Avatar 3 Theory - Spider will become a member of the Metkayina clan in Avatar 3
I was looking at the character poster for Spider (seen below), and I noticed something about it.
Tumblr media
Not only was it clear from this photo that this was taken with an older Jack Champion (Spider's actor) than appeared in The Way of Water, but there are a range of other differences from the way that Spider looked in the film (seen below)
Tumblr media
These are:
He has an extra strip on his forehead in the image on the left.
He has more beads in his hair in the image on the left
He has a blue body stripe across his cheek in the image on the right, and it is no longer there in the image on the left.
He is wearing either a bone
and finally, he is wearing the body garment in the image on the left that we see Metkayina males wear (as seen in the images below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is this, along with the tattoo seen on his arm in this photo (seen below) from an article in EMPIRE Magazine of a scene that did not appear in the second movie, that I realised something...
Tumblr media
....I think that Spider either before the start of the movie or during the movie will go through the Metkayina version of Iknimaya.
Iknimaya for the Metkayina is described on the Avatar Wiki to be "...[several] coming-of-age rituals..." which include "...taming a Skimwing and various tests with the members' tulkun spirit brother/sister". It is then stated that after the individual completes the trials "...the member is considered an adult and receives a special article of clothing, their first tattoo, and three beads for their songcord (reference for the Wiki can be found at the bottom of the post).
Given that not only is Spider 16 and might be 17 by movie three, poses a tattoo, the body garment given to males that pass Iknimaya and a selection of beads through his hair, it is clear to see that, in some shape or form, Spider was able to complete the Metkayina version of Iknimaya to some capacity.
Though it would be important to mention that he wouldn't be able to complete trials a few of the trials like taming a Skimwing or gaining a Tulkun spirit brother, as he is human and thus lacks a queue to do so with.
My idea is this, either during the first act of the film or just be its event it is revealed that Spider has been trying to pass the trials of Iknimaya to not only be seen as not only one of the people but also a na'vi and possibly prove himself to others like Neytiri. Yet, due to him being human, he is unable to complete all the trials he is given and so fails in his goal, maybe this also causes further hurt to his relationship with Neytiri (idk). So, knowing that the RDA can give him an Avatar body that would allow him to not only complete the trials but also be seen as one of the family, he goes to them hoping that in exchange for information or something else, they will give him an Avatar body. Not only would this make sense for the next step in his character arc, but it also might have already been teased in the image seen below, which can be found in the same EMPIRE article as the image above. This would be his story for the third and possibly fourth movies.
Tumblr media
But anyway, what do you think? Do you think this might be accurate or not?

Does anyone else think Tsi'reya and Lo'ak might have a romance or something based just on these two clips?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems like their parents don't want them to be together, because of the argumentative look jake is giving Lo'ak, and how Lo'ak seems to unwilling to listen, his back is turned, etc.
Also it looks like Tsireya is next to Lo'ak in the full image, maybe they're being talked to about how their romance isn't allowed, like how Neytiri was meant to mate with Tsu'tey and instead mated with Jake. Tsireya is most likely supposed to be a future leader like her mother, and mate with someone from her tribe chosen for her. It would be a classic star crossed lovers thing.
You can also get the same vibe from this conversation between Tsireya and Ronal here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ronal isn't taking no for an answer based on that side glance, while Tsireya looks at her in disbelief.
ofc this is just based off the teaser and I have no idea what the plot actually is going to be about, especially since everything is super vague and there was only one line of spoken dialogue. Just based on me rewatching way too many times LOL (watch this not be true at all)

Avatar 2 Theory
Tumblr media
This image got me thinking. What if Spider is perhaps fascinated by seeing the inner workings of the avatar program here because he secretly wants to be one? The blue stripes he paints on himself speaks to how much he wants to be and look like a Na'vi and if he faces hardships and mistreatment from his fellow classmates and feels left out because he can't do the same things his siblings can, he may see becoming an avatar as the perfect solution to truly become one of them and follow in the footsteps of his adopted father.
So, what if the RDA tries to manipulate him by promising to provide him an avatar body of his own so he feels like he can truly fit into his family? I think this motivation could make sense for him and create a unique conflict not too dissimilar from Jake's story in the first film who also desperately wanted to earn his place among the Na'vi.
Tumblr media
Based on this image, we know Spider will be spending time with the RDA and it doesn't look like he's having a bad time here either and might not be a prisoner. They may show him more of his human heritage (perhaps even giving him information on his biological parents?) and try to win him to their side, maybe attempting to use him for intel on the Na'vi similar to how Jake was used in the first film. I could easily see Quaritch trying to tempt Spider with the promise of providing him what he wants just like he did to Jake and what better revenge than to try to use Jake's own family against him?
EDIT: I have just now seen others who predicted the same so just ignore this, I should have checked first lol

Just a little Avatar theory, but I was listening to The Songcord when I decidedd to read the translations. And I found a navi word that kinda resembles Tsireya's name, called Tireya which means life. I wonder if Ronal and Tonowari gave her a name that involves something of life (not sure what the s or Tsi could mean by itself. It could be like 'Sweet Life' for example.) Overall, I think its cool that Tsireya's name might have an actual meaning to it that is in the Na'vi! AGGH, so cute too. Just to think that her name might have 'life' to it as a meaning.

