Y'all are arguing like, "he is a genius and more important" "he scored a miracle goal."

First of all, Nagi is not the only "genius" in Blue Lock. You have Bachira, Rin, Chigiri etc. Secondly, his miracle goal is not reproducible as Ego succinctly put it in the past chapters. Chigiri is the one who is saving Manshine City from sinking into the depths of the ocean by fucking scoring in every match. He was doing assist, pressing and scoring. He's an all time rounder like Reo even if he's not the main star of their team.

Manshine City's strategy was centered on Nagi.

Compared to Chigiri, HE IS THE MAIN STRIKER. And yet the whole team needs to lend him a helping hand because he's lost and didn't have motivation. Chris Prince put his faith on him MORE THAN ONCE until he had enough and BET ON REO instead who scored a goal for their team and he is not even the main striker ffs.

here's a reference for people writing school-aged disabled characters in the US and are confused whether their character would be receiving a 504 vs IEP vs BIP:

✨ 504 documents center around accommodations only (including medical). accommodations allow the student different access to the curriculum in some way while still upholding them to the same standards of learning. for example, a student might have accommodations for 50% extra time on tests/quizzes, reference or formula sheets for math tests, sentence starters for english class, assistive technology like text to speech/speech to text, tests given in a low-stimulus location, etc.

✨ IEP documents, while they almost always do grant accommodations, also must include modifications which change the actual content of the class in some way. common examples of curriculum modifications could be a reduction in the material for classwork and homework, separate and reduced tests, a difference in expectation for output (for example, on a project, a student may be graded based on a different rubric or based on effort vs correctness), placement in a skills development/learning center/resource class, etc. IEPs may also grant services to the student like speech and OT.

✨ IEPs also may include a BIP, or a behavioral intervention plan (BIPs can technically exist independently from an IEP though that's rare). a BIP is used to provide strategies for harmful and/or destructive behaviors. BIPs are granted after a long data-collection process, so in my experience they are very individualized. examples could include the use of a 5-point scale, lots of walks to cool off when the student is feeling dysregulated or when prompted to by the teacher, breaks with preferred activities after completing x amount of nonpreferred tasks, a goal chart to track progress, a safety plan, etc.

So, in short:

Character is being held to the same standard of material but just needs changes in how the material is presented or accessed? 504

Character is behind held to a reduced or otherwise altered standard of material or requires additional support with alternate learning environments, smaller class sizes, and more staff? IEP

Character's disability is manifesting behaviorally and is causing them to engage in dangerous, harmful, or destructive behaviors (like getting into fights with students or destroying school property)? BIP

Vice-President Harris announced that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is moving to remove medical debt for people's credit score. This move will improve the credit rating of 15 million Americans. Millions of Americans struggling with debt from medical expenses can't get approved for a loan for a car, to start a small business or buy a home. The new rule will improve credit scores by an average of 20 points and lead to 22,000 additional mortgages being approved every year. This comes on top of efforts by the Biden Administration to buy up and forgive medical debt. Through money in the American Rescue Plan $7 billion dollars of medical debt will be forgiven by the end of 2026. To date state and local governments have used ARP funds to buy up and forgive the debt of 3 million Americans and counting.

The EPA, Department of Agriculture, and FDA announced a joint "National Strategy for Reducing Food Loss and Waste and Recycling Organics". The Strategy aimed to cut food waste by 50% by 2030. Currently 24% of municipal solid waste in landfills is food waste, and food waste accounts for 58% of methane emissions from landfills roughly the green house gas emissions of 60 coal-fired power plants every year. This connects to $200 million the EPA already has invested in recycling, the largest investment in recycling by the federal government in 30 years. The average American family loses $1,500 ever year in spoiled food, and the strategy through better labeling, packaging, and education hopes to save people money and reduce hunger as well as the environmental impact.

President Biden signed with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy a ten-year US-Ukraine Security Agreement. The Agreement is aimed at helping Ukraine win the war against Russia, as well as help Ukraine meet the standards it will have to be ready for EU and NATO memberships. President Biden also spearheaded efforts at the G7 meeting to secure $50 billion for Ukraine from the 7 top economic nations.

