Hmm. Thinking about Edwin and Learned Helplessness

To rapidly summarize a complex psychological concept (and skipping over some nuance we’ve discovered recently), Learned Helplessness is basically when an animal internalizes the idea that they have no way to escape/control an unpleasant stimulus or situation, and stops trying to do so.

The classic example is with an electrified floor and two rats. The floor shocks the rats periodically. One of the rats has a way to escape or end the shock: by jumping over a barrier, pushing a lever, etc. The other does not. The rat that has a way to escape will keep trying to do so, even if it doesn’t always work. However, the rat that reliably has no way to avoid the shocks will stop trying. They’ll eventually stop looking for ways to get away and just lie down and let it happen.

And here’s the key part: the rat that gives up will stay given up even if you later present them with a clear way to escape. Once a rat has accepted that there’s no way to avoid the shocks, you can give them a lever, let them jump over a barrier, or just straight up open the cage, and they’ll just keep lying there.

Experiments have shown it’s possible to retrain animals who have acquired learned helplessness to believe they have control, but it requires active work from an external source. Something like physically lifting them out of the cage repeatedly to show them that they can leave and that leaving stops the shocks. If you leave them alone, the rats will keep just sitting there getting shocked right next to an open door forever.

So where does this rather depressing and fairly unethical concept relate to Edwin, you ask

Well - remarkably enough, Edwin doesn’t seem to have fully 100% acquired what one might call generalized learned helplessness. He keeps trying to escape, eventually succeeding after 73 years. But! There are two sources of nuance here

One: he clearly does canonically experience some form of learned helplessness, because that’s exactly what he expresses to Charles when huddled against the wall in Hell. There’s no use trying, I run and it catches me, over and over, you should leave without me because there is no point in me trying to escape. That’s learned helplessness in a nutshell.

How he was able to get past that to escape in 1989, I’m not sure, but it seems to fluctuate for him from moment to moment. (He has it badly in that scene, but the previous scene, when he first sees Charles before getting eaten, he seems to have hope).

Two, and this is less canonical and more me spinning off canon-compliant thoughts, he might have a more specific learned helplessness response going on, as opposed to just a generalized one. Because running, trying to escape, can delay the pain. But fighting? Fighting does nothing but make things worse.

We talk a lot about him freezing, but I’m imagining him, in the first while after Hell, when a threat gets too close, just… going limp. Because he’s had 73 years of continuous torture conditioning him that running may help delay being caught but once he’s caught, there’s nothing he can do. Flailing around just gets him more pain, gets a slower death instead of a quick one. Relaxing his muscles makes it hurt less when they’re torn off his bones. He’s just loosening into the fall, is all.

Charles figures this out pretty quickly. It’s hard to miss your partner just… flopping down on the ground every time he’s about to get injured.

He starts finding ways to accommodate it. First by keeping an eye out and jumping in whenever Edwin goes into Accept Death Mode, but then trying to pre-empt it. Keeping Edwin back, at the edge of the fight, so Edwin never gets close enough to the threat for his learned instincts to kick in, which over time turns into a fixed dynamic of “Charles as brawn”, and over more time Edwin picks up offensive magic so he can stay at the back but still fight.

Charles realizes at some point that Edwin won’t fight for himself but will, occasionally, fight for Charles, and starts trying to leverage that, putting himself in danger to make Edwin start fighting so Edwin will learn he can fight. Edwin puts a very harsh stop to that, once he figures out it’s happening, but it remains true, that Edwin will fight for Charles but not himself. (We see him try to throw a punch at Esther after Esther tosses Charles, in canon, but not, at any Post-Hell point that I can recall, when anyone tries to hurt him.)

Edwin stops collapsing, eventually, after a lot of work from him and Charles, starts just freezing instead, and to other people that freezing would be Bad but it’s a step up, for Edwin. Eventually he starts even being able to still move a bit, and talk - like when he puts a hand over Crystal’s mouth and mutters an explanation to her before freezing, with the Misery Wraith, and… and when he just stands there and keeps talking when the Cat King rocks up to him and puts him in a binding spell. He still doesn’t try to stop the threat, doesn’t fight or even run, once it’s already close, but he doesn’t become completely incapacitated, either.

And that’s about where he’s at, by 2024. Charles is still trying to work on him, but they’re still at a point where Edwin physically can not defend himself from a nearby threat: hence the failed boxing lesson. Charles wants him to be able to physically fight, and he may even want that himself, but he can’t, can only throw a punch to protect Charles. He can’t even properly swing at Charles with boxing gloves, because either Charles isn’t a threat, in which case Edwin doesn’t want to attack him, or he is, in which case Edwin can’t attack him. (There’s no in-between space in his head for “putting force behind a hit without either of you being in danger”.)