Avatar 3 Wishlist - item #1 : Varang and Quaritch Team up
My anticipation for these two is insane and I can’t wait to see them.
More versions of the drawing under the cut.
The feeling when you Finally finish that WIP that’s been haunting your files lol.
Some clearer images without the background and overlays. Plus a version without the body paint.

I wonder what led to this?
There's no way Quaritch will be allowed to be dressed like this unless he's one of the people. Can't wait what he will have to go through to reach that level. He has to connect to Eywa at some point to do it. That'll be very interesting to see. I wonder what role Varang plays in all this.

When you think about it bringing Neteyam back doesn’t sound crazy when you contemplate how the hell Quartich is still alive. Jake literally choked him out underwater and mind you they was down there for some time. After they finished fighting he had to have been down there for a long time without breathing. You gonna tell me his lungs didn’t collapse ???? Also, how did Spider a 14 year old boy drag a full grown Na’vi body out of the ocean in the first place. From what I remember Quartich revived like it was nothing and flew away.

Further evidence for Avatar Spider in Avatar 3....
A while ago there was this set photo that appeared alongside an article that talked about Avatar 2. Yet, despite that, as anyone who has seen the movie could tell, this scene never appeared in the movie itself.
Tumblr media
Photo from the article
This is what I am thinking, in this picture not only that the two are in a room a lot like the room where Jake first used his Avatar body. Alongside this, Norm is an outfit very similar to the attendants who helped Jake.
Tumblr media
An attendant in Avatar 1
Tumblr media
Norm in the article photo
So, this is what I'm thinking, I believe this is where Spider will wake up in his Avatar body for the first time, very similarly to Jake, and Norm (and hopefully Max) will be there to make sure things go smoothly.

Spider and the Ash People
A big thanks to @fictionramblings, this is the result of our brainstorming!
From what we already know the Ash People behave differently from what we’ve seen up until now. Apparently they have an antagonist behaviour towards the other tribes. It’s also relevant that in the comic books we are told that there’s a tribe who is known to accept outcasts and it might be them.
Ash is the symbol of death and penitence just as it’s the symbol of purification and rebirth. Aspects very fitting to a tribe that openly accepts those who were shunned by their people.
Eywa is used in many ways by the Na’vi we encountered and one is basically a moral compass. Eywa is tradition over progress, her three laws are what keep the Na’vi stuck in what by Earth’s standards would be a Palaeolithic epoch.
Actively seeking a knowledge outside of what is permitted could be one of the common factors in the shunning of these people, making them resentful towards this deity and reject her.
Taking into account the rejection of Eywa opens up a lot of possibilities.
Like for example their own coming of age ritual, they could be burning off their queues. This means that in order to use animals for transportation they would have to actually tame and domesticate them. Their rejection of the laws of Eywa permits them to advance technologically and I see them being fascinated with what the humans have to offer, or maybe see them as useful for their own agenda.
Here enters Spider, he’s human but able to communicate perfectly with them, he knows how to use human technology and most importantly he wants to be accepted by the Na’vi. Let’s say that after the Sully discover he saved Quaritch he ends up running away or gets shunned and meets with this tribe. He would have a chance to actually be part of the People as they are already accepting of outcasts and have an interest in having a Human between them for the aforementioned reasons and negotiating with the RDA. Not only that, but their burning of the queue and taming animals means he has the possibility of being the rider of the warrior mount this tribe uses. One could say that in the Ash clan he is Seen by the People. And he would be able to gain actual agency over his life. Spider could also be taking up a role as ambassador/ intermediary for negotiations.
Now if this was the case it would also make for a great reunion ground between him and Quaritch, as they would be standing basically as equals.

I’ve seen one or two people theorising that the fears in the tmagp universe are more like “the desires”, which I disagree with for a few reasons (the fact that Needles states that he feeds off fear to name one (this theory probably started before that episode so it might just be outdated)), but I remember that that theory started because either Alex or John (forgot who) said that the fears in tmagp are slightly different than in tma. After this new episode I’m starting to think that the difference might be that the fears have just shifted focus a little.
Like they still cover mostly the same topics, but maybe now The Stranger (fear of the unknown) is represented less by dolls (because of the unnerving way they look just off from human) and more by the ocean (because who knows what’s down there?)?
And maybe The Desolation (fear of pain) is represented less by fire and more by needles?
And maybe (and I’m a bit shakier on this one) The Buried is less about physical pressure and more about metaphorical pressure, like the weight of your guilt after killing someone you love?
Idk, just a theory.

