I generally keep my writing on transmisogyny separate from this blog, but given that I’ve now seen the same Mutuals banned four our five times I think it’d be a good time to explain how this is a feature of transmisogynistic social murder itself. After everything has died down, after the ones leading the whisper network or the mob have satisfied themselves in causing enough damage to your life to feel you’ve learned your place, you begin to rebuild. You find new social circles, you recover what you can from old ones without risking exposure to the ones who participates in your own social murder, if you even now which. You try to create a new space for yourself, cultivate new support networks after the old ones were torched and cut ties with you, and you live in fear that it will all burn away again if anyone who participated in your social murder finds you. The unique thing on Tumblr is that while a lot of sites will passively enable social murder, Tumblr’s gone over the deep end. It’s common enough on most sites that auto moderation can be flooded with false reports (or even true reports that wouldn’t have happened without organized groups in places like Kiwi Farm), but on Tumblr you don’t get to know what it was or challenge it. The only cases I’ve seen of successfully challenging mass report campaigns and returning to original blogs took months, and only in the case of some of the most popular TME blogs.

In real life you fear meeting these people again because you know that they learned that social murder works, and now they’ve got experience. Here, every time tumblr refuses to step in or has their CEO harass outspoken victims, the same people perpetrating the abuse of shitty auto moderation learn that it works and is allowed because they won’t do anything, not only that but Tumblr moderation will go out of its way to scrub clean complaints of this and perpetually enforce the social murders that they allowed. Social Murder is a cyclical process meant to cultivate fear, despair, and obedience in the victim, and once it’s happened once you are marked as a target. What Tumblr has done is formalize that targeting and the fear that accompanies it by repeatedly banning the same people for being victims of social murder.

I keep seeing posts about how tumblr staff is deleting Palestinian blogs, and while there is definitely reason to believe some of that could be intentional, my only interactions with those blogs have been receiving copy-paste asks formatted exactly like every scam email I've ever received.

If Palestinians are indiscriminately messaging blogs on here (a website that already has a huge bot problem!) with stuff that 100% looks like spam, that means they are probably getting reported by people who think they're scam bots multiple times a day and staff is seeing "this user's asks have been flagged as spam 50+ times" and nerfing them without a second thought.

I absolutely think these people deserve help, but someone needs to come up with a better format than "‼️DONT SCROLL AWAY. $5000 NEEDED‼️" because my internet denizen brain sees that and activates a report-and-block reflex so honed it takes genuine effort to take a step back and not do that.

If anyone reading this is a Palestinian looking for aid (or friends with someone who is), I would recommend workshopping more genuine-sounding messages that the average user won't block on sight because I guarantee it's hindering whatever support you could be getting and could get your account banned.

I get the point in sending these anons is to celebrate that but honestly I found that shit user through the radfem tags when tgirl has only stopped being censored this year. With criticism of staff still leaving blogs nuked and trans women existing also getting nuked.

Like, it shows that moderation does exist and some staff members can try, but honestly, the blog could have just been deleted too.

But yeah I just don't know how to respond to these. I would give a list of ones that haven't been, but staff took terfrecords so I can't really do that. I guess if you scroll down quite a bit you'll find more terfs, but I try not to interact with them as often as I used to for plenty of reasons.

One that bothers me specifically is where they go "this is a friend of mine irl" and posted a trans persons face and tiktok username before purposefully misgendering him. Specifically because the terf goes on in the tags of "I know this is a joke but I think (he) would actually do it" and I sit there like... of course the second a trans man is Black then he's a threat and not simply annoying or a victim.

I’m scared for the kids who might unknowingly buy the Harry Potter game or the books or the movies without knowing what’s going on. We need to ACTUALLY ban this franchise. Burn copies in stores. Smash your friend’s computer if you have to. I don’t know why we’re simply telling people to “read other books” and not going full scorched earth. in light of the avery/predestrogen situation, are there any good tumblr alternatives? all i can think of off the top of my head are bluesky (albeit it having its issues and being closer to twitter in format) and cohost (which is similar to tumblr in layout but doesn't have a very huge userbase).