Anyway. Yeah. That’s my thought, I guess, is the boys developing their role-division because of Edwin’s learned helplessness, and Charles working with him to both accommodate it and try to decondition it over time, but only able to get so far, even after 35 years, because it was conditioned into him over more than twice that time and a lot more forcefully than Charles can do.

But it’s progress.

Miniroth in Dragon Quest (Rough Recap)

Alright, I’m off work and I gathered as many of my translations as possible. A lot of these were just put through screenshot/google translate, so they aren’t perfect, but to avoid blatant misinformation, I double-checked with some of my Japanese mutuals on Twitter to see if my guesses were right and they helped out 🙏

Young Sephiroth arrives in the world of Orchestrra, which is full of monsters. Here was the basic summary translated.

Long story short, the other humans the second group of monsters and the human player (Master) eventually meet are Cloud and Co, who have their own quest to escape.

But Miniroth becomes the center of the story and I recapped the highlights of his bond with Monan, the cute pink monster, in these posts specifically.

As they gathered info, Monan told Sephiroth about her world and he listened eagerly, but he had some points where he was too mission-focused and poor with his communication. He apologized for this immensely after an incident where a monster caught him off guard and Monan rushed to protect him the attack and she got hurt.

It was after this point (shown above), that Sephiroth started to actually befriend Monan. Then he opened up and they had this cute moment where Monan called him a friend and Sephiroth just about melted.

This bonding subplot apparently developed more today and we got this scene where Monan calls Sephiroth kind/compassionate and he is moved by it 🥲

And Monan was just starting to want to ask Sephiroth more about his life after he told her about Team Glenn too!

So yeah, they became buddies over the course of a few days, but then the drama that I was last freaking out about came down to ruin it all.

Shown above, Sephiroth briefly teamed up with Cloud and co, which went well. But then Seph started getting weird premonitions and psychological attacks, which led to an extreme breakdown in the middle of a big battle. The screen turned purple and Miniroth started yelling in pain before vanishing into a portal that zapped him away.

Aaaaaand out came Dragon Quest’s adult Sephiroth!

Now we know where the purple came from :(

I loved the design though! It’s very OG/old Crisis Core!

But yeah, he burnt down the monster village. Can he stop doing this sjfjdjd 💀

Monan essentially just refused to believe it was the same Sephiroth and immediately helped Cloud and the others beat him.

That was the main event, and there were some other battles/conclusions that I couldn’t get all the translations for, but in a nutshell, everyone worked together to save the day. Cloud and co were fine and went home, but this is where the ending really upset me because. MINIROTH. DID. NOT. COME. BACK.

The last time we saw him, he got pulled away in the middle of his agony (which was caused by his older self…which is so fucked up because he basically ruined his own happiness 💀) and Monan worried about him!!!

THEY CLOSED THE WHOLE DAMN EVENT WITH MONAN BEING SAD AND MISSING SMOL SEPH AND THE LAST TIME SHE SAW HIM, HE WAS LITERALLY SCREAMING IN AGONY??? WHICH IS SO UNFAIR?? THEY ALSO DIDN’T GET TO SAY GOODBYE!!

And the screen faded to black with this FUCKING GUT PUNCH AJDHSJSJD

This lovely Japanese player translated it in detail for me. Monan and the others promised to explore more so that they could share interesting stories with Sephiroth if they ever saw him again — the stories that he seemed so delighted to hear. They hoped it would help him forget “painful moments.”

And they also said they’d never forget his awkward but joyful smile when Monan called him a friend, which was this scene 💔

So if anyone was curious about what happens next in the My Stubborn novel after episode 8...

In a nutshell, they go home and Sorn tries to act like nothing changed. Jun starts avoiding him and leaving super early in the mornings leading to that Sorn waiting for him in the dark scene. Jun goes back to Franz's club with Win and Sorn finds him there with Jom and of course Sorn loses it. Sorn uses the he's looking out for Jun because of Tai excuse again and Jun basically asks if Sorn cares about him at all or if this is just because Tai asked Sorn to watch out for him. They have a big blow out fight in front of Win and Jun says they are done. If they keep Jun telling Sorn he hates him...I will not be ok. Tai finds out from Win that Sorn and Jun have been fucking, of course Tai goes off on him and hits Sorn. Then Tai pulls strings so that Jun starts working at the factory and is impossible for Sorn to see. Tai puts him up in a condo Sorn doesn't know about, so he doesn't know where Jun is staying and can't reach him by phone. Sorn...is a mess not knowing where Jun is but no one will help him find him. That covers probably the next episode and maybe more. If anyone wants to know more...let me know.

