Forcing my two ultimate faves to interact by thinking about how Silver would definitely be interested in biology and the natural sciences because many original ecosystems wouldn't have been able to survive in a world dominated by fire.

In the future he was very interested in history and had to rely on books to learn about anything that came before, but whilst visiting the past he explores and follows field guides in his free time because now he can experience it all for real. Enter Knuckles, who is the most qualified person he knows to teach Silver all about the unique biomes of the world.

At first it just starts out as Silver visiting Angel Island every so often to ask questions and compare notes in his field guide with what Knuckles has seen, which Knuckles enjoys. An excuse to talk about his adventures with a genuinely interested party and they end up bonding really quickly over it. Until Knuckles gets tired of talking about books (and not all of them are correct) so he says fuck it, you can't learn everything from a book and starts taking Silver on forays into the world and shows him everything he dreams to see - ruins reclaimed by nature, entire ecosystems existing on a single type of tree, underwater worlds hidden by algae and sediment.

A week and a half later, Steve entered a town he’d never seen before. He wore simple traveling clothes and carried no weapons aside from a couple of carefully hidden knives. He’d left his armor and shield behind. His satchel held only the essentials one needed for travel and a single stone as large as his fist. The stone was wrapped in layers of cloth to keep it safe during the journey. 

I need you to find someone. 

He felt very bare but he hadn’t been given much of a choice. Speed was of the essence for his quest, and little no-name towns tended to be wary of strangers in plain clothes, even more so around strangers decked out for battle. Steve wasn’t sure this place could be called a town. It was so small it hadn’t been on any official map. It didn’t even have an inn. Hopefully, Steve wouldn’t be needing an inn once he found who he was looking for.

He’s too far from me to reach.

He asked around, laying on the charm generously. He explained he had been a friend of a friend and had been trusted to deliver something. Eventually, he was told where to go. The house he found far beyond the village’s boundary was small. It looked like it had once been well cared for but it was old and had fallen to disrepair. Steve took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

A sallow old man opened the door. He was bald but had some scruff on his face still. His shoulders, stooped from age, trembled. His eyes were bloodshot. He looked so tired.

He’s my very last worshiper in all the world.

“Wayne Munson?” Steve asked.

“Who wants to know?” The man’s voice was phlegmy and rough. He coughed into the crook of his elbow almost before he could finish speaking. 

“I’m Steve. Ser Steve Harrington, pledged to the Lord of Night.”

Wayne’s eyes widened. His grip on the open door weakened and slipped. Steve caught the door before it could hit Wayne.

“He sent me to you,” Steve explained. “May I come in?”

oh my god, I'm so glad you mentioned the "steals your girl" thing as to why people hate on Zote even as a joke, it still weirds me out! stop talking about her like that!!!

RIGHT. The entire argument makes me seethe and spit and snarl so bad. Like I'm coming from a Zote bias perspective, but the way that whole thing frames Bretta too is literally. So Gross.

She was never "yours." She is not a got damn possession to be lost. Her romantic interest in Ghost is never even implied to be anything other than one-sided, mostly because Ghost just. Doesn't Emote.

And the whole "stealing" shit makes it seem like Zote flirted with her or pursued her romantically literally at all, when we get Nothing to support that other than Bretta's fanfiction, which I would take with a huge helping of salt. All we ever see Zote do is tell her his precepts. Like. Lol

Bretta forming a crush on him is a Her thing. Based on him lying a whole lot about how cool he is, sure, but nothing we're given suggests he did it specifically to win romance out of her or "take" her from Ghost. Someone who. Again. Didn't. "Have" her to begin with.

I don't think Zote even knows or cares about any of that. Per Precept Thirty. But that's just me and my aroace Zote headcanon. I Guess. Kicks a rock.

Anyway hey HK fandom stop treating Bretta like a trophy to be won that Zote "made off" with. You're all annoying. God bless.
