Covering their names just in case but
Tumblr media
Explain CF then.
Byleth sides with Edelgard before the timeskip. Byleth chooses Edelgard’s violent ways of disposing of Rhea, which are extremely similar to Hopes!Claude’s way of disposing of Rhea (invade the Kingdom that gave her refuge and kill her). So if Byleth is the key factor here in Claude choosing or not choosing to enact violence onto Rhea, then why would Byleth themselves choosing violence not thus influence Claude to enact violence? Why would Claude oppose Edelgard for the entire war, up until she quite literally forces him out of Fodlan altogether?
Byleth would’ve clearly lost Rhea’s approval after siding with the one side of Fodlan trying to murder her, which would mean that Claude would’ve also, by this logic, been influenced to also try to murder her since now there’s no successor to take on Fodlan after Rhea. If his Hopes and 3H versions were genuinely in line with each other, then CF!Claude would’ve joined Edelgard off the rip. If Claude feels that Byleth not being approved by Rhea would make him get rid of her by force... then why does Byleth not getting approved by Rhea NOT make him get rid of her by force?
Like, I can post shit that comes from WC, VW, AM, SS, I can even post shit he mentions that happens well before the game’s plot and story. But the thing that arguably most definitively debunks Hopes!Claude’s existence (past Part 2) is actually CF. Rhea is depicted as the big bad that has to be killed to gain peace, Byleth is opposing Rhea and has this be a known fact since before the five year timeskip, and Edelgard - just like she does in Hopes - doesn’t bother talking with Claude even the slightest until AFTER she’d already invaded his land. But despite that, Claude - despite having no wins against the Empire unlike in Hopes, and despite having far fewer people on his side unlike in Hopes, and despite not having to deal with Almyra unlike in Hopes (and in fact having them be straight up ALLIES here who are NEVER said to have invaded during the timeskip) - does. Not. Side. With. Edelgard.
Despite “but he was under duress from the Empire!” being MORE TRUE IN 3H than in Hopes, and despite Byleth ACTIVELY APPROVING OF KILLING RHEA unlike in Hopes, he doesn’t side with Edelgard! Even to try and trick her! Almost like that ain’t had SHIT to do with why he did or didn’t side with her, and it was HIS BASE MORALS THAT HE HAS IN HIS BASE CHARACTER THAT NO ONE INSTILLED INTO HIM that influenced him to not side with Edelgard! Crazy idea, but Claude’s his own character with his own internal reasoning for doing things that don’t have to necessarily be tied with Byleth, or Rhea, or the Church, or anything or anyone else for him to have!
And also, Hopes!Edelgard may not have ever been the Flame Emperor to the students of Garreg Mach, but “never did fishy things”? Bruh, did you forget the whole part where she
RANDOMLY WAGED WAR ON EVERYONE???
When she invaded the Alliance and Claude says, quote, “The Central Church is headquartered at Garreg Mach. And the fastest way to get there is straight through Alliance territory. So far, the Empire hasn’t tried to negotiate with us at all. Which means they plan to force their way through here”? That thing that Edelgard literally does, and then literally goes on to lie about? Those things that Hopes!Claude just doesn’t give a shit about for no reason, and then GOES ON TO DO HIMSELF TOWARDS THE KINGDOM?
And Edelgard’s “compromise” isn’t even that great considering that both Claude and Holst know that once the Kingdom is gone the Empire will likely use their superior might to force over majority/complete reign over the Faerghus region before making Leicester into a vassal state. In Hopes!Claude’s own mind, she still doesn’t genuinely respect Leicester as an independent state - he just... doesn’t give a shit about doing anything about that. He just keeps going on mindlessly attacking the Kingdom anyway because, at this point, Who Fuckin’ Cares Lol.
Hopes!Claude is intrinsically contradictory and thus can not and does not make sense. To himself or to 3H!Claude. His character’s writing is treated with no respect and only has the purpose of “giving something different” without any care put into making that different thing any kind of sensical. Sorry, but I’m just not gonna bother trying to make sense of a character the writers clearly didn’t give a shit about after a very blatant point in their story

I'm Oliretta's biggest fan and here's why:
Okay, so I've seen a lot of people online who didn't like Season Three and didn't vibe with Oliver and Loretta's relationship and ,while I understand and respect that, I couldn't disagree more.
For one, Marty Short and Meryl Streep have insane on-screen chemistry imo, and they are also visually "compatible". It is established early on that they have a lot of things in common (love for theatre, tendency for ludicrous storytelling, "is the thing in the thing?", similar sense of humour etc), they even have some matching clothing items (Oliver's scarfs and Loretta's shawls). So it is obvious that the showrunners are telling us "Hey look, these two are very alike, maybe they would be compatible in a romantic sense too".
But the biggest and most important reason why I love this ship is that they see each other. Oliver was the first person to really see how talented and brilliant Loretta is, he is the first one to give her a chance and show her that all her life's work has not been for nought. On a more personal level later on, he proclaims her his "Lucky Durkin", he alleviates her of her insecurities of not being good or deserving enough and he encourages her to pursue her dreams. Loretta on the other hand, is the only one to really see Oliver's sensitivity and vulnerability, as shown in the second piano scene. Honestly, Oliver has been my favourite since day one and in that moment Loretta perfectly expressed the reason why: yes, he is loud and eccentric and he often serves the role of the comic relief but, in reality, he is a highly intelligent and empathetic person, and he has his own anxieties and insecurities like everyone else.
It was a delight to watch Marty act opposite Meryl in these scenes because I think he really nailed the surprise and delight that Oliver felt when Loretta told him that she really sees him for the sensitive, lovely man that he is ("You understand me, Loretta, and that has been a rarity in my life."). It is very subtle but you can clearly notice the difference in his acting when it's just the two of them. Whereas Oliver is usually chaotic and scattered, when he's alone with Loretta he is a more quite, honest version of himself.
Also, we got to see how wonderfully expressing and giving Oliver is when he is in love. He never hesitated to express his love and admiration for Loretta both in private ("I adore you, Loretta 'Lucky' Durkin, and everything about you", "I love you. I haven't said those words in a while but it felt right so I'm gonna say it again: I love you") and in front of others ("She's the love of my life.", "Doesn't Loretta look pretty?", "Anything for you, ma cherie").
