they're just. incredibly fucking stupid when they're together. it's like they lose every single skill they've ever had once they see each other. there's not a single interaction without giggling and you can tell they're genuinely having a great time which leads to AMAZING VIBES.

made SAHARA, played gold together in skirts, awesome dynamic, iconic, fought side by side, fought each other.

They are sososososo iconic. They were the best of buds during S6 and S7, they did so many shenanigans oh my gosh!!!!!! They are besties (S6-S7 is where you can see it the clearest, but also Iskall helped them cover up the Perimeter with Grian and Mumbo and a lot of other hermits, that has to count for something) They are business partners (Sahara, //which they made actual IRL merch for as well//) They perpetuated a running gag throughout the entirety of S7 (“get good lol” “I Got Good!” “OK LOL” “Get Gorgeous LOL” “FOR THE LOLS” <- all excerpts -the first one from their video titles) They fought on the same side of the Prank War together (Team-G, with Molebo Gumbo as a double agent against Team STAR) A ‘harmless’ curse of binding dragon head prank by Grian on Iskall caused the formation of the Dragon Bros. So many shenanigans. Hermit Challenges is the tip of the iceberg. I love them so much, they are my comfort trio PLEASE THEY ARE SO INCREDIBLY ICONIC LET THEM WIN. *cough* I mean, I am extremely and utterly normal about them :D

3 Heart Trio:

theyre soo silly theyre just silly little guys who do things like mining an entire chunk in the center of the server's spawn for their own entertainment and to annoy everyone else

They are PATHETIC. They are ANNOYING. They are PERFECT. They are playing on three hearts and they die so much. They have a specialized raid platform that is NOT a raid farm. They are a team against exploits! Their base has 3 hearts above it representing them

these guys decided to put love and fun above all on the killing-lying server. while watching other teams betray and fall apart they have stuck with each other till the very last day of the server and never doubted one another. they worked like a clockwork, they knew they could only rely on themselves and at the end of the day, they didnt mind that it was that way

these guys got the short end of the stick time and time again throughout all of lifesteal s4, they were the targets of so many traps and attacks for no reason other than they were weak and always around. and despite it all they never wanted revenge and never held grudges! they cared about fun and friendship more than anything else, and while all the other teams ended up falling apart or betraying each other, these three stuck together from start to end. they didn't care about how many hearts they had, how much gear they had, or how powerful they were, because in the end all they needed was each other <3 i miss them so bad btw

it reminded me of when i first got into hermitcraft, start of s6, read atus and then binged the evo smp, was into the fandom.

but by the end of s6 i kinda left the fandom? but was still v into hc, watched even more povs throughout s7 and s8.

see it's funny because i was actually HERE for some of these fandom shifts--grian with wings has been steadily more and more common and was already a big thing when i joined the fandom, but grian and scar is a direct fault of the life series (plus in season eight they then hung out a lot), as is some of grian's fanon personality. and like, if you weren't here for that, i totally get how it's a big shift! sometimes i read some fics from earlier fandom and am like. huh. that's a difference. but some things sort of stay the same!

I GET TO INTRODUCE SOMEONE TO THE WONDERS OF ETHO CONTENT SO HERE'S A POST.

i'm going to preface this by saying i adore Etho. i love him with my whole heart and soul actually. but i have also been watching his content for Literally A Decade so i have probably forgotten some of his classics. if i did, PLEASE CHIME IN!

with that disclaimer out of the way, onward! to the New Ethowatcher Primer Post™!

i think Etho is arguably best known for his Minecraft singleplayer let's play, but at the time i'm writing this post, he's uploaded 571 episodes. that's intimidating! so in my opinion, a good primer for this series is his episode 550 world tour. it's 2 years old at this point, but catching up on 21 episodes afterwards is nothing compared to almost 600, and gives you a great reference point for everything that's been accomplished in the world so far - and if you like the world tour enough, you can go back and watch from the beginning!

he was also a member of the Mindcrack SMP. Mindcrack was to people then as Hermitcraft is today; everybody wanted to be a member. a good place to start with his Mindcrack series is season 4. that being said, if you only want to watch a single episode, try episode 10 king of the ladder (the origin of "Ladders" as a nickname for Etho) or season 3 the trial ("why's he got chocolate on his knees?") for wacky hijinks, season 3 final tour for the builds he did that season, or season 4 end of season 4 for the same reason.

