daycare worker? attendant?! nanami headcanons sorry this has actually been nibbling away at my brain... i'll shut up abt this au at some point. anyway, enjoy!

daycare attendant! nanami whose fingers always smell like citrus after lunch because kugisaki has randomly deemed him her orange peeler.

daycare attendant! nanami who roleplays with the kids as a chivalrous knight during tea time. he sneaks glances at you from his cramped spot in the tiny chair, a foam sword resting on his thighs. when your gaze meets his and he sees the small, amused smirk on your lips, he swears his heart skips a beat or two.

daycare attendant! nanami who packs extra snacks for the kids. he has an entire list in his notes app of their preferences and allergies.

daycare attendant! nanami who, during nap time, listens to r&b (sade, micheal jackson, beyonce, h.e.r., ms. lauryn hill) while attempting to finish up a book he started weeks ago.

daycare attendant! nanami who walks you to your car every evening once all the kids are gone, even if his car is parked on the other side of the parking lot.

daycare attendant! nanami who notices you eyeing one of the pastries he brought from a small bakery. that same pastry is on your desk when you unlock your classroom the next morning.

daycare attendant! nanami who genuinely enjoys doing word searches with the kids, even if they're so easy it takes him less than five minutes.

daycare attendant! nanami who looks up whenever one of the kids calls your name. you don't even have to be in the room, and he'll still do it, hazel eyes searching for your radiant presence.

daycare attendant! nanami whose desktop wallpaper is a picture of kuantan, malaysia. when you ask him about it, he explains the reason calmly as always, but you can see the twinkle in his eyes and the smile threatening to spread across his features.

daycare attendant! nanami who is picky as hell about candles. if it stinks or is overly strong, he won't spare it a second glance. that's not to say he doesn't enjoy unconventional smells, though.

daycare attendant! nanami who only enjoys talking to you. he's cordial enough to his other coworkers, but something about how you smile at him or gesture animatedly with your hands while you speak or visit him during lunch, ready to tell him a story about something silly the kids did... it makes him a little more excited to come to work every day.

divider creds: hitobaby hai!! i'm back again lolsies. i can't tell if attendant or worker is a better word, but i think imma just call it attendant instead. also, ik i said that he wouldnt go back to jujutsu sorcery but like imagine him spending a lil extra time before work to exorcise any curses that get too close to the daycare... its not realistic bc its against the silly rules of jujutsu society or wtv but idgaf!!! nanamin loves them kids (and maybe u idk)<3

augh alright!! okay so!

Loss of Control AU

Basically, this is post-showdown, but Dark did survive! It takes place right around the same time that the episode The Box does in canon!!!

Chosen and SC are captured, but so is Dark! Victim drains Dark's powers to take them for themself but it goes very very wrong and Victim loses all control, basically going into a feral state where they are constantly in fight/flight, which is very bad when you have brand new powers you can't control :(

Victim immediately is in a lot of pain, and basically wrecks a ton of Rocket Corp. The mercs are kind of at a loss as to what to do since Victim destroyed a lot of their weapons in the initial panic, and end up going to Chosen, because how the fuck else are you supposed to stop a superpowered stick on a rampage? c!alan didn't have any better ideas and without their tools the mercs aren't really in a much better situation

Chosen ends up getting released alongside SC, and finds out what happened to Dark, so they end up kind of freaking out. They can't exactly leave Dark here, because they ABSOLUTELY don't trust the Mercs to not just turn around and hold Dark hostage to get the upper hand again, and if Dark found out they would absolutely try to pursue Victim and Chosen. so they very reluctantly go with their best idea-- keep Dark safe by trapping them on the desktop!

admittedly i like to imagine either stick!alan or normal cursor alan depending on whatever's more fun for the situation, so that's not really set in stone at all lol

but that's basically the whole deal what's going on with dark and chosen!

Selkie Sticks AU

basically i have no idea how Alan becomes a selkie but the summary of the most important stuff is here!!!!

Dark does survive in this AU and gets redeemed as I've recently decided. :]

selkie!SC basically starts out as a toddler just because i think it's fun! Alan adopts the rest of the CG when they're around 4! (not as in how long they've existed but their age lol)

selkie!chosen is very much protective of their younger siblings, and kind of ends up bonding with alan a lot because they help take care of SC and the tiny CG a lot!

the CG have 'coats' as well, but they aren't selkies! alan actually made the little 'coats' for them as a gift. they're not real coats, but Alan figured that they'd want something to match! he was very much correct and the CG love their false coats a lot

also i sometimes talk about an AU where selkie!alan is still stuck as a cursor while taking care of SC! that's not a part of the main AU i just think it's so so funny to imagine

i think that's about all the tidbits i have that aren't covered tho!!

