Oh, I didn’t know that.
I was listening to Gordon Lightfoot’s “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” on youtube, and browsing the comments several people mentioned …
Okay. The song is about the real sinking of the freighter the Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior in 1975. And there’s a line in the song:
“In the Maritime Sailor’s Cathedral,
The Church Bell chimed till it rang twenty nine times,
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald”
Which references something that the actual Maritime Church in Detroit did in honour of the ship’s crew. And I just found out in those youtube comments for his song that when Gordon Lightfoot died in May last year (2023), the Maritime Church rang those bells again, this time 30 times. Once for every man on the Edmund Fitzgerald, and once more for Gordon Lightfoot.
That’s … That is a memorial I would be proud to have earned. And proud to give. I do like that. A lot.
Apparently, the Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior also lit its beacon in honour of him.
Sorry. I’m having … extremely maritime sort of feelings over here. Songs and memorials, bells and beacons, and the ways we carry memory forward. That’s … that’s a good memorial. I like that.

Keeper -- a short comic about an angel meeting a robotic lighthouse keeper that doesn't know the world has already ended. Made in about 18 hours for a 24-hour 24-page* black and white comic challenge (that I arrived late to, ha.)
*the actual submission does not include the cover, which was created after the fact for this post.
This was a really great learning experience as someone who's... never really made a completed comic. I ended up really attached to the story by the end of the project (possibly due to all-nighter deliriousness lol) and ultimately am very proud of what I made. There are some things I'd still like to change, particularly text placement, but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge I've elected to leave it as is.

Be The Lighthouse
Dear High Performer,
Start your week powerfully with this week’s edition of Sunday Soar -
What I’m grateful for, the lesson I learned last week, and what I’m looking forward to this week.
Please forward this along to your friends.
What I’m grateful for
People are watching you.
Whether you realize it or not, people are observing the way you conduct your affairs.
There’s someone watching you right now who probably may never tell you...
But who has been inspired to succeed by following your example.
You’re better than you think.
Please don’t let the mistakes you’ve made overshadow the things you do right.
Don’t let self-doubt drown out your belief in yourself.
You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.
A lighthouse is any person who blesses, encourages, corrects, strengthens, or improves others.
Learn more here.

Lesson I learned last week
One reason people don’t take the steps that will take their lives to a new level is because...
They have allowed themselves to be overwhelmed by…
Distracting…
Irrelevant…
And unnecessary information.
Thinking is good.
Overthinking however can end things before they ever get a chance to develop.
Do you have a habit of overthinking things?
This is for you.
Watch the video here.

What I’m looking forward to
If you’re an aspiring thought leader, industry expert, consultant, coach, author, content creator, or passionate about making a difference…
And more importantly, if you want to transform your expertise into a thriving empire, then this is for you.
In a few days, registration will go live for you to sign up for the Build Your Expert Empire webinar...
Where I will teach you how to share and monetize your life experience, knowledge, wisdom, and advice you have for people.
If you’d like me to put you on the priority list (which comes with a special bonus)
Comment with the words ‘EXPERT’
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of Sunday Soar.
I would love to hear from you.
Please drop a comment.
Have a great week.
Much love to you and yours.
YOUR GREATNESS IS VERY SURE

Soooooo after the new details that have been revealed about Veilguard, how do we all imagine a Solavellan reunion is going down? Trapped in the fade together? Lighthouse makeout sessions? A very sad mural dedicated to his Vhenan? My brain is infested with new headcanons.

the lesson you get from the flashbacks of edwin and charles' deaths is that hate crimes are real and the suffering they cause had been getting overlooked for over a century.
that there's still people dying like that somewhere, and there's people, young people, that are going to die believing that they didn't matter.