he is currently a member of Hermitcraft; due to personal reasons he had to stop uploading in the middle of season 8 and has uploaded only sporadically during season 9. therefore most people usually recommend his hermitcraft season 7 as the best place to start, and for good reason. he builds extremely weird shit (The Monstrosity my beloved), experiments with doing noteblock covers of popular songs, plays ridiculous amounts of Decked Out (trust me. his runs are so fun to watch), participates in a resistance even though he has no idea what's going on (him being a Lorephobe™ means i had no idea Hermitcraft did Lore™ until season 9), makes a business purely to scam people...it's a classic for a reason. oooooo you watch to watch Etho's Hermitcraft S7 so badddddd

he also does modded series occasionally! his project ozone 2 series is a CLASSIC and i highly recommend watching, specifically for Taxes (you'll find out), but also because it is SO enjoyable watching a man be incredibly technical about a modpack even though you have no idea what he's saying most of the time. (i fully zone out during full episodes of this series sometimes. but still rewatch it every couple of years or so. it's chill.)

his original terrafirmacraft series is also one i remember fondly. this modpack is essentially Minecraft, But Hard Mode; more realistic physics and crafting make things much more difficult for the player and it's super interesting, in my opinion. he was also doing a series in an updated/forked version of the pack, called terrafirmapunk, but iirc his world for that series was corrupted and he was unable to restore it, so he had to discontinue it. RIP Chester ):

his current modded series is a modpack he collated himself. unfortunately due to the personal issues mentioned above he's only uploaded a few episodes here and there, but he seems to be really enjoying it and hopefully once things stabilize a little more we'll get more episodes!

he's also building a PVP map in Minecraft! just...slowly. introducing battle bane! we get an episode approximately every year or two or four. he recently built a simplified version on the Hermitcraft server for their recent charity stream and they played a round at the end!

of course, you're always welcome to just...watch his stuff from the beginning if you're a weirdo completionist like me (/derog /j). however, be warned that he is (affectionately) known as Your Favourite Minecraft YouTuber's Favourite Minecraft YouTuber for a reason, and has been on the platform for almost a decade and a half at this point. his early content is therefore much different than his current content and sometimes hard for new watchers to enjoy. i really feel like he's hit his stride in terms of talking to viewers in the last five years and it's much easier to jump in on his newer content, BUT that's just my opinion. ymmv!

Team Canada is comprised of Etho, PauseUnpause, & VintageBeef. they're all, as you might be able to guess, Canadian! they all played together on Mindcrack as well as doing series together. some faves:

their sky factory 2.5 series is great. it's been awhile since i've personally watched it but their banter is always fantastic so i'm recommending it anyway.

watch them escape the Nether, but watch pause's video because it's unedited and you get the full experience that way.

i personally LOVED their capture the monument series back in the day. it's been long enough since i've watched them that i don't remember which one was my personal favourite, but here's the first episode of diversity 3 to see if it's up your alley anyway.

funnily enough, anon suggesting non-minecraft videos reminded me that he'd done terraria is EZ with Zisteau, another Mindcracker. i remember them having a lot of fun in that series so definitely give it a try!

Hello! I adore all your work to bits and have ever since about when you first posted chapter 43 of Casting Rain- and now I've found out that you're into my latest hyperfixation, Hermitcraft! Happy days! If I may ask, what got you into the fandom? What hermits- if any- do you prefer to watch?

I got into it (technically) through Sad-1st I think! I was into Hollow Knight at some point, and found Sad-1st's animations and artwork for it. Then they moved on to DSMP, and at first I couldn't follow that at all [Minecraft RP? That dramatic? That's a little cringe isn't it?] So I started watching Minecraft Manhunt instead. Then I saw the Techno vs Dream fight, started watching Techno. Got into DSMP via Techno's POV [I only ever made 1 or 2 fanarts for it. It was a very blink-and-you'll-miss-it fandom for me]. Then I was talking to some friends about getting into MCYT, to which one of them was like "HAVE YOU HEARD OF HERMITCRAFT."

I started watching Grian's S6, moved on to Grian and Scar's S7. By S8 I was watching Grian, Scar, Cub, Docm77, Rendog, Pearl, Impulse, and Mumbo.

Got obsessively into the Life!Series for a bit there, especially Etho.

Went through a period in S9 where I watched everyone's POV, because I watch a lot of videos while I'm drawing/filing paperwork at work and kept running out of stuff to watch. Got exasperated when the videos couldn't keep up with my consumption rate. Stopped watching so HC could catch up and I could binge it all later. At some point in time did the same thing for EmpiresSMP.

Now if YouTube suggests me a video I watch it and if it doesn't I just.... Wait. Until there's 3 or 4 videos I can watch in a row. Except for Etho, Fwhip and Joel, who I watch immediately.

