I wrote a silly little ramble for an au version of that one nutcracker au @ninjam117 expanded on in this post where Yamima and tkb get to lay hands on Atem before he could zap Malik away XD
I wrote this in a franzy, and I did not bother to clean it up, so it's not perfect, but at least I wrote something that I actually posted for once in awhile lol
Four Can Fit
"Mouserkin," Malik murmured, testing the odd name on his tongue as he kicked his feet over the armrest of the makeshift lilac throne Ryou gifted him.
"Bakura Mouserkin. That's your name?" He echoed back with a bewildered expression, casting a suspicious glance at the decrowned rat loitering behind his well cushioned chair.
"Yep," came the unceremonious response from above him in the same lethargic tone Malik has gotten used to from the rat- or, well, Bakura, he supposed.
"That makes no sense. You're a rat, why would you be called 'Mouserkin' of all things?"
An amused snort left Bakura's lips at Malik's very justifiable question, beryl-like eyes blinking open from behind the iridescent palmette. The ex-king lowered his arms down to the splat of the throne, hoisting himself over the very top in a way that his entire body weight was supported by the spacious back of the throne with his feet dangling beneath him. As intimidating rats could be, Malik found that despite their bravado, they were still quite small with the tendency to be adorably silly, even in this dream-like world.
"I'll have you know that I've had many squirrel siblings, and they were all called Mouserkin as well," Bakura announced with a self-assured leer as he hung suspended above Malik, an occasional swish of his hairless tail hinting at some kind of mischief in the making.
Malik could only blink at the oddly positioned man breaching his personal space in frustrated confusion.
"How is that even possible...?" He grunted, trying to logic his way through a feasible explanation of how a rat could have squirrel siblings, keeping the possibility of Bakura just outright lying to him for shits and giggles headfirst in his thought process.
"Y'see- when a mommy mouse is feeling especially promiscuous one night-"
"Eww- no! I don't want to hear that!" Malik shrieked, swiping at Bakura for even daring to make him think of such a revolting thought, incredibly missing the cocksure rat by a margin, causing said dethroned rodent to burst out in an uncontrollable cackle fit.
Malik glared at the manically giggling rat, internally cursing whichever fairy made him miss. Definitely Atem.
Luckily for Bakura, before Malik could unleash his full fury on him, a faint noise was heard from across the double door leading into Malik's audience room. Bakura's flat ears wiggled at the familiar sound, instantly cluing Malik in on the lovely source of the sound. The grand marble door's right wing slightly cracked open, revealing the reinstated Prince's kind face and ethereal eyes that always made Malik's heart skip a beat.
Bakura immediately pulled himself up from his previous position into a sitting one on top of the palmette, his ears fully stood up from the sight of Ryou's appearance alone. Malik couldn't blame him. Ryou tended to have that kind of effect on people when he walked into a room since his curse was broken. Though he could faintly recall the ex-Rat King looking at Ryou the same way when he saw him still as a Nutcracker and that ugly bat's influence was fully burst.
"Hi," Ryou whispered silently, slipping into the room quiet as a mouse, the heavy door falling mutely shut behind him.
"Hi," the rat murmured back with an almost shy giddiness and a small wave, which was fondly regarded by the Prince.
"Why are we whispering?" Malik grinned, speaking at the same volume as Ryou gracefully strode up to the pastel throne.
"I'm hiding," Ryou confessed with a guilty smile. "It turns out succession is quite exhausting. Room for one more?"
Malik's feet moved before he could will them to, readily making room for Ryou next to himself on the throne without the thought even fully entering his mind. Ryou gratefully beamed at him, making himself comfortable next to Malik on the soft cushioning.
"Thanks," he sighed, leaning into Malik's side, letting weariness take over him, and his limbs go lax.
"Which part about being a literal pince is exhausting exactly?" He asked teasingly as the Prince lay his heavy head on his shoulder, comfortably curling into him even more. Malik could feel the scarlet piercing gaze aimed at the two of them from above, but he decided to ignore it as it didn't feel malicous.
Ryou sighed, "All of it, I suppose? I have so many things to do now... The duties, the lessons... it is quite a lot to get reacquainted with. As a vagrant I definitely didn't have to deal with this much nonsense."
"You're literally the only one in line for the throne. Can't you just not do things you don't want to? It's not like anyone could do anything about it," Malik offered as he weaved his fingers into Ryou's long silky hair. Even its texture felt different from when Ryou was still the Nutcracker...