I think Tom/Voldemort(applying to either of them) deserve to have more fucked up humour in fics since it's basically canon.

Like let's be honest, both of them basically LIVE for weirding people out, you'd either be downright uncomfortable at best spending time with them or psychologically scarred/traumatized at worst. Young Tom was basically the most terrible kid in Wools orphanage with what he did to the rabbit and how he literally made two kids mute from some unnamed noodle incident. It's pretty clear even from the dialogue that he was practically on a powertrip, likely finding it humorous that the other children didn't have the power or magic to defend themselves.

Voldemort on the other hand, is more subtle with displays of psychological torment(when he isn't throwing around crucios) Eg. Calling Peter wormtail and taking numerous jabs at his cowardice and then joking about bellatrixes "highest pleasure" in that scene and then asking draco if he would babysit the cubs... lol

The only reason he doesn't come across like a guy who jokes around often is because most, if not all of his "jokes" are delivered very straightforwardly– and also most of his screentime is basically just torturing people, something he finds fun albeit it doesn't come across as jolly to the audience for obvious reasons

Like he's the type of guy to audibly snort at his own jokes, he probably used to write out edgy ass jokes along with anagrams of his name in that stupid diary of his— he probably thinks of himself as the pinnacle of hilarity along with being the greatest dark wizard who ever lived, hes like that boss who makes lots of cringe jokes and laughs afterwards then your forced to laugh aswell because you don't wanna get fired(do the DES actually find the jokes funny or is it just because it's Voldemort who's telling them? Guess we'll never know)

Also,

"Ah, I've never been so close to any soul but you and this special connection we share blooms further with every glance I devote to you, it shouldn't feel so significant yet it does undeniably so, our souls are connected just like how we are linked in blood, it is perhaps why we look so alike, we are releated after all—infact we share a common ancestor, we are practically family in roots. So tell me, Harry- how does it feel kissing your own flesh and blood?"

Tom laughs for a bit before leaning back in to kiss again and Harry is just gobsmacked in every single way like- 'Wtf??? I thought this was a makeout session and not a 23andme reveal??????'

Harry thought Tom was being serious for a minute and asking a question but Tom was genuinely fucking around In every way he just lowkey sucks In delivery LMDOEJSK

Also, Voldemort being dragged into a room of people(none of whom he likes) and the first thing he declares out loud is "Casting the impervious curse on everyone here would be deftly simple!" and everyone there just stops and stares at him like "????" And he laughs only to say something like "'Cease being so fretful, I am merely being humorous— unless..........."

Anyways, i could go on and on about scenarios like this LIKE let Tom/Vee be a little silly(murderously) He doesn't have to be serious/dark all the time!!!! Sometimes, he's just a jolly little fella who thinks he's the funniest person in the whole wide world(his murderous streak just adds to it, dont tell him the truth shhhh!)

For Your Own Good: Masterpost (Story Complete)

If you don't know what this post is about, "For Your Own Good" or tagged as "Early Amnesia AU" on tumblr is a dialogue-only Gravity Falls fanfiction, that I wrote as a writing exercise after not writing fanfiction for a few years.

The basic rundown of the plot is that Stan has his mind mysteriously wiped thirty some odd years early, in a scenario where Ford doesn't build the portal.

Ford happens across Stan in Gravity Falls, a few months after what would have been the Portal Incident, and quickly realizes that Stan (who believes his name is Stan Malone) has no memories of his true identity, or anything from before he was kicked out, in fact his memories have only been clear for the past year. So Ford does the only reasonable thing a man in his position would do, and immediately kidnaps him. And later drags Fiddleford into his shenanigans.

This story is a Dramedy. Yeah, the focus is Ford and Stan's relationship and the drama of holding a grudge against someone who straight up doesn't know who you are, while also trying to help them. But there's a lot of jokes and banter because the scenario isn't going to pretend like it isn't off the wall. Before the AU was called 'early amnesia' some of the askers referred to it as 'the kidnapped Stan fic'.