HHS announced $500 million for the development of new non-injection vaccines against Covid. The money is part of Project NextGen a $5 billion program to accelerate and streamline new Covid vaccines and treatments. The investment announced this week will support a clinical trial of 10,000 people testing a vaccine in pill form. It's also supporting two vaccines administered as nasal sprays that are in earlier stages of development. The government hopes that break throughs in non-needle based vaccines for Covid might be applied to other vaccinations thus making vaccines more widely available and more easily administered.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced $404 million in additional humanitarian assistance for Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and the region. This brings the total invested by the Biden administration in the Palestinians to $1.8 billion since taking office, over $600 million since the war started in October 2023. The money will focus on safe drinking water, health care, protection, education, shelter, and psychosocial support.

The Department of the Interior announced $142 million for drought resilience and boosting water supplies. The funding will provide about 40,000 acre-feet of annual recycled water, enough to support more than 160,000 people a year. It's funding water recycling programs in California, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada and Texas. It's also supporting 4 water desalination projects in Southern California. Desalination is proving to be an important tool used by countries with limited freshwater.

President Biden took the lead at the G7 on the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment. The PGI is a global program to connect the developing world to investment in its infrastructure from the G7 nations. So far the US has invested $40 billion into the program with a goal of $200 billion by 2027. The G7 overall plans on $600 billion by 2027. There has been heavy investment in the Lobito Corridor, an economic zone that runs from Angola, through the Democratic Republic of Congo, to Zambia, the PGI has helped connect the 3 nations by rail allowing land locked Zambia and largely landlocked DRC access Angolan ports. The PGI also is investing in a $900 million solar farm in Angola. The PGI got a $5 billion dollar investment from Microsoft aimed at expanding digital access in Kenya, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The PGI's bold vision is to connect Africa and the Indian Ocean region economically through rail and transportation link as well as boost greener economic growth in the developing world and bring developing nations on-line.

Hello! I currently work as an Assistant Narrative Designer for a tiny studio developing a live ops/free-to-play mobile visual novel. I'm learning a lot about monetization points and player retention strategies, but I'd like to eventually transition to bigger studios working in paid games (my personal interests lie in RPGs and simulators a la Stardew Valley.) Are the skills I'm learning transferrable to these fields of work? I worry I'm learning so much and yet it won't actually help me. Ty!

Player retention and monetization strategies are important knowledge to learn. If studios don't do these things well, then they'll do them badly. That's a situation where everyone loses. Most game studios don't have the option of firing and forgetting their game launches and moving on. Veilguard's developers actually wanted to do post-launch content; it was an executive decision not to do it.

Good monetization strategy will provide value to players and sustains the studio so that the games can continue. It's incredibly important for any player community that players feel that they are getting value for playing and for spending, that the things they spend their time and money on are worthwhile to them. At the same time, the studio must earn enough to keep the lights on and sustain the current game and the additional projects still in development. Keeping players around through ethical means and providing them things to buy that they feel is worth the money is important. That's the goal of retention and monetization.

The skills you're learning are absolutely transferrable to bigger budget games and I hope you are learning to construct systems that are good value propositions for players. That's the only way any of this can work sustainably.

Charlie🍎🐑 A lot more like how she was in the pilot. Still naive and gets ahead of herself but still a kind and well meaning gal who wants to help the sinners not just from exterminations but be able to heal and grow into better and happier people Def a half full glass gal who does her best to see the good with the bad wether that be her home in Hell or the people within it, especially the sinners. She often sees people like the sinners as characters within stories. Complex tales full of development. She’s had…personal experience with a sinner who showed her the ability of goodness and change and wants to repay the favor by helping the rest of the sinners who most have long give up on themselves. She’s also bit affected by her parents and their views too. Even the ones she doesn’t agree with.

That isn’t to say she doesn’t care for her fellow Hellborn & often tries to help them with the hotel, such as having the sinners do community service for Hell and try to stop the exterminations & impact it has on them(casualties, property damage, etc)

She can at times, get carried away with her best intentions snd has trouble realizing the complexities of sinners & their internal struggles She’s done legit research on humanity(morality, redemption, history, rehab etc) she’s basically a girl fresh out of college now applying what she’s learned into the real world and growing the knowledge of actual experience and learning how not everything is an easy by the book tale or script. Good thing she’s got her sinner girlfriend and friends/clients who help her see the angles she can’t.