"As nice as that would be, I still need to fulfil my duties. If I am going to be crowned King soon, I need to be in the know-how about my kingdom and my responsibilities," Ryou explained, though he did not seem all too enthusiastic about it as he sunk deeper against Malik.
"Pff- I didn't do any of that when I overthrew your father," Bakura piped up for the first time since Ryou took a seat next to Malik, still sitting above them. "I just made the mice deal with that kind of busywork." Why he phrased it like something to be proud of was unclear, but in some superficial way, Malik found himself agreeing inwardly.
Ryou's nose scrunched up at the rat's words as he shifted his head to look up at him.
"That's exactly why I need to do this. Because you and your mice ruled the kingdom into the ground."
Bakura visibly flinched at Ryou's words, withdrawing from the conversation by letting his upper body drop down behind the throne, his legs keeping him anchored to the crest rail. His tail completely stilled, perhaps out of guilt, perhaps out of disgruntledness. The rat was more often than not hard to read.
It took Ryou a good couple of seconds to register what he had just said and its true weight. Penitent, the Prince's head sprung up from Malik's shoulder to seek Bakura out.
"I'm sorry, that cane out wrong... I'm just very tired, I didn't-"
"No, no, I did do all that," Bakura firmly cut him off before Ryou could finish, his voice small, almost quivering as he protested Ryou's tact in the matter.
Ryou apologetically sighed, reaching a hand up to gently grip the tip of Bakura's boots.
"Bakura... I didn't mean it like that... It wasn't all your fault. Zorc took advantage of you, you couldn't have-"
"But it was."
Malik couldn't help but feel incredibly awkward right then and there in that situation. The whole conquest and conquering subject was an incredibly touchy subject for both the Prince and the ex-Rat King, and Malik often witnessed them tiptoeing around the topic in conversation. Since he was never directly involved with the incident, it never really did feel appropriate to involve himself in these discussions. But on the other hand, the pain in Ryou's and Bakura's voices always affected him, made his heart ache. He really wanted them to just move past it, but he understood that it wasn't that simple, there was more nuance to it than a simple 'sorry' and 'I forgive you'.
Malik's inner musings were suddenly stalled by a determined huff from Ryou, seemingly all his tiredness leaving his crystalline eyes for the moment as his grip tightened on Bakura's boot.
"Listen to me, Bakura," Ryou started, determination ringing clear in his voice. "I know what you did. But I also know why you did it. I know it was very difficult for you with my father around... Malik told me about what he wanted to do with you."
If it was possible to grow stiffer beyond the level of tension already freezing Bakura's body, then it happened.
"You... know about the execution?" The rat almost rigidly croaked out from behind the throne.
"Sorry," Malik sheepishly whispered, feeling a little burdened for not keeping Bakura's secret.
"I... I know there wasn't anything either of us could have done", Ryou continued. "You we're ambushed, and my father and his soldiers never gave you a fighting chance! It was cruel and unjust, and you only did what you had to for survival's sake. Your heart is not fundamentally evil, and I know you would have never accepted Zorc's deal if it weren't for the dire situation.
"I know that if our roles had been reversed, I would have made very similar if not the same sacrifices and choices you made." The Prince solemnly spoke, his free hand coiling around Malik's for support.
"They were very bad choices," Bakura admitted, his tail anxiously shifting behind his frozen feet.
"At least you can admit they were bad," Malik grumbled under his breath.
"Malik's right. If you can admit they were bad choices, that's already one step towards betterment," the Prince affirmed, his clasp on the rat's feet tightening again.
Bakura stayed silent for a moment, maybe what they said helped a little, but knowing how stubborn he was, Malik had a feeling the discussion wasn't over yet.
As if on cue, Bakura spoke up again.
"But I don't regret them. I don't regret any of the choices I made," the rat growled, pulling his boot away from Ryou's hold and sitting up again, his distraught eyes betraying the anger in his tone.
"I don't regret killing your father," he snarled with furrowed brows.
"I don't think anyone would regret that," Ryou chimed in.
Seeing his point wasn't getting across, Bakura continued.
"I don't regret taking over your castle, I don't regret chasing away the faries, I don't regret taking all seven of your crowns-"
"They do look better on you," Ryou shrugged with a serene smile on his lips.