Stick!Noogai

i'm just including this one bc it's a favorite of mine hehe.

basically, during AVA 1, Alan somehow gets stuck in the computer! i'll be referring to him as Noogai from here on bc that's his name in the au :]

anyway, when he gets stuck, Victim terrorizes him for a while, before Noogai makes Chosen! in this AU Chosen is actually the one with mission code, but it just sums up to 'please protect me i am SO SCARED'! this goes very badly while it's still in strong effect but Chosen does their best to deal with it bc Noogai isn't sure how to change it without potentially hurting them :(

Victim kind of ends up not wanting to torment him in the end because he's kind of. too pathetic?? he's sick from the shift from human to stick, he's terrified, and he doesn't know how to protect himself at all, and it's really no fun at all to scare him because he just has a panic attack. honestly Vic is kind of worried about him after a certain point because he responds so poorly to becoming a stick, both physically and mentally.

eventually the two end up in a sort of begrudging understanding, and Vic ends up (reluctantly) helping Chosen take care of him.

I'm kind of not sure where Dark shows up, but let's just say they show up here for simplicity! Noogai draws them as a friend for both him and Chosen! unfortunately Chosen's first reaction to seeing an unfamiliar stick on the PC is to punch them. after that initial road-bump though things are pretty much fine!

they eventually find their way into the outernet and end up moving there, partially because Noogai is so sick of the PC and also because it's very hard to take care of someone who's used to being a human on a computer. Noogai ofc brings the pencil and pen.

he ends up kind of having a semblance of normality after moving to the outernet, and things are pretty much fine up until the fair where Gold dies in canon!

Noogai actually ends up going in before Gold and getting caught in the crash, but Chosen saves him, leaving him with scarring and a crippling fear of minecraft, but him and Gold do end up becoming friends! They're both not exactly the most social people among most sticks, and they're both kind of nerds, so they end up getting along really well and doing a lot of stupid kid stuff together!

SC ends up being created after Noogai tries to show the pencil to Gold, for no reason other than he was dumb and the first thing he drew was....... a stick. because of course it was.

Noogai is basically the little sibling of most of the hollowheads though, and it's mostly just a silly au!! Victim does end up having a soft spot for him deep down eventually, but they'd never tell him that because he'd absolutely exploit it. and also the mortifying ordeal of being perceived. mostly the second one. they view him as their little brother though, even if they sometimes think he's a little brat :]

also i draw the noogai!sticks with faces because noogai drew faces onto them!! he thought it'd make Vic a little less scary and they were nice enough to tolerate it

tuesday again 5/28/2024

we are rapidly approaching the one-year anniversary of my ill-fated cross country move. i have changed from having a bad time in massachusetts to having a bad time in texas, but this time with my best friend's shoulder to cry on in real life. so an improvement i suppose

the maltese falcon by dashiell hammett. i didn't really appreciate philip marlowe the-human-detective-not-my-cat's bisexual eye for interior design and outfits until i started reading this book. this passage really threw me with regards to shoes before pants in what i assume is a fairly normal suit and not a specific type of formalwear? i have a very specific blind fashion blind spot and that's pre-wwii menswear

this led to an absolutely VICIOUS argument with my bestie bc our grandfathers were from very different eras and held themselves to very different levels of formality. hers was a fancy white collar bastard and mine wasn't. i never saw mine in a suit outside a funeral.

anyway i KNOW that the fashion in the latter half of the twenties up to WWII was for a very wide legged pant (the oxford bag) and i GUESS you could certainly shove your whole goddamn shoe down that leg but like. it threw me. socks before pants, certainly. especially if you have to fuck with sock garters. but shoving your whole shoe down a pant leg seems. well it just seems. there's an order of operations i thought was sacred for most things. was the seat truly so tight in an oxford bag. are suspenders really that awful to bend over in. so much womens formalwear is uncomfy on purpose so i feel like i have a skewed view of acceptable pain for an outfit to cause you

why am i reading this? can you think of a more on-brand book for me to read? please let me know if you do and i'll add it to The Pile

watching

the tremendously charming soviet childrens film The Tale of Tsar Saltan (1967, Ptushko). court intrigue! a swan princess! giants marching out of the sea! a slightly unsettling squirrel puppet shelling gold and emerald walnuts! a lot of sight gags, some lovely ballet sequences, and there are so many little moving parts to look at in each scene. at its densest it's like howl's bedroom in howl's moving castle

playing

two things in genshin that took absolutely forever to accomplish:

i finally maxed out the overall XP system (not the character XP system) so the game's just been chucking in-game currency at me instead, which has been helpful!