All in all, after two whole seasons, my boy Oliver deserved to get some action too and I don't think there could have been a better choice for a romantic interest than Loretta. Can't wait to see them again in the new season and I really hope the creators won't fuck it up.

your post about eddie in this episode being seen through buck’s eyes… god i hope you’re right and it wasn’t just them writing their friendship badly haha
oh well, no matter what they definitely weren't writing their friendship badly! beyond eddie 'ignoring' buck there are plenty of other things that indicate we're only seeing eddie through buck's point of view:
namely, we never get eddie's point of view throughout the ep. we never see him alone with tommy, we never see him alone full stop, the camera never lingers on him long enough to give us any kind of indication of what he's thinking/how he's feeling, and for 90% of the ep every time the camera pans to eddie it's because buck is looking at him
and beyond that, with regard to their friendship, it's still very clear eddie is cares about buck. he's always happy to see him when he shows up unexpectedly to plans, he asks tommy if buck can come to the fight too, we find out through buck eddie is always inviting him to play basketball and he then goes on to ask chimney how he convinced buck to go since he usually says no, we find out through tommy that instead of being angry at buck for the basketball incident, eddie only feels bad because he understands why buck is upset.
imo, everything we got in this ep was very deliberate. eddie was both all over the ep and sort of outside of it too??? the latter because, again, we don't get his pov. the version we see of eddie in this ep is very heightened/exaggerated and i would say that's because everything he does/says is filtered through buck's feelings about him. but even still, his role (and christopher's presence too) in buck's life is clearly cemented by the end of the ep. tommy says as much when he tells buck that he could never replace him in eddie's life.
what happens in 7x04 (and in 7x05 next week) is new territory for buck and eddie and buck is understandably working through a lot but both ryan and oliver have already said in promo that it'll allow us to see them be there for each other in a way they haven't before and i personally cannot Wait to see how it all unfolds 😅

Actual incidents in the book that are in dispute btwn Louis and Lestat since you fuckers can't seem to read:
-Lestat wanted Louis for his plantation vs. he is in fact already rich: not really relevant to the show since show Lestat is flaunting the fact that he's extremely wealthy from the start. Louis is not under any illusion that this guy is after his wealth, HE moves into Lestat's house in fact and accepts Lestat's money/gifts/etc. Lestat is a captial p PROVIDER. He said do NOT take that away from me and it's one thing he's 100% right about.
Tumblr media
-A cold loveless relationship depicted in IWTV vs. a more loving though still troubled "marriage" according to TVL: again, more or less moot for the show since season 1 depicts Lestat's version of their relationship more so than Louis's. They are clearly in a romantic relationship, had some good times (that were maybe glossed over quickly by Louis but are still clearly depicted through Claudia's diaries) and yet even in TVL, Lestat agrees that Louis's account was an accurate representation of the atomsphere of their decades together and that he deserved all the punishment he got.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Lestat torturing + killing people for fun according to Louis vs. Lestat's claim that he only killed people who were "bad" and deserved it: kind of already played out on the show when Louis suggests the idea in 1x03, but ultimately it doesn't significantly alter our perception of Lestat cause does anyone actually care that prostitutes stole money from their clients and think that's a valid reason to torture and kill them? Hope not! It's just a good insight into Lestat's mind and how he justifies killing.
Tumblr media
-The events after Lestat's murder and Paris: these parts we have to take from Lestat's POV simply because Louis is unaware of things happening when he's not present. Obviously will be a major part of Season 2.
Tumblr media
-The scene at the end of IWTV happening or not: the most direct contradiction between the two accounts but this has not happened yet on the show so it has no bearing on anything in season 1.
Tumblr media
As you can see, most of these contradictions involve Louis's omissions in IWTV rather than "made up" events. Save for the final scene in NOLA that doesn't actually mean anything to season 1, absolutely nothing about Louis's depiction of events in IWTV is really disputed by Lestat. Louis's turning, Claudia's turning, the "atomsphere" under which they lived leading up to Lestat's murder and Lestat's murder itself are all indisputable. Lestat is revealing more of his motivations and giving us further vampire context/knowledge that Louis didn't have (because Lestat kept it from him btw and he forgives Louis his errors because he knew it was out of enforced ignorance), but that only slightly changes our perception of his actions. It does not throw them into the trash.
It's also very clear that Season 1 is already an amalgamation of the two versions. If they were taking IWTV literally, the show wouldn't even be a romance and it clearly is. It uses Claudia's diaries (a device revealed only much later in the books) to fill in some scenes that Louis may not have been present for like the kidanpping on the train but the two perspectives make the story kind of bulletproof? The reliability or lack thereof of Louis as a narrator is made possible by Claudia's diary being there as a secondary source and when he's at his most unreliable, it's the diary that provides the contradictions. WE see something's off when the diary's pages are excised. BUT you really don't have any basis in the books for a major lifechanging event like episode 5 to be retconned, let alone an event with two people as sources and involved a prolonged recovery period that's also described in painstaking detail by said two people. Like this woman was a lazy writer most of the time but even SHE wouldn't do that cause its like a basic writing tenant not to feed your reader horseshit??

PWHL Teams and Which Taylor Swift Era They are in
My sister and I were talking about how Minnesota Frost is clearly in their Tortured Poets Department Era, and that inspired the rest of this post. This is just a fun little thing I did, please don't take it too seriously or personally.
Tumblr media
(Also for swifties, I used the old versions of album covers as it refers to that era. Red TV is totally different than Red ya know.)
Minnesota Frost:
Tumblr media
Currently in their The Tortured Poets Department Era. Basically messy despite being on top of the world. The album came out after the raging success of Taylor Swift in her Era's tour and winning her fourth album of the year at the grammy's. This new album brings out snappy lines targeted at fans and revelations at how Taylor Swift didn't live up to the ideal many fans had of her. In Minnesota we had the recent firing of the favored general manager and drafting of a controversial player. You can't convince me that Ken Klee wasn't blasting But Daddy I Love Him, as he made all his messy decisions.
Tumblr media
Boston Fleet:
Tumblr media
Speak Now was a Taylor Swift era filled with spite and determination. The whole album was written by Taylor Swift alone, partially because her ex and some critics accusing her of not being a proficient writer on her own. After losing the Walter Cup, the Boston Fleet have the confidence that they can make it far and the determination to be better. (I also think spite comes naturally to Boston, not like they need a motivation or something.) This era is very youthful but honest, and I think that energy would be great to see in Boston next season. Someone blast better than revenge.