"I don't regret stealing Master Ginger's rod, I don't regret fighting with him, I don't regret going into the other world, and I don't regret stealing Malik!" He inished with a heaving chest, his face red from hardly breathing throughout his tirade.
A few moments of deafening silence ruled the room as Bakura waited with baited breath for the condemning words to come. But they never did. Instead, Malik's laugh rang across the bright room, which was soon joined by Ryou's chiming one.
"Bakura-" Malik managed to choke out between giggles before he could calm down and finish his sentence. "I don't think anyone here regrets you shrinking me, least of all me!"
"You really should have picked a better example to finish with..." The Prince chuckled in unison at Bakura's flustered expression.
Grumbling, Bakura could only hide his red face in his palms, claws digging into his ratty mane in frustration.
"I hate how little you two hate me for the things I've done..."
"We love you too," Ryou smiled, bidding at Bakura with an inviting finger. "Now stop excluding yourself and join us. This throne is big enough for three," he winked.
"But-"
"We can talk about the other things later, but I don't have the energy for that conversation right now," the Prince promised, leaving no more room for argument.
Peaking out from his hands, the rat tentatively stared at the two of them for some time, like a skittish rodent. It took Malik to provocatively poke his tongue out in a childish manner, for Bakura to finally hop down on to their lap, knocking the air out from both of the men sitting on the throne, but neither of them complained as Bakura flumped down on Ryou's lap extending his feet and tail onto Malik's thighs.
They sat like that in comfortable silence, forgetting all their troubles for the time being.
"Do you think we could make room for a fourth person on this throne?" Ryou mused with a giddy smile. "I invited Chuncho for the afternoon, but I don't really want to get up..."
"He's too tall. We'd have to make him our communal pillow for that to work." The outlander deduced, comfortably placing his arms over the defeated tyrant's legs. "I don't think he'd mind if Ryou asked."
"I could wrestle him down on to the throne for you if he refuses Ryou's princely orders." The rat confidently declared, seemingly over his episode now that he was with the two of them.
"He'd probably enjoy that," Ryou chuckled, contenly settling down next to his favourite people on the throne.

More head disciple era doodles because i love these idiots
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(EDIT i just noticed the mistake there was supposed to be "shimei" instead of "shijie" mannn whatever im not fixing that bye)
theyre so stupid and so fun. anyway more of my headcanons under cut if you wish to see
these are just my headcanons im not saying this is the correct way to see them just me having fun ok lets go (this is mainly MQF cuz duh yeah who would have guessed hgjfk)
MQF usually doesnt insert himself into the inter-peak messes and dramas, but does enjoy the fact that people tend to come to him to rant about the latest nonsense so he does get the latest gossip without a need to personally get dragged into trouble
Just the same, he is also not one to start tomfoolery (too busy for that and somewhat responsible, rip to him) but he does actually feel touched when the others think of him and ask him to be included in their tomfoolery. thats why he usually folds and accepts to take part despite his better judgement
dont be fooled MQF is also stupid silly kid just a different flavour that looks dignified on the surface but will not think twice before testing his newest antidote experiments on himself
if anyone is familiar with my fics then you know i love giving MQF a bad habit of gambling, inspired by the donghuas hilarious decision to use his model in that one scene just for the sake of it (originally rando in the book). absolutely brilliant. QQQ enables him in this most of the time and loves to take his money because she is the reigning betting champion
speaking about being inspired by donghua, one MQF background scene where he is posed on his sword is meant to look like a battle stance, but to me he mostly looks like hes trying not to fall hgjkf, thus spawning hc that he does not enjoy flying too much (on his own)
QQQ and LQG light-heartedly fight both with words and fists over the stupidest things. its enrichment
WQW's has a brand of humour that is sometimes hard for people to get and understand that he is actually joking, especially for people that dont usually interact with him. It is easier to clock for his closer circle though. (inspired by the extras)
this also continues as WQW grows more into adulthood, because he gains somewhat of a severe resting face, despite his jovial nature around his friends. He looks intimidating and grows to be more restrained and exasperated at nonsense that takes his time for no reason, but still keeps his mischievous spirit
damn i had more notes written but i misplaced them somewhere so this is it ok bye

Filling this out for Bellamy cause why not
1. Describe your OC physically- what do they look like? What notable features do they have, or what’s your favorite part of their design?