Also, there's Fiddlestan in the background. Bill is also there, but he isn't a malevolent figure. He's more like an enigmatic instigator and chaotic entity who strives to raise Fords blood pressure, he's entirely too busy simping to actually be evil. Bill and Fords relationship isn't intended to have them be a couple, because Ford's is portrayed as Asexual, but if you want to read Ford and Bill as a romantic but not sexual couple, I wouldn't fault you.

It's also loosely based on the "Mystery Trio" concept. In this case, you can boil Fiddleford, Ford, and Stan down to: Done, Extra AF, and Cartoon Logic, respectively.

Corrupted!Admin Jesse AU (MCSM Trojan AU)

in summary: jesse, without knowing, accidentally inherited admin powers during the fight w/ romeo in the terminal and later on gets infected by a virus or whatever ill figure out the terms and naming (...someday..)

ALSOO romeo is there for a reason. in this AU, jesse acts as the main antagonist since his (with the virus' heavy influence) main goal is to basically catch and kill romeo in order to lower the world's veil of security and allow otherworlders to breach into the world

BACKGROUND

the world is incapable of functioning without the existence of an admin. this is primarily because the presence of an admin deters 'otherworlders' from tresspasing into the world and disrupting order

this measure was put in place ever since the 'server' came to existence by the “the server owner”  + the server owner is long gone/inactive with their powers were passed down to the three (ex)admins

STORY

the golden gauntlet's purpose was meant to get rid of an admin's powers, not store. during the scene ROMEO was being stripped of his authority, the gauntlet served as a medium of power transfer between ROMEO and JESSE, causing JESSE to absorb ROMEO's powers.

the final punch that took away ROMEO's powers ended up causing a temporary rift to tear open which led to an unknown being to breach into the server, tricking the cast by acting as a humble traveler, and latching onto JESSE—corrupting him and forcibly awakening his status as an “admin”

the virus brainwashed/heavily influenced him into lowering the veil of security of the world so he'd be able to overthrow and allow the other otherworlders inside, but he was restricted due to the command greatly affecting the very fabric of the world. his order was automatically cancelled and overridden + his authority was insufficient to cause a change that large. all this because ROMEO was still alive.

outer beings are chaotic entities that exist outside a world/server, if a large amount of these entities were to enter a server it would cause system instability and lead to the degradation of the entire world

in the scenario that the world is breached: these outer beings can corrupt and spread to other people, phase objects/structures/etc in and out of existence like it never existed, cause the temperature to increase, and basically cause the known world to become uninhabitable

POSSOBLE QUESTIONS

1.) Why and how is Romeo capable of overriding Corrupted!Jesse's command even though his powers were taken away?

Even if an admin's powers were taken away, if they were once an admin—their being still remains. The 'world' is capable of remembering their existence because the 'world' is connected/the source of the admins powers. (Basically the 'world' has a history of whoever were past admins and still counts them as authority figures IN THE CASE another admin wants to carry out a command that shakes up the 'world' it holds a vote. Additionally, when it comes to a vote, an admin's default response is a refusal. If all admins are inactive and only one remains, their power is absolute and the sole admin has zero restrictions)

2.) If Corrupted!Jesse's goal is to find Romeo and kill him, couldn't he just teleport the guy and be done with it?

Although the virus controls Jesse's body and influences his actions for the majority of the time—the real Jesse is actually still conscious and aware of what's going on. Since Jesse is aware of what would happen if 'he' were to find Romeo, every time 'he' tries to teleport him or do anything that results in automatically finding himself—he stops it.

3.) If that's the case, can't he just stop himself from 'himself'?

However, while he is still conscious and capable of stopping 'himself', doing this takes willpower which exhausts his energy—when this happens he ends up blacking out and during this he becomes unconscious. (He only regains the memories of what 'he' did when he wakes up from his blackout). In short, he doesn't have enough energy/willpower to kick the virus out of his system

4.) How does this virus work? How does it control and affect Jesse?

The virus essentially becomes Jesse's neighbor. It directs itself to Jesse's admins powers and controls his mind due to his direct contact with said powers. Because the virus doesn't belong from this world, it is incompatible with Jesse's body which is why it glitches and bleeds black. Since the virus is the major power in Jesse's own body, it causes Jesse to be within a limbo-like state between asleep and awake. Additionally, the virus sees itself doing no wrong—portraying itself as a saint proclaiming how it only wants to let its kind have a place to stay and demonizes the main cast for being selfish and inconsiderate.