Tumblr media
Montreal Victoire:
Tumblr media
A personal favorite of mine, the Red Era of Taylor Swift had it all. Heartbreak, style, chaos, parties, love. This era was also risky and complex, Taylor Swift blended country and pop, bringing critical acclaim and a wider fanbase. Montreal has had a fun, but chaotic summer. Their draft picks are a fair mix of old and new. (With that wild Kessel pick) Their name and logo got rave reviews. People see the the good foundation the team has and are waiting in anticipation for what's to come.
Tumblr media
Toronto Sceptres:
Tumblr media
Reputation is a come back era, and Toronto has something to prove. Following a devastating injury to a star player, the team wasn't the same during the playoffs. This season they are going to have to show that they are still that team. Reputation is a fan favorite album and I have found Toronto to have the strongest fanbase. (They sell out most often and have the largest social media presence.) The team knows they are good and they have the support, they just need to rebuild.
Tumblr media
Ottawa Charge:
Tumblr media
Folklore is an era of surprising change. During Covid and following the cut short run of Lover, Folklore was an unannounced reinvention of Taylor Swift. It wasn't an intentional change, but one forced by the way of the world. Ottawa needs to find its grove and step into its own again. I haven't heard much from Ottawa on anything really, and I hope its because they got some cool alt indie surprise on its way.
Tumblr media
New York Sirens:
Tumblr media
Listen I am not only picking 1989 because it has a cool New York aesthetic. This is the era of leaning in and giving it your all. When Red didn't win album of the year, Taylor Swift decided to move to New York and reinvent herself. New York was last in ranking last season, but got first in draft. They have been working off season with insane draft picks and that somehow it worked out trade with Boston. New York has the star power, the New York city life, and the rebranding to help turn them into something new.

Possibly unpopular opinion (Or perhaps not idk): I love what they have done with Zuko and Ozai's relationship in the live action Netflix Avatar show.
In the cartoon we never get the ~vibes~ that Zuko has a complicated relationship with his father, only that it is abusive and one-sided in the sense only Zuko craves Ozai's approval, while Ozai straight up hates him, wants him dead or has no problem with him dying (Why doesn't he kill him if he has Azula? We don't know, plot has to happen, he sent Zuko to find the avatar in order to get rid of him, probably, or actually canon idk or remember), clearly prefers Azula to him as successor, etc, etc, etc (+ later the comics literally overkilled this trend "she was born lucky while..." omg stfu). Zuko is basically the perfect character to prove the fire nation is not all evil (Oh look, they hate him too, he is inherently their victim too from the very beginning).
So when Zuko switches sides in the cartoon, what I see as an adult rewatching is someone giving up on luxory, physical safety and... that is pretty much it. Sure it is a big deal to give up on those things to do what is right (Few would) and still awesome that he did the right thing in the end, but if you really think about it, he is not giving up that much, he is not giving up anything truly valuable to him. Respect? Honor? Sure he is said to have received it back after Azula "killed" Aang, but we never truly see it. For all intents and purposes his sister has that and wayyy more of it. His father's love and acceptance? Never had it, so he didn't truly "loose it" when he spoke up for those soldiers, got the scar and was banished, it is not really shown to have suddenly popped into existence when he was said to have killed the avatar. He literally had nothing in the fire nation, literally nothing. This could only make "doing the right thing" a lot easier for him, and for the adult audience (At least for me), his arc is just him realizing what is almost irritatingly obvious for us: That no one in the fire nation truly loves and respects him so might as well switch sides (Basically if we weren't also shown that Zuko is compassionate and does care about the horrible things the fire nation is doing, Ember Island Players would have gotten a bit of truth in it).
Now, in the live action, where do I even start? It has been so good so far when it comes to Ozai and Zuko. That man, if he hated Zuko in a cartoonishly evil way almost from birth, he sure doesn't show it. Don't get me wrong, he is just as abusive (Creepily so in many scenes, made me feel so protective of Zuko and Azula), but he is also shown to "care" about Zuko as in having some hope left that he can mold him into another powerful genocidal mini me. Is Azula winning by far? Ofc, she is still the prodigy, I am sure I am going to see flashbacks of favoritism later on. But Ozai doesn't yet seem to favor her in a way that makes Zuko's craving for his approval (Or even Ozai's hope in him as heir) hopeless. It seems, from his scenes with Azula, that Ozai foments the rivalry and competition between the two siblings not only because he personally thinks Azula is the best (Which he also might in this version), but also as a way of control through fear (Especially for prodigy Azula), and to make them (Especially comparatively weaker Zuko) "better", something this version of Ozai appears to think is possible EVEN when he banishes Zuko. Now, he might have done this "to get rid of him" as in the original, but in the live action he seems super open to and genuinely believe the idea that the exile could make Zuko stronger and better, not to mention worthy of the throne if he succeeds. Ozai treats Zuko like the heir despite favoring Azula is all I am saying. Zuko's actions are therefore almost impossible, yes, but not hopeless or even naive. And if this trend of Ozai's respect and "love" (Super on quotes) being achievable continues, Zuko's eventual turn to the good side will be much more powerful. He will have to give up much more after spending a summer with his abusive parent love bombing him for "killing" the avatar. Zuko's choice will be solely based on his findings about the horrors the fire nation has committed and not wanting to be the cause of more suffering even though he could have it all. Even though it was his fate to be his father's "mini me"-> Something terrifyingly likely and not so quickly discarded by the narrative itself as it was in the animated series.
I think the best part about this subtle change in the father-son dynamic (If it was the intention of the writers, I am aware it could have been unintended) is that the scar tm was a direct result of Zuko's compassion for those soldiers and not just the excuse Ozai used to banish him or "final straw" because he preferred Azula sooo much more, as it is pretty much implied later on in the animated series and comics by focusing so much on how much of a perfect victim Zuko was pretty much from birth. The addition of the 41st surviving because of Zuko was also pretty nice, and so is Zuko's relationship with them, he will need fire nation allies when he gets to the throne and this is a good start, something the animated series never touched upon much.