Bellamy is a bit on the taller side, and she looks sort of lanky. They have brown wavy hair and greyish blue eyes. Bellamy has a notable mole on her left cheek under her eye and two on the right side of her neck. Very flat lol.
2. What role would your OC fill in a friend group?
The judgemental/peer pressure/'I can be the only one who's mean to my friends' friend
3. What is their stance on religion? Are they a devout believer, against the idea of gods, or somewhere in between? Do they make their practice or their opinions public, or keep it private?
Bellamy is Jewish because of her mother's heritage. They're not too serious about everyday worship, but she does take some traditions and holidays seriously, and she visits the temple with her family. They don't usually talk about their religion in public, but it's not exactly a secret, so she will talk about it if asked. Makes a big deal about not being able to eat not kosher foods.
4. How do they act when they’re sick, and does it change depending on who they’re around or how sick they are?
Bellamy refuses to get out of bed if she feels sick. Except if she has very important plans made prior to getting sick, and even then, she'll act mostly miserable and only respond in curt replies.
5. What’s one hill your OC will die on (anything from a guiding moral position to a strong opinion about combining mint and chocolate)?
Gabriel Agreste and Audrey Bourgeois are singlehandedly destroying the fashion industry.
6. How did you choose your OC’s name?
I chose this originally because I wanted their name to start with a 'B', but it eventually became more relevant because a "beautiful friend" is what Bellamy is very deep deep deep down inside. If you manage to get her to ease up around you a little, she will eventually become your very opinionated ride or die who sometimes pressures you into stuff you need to do to better yourself. In her opinion. So yeah, a friend till the very end :)
7. Lots of people don’t have a favorite food when put on the spot, but what’s a food or drink that your OC would never turn down if someone offered it to them?
Chocolate brioche, her grandfather always used to make her some. It was the one recipe he could do without messing up.
8. What’s something that your OC owns that means the world to them? What’s something they own that they don’t like, but can’t bring themself to part with?
An old iron scissor their grandfather left them, it was the one he first used in his tailoing career. He also left her with a preserved Hand of Glory that she feels a little weird about having.
9. How do they fare in cold or hot climates, and which do they prefer?
She fares better in cold climates and is usually one of the first people to abandon winter coats. She will start melting and complaining the moment it reaches above 26° though.
10. Share a sentence of dialogue from your OC that you think represents them well.
"I'm not saying that pink is a childish colour, but maybe you should have picked a more sombre colour to wear for an event of this magnitude???"
11. How are they seen by people around them - family, close friends, colleagues, or strangers?
Most of her family respects her, but some express envy and dissatisfaction behind her back for being selected as their grandfather's protégé and primary heir. Close friends know that she can be a handful, but they also know how to deal with her and her tact. Colleges either respect her abilities or think that she's impossibly rude and spoiled and needs her ego knocked down a couple of notches, and the same would probably go for strangers as well.
12. What does their bed and/or desk look like? Tidy or cluttered - are they both the same, or is one neat and the other messy?
Bellamy likes order, but she has a very specific kind of controlled chaos order that most people would not expect from her. Since she's so uptight, one would assume her room is meticulous, but it's not exactly it. Her bed is made, but not very neatly, but her desk looks to be in a constant state of bomb attacks. Loose notes, trinkets, sewing tools, pieces of fabric, notebooks, a laptop that deserves better treatment, and so on. She always knows where everything is, but someone unfamiliar with her desk probably wouldn't.
13. How do they deal with pain (physical or emotional)?
Physical pain is very rare for Bellamy, so she usually freaks out if she gets a cut or some other kind of injury. Emotional pain, she tries to burry as deep as she can and ignore it for as long as possible.
14. How comfortable are they relying on other people, and what situations would change their comfort level?
Bellamy despises relying on others and would rather throw herself off a bridge than work in a team by choice. She doesn't trust others and automatically assumes the worst about everyone. Her comfort level would probably change in a near death scenario, maybe, and if she works together with a very close friend.
15. How does your OC take up space? What do they do with their hands when they talk, or how do they sit in chairs?
Bellamy is very well versed in physical etiquette, so she always knows what to do with herself in most situations. She usually sits with her legs crossed and only takes up as much space as necessary. She always has a very straight back in public, no matter what she does, and keeps her hand behind her back around superios. People she believes to be less competent than her usually get a lot of crossed arms and dismissive waves with her hand when she's talking, though.
