Welp, I’ve made what I call ‘The Single Most Boring Submas AU Ever Conceived’:

A Unovan in New York City

An AU in which Emmet eeby deebies himself so hard that he winds up in a place so unbelievable, it’s pure fiction: our universe.

There’s not much else to it. It’s mostly Emmet’s struggles to adapt and thrive in a world where Pokémon exist as just a silly idea made by a video game company. It’s hard but he manages to keep a low profile until Akari/Dawn and Ingo are sent in to retrieve him.

Highlights include: Emmet getting a job as a NY subway driver, where he delights in pointing at the zebra boards; learning about animals so ordinary and boring he has no clue what they are; having his mind blown by little kids teaching him how the butterfly lifecycle works; vigilante train repairs; realizing he’s been blasted past the fourth wall and that looking into it will only lead to madness; meeting dogs going poorly; meeting cats going so well that Emmet winds up fostering some; Chandelure fighting crime behind his back; learning Yiddish; locals having their minds blown when meeting real live Pokémon; and Emmet learning about sports against his will.

The narrative is a bit wobbly since it’s all barely connected ideas but I thought it’d be funny to toss this out here.

today on highly specific bad au ideas that only i probably find funny: an umbrella academy au where technology is slightly farther along and viktor used to run a tumblr and write fanfiction on early 2010s ao3 before disappearing because of the events of the show happening

he comes back like six years later and starts updating again and leaves one of those perplexing notes on his fics that are like “sorry I couldn’t update!” and then proceeds to explain the fucking wildest series of events you’ve ever heard in your life. like the author went to jail or something but it’s okay because their back now and ready to update your fanfic !!

he just leaves a note on the new chapter that says something around the lines of “hey guys! sorry i didn’t update for six years, i accidentally caused like three apocalypses, should be fine now. i think. anyways here’s the new chapter” and just. doesn’t specify further. no one dares question wtf he’s talking about in the comments. their just happy their fanfic isn’t dead after six years.

Over the years Tim had lead, taught and helped countless other teens come into thier powers and said teens looked at him like he hung the stars. They admired him greatly and wanted to do something to make thier mentor/big brother figure proud.

So when they found Tims soulmate they were absolutely ecstatic.

Yeah sure, the guy was the child of evil mad scientists and apparently the heir of a creepy fake vampire supervillian but they'd seen weirder couples in the hero community. They just needed to convince him to join the heros side!

Naturally they try to kidnap Danny and he has no idea whats going on other than a bunch of kids in superhero costumes are trying to abduct him. Between his powers as Phantom, that they seem to not know about (thank the ancients that ghosts don't show up well of pictures and that he started wearing a mask) and his own parents paranoid housebuilding techniques Danny escapes them easily.

Danny figured they would leave him alone eventually, right? If not he would have to call the cops for stalking and harassment.

If that didn't work he would just set all the house lazers to stun. Worst case scenario he might have to call the Justice League emergency line and yell at them to come get thier kids.

It would also be funny if he just kicked them out as Phantom

Literacy hcs:

Time: Was not literate as a child. Learned a *little* on his first adventure, like the alphabet and sounds, but it was too late to really stick very well. Second adventure, he's... Reading, slowly. Usually sounding things out and almost never writing... or at least, not in a way that anyone else can read. Firm believer that the agenda he uses is absolutely nonsense to anyone who can actually read or uses a clock.

Twilight: Literate... in Ordonian. His Hylian is a bit too formal when written, and he's dyslexic, which is very interesting for an ambidextrous person to be, and causes some unique challenges.

Wind: I'm projecting for this one, but he knows a lot about words (linguistics, etymology, vocabulary, connotations), and he sounds super smart for his age. Most of the time. When he's tired, his brain simply shuts off and he forgets things like, say, what the word for knee is and says "leg elbow". I know fuck-all about the games he's in so I can't say for sure, but he's gotta be able to read maps and starcharts and what-have-you. I like to think he's obsessed about it and basically determined to learn all of their languages... Which means he has a decent grasp of foreign languages enough to write and speak a pidgin form at least. It's likely not something he has a lot of time for on the journey, but he picks words up quickly.

Legend: Can read and write in three languages, even if 2 of them are Hyrulean and Lorulean, which might count as one. Has a few translation guides, probably wrote a song or two or some poetry. Ledge has a really solid grasp of writing as an art. If Wind and Legend put their heads together, they could write something witty and beautiful and clever, but I think neither are the most open about this skill of theirs.

Hyrule: Completely lliterate. Knows 3 words written at best, and they're probably "shop", "inn," and "danger." Dyslexic to the point that anything more isn't something he's eager to have a headache over trying to learn, especially in a new language.

Warriors and Sky: Both openly and explicitly literate in their respective era's language(s). They're probably the only other ones to know of Wind's fixation on language, and Legend's skills.

Wild: Knows all the languages' writing scripts and can read aloud most things, but not always able to understand the words.

Gray and Graysons

One of the Bats has a secret. Something they never told to the others.

They were so very young but they have memories of a sibling, so small and tiny. They remember the burst of warmth they had in their heart when they held the tiny baby for just a moment.

But they weren’t allowed to keep them, their family couldn’t raise them. Money was tight, just enough for three but not for four, despite their shows always bringing in a crowd it was getting harder and harder for the world to be wowed by them in the new age and their sibling was too small and tiny and needed to be cared in a single place than for them to be on the road. Their lifestyle was not good for his tiny sibling apparently.

They had to watch as their parents gave his sibling away to people in suits, them promising to give his baby brother to a loving family when they find a ‘home’ for him. He watched his parents try to be strong only for his mother to break down once the car left down the road, his father holding her and apologizing, the rest of the circus troupe all silently coming over to give the heartbroken family condolences.

Richard ‘Dick’ Grayson had tears running down his face when he last saw his baby brother.

A brother he got to name before he had to be given away.

Daniel ‘Danny’ Grayson.

Dick never told the others. If anyone dug deep into his past they might find his brother’s birth records maybe, if someone got around to digitizing the paperwork for him but given the fact he was placed in the US childcare systems just a few days after his birth and the fact that Dick was still pretty young they most likely believed he didn’t remember his baby brother now. Not after so many years.

But they were wrong, Dick remembers. And he kept the secret close to his heart and memories.

And the only physical evidence he had was a single picture of him holding his brother, a smile on his tiny face towards their father who had taken the photo of them together. When he had lost his parents, lost most of the things that connected him to them, to his past in the circus that had been his whole life, had been taken from him in Gotham’s ruthless childcare system, he held on tight to the picture in secret. Hid it away from anyone trying to rip it from him, hid it from Bruce when the man took him in days later, hid it from Alfred despite how gentle the butler was towards him. He couldn’t, wouldn’t risk losing his photo at the time, he hadn’t trusted anyone and by the time he did he didn’t have the heart to reveal it.

So yes, the existence of his baby brother Danny was his most guarded and best kept secret.

So that’s why Dick, as Nightwing, nearly died from a heart attack when leaving a Justice League meeting he spotted a familiar face among one of the new engineers working in the Watchtower.

It was like seeing a young version of himself. Only, Dick could see that the young man was more than a copy of him, so much more than a clone. He held many traces of John Grayson but also had a bit more of Mary Grayson than Dick did. Small details that Dick foggely remembers taking note when he had held his baby brother.

“Hey, hurry up with that report Gray!” Shouted the head engineer from down the hall, his hand beckoning the young adult to come over.

“Coming! And boss, I told you Danny is fine!” Danny shouted back before hurriedly leaving a stunned Nightwing.
