the one who does choose to play the more focused role should be highly appreciated for this rather than being labeled as "feeble-minded" (Betty Friedan) a "parasite" (Simone de Beauvoir, Robin Morgan) or as a practioner of an "illegitimate profession" (Vivian Gornick) as the founding mothers of so called Second Wave Feminism insisted. This person is choosing to specialize in the most important thing that most human beings do.
Now I have never suggested that everyone should have children. However I am concerned that as a consequence of the influence of modern Feminism, many women who might have otherwise been naturally inclined to have children are drifting in the opposite direction.
Additionally, women who might have been happy as homemakers have been shamed out of choosing that course. And so it is not a vision that these women actively cultivate when they are young. As a consequence, when they are older all they know is that they are miserable working in the world. And because they never cultivated the aspiration of being a homemaker, they probably also never cultivated the capabilities which only adds further to their confusion about their calling and purpose in life. Contrary to what many revisionists like to claim, late 20th century Feminism did not sell "choice" it sold a very specific vision to women. Homemaker did not fit that vision. Here is yet another statement about it from another one of Feminism's founding mothers
"Housework is work directly opposed to the possibility of human self-actualization." -Susan Sontag.

I find it really annoying when people assume that I am a hyper-Christian oppressed nut because I aspire to be a homemaker and homesteader, and it’s usually from the same type of people who get upset when people say Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays during December.
Wanting to be a good mother and wife, wanting to provide nutritious food for your family— these are not strictly religious aspirations. Does the Christian faith preach that these are important and righteous desires? Yes, but so do many other religions.
But no one tells the animals it is godly to rear their young and feed their families and stand by their mates. Humans are not unlike animals.
I feel it is in my nature to raise my children, to pass on as much good as I can to them, and to make sure they have all the nutrition they need to grow and skills they need to thrive. One thing I hear repeatedly from parents is “they grow up too fast” and “I don’t know who my kid is”. Why wouldn’t I take the opportunity to be with my children as much as possible?
I also feel it is in my nature to be a source of love and support for my partner when they come home from a grueling day at work. Why wouldn’t I want to make life easier for my partner by providing him the knowledge that he has a clean home, warm food, and a happy family to come home to?
So… No, I’m not a Christian or monotheist of any sort. I’m just a woman with core values that center around my dream of raising a family.