16. Point assign D&D ability scores to your OC (STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA; out of 27).
STR: 2 DEX: 5 CON: 1 INT: 8 WIS: 4 CHA: 7
17. What are three moments in their life that impacted your OC the most?
1. The death of her grandfather, 2. Her father leaving, 3. Winning her first junior fashion design competition
18. If they can or would drive, what would their car be like?
Bellamy is canonically a Kawasaki Ninja 400 driver, but if she drove a car, it'd probably be a Mazda or a Citroën.
19. How do they connect with the people around them? Love language, how they offer comfort, etc.
Bellamy's love language is mostly acts of service and gift giving. She's not really good at talking about her feelings and getting vulnerable in front of others. She's more sympathy than empathy.
20. What kind of clothing do they feel most comfortable in? What kind of clothing do they wear most often?
Bellamy prefers monochrome clothing on the darker side. Most of the stuff she wears is either self-made or from brands she likes and knows are manufactured using good quality materials. They prefer pants over skirts, but they don't mind skirts either. Her style is heavily influenced by traditional qualities, slightly modernised to fit a more y2k aesthetic.

What is your opinion of Minsoo and Lili characters?
They both seem neutral, but Minsoo gave Yona information during the xing War, and Lili took Yona's side in the same war.
Suwon is completely alone.
Hi Anon, thanks for the ask!
I don't see Lili and Minsu as "neutral" and I don't think it really works to take it this way to be honest. They're not neutral and don't pretend to be, they definitely have stakes and their own personal reasons to act the way they do with both Yona and Suwon. Rather, I think it's more that they don't feel that their loyalty to one of them is exclusive and cancels out their respect/loyalty for the other? You could say it's the case for most characters today, but yeah I guess they can be paired to say they had this stance before the official Yona-Suwon alliance and the developments that followed that made it just easier and like the "right" thing to do to support both of them. Like, Lili and Minsu were doing it when it had actual negative consequences to Suwon's reign (Lili hinting at the truth of the coup to soldiers, Minsu helping Yona with the Taejun strategy, and then in the castle arc calling Yona when Keishuk was about to get Hak executed etc). I think it shows their resistance of blind loyalty and following orders to instead follow their own free will when they're against something, on top of their affection/respect for Yona.
Also both characters' feelings towards Suwon and Yona are pretty different since Minsu was more directly involved and impacted by Suwon's coup. Like, Minsu has personal resentments towards Suwon and Keishuk for using him to kill and hurt the King and Princess he was happy and content serving, and then making him serve Suwon which made him feel intense guilt. He was also wounded and is now disabled from that night. Minsu appreciated Suwon and Keishuk honestly and they were childhood friends (that one panel of Minsu laughing with Keishuk lives rent free in my head like what on Earth were they talking about...), so he's very much a victim of a betrayal from people he trusted too. By the Xing arc Minsu doesn't really seem content serving Suwon because of all these reasons and it's more like he's forced into it. However once he meets with Yona again and makes him feel forgiven (I never really enjoyed that chaptersince I don't think he had to be "forgiven" by Yona for anything, but I get what it meant to him), I think he was free of the feeling it's a terrible sin to serve Suwon and started using that very position to help Yona.
Tumblr media
So, yeah, if you had to choose one "side" Minsu is on, he's probably more on Il and Yona's side. After all, Il is a lord he "chose" to serve, whereas Suwon was pretty much imposed to him when he least wanted it. Minsu's role by that point was to be a character serving Suwon that actually feels more for Yona and help her "against Suwon". However does that make him strictly Yona's follower? I don't think so either. After all the one he is serving right now is very much still Suwon and he doesn't resist against it or give up everything to join Yona instead. Maybe it's because he contractually can't because of the illness, but personally I don't really feel like that's the only reason. To me it feels more like Minsu has accepted his position as Suwon's physician and is content with it despite his conflicted feelings.
Minsu's "neutrality" stems from the pretty unique fact that he is really familiar with both Suwon's and Yona's past background. Hak only knew the Yona/Il part. Keishuk only knew the Suwon/Yuhon part (Judo also witnesses a bit of both but is in another different position). Minsu knows the environment Suwon grew up in, knows about the Crimson Illness, was here when Yuhon and Yonhi died and felt for them, and then became Il's physician and witnessed the environment Yona lived in and Il's death and felt for them as well. In a way, that makes it that today he's probably one of the character who has seen the most of Suwon's life. He knows both the dynamic of Suwon and Yuhon's faction and the dynamic Suwon had with Yona and Hak.