I am on episode 6 btw so my opinion might change. I will edit this post if that is the case. BUT my thoughts on these first scenes doesn't change, they are good imho
EDIT (And spoilers): I just watched Zhao’s revelation where he tells Zuko that Ozai would never let him return and he just wanted to use him to motivate Azula. It does change things and invalidates most of what I said, but taking out just this one scene, as I said, the Ozai-Zuko dynamic is great in this show, and also, Zhao is obviously not the most reliable source, because he was allied to Azula and obviously wanted to hurt Zuko, as he was losing the fight with him. There is also the fact that Azula wasn't watching Ozai and Zuko when Ozai told his son that he was being banished and that it was in part so he could get stronger etc, that was all for Zuko and had little way of serving as motivation for Azula (Unlike the scenes where Ozai praises Zuko in front of her, those could have totally been him bullshitting his daughter to motivate her to work even harder). So all in all this scene doesn't ruin the overall impression I had of the Ozai-Zuko father-son dynamic in the life action show. In fact, it could be taken to confirm one of my impressions which was that Ozai likes pitying his children against each other to push them harder.
EDIT 2: Ozai's reaction to Zuko's possible death is further proof imo that his “test” was very much real (even if almost impossible) and everything I said earlier still stands. He wouldn't mind that much if he died, it would just prove his “weakness”, and he is very pleased with Azula, but he didn't look happy or even indifferent when he learned the news.

Reason for Hope: A Gon and Killua Meta
I’m surprised by how frequently I see people saying that they think Gon and Killua’s story arcs are over for good; that we likely won’t see them again in the series, or if we do it’ll only be brief and they won’t reunite.
After spending years obsessively analyzing Hunter x Hunter, I disagree with this viewpoint, and I wanted to lay out some reasons as to why I anticipate an eventual reunion and reconciliation between Gon and Killua. This will be long, but bear with me!
The Separation
So, after thousands of pages of development between Gon and Killua, many things unfinished and unresolved between the two, at a point where the audience is expecting a big, maybe tearful reconciliation between Gon and Killua, instead we get…a mere 5 pages devoted to their separation. Many of the words on these five pages aren’t even dialogue between them, but rather setting details about the World Tree.
What we get is complicated; they seem on good terms, but it’s also somewhat fraught–they must have had a conversation before this, when they initially reunited, but Togashi opts to skip that entirely and only show us the aftermath, what’s happening right as they’re about to go their separate ways.
Killua teases Gon about that painful line where Gon told Killua it wasn’t his business, and Gon quickly apologizes, but this is a very light conversation where Killua is clearly prodding Gon to make him feel bad. In the original Japanese version, Killua then says that Gon “already (もう/mou)” apologized, which implies they did talk enough for Gon to apologize in another conversation, but clearly this prior conversation also wasn’t in-depth enough for Killua to explain how Gon was healed and by whom. I also assume in this conversation that they discussed parting ways, as their parting doesn’t seem to be a shock or surprise to either of them.
Togashi is known for his anti-climaxes to arcs–often he’ll build an audience expectation up, only for things to go a completely different way than what it initially seemed he was building towards. It’s one of the things that makes his writing brilliant. It applies to this scene, in a way, in that he doesn’t give us the big, cathartic, emotional conversation we’re expecting at this point, and much is left unsaid between the two boys. However, I don’t think Togashi’s tendency for anti-climax means that this is it, the end, all we get is this parting with ambiguity and Gon and Killua’s arcs are over. There are a bunch of questions left unanswered here, even though they’re not stated outright. The central one is: Why, exactly, are they parting ways?
There are a bunch of reasons one can come up with, both emotional and practical: Killua may need a break from Gon after all of that (because he feels unwanted/rejected by Gon or he just needs to heal, or he may feel it’s unfair to Alluka/Nanika to split attention); he may feel he can’t be with Gon and also fully focus on protecting Alluka/Nanika; he may be concerned about Illumi pursuing them and the danger this may pose to Gon; he may simply feel he has no excuse to be with Gon any more now that Gon is about to fulfill his mission and Killua found something he wants and needs to do (going back to the promise they made under the stars previously); he may feel he’s already failed at protecting Gon (particularly after what Bisky said in Chimera Ant Arc) and what right does he still have to be with him? It’s possible Gon has reasons for them to part too–we’re not given reasons so we have no choice but to infer. It likely could be a combination of these reasons, too.
It’s hard to feel closure with a parting that we don’t even entirely know the reason for, and I do think eventually Togashi intends to give us more answers. He even indirectly makes us a promise, through Alluka.
Tumblr media
I come back to this line over and over again, and I truly think this is Togashi reassuring the audience that this isn’t forever. I think that’s 100% what this line is here for.
There’s a lot of ambiguity in these few pages, between Killua teasing Gon in a way that feels pointed at times (the instance I discussed above, as well as the scene after Alluka says she’ll let Killua go, where Killua tells Gon he’s second place to Alluka), to the specific word (仲間/nakama, essentially teammate or comrade) Gon quoted from Kite being tied to Killua’s “friend vs teammate” concerns, and where we leave off is with a lot of tension and uncertainty even if overall they leave off on good terms.
It is made clear several times that neither of them fully want this parting to happen: Gon’s “I’d better go… Any longer and I’ll…” (Not be able to let you go, it implies.) Gon looks crushed. Killua agrees, also with a sad/resigned expression. Gon also says, “Wish you could go [meet Ging].” Both of their expressions change to sadness as soon as they turn away from each other. Neither wants to show the other how much this hurts. We get the sense that there’s a lot more they want and need to say to each other, things they’re saving for another time, once they’ve had some time apart to heal and grow on their own.
These are two of Togashi’s main characters, and the two he has spent the most time developing and portraying throughout the story. This parting is confusing, bittersweet, ambiguous, and unresolved. It’s dense and thought-provoking even in its brevity. It also doesn’t feel like a permanent endpoint.
Apologies
Ging tells Gon, “There are rules when you apologize to friends. You promise what you’ll do next time. And then you keep that promise!!”
Gon is talking about Kite when Ging says this, but even within the same conversation, Ging tries to tell Gon that what happened to Kite is not his fault. When Gon apologizes to Kite, Kite also asks “Apologize for what?”
I don’t think most of the audience blames Gon for what happened to Kite. The narrative makes it clear that Gon, Killua, and Kite were all simply outclassed by Pitou’s strength, they had been ambushed suddenly, and Gon and Killua fleeing was the only way they could survive. Gon didn’t even flee willingly, Killua made that decision for him.