and i finally caught two thousand fish! very nice to clear like forty fishing spot markers i put down on my map, in advance of the forty billion markers i'll want to put down to mark stuff in the next big release at the end of the summer.

i forgot that i can use my desktop for things that aren't genshin and applying to jobs, so i reinstalled steam and fired up powerwash simulator. they popped out one new DLC in the year since i touched it, a santa's workshop level last winter. a good hour well spent. i spent a LOT of time with this game right before my move last year and it did genuinely help my anxiety.

making

not a fallow week but a pictureless week. ended up painting most of my best friend's bedroom bc we didn't have anything better to do on a saturday night. i think this was the hardest i've ever raw-dogged a painting project bc we had no tarps or painters tape or paint trays or rollers wider than 3". just a bucket of paint and a need to make the half-painted bedroom wall look nicer for her new job zoom training. we have to do a lot of things like move the bed and paint that wall, and paint the ceiling, and do all the trim + doors, but it does look much nicer on zoom now!

Okay so I just finished the show (in two weeks) and decided to start scrolling Tumblr and I just wanted to thank you for SETTING MY MIND STRAIGHT ABOUT TOMMY

Because I watched the show so fast, I wasn’t paying attention to the side characters in Chimney/Hen Begins because I didn’t think it would matter and tbh I forgot that Tommy was a bastard in those episodes. I was really focused on how they wrote Buck’s bisexuality and how I resonated with his “f it we ball” mentality surrounding it - how it meant more to him that he lied to Eddie vs the date itself, ya know?

Now rewatching these scenes it did feel a bit weird and I thank you for these dissections!

(Sorry if this doesn’t feel coherent I’m rewatching the show from the beginning with my sibling to really understand it lol)

if tommy kinard has no haters, i am dead. i swear to god there no is no fictional character i hate more than him right now (mostly because of how worshipped he is in a certain part of the fandom).

BUT you're so right because when it was announced tommy was coming back, i had to do a double take because who's that? i went back to watch the begins eps and... yeah. 7x04 when tommy kissed him (friendly reminder i was at work watching it lmao) my face was that standing man emoji (i'm on desktop you know the one). like i knew buck was probably gonna be canonically bi and i knew it was probably gonna be bc of tommy but i still was like... you chose him?? still convinced they did it because it'll be easy to write him off quickly with good reason.

sorry if that made literally no sense it's that time of night where i can't think straight (ha)

I am SUPREMELY interested in your internet activity book - I work at a library and am trying to make a similar resource myself. The Australian Government created a fantastic digital literacy resource website called Be Connected, but even though it has tutorials that go right down to 'this is a mouse' basics you do need a certain level of comprehension to access the site (also it doesn't go far enough on privacy imo) so I've been trying to patch the gaps and driving myself slightly insane with it bc there is just. so much.

If you're willing to share more I'd be thrilled to hear about it, and I would LOVE to pool resources if you're willing.

So what I'm basically doing is 11 activities to help people get familiar with a windows computer that they own. It assumes that the user has permissions to make changes to the desktop and install software, etc. The activities I'm writing up do include some browser activities (I walk people through creating a protonmail account and signing up for a password manager) but starts with things like "pin programs to your taskbar" and "create a folder on the desktop and rename it."

The stuff that I'm focusing on is things like "save a QR code in paint to print it out because you don't have a smartphone and can't return this item otherwise" and "learn how to find where files are on your computer." This is mostly supposed to be a way for someone to feel like they're being supervised and are doing safe activities as they learn to get comfortable with simply handling the various input devices and navigating the desktop.

So I don't go in-depth on security because that's not the purpose of this resource specifically, and security can, unfortunately, be something of an advanced topic.