I find it so interesting that during the Twisted Hearts OP, when the song goes "I feel you sins all the time", they showed Mycroft and Albert respectively. While Mycroft does not understand/know everything that's going on with the LOC and Moriarty & co., I do believe he understands how Albert feels, especially about taking the punishment on himself.

For example: This scene in MTP, post-Final problem

He understands because he knows Albert and, more importantly, he has been there, it's just the circumstances and the consequences of the decision is very different. The reason he dedicated his life to working for the government was because of his father's involvement in the French Revolution. He wanted to repent on behalf of him, so he decided to take on that punishment, protecting Sherlock in the process. Albert does something very similar, he takes on the atonement so Louis doesn't have to. He believes Louis deserves so much more than punishment; he deserves a fulfilling life, a happy one, or at least as happy as it can get, and above all, the one who should reap the crops William sown [I should REALLY make a separate post on Louis ye gods-].

Mycroft could've let the Moriarty brothers do what they saw fit, as long as he was spared from the brutality, but instead he threatens them. If they don't put the country's future and prosperity first, Mycroft will personally "annihilate" him [his words not mine].

This scene really goes to show that Mycroft is genuinely dedicated to the Empire, he is very intent to serve for the country's future, but it's not blind loyalty, it's him being bound to it, it's the least he could do to make up for his father's sins [sins of the father am I right?] and it's the same for Albert. He and Mycroft love their younger brothers, to the point of sacrificing themselves in order to protect them, to make sure they live as they please, free of guilt. The difference is that Mycroft changed over time, he started to loosen up. The first time we see him outside of his office for non-work related matters was with meeting everyone in the dinner party. And for Albert? Time stopped turning entirely. The moment he entered the tower was the moment he couldn't go back. It was him, his thoughts and the messages from Mycroft to distract him. The only person who could convince him to come out of his prison and start living was William; because William's actions, sins, guilt and will to die was the very reason why Albert chose his punishment.

In comparison, Mycroft's self enforced punishment was lighter to Albert's. While Mycroft has to deal with constant stress [this is not really canon, but considering that he's referred to as the government, yeaaaaa I think he's gonna be stressed af] and grief, Albert had to deal with a spiral towards insanity, grief, religious guilt for the Moriarty plan and his compulsive thoughts. And he's sure as hell isn't going to stand on his own for a while after that.

Another thing [this time it's actually related to my point :0] is exactly when the two show up. Mycroft shows up around the lyrics "I feel your sins" while albert shows up around "all the time", which further proves my point. Since Sherlock and William showing up around the point of "I can't feel your love but I can give you love" basically describes Sherlock's goal of saving William and their relationship in a nutshell.

"I don't know if you see me as a friend but I'll see you like that anyway, and save you, just like what I would do to another friend."

What's not to say the same can be true to Mycroft and Albert?

Yeah this is basically that dinner in a nutshell.

So there's this moment from a show called The Mighty Boosh that's been pretty viral recently, and it felt fitting for our favorite masked weirdo and my well-intentioned thief. (Ironically my friend did his own comic of our FL characters with a different scene from the same show)

Anyway shout out to the waiter who has to do their job while these two are having this strange conversation.

In my personal opinion, Tails is a very interesting character in Sonic Prime. No, I don't mean Nine, that's a different person in a different universe. No, I mean the Tails in the 'original' universe (before the whole Paradox Prism incident of course).

Although Tails is in fact demonstrated as a side character before the Paradox Prism incident because Sonic is the main focus (duh), if we take a closer look, we can view that in EP1 S1 of Sonic Prime and the flashbacks that contains throughout the series, it showcase how Sonic's struggles and flaws impact on his best friends, but mostly his closest friend and family even, Tails.

(They will be spoilers of sonic prime underneath so if you haven't watched uh... please do or else uh, read along).

One of the greatest examples that I can provide to you is the scene where Sonic makes the huge earthquake due to Eggman's sneaky plan. While Sonic is putting on a big show, just being his cocky old self, Knuckles and Amy are fighting the badniks on the ground while Tails is flying his Tornado up high for tactical reasons. Yet, Tails' great intelligence and quick thinking picks up that this could be a trap and tries to warn to the blue hedgehog that it's a trap, yelling to Sonic. But, Sonic doesn't listen.