So, why include this whole lesson on how to apologize to a friend, when neither the audience, nor Ging, nor Kite think Gon needs to apologize to Kite?
Isn’t there someone else Gon needs to apologize to–someone Gon did in fact hurt deeply with his actions?
As stated above, Gon likely did apologize to Killua, especially because he already brought up that he needed to in the conversation he had with Leorio in the car. Chances are, he did that as soon as they were reunited. But…also as stated above, there’s likely a deeper apology that Gon needs to give Killua; one where he fully understands what happened, and one where he can promise not to hurt Killua like that again.
I believe Togashi included this whole dialogue and conversation with Gon apologizing to Killua in mind, not Kite. We never saw this apology, and I believe it’s something that will happen when they see each other again.
Unfinished Plot Threads
While Gon and Killua’s original goals have been achieved, there are still a number of plot threads dangling for both characters. If the parting between them was supposed to be the end of the road for these characters, why bother building up so much unfinished business for both of them? Here are just some of the things in the story related to Gon and Killua that have not yet been addressed:
Gon meeting Gyro, which Togashi explicitly says is supposed to happen.
Gon fighting Hisoka again (assuming Hisoka survives the Black Whale).
What will happen with Gon’s nen? Will he remain nen-less forever or be able to restore it?
What will Gon do with his life now that he’s no longer hunting Ging? Hopefully not do homework on Whale Island forever!
Don Freecss and how he may or may not relate to Gon’s story.
Nanika came from the Dark Continent, something only brought up after Gon and Killua part. This gives Killua a direct link to the Dark Continent arc. How did Alluka come to be possessed by Nanika, an Ai creature from the Dark Continent? Will Alluka have this incredible power via Nanika forever (I suspect not)?
Illumi vowing to hunt Alluka/Nanika down, and also generally will Killua manage to cut ties with his family altogether, to have the kind of future he wants?
Kalluto, now with Illumi and the Phantom Troupe on the Black Whale, has mentioned wanting to bring his brother home, presumably/most likely Killua.
Gon’s mother or origin remains a mystery. While Gon himself didn’t want to know, that doesn’t mean the audience is satisfied by the non-answer.
While none of these guarantee a reunion between Gon and Killua, they certainly signal that Togashi is not done with these characters.
Killua’s Birthday
When Togashi gives his characters birthdays, he does it thoughtfully–imbuing them with both numerical and other symbolic meanings. Killua’s birthday is Tanabata, a Japanese holiday wherein two separated lovers are reunited every year. There’s an excellent piece of meta here that explores a lot of the parallels between Tanabata and Killua’s story and character trajectory, as there’s more to this than I can easily explore in this meta. Note how many similarities exist between the legend of Tanabata and Gon and Killua, particularly in the Zoldyck Family arc.
Gon and Killua have been separated once and brought back together again. With the legend of Tanabata, there are many meetings between the separated lovers, so the motif tends to lean towards them separating and then reuniting again, as they already did once in the Zoldyck Family arc. This leads me to believe that their parting is not forever.
Togashi Exhibition Promotion Video
As a lead-up to the Togashi Exhibition, a video showcasing Gon and Killua was released with newly recorded lines by their voice actresses from the 2011 anime, Megumi Han and Mariya Ise. The vast majority of the lines in this video are actually re-recorded major lines from the series summarizing the relationship between the two. But there are a few brand new lines. One of these is, essentially, “We’re so far away from each other right now, but I believe we’ll meet again someday!”
This video is a promotion for an exhibition devoted to his works, so Togashi himself must have approved this video. Why would this be one of the only brand new lines in the whole video if he has no intentions of reuniting them within the series? It would have been a simple matter not to mention any sort of reunion between them, but the fact that it was one of only a handful of truly new lines feels important and noteworthy.
Off-Screen
Just a small point, but one worth considering. At the end of the Yorknew City arc, Leorio and Kurapika go their separate ways as they fade out of the focus of the story for a while, only to be put in the same stage together once it’s their turn to be a point of focus again. (Never mind that they haven’t gotten much time together in this arc yet, but I’m sure they’re in the same place for a reason.)
One of the reasons Togashi may have chosen to separate Gon and Killua at the end of the Election Arc is that they, too, are out of focus for a while. This makes sense if you think about it–Togashi spends all this time developing the relationships between these two pairs of characters, having them remain together while the focus is not on them means the audience would miss out on developments and interactions between them. It’s easier to separate them and then reunite them again when it’s time for them to have the spotlight again.
The Little Detours
This is more abstract than the other points, but I think it’s just as important.
One of the most prominent themes of Hunter x Hunter is summed up in Ging’s words, “You should enjoy the little detours to the fullest. Because that's where you'll find the things more important than what you want.” This is what Gon learns when reaching his goal–that the most important things in life are not the achievements you make nor the way your journey ends, but the people you meet along the way, the enjoyment of the journey itself, all the places it takes you, continuing to seek more throughout life.
Gon meets Ging at the end of the Election Arc, his original goal, but is this truly the heart of Gon’s story? Killua finds something to do, as he told Gon he wanted to do, but is this truly the heart of Killua’s story? The heart of their stories is finding each other, the ways they changed and helped each other, the joy and solace and pain they found in each other. That’s ultimately what their stories are about–not simply achieving their goals. To say that their goals are achieved and their story is done now misses what Togashi is trying to say.
Hunter x Hunter is filled with characters whose life trajectories were changed by an encounter with one important person. Many of these characters also had their life trajectories changed by losing those people. Togashi can be a harsh storyteller at times, but I don’t believe he’s crafting a story in which his two main characters find each other and change each other so deeply, tragic circumstances and painful misunderstandings happen between them, much remains unsaid, and then they simply part, never be seen again in the story.
In my viewpoint, the only major obstacle standing in the way of an eventual reunion between Gon and Killua is Togashi’s health and how that affects his ability to tell what he has planned of the series. He has stated a commitment to finishing the series to the best of his ability, so it’s just a matter of what his body’s limitations will allow him to do.
At the very least, for all of the above reasons and more, I do think Togashi fully intends to give us a reunion between Gon and Killua in the future. I hope that in time, we will get to see him share the rest of what he has planned for these two characters.

IT'S TIME TO DISCUSS TFE S2A!!!
.
.
.
.
SPOILERS...OBVIOUSLY...