Barely related but there's a MCYT JWhisp who I've also been watching since I first got into Minecraft Manhunt, who accidentally gave me my first impression of Fwhip, because I misspelled JWhisp's name once and got brought to a Fwhip Empires video instead, then got really affronted when I realized it was the wrong person. It's kinda funny to me that I ended up liking Empires as much as I did, about 6 months later, given my first brush with Fwhip was basically, "Who is this?? What the heck??"

Anyway all that to say I watch.... All of them pretty regularly. My preferences lie with Etho, Doc and BDubs right now I think? They're the ones I most reliably watch as soon as an episode comes out.

In my defence, I never really imagined the Jhost thing happening on Hermitcraft. I always figured that was more of a separate Joe Hills stream lore thing I guess? Because AFAIK it never actually affects the actual Hermitcraft videos? Idk, it makes sense in my head. But I assume that for the purposes of the poll that counts.

Especially since Doc losing his arm is much more obviously something that definitely didn't happen on Hermitcraft, even tho in my mind that's more canon than the Jhost since Doc still has the robot arm on Hermitcraft even though it predates him joining the server... but it didn't happen in Hermitcraft

But yeah, Scar fed the NHO to the alien thing or whatever in s6, the turf wars happened in s7, Herobrine shows up in the Area 77 plotline in s6, I don't remember the Renbob lore all that well but that hyperdrive thing def sounds like a thing that happened and I probably even watched it happen I just don't remember anymore. Grumbot got introduced in s7 and expanded upon in s9 (maybe also s8? I don't know, I heard he was in Ren and Doc's lore somehow but I didn't watch any of that), aaand I assume the rap battle is about Helsknight in s7. Oh yeah and also the house swap in s7 altho I mostly missed that plotline, or at least the details of it. I think I only watched Stress, Zed, Cleo and Joe at that point and not even all of them consistently, and I don't remember if any of those four ever actually explained what the story behind the house swap machine was. Because I don't remember any of that. I might have heard about it on the recap but I can't retain information that I've only heard on the recap lbr.

(I really lost motivation to watch Hermitcraft around the mayoral election (I hate election arcs as I've mentioned*), and stopped watching completely around when the turf war started; that's the whole reason why I originally got into the Dream SMP which was just starting to become popular around that time as I lost interest in Hermitcraft (temporarily))

* yes, there was also an election arc on DSMP, and in fact that very nearly made me quit watching it too, and I probably would have if the timeline had worked out even a little bit differently. I happened to be just far enough behind (as I was catching up) that by the time I made it to the election arc, in real time it was actually already over, so I was able to literally just skip the whole thing lmao. Just as I had gone "ew, election arc, I'm not watching any more of this" I heard that the election arc had actually ended in some kind of disaster and that piqued my interest just enough that I checked out the stream where Techno joins the server (as it had just happened) and... that got me properly hooked. It was the perfect timing.

Ren is so excited for this one, he was advertising Octagon in the beginning and enthusiastically commentating shdhhddh

I guess watching this also made me really appreciate Hermitcraft’s big minigame collabs— it’s probably my favourite part of their stuff. I just love hermits + minigames a lot; it’s part of why I liked S6 (minigames district) and why I got into MCC. It’s lovely to see them hang out and whack each other and just appreciate each other’s minigames <3

Games like Decked Out are amazing and iconic, but I have a very big soft spot for group games like Boom Box and Ravager Run. Especially because you get to see hermits who don’t collab often in the same vc. And if you add the bracket system (like for Boom Box and Leaf Spleef) it adds a layer to it because there will be more matchups. Also I love seeing a group of hermits together just having fun— no one really cares about the prize in the end. It’s about the experience.

To sum it all up, I adore big minigame collabs. I was gasping when I watched the POVs. And I also like the way each hermit only shows their POV and invites us to watch other hermits, and as the hermits gradually upload according to their schedule, more “pieces” of the event are revealed. And I like this slow rollout of content <3

So i never watched Evo but i’ve heard about the Watchers from fandom osmosis and i think i have enough knowledge to make some headcanons about Watcher!Grian and Watcher!Pearl. If any of this goes against canon Watcher info plz tell me. Anyways here we go!

So Grian was a human turned watcher and because of this his wings are very fluid. They change shape as Grian figures out who he wants to be for the season, so Chicken Grian in s6, Parrot Grian in s7, and Dragon Grian in s8 

Pearl is actually a very old watcher and was not originally human. Because of this her wings do not change they stay an opalescent silver color. However she can hide them at will, something Grian cannot do

Pearl and Grain met in Evo as Pearl was a scout sent by the watchers to see if Grian would be a good fit as a watcher in their ranks. They developed a friendship on that server. Pearl never really felt gulty about the fact that she was spying on Grian until the very end when he got turned.