A depressing revelation about Six's ending
2 months ago on the LN subreddit, I made a theory post where I say how Six may have had powers all along and didn't use them until the end, similar to Mono, and this wasn't the main focus of the post but in it I also mentioned a new way to interpret Six's ending and I compared it to a scene in Avatar: The last Airbender where Iroh teaches Zuko how to redirect lightning, the important thing being that lightning is a metaphor for abuse.
A person named Skrappo made a fandom wiki blog that goes into full detail on this new way to interpret the ending of LN1 (crediting me) and I will copy and paste it here for more people to see (I'll divide it between his blog and my comment with "---------" as a border, so to avoid people being confused between his info and mine)
-----------------------------------------------------
Credit goes to PurpleMNinja for the original idea.
In an interview, Little Nightmares' "Senior Narrative Designer" Dave Mervik said that he believes that both Six and Mono got equally bleak and hopeless endings. This has confused many fans ever since LN2's release. How could Six's fate be just as bad as Mono's? Mono is trapped forever in an infinite times-loop of betrayal, torture, and depression; while Six has become extremely powerful and has escaped the Maw, taking out anyone who stood in her path. I think I have realised why he believes this.
Tumblr media
Let's take a look at Mono's story. He is a small child who has a bag over his head to hide from the world, to try to forget that it hates him. Throughout LN2, he continues to lie to himself, pretending that the world doesn't hate him, he is constantly hiding. But when Six is taken and he is confronted by Thin Man, he has had enough. He accepts that the world he lives in hates him and accepts who he truly is, using his newfound powers to defeat Thin Man and take control of the Pale City. I think we can all agree that this is his most badass moment. But it all amounts to nothing, as he is betrayed and left to sit and rot for the rest of his life in that little room. Until he is stripped of his humanity and turned into the Signal Tower's slave.
Now let's look at Six's story. Like Mono, she is a small child who is in a world that hates her and wants her dead. Unlike Mono however, she doesn't try to pretend that it doesn't. Instead she chooses to be a survivor. Her greatest fear is death, and she will do anything to avoid it (and really, can you blame a 9-year old child for wanting to live?). However, despite living in a world that is kill or be killed, Six still tries to cling on to her childish innocence, she tries not to give in to darkness. Throughout the series, we see her doing many good things; trying to save Raincoat Girl, befriending Mono, hugging the Nomes, etc. But every time she tries to show kindness it backfires. She fails to save Raincoat Girl, she is betrayed by Mono (from her perspective), and she is forced to choose between committing cannibalism by eating a sausage or eating a little Nome like all the other ones she had befriended previously. She ultimately decided that eating the Nome was a better alternative to cannibalism (not realising that the Nome was another child). However the eating of the Nome pushed Six close to her breaking point. She has tried so hard to remain pure, to stay innocent, but every time she is given nothing but heartbreak and guilt in return. I believe that Dark Six is a representation of her inner darkness, her shadow, the animalistic sinful part of her that will do as many immoral actions as it needs (and maybe more for fun) to survive. When Six has her final hunger bout, she realises that truth. She realises that if she wants to live, she has to give in to her shadow, she has no other choice. She eats the Lady, and gives up the last bit of innocence she had left. And now, with the Lady's power, she can finally take revenge and fight back against the horrible monsters that had been treating her like an animal. She walks down the dining halls, massacres the Guests along the way, she is finally able to fight back against the world, to rise above the world. She walks up into the sunlight, finally out of the Maw... and she is met with an endless ocean. We hear a boat horn in the distance, but it is likely nothing more than the Guests' ship leaving. She has spent her whole life being ruthlessly attacked by the world around her, and now that she has finally gained the ability to fight back, it holds back... it leaves her alone. After going through living hell, being forced to do things she didn't want to, and giving up her innocence, she is met with a dead end. It has all been for nothing. She is still stranded, and all she can do is stand there, and look out into the sea, knowing that there is no way for her to escape...
This is why I think that Dave Mervik believes both endings to be equally bleak. Both characters go through so much trauma, leading up to them finally breaking and rising above the world that hates them, becoming able to fight back, and then they are both met with a dead end. In reality, Raincoat Girl and Runaway Kid had it the best. They both died and were able to escape the nightmare, but Six and Mono are forever trapped, alone and hopeless...
-----------------------------------------------------
TL;DR - I compare Six's ending to Zuko being taught how to redirect lightning because both characters have been most notoriously abused by the worlds they live in, and after much struggle they eventually are able to fight back, but their worlds leave them there with nothing to fight (Six gets a few guests, but that's it). Making them suffer so much and not grant them any sort of payoff when they're finally able to dish it back out. (I know how the rest of ATLA goes)
I slightly imagine the world wanted Six to either die, or suffer so much but be left stranded when she's able to fight back so that her struggles, sacrifices and losses don't end up with some sort of payoff or reward, making her go through so much to avoid death just to be met with a dead end when she manages to plow through it all. Either way, the cruel world wins.
If that's not a massive middle finger, I don't know what is.
And this new realisation on the ending of LN1 only adds to the tragedy of Six's story, which I've gone into full detail here.
And since I've probably made you very sad, here's some music I think is best when thinking about this interpretation of Six's ending:

Theory-kinda?: what if Spider is the reincarnation of Sylwanin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Think about it, Sylwanin loved humans and Spider is ‘navi’ at heart. Idk it’s kinda crazy ik but maybe more stuff will come out about her character and it turns out that she’s a lot like Spider, maybe Neytrir new this but it hurt too much so that could be another reason why she hated him.