First of all, despite what some TFE fans have said, I gotta say, S2A has heavily exceeded my expectations! I was nervous because it did not get marketed enough (wtf Paramount+??!!) and because of the early rumours regarding certain things happening. But I thoroughly enjoyed most of the episodes (even the trailer filler episode). It really felt like I was watching S1A all over again. I found S2A refreshing and wholesome.
Here is a scattered list of some of the many moments/things that stood out to me...
AHHH! MO'S BRAIDS! Gah! I love them so much! I absolutely love her new hairstyle in season 2. Okay spacebuns! 🥰 Our little sweetie has grown up a bit and her new hairstyle looks so nice! I really like the attention to detail on her braids, her edges and baby hairs. You can tell that the character designers actually did their research on black hairstyles, and I really appreciate that because so many shows get it so wrong and they are just downright disrespectful.
SHOCKWAVE'S HESITATION!!!! HE HAD A CLEAR SHOT AND HE WAS GOING TO ATTACK, but then he just...didn't.
I was wondering how the weird tension between Shockwave, the Terrans and Malto Kids would be resolved. In S1C we see Shockwave working with the Terrans and Malto Kids to help take down Croft and her army. But you can tell that this was mainly because they shared a common enemy and because the season was ending.
But now even with Shockwave working under Starscream's command, he still hesitated and just let Twitch and Robby pass. He had the element of surprise, he watched them steal the shards and he could have easily ambushed them. He just...didn't. I am hoping that this gets explored further in the season and we get more of Shockwave.
BREAKDOWN CALLING AFTERMATH 'SON'!!! 🥺🥺🥺 And calling him kid!!! 🥺🥺🥺 I don't know, this is just so adorable to me. Regardless of the faction, clearly all the Cybertronians view the Terrans as children. Even though I found Aftermath to be very irritating, I thought it was really sweet how fast Breakdown tried to protect him and how he had grown to care for him. That fake father/son montage and the 'son' bomb took me out. I was laughing so hard. 🤣
✨️ALEX MALTO'S MAGICAL BOY TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE!!!✨️
I kid you not, I had to pause the episode because I was laughing so hard! I could not breathe! 🤣 It was so sudden! It was so smooth! Alex was READY! You know he's been waiting for the day that he can finally reveal his Magical Boy uniform! I love it! Everyone's reaction was perfect! Megatron was so done with Alex. 🤣
And Nightshade giving their father a boost after Alex struggled to climb up the wall during the race is just so wholesome! 🥺 I'm so glad we got to see more of Alex interacting with his children in this batch of episodes. He gave so much enthusiastic, concerned, loving dad energy in this batch of episodes, it was beautiful.
TWITCH VS SPITFIRE!!!
That was so intense! It was really cool seeing them fight and use their different abilities against each other. Seeing Twitch get competitive with her basically evil twin sister was fun to watch. Twitch's competive nature really came out because THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!! Loll despite how hard Twitch had to fight, she definitely proved to Spitfire and to herself that she is the 'better drone'. I found it interesting that instead of Robby being the one to point out that Twitch is really Spitfire, it was actually Wheeljack. It was nice that he used his Dad 2 nickname to confirm his suspicions. He's clearly taken a liking to it. ☺️But I'm glad that Robby had his moment to determine which Twitch is the real Twitch.
Swindle interacting with a human and not trying to squish the human??? Yeah, I was shocked when I watched 'The Butterfly Effect' and saw Swindle interacting with Fairmaestro. But then seeing Swindle basically try to swindle Fairmaestro was the perfect 'Aha!' moment.
I really like TFE's version of Cosmos, and I wish he had more than one appearance in this batch of episodes! He just disappeared after his debut episode, but I wanted more of him! His design is very nice too. He is a perfect round boi. But how the heck did he get captured by Fairmaestro? How long was he under his control? If he joined the Autobots after the Maltos rescued him, why wasn't he in any other episodes with the other Autobots? 🤔 But also, I love the way he handled Fairmaestro and dumped his ass in the dunk tank. Since Fairmaestro easily escaped Jon's custody, I wonder if we'll see more of him.
Starscream as the main antagonist. Hmmm. I gotta say, while it's refreshing that we finally got a new main villain, it's also disappointing that it ended up being Starscream. Starscream caused so much chaos in S2A and sure, it's Starscream. What do you expect? He's always been untrustworthy, violent and unpredictable. But really? Did he seriously have to go back to being the villain after he had a bonding moment with Hashtag? After he worked with the Malto family because he realized that there are much larger threats out there. I'm assuming that he had to fuck up shit in the beginning of season 2 to make way for a serious redemption arc later on. I assume an even bigger threat will enter the scene soon. I sure hope so, because Screamy hit an all time low when he brutally took out the Chaos Terrans. That was just...wow. 😨
Dot Malto being the 'villain' and spraying her kids with the hose during the competition was hilarious. We love a good badass mom moment. 🤭
Contrary to what some people have said, I actually don't mind the Malto Kids at all, or their new power upgrades. They've dealt with so much shit in S1, so it only makes sense that they will eventually get some upgrades and powers to help protect themselves. They act like how kids their age would act irl, so of course they're going to have their annoying, problematic moments where they get themselves into a lot of trouble. The only difference is, they have a lot more sense and they acknowledge when it's time to stop and get serious. Even though it's really obvious that TFE is marketed towards kids, I like that it puts emphasis on family, teamwork, and it has its fair share of cheesy moments. It's very reminiscent of TFA.
I really enjoyed Hashtag and Mo's bonding episode. Even though Robby and Mo have a strong connection to Twitch and Thrash because they are the first Terrans that were born, it's nice to see the Malto Kids interact with their other Terran siblings as well. We almost always see Mo with Thrash or Robby with Twitch, so to see different dynamics among the Terrans and their human siblings is refreshing. And yessss! Hashtag calling Mo her little big sister and Mo calling Hashtag her big little sister is just too great!
Hashtag's new alt mode is so shiny! I love it! It's a nice upgrade, and I like her new root mode design too. I thought it was interesting that she got a new virtual assistant with her systems upgrade.
Cyber-syncing!!! I feel like it was only a matter of time before it was introduced. Something tells me that we're going to have more moments when cyber-syncing will be needed to take down a foe. It was an interesting addition to the Terrans and Malto Kids' existing abilities. I wonder if we'll see more cyber-syncing combos, like maybe a Hashtag/Nightshade/Robby/Mo combo. Or a Jawbreaker/Twitch/Robby/Mo combo. Or just more cyber-syncing in general. I did find Jawbreaker's sync with Aftermath to be very forced and unnecessary. I get that he felt left out in that episode, but it just feels like it was so unnecessary to the plot and it just felt like bad comedy relief.
