miguel o'hara── a study in security
it's really funny how most of my finals this quarter have me reading so many pieces that relate with the fics i'm writing and the characters i have brainrot over. i'm reading chapter 6 of eva illouz's book, "why love hurts," and the section about how love and security can't always co-exist hit me... because that is exactly how miguel o'hara regulates his life and shapes his influence within the spider-society.
"Security is often seen as incompatible with passion, or even as leading to its demise. But I would argue that this need for “security” and/or for “adventure” is not an invariant constituent of the psyche; or if it is, then security and adventure take on changing shapes in different cultural structures. They are also outcomes of the social organization of the psyche. Security derives from the capacity to control and to predict one’s environment; adventure, by contrast, derives from feeling challenged, either in one’s social identity or in the ways in which one knows how to do things." (Illouz, 219).
rewatching atsv and i notice just how locked and authoritative miguel runs his facility. micromanaged down to the knick-knacks hobie swipes. the differences in lighting and color theory with how miles & the gang associate with different spider-people, being lit in white and warm shades... then we meet miguel and he is in pitch dark with reddish and deep blue undertones. his character design is similar to the spot, where the sketch design is still visible amidst the rendering and coloring. this color palette carries with him and it sucks all his interactions in with it. from berating gwen after miles escapes to watching archival footage of his daughter, it's so deeply rooted that breaking out of that sphere will quite literally destroy what little he already has left and what he managed to preserve.
the man is STRESSED. we see that from his design to his dialogue. he believes he is single-handedly keeping the multiverse together and he expresses it multiple times. he thinks he can't have comfort and duty at the same time, believing that is what it means to be spider-man. it takes away his humor too, pointed out by peter b. when he says all spider-men are supposed to be funny. the only time he really shows any sort of wit is when he interacts with lyla and maybe jess, but even then, it's so dry and sarcastic. (save his interaction with baby mayday bc that man is also a father.)
but he's "okay" with this great responsibility. this is his security because it's what he's able to control when once, he wasn't able to control anything and it left him so badly wounded that it isolated any possibility of change or evolution for the order of things. when miles left, he shouted, "ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS LISTEN!" and then a softer, almost baffled and frustrated, "why didn't he listen...?"
illouz talks about how visual stimulations or even the presence of something we can hear or see can shape or crush the way we look at ourselves.
Research on the impact of media images on how individuals perceive their bodies suggests that images of perfect bodies have negative effects on self-esteem and self-concept because watching these images suggests to people both that others can achieve them more easily (competitiveness) and that others view them as important (normative legitimacy). Media images thus become a source of disappointment through the implicit mediation of what we think they say about others’ expectations of us and about their achievements compared to ours. Widespread images of love may instill ideas that others achieve love when we do not, and that achieving love is normatively important for successful life. (Illouz, 220).
hobie mentioned it before we officially meet miguel. he says miles seemingly has it alright with his parents and stable family life. and someone like miguel, who keeps a watchful eye over everything that goes on with spidermen, knows that. and he's jealous of it, i would argue. he believes as spider-man, there is a required sacrifice or weight of loss to carry.
while it is a very recurring trope with every iteration of spider-man that's been watched or read, miles has felt loss and loneliness. but he hasn't felt it in the way miguel has because what miguel went through is so singular and unique to him. the only ones who may understand what that would feel like would be gwen or even pav, seeing their dimension and/or livelihood beginning to crumble.
but miles has everything... and is also spider-man and i just know that burns miguel. it's not what he believes should be the order of the "spider-man journey," even though happiness and responsibility can and has worked together. example, peter b. and his daughter.
it's inconceivable for miguel to think something or someone can deny him or run the other way. because everyone is primed to understand that it's his way or quite literally, the destruction of everything. nobody can suggest another way. nobody can say no. aside from the doomsday vibes, miguel is also objectively scary when he’s genuinely angry. not even irritated or annoyed. irate. he’s also colossal. he’s mr. property damage. this need for control and this ability to maintain it under his thumb fuels his antagonistic relationship with anomalies or things he sees as a threat to his security. he doesn't like to be challenged, he likes to be listened to because he knows how the multiverse works and what can come out of it if even a single spider-person has a foot out of line.
and with all the hints left over at the end of the film of how miguel may be wrong, that there is a way to fix the multiverse while protecting the people they love, there will be some serious fractures to his security and everything will open up once again.

AtSV Anarchism
So, hate to break to you lib superhero fans. The concept of a superhero is almost always inherently anti-establishment/anti-authority/anti-state. Spiderman is literally persecuted by the police and media because he does not answer to the powers that be, and you root for him because that's what enables him to truly be a good guy. Miguel O'Hara is a Spiderman that has forgotten what is important about being Spiderman. He thinks he's boiled it down to these superficial ideas. Bitten by a spider. Lost a loved one. Lost a mentor after fighting a nemesis. Etc. Etc. But that has nothing to do with what makes Spiderman, Spiderman. And everyone keeps telling him that. Spiderman lives around your block, he knows what you're going through, because so is he. Spiderman is funny, because someone has to brighten the mood to keep everyone going. Spiderman is the good guy, struggling to do it all, and is destroyed when he can't, because that's what keeps him good. The day Spiderman accepts the losses is the day he stops being Spiderman. O'Hara, in the name of the greater good, has forgotten all of that in favor of the superficial, which he wears as a badge of authority to do "what has to be done." Spider-Punk, an anarchist even in art-style, sees this plain as day. He has built a healthy habit of questioning when someone can't give him a satisfying explanation, and only sticks around Miguel's glorified Secret Police to plant a bomb in the perfect place at the perfect time. Hobie's intervention gives Miles and Gwen the tools and position to defy Miguel and find a better way. In a sea of Spidermen all giving up, how is just one supposed to make a difference?
Exactly like Hobie did. It takes only one to start.

WEEWOO WEEWOO i finally watched spiderman across the spider-verse and i have some THOUGHTS-
i’ve been avoiding spoilers so like i am probably not the first one with these thoughts but here we go:
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
- we all know; miguel o’hara = hot as fuck
- BUT everytime hes on screen the music that was played sounded very similar to the vibe of the prowlers theme in the first movie. coincidence? i dont think so👀
-EVERY spider was shown having doubts about their position. they ALL doubted their stance when miles said ‘we’re supposed to be the good guys’ everyone BUT miguel
- WHAT IF miguel isnt actually his universes spiderman
- WHAT IF miguel is ACTUALLY his universes KING PIN
HEAR ME OUT-
- when hes introduced he says ‘i am not like the other girls- spidermen’ while he is LITERALLY injecting himself with some typa green liquid??? like tf is that????
- maybe that shit actually gives him those spidey powers BUT do we actually ever see him like sticking to a thingie upside down or anything? he is always upright and he doesnt have the spidey stickiness
- he only gets like feral kinda and even his webs are like gleaming red??? and his mask is like SUPER evil and as pointed out by dad peter (aka nick miller) HE ISNT FUNNY
-Literally ALL of the spiders have some kinda funny thing or like cool power
- this man only has vampy teeth (hot) and is fast??? and like has these elbow slashes like???? he has nothing unique like all the other spiders.
- like gwen has her entirely different colours scheme and her ballet movements or the british one (kill me i forgot his name but i LOVED this guy) has his punk and guitar, fuck anarchy thing. like all of them have smth thats their thing but all of miguels traits are like super evil and sussy as fuck…
- AND he was SUCH a dick to miles. any actual spidey would NEVER be such a prick to another spider EVER- my guy is afraid of miles and wanted to break him down which brings me to the motive…
- idk what his plan is but he might know that miles can/ will be his doom. OR he knows that one of the spiders might find out and kill him so he makes this elaborate web of lies (pun intended) about these canon events and like scares everybody into thinking they have to just let these bad things happen when in reality he is just looking for this control. this might be a bit far fetched BUT IDK WHO KNOWS the writers lol
that motive thing i am not so sure about but i am certain hes afraid of what miles can do and will do cuz he is acting like a racoon trapped in a trashbag (shoutout to taylor tomilson lol) and gaslighting everybody onto his side…
then theres his alleged backstory;
- he went to a different universe to live his dream life and conveniently that universes miguel DIES????? MMMMHMMMM and u expect me to believe that mr sexy o’hara????