Tumblr media
He is also the first character that knew about Suwon's illness and to whom Suwon showed himself physically more vulnerable. He's the one servant that sees the most of Suwon's vulnerability in general I'd say. Like when he questions Suwon about his actions hurting Yona again in Xing, or witnessing everything happening between main trio in the castle arc and later. This unique history makes him aware of Suwon's own circumstances and unable to completely reject and blame him for everything either. Like he says in Xing, part of him believes that Suwon as a King probably can't advance embracing kindness, but he can't really swallow the idea of others and particularly Yona suffering from the consequences either since he also believed in Il's peaceful ideology.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've felt very neutral about Minsu for a long time if not a bit annoyed by him because "one more character siding more with Yona than Suwon" etc etc... But I have to admit that the more it goes the more I am endeared by his relationship with Suwon. Maybe he can never forgive him or Keishuk as he said before, but in practice he interacts with them on a daily basis and work together very functionally? There is no conflict, they just...cooperate normally, even if there can be tension. Like you could criticize akayona for the pattern of every character ending up warming up to Yona eventually but lowkey I think it's often the same for Suwon.
Many characters aren't immune to him either and can't help but understand where he comes from and try to sympathize. Maybe it started as just a job and a duty to Minsu, but to me it looks like he seriously got into it, no? I don't think he simply hates Suwon. Similarly to Yona (even if probably much less intense) it feels more nuanced than that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Minsu is also very serious and determined about his job and finding a cure to the Crimson Illness. Maybe it's also partly for Meinyan and Yona's sake like it is for Yun, maybe it's for his pride as a physician, maybe it's because Suwon dying would be a hindrance, but he always runs to Suwon when he''s in need of his expertise, even when Suwon doesn't ask. He seems genuinely concerned about the evolution of Suwon's illness, and he is moved to see Yona and Hak connect with Suwon again. I don't think someone that doesn't care in the slightest and would be against someone would do all that.
When Suwon doesn't believe there's any merit in looking for solutions for his illness, Minsu is the one person insisting to look into the senjusou and exploring all leads without being asked by anyone else. He's the one that asked Keishuk to deploy Hak for it too. Minsu acting on his own accord is first shown in his initiative to help Yona in the Xing and Castle arc, but I'd argue that it also very much shows with Suwon too. And it's a pretty neat thing if he's so dedicated even if only for his own convictions as a physician. That makes him trustable and it shows that any personal grudges he might have doesn't change anything about that. He is loyal to Suwon as his personal physician and it gives Suwon the justice of deserving medical treatment no matter what.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I've seen people read this part as Minsu being angry at Keishuk, but to me it was always more like Minsu just feels kind of complicated and conflicted about the situation? Minsu was also "close" to Keishuk before, so he must understands how much it means for Keishuk to say something like that and to let Hak go look for the senjusou. Like it just feels more ambiguous than straight up being mad at him...it conveys the seriousness of the situation AND Minsu's mixed feelings about these developments imo. But I admit that may just be my wishful thinking. Like I don't get what on earth Minsu potentially being pissed off at Keishuk would even add and bring to the story here)
I think he can care in this mysterious third secret way precisely because he was friends with Suwon and Keishuk in the past and was fond of Yona and Hak. He inherently has a sense of familiarity with all of them. The fact he respected Il and Yona and was hurt personally by what happened to them also makes it that he sees Suwon differently and allows himself to make comments to him that the other people serving Suwon wouldn't make. Like, that makes him correctly call out Suwon when he's being a bit hmm oblivious? too pessimistic and negative? about Yona and Hak for example, which reveals Suwon's innocence and vulnerability when it comes to them. Such is possible only because Minsu is the only person around Suwon aware of main trio's history and who knows both Suwon and Yona well. Minsu saw how Yona and Suwon used to interact before so he knows perfectly well what makes Suwon feel awkward and unsure sometimes, like, you could say Minsu knows about Suwon's embarassing past or something lol, which is only "embarassing" in the context of Suwon being King and acting like everything before with Yona and Hak was all fake when he visibly cared very much for them.