Overall, I actually really enjoyed S2A. There were only a few episodes and moments that I found meh, but for the most part it was a good watch and it's about to be on repeat while I patiently wait for Transformers One and S2B to come out.

Heyyy, can you write something poly! volturi kings +demetri, jane, alec, felix and santiago, about reader performing as an actor who has a murder scene and she has to kill someone and act crazy. Like they walk on set and see her covered in blood and acting crazy.
What would they do?
Could you make this lengthy?
Thank you darling!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A/N: Again, just to be stated very clearly Alec and Jane are the movie versions!
-S
+1000ish words.
TW: (fake) blood, (fake) stabbing someone etc., suggestive stuff. I can't think anything else right now.
Tumblr media
Staying in Volttera took a while to get used to. But you have grown to love it. You had quickly found a theater group who took you in as one of its members. After all, you needed things to do, while your lover(s) were working. The new piece your group was doing was one of tragedy and you had gotten a part of a jealous lover, who will kill the man after getting broken up with. So of course, for the premier you invited your lover(s) to see the thing that had occupied your mind for months.
Demetri...
After the performance you were left with your costume covered in (fake) blood. The performance had gone great, and you couldn’t wipe the smile off of your face. You talked to one of your friends when a pair of hands were wrapped around your torso, and your boyfriend kissed your neck.
“Demetri!” you squeaked, while your friend understood to leave the two of you alone for a second.
“You were amazing,” Demetri whispered and twisted until you were facing him.
“Well thank you my love, but look at you...,” You looked down seeing how the (fake) blood was now seeping through Demetri’s clothes.
“It isn’t the first time I have been bloody...,” Demetri whispers to your ear and gently bites your ear.
“Tell me, is there a possibility that you could get the dress to yourself, because you are so gorgeous covered in blood.”
Jane...
Jane comes to see the performance one evening after getting out of work. She even brought flowers to you, just because she loves you so much.
So, when you walked off to the backstage your lover jumped out of her chair and almost ran to the backstage just to see you again. When Jane’s eyes locked with you Jane gives up trying to be subtle and really runs to you stopping only inches away from you. Jane was always a bit shy around you when there were other people close by.
Jane couldn’t get a single word out while staring at you, dress covered in blood.
You let out a small giggle bringing your girlfriend back to reality.
“Are those meant for me?” You asked, diverting the conversation away from your girlfriend's cuteness.
“Yeah, I hope you like them..., do you?” Jane said, embarrassed to even look you in the eyes.
“I love them...” You said with a smile on your lips.
Alec...
Alec was so excited to see you after hearing of the performance for so long. And he loved every second you were on stage and after the curtain dropped, he ran backstage to see you.
You were trying to clean your face from the fake blood when Alec pulled you up from the chair and raised you to the sky and spun you around.
You had to giggle trying to hold on to your boyfriend.
“You were amazing, I genuinely believed every word you spoke.”
“Thank you, my love!” You thanked when you got enough air to speak, and Alec placed you back to the ground.
Alec kissed your cheek, getting fake blood on his lips.
“What if we go back to the castle and get cleaned up?” Alec laughed, whipping blood off his lips.
“Yeah, that sounds good...,”
Felix...
Felix was worried, he had a very strong opinion of keeping you away from the bloody parts of the world, even if the blood was fake just like the performance.
But he came to your performance. And he fell in love with you again when seeing you.
You were perfect. (I mean even more perfect than you were before)
Felix isn’t going to say it to you out loud, but you will get an extra passionate kiss after the show and a rare Felix smile.
After you and Felix go back to the castle, and you are lying on the bed with Felix waiting for sleep to come, Felix will tell you how much he loves you and how you are a great actor.
Santiago...
Santiago is so into seeing you on stage. He is at the front row, eyes glued on you when you are on stage, smiling even when you are stabbing your stage-lover.
He too will run backstage after the show ends.
The second he sees you; you are going to be pulled into a long and hard kiss, letting the fake blood mess his clothes.
You two kiss for so long that your co star tells you to get a room, so you two take your leave back to the castle.
Back at the castle Santiago will fuss about who good your acting was for so long that you fall asleep while listening to him.
The Kings...
Aro will be so happy to see you on stage. He clasps the loudest and in general is so happy to see you doing something that you love.
Marcus is a bit terrified to see you killing your scene partner but will appreciate the more calmed down scenes.
Caius loves it and will be the first one to kiss you when you get backstage. He just loves it. (Will tell you that because blood looks so good on you means that you should turn to a vampire.)
Aro will tell all the guards of how perfect you were on stage and they ask if they could see the performance.
All of the kings talk a while about the play itself and who was the worst actor (you were the best one, so that one isn’t even talked about).
But be ready to get a lot of praise and a lot of kisses.

Magnus Archives Relisten 17, MAG 17 The Boneturner's Tale, Spoiler-Free Version
Honestly, if my high school bully got their hands on a demon book I think basically the same thing would happen.
MAG 17 analysis, spoiler-free.
Facts: Statement of Sebastian Adekoya regarding a new acquisition at Chiswick Library.
Statement Notes: "Books are amazing, aren't they?"
The first line of this statement is so hopeful. Sebastian approaches what happened to him with this strange light pouring out of him. He takes on the world with a realistic yet deeply optimistic outlook. His character feels out of place in the Magnus Archives world because, although he's afraid, he isn't sick or sad or angry or desperate. Despite the horror he finds himself facing, there isn't any actual disruption to his routine, meaning he doesn't have to change in the face of danger. Adekoya is a static character in a dynamic setting.
As a book lover, Adekoya uses a lot of flowery language in his statement. He spends the first minute giving a speech on the beauty and power of language and the written word. He serves as an incredible contrast to Jared. They don't necessarily have conflicting beliefs, but conflicting focuses. Adekoya deals in the beautiful and abstract, Hopworth deals in the messy and real. Language is art, humans are meat.