- he literally did what king pin tried todo in the first movie- and it failed
- thing is WHAT IF it failed not because he just went there and took his place BUT because he killed off that other daddy miguel
- what if the universe just collapsed cuz he went there and actually changed the entire universes future by killing this other miguel????
honesty its like 1am and i watched the movie like 5 hours ago so all this might not make sense. BUT I BADLY NEEDED TO TALK ABT THESE THOUGHTS- again i am for sure not the first one i just really need to speak this into the void lol
PLS if anybody wants to geek out over this movie PLEASE dm me i am BEGGING YOU i so badly wanna talk abt it cuz i love it SO MUCH

i dont blame you for not remembering. most likely because you may not have even realised it was said since the word butt was said in spanish. plus it was a pretty quick scene something you would have missed if you werent listening to it carefully so i cant blame you tbf because i did the same aswell dhdhdn
i saw an interesting theory i wanted to share with you because i thought it was pretty cool. but isnt it funny how miguel calls miles an "anomoly" for disrupting canon events when he doesnt even abide by them himself ? i mean, he didnt get his powers from a bite, he never lost an uncle, and he never befriends a police officer
i dont know i just thought it was pretty cool
not to mentions the absence of silk in this movie. miguel HEAVILY mentions that there can only be ONE spider-man per universe, so what about silk ? silk was bit by the very same spider that bit parker and the two have been living in the same universe for ever since dhdhdh
i heard someone theorise that since the spider woman film will be featuring silk, shell be playing a MAJOR role and especially considering that it will build off the second movie, atsv, and not the final, btsv
i hope you dont mind me sending in asks its just fun to have someone to talk to ehe
okay so i was thinking about this and then i failed to drive a car and also was packing but i am now in an answering position
basically uh... i think the reason for this is that miguel is wrong. now this is just a theory on my end i just think the point is supposed to be that the spidermen have their similarities and they all share a few things but in the end by reducing their stories down to one line, one canon, it destroys them too in a way because it makes all the spidermen the same
so naturally there's not always going to be one spiderman per universe, there's not going to be one spiderman in every universe even i bet. like i mean there's certain events i can see as happening way more times than average since like for example, the uncle/close figure dying inspires spiderman to be a hero yknow. but i think something as specific as like this one guy getting crushed by a building is like way too much of a coincidence to happen to every single spider person.
anyways that might not have made sense. tl;dr i think that may be what's going on with silk. also the hypocrisy is kinda funny. like yeah dude keep going on about the canon. you don't follow it

DONT LOOK CLAIRE SPIDERVERSE SPOILERS
i like the little running jokes they had in atsv. like how miles was so proud of the red stripes running down his new suit in his intro at the beginning of the movie but every person who sees them is like "why does it look like ur bleeding from ur pits. ur suit sucks lol" WITHOUT FAIL
also fucking god i just made the mistake of watching youtube movie theorists and its so fucking infuriating. like no dipshit its not a PLOTHOLE its called good writing, its foreshadowing, OBVIOUSLY if everything doesnt make sense in that particular order WITH REFERENCE TO SOMETHING CALLED "CANON" MAYBE? JUST MAYBE! ITS INTENTIONAL
i thought more people would catch on to the theme of metanarrative commentary and the discussion the film is having about the idea of a "canon" and what it means. the whole plot of the movie is questioning the (very popular!) philosophy that canon is sacred and must be adhered to at all times to preserve a story. its a super relevant idea to have running through a superhero comics movie because that philosophy is one that was and is the dominant philosophy among comics fans DESPITE THE NATURE OF COMICS MEANING THAT THERE ARE A MILLION TRILLION INCONSISTENCIES FROM STORY TO STORY. the comic book industry and how it functions means that a characters canon is constantly shifting as it is passed from writer to writer. these writers will have different interpretations of the character and what aspects theyd like to highlight, what story components theyd like to add as they craft a narrative responsive to the context that they live in.
miguel is the obvious stand in for the fan that insists that certain criteria must be fulfilled for a character to still be considered the same character. for the narrative to remain "intact" (we all understood that yes? universe = story). the obvious and numerous inconsistencies we see with MIGUEL SPECIFICALLY are to just highlight how wrong he is already and keep us skeptical (hes one of the only spiderpeople who wasnt bitten by a spider, hes called out in movie by peter b that hes not funny - whats up with that, spiderman is always supposed to be funny)
MILES BEING THE OG ANOMALY IS ALSO FITTING WITH THIS DISCUSSION BECAUSE, IRL, MILES HAD INSANE PUSHBACK FROM COMIC BOOKS FANS WHO - GET THIS - THOUGHT IT WAS TOO FAR FROM CANON! often very racist pushback that insisted that for spiderman to be "canon" he must be a white man! the pointed diversity of spiderpeople in this trilogy is not just trying to diversify superhero movies in a meaningful way - its also trying to make a broader point with its storyline that the ideological worship of "canon" can and does have racist implications ! that we should question the idea of "canon" and what we assume is necessary for a story to remain intact - can there be spidermen of different races (and genders, and religions, and etc etc) and tell the same crucial story? spiderverse is trying to prove desperately yes, yes, a thousand times yes, look at the story we are telling and tell us this isnt spiderman. our black protagonist is quintessentially spiderman while still being black, while still being puerto rican - those things add dimensions to the spiderverse canon that enrich it rather than detract from it. and while this point stands for a lot of art, they are also very intentional about it being about COMICS specifically, SUPERHEROES specifically. a literary novel centered around a specific time period and contect is not what theyre concerned about - they are keeping the theming of this movie series tightly around the medium of the superhero comic. because this IS a medium where absolutely this kind of multiplicity in experience BENEFITS the storytelling.

Defending Peter Parker (Round 1: Andrew Garfield)
Here <- Read this one too if you want (you don't need it to understand this one... but still.. give me the attention🥴)
Soooooo I'm doing this cuz I'm bored to show y'all how dumb some of your arguments and criticisms of the live action spidermen are. I'm doing Holland next. I'll do Maguire if someone shows me where people have hated on his spidey cuz all I ever see for him is people treating him like he's the most perfect Peter Parker to ever exist. I'd never tell anyone how they're "supposed" to feel about a situation so I won't do that and also don't take this seriously I'm just a dumb teenager. I'm just taking the dumb opinions y'all like to pass as fact and rebutting them with actual facts.
Here <- link for Tom (coming later)
Tumblr media
"hE's ToO cOoL"
This just tells me you don't really read the comics. Or if you do, you only read for one type of Peter Parker. People forget that his character is FLUID.
The completely BS idea that Peter Parker is this insanely socially inept uwu guy is just really false and I don't know where it came from. (Oof welp, actually I do. It came from all the people that think that there can only be one type on top) The hate for Andrew's Peter is so unwarranted. There are so many versions in comics and in shows where Peter's not overly awkward and he's actually pretty confident and does good with making friends. People really just took Tobey Maguire's and said that his was the only version that could possibly be right so apparently that made Andrew's wrong? Like no. Tobey's is not law. He was one of many versions and just because Andrew's was cooler, it did not make his wrong. Check out the spiderman cartoons. Literally any spiderman comic. Peter's got swagger when the story calls for it.
Tumblr media
"cRiNgEy AcTiNg"
This is the only point where I'll use my opinions. If you can, with a straight face, say that the acting in TASM was cringey, but the Tobey Maguire movies are your favorites, you're either a pathological liar or you have absolutely no sense. The Tobey Maguire spider-man movies, while still being good, have literally the cringiest acting I've ever seen. They literally have a whole montage of the dude strutting down the street like an idiot to show that he's being "bad" like??? But your problem is Andrew Garfield's quirks? Um, next caller!
Tumblr media
"sKaTeBoArDiNg & pHoToGrApHy"
(Yes. I've heard this idiotic one before)
Again. Read a comic book. Tobey Maguire's is not law. (Also, Tobey's spidey had photography too sooooooo? I am confusion?? Why do ppl even have a problem with what hobbies he does or doesn't have? That has nothing to do with the character)
Tumblr media
"nO-oNe CaReS aBoUt HiS pArEnTs' StOrY"
...hehe fair 👀, keep going.
Tumblr media
"i DoNt LiKe GwEn"
Okay, I'm all for Gwen Stacy slander here, just not TASM Gwen Stacy slander. The chemistry was there and she was MUCH better than little miss Mary "you didn't see my play, peter" Jane. (I wont put her over Zendaya tho) She was a really good love interest and honestly their chemistry was one of the best parts of the movie. Gwen never tried to hold Peter back and she always helped out as much as she could.
Tumblr media
"gOoD sPidErMaN, bAd PeTeR"
This ties right back into the first one. Everyone had a view of what Peter Parker was "supposed" to be after Tobey Maguire's, so when Andrew's came out and he wasn't "nerdy enough" for people, they immediately assumed it was wrong and hated on him for being cool and funny.
Tumblr media
All in all I give Andrew Garfield's Peter an 8/10. He's super cool and I despise it when people hate on his character and his acting as if he didn't BLESS them by gracing their screens.
Comment anything I might've missed!

So we went and saw Spiderman: No Way Home last night, and it was a blast! It is so much fun watching a movie where people clap and cheer and scream. My daughter had told me to keep it in check, because I can be one of those people, but then a group of college-age girls sat down next to us and the girl next to me said - 'I'm sorry if I spill my popcorn, but I'm probably going to scream a lot.' And I said - 'That it totally fine, I will probably scream with you then!' And sure enough, we both did. It was so much fun, I think we'll have to go to the big movies on opening night from now on.
I have a few more thoughts, but I'll put those below the cut. SPOILERS FOR SPIDERMAN: NO WAY HOME!
I thought it was great, and even better than I expected when it came to the big question of whether Tobey and Andrew would be in it. It started out a bit weird because so much had been given away in the trailers - the whole set up, really. So a bit slow and I didn't really understand how Peter went from being arrested to meeting with Daredevil to starting his senior year. How was he cleared of murdering Mysterio? By Matt Murdoch? I think I just need a rewatch of that - girls next to me asked to confirm if that was Daredevil, and my daughter had no idea so I had to quickly explain.