Where as she’s more social, talkative(and sing driven) and bubbly, Vaga’s more withdrawn and akward with people….most the time unintentionally intimidating them with her intense looks and angelic spear. But nonetheless shares Charlie’s goals of wanting to help the sinners from the extermination She’s amazing at combat and strategy…socializing and hospitality not so much… She often keeps her distance from most, following Charlie’s lead, letting her do the talking and bonding, leading most thinking she hates most…truth is she hates herself. She sees the world but most of all herself in jaded glasses of past regrets she tries to hide. She comes to learn she doesn’t have to fight her demons alone, and eventually comes to terms with them…granted not by full choice but still She acts as hotel security aswell as self appointed co-assistant to Charlie where as Alastor took over as manager(mainly for better social skills and handle on things outside of just combat)

geno...is not so much doing geno things right now. he's still drawing up plays that make goals happen, because that tying goal doesn't happen without his vision and hockey IQ, but he's in a slump right now. i think i have the answer as to why!

As the season wears on, Zhenya makes a decision when it comes to the bond.

The specialists dragging them into meetings every other day, the added scrutiny in a season where they’re already being watched, is fraying Sid at the seams. He still comes to Zhenya’s house in his spare time, but he’s distracted, spending too much time on his phone and spacing out on their conversations.

Zhenya knows why. Neither of them are scoring, and the only time they’re allowed on the ice together is when Sid ignores the call for a change on the power play and stays out for the full two minutes.

The strategy they’ve been forced to adopt isn’t working. Sid’s slowly losing his mind.

So Zhenya changes tacks, all on his own.

Normally when he’s not on the ice he’s only half-paying attention, especially if his line isn’t due out for a shift for a while. He’s always done better when he has time to check out from gameplay and center himself for a few seconds. Now, though, he leans forward and watches when the first line is out, tracking Sid on the ice and watching plays develop.

And he pushes.

It’s not cheating, Zhenya’s pretty sure. Even if it is, he’d like to see someone try and prove it.

Sid was always going to rebound. He’s too good to have a down-stretch that lasts more than a few weeks. Even now, in his 20th year in the league, he has more talent in one hand than the majority of players could ever hope to have. 

If Zhenya helps out a little…well, that’s just being a good teammate.

He wasn’t quite prepared for the effect helping Sid out would have on his own play. It’s helping the team win though, or at least stay competitive in games where a few weeks ago they would have folded and gotten blown out. Zhenya can accept his own production suffering, can weather the media criticism and the whispers that he’s washed, if it helps Sid and the team.

He misses scoring real goals, though. Maybe he’ll get the balance figured out with more time; it would be nice to be able to help the top line and get a few goals of his own.

Slowly, Sid calms down. He settles into the team again, laughing with the guys and teasing the kids and getting his swagger back. Zhenya knows he made the right decision when Sid passes Mario for the franchise lead in assists, and Sid drags him into bed that night and proceeds to take him apart so thoroughly that Zhenya cried at one point.

Zhenya thinks he can go through a season like this, even if he doesn’t quite crack 20 goals, if it means he has Sid, and he has the team, and the team starts winning more.

He should have known Sid would figure it out.

He’s not sure what tipped Sid off against Florida. There was that shot on the wide-open net Zhenya missed, and there was the mess in overtime, where he almost had the game-winner and couldn’t even get off the ice.

Sid lets Zhenya linger after he changes, saying hi to his friends who drove up from Miami to watch the game, but once they’re back at the hotel, he follows Zhenya back to his room. Zhenya can feel how irritated he is.

“Before you start, let me put on pajamas,” Zhenya says as Sid shuts the door behind them, interrupting whatever Sid was about to start in with.

Sid deflates, but he nods, crossing his arms and watching as Zhenya digs in his bag for his sweatpants.

He smirks a little when he pulls his pants down and Sid’s interest spikes. He can’t be that mad, then.