They friendship fractured quite a bit after Grian became a watcher because of the betrayal Grian felt about his close friend only being there to spy on him. Eventually they managed to mend it but it never reached the same level of easy trust as it did when they were on Evo.

Grian never told Pearl that he was planning on running away. She found out after he had left and the other watchers were in a panic about him leaving. While she did search for him she didn’t try very hard, knowing that Grian never wanted to stay with the watchers

Grian hid in Hermitcraft after leaving the watchers. The Hermits, being ancient beings as old as the universe itself, had the ability to hide him from the Watchers all-seeing eyes. He didn’t actually know that the empty world that he was hiding in was the new world the Hermits were moving to, he just got really lucky or maybe the universe saw him and helped him who knows

Pearl stayed with the watchers for a while longer before eventually deciding to leave once she saw that Grian was still not found. 

She wasn’t trying to end up on the same world as him she just picked a random world that the watchers didn’t see to notice and jumped perhaps the universe also played a part in helping these two ex-watchers reunite

Grian was very surprised and a bit afraid when he saw Pearl climb out of that ravine. He had all but forgotten that he was on the run from the watchers and seeing one in the same world as him made him very nervous. However, he didn’t say anything as he was still hiding his identity form the Hermits

Pearl and Grian pretended that they didn’t know each other and that everything was fine when they were around others but as soon as they were along Grian questioned Pearl. Was she there to bring him in, how did she find him, are more watchers coming

Pearl was startled but not surprised the Grian didn’t trust her but she tod him that she wasn’t here to bring him back, no watchers were coming, she wasn’t trying to find him and just jumped into a random world, and that she was on the run just like him

The news that she wasn’t trying to apprehend him eased Grian’s nerves. He may not fully trust Pearl but he knows her enough to know that she’s not lying

The two of them eventually rekindle their close friendship, bonding over building, being ex-watchers, and the botem pole community

[ GRIAN : Witch of Time ] Looking through analysis of both aspects now, theres interestingly a lot of similarities between Breath and Time (whwhw maybe thats why June and Dave got along so well--) so either for Grian makes sense!

Tbh I went with time cuz red really is Grian's colour-- BUT also chose it for the words Time is associated with: Mechanical, Repetition, Masculinity, Destruction, Endings, Choice, Precision, Impatience -- Very very Grian-sounding /)-w-(\

Characteristics-wise like Time players (and Breath too!), Grian is constantly on the move. to quote the official Extended Zodiac I like this extract: "Those bound to the aspect of Time are fighters, full stop. Their lives are often marked by struggle, not so much because fate has it in for them, but because they are fundamentally incapable of just accepting things as they come. They value action over passive acceptance, even if that may not be the wisest or safest choice." He's annoyingly stubborn but he's determined!

The whole thing with Time also fits comfortably with Grian's lore in both Hermitcraft and the Life Series - having evidence to canonically time travel in both universes: >HERMITCRAFT: Direct connections with S7 and S9 Grumbot. In a way, the machine in the S8 finale - potentially (well my hc) connecting with S9 also, the subtle mentions for Boatem across Grian and the other Boatem Crew in S9. Straight-up just the whole concept of Grian wanting to use architecture from different eras of history on his S9 build saying it came from the Rift that He made/came out from. >LIFE SERIES: Watcher Lore and the whole theory of the life cast being stuck in a time loop each season because of Grian.

Which segways to his class as a Witch: "One who Manipulates Time", manipulates the ending for himself. A good example of this being Watcher!Grian actively blowing up Scott in Last Life - but also his win in 3rd Life, and in a way him indirectly controlling the fate of the final soulbound pair in Double Life because of the rules he made up "<grian> there can only be one winner". All in all even if his Watcher self made up the rules, Grian (in game) is rebellious to break them: >3RD LIFE: Him choosing to remain allies with a red life (Scar) when he's still on green. >LAST LIFE: The lengths he was willing to go to drag himself out of red life. Eg: threatening to throw Scar in a Death Loop if he didn't give him and Joel a life. >DOUBLE LIFE: Him rejecting his soulbound fate with Scar (damn there's a lot of Scar in these) by having a secret soulbound with someone else (BigB).

What is Grian lore and where the hell do I start with it? I’ve been watching s7 of hermitcraft and I had no idea there was lore,,,,,,

Grian has been involved in... a.. LOT.. of series. So Grian Lore is a combination of three (or four if you’re able to stomach one but i refuse to talk about it) Minecraft roleplays, and one SMP before Hermitcraft.