I thought there might really be a possibility Doctor Strange wasn't Doctor Strange. I sort of dig that Wong is Sorcerer Supreme . . . although I do wonder why he was fighting Abomination in Shang-Chi. Stress relief? Spell was neat, though.
The scene were Doc Ock shows up was awesome, as was the Green Goblin. The theater screamed, so much fun! Unlike other de-aging efforts, I didn't think about it once with Alfred Molina. I'm not a fan of some of the other villiains, but they all had their moments.
The fight in the mirror dimension was very cool. So what's up with Peter still being able to control his body when Strange pushed him out? And then he actually beat him and left him there, wow. Not sure I agree with his reasons, though. It makes sense to me to send everyone back to their universe. I guess it's just in this Peter's nature to want to help - he gets it from his aunt.
Unfortunately, that did not turn out well for her. OMG! It had not even occurred to me she might die. And the way it was done - so much sniffling around me! She seemed fine, and then she wasn't. AND SHE SAID THE LINE!! Amazingly done - heartbreaking. And the first of several surprises.
Ned using the ring is so super cool. There are so many ways to go with that, yes! But Ned trying to open a portal and Andrew Garfield walking out? HOLY SHIT! The theater - or at least my row - lost their minds. So unbelievably awesome. I was expecting them to show up - if they did - in the third act, the final battle. That we got them so early was an unbelievable gift. Because of course Ned tries again and of course Tobey walks through. Brilliantly done. Just great. And then they find Tom's Peter and we get this amazing scene where they learn about each other. Wow. And the banter? LOVE IT!!
Has anyone figured out how Tobey seemed to know Ned's grandmother??
Loved the scene in the lab. I do wonder if these older, more experienced Spidermen would agree with Tom that the villains all need to be cured. I suppose it could go either way, but that seeing a younger version of themselves, they are reminded of their own youthful hope. And I think that's the character at it's core: one of them arguing to send them all back to die without at least trying would not have been true to character.
The final battle was very cool - great action, even better banter. And the arrival points? DAMN! Doc Ock showing up as a good guy to help? YES! Andrew talking to Electro? Yes! But Andrew saving MJ? FUCKING HELL YES! I mean, we all suspected it was coming, but here's where I must say: Andrew almost stole this movie. His Spiderman is so much more confident here. So much more open and talkative and so damn funny, but also heartbroken and wise. I loved him. They way he told them about Gwen and then the look on his face when he saved MJ: brilliant. Also: the scene where Tobey is actually telling Andrew he is amazing? LOVED IT!
And then Tom beating the hell out of Osborn, only for Tobey to stop him. WOW. And then Tobey getting stabbed? AHHHH! And then they saved him... only here comes the rest of them.
The spell at the end is still a little confusing. At the beginning Peter only wanted people to forget that he, Peter Parker, was Spiderman. At the end, in order to shut the multiverse, they have to cast a spell where everyone forgets him, Peter Parker, completely. I guess I'm not sure why the original spell wouldn't have worked? And then if everyone forgets about Peter Parker in his universe, did it spread to the others? Do Osborn and Octavius and the others forget about their Peter Parkers in their universes too? I mean, it sort of makes sense and sort of doesn't and I'm totally down with it, I just want to know more.
Because it's a heartbreaking ending. Peter is truly alone. No one knows who he is. He's invisible. No Aunt May, no MJ and Ned, no Happy and the Stark tech. But he continues on. A friendly neighborhood spiderman. It really is like these three movies are his true origin story. Now he's truly Spiderman.
And there's plenty to work with! That blob of Venom at the end. Daredevil (and Kingpin in Hawkeye). Ned's magic, and the constant references to evil best friends (please no no no no!). Meeting MJ and Ned again and restoring their memory somehow. Will he ever be a part of the Avengers again? Will he be a part of the final battle with Kang years from now? So many possibilities - I love it!
So there's my mad ramble. Still so excited at how well done it was. Were there questions and weaknesses? Sure. But overall, it was great. What they managed to pull off was pretty amazing. And it was such fun watching it in a theater with other screaming fans, I wish I could do it again!

Hey! Hope you're having a nice day. So, yesterday i watched NWH and while it was entertaining it wasn't exactly what I expected. My naive ass thought it was gonna be somewhat like Into the spider-verse lol but that's on me. I don't really get the way they handled the plot, it was kinda stupid imho. Like couldn't they just erase Mysterio's existence? Or why did they have to cure all the villains? Why did Electro was there when he didn't know about Peter Parker being Spiderman? So many plot holes. I know i shouldn't expect much from the MCU but shouldn't consistency be part of this movies? Also i didn't believe much of the May and Peters relationship, like i know she's his last family but like i didn't feel this closeness its supposed to give. Sorry for the rant, i just needed to get it out of my chest
Tumblr media
Thank you! I am. And no apologies necessary, it’s a rant worthy movie. Honestly, by the way I saw people going on on twitter, I expected at least a cohesive story, but instead it was so unbelievably sloppy and riddled with so many glaring plotholes, character inconsistencies and convoluted choices I was like...so...did no one even bother to edit this first? No checks or balances? Just draft 1 and straight to screen? LOL because it's MESSY. I had an entire post on just...questions I had about everything. Yes, they could've EASILY just erased Mysterio's existence. Fuck they, for all intents and purposes could've just erased the moment of his revelation. They could've also just erased people remembering Peter was Spiderman at the end. They didn't need to cure the villains at ALL, and the villains don't even DO anything. They fuck off for like 20 minutes, and..do what? They're not wreaking havoc on the city, they're just gone. Okay. And like I said before, the entire plot of saving and curing the bad guys didn't make any sense. Nevermind the completely fucked up morality, but in its face, it makes no sense. What would happen to them sending them back de-powered, how would it impact the other Spidermen's timelines? Why, pray tell, didn't either of those Spidermen think of trying to cure them before now? Just...SO many questions. It was a slick, but not good movie and I'm...kinda disappointed, which I didn't expect. I've enjoyed Tom Holland's spiderman movies mostly because they're cute and funny and relatively simple, and this really felt like "here's the white man's answer to into the spiderverse, but terrible." And I just...think that's a shame.

okay i know i’ve been vague posting about it so here’s my actual analysis of spider-man no way home
** spoilers, obviously
1. i loved it until the very end. it was equal parts spider-man and peter parker, while the other two movies leaned too heavily in on direction. it was the best characterization spider-man had overall.
2. it was really great that ned and mj got a chance to shine and their characterization in this was all i hoped for.
3. dr strange took on too much of a tony role for me which i didn’t like. i love iron man, so i got past it for homecoming, but i didn’t need it again. like i understand why they needed him for the plot, but they shouldn’t have written a movie that relies so heavily on an adult character babying peter. i think it took away from it.
4. the best part of the entire thing was anything with the other spidermen. their introductions had the whole theatre screaming and even though i lowkey expected it, it was so exciting. and their interactions together were so funny and natural that it made the whole movie. plus, all of the gwen trauma being addressed with andrew’s spidey was perfect as an arc for him and to fit the tone of the movie.
5. it was fucked up that may died and i didn’t think it was good or necessary. it seemed like a plot point needed for the ending, vs the other way around. peter lost ben, he lost tony, it was unnecessary and demoralizing to take away may too.
6. they should’ve mentioned uncle ben. we know there was one because of the FFH suitcase, but we got nothing, when there was so many instances where we could have gotten some of that backstory. it seemed like they were trying too hard to not fall back into old plot lines that they skipped over a massive, and necessary/obvious, part of spider-man.
7. i hated the ending. people may disagree with me on this but i really did. spider-man being completely on his own takes away massively from who MCU peter is, because his motivations rely so solely on how he can help his friends and prove himself. i really see no way that he can keep up his will to move forward being this isolated, especially when he doesn’t have the same edge that the other spidermen have. but even as an audience member, it was so difficult to watch. we root for him and his friends the entire time, and for all past movies, and to see him end up alone and forgotten at the end was heartbreaking, and not the shock factor directors obviously thought it was. we didn’t get a happy ending or clean resolution like the other ones (even with mysterio in FFH, we see peter bond with his family/friends and get the girl) but in this one it was that the “bad guys” were gone and we are supposed to accept that. it was not the right thing to do and i really wish they had just let strange close the portal and there’s the happy ending. there wasn’t any real reason for any of this and i see no logical way for them to fix it.
but that’s just my two cents. for those of you who have seen it, let me know what you think.

He couldn’t even rely on them to save him from the awkwardness; he was just the third or fifth wheel.
All told, knowing that, it shouldn’t have been surprising to Namjoon that he’d forgotten it was Halloween. But he’d been working late and hadn’t thought to check his phone. So, when he got on the bus to go home at nearly midnight and found it full of people in costumes, he was surprised to say the least.
Namjoon pushed his way through the piles of drunk partygoers, finally snagging a seat on a crowded bench as the bus began to move. He hugged his bag to his chest, pulling his phone out to attempt to maneuver his headphones into his ears. Every time he moved though, the bus jostled, or the people did, sending his belongings – and his body – nearly flying into one of the many individuals attempting to stay upright around him.