“Oh, I am,” Sid answers out loud, and Zhenya sighs gustily as he tosses his suit into his bag and slouches to the bed. “G, what are you thinking? Did you really think I’d never notice that you’re…I don’t know, sacrificing yourself for my play? Did you think I’d want this?”

“No,” Zhenya snaps, rolling his eyes. “Of course I’m not think you’re want me play like shit, like, obviously. But it’s help, yes? We’re win more now, specialists leave us alone when you’re scoring, like, it’s good for team.” He stares Sid down. “I’m wrong? You can’t say, I know I’m right.”

“That doesn’t matter!” Sid explodes, pushing off from the wall and stalking towards the bed. “You’re fucking up your game to…I don’t even know what you’re doing. How the hell are you so good at playing with the bond, first there was that goal you grabbed from me a few months ago now this, and I can’t even…” He takes a deep breath. “It doesn’t matter. You can’t do this, G, you have to stop.”

“Hmm, no,” Zhenya says, smiling when Sid’s eyes practically bug out of his head. “My choice, Sid. Okay, yes, it’s not so good for my game right now, but I practice, it gets better. It’s more important for your line to be best right now.” He holds up his hand before Sid can interrupt. “No, it’s true. You’re captain, like, guys look to you the most. When you’re play best, do crazy things like perfect pass, edgework, it’s make everyone want to try harder for you. Whole team gets…lift? Not sure how to say, but you’re example. It’s not the same if it’s me.”

Sid opens his mouth, but Zhenya can feel when he accepts what Zhenya’s saying as truth. “I still don’t like it,” he mutters, turning to his own bag and tugging out his sweatpants with an unnecessary amount of force. “This wouldn’t be happening if they’d just let us do what feels right. It’s stupid.”

“Yes,” Zhenya agrees, opening his arms so Sid can crawl into his embrace. “They very stupid, we’re say this many times. Can’t change it though, they’re here, they watch. Maybe soon they’re think we adjust like they want, they leave and we do our way, see what happens. But for now, we do this.”

Sid sighs. His thoughts are too fast for Zhenya to pick anything specific out, just a general feeling of unhappiness. “I still don’t like it,” he mutters. “It’s not fair to you. I hear what they’re saying.”

Zhenya shrugs. “They always say about me, every year. What’s new? Maybe you’re give me goal next game, like, shut them up for a while. Maybe I keep not doing media so much and they’re forget if they have fun goals to talk about with you. It doesn’t matter, though. More important that team comes together, like, try hardest every night.”

“I don’t like when you’re this reasonable,” Sid says, turning his head so he can wrinkle his nose up at Zhenya. “And, hey, if you’re so self-sacrificing, why didn’t you do anything during the shootout? We could have used a win tonight.”

Zhenya shakes his head solemnly, pulling a mournful face. “Can’t help your shootout, Sid,” he says. “It’s too late, like, you’re too far gone. So boring, don’t even try, I push and push and nothing. Hey!” He squawks, trying to twist away from where Sid’s digging his fingers into Zhenya’s side.

Their play-wrestling must be loud, because Kris in the room next door bangs on their shared wall after just a few minutes, before it even had a chance to turn into something a little more fun.

Here's another thread I don't want to leave languishing at the old site. It's tough to start a career. I had good mentors and I'm grateful and want to pass it on. These are some notes I made on ways to do so.

1. Promote artists a generation younger than you. Share your platform. RT them, mention them in interviews. (This means being aware of what younger artists are doing!)

2. Hire them if you can. Pin ups, commissions, variants, fill-ins, assists, anything. A small gig can be what helps them make rent.

3. (The same applies to creators a generation older. Many of them helped develop the visual language, the audience, and the industry infrastructure we rely on. Tell your reader how these artists' choices informed your own. Help your fans see what you saw in your influences' stories.)

4. Support anthologies. They've always been a key place where new and marginalized talent can incubate, & established artists can try something new. (They certainly were for me. Many of the big leaps I made as an artist happened on anthology stories where I had freedom to experiment.)

5. Mentor new artists! Even if their subject or style is different from yours, you still have much to offer. Just be sure to frame your advice in terms of goals & principles rather than "the right way" or "the wrong way." You want to help them find their own voice, not echo yours.