Grian, the Minecraft persona, has a LOT of lore because of all this so..

Yandere: A prequel series to Yandere High School. Grian is 6-7 in preschool because his parents were having a divorce and,, uh. just sent him to Japan and didn’t wanna deal with him

Yandere High School: Grian comes back to Japan, to visit his friends Sam and Taurtis. He promptly gets scared off but agrees to come back for Halloween, against his better judgment. He comes back for Halloween, and it is then that Sam stabs Taurtis. In disbelief and refusal to admit what he’s done, he forces Grian to dress up as Taurtis. Sam makes him eat plastic, and says “if you’re not taurtis, you’re nothing!” and basically spends days calling Grian worthless and a disappointment. Meanwhile, Grian doesn’t know if the real Taurtis is alive or dead. During this time he’s also threatened at knifepoint whenever he says he’s not Taurtis.

A lot more happens in Yandere High School, Tokyo Soul (Season 2) and Yandere (Prequel), but in short some events include: -Being held hostage in Japan by his two childhood friends -His parents abandoning him basically since the age of 6 -Dating a non-binary fortune teller cryptid lad for a while and gets in a knife fight for them -Joined a gang -Was forced to become the identity of someone else Sam attacked and actually killed -Haunted by the ghost of Sam and Taurtis’ dead teacher that tried to hang them -Kills like. Four people -Joined witness protection program with the other two (+ Dom. Dom’s awesome). Was shipped off to the wrong country but Sam made him come back -Said he’s “more into dudes” because of his escapade with Ellen, the non-binary datemate of his from the previous season -Sacrificed someone to like a ghost or demon or something that was possessing a costco -Got possessed by a demonic book -Helped cause the end of the world -Became an immortal, unkillable entity with him, Taurtis, and Sam being the only survivors of the destruction of their world. Spared by Cthulu, who Taurtis’ rejected clone had summoned, they were gifted immortality and their house floating on a chunk of land remains the only proof of life in their universe.

And then there’s EVO.. which is an SMP that Grian started previous to being invited to Hermitcraft. It started in like,, basically, the earliest version of Minecraft that allowed servers to be created.

Entities called Watchers left clues around the world that would lead the Evolutionists to a portal to go to a newer version of Minecraft. After around,, 50ish episodes I believe, when the Evolutionists got to the update when the End was added, they went to attack the dragon. Grian was separated from the rest of his friends and had to defeat the dragon by himself. When he hopped through the portal, he joined the ranks of the Watchers and that was his departure from Evo. Joining the ranks of the demi-god like creatures.

🐱 Who was your first hermit?

This gets a little complicated but... as a hermit, Grian. As just a MCYT, Bdubs.

🐰 Who is your favourite hermit?

This is a hard question but... I have to say Etho (yes I admit it I'm an Ethogirl)

🐼 Who is one hermit you haven't watched yet but want to?

Joe - everything I see about him is so unique and hilarious but so far I haven't really gotten into his videos. Maybe someday, though!

🐸 What year did you start watching hermitcraft?

Okay, let's do the story now. In early 2019 I was watching some of Grian's building videos and stumbled onto his Hermitcraft series, which I started watching, got hooked on, and gradually started watching more and more hermits. I was really excited when Bdubs came back towards the end of S6 because I had watched him way back in Attack of the B-Team days, and at some point I learned that he had been in S5 so I went back and watched that. The videos were so familiar and I realized I had seen them before... I had watched his S5... so basically I was watching Hermitcraft before I knew it was Hermitcraft! I only watched Bdubs then, though, and had no idea what was going on on the rest of the server so I consider S6 to be when I started watching Hermitcraft.

🐵 What season did you watch first?

Season 6! I watched Grian's series from the beginning and caught up to episodes being currently released right around the time of the Civil War.

🐧 What is your favourite season?

Season 7! The Head Games, Hermit challenges, HWF, the Button, Boomers, Shade-E-E's, the mayoral race, Turf War, Decked Out, the Upside Down, HCBBS, Sewer Cats, Aque Town... so much good stuff!

🐝 What is your favourite hermitcraft moment?

Man, it's hard to choose, but I think my favorite moment(s) were Etho's meetings with Llama Dad in S7. They were so funny and the Etho and Beef vibes are impeccable.

🦝 Do you watch any streams?

A few! Mostly I watch Tango's Phasmo and stabby streams, and MCC (usually False).

🍂 How many hermits are you subscribed to on YouTube?

18 (70% of them!)

🍄 Do you only watch hermitcraft content, or do you watch their other videos too?