He huffed and crammed his phone back into his bag, opting instead to people watch. Creature watch was more like it tonight. To his right was a witch with a long green nose wrapped in the arms of her sumo wrestler boyfriend. Namjoon hoped it was a boyfriend with the way he was biting the green paint right off her neck.
A vampire with crooked teeth was tucked into the corner of the bench on the opposite side of the bus, his eyes red rimmed from either alcohol or tears. A handful of Spidermen were scattered throughout the bus, and one Anpanman; hope nobody needed a crime fighter tonight. At the front of the bus was a morbidly obese pirate, and nearby him was a scantily clad police officer. Closest to Namjoon were clearly another couple; a sweet looking bunny with a stunning carrot sitting on his lap.
Namjoon dropped his head back against the window, sighing. This was going to be a long ride. Namjoon normally didn’t mind the length of the bus ride from his office to his apartment. He was nearly the last stop. It gave him time to decompress and relax before he reached his home, making it a truly relaxing and safe space for him.
He would certainly need a relaxing space after this ride. Much to his relief, people began to filter off the bus as it drove through the city, allowing Namjoon slowly more breathing room. He was finally able to pull out his cell phone, popping in one earbud as he finally responded to his his friend’s text messages.
Namjoon barely registered the male figure plopping down next to him. He glanced over, seeing a horrifying rabbit rather than a human face. The mask was startlingly realistic; as realistic as Namjoon supposed a fake creature could be.  It had long, soft looking white furry ears, splattered with what looked blood and bits of flesh. Namjoon took a longer peek, seeing dark red eyes. The mouth was opened to reveal rows of sharp teeth with the comical two front bunny teeth, splattered with blood and gore across its mouth area. The boy wore a plain long sleeved white shirt covered in bloodstains and a pair of white jeans in a similar state. He had on fuzzy white bunny paw gloves. Namjoon wondered what sort of person would think it was funny to dress in such a way for a Halloween costume. Surely someone demented, right? He tried not to let it bother him, facing forward again.
It was difficult not to notice, however, when the boy’s head fell to the side, resting on Namjoon’s shoulder. He tensed, unsure what to do. The boy’s head was heavy, his body lax on the seat, he was most definitely sleeping. What were Namjoon’s options? He could shove the kid off him, he was sure, but the person next to the boy looked far less friendly. He could move, but then the boy would fall and potentially hurt his head. Namjoon glanced at his phone. Only another ten or so stops, he figured. And the boy would surely wake up when it was his stop. Not so bad, he could be a pillow for a sleepy kid for that long, right?
So Namjoon didn’t move. The boy leaned more against him, and Namjoon could feel firm arm muscles under the thin shirt the boy wore. He wondered how old he was. He looked too big to be a child, but only someone young would pick a costume like that, right? Namjoon supposed he was young himself, but he’d never wear something so horrifying. Though – he wasn’t exactly a normal person in regards to that sort of thing.
His mind wandered as the stops went past, the warm body of the boy on his shoulder soothing in a way Namjoon hadn’t expected. He was so tired of being alone. He wondered what it would be like to be dating someone, have them doze like this on him, while watching a movie or heading on the bus home from some fun night out. He envied his friends and their partners in a way. He hoped, maybe someday, he could get his head out of his work and pursue that happiness he longed for. But that was far off, he knew. Right now he needed to focus on his career. Sure, if something fell into his lap he’d pay attention – he wasn’t blind – but he couldn’t take the time to seek out a lover at this point in his life.
The bunny boy shifted, his hand falling onto Namjoon’s thigh. Namjoon chuckled a little, saying nothing. Boy must be tired. The robotic bus voice echoed another stop upcoming, and the bunny boy jerked up.
“Did they say Mokdongseo-Ro?” He asked, his voice muffled by the rabbit mask. Namjoon nodded.
“Yeah, he just called it.”
“Crap.” The boy yanked the cord at the last second and the bus jerked to a stop. The boy was thrown almost into Namjoon’s lap, apologizing repeatedly.
Namjoon laughed and shook his head. “No problem.” He watched as the boy rose and rushed over to the door of the bus. Namjoon chuckled a little, noticing a little fluffy white tail attached to the back of the boy’s jeans. He sighed when the bus began to move, shifting over to set his bag in the spot the boy had abandoned.
“Oh—” A beat up brown wallet sat in the seat. The boy must have dropped it in his rush to get off the bus. Namjoon scooped it up, chewing his lip. He could leave it, he supposed. But that didn’t feel right. The boy sounded relatively young, and there could be something important in that wallet. Without thinking on it too long, Namjoon scooped it up and dropped it into his backpack. He sat back, watching the street as it neared his stop.
Namjoon showered and fell into bed almost at once when he got home the bunny boy’s wallet momentarily forgotten.
The next morning, Namjoon puttered around, readying himself for the day. He didn’t need to go into the office this weekend, much to his relief, so he was able to take some time to himself before digging into his work. A bit of time watering and tending to his bonsais and other plants, checking his personal email and responding to friends from various parts of the world, checking his newsfeed and picking out certain news articles to enjoy as he ate his breakfast. A brisk walk, he decided, was desperately needed. The morning was beautiful and the perfect temperature as he wandered through the quiet street his apartment building was on. He reluctantly returned home after nearly forty minutes of walking, opening his backpack to pull out the work he’d brought home with him.
The bunny boy’s wallet fell out with his papers, and the memories from the night before came rushing back. He picked it up, tapping it on his palm for a moment. He felt guilty going through someone else’s belongings, but he had to figure out who the kid was to return it. His mask getup wouldn’t be helpful today. Sighing, Namjoon opened the wallet. A handful of cards, Namjoon flipped past them until he reached the boy’s ID. Namjoon gasped. He knew the bunny boy!
There was a coffee shop just a few miles from his house that Namjoon always stopped at on his way to work. Partly because the coffee was amazing. Mostly because the barista was the most beautiful man that Namjoon had ever laid eyes on. He only knew the boy by JK, but every time he went in the boy greeted him happily, never having a bad day, it seemed. Namjoon had spent more than a few minutes daydreaming about what it would be like to share a kiss with him, hold his hand, and
more. And here he was, holding onto JK’s wallet. Jeon Jungkook. Aged twenty-two. Not too far from Namjoon’s age, really. A September baby too. Oh and—
Namjoon snapped the wallet shut. He’d just opened it to get the boy’s name and potential address to return it. Not snoop at his entire life history – cute barista or not. Namjoon tossed the wallet onto the table, straightening out his papers to begin his work. As he did, his eyes continued to drift over to the beat-up wallet on the table.
Yoongi would call it fate, Namjoon was sure. He could go for a coffee… And he was sure the boy was worried about his wallet. Did he work on Saturdays? Namjoon wasn’t sure – he’d never been in the shop on a Saturday. Only one way to find out.
Namjoon rose and swept his work papers and computer back into his backpack, adding the wallet to the pile. He might as well get some work done at the shop after returning the wallet. He pulled his sneakers back on and headed out to catch the bus.
The coffee shop was busier than Namjoon was used to it being. A nice day, he supposed. He stepped in, peeking around the line of people. There he was. No sign of his horrific mask from the night before, Jungkook was smiling brightly as he worked. His sleeves were rolled up to reveal a peek of a tattoo sleeve, his shaggy black hair tied back in a messy bun as he took the order from the elderly woman at the counter. And that grin. The only sign of his mask was the bunny like grin he gave when he nodded to the customer and turned to pass the order off to an older boy working with him.
Good, Namjoon could return the wallet and that would be that. He sighed, shifting his weight on the balls of his feet. What if the boy – Jungkook – thought he stole it? Surely he’d understand when Namjoon explained. But what if he didn’t? Namjoon chewed his bottom lip, worries filling his mind. Maybe he should just drop it off at the nearby counter. Jungkook would find it, and he’d escape without being wrongly accused. But what if someone else found it? What if it got lost forever? No – he had to give it to someone. Should he just say he found it on the floor? Surely Jungkook would have realized his wallet was missing the night before, that wouldn’t work.
Namjoon continued to worry himself into a frenzy, unable to make a final decision even as only one person stood between him and Jungkook. Finally, it was his turn.
Jungkook beamed at him. “Morning.”
“M—Morning,” Namjoon stumbled over his words.
Jungkook tilted his head a little, eyes narrowing. “You’re a regular here, huh?”
“Yeah, most weekdays.”
“Thought you looked familiar. What can I get you?” “Uh—” Namjoon froze. “Oh just—iced Americano today, please.”
“Sure.” Jungkook grinned. He glanced back. “Slowed down, Jin-hyung, you can take your break.”
“Thanks, JK.” The one he called Jin clapped him on the back and headed out one of the doors.
“Busy weekend, huh?”
“They usually are,” Jungkook said as he made the coffee Namjoon had requested.
“Do you always work?” Namjoon asked. “I mean I just—I see you every day I’m in here.”
“Yeah, my best friend owns the place.” He jutted his thumb at the door Jin had exited. “Really he’d be sunk without me,” Jungkook teased, laughing. Namjoon laughed as well, nodding.
“You’re very good at what you do.”
“Well thanks.” Jungkook placed the cup in front of Namjoon and quoted the price.
Namjoon reached into his bag, grabbing his wallet, and spotting Jungkook’s.
“Uh… Actually…” He pulled out his wallet, handing over his card.
