The problem with not staying up to watch election results is that sometimes you officially learn you have a new prime minister through a notification from your audiobook app

Seeing all the shit about lore fm trying to commercialize fanfics and being super passive aggressive even when shutting down… like people have been using free realistic tts like Microsoft Edge read aloud for a while now be real

#if lore fm was released as a foss app I think nobody would have cared since there’s already apps on GitHub that already make tts from epub #but the advertising and the commercial seeming nature of it was so gross #that being said I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using a slightly more realistic voice to listen to fanfic #ao3 #lore fm #nm #most authors I’ve seen agree but some have said they only want basic tts or no tts for their fanfics which I think is ableist #but calling the app audible for ao3 killed any chance it could ever have any good faith

okay but, okay, so, when it was 1999 and the west wing season 1 ended did you all have to wait until 2000 until season 2 after the shooting fuck off. i mean yes i know this is how tv cliff hangers work. okay, like i really understand, i am old enough to understand this. and then at the end of season 4, you had to wait a whole half a year to find out of zoe was gonna die etc, etc. i know, i know, i promise i understand, but god, it would have ruined me...

having that deep urge that comes with the imminent arrival of autumn to start a new creative endeavor. not a new project, per se, but just some new way to play around and make things

I saw someone on insta talking about how they’d been insane enough about their original story on various video apps and finally got noticed and got a 3-book deal, and I don’t… think that’s common, obviously, or think that’s all that got them a book deal

but damn, if that doesn’t make me wonder if I shouldn’t start making weird spooky short videos or reels or whatever, just to see what happens.

I did sign up for an eight week horror novella course later this year with an author I’ve been following from afar forever, as what I’m framing as an Investment in My Art and not an impulsive financial decision, so, that’ll have to suffice for now

Y’know people talk about Audible having almost complete control of the audiobooks market and them having the rights to everything and I mean, I’m sure they’ve got a fucking hefty chunk

They also have exactly fucking NONE of the books I’ve wanted for the past 5 YEARS, new or old. They’re not even close to the only players in the game, they don’t even have Percy Jackson.

They didn’t get Iron Widow or Zachary Ying, or the Nine Eyes Of Lucien, like at this point it feels very personal cuz we have 2 credits for free audible books on the family account from 7 years ago because that’s how long it’s been since they got a book I fucking want

I love me other audiobook dealer (Audiobooks Now) and they do great sales very often, but also Never On The Books I Want

I am Suffering

(Obviously we have one audible account between about 20 family members we aren’t animals and no one else has found shit either)