I watch other videos too! I watch just about all the videos of the hermits I'm subscribed to: Traffic series, Empires, Building with Bdoubleo, Naked and Scared, and Etho's singleplayer and modded series are all amazing!

You bet! All three of them have been some of my favorite series ever.

🌕 What is your favourite hermitcraft build?

Scar's magical village in S7: the amount of detail was incredible and it truly felt magical. Plus it was only his starter base?!

No, I would be too scared! I'm a perfectly average Minecraft player and I would be very intimidated by all the talented Hermits.

I would love to team with Pearl! She could teach me some building skills and we could do some shenanigans together, plus she seems super nice.

I noticed on Slime's Wormman art that their Zed had robot parts, plus it was mentioned that Zed occasionally joined in on Hermit Debug week as of recent, so when/how did Zed get these robot parts? Or just give Zed headcanons in general! :P

I was actually really really hoping somebody would notice that I gave Zed little robotic face plates so first, thank you for noticing my lidl details :D. Secondly I’m gonna just ramble bout my Zedaph headcanons because oh boy oh boy do I have….a lot. This will tie into my Team ZITS backstory headcanons by the way, as this is Zed’s part of the story. I’ll cover Tango’s if I ever get asked about it don’t worry.

Origin

Zed, like Mumbo, is a robot. Now, the thing about this is Zed doesn’t actually know this. He and Mumbo are similar in a lot of their design, actually, as they were made by the same person, Zed being made after Mumbo. The biggest difference is Mumbo was scrapped early, so he was fully aware he was a robot, but Zed was fully finished and thus had this knowledge hidden from him. Zed isn’t a Redstone robot in the same way that Mumbo is.

When he first woke up, he was alone in a survival world, or, he thought he was alone. The only friend he had for a while was a little brown sheep that he met in his first few minutes of proper existence. He didn’t even really know who or what he was at this time, and was actually just walking around shirtless for a while. 

He was eventually found and given shelter by another Player, which, he didn’t think there were other Players in this world. Turns out, said Player is Skizz. He lets Zed stay with him and asks about his life, and Zed admits that he knows… nothing about his life. He has no memory of anything before this world, and Skizz assumes maybe it was a glitch or something when Zed spawned in. Whatever the case, at least he has a roof over his head now.

At some point, the two gently shear the sheep Zed had found, and used the wool to create Zed’s sweater, the buttons ended up being a bunch of mix matched colors and shapes, but Zed likes it.

Eventually, the two go to the End and find Impulse. Zed can quickly detect that Impulse is speaking Galactic and begins translating so Skizz can understand what he’s saying.

(From this point, everything lines up with the Impulse headcanons I gave a while ago.)

Moonlight SMP

While in Moonlight SMP, Zed created a superhero alter ego, aka Wormman. He would supposedly retire this persona for a few years. This comes back later which is why I mention it now.

Hermitcraft Backstory

When Zed showed up on Hermitcraft, he traveled by portal. There was an accidental glitch and… well Wormman manifested. 

Zed pretty much just kinda chills until he inevitably does meet Wormman, and is very confused by the fact that his alter ego is his own person. He rolls with it though, and just kind of accepts that yeah Wormman exists

Also Zed can split timelines. Nobody ever really discusses this fact, but he did do this once in S5. 

Nothing truly eventful happens to Zed in season 5, at least, in terms of backstory, but Wormman on the other hand, is left in the S5 world after the world ends. This is awful because the S5 world is basically cursed and got completely overtaken by the jungle, which means Wormman… yeah you can figure out what happened. 

He gets out though! He kinda… lost his soul, and got possessed by death due to this. Thus Zedeath was born. When he showed up on Hermitcraft 6, Zed did not realize that Zedeath is the same person as Wormman

Again there isn’t really anything backstory wise that’s too important until S7 because that’s when Zed accidentally learns that he is a robot. 

He glitched one day in the first half of the season(probably around November), didn’t entirely know why. He calls Tango over to help, since Tango can access the code, and Tango can’t entirely figure out what’s wrong. He calls Impulse over, and Impulse recognizes that Zed’s code is extremely similar to Mumbo’s, almost identical.

This leads the two of them to realizing Zed is a robot. Now how do they prove that this is true? Well, they remember that Mumbo’s synthetic skin came off when he tried out the uh… I don’t remember the name of it but the spookificating thing that was in the Shopping District.

So Zed pretty much goes into that, and when he comes out it is revealed that he is in fact a robot, and he looks almost identical to Mumbo in basic design(like the chest cavity, the location of the metallic plates, etc…). Zed basically has a breakdown about this because he doesn’t know if his feelings are real or not. 