“What?” Jungkook asked as he ran it. “Well, I—Um. Bloody bunny?” He asked.
Jungkook tilted his head. He passed the card back to Namjoon.
“I’m sorry?”
“Uh—” Namjoon reached into his bag, pulling out Jungkook’s wallet. “You left it. On the bus. Mokdongseo-Ro. You—I promise I didn’t steal it, it must have fallen out when you got up.”
Jungkook gasped, grabbing the wallet from Namjoon’s hand. “Oh my God, thank you,” he stressed. “I’ve been worried sick that I lost this, I’m so forgetful.” He bowed so low his head nearly smacked the counter. “Thank you, thank you so much.”
“Hey, don’t worry about it.” Namjoon laughed a little. “I figured after your nap you were groggy, so…”
Jungkook’s eyes widened. He covered his mouth with his hand. “It was you. I fell asleep—Oh God, I’m so embarrassed.” He put his hands over his face.
“Why?”
“A giant gory bunny falls asleep on a handsome guy’s shoulder and then he has to come out all this way on a weekend to return my wallet, I’m such a dope.”
“Handsome, eh?” Namjoon teased, his heart skipping a beat at the phrase.
Jungkook made a small, distressed noise, screwing his eyes shut. “I’m so sorry. That was weird.”
“I’ve never been called handsome before. Especially not by a cute bunny.”
Jungkook’s face was positively glowing. Namjoon’s heart was thudding out of his chest; he was awful at flirting, what was he doing?
“Cute?” Jungkook said softly. “I didn’t just totally offend you and freak you out?”
“No, your terrifying mask did a good job of that last night. I far prefer the face under it.” Namjoon smirked when Jungkook’s shy smile reappeared.
Namjoon grabbed his card and coffee.
“Uh—Let me pay you back,” Jungkook stuttered.
“What do you mean?”
“F—For the wallet and… Scaring you.”
Namjoon bit his lip. He could say no. He wasn’t looking for someone right now… But he’d be a damn idiot to turn Jungkook down.
“What do you have in mind?”
“Ah, well… I’m really bad at this,” Jungkook admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. The bell on the door dinged, signaling a new customer.
“How about this,” Namjoon said. “I’m gonna go sit over there by the window and work. I’ll be there a while. When you decide… Come by.”
Jungkook smiled broadly, clearly relieved, and nodded. “Thank you.”
Namjoon went over to the spot he’d said, taking a seat and sipping the coffee. Perfect as always. He began to work, letting himself get lost in his job as he did.
He barely noticed when a fresh coffee was plopped in front of him. “On the house.”
Namjoon looked up, grinning at Jungkook. “Don’t need to do that.”
“My pleasure. Jin-hyung allows us all to have a free coffee on our shift, but I’m not a fan, so… You can have mine.”
“Well thank you. Are you off?”
“Just on break, but I was thinking about paying you back.”
“The coffee isn’t doing that?”
Jungkook shook his head, taking a seat across from Namjoon. “You said I was cute,” he said softly.
“You are.”
“I’m… Are you—” He sighed softly, clearly struggling.
“Are you trying to ask if I’m gay?”
Jungkook squeaked softly, glancing around.
“Are you in the closet?” Namjoon worried, lowering his voice.
“Not exactly, but I don’t talk about it to anyone. You know how people can be here. I’m out with my friends and stuff.”
“Of course. The answer is yes, I’m into guys. I don’t know what label I am, but, yeah. If you’re asking if that cute was a flirtation – it was.”
“Good,” Jungkook’s shoulders relaxed visibly. “Because the handsome was too… Do you wanna go out with me?”
“You don’t even know my name.”
“Yes I do. I… Sorta peeked at the receipt when you walked away. Kim Namjoon-ssi.”
“Hyung is fine. Where do you have in mind for a date?”
“Is that a yes?” Jungkook asked, biting his bottom lip.
“Might be.” Namjoon tried to keep his voice steady, when in reality he was ready to jump for joy. A date. With someone as cute as Jungkook.
“Well, my friend was supposed to do Everland with me today. And I was going to go alone because they got a better offer from a girl. But I don’t want to go alone, not if I have someone really handsome to go with… I—” Jungkook shrugged.
“Isn’t Everland doing a Halloween thing still?”
Jungkook nodded. “I love this season.”
“I don’t,” Namjoon admitted. Jungkook pouted. He actually pouted. Namjoon’s heart skipped a beat.
“You don’t? But it’s so fun. Especially with friends. Come on, you’ll have fun. We don’t even need a costume, it’s just like a theme park but scary. And I have passes, I’ll pay for any other rides we wanna do that don’t come with the pass.”
Namjoon bit his lip. “When you do wanna go?” He asked. Jungkook beamed.
“I get off at three, I was gonna head there around four. The best stuff happens after seven anyway, but there’s some fun haunted houses and rides for earlier in the day.”
Namjoon nodded. “Fine. How do you wanna go?”
“Well, I have to go home and change, so we could meet at the park if you wanted to eat there, or pick a spot nearby if you wanna eat outside the park.”
“We can eat outside the park, I know there’s a little food cart area nearby, do you know it?”
Jungkook nodded.
“Let’s meet there. Here.” Namjoon pulled out a pet and tore off a piece of paper. He wrote his phone number down and passed it to Jungkook. “Text me when you’re there, or call me, I’ll plan to get there around four-thirty. I’ll buy dinner since you’re covering the passes and rides.”
Jungkook took the paper and tucked it into his pocket. “Deal. I won’t lose my wallet this time either.”
“And no scary bunny mask. This bunny smile is far cuter.” Namjoon reached out, stroking Jungkook’s cheek. Jungkook’s eyes widened and he laughed.
“You’re a flirt.”
“Not often,” Namjoon admitted. “Thanks for the coffee, Jungkook… I’ll see you this afternoon?”
Jungkook nodded, rising with Namjoon. He glanced around the mostly empty shop.
“I’m gonna do something really rash, okay?”
“Oh yeah?”
“Mhm.” Jungkook went forward and kissed the corner of Namjoon’s mouth. “Thanks for returning my wallet. And… For letting me sleep on you.”
Namjoon’s eyes widened, surprised by the brashness of his new suitor. He grinned dumbly, watching Jungkook rush back to the counter to take the order of the customer there.
He wasn’t looking for a lover, he’d said. But who was he to turn away fate? Especially when it came in the form of the cutest bunny boy falling asleep on his shoulder?

Author’s Note: I’ve had this in my notes for a year now and finally decided to post this! Of course I wrote this right after IW so everything that happened after (Captain Marvel + Endgame trailers) isn’t included. I was inspired by this pic I saw on twitter and I don’t know who to credit for, if it’s you tell me! Also, I’m posting this in the next three days before Endgame ends me.
Warnings: time skip, swearing, angst, unedited.
you can find part 1 & 3 in the masterlist
Tumblr media
In a matter of seconds, Calum had locked the training room and all of you were wondering around the compound.
«Alright so, I’ve been working on somethings» he clapped his hands once he was back walking side by side with his friends. Gesturing for them to follow, he led them into the lab.
«Holy fucking shit, man!» Michael exclaimed as soon as he saw what was laying on the table.
Luke flinched visibly, then he smiled a little. «I have to agree with you on this one»
You stifled a laugh, observing the suits intently. They looked like copies of the ones your parent’s had, yet different.
«I found my dad’s latest projects and updated them. Then I started putting together the suits using prototypes he left behind during his researches» Calum proudly said while watching the awe in our eyes while we studied the suits.
«And why exactly did you do this?» you said finally focusing on him, a wide smile still printed on your face.
«I had spare time» he shrugged and waved it off like it was nothing.
«Let’s go before I change my mind» Ashton announced, grabbing his suit and weapons.
All the while, things seemed to get worse for the world’s mightiest heroes.
They had successfully evacuated the area of all civilians, Thor, Tony, Sam and Rhodey were taking care of the main source of problems, while the rest of the team contained the army from escaping into the safe zone.
Or at least, tried to.
The scene you arrived to witness was not great, nonetheless you started making up a plan.
«I’ll go help my dad with that giant piece of alien ass» stated Calum. «Ash, you stay up on the roofs and shoot some arrows at that thing when I tell you to» the boy nodded in agreement, containing a laugh at his words.
«Tell me to, when exactly?» he asked then.
Calum rolled his eyes. «Fine, when we look like we might need some extra shooting where we can’t go. To your discretion»
Ashton finally held back his laugh and nodded in understanding.
«I think they might need help when some of the army escapes out of their reach. They’re not enough to stop them from going into the safe zone» you stated, just as one escaped Cap’s reach and ran, before Bucky shot him down.
All nodded in agreement. «Mike I’ll need you to come with me and web as many of them down as you can. Maybe throw in there some electric webs, or I don’t know, build a web wall to stop them?» you sounded a bit uncertain with that. Could he really make a web wall?
«You got it, Y/N» it was rare and quite strange to see the joyful boy so serious, but matters called for him to be.
«And I do what, stand there and watch?» asked Luke.
«Well, if you can use that shield as your father can you can go and help Y/N and Mike» Ashton instructed. «In case something goes wrong»
All nodded once again.