Why? Well, this isn't because that Sonic is heartless and doesn't care about his friends. He does care about his friends, a lot actually. It's just his flaws 'getting the better of him'. His impulsiveness to making decisions without second thinking it through and his impatience of wanting to get things done as soon as possible rather than preciously thinking about the situation and doing it through and him wanting to do things his own way of what he thinks is better for himself, his friends and other people around him without taking in consideration of the impact of other people from time to time, basically ADHD in a nutshell but, let's just not take this as headcanon reasons for now. And when Eggman insults Tails for his mutation, well, that was the end of it because Sonic's desire to protect his friends from danger which can be another weakness if it is overprotectiveness and blinds the character of the situation of the after effects which does indeed happen. (Not saying that weaknesses are bad or anything. Weaknesses and flaws are just what makes us more human or to common fiction sense, more real to the characters that the audience views. Especially to characters like Sonic who is often depicted as this perfect hero in most forms of media, mostly because he is written as a static character and a symbolism of hope rather than a hero who makes mistakes and has they're own quirks and whatnot).

Because of this, Sonic attacks the robot which triggers an explosion or earthquake beyond his capabilities, exploding a mountain that was nearby, a leading success to Eggman's plans which Sonic and his friends don't know just yet. Although Sonic is like "Yippee! We did it, we destroyed Eggman!", he quickly discovers that Eggman wasn't in the robot but a device inside of it and sees Tails flying his plane back to the workshop without another word. While Knuckles and Amy identifies that Tails is rather bothered and upset, it takes Sonic a little longer to piece it together because of his another personality trait - his low-empathy of struggling to understand other people's or even his own feelings and struggles. I mean, he does the dumbest face of :I when he tries to process of what just happened (I couldn't find the picture but, you can see what I mean).

Afterwards, the next scene takes place in Tails' workshop when the hedgehog apologizes to the fox about his mistake of not listening to Tails, the two-tailed genius pushes down his feelings and brushes it off which then quickly jumps to Rouge entering and telling them about the Paradox Prism.

To be honest, this scene confuzzled me for months because of how Tails' character was written. His verbal interaction felt emotionless as if he didn't care that Sonic didn't listen to him this point, although it was clear that he was upset when he left to his workshop at the last scene beforehand. I personally thought that it was just either some bad voice acting of the character because he is a kid and usually quite expressive or that it just another bad interpretation of Tails. Until like, literally today, I came up to the interesting conclusion that maybe that the fox was in fact lying to Sonic and wasn't actually fine, masking his feelings for the better of it. Going off by the fact that the whole point of the plot is to showcase how Sonic's 'flaws' impacted him as a character as well as his relationships around him and how it impacts on his character arc throughout the whole entire plot, I came to the conclusion that it was just a really sneaky way of sliding in the fact that Tails was indeed impacted on Sonic's 'flaws' but hides his thoughts and perspective rather than expressing it. This can be for a number of reasons, like his anxiety and how it sometimes forces him to not speak problems that affected him, how he looks up to Sonic as a role model and this big brother figure (afraid of letting him down and being a burden), because of what actually happened where Sonic defended Tails when Eggman insulted the fox for his weird mutation (perhaps relieved an thankful that his big brother did that although there was big consequences) and the interesting contract of him and Nine. You see, Nine is an alternated version of Tails right? A version of Tails of 'What if Sonic didn't meet Tails? What would happen to him as a character?' and that type of stuff. If we, let's say replace Tails with Nine in this scene, Nine would literally aggressively lash out on Sonic for not listening. But in this case, Tails just kept it to himself just it was nothing. It just shows how bad it has gotten to the point where Tails is not bothered to deal with it.

But here is the thing: No matter how annoying Sonic can be, Tails still loves him and cares about him. Like for example where Tails, Amy, Knuckles and Rouge were dealing with the badniks on the mountain and the fox praying that the blue blur would show up soon and the palm tree scene where Tails explains a shared memory of the two brothers that further gives Amy a point about how the palm tree symbolizes the shared strong connections around them. We can also use the evidence of where Sonic goes through that portal thingy (I have no idea what it is called but, it sets in EP1 S1 after Sonic destroys the Paradox Prism), Tails says things like 'I don't need an army when I have you Sonic' or 'I always need you' (i kinda forget, don't mind me) and the little ghost figures in the later two seasons shown in Ghost Hills. This yet again shows the obvious contrast between Tails and Nine and how they deal with situations if it affected them personally due to their different backstories.

I would of liked if at the end of S3 at the end of the episode, it had a little scene where Sonic would personally apologize to Tails for being a bad friend (and brother) and would not let the fox brush it off, the blue hedgehog wanting to show him that he cares very much of Tails' thoughts and emotions at the end of the day. But uh, of course the writers didn't do that (i hated S3, I swear).