6. Suggest strategies for dealing with challenging clients or collaborators. The industry may be very different from when you broke in, but those young artists are still going to face the many of the same problems you did.

7. Steer them towards someone trustworthy when they need a consultant. It's not easy to find an accountant, an agent, or a lawyer who understands what we do. Your contacts are valuable!

8. Share your understanding of industry standards for pay rates & professional practices. This doesn't mean posting your rates in public. The main that does is anchor your position when negotiating rates with a potential client. But in private, TALK. This benefits ALL your peers.

9. There will be times when you can't answer a question. It happens all the time. No one knows everything! But you probably know someone who *can* answer it. Use your network of connections and make the introduction.

10. And finally, take questions about the art, the craft, the culture, and the business on your social media. Answer them as honestly as you can.

Your support during the End of Year Fundraiser helped us avoid ending contracts with our Staff and averted the end of our platform for another six months (July 2024). We can not express our gratitude enough to you. This has been an extremely challenging and stressful time for each member of the team. We are going to work hard to keep Pillowfort online. You have motivated us to continue the fight to be a viable platform. You may have noticed that our donation bar has reset to $5,000 at the beginning of January. Generative AI Ban Policy Update

We will be implementing our updated policy regarding Generative AI in the next site update. Prior to when the policy will be implemented we will share with the community what our definition of Generative AI is and our moderation process. 

We're aware that there are concerns about how moderation systems surrounding generative AI have been abused and used for harassment on other sites: we have consulted with experts on how to avoid those issues, and the suite of moderation methods from international universities also assist with identifying harassment. Abuse of reporting systems will be taken seriously by Staff.

Updated Business Plan

The Pillowfort Premium subscription model remains our primary answer to generate the necessary funds needed to cover the costs of running our platform. We will continue to offer optional premium features which can be purchased by users a la carte. However, we will be working on completing the following major projects / updates as an expansion of our revenue strategy in the first half of 2024:

Release of the Progressive Web App w/ Push Notifications - The data is very clear that the lack of a mobile app is hindering our overall growth. A PWA will allow our mobile users to experience all the functionality of a native mobile app and will be much easier for our Developer Team to build & maintain than a native app. We also won't have to worry about App Store content restrictions.

Post Promotions & User-Submitted Advertisement Opt-Ins - Users will be able to promote their posts (as advertisements) by paying a fee. No subscription is required to promote a post. By default, this promoted content will only be displayed on a page specifically for viewing promoted content. While this will mean potentially less revenue, it is important to our philosophy to respect our user’s experience and not force advertising on everyone. However, users can opt into viewing promoted content in their home feed, and will receive a discount on premium features for doing so.

Subscription Gifting - Users will be able to purchase subscriptions that can be gifted to other users. Subscriptions can be gifted to a specific other user, or can be added to a communal pool for any unsubscribed users to take from. We will provide special badges for users who gift subscriptions.

Pillowfort Premium Price Increase - We will be adjusting prices to help us fund our overall operating costs. We will notify the community before any price increase is final.

Mobile Pillowfort Premium Frames - Add an option for mobile users to view Pillowfort Premium Avatar Frames in their feeds.

🌟 Accessibility Update: Small Demo Change 🌟

We wanted to address a valuable piece of feedback we recently received. One of our players mentioned that the spinning reincarnation whirlpool animation, combined with reading text, caused motion sickness. Your comfort is incredibly important to us, so we’ve taken steps to resolve this issue in the current demo.

For now, we’ve replaced the whirlpool animation with a static image. This change ensures no one has to worry about discomfort while playing.

In the full game, we’re planning to include an Accessibility Menu where you’ll be able to toggle animations like this on or off as needed. Since the game will be ported to Unity post-Kickstarter (we have plans for the game we're not ready to announce yet, and for them the game needs to be in Unity), we’ve chosen not to implement the toggle in the demo right now but opted for a simpler solution.

A huge thank you to the player who reached out and shared their experience. It helps us create a better game for everyone. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have additional feedback!

Maglor: Curufin, I understand your resolve, but attacking Doriath will only worsen our situation. Deaths and fratricide are not what we should aim for. There are other ways. Why not try a different approach?