«Well, if we don’t die» started Cal, masking his face with his iron suit. «Our parents will kill us»
All smiled at that, knowing it was the truth, before sprinting into action.
You arrived with Michael near the borders of the zone that was being attacked, everything seemed calm, so you two ventured nearer to the fight.
«Mike, if you hear anything you have to tell me» he nodded. The boy had inherited all that were his father’s abilities and super hearing right now was a great advantage.
As you proceeded, Calum flied directly at the source of the fight, already searching for the way to shut it down.
On closer inspection, this thing only looked like some sort of alien technology - almost like a giant and fighting spaceship - and Calum knew instantly he only had to search for the “off button”.
«What the hell!» Tony screamed, startling the rest of the team that was listening from the comms.
«Stark, please, if it’s not something of vital importance-» started Steve, before being interrupted.
«Looks like our kids joined the fight» he simply said, looking down at his son who was fighting too, searching for something.
«She’s dead» simply added Natasha, knowing better than to look around for her daughter when she was surrounded by an alien army. She knew she could make it on her own, but worry washed over her anyway.
Meanwhile, Luke had gone in a different direction - after warning you and Mike - and was already fighting alongside with Peter, who was having some trouble since he was left alone taking care of escaping aliens in one zone.
«Guys, do you think they already know?» you asked as you were fighting against one of said aliens.
«I can basically see Mr. Stark refraining from killing Cal while focusing on the main problem» Ash almost laughed.
«Very funny» said Cal then. «Instead of laughing at my misfortune, do everyone a favour and please shoot an arrow in the back of this alien asshole»
It was tough, but you thought you were having it easier than the rest. You and Michael had done a good job at clearing the area from all the escaped members of the alien army, and were now near the center of the fight.
On the street opposite to the one you arrived from you could see Luke and Peter, meaning that they too had done a good job at clearing the opposite area.
«Guys, almost all of the army is now centered solely near the thing» informed Ashton from your comms. «Cal, have you found a way to stop it?»
«We’re working on it» he answered shortly.
You were still pretty far, but you could see him fight and work alongside his dad. That put a smile on your face. You were clearly distracted and before you could see it you could hear just a warning scream.
«Y/N!»
An alien had kicked you in the chest, causing you to fall to the ground. «Motherfucker» you muttered mostly to yourself as you stood up, dodging a punch.
You were throwing hits everywhere you could, but unfortunately you were doing more of a dodging work.
Suddenly, the alien fell to your feet. Your eyes shot up and you saw Bucky there with his gun. He nodded at you, before his aim drifted to another bunch of aliens.
Quickly, you made your way as close as you could get to the rest of the team.
«You alright?» Michael landed beside you, startling you a bit. «I tried to tell you but it was too late and-»
«Don’t worry Mike, Bucky took care of it» you flashed him a smile to ease his nerves. «Now it looks like Luke might need some help» you pointed where the blond boy was.
Peter was called to help elsewhere, near Bruce, and had reluctantly left him alone.
«You sure you’ll be okay?» he asked, but before you could answer the eyes of his suit widened and he pushed you aside as quickly as possible, going down with you, webbing an alien to the ground before an arrow shot him down. It took you both a second to get up on your feet.
«Thank you, now go!» you encouraged. He lingered a moment, before nodding and appearing the next alongside Steve’s son.
As the battle went on, you found your way near your mom and fought in her area.
Through the comms you knew that Calum and Mr. Stark were closer to a way to shut down the alien technology by the minute, that Michael and Luke with the help of Peter and the protection of your dad were setting as many web traps as possible so that Ashton, Clint and Sam could take care of the alien army easily.
«Hold on a little longer, we’re almost there» you could hear the tiredness in Cal’s voice, this battle was definitely taking longer than everyone expected.
«Please, hurry up» you muttered, as once again you dodged an alien weapon that was thrown at you. As you went to kick the alien that threw it your way, a burning feeling took over your left arm, making you wince in pain. Looking over, you noticed a wide gash. Deciding to ignore the feeling as best as you could you landed a blow right on its head, making it fall to the ground. Everyone seemed to be giving their fullest effort in order to finally win this over, but it seemed like it could last only much longer before any of you gave up.
«How the hell am I supposed to do that?» he shouted shocked. «You told me to go help with shooting at aliens!»
«We have two Spidermen, pick one and ask for a ride. Stop making such a fuss!» instructed Luke, shutting them both up.
Shortly after, you saw Clint’s son back up on the highest building in the zone, following Cal’s shouted directions.
It couldn’t have been longer than five minutes, before you heard a cheer through the comms and the order to leave towards the more isolated streets and alleyways.
«Why?» asked Michael halfway through his cheer of victory.
«Because if you don’t this fucking thing is gonna fall down on your head, you idiot» answered Calum. Their playful banter had always made you laugh.
He was right though, all the aliens fell down like they were dead as soon as the main one was shut down and now the giant spaceship like alien was starting to fall down too, piece by piece.
It was like watching a building crumble.
You ran through the dead bodies to the nearest alleyway that was safe enough to hide in. Catching your breath you noticed that also Luke and Michael were there, their backs resting on the opposite wall from the one you were resting against.
You smiled at them. It was over. You won. You were all alive and only had minor injuries. Just as Ashton ran into the alleyway too, standing beside you, Mike seemed to notice something off.
«Oh my fucking God, Y/N!» he stopped smiling as soon as his eyes landed on your arm. Luke did too and you watched as both their faces fell. You waved it off. «Don’t worry, it’s just a cut, it’s gonna heal»
«It looks really bad» the blond said, coming closer, followed by Mike and Ash - who was looking over worriedly.
Michael took off his mask, revealing his worried face. «We should hurry back» he said inspecting your wound.
Luke saw it before any of you did, but he wasn’t fast enough to stop it.
One last alien had stepped into the alleyway, what looked like a knife in his hand. The blond shouted something you couldn’t hear, pulling you into his chest as Michael webbed the alien to the ground.
An out of focus Ashton ran into action, shooting and arrow right through the alien’s head. The last you saw was Cal’s suit landing near you, his mask coming off as his horrified face was revealed to you.
Then it all went black.

Hello again <3
so i think im gonna write about my mental health today because i dont feel like i have anyone who understands fully apart from myself maybe so i need to Organise my Thoughts. as a kid i had a pretty normal childhood, a mum a dad and a brother - pretty nuclear right. but as a child i felt like my family maybe wasnt quite right, that this wasnt supposed to be what family is? perhaps. - i was scared of my mum a lot because she wasnt very understanding of me - and i was a great kid, never getting into trouble, very good at school, no issues whatsover. the thing that really shows how i thought of my relationship with my mum was when i was like maybe 8 or so having a parents night and at it my teacher had nothing bad to say apart from i was kinda bossy in group settings (im sure i dont need to explain how misogynistic that actually is- i was not bossy i was a natural leader) and when i got home my mum told me off for that and i felt like she was kinda cold to me and not taking all the good things about me into consideration when telling me off for that.
i feel like thats a really defining moment in my life when i realised i cant expect adults to Understand me, realised how people treat young girls, also started my defiant behaviour maybe or was kinda one of the key moments that made me dislike certain authorities in my life, that if people wont understand me regardless of how i explain myself then i wont bother trying to be understood by people who wont matter to me. anyway yes i was scared of my mum-like petrified sometimes- but my dad wasnt great either, he also had his shortcomings. i feel like he never really cared about me like he was kinda apathetic towards raising me like a parent - i feel he would be better suited as an uncle to someone rather than a dad - the funny childish guy that makes kids laugh -not the uncaring dad that cant be bothered to really learn about his kids. and i feel im sitting here complaining about my parents when the fact is that a lot of adults should never be parents, society has conditioned people into thinking the only way to be fulfilled in life is to live vicariously through your kids when life gets to such a boring and monotonous place where you feel the need to create a new life to spice things up lmao. i feel a lot of parents regret having kids but they cannot express that regret because it was their choice and they should deal with that, also saying you regret it would be pretty horrible to the kid.
so while yes i am complaing about my parents i dont think they were Bad in any way just not that great yaknow. also i just notice all these things growing up and i feel its been pretty impactful to understanding myself and my parents. also just some anecdotes from my childhood - i used to watch my dad play video games like the uncharted games i think theyre called, and whenever i got scared i used to hide behind the couch until the scary part was over (usually a lot of guns and high energy fight scenes thats too much adrenaline for a 7 yo) and sometimes when i would take out my dad/brothers game i would get them to fo the hard parts and do other stuff myself - i dont remember many games i played apart from one of the spidermen games where u could just web around the city and not progress apart from sometimes you would come across some strippers and i accidently got into a fight with them (also hot women with umbrellas they use to fight- maybe i went near them on purpose) i would yell to my dad and get him to do it for me. also on new years eve whenever my mum was working and we werent going to any family parties we would make a bunch of food and put it out in the kitchen - wed make like homemade onion rings, chips, have crisps and dips, and a bunch of junk basically and watch like austin powers or some shit and genuinely miss those times they were so simple. but a lot of thats tainted now from what happened. also my brothers always been annoying as shit but when we were kids we couldnt be in the same room without arguing which like whatever thats how kids are esp brothers and sisters for some reason.