What I would love to know is what in-browser things people tend to struggle with because it's likely that you are seeing people who can't install software on the computers they are using and can't store data on the computers long-term, so they have a very different relationship to your computers than they would to their own. What do people at the library struggle with on library computers? What are the things that they come in to do? Do people use your computers more for going on the internet or for things like printing? Do most of the people who come in to use library computers have email addresses? Because I would very much like to create a similar activity book for using the internet regardless of browser or operating system.

The Heathers + Veronica play Minecraft

Mining away, I don't know what to mine i'll mine this anywa-

SHUT UP HEATHER!

Of course they've played Minecraft before, they grew up in the 2010s (at least in this AU)

Chandler and Mac played on a world when they were younger, but as they got more popular Chandler had to cut out anything that made her nerdy so she stopped playing

Duke and Veronica also played, I mean like who didn't play at least once, but eventually they got bored with it and moved on to other games

But once they graduated and settled in to their new lives, they started to look back on their past fondly and pick up some of their old hobbies, Minecraft being one of them

One day Mac brought up her and Chandler's old MC world and how much fun it was and all the stuff she built and how she still hasn't forgiven her for killing her dog

"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT MAC AND FOR GOD'S SAKE IT WAS 13 YEARS AGO GET OVER IT"

"I WILL NEVER FORGET FIDO YOU HEARTLESS MONSTER"

The other 2 chimed in about their own memories and eventually Mac suggested that they create a world together and all play, an idea which was met with enthusiasm from everyone except Chandler (who could have guessed that)

She thinks its 'childish' and 'boring' and 'a waste of time'

Duke and Veronica give Mac 'the look' which is code for 'Chandler is being stubborn deploy the puppy-dog eyes'

Mac gives her said eyes which causes Chandler to groan before giving in

They play Java Edition bc they already have desktops which they use for work or whatever

They play vanilla bc they haven't played in a very long time and have no idea about the new updates, so before they move into that they are going to re-familiarize themselves with the base game

They load in and do the usual, cut down tress, get stone, iron, etc.

While mining Chandler sees this structure and she's like 'I think they updated the Stronghold'

Everyone is excited that they won't have to get all of the Eyes of Ender later

Chandler goes down and starts screaming that she can't see anything

She sprints around aimlessly and eventually hears this loud cracking sound and sees this giant blue/black monster crawling out of the ground

She then proceeds to scream, get one-shot, die, and lose all of her items

She keeps saying 'What the fuck was that?!?!?'

After they google it they realize that they had found a Warden and after seeing that he can easily kill a player in Prot 4 Diamond Armor, they decide to stay far far away from that place

They find a village, and Duke proceeds to rob them of all of their goods before smacking a villager and then getting obliterated by the Iron Golem

Of course her gfs try to save her, before also getting obliterated by the golem, and they lose all their progress and stuff

Chandler is pissed and is about to rage quit, Duke is trying to justify punching the villager (apparently it was homophobic), Mac is trying to calm Chandler down, and Veronica is just watching the chaos unfold

Once everyone chills out, they agree to split up duties to make this a whole lot easier

Chandler is on wood duty, she has to go get as much wood as she can, and as many different kinds as she can

Duke goes get food, slaughtering every single cow, chicken, pig and sheep she comes across, while also going back to steal all the crops from that village

Veronica is in charge of going mine and getting enough materials for the 4 of them

Duke wanted to be the one to do it but no one trusted her to fairly distribute the ores between them

Mac is the one who has to build them a house, bc she's the only one with a creative bone in her body

So they all go off to do their jobs, and immediately run into issues

Bc Chandler is still off getting wood, Mac doesn't have much stuff to build with

Veronica also severely underestimated the new caves, and instead of mining she spends most of her time running from the hordes of creepers and skeletons chasing her

And worse yet, none of them have slept, so phantoms started spawning

None of them had any clue what a phantom was, so once it became night and these demons started dive bombing them, they all started freaking out

Mac dug herself into a hole and refused to come out until the rest of her gfs assured her it was day and they were gone

It was at that point they took a break and took some time to research all of the changes and updates (which they probably should have done from the beginning)

They sit on the couch and watch video after video going over the updates

Mac gets excited bc they are sooooooo many more pets for her to get

There's birds and fish and turtles and new doggos and-

She also loves the bamboo wood bc she can finally make a yellow house

Same thing with the cherry blossom trees, they just look so pretty

Duke is enthralled with the end crystals

'You mean I can actually place them and blow them up wherever I want? Ohhhhh I am going to have SO much fun with that'

