The user can see spirits in the form of who they were before whatever killed them took their life. They can give the spirits a temporary physical form by touching them, and they look similar to how they were when alive but semi-transparent and blue (like ghosts in Genshin basically). General stuff

Suppressants are cheap but doctors prefer not to prescribe them because long-term use can damage the body, particularly the reproductive system. There’s also various easy to easily cover your scent, like scent patches (chokers, collars, some ties...) or scent blockers (usually in the form of pills);

There isn’t an actual hierarchy with secondary genders, but it’s a theme that’s been explored in dystopian novels;

There’s this thing called “parenting” where a parent/chosen parental figure scents their kid to protect them from danger.

Some people pretend to be βs by using suppressants, scent blockers, etc;

People generally present between the ages of 14 to 16, it’s called presentation and it lasts like a normal heat/rut;

There’s special medical leaves for the various cycles required by the law.

Alphas

ruts usually follow a cycle (two or three times a year) but can also be triggered by an excess of ω pheromones (rare occasion) and they last from two to three days;

Betas

Luke Brandon Field and his involvement with Vampires

It's an interesting title, isn't it? But let's go to the curiosities. The first movie where Luke had a leading role was 'Where the Road Meets the Sun' in 2011 and there is this interview where Luke says he will make an adaptation of the book 'The Highgate Vampire' (Asa Bailey), the movie would be "released together" with the book in 2012, but I didn't find concrete information about it.

Going back to the research, there is a text from 2011 on the Models 1 website where they also talk about this adaptation and even say that "maybe it's the birth of a new Edward Cullen"…. Oh…

There are two more texts where it is talked about the adaptation, but again without any further information. One is from a 2011 newspaper and the other is from a June 2012 article.

New OC Introductions

The time has come for me to make two Descendants masterlists so expect the second one in a bit but here are the reasons there's more plus a whole new fandom to add to my list

Descendants

Zinnia Hook (Alexandra Shipp FC), Ben or Evie or Uma or some poly combo with the three ship. Daughter of Captain Hook, she always knew there was a difference between her and her siblings. Everyone knew it. But no one would question the girl whose father has a hook for a hand and brother who is the right hand to one of the most feared teens on the Isle. Then she finds her father's old Captain's Log, from long before the Isle, before Peter Pan, and she found the truth. Her mother was a fairy, Zarina, and now she was determined to get off of the Isle and find more information. Luckily, she gets the chance when Prince Ben declares that four Isle kids are being sent to Auradon Prep, she'll just decide to make it five

Serafina Stabbington Chapman (Piper Curda FC), Mal or Jay or maybe an OC ship. Born on the Isle of the Lost, Serafina was the only one that got out young. Of course, this was due to her father not wanting a girl and once he had a chance, him and his brother pushed the young girl onto the barge ship that brings supplies. Scared and hiding, she made her way to Auradon and was already coming to terms with having to find a way to live on her own but instead, she met Merida. Merida who saw the young girl already ready to fight for what she needed and decided that maybe motherhood wouldn't be the worst thing. So Serafina shed the Stabbington name and became the heir to the DunBroch clan overnight. She assimilates well enough, but when Ben decides to bring other Isle kids over, she gets to face the past that pushed her away.

White Collar (because rewatching it has made me very much want some ocs and fics)

Valentine Clarke (Jonathan Bailey FC), Neal Caffrey ship. There were numerous big names in the forgery and heist world, Valentine wasn't one of them. Of course, he only wasn't one because he was excellent at what he did. Valentine Clarke wasn't anyone, he was a ghost. The only name that semi-consistently followed any of his work was just known as Heartbreaker. Other than there were all sorts of names, Edgar Usher, Frank Bridgerton, Bram Carroway, nothing about him ever the same. Except for Neal Caffrey. The two had never officially met, by chance crossing paths at a hotel bar or a museum was it, but they did communicate through their crimes for a time. It wasn't a competition necessarily, but it wasn't exactly a friendship either. And then, nothing. Neal Caffrey was arrested and Valentine went on with his life, albeit missing the fun flirting with him through heists and forgeries. But a case leads Peter and Neal right to Valentine's door.