i think thats majority of the background needed for the rest. wait this is a little addition but i meant to mention this here so ill put it in- basically sometimes on holidays i would geniunely think my parents hate each other/ were getting a divorce like once when we were in florida in 2012 my dad convinced my mum (as well as me and my brother convinced her since we liked them) we convinced her to go on a water slide thing that u had to walk up the stairs for, it was outdoors, and it was kinda tall and then we got in one of the big donut things and it swooshed from side to side a lot and was generally pretty scary i suppose for someone who doesnt like rides esp since you had to hold on to the handles there were no buckles or anything, and so when we got off the ride my mum was big mad at my dad and like wouldnt talk to him and stuff like that which was pretty uncomfortable to have to be the 8 year old mediator of that but there was also another occasion i think (maybe also at florida) where they were made at each other and i asked my mum if they were getting divorced and all she said was 'ask ur dad' like???? no sort of consolation to this child who thinks their parents hate each other nooo just petty 'ask him' and theres also been other times when they fight/ are mad and they dont feel the need to hide it from us so i felt quite anxious around my parents sometimes.
so ahnyway . yes. when i had just turned 13 my parents split up and it fucked me up in a multitude of ways. also i cant beleive i stopped being a proper kid at 13, like as soon as i turned a teenager life hit me like a fucking truck. so the context as to why they split is still kinda lost to me ngl but they didnt tell me much anyway since i was young but my mum basically said my dad didnt love her anymore and he wanted to separate. its kinda funny because leading up to this my dad had been sleeping in the living room for like a few weeks and there was on and off fighting i could hear and i basically thought they were fighting over me and that i was in trouble and it kinda used to keep me up coz i could hear loud voices when they thought i was asleep- which is probably the cause of why i get veryyyy mad and angry when i hear my mum at like 1 am downstairs when shes drinking and im trying to sleep, probably something ive internalised (is that the word?) and made me respond so strongly to those type of noises.
anywayyyyy yes i thought i was in trouble when they were actually just getting a divorce so ... yeah you can really tell i was young and didnt understand adult issues or really couldnt figure this out myself from all the arguing and him sleeping downstairs lmao. anyway my dad moved out and it was just me my mum and my brother now and at this point my brother wouldve been about to turn 18, so although still kinda shit, not really as affected my it as a 13 yo, just to keep in mind. so i was devastated obviously and my whole world was kinda shattered but i had to hold it together a bit, also i was sometimes my mothers own therapist having to say things like 'everything happens for a reason' 'itll get better' in response to her deteriorating mental health and her questions that would be really hard for me to answer like 'why did he leave' etc (bish im a child be there for me not wallow in ur own pity, u have ur whole life to sort this out youre an adult, im a 13 you and only months away from wanting to kms hun think of ur CHILD please) anyway this left me feeling like a burden if i were to share my mental state because when my mum shared her stuff she was burdening me (AGAIN i was 13 she is an adult) so that made me bottle a lot of things up also the fact that i had no one to share it with because she works as a nurse and now shes a single mother and so she works almost all hours of most days and i dont see her much, my brother was either working at this time or just didnt give enough of a shit about me to make sure i ate.
i went from being catered to for every meal because i didnt know how to cook to suddenly no one being there for me so i had to learn how to do it myself. needless to say that lead to a bunch of unhealthy eating habbits like eating the same things every day - frozen pizza, cheese toasties, i cant think of anything else probs because i didnt make anything else just ate chocolates or didnt eat breakfast coz i woke up at 2pm. just general unhealthyness both in substance and like how healthy that was for my head yk. also this is during the summer btw so it gave me the option to be incredibly depressed - im not saying that as an edgy teen thing to say im being 100% genuine i was very depressed like textbook style - not eating or overeating, not showering/ taking care of myself, extreme lack of energy and hated doing social things coz i had to put on a farce that i was okay meanwhile i couldnt wait to get into my bed and sleep the next day and a half away.
i very vividly remember at the start of the summer holiday my friend asked me if i wanted to go out and do something and i rememeber just crying at that because i had no reason to say no but i just didnt want to and felt like i couldnt do anything and so i lied and said i wasnt feeling well and then put my phone down and curled up in my bed and cried coz i was frustrated and upset and i couldnt really understand what was wrong with me and why i was Like This.
god i didnt take into account how tired i was and how late it is when i started this huh, this isnt even half of it, but i have obligations in the mornign, the last until uni or whatever so ill put this in my drafts and finsih it somethime. alrigtht it is 02:08 btw z_z. also ive just now decided im gonna re organise my tumblr so if this ends up being an actual blog thing i can navigate it easier by adding tags and such. anywau goodnight.

so
23:01- well. yes earlier i wrote a little about the ages 13-16 and how they sucked but whatever it got deleted the more pertinent stuff happened in the last year or so anyway.
um yeah so i started the last year of highschool as a 16 year old with a fucked up brain and never having learned any study techniques or work ethic in the slightest. i took 3 uni-level courses only one i actually wanted to do, most people take 2 at most or even 1/0 but do other classes. honestly it fucking sucked this year for school but i scraped all passes so thank god for that. so i started the year quite optimistic, or as much as i could be and in all fairness the content of this year wasnt actually that bad considering i was doing 3 hard classes but corona really truly fucked everything up and by November i had mentally dropped out of my classes but of course i still had to go to them. i feel like im an oddly independent teen because ive never had a solid parental presence in a while, like i had to do a lot for myself and maybe i should thank myself for getting me through it all because i really did pull through.
my thoughts keep drifting from what im writing coz i wanna talk about different things and im just thinking maybe i shouldve just posted the last one then added a reblog when i could be bothered to write and not force myself because if theres ever a reoccurring theme in my life is that if i force myself to do anything i will hate it with my entire being, so maybe i should just do a short synopsis and write about something else afterwards.
so i took 3 hard classes, slowly lost all motivation because in jan it switches to online classes and i could Not deal with those it was horrible, and i became more of a "troublesome student" in one of my classes *cough* maths *cough* and almost got "kicked out" of taking the class just because the teacher was a control freak but like wanted to control all of our actions and behaviour, also i think i may have adhd and another kid in my class i think he does too and surprise surprise the teacher "dislikes" him too but its only a farce because he doesnt actually dislike him its only so that i cant call him out for singling me out when other students behave "badly" too. but anyways maybe ill come back to this in a while when i can be arsed explaining my complicated relationship with my parents.
the only reason i wanted to write this today was so that i could tag the post with like june 2021 or something and not june/july, but i might make another post later, Anyway happy end of pride month i supose, hope u figure it out me!

Art F City: We Went To SPRING/BREAK: Who Let the Dogs Out?
This cut-out from Allison Zuckerman gets a nod for many reasons,  but primarily because everyone agrees it looks like AFC editor Michael Anthony Farley, AKA Ellen Degenerate.
What’s on View: Two floors crammed full of art shows assembled by 150 independent curators and responding to the theme of Black Mirror. Said theme, chosen by SPRING/BREAK organizers Andrew Gori and Ambre Kelly, is supposed to be a unifying force, and refers to tools used by old masters for landscape painting and portraiture. What we see, though, is a vast array of approaches ranging from formal painting to DIY barbershops. Some directly respond to theme, others have little to nothing to do with it. Mirrors are everywhere.
Molly: SPRING/BREAK is famous for activating and reframing historic spaces. It’s new home in Conde Nast’s former office building in Times Square is the perfect backdrop for this year’s theme: “Black Mirror.” Claude Glass (or black mirrors) were devices used by Old Masters to abstract reality and isolate subjects in a more pleasing manner. One of the most interesting parts of the fair was seeing how every booth reframed the view of Times Square, transforming a block of the city I usually associate with anxiety inducing amounts of tourists posing with Hello Kitties and Spidermen into various picturesque landscapes. That being said, the former office space was so jam-packed that while the coveted “offices with a view” presented a multitude of compelling shows I felt so drained by the end I couldn’t give them proper attention. I love the notion of reframing a vacant space into a platform for contemporary art but the cubicle spaces didn’t feel abstracted enough to transport me anywhere and I felt overwhelmed by the amount of booths crammed into the space.
Harrison: From the organizers’ own descriptions on thesite, they’re relying heavily on an Oscar Wilde narrative, asking the viewer first, “How does this multiplication of the self [through a black mirror] impact the expressive artifact?” Dorian Gray is pulled into view both through question and direct reference. This year’s suggested readings also include Leigh Bowery—overall introducing an evaluation of personhood through physical investigation and individually created mythologies.
It showed. There were mirrors everywhere and self-referencing or self-obliterating works in many of the booths—which were very densely packed in the space. Honestly each floor is at least a fair’s worth of art, so be ready to map your way through the fair with snacks and water packed.
The Pursuit of It
Curated by Nicole Grammatical and Christina Panicolaou
Robin F. Williams
Molly: The bustle of Times Square makes getting into the fair a bit of an ordeal, so I was relieved that one of the first rooms we visited makes you forget about all that. The view of a Manhattan skyline sunset melds perfectly into the hyper femme dreamland of this space. Curated around the idea of a dollhouse, the show gives the artist’s room to play with the ideas of femininity and the demarcation of object and subject—very fitting for the Black Mirror theme.