He ends up asking Mumbo how he copes with the fact that he’s a robot, and they kinda have a sweet little heart to heart about it, and Zed comes out of it being mostly comfortable with the fact he’s a robot. He gets new synthetic skin, but he leaves certain areas uncovered so he can see the metallic bits. He wants to love that part of himself.

This is around the time that Zed starts taking part of the debug weeks. 

And this is basically all for the in universe “lore” stuff. Other important thing is that Wormman/Zedeath has been using Zed’s Void hole to reach Ex in the Void.

General/Other

Zed has pointy ears, he doesn’t know why he was designed with them, but he honestly doesn’t mind. For the longest time it made him think maybe he was some kind of hybrid.

Zed’s eyes glow purple, and so does his robot chest cavity. He doesn’t really know what causes it to glow purple

Zed, being a robot, has a very close relationship with any contraption or mechanism he builds, especially after he learns he’s a robot. 

He doesn’t actually need sleep, which is why the other Hermits won’t really try to force him to sleep the same way they will with Impulse and Tango. 

Being a robot means that Zed can’t handle the Void without dying particularly faster than other Hermits(again save for Mumbo because robots :D). 

Zed is chubby. Fight me. 

His hair is really soft

Wormman/Zedeath Headcanons

Wormman is a clone of Zedaph’s memories, not Zedaph himself. As in, Wormman is not a robot, where as Zed is. Wormman is memories from when Zed thought he was an organic being rather than mechanical. Wormman has every memory that was created while Zed wore the costume. This actually means Wormman has two birthdays, but he considers his true birthday to be the day he became his own person, rather than, when Zed first wore the costume. 

Zedeath and Wormman are the same person. Wormman is technically soulless after being abandoned in season 5 and things….happening to him. He could never really die, though, and the closest he came to death accidentally turned him into Zedeath, which is why his first (and only) s6 appearance was as Zedeath instead of Wormman.

Wormman currently resides under the server with Evil Xisuma/Abyss. Wormman had talked to him at some point in S6 while he was still Zedeath, and even then Abyss probably realized who he was. Since then, Wormman built a platform under Zed's base, and there he and Abyss live. It's not much, just the two of them. Although BadTimes vomits occasionally.

Zedeath no longer really comes around. Maybe it's because whatever caused him to exist moved on to Ren during Demise, maybe he came back and Wormman just doesn’t know.

Zedeath isn’t even that scary, he’s just a mischievous soul(or lack there of)

This is not my first Fic in general, but it is my first Hermitcraft Fic. This was inspired by one of the @detroitbecomemerlin drawings! It also has many, many headcanons from them, and other people. This does take place in S6, just because when I was brainstorming, I couldn’t think of anything for S7. Enjoy!

Grian was having trouble taking off with his rockets at the moment. Well really, he was having trouble with everything that day. He didn’t feel that good, but he had a lot of important stuff that he needed to get done, so he couldn’t afford to take the day off. When he finally got some air, he flew to Sahara for a meeting with Mumbo and Iskall about their new Sahara Now system. As he flew in through the never fixed hole in the wall, he saw that he was the first one there... again. He sat down in his chair and laid his head down on the table. Soon, he just drifted off to sleep as he waited.

He felt a nudge on his shoulder and someone gently shaking him awake.

“Hm?” He said quietly, finally waking up.

“You fell asleep waiting for us, you spoon!” Iskall said jokingly.

“Oh, uh, sorry. So... I guess let’s get the meeting started?” Grian said, but his voice lacked his usual cheeriness.

“Yep! So Iskall and I are about half done with the redstone, and once that’s done, you can build the fancy stuff and make it look cool!”

Mumbo went on talking to Iskall about redstone components and transportation systems, all stuff that Grian didn’t understand one bit of, so he decided to just turn off his hearing aids and look at the parrots. He liked watching them dance, the repetitive movements were calming, no sudden changes. That’s when he realized that something was off. Not the parrots, the parrots we completely fine. He felt warm, like, really warm.

He was contemplating telling the other two that he wasn’t feeling right, but before he could make a decision, Mumbo tapped on the table to get his attention.

Grian turned his hearing aids back on. “Sorry about that guys,” he said with a small smile. But the others didn’t smile back like normal.

“You feeling fine? You don’t look so good...” Iskall said in a concerned tone.

“No, I’m fine!” He lied, “I just zoned out the parrots, that’s all.”. Grian could see that they didn’t believe him one bit. He tried to get out of it though.

“I think this meeting over, we went over everything. I’ll see you guys later!” He said as he tried to take off. He got air the first rocket, and flew out of Sahara, but ended up crashing into the Tango statue (ok, I am not even joking, I re-watched like five different episodes just to get the direction right 😂). Mumbo and Iskall ran after him to see if he was ok.