So even if it's because he's disillusioned about Suwon and that he's feeling for Yona, I don't think it's a bad thing that Suwon has someone with this stance by his side. Minsu can see well through the armor of Suwon as this sound reasonable and pragmatic King, and also see him as a person that happens to be awkward and clumsy when it comes to his relationships with others especially Yona and Hak, without using it against him or pushing him to conceal it even more. In these little moments he treats Suwon like a normal person more than like a King or his lord. And the fact he's moved by main trio connecting and working together to me shows that he is deep down rooting for the three of them to reunite and not be against each other on "different sides".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't mean Minsu likes and cares for Suwon super super deeply or anything, he was also always more distant from him than Yona and Hak or Keishuk, but there are things he only can see and point out thanks to this distance too imo. So, in what way is Minsu leaving Suwon alone? I would say he barely leaves him alone at all tbh. What does it mean exactly to take someone's side? Minsu might have grudges against Suwon and feel conflicted about his actions and he might even sometimes act "against" him through Yona, but to me it's again part of the misconception that everything has to be a dichotomy between "Suwon's side" and "Yona's side" even if that was a misconception shared in universe by many characters as well. Never has Minsu acted personally against Suwon and try to hurt him as far as I can remember. Helping Yona in Xing wasn't to harm Suwon in any way, it was because he wanted to help Yona not lose her family again. Calling Yona in chapter 201 wasn't against Suwon either, it was because he didn't want Hak to be killed. And even after what Suwon did and tried to do it didn't stop Minsu from treating Suwon the same as his physician in any way.
As long as he helps Suwon and shows concern for him, I'm fine with Minsu having complicated feelings for him and personally prefering Yona as a person or whatever. Like does it really matter when the facts are that he is genuinely concerned about Suwon's health and will never betray his duty to him as a physician? When in the present he argues all the time against Suwon pushing himself too hard and believes in his survival against all odds and Suwon's own beliefs? It's kinda endearing to me too that both Suwon and Keishuk have this guy with them calling them out sometimes but never to their detriment nor making it as dramatic as it is with Yona or Hak. It feels a bit like teasing and something that can only be because they've known each other forever. I also like when Minsu argues a bit with Suwon and Keishuk about not pushing Suwon too hard etc...He's a bit like a needed reasonable force as a physician sometimes, and they allow it and never punish him for any of his oppositions. Maybe that's because they can't afford to get rid of Minsu, but the tension stemming for that is pretty lovely to me...i love their strange coworker bond so much.

Is Minsu that deep? Maybe not, but he's deep enough to simply have complicated and ambiguous feelings towards Suwon and I don't mind that. Him siding with Yona sometimes doesn't erase his efforts to help Suwon, which I can't help but appreciate as a Suwon fan. Is what Suwon need only loyalty, or also people that are simply fair and honest with him?
Like, truly no offense anon but the statement "Suwon is completely alone" is just so sad? :') Even if Suwon is more emotionally closed off from the people around him, he is not alone, and I feel like this just validates Suwon's own insecurities to be honest. I obviously know what you mean when you say "alone", like, yeah he has no one fully supporting and prioritizing him above all else all the time, right? But I don't think it means he's alone at all either.
He was kept alive so far by so many characters around him who, no matter their reasons, desperatly and often risked their life to protect him or follow his orders. He has Hyuri that would do everything for him, he has Judo and Keishuk who even under the prestance of doing it for Kouka's sake also do everything to protect Suwon in every possible ways, even at the cost of their own pride, he has the generals respecting him, he has the people of Kuuto that want to protect Kuuto so their "cute little Won won't cry", he has Yona and Hak that don't leave him alone when he needs help, he has Minsu nursing him, and he has Lili. A friend who despite loving and admiring Yona deeply and criticizing Suwon if he were to harm her, doesn't end their relationship here and comes by to chat with him casually a few chapters later like it doesn't affect their relationship, a friend who wants to protect Kuuto in his absence and runs after him in a collapsing castle. All these little things by all these characters aren't meaningless, Suwon is surrounded by many many people that can't help but care for him! No matter what these characters also do for Yona will never change and erase what they do for Suwon.