Robin F. Williams’ painting of a nude woman gazing out a window—on which she has drawn tally marks, juvenile stars, and hearts—was a perfect melancholy opening for the show, setting a tone of beautiful frustration and caged desire.
Signe Pierce’s video, projected onto the window at sunset, seemed perfectly at home, a glimpse into the violent nature of the gorgeous view below. In the video, Pierce poses in a unitard, snapping selfies, while we catch distorted glimpses of tourists’ reactions to her body in public space.
Stills from Signe Pierce’s video
Harrison: This booth is an immersion to your favorite dreamgirl room from your favorite princess fantasy. It’s high-femme. It’s powerful and aggressive in its softness, and a forward display of self-designed femininity. Each artist fulfilled the curatorial goal of imaging a “choose-your-own-adventure” style womanhood, from plushy embroidered cacti (Hein Koh)  to a La Danse reference for and by queer women of color (Hiba Schnabhaz.)
LEAH SCHRAGER: @OnaArtist
Curated by Kristen Sancken
Harrison: Leah Schrager’s work plays heavily with the boundaries of what social media sites deem appropriate for their users to post. Hypersexualized selfies are obstructed by banal images of mid-luxury items or lo-fi glitchwork, just covering enough for her image to be safe for the public. Each image is part of a larger narrative, informing how the viewer consumes her mythology. Schrager works over social media—narrating her own life to suit a celebrity project—and is fully succeeding with a cult following, music releases, and of course exhibitions.
Leah Schrager
Molly: Leah Schrager created her “Ona” (short for online persona) account in the hopes of becoming a social media star and I am definitely one of her 471k fans. The art world often has a puritanical stance on women using their bodies in art and I’ve always appreciated Shrager unabashedly and thoughtfully shoving her sexuality right back in it’s face. This installation featured images of Shrager’s body being overtaken by objects like glitter and chandeliers, playing with the relationship between objects and social media brands.
Ben Sisto, “The Museum of Who Let Dogs Out Out?”
Curated by Jac Lahav
Molly: There is always a booth I walk in and think “I have a crush on this artist” and Ben Sisto’s was it this year. This room featured every piece of merchandise featuring the Baha Men song “Who Let the Dogs Out?” artist Ben Sisto has been able to get his hands on. It was like the ultimate fuck boy fantasy bedroom. Of course it’s the booth I want to marry. There is even a puppy that walks while singing “Who Let the Dogs Out?”  We reached this room about 75% into the fair and the humorous collection of stuffed dogs and novelty tees gave me an energy spike I desperately needed. I’m also going to have the Baha Men stuck in my head for days.
HARRISON: It’s genius. Ben Sisto spent 7 plus years of his life researching “Who Let the Dogs Out?” from the song itself back through any and all musical references or influences that allowed the song to exist. The collection includes toys, music, collectors items, and an incredibly thorough explanation to every piece involved. I laughed throughout the space — this level of intense obsession and research on a single subject is my everything.
TAKE US LYING DOWN
Lisa Levy and Paul Gagner
Molly: Spring Break’s office space lended itself perfectly to Lisa Levy and Paul Gagner’s faux therapy office, reception desk and all. While waiting for a therapy session participants are invited to view books written by the fictional Dr. Howard Mosely, M.D., including titles such as A Beginner’s Guide to Home Lobotomy, Coping With Imaginary Foes, and DIY Coffins. Inside the office Lisa Levy gives public therapy sessions in her “office” that includes wall works with statements such as “WOMEN! Lower your expectations of men,” “I don’t know who you are but I need your approval” and various other remarks many of us have experienced our therapist yelling at us. As someone who annoys her therapist weekly, I found the installation charming and relatable. The room felt like an installation I would want to make specifically to troll my own therapist.
ELIZABETH BICK: THE REAL SIN WOULD BE NEVER EXPERIENCING IT
Curated by C. Finley
HARRISON: Elizabeth Bick is a street photography enthusiast, a pastime which introduced her to a stranger on the train. She and this older woman ended up sharing a passion for dance, and collaborated on a series of photos that offer us a glimpse into her life—through illness and hardship, all performed for Bick’s lens. Both Bick and her subject were dancers for years, and their communal understanding of body and movement is evident. Each photograph is incredibly emotive yet quiet and alone, showcasing a performer whose audience is regularly absent.
GUY RICHARDS SMIT
Curated by Carol Bove
HARRISON: Smit’s series of skull portraits are arranged like a periodic table of descriptors paired with differentiated, but obviously identifiable, skulls. Skull descriptions included words, in all caps, like, “COLLECTOR”, “EASILY SATISFIED”, “BOY CRAZY” and so forth. It’s simple, intelligent, and funny, while also serving as a reminder of mortality. Also Molly and I fit most of the adjectives so we left laughing and directly attacked.
Molly: I felt personally attacked by this booth. I need the large skull with the words “BOY CRAZY” hung over my bed as both a memento mori and a reminder that “actually no, you do not need to send that drunk text.”
SPECIAL PROJECT: GATEWAY by Leah Piepgras
Curated by Grin
HARRISON: The booth by Providence-based artist run gallery Grin provided the antidote to spiritual and physical fair fatigue. The space is filled with mirrored sculptures lit so the reflected light is soothing and provides blue refraction directly behind the works. The ceiling pieces rotate on their own, while the artist invites viewers to spin the wall works (gently) to create a prayer wheel. I recommend recuperating here.
Molly: Normally if someone told me to “spin a glittery wheel while saying a prayer with good thoughts” my eyes would not be able to roll hard enough but this space was so beautiful I was completely invested. The installation completely transported me and is a perfect room to take a break when art fair fatigue is setting in.

I mean I feel like that’s what we are assume post endgame because important members died and the new marvels shows/movie seems like they are showing their life’s post avengers and trying to set up a new one. I agree with aunt May thing not because I dislike the trope (sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t) because I feel like they tried to make her a different character this movie. In the first two she was the hot aunt nothing really more and now they tried to make her more serious
Here's the thing: you shouldn't be assuming anything.
I wish viewers would stop filling in the blanks for shows or movies. You aren't supposed to be doing that. A movie/tv show is literally a form of visual storytelling. So their job, is to tell a story as completely as possible from start to finish and remember their own canon so everything hooks up. Good writing does this already. It's just less noticeable because it appears effortless and baked into the story to answer these questions before you can even have them. You shouldn't walk away with questions, guesses or assumptions that is easily answerable on screen with two or three lines of dialogue. The fact that so much of the viewer experience of the Avengers and Marvel movies in general requires viewers to make their own assumptions is literally indicative of their failure to tell good/strong stories. I refuse to assume anything that I didn't see on screen because that doesn't make sense. That's literally my own interpretation of events, not canon. I'll only discuss canon.
I always find it funny that she's the "hot aunt" because honestly, she's just a moderately attractive older woman that isn't performing her age in the stuffy, frumpy, outdated way we tend to view older women. She wears form fitting jeans and has long hair and glasses so OMG. HAWT. But I digress lmao. Aunt May, didn't have the kind of role in Peter's canonically that we see in this latest movie, she was there for sex appeal, and suddenly they were like "ok well she has to DO something before we kill her." Which I think is a shame. Showing them having a genuinely fruitful relationship, the same way Andrew and Toby's Spidermen were shown with Uncle Ben, would've been nice. Bu Marvel failing at character continuity? Le gasp. Remember Hulk and Black Widow suddenly being in love and suddenly not in the span of two movies?
But my point about that storyline had nothing to do with Aunt May, and everything to do with the crux of the movie: "everyone deserves a second chance."
Peter's first interaction with Doc Oc, Jamie Foxx's character, Green Goblin and the sand guy were literally them trying to kill him and/or everyone in the general vicinity. Then they tell him they were killed by the Spiderman in their universes. And Peter never once asks why? Perhaps because they were trying to kill people? He's supposed to be really smart lol. None of them, outside of Osbourne, were even interested in being "helped" by him. He forced his "help" on them so he could feel better about saving them and the result was a whole bunch of collateral damage and his Aunt being killed because of his hubris, but the dialogue and entire narrative frames his choice as virtuous. His choice killed more people than if he'd sent them back to be handled by their Spidermen. That's completely unethical and unjust. This concept of "saving everybody" is vanity, simply because life just doesn't work that way. And in the effort to save those who not only don't want to be save, but actively want to kill you and everyone else, tends to result in a lot of people getting hurt, as we see each time this tired trope gets trotted out on screen. Some people just need to be stopped. I take issue with a bunch of villains who have willfully killed people, suddenly being reduced to victims of technology, mental illness and low self esteem just so Peter can be framed as the hero. Dr. Strange was right the whole time. And anyway, why the fuck was curing them so important if they had to be sent back anyway? What does that mean for the Spidermen in their universes? This whole movie hinged on a flimsy narrative that doesn't even hold up past the most cursory criticism. All Peter had to do was send them back. The end. It's not even that they weren't his responsibility, but he was not qualified to judge whether or not they deserved a second chance because all he knew about them was his immediate interactions and whatever the villains actually told him, and since they'd just got done hurting people, it kinda seems like, maybe taking them at their word is probably not very prudent. Curing them only makes sense if they couldn't return to their universes, but they could...so why did any of this have to happen?