Once they got there, Mumbo put the back of his hand on Grian's forehead. “Goodness me! Grian, why didn’t you tell us! You’re hotter than the nether in the middle of summer!”. Grian tried to protest, but when he stood up and tried to speak, everything started spinning, and then it went black.

-Eldritch Monster AU! Hermits are all Lovecraftian horrors who all individually decided that they wanted to pretend to be normal and are all trying to hide their otherworldliness. I also feel like Mumbo or X or someone as the one actually "normal" player on the server would work well. Most hermits don't know that everyone else isn't normal either, but some find out about friends maybe.

-Rabid Debate Club AU :: Random weird au idea where it's basic hs/uni au but like two of them try to start a debate club, then invite some friends just so there's enough people; cut to like two months later, it's all the hermits just fighting over whether or not pineapple should go on pizza or not lol it isn't very good i'm sorry but ya know rabid debate club AU.

-Animal/shapeshifting AU :: (Suggested Twice.) Every hermit can shapeshift into one token animal. (If it's something like "dog," they can only turn into one breed and color of dog, EXAMPLE: doc can shift into a black sable belgian malinois, but not anything else.)

-Wedding Planners AU :: Hermits work in various unrelated businesses such as a bakery, flower shop, etc., but see each other semi-often bc they're semi-often called upon to work together by another hermit's wedding planning business (obvs if you couldn't tell i know absolutely nothing abt wedding planning & businesses n shit lol but it's the /concept/ of it yannknow)

-Avatar: The Last Air Bender AU. (Suggested Thrice.)

-Adventure Time AU :: The hermits live in a post-apocalyptic world and the Lich (bad guy) is making everything decay. They need to gather all the gems (belt colours) to unlock the Enchiridion (a book) and have one wish each granted from Prismo (multiverse wish granting dude) before the Lich does. Only 4 elements can enter the multiverse: Slime (The Lich & Jevin), Redstone (Tango or Mumbo?), Ice (Stress), and Dirt (Grian, much to his dismay). Only the elementals can see the book. Grian's the protagonist with his sidekick Scar. He originally started collecting the belts because they were shiny but eventually decided to read the book and find out what they were for when Scar said he didn't see it. Doc, False, and Iskall are major obstacles because they don't believe the book exists.</p>

Like Wels is from the mediveal/dark era, Mumbo is from 1890-1920's, Iskall is from 2030, TFC is from 2020(?), Cleo is from 2130, etc!!! Like the mobs/animals became feused with humans, is when the mob players came from.

-Star Trek AU :: Like maybe they could be on one ship and each have different roles like engineers or doctors? I don’t know if this has been suggested but hope you enjoy! - 🐦

-Magic AU :: Magic exists and all the hermits have powers. They can also summon a weapon but what that weapon is depends on the hermit. I'm thinking it'll take place in a sort-of Demise 2 in S7 with a big war. So far I've got: Grian - Cloning himself to his different personas (each has a different power). Xisuma - Making barriers, teleporting, and transforming into different mobs. Scar - Making mutant plants & boosting other hermits' attack & health. (-@datsaltyperson.)

-Demon AU :: Something enters the overworld and turns into a supernatural style-demon through Dimentional Distortion. Who gets posessed first, who goes crazy, and who actually kills it? Honestly I think that, if anything, Tango would know how to gank it, for obvious reasons. (-@fireflower-dusk.)

-High Street AU :: Everyone owns a different shop on the same street or some run a shop together (-@violets-arepurple.)

-Cat AU :: Either they're were always cats, or Hels turned everyone, including himself, into a cat, and they have to survive and overcome challenges in the Season 7 world. An example of a challenge would be Cub's a Sand Cat(the cats that always look like kittens no matter how old they are and live in deserts), and everyone's not sure if he can actually swim, so they have to find a way for him to get around without involving water. -How about a secret AU.. Every hermit has their big secrets and when Grian joined. He doesn't really know anything about those secrets even till season 7. Not many hermits talked to him in S6 anyway.. Mumbo was the closest to him so they would have regular chats For Iskall is mostly business related things Grian wants to know why so he set out on a quest to force the others to at least talk to him so he wouldn't be lonely. -Hermit Family AU :: Xisuma is very busy dad but when he isnt busy the kids and younger hermits annoying the hell out of him. Grian once asked to use Xisuma's computer and crashed the whole thing trying to download illegal gamesites and get money off the internet. Mumbo and his trains run through the entire house and Xisuma trips on them daily. (-@gamerutx.)