That comment is swiftly met with three 'If you blow up my house you are sleeping on the couch' from her gfs

Chandler cannot wait to get her hands on some Netherite, she is gonna make some armor and tools to protect herself, both from the mobs and from a certain gremlin

She looks at Duke as she says that last part

Veronica is just intrigued by how much there is to find now

From the last time she's played theres several new biomes, a new ocean with things in it, a overhauled Nether, Ancient Cities and Trial Chambers and all sorts of things for her to explore and find

Eventually, after much trial, error, and Duke being her gremlin ass self, they all have diamond tools and a decent looking place to live

They then decide to go to the Nether and oh boy does it go poorly

Despite their research they were severely unprepared

They all forgot to wear gold armor so the Piglins kept attacking them

Chandler looked an Enderman in the eyes and it started attacking her

Veronica got relentlessly perused by this Magma Cube and she kept yelling for it to leave her the fuck alone

Mac almost fell into lava after a Ghast blew up some netherrack under her feet

Basically its a miracle they made it to the Fortress without losing all of their stuff

After being terrorized by the Wither Skeletons (and Duke accidentally hitting a Zombified Piglin), they barricaded themselves into a room with a Blaze spawner

They got the Blaze Rods and hi-tailed it outta there and back to the overworld, not before stopping and killing some Endermen first

They get prepared to fight the Ender Dragon, getting arrows, potions, etc.

They surpsingly manage to find the Stronghold without any major problems, same thing with finding the portal and killing the dragon

The problem came when they had to get the egg

Everyone wanted to be the one to get the egg and put it in their house, and no one was willing to budge

Threats were made, from killing Mac's pets (of which she had many) to rearranging Veronica's figures in the middle of the night to Chandler threatening to make them all sleep on the floor

All of them insisted that they had put the most work and effort into the fight, and because of that they deserved to get the egg

Eventually Duke pulled out her axe and started attacking Chandler, and from there it turned into a free for all

Unbeknownst to everyone, Duke had known this was gonna happen and prepared Instant Harming 2 Arrows and a Power V Bow, which if you don't know deals a fucking whole lot of damage

Once everyone was dead she put their stuff in chests so it didn't despawn (she's not that evil), took the egg, and went go hide

They were all pissed at Duke, and she was not welcome in their bed that night

In the morning Veronica made scrambled eggs for breakfast

**Line Break**

When they next got on (which was not for a while, what happened at the end put a bad taste in all of their mouths), they began working on a plan to get the egg from Duke

They know she had a hidden base somewhere, and that was likely where she was keeping it, so one of them had to find a way there

They had Mac pretend to lose her sword in the End and have her convince Duke to make her a new one bc it was her fault that she lost her sword

After a bit of convincing Duke begrudgingly agreed, but only if Mac helped, which she agreed to

They went to the Nether to get some Netherite and grind xp, and eventually Duke brought Mac to her base bc she had a full Enchantment Table there

While there Mac looked around for the egg and couldn't find it, until she saw an Ender Chest and realized where the egg was

She quickly texted the other two about the latest development and they moved on to Plan B

Plan B was 'Just blow shit up'

After a while of getting TNT and Ender Crystals they went to Duke's base and threatened to blow it all up if she didn't hand over the egg

Duke said 'try me bitch' and oh boy did they ever

When they were done Duke's base was a giant crater in the ground and they took turns spawn killing her until she agreed to hand over the egg

Problem with that is Veronica, Mac and Chandler did not decide amongst themselves who would get the egg once they got it from Duke

So what happens when 3 heavily armed players disagree about something?

If you guessed beat the shit out of each other, you would be correct

When it was all said and done everyone was pissed off at each other bc all of their houses were blown up, loot destoryed, and Mac was crying bc her pets had gotten killed in the crossfire

From that point on there was a new rule in the Chandler-Duke-McNamara-Sawyer household, and that was that they played Minecraft separately, never together

On a separate but related topic, Veronica got really into Dream SMP and would watch the streams relentlessly

Her favorite was Technoblade, they both had the same sense of dry humor (She got really upset when he died)

She got super into the lore and would argue with people online about it

She joked with JD that he acted alot like Wilbur, to which JD said he was nothing like him, and that he only thought about lining the boiler room of Westerburg with explosives and didn't act on it, which made Veronica very concerned