Like, when it comes to Lili, the very fact she hangs out with Suwon despite knowing what he did to Yona and feeling bad about it is precisely what makes it so meaningful. Lili is different from Minsu in that she is not familiar with Suwon and Yona's pasts. She had no personal stakes in Suwon murdering Il and doesn't really disagree with the act itself, she only knows Suwon and Yona from their present. She met both of them without knowing their identity either and so got to become more familiar with them completely unbiased about the situation and their relationship. But that doesn't make Lili fully neutral. She cares for both Yona and Suwon simply for who they are as the two people that saved and inspired her, so even if she feels "neutral" about the coup itself and their past, she isn't neutral about them in the present basically.
So of course she is against Yona being captured and killed by Kouka's army and would take her defense. But again it doesn't mean she does it in Suwon's detriment at all either. She says explicitely that she doesn't want to believe it would undermine Suwon's position. She simply didn't want Suwon to kill her. Siding with Yona doesnt mean wanting to hurt Suwon at all. It doesn't change her relationship to Suwon at all actually, this is the wonderful thing about their friendship! It's the reason why she feels hypocritical too, but that's what for example differentiate her from Hak who can't help but have his relationship with Suwon heavily impacted by Suwon and Yona's conflict.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suwon and Lili's ability to interact casually and like nothing happened even after Lili defending Yona from him in chapter 141, or after them not seeing each other for ages in chapter 261 is the kind of relationship that is extremely good for Suwon! Like, Lili isn't so affected by Suwon not contacting her at all for a while, Lili isn't so affected by the idea Suwon might be annoyed by her actions in the Xing arc, she isn't so affected by the idea Suwon invites her only because it serves him practically etc. Maybe she's a bit harsh in her assumptions that Suwon doesn't care at all sometimes, but this sense of distance coming from this disillusion about him is what permits her to enter so casually Suwon's personal space. She's running straight ahead and often recklessly in dangerous territories, but that frankness is a strength that made her break through some of Suwon's walls as well. So many people in Suwon's life care so so much about anything he says and does one way or another, that someone like Lili that interacts with Suwon not because she expects him to give her anything but just because she wants to is extremely refreshing and moving.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I think about Lili is that she's one of my favorite thing in the manga and her presence in a chapter has the power to make 100000x happier. She is so important and I love her position between Yona and Suwon. She is so cool and funny. She just feels so fresh. I don't think Lili cares about "Yona's side" or "Suwon's side" so much deep down even if she questions herself about it. She just does whatever she wants to do. She wants to be close friends with Yona and she wants to hang out with Suwon. Maybe that's "incompatible" like she said, but she does it anyways and in the end it...works? Maybe this assumption that such thing such as siding with both at the same time is impossible was never true to begin with and we just needed someone to try it out even before Yona and Suwon's alliance made it pratically more compatible, no? It's similar to the Xing conflict to me in a way. Suwon and Kouren didn't believe avoiding war and an agreement between their two countries was possible, yet Yona made them try anyways and it wasn't perfect or without any sacrifices and grudges but... it worked! They just had to try and surprisingly they even can get along personality-wise.
Tumblr media
If you turn it around, does Minsu serving and trying to cure Suwon means he's against Yona and doesn't care about how Suwon hurt her and killed Il? Does Lili hanging out with him casually despite what he did to Yona means that Lili is "against" Yona? Does Yona and Hak defending Suwon mean that they forgot about Il or how he hurt them? Does Hak helping Suwon mean he's against Yona and doesn't care about her? Does Yona not wanting Suwon to die mean she forgives him for killing Il? Of course not, right? These things are not incompatible. The characters can be against and disagree with others for some things, and side with them for others things and still love each other (more or less)...I don't think it's much more deeper than this in the end.
Does Suwon need everyone to agree with him all the time and to follow his every order, or someone that will interact with him like a normal person and an equal? If you ask me, I think he needs both in the context of the story. I sometimes even feel that I wish there was some kind of character just being a Suwon fanatic in universe a bit like Mizari with Kouren for example, things like that... That Suwon had characters for him like Meinyan has Kaji etc... Characters like Hyuri Keishuk and Judo who are loyal to him, or Ogi and the people of Kuuto that love him overtly and will do everything for him are just as important. But he needs not only that but all different kinds of relationships! He needs a Minsu and a Lili and a Hak and a Yona too. As long as all these people will be here Suwon will never be alone. They're here already, even if he struggles to realize just how much he is cared for and admired and trusted. In the end, I think it's just so fitting of him to have all these kind of unconventional and unique relationships. Just believe in his boundless charm Anon <3
