more backstory that i wrote up for patreon heh:

Simon and Tommy had a complicated relationship as brothers. 

At a young age, Simon basically wrote himself off as a lost cause, and did the best he could to make sure at least Tommy had a chance to be a functioning human being. After all, Tommy was the gentler brother, the dreamer, the one who looked like their mother (who'd walked out on them years ago to escape their father). But Tommy got bitter, got sick of the one always being protected, being babied. He lost respect for Simon, for the way he wouldn't fight back, and in a twisted way, grew closer to his father as a way to learn how to be powerful, strong. It backfired, and Tommy got wrapped up in some bad business.

Simon's kid brother died while he was deployed. He got the news in the letter, and it broke him in a big way. In the story timeline, it was years and years ago but it still hurts like hell whenever Simon thinks about him.

dizzy thinking about simon being obsessed with your swollen tummy, round and full with his baby. even if he’d only been gone for a shower, he’ll immediately stride up to you and kiss your forehead while giving your tum a rub, hoping to feel a little kick in response to his touch.

dropping to his knees, he’ll lift up your shirt to expose your skin, leaving a pattern of kisses in his wake. his brown eyes looking up at you through his lashes, your small smile that grows wider with each tickle of his lips.

“hungry, mama?” simon asks, rising back to his feet, pulling your shirt to its original position, the fabric stretching over your bump. you look so beautiful, a bright glow to your face, finally feeling more like yourself later into your pregnancy.

“always,” you nod, stomach immediately growling when you remember your craving from earlier. of course simon is an angel, going anywhere to satisfy your cravings, but you feel bad that he feels so obligated.

“what is it this time?” he can tell you’re hesitant to bring it up, nibbling on your bottom lip as you contemplate saying something else.

but you’re already salivating, eyes watering at the thought of satisfying your intense craving, imagining how good it would taste. “okay, ill tell you… but you can say no.”

his blonde brows furrow, squinting his eyes at you with a face that reads ‘are you serious rn’, as if he would ever tell you no to something he know will make your entire day.

inhaling a deep breath and preparing for rejection, you shoot your offer, “i know it’s far but, can we go to that one pizza place with the unique flavors?”

“my love,” he cups your cheeks with a quiet chuckle, “of course. now go get your jacket so we can go, it’s a bit of a drive.”

Three Little Words

Summary: You tell Simon you love him.

Characters: Simon “Ghost” Riley x gn!reader Rating: SFW Word count: 400ish

The first time you tell him that you love him wasn’t planned. It just happened.

You and him were on a walk at night together. Late nights seem to be the only time that he ever genuinely speaks his mind and even just slightly lets you in.

You came to a halt and kissed, wasn’t the first time by far, and it just slipped over your lips before you could think about it, you just can’t help yourself.

His eyes widen in shock and he freezes, you can tell that he is panicking behind his mask. You know he can’t help the way he feels about commitment and big feelings so you just kiss him again and hold him close. 

“You don't have to say it back. I don't expect you to. I just need you to know. It’s okay, I promise.”

You are afraid that you have gone too far, scared him away, but nothing between the two of you changes. He is still the same he was before, makes his stupid jokes, holds you close, kisses you like your lives depend on it.

You are terrified to bring it up again, so you just don’t. Maybe this is just the limit of your relationship and maybe that’s okay. You don’t mind. You understand why it is so hard for him to open up and to let himself feel all of those difficult emotions and you know that pressuring him won’t get you anywhere.

One day you are at his place, having spent the day with him. You are cuddled up to him, head resting on his chest. He is being extra quiet, he must think you have fallen asleep already and you are on the verge of doing so. He is just so comfortable and you feel so safe with him. 

You can tell that he is looking at you, his hands running through your hair.

His voice is quiet, but you hear him clear as day anyway.

“Love you too.”

simon who wakes up at 2am to feed and change your baby so you don't have to. he thought the rocking chair in the nursery would be completely unnecessary, but you wake up and find him fast asleep on it, burping rag on his shoulder and baby tucked into his arm.

simon who silently cheers and nearly cries when your son squeals his first 'dada'. you don't know he's been coaching him behind your back.

simon who seldom takes pictures, but has a little polaroid you insisted on taking of him and the baby. his chest puffs out a little when someone says how much his son looks like him.

simon who puts his baby on his shoulders while making his morning tea.

simon who chuckles to himself whenever he thinks about how much his life has changed, about how much love he has for his wife and his son.

yes! i wrote some "fluffy headcanons" you can see them here if you already haven't :) i will sort of reiterate some stuff from there in this.

simon will literally ask you in the most deadpan voice to cuddle, play with his hair, whatever. he gets shy asking you for affection and tries to play it off by acting tough :,) (after a few drinks though, he's not shy to ask)

his pet names for you are darling, sweetheart, my love.

once you called him "my baby" and simon nearly broke down crying, he just loves you, like, a lot.

getting him to laugh is a challenge, but hearing you laugh at one of his corny jokes, tickling him, or kissing him all over his face, may just do the trick.

simon lives by the "those you know can hurt you the most" mentality and trusts very few people, he was even reluctant to even stay with you at one point in time, but you are one of the only people he is truly himself with and trusts. he's open about his past with you (for the most part) and tries to be honest about how he is feeling.

you are really the only family he has, and he values you more than life itself. you are his rock and he knows you would never leave him, but deep down it is still his biggest fear.

simon can have a short temper at times and he'll have quick moments of anger or be super irritable at times. he keeps his distance sometimes when he's this way, as he doesn't want to upset or possibly hurt you.

he wants to buy a nice house far away from everyone in a super rural area so you and him can just be alone together.

if you ever go out together for any reason, he's always holding your hand. if you're shopping together, he'll grab what he needs to get and immediately hold your hand again.

simon hates when anyone "looks at you funny" as he calls it. he has to fight the urge to punch whoever it is in the face.

his ideal date is either takeout at home and a movie, or a hike in the mountains or in the woods.

the only thing simon will try to keep secret from you is his love of super cutesy stuff. he will listen to totally random cutesy japanese music and if you ever found out, he'd probably just leave the country tbh. (basically him.)

simon found one of your old stuffed bears while going through your shared closet. he found it absolutely adorable and would sometimes go find it just to admire it while you were gone. he very subtly suggested you put it on your dresser instead of just leaving it to sit in the closet. now it sits on your dresser and when you're around simon will grab it and give it a quick little squeeze and put it back down. (you 100% know he's doing this because "why is my bear in a totally different position than it was an hour ago?")