Marcel Carver (Ben Barnes FC), Neal Caffrey ship. FBI wasn't exactly Marcel's plan, let alone the White Collar unit, but after his career as a young art dealer was cut short due to him unintentionally selling a forgery to a client, he thought it would be better to catch the ones doing the forgeries than be tricked by them. Which proved to be a good career switch, as he was excelling as an agent. And then the impossible happens, Peter Burke gets Neal Caffrey out to help them with cases. Which means Marcel comes face to face with the man who made the very forgery that he sold.

it's so crazy because in many ways. i do think this is almost a better situation than when they were in-laws via *****. like, ultimately, it would have been great to come together under difference circumstances than babies having a baby, but i think they are a similar kind of cool, rolling with the punches parents that there were never any hard feelings about what was going on between the kids. and they both adore bram so like the options or get together or put him in the middle of the beef. i think shawn and camryn have maybe shared some tense words because they can both go a little overboard defending their kids, but overall they get along pretty well. shawn thinks austin is a cool guy (had a bad childhood.), aubrie and camryn are both worldly woman who i think could have shared interest in Fineries to chat about. like if they could just hang out crack a bottle of wine and play charades together i think they'd have a good night. like god. they're actually really cute couples friends. even after cora and bailey break up i think they celebrate like some big holidays as one big group because they all get along and don't want to fuss with having to decide which side of the family gets what. now whether cora agrees to that arrangement is another situation. but i think shawn and camryn/austin aren't the problem.

cora is a mama not a mom or mommy so jot that down. cosleeper for sure.... we love a little bit of controversy.... i don't know how to articulate this exactly but i picture her the type to like. struggle more than she has to on purpose. like to prove a point or whatever. like no part of me believes austin and camryn were like hm. knocked up. time to leave. she chose to live independently and raise bram. they'd be one million percent willing to take him for overnights or whatever so she could have fun but she'd almost never independently ask and the times when she'd take them up on offers were kind of few and far between. i imagine it could have turned sierra and company and even bailey off a little bit where its like girl just ask your mom and she's like no but is still woe is me about it. piggybacking off that i think she'd be weird about aubrie and shawn wanting to have the baby too like this kid hit the grandparent lottery but his mom is choosing to be a squirrely little bitch about it. i just picture her like being her cross-legged on the living room floor with like some social-emotional learning youtube on the tv, going along with those activities with baby bram, finger painting, living room dance parties, bottle-feeding him to sleep on the couch while he twirls her hair in his fingers. like an involved and loving but very insular and labor-intensive existence, entirely self-imposed because it really didn't have to be that way

So i just saw (and reblogged a post) about reading widely. I think thats such a great thing to keep in mind. Reading is such a great way to broaden your horizons and learn and i wanted to share some of my favourites from all genres. Im tagging booktok because i read and loved ACOTAR and started my reading journey with the 2010 special (hunger games, percy jackson, and that vibe)

Science Fiction

The Martian by Andy Weir - the story of a man left alone on Mars. Weir has an exceptional talent to make very scientifically heavy topics very accessible. This book is also hilarious

Jurassic Park by Micheal Crichton - another one where the book expands and explores the world much further

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan - if you love the movie you will love the book

The break by Katherena Vermette - the story of a Metis family working to recover after a young girl in their family is violently assaulted (expect related triggers)

Think like a Freak by Levitt and Dubner - a very interesting look into economics and how it affects our lives (my favourite chapter was about the Japanese hot dog eating champion)

Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage - a modern cowboy romance with a focus on mental health and recovery from a traumatic incident

The Troop by Nick Cutter - a terrifying story of a boy scout troop that while camping on an isolated island has to deal with a mysterious ill man showing up on the island

Fantasticland Mike Bockoven - what would happen if lord of the flies took place at Disneyland

Young Adult Fiction

Sadie by Courtney Summers- probably my favourite book - the story is told through a podcast host looking into the disappearance of a girl Sadie- as well as through the perspective of Sadie on her journey looking for the man who killed her sister (triggers for CSA)

The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky- this one is a classic for a reason, the characters are wonderful and its beautifully written (trigger warning for SA and CSA discussions)

Crank by Ellen Hopkins - a story of a young girl who gets addicted to drugs. Really great for teens to understand what that world actually looks like

The outsiders by S.E. Hinton - the story of a 14 year old boy in a gang.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson - the story of a young girl who had to recover from a sexual assault (again trigger for sexual assault discussions)

Memoirs

Night by Elie Wiesel - Elie recollects his time in concentration camps during WWII. Harrowing but powerful read

Educated by Tara Westover - Tara recalls her childhood where her parents refuse to have her go to school (triggers for child abuse)

The disaster artist by Greg Sestero - a look behind the movie “the room” this book is hilarious but also a very interesting look into how Hollywood operates