Curufin: We’ve tried everything. Dior will not negotiate. We cannot allow them to continue tormenting us and our allies. We need to act decisively.

Maglor: I understand your anger, but this could lead to great bloodshed and discord. Maybe it’s better to think of an alternative strategy? For example, bribing their allies or finding a compromise.

Curufin: Negotiations? They do not listen to us, Maglor. Conversations waste time, and we need to prepare for the next strike.

Maglor: We cannot act without considering the consequences. If we win the battle but lose everything we’ve built, it will not be a victory. Think about a strategy that will bring us long-term benefits.

Curufin: Alright, what steps do you propose? How can we prepare for a more favorable outcome?

Maglor: Remember how the Silmarils were obtained? We could simply steal them. The girdle of Melian is no longer there. It’s better than openly attacking Doriath. I have a bad feeling about the attack.

Curufin: I understand your concern, but Dior is not an easy target. He is smart and cautious. If we attempt to steal the Silmarils, we need to plan every detail carefully, or we risk falling into a trap.

Maglor: Therefore, I propose we prepare thoroughly. Let’s study their defenses, find the weak points, and develop a plan. If we do everything right, we can avoid open conflict and losses.

Curufin: Alright, but how exactly should we act? What steps are needed for success?

Maglor: First, we’ll gather intelligence about Doriath and its defenses. We need to find out who is in charge of security and where the weak spots are. Then, we’ll prepare tools and resources for a stealthy entry. We can also use allies for diversionary tactics.

Curufin: That sounds reasonable. We must be very cautious and use all resources to avoid mistakes. If everything goes according to plan, we’ll achieve our goal without unnecessary casualties.

Karantir: Maglor, your plan looks promising. Amras, Amrod, and I believe this is indeed the best approach. Moreover, we could make it appear as though it is the work of Morgoth. This will divert attention and create additional pressure on Doriath.

Amras: We’ve already discussed possible methods. If we create the appearance of Morgoth’s attack, it will distract Dior’s forces and create chaos within Doriath. This will make it easier for us to approach our goal.

Amrod: I agree. We can use old tricks to forge the evidence. It will require careful preparation, but with our skill and attention to detail, we can succeed.

Maglor: I’m glad you support the idea. We need to create false evidence pointing to Morgoth and ensure that our actions look like part of his plan. This will require detailed planning and coordination.

Amrod: I will handle the preparation of fake evidence and diversionary tactics. Karantir, you’ll need to ensure everything is ready for the start of the operation.

Karantir: Agreed. I’ll handle the coordination of all resources and preparation of necessary means. We’ll act quickly and carefully to ensure the success of the plan.

Maglor: Alright, let’s begin preparations. We need to act cautiously and strategically. If everything goes according to plan, it will improve our position and reduce losses.

Karantir: I would also like to add that the Dwarves of Nogrod could become our allies. They have a long-standing grudge against Doriath, and they could provide significant assistance.

Amras: Great idea. If we enlist the Dwarves, they could provide the necessary resources and help organize the operation. Their hatred for Doriath will be useful for distraction and creating chaos.

Amrod: Agreed. The Dwarves know the mountain paths well and can assist in developing the plan. They can also supply us with necessary equipment and materials.

Maglor: If we enlist the Dwarves of Nogrod, we’ll need to discuss the terms of their participation and ensure they are willing to work with us. This will require additional negotiations and planning.

Curufin: We’ll consider their demands and interests. If they feel their involvement will bring them the long-awaited revenge, they will work resolutely. We should also discuss how we will coordinate our actions.

Karantir: I can take on the negotiations with the Dwarves. We need to offer them the benefits of our cooperation and convince them that it will bring them satisfaction and gain.

Amras: With this ally, we’ll significantly strengthen our position. We need to create a clear plan for joint actions and distribute tasks to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Amrod: I will handle the technical aspects—creating fake evidence and ensuring we have the necessary means. We’ll also ensure our actions are synchronized with the Dwarves.

Maglor: Alright, if the Dwarves agree to help, it will be a powerful addition to our plan. We’ll start with negotiations and then continue preparations, considering their involvement. We must be ready for unforeseen circumstances.
