there was something only summer could do—"if i do this right, there's nothing to worry about." in red like roses part ii, summer's part includes "i didn't have a choice, i did what i had to do."

ruby: we don't have to kill you to stop you. and we will stop you. salem: your mother said those words to me. she was wrong, too.

the goal wasn't to kill the leviathan, but to weaken it for the military to attack; and when the answer from the military was no, they're not getting support for them for their ship is flagged as hostile, ruby says fine, they'll do it alone if they have to.

summer's plan wasn't to kill salem, but to use her silver eyes to encase her in stone for what she surely hoped was for eternity; but like the leviathan, salem broke free, and summer was proven wrong.

but what interests me is that ruby asked for help from a local authority, and got a no for an answer because their ship, their mode of transportation, was flagged as hostile. it makes me wonder if summer originally brought up her plan to ozpin as a way to defeat salem once and for all, an attack they'd all play a part in, and ozpin said no. he couldn't reveal his true reasons for why he denied it, but if summer's plan always involved raven—who just so happens to have a semblance perfect for transporting people—, he could have used that as an excuse; raven had already left, they had no idea if she was loyal to them or not, she could be hostile, etc.

it's too risky.

but summer was determined, and she'd do it alone if she had to; she "didn't have a choice", after all. and the rest is history.

One of the funniest parts about the whole “Leo not giving Draxum any grace” idea is that Draxum is one of the ONLY notable older men in the show that Leo isn’t willing to give a proper second chance to OR really hear out in the first place.

A belief in Nominative Determinsim

One of the strongest points of Mass Effect, if not the strongest, is just how well written the characters are. From Shepard, to the squad, to the side characters like Anderson and Bakara, to barely-there NPCs like Ereba and Charr the lovers, Etarn Tiro the enthusiastic turian merchant, Kargesh the krogan who wanted a fish, Lia'Vael, the quarian who gets falsely accused of theft, and the Salarian who wants to buy a memento to his asari lover to remember him by once he's dead.

I feel like so many of them are memorable, and they all serve a purpose to the overall world building. The krogan show that they are not the violent thugs the galaxy has made them out to be. The salarian shows the struggle born out of building relationships with people of a species with a life expectancy so beyond your own. Lia'Vael illustrates what Tali says about the quarians being treated like second class citizens. Those small little side quests have a meaning and a purpose, it doesnt feel like they are Just There, and they add more to the lore of them game to those who care about that stuff.

King Natural Harmonia Gropius has always added this to the end of his weekly broadcast since the snow started to fall - even now, she didn’t think they sounded like his words so much as the one ruling in his shadow.

When she was younger, it was much harder not to believe those words. She’d agonize for months, years even. Even now, she’d have moments of chilling doubt. What if his words, - the very same ones the people bitterly repeat to themselves when she’d sneak into town - is the truth? For those words to be spoken from a place of authority, agreed by so many angry voices, it must be true…right?

That’s when Reshiram would gently remind her: “No. That is not who you are. That is not the Truth. That is who they need you to be for their lie to be reality.”

Lesson 3: Hold onto the truth & who you are. Always. No matter whose voice speaks over you.

Well, we had another snowstorm, so I got the day off (unlike poor Ikrit - his job is wild for being open). Perfect setting for drawing stuff for this AU. On another note, I’m happy to have found some connection to DxP REWRITE, even if it’s an alternate timeline for it. 🌨️

dude. my life fucking rules. feathered velociraptor shleich figurine for $2 at the op shop. captain of one of my favourite ferries complimented my shirt TWICE (and we are now introduced!). new friend waved me over to sit next to her in a lecture. found a way to make my pony collection even more enjoyable. sky was so beautiful it was a crazy pale blue and there were cirrus clouds catching the sun. the ocean looked like molten green glass. I'm going swimming in the sea and having lunch with a few friends in a weeks time. I've earned 500 dollars this week just from my art which is a milestone I didn't expect to hit without joining a company. I'm not feeling as fatigued as usual. it rained in the morning which was really lovely. I thought I was going to be super late for uni but I made it right on time. I'm kind of in love with the world today

I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.