Since Sebastian and Jared are around the same age, and Adekoya just graduated college, we can assume Jared is about 22-23 during the events of this statement. His characterization was very realistic. People often joke about hearing the bully of their secondary school getting arrested, but it's very different when you realize the violent but ultimately harmless kid you knew has become a violent and harmful adult. Often, that violent energy is turned against family members first. Those who tried to help, those who enabled, those who don't deserve it.
The end of the statement was very frightening. The violence enacted against Adekoya is a show of power by Jared and, in turn, The Boneturner's Tale. The Bonetruner's Tale holds an eldritch power no human can possibly understand. It is capable of enacting violence no human can understand. Its power is so great, we are left to assume a car killed Sebastian, because no living thing could do that much damage. Right?
In addition to Mike Crew's strange strategy of dropping the Leitner off in a random library, he chose to file it as Trainspotting of all things. This means that not only did Crew check out Trainspotting from the library, but he now owns the copy. Does this matter at all to the plot or metaplot of TMA? No. Does it matter to my heart? Yes.
I also noted how Sebastian didn't seem attracted to Boneturner at all. There's a motif with Leitners regarding them "calling out" to people and drawing innocents into their dark ways as part of the cursed object trope. But clearly, it's not indiscriminate. The isn't an apple of discord or ring of power situation; Leitners are capable of choosing who they want to attach themselves to. While I don't know much about the Canterbury Tales (feel free to educate me in the notes), it does seem that as the book makes Hopworth stronger, he makes it stronger by feeding its written desire for blood and violence.
Character Notes: Who speaks to their boss like that. Who. "Fine, fine, I'll be more lovely?" Tf? You sarcastic bastard?
This is a...weird intro to Elias to say the least. While of course Jon is being rude and they're passively sniping at each other, Elias does seem calm. He seems responsible and put together. He's not antagonistic in any way. If anything, Jon is the aggressor in the conversation. Up to this point, Jon has been the listener's only lens to view this world through. So when we are presented with a new character to compare him to, and Jon is snippy and rude, we are compelled to see this character as calm and rational.
Also Elias calls him "Jonathan." That doesn't mean anything but god to be a fly on that wall.

One Piece Chapter 1106 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
And we are back
Things are looking dire, but somebody's on their way, ally or foe, it may not matter in the grand scheme, everyone needs off this island
Let's see how they get out of this one
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release
Oda really has been hitting bangers with the cover page, this time Robin dressing a crocodile which works in multiple layers because 1. Robin <3 2. Robin with the thumbs up 3. Crocodile Surfer Dude 4. Reference to Robin and another Crocodile's past alliance and 5. Lacosta being a riff on the clothes brand Lacoste which has a crocodile on it (the logo used because René Lacoste's nickname) but also is loosely meaning 'the coast' in Spanish
But to the chapter, the Buster Call is raining fire on the Future Island
Luffy however stops being a little uncharacteristic, instant digestion and Gear Fifth back on the board, the marine grunts stood no chance
Luffy at least gave the courtesy of sending them flying off the island so they won't be burned to death
Back to the Bonney situation though, the Pacifista are ordered to kill all who are falling
'Shoot down this pathetic family' - choke to death why not Saturn?
Vegapunk however seems to have one more thing up his sleeve, having Atlas relay a message to Bonney
Bonney asks her father to stop shooting and help them escape
Bonney has higher authority over the pacifista! She has the army of Kumas!
The Mark IIIs are back on our side, thanks to Vegapunk's secret and admittedly selfish act of defiance, but one he knows will be costly
Saturn impales Vegapunk, though for someone who was all 'I'll know if you try to deceive me' he's been deceived thrice over
It's a pretty gnarly stab, but the heart is more on the other side so it might have just missed it, pierced lung for sure
Rough arc for Franky too; almost eaten by a mecha shark, his hero barely acknowledges him and tried to rob the crew, then there's more versions of his hero but they're all getting killed off, man didn't even get a chance to properly shine
Kizaru once again sticking to Saturn's orders, sending a flurry at the perpetually falling characters
Kuma's shot, while Atlas and Franky are grazed, Sanji given how he wasn't falling and was Sky Walking to Bonney has the positioning to block a hit with his foot
It clearly caused him some discomfort since all are shown in pain
Kizaru then goes for the close combat attack, ready to slice Bonney and Kuma down the middle in one fell swoop assuring her it'll be painless
But Luffy laughs back into the battle, giving Kizaru a giant hook punch
Luffy's DF also rubberized the ground, allowing for a safe, albeit bouncy landing
Bonney tends to Vegapunk as the ground shakes, the sound of the Drums echoing around the Buster Call, the sleeping giant stirs once more as Bonney recognizes the rhythm
She finally sees it, and connects the dots, as Vegapunk confirms that Luffy is Nika
Hearing that also causes Kuma himself to glance
But then, we see a very big ship, not one of a Blackbeard variety though
The Marines are scared, since the sailors are ones believed dead a hundred years prior
Dorry and Brogy have come! And are likely the 'they' from last chapter
And they've come to pick up Luffy, who they also know is the Sun God
Break next week but we can live with that one
When things are dire a small glimmer of hope reappears.
Luffy back in action for Round 2 is good and expected, we're just now gonna have to wait for Zoro to snap outta it and finish off Lucci like he should've done a while back, or at least explain why it's taken so long - like he already won but got lost or Hattori had a DF or Kaku also attacked or the Seraphim also attacked because they did kinda fall off given how they were defeated off-screen. Get Robin back on her feet and the Sunny safe, and also get Vegapunk and Kuma safe.
Bonney having higher authority on all the Pacifista is a good way out, albeit very drastic considering that it means the Navy's entire peacekeeping force is now under the whim of a 12 year old girl. And I must confess, while I enjoy it I can't deny that this twist was very similar to Tama turning the SMILE users against Kaido, small criticism though.
Dorry and Brogy coming is a surprise, but it definitely will help to bridge the arc from Egghead to Elbaf, given the giants' friendliness with Shanks and wasting of Kid's ship it can lead to some surprising dynamics down the line for the Land of Giants. Plus we can't rule out the Blackbeard ship still.
But for now it looks like Luffy is set to fend off Kizaru, which still leaves Saturn to be dealt with, but it is looking more and more like the island may in fact survive the Buster Call.

all those headcanons about Sirius being the favorite child, loved etc... It makes prongsfoot even more sharp and tragic?? Sirius gave up loving home bc their stand on pure blood, and bc he had James in his life too. Everything he had gave up for James, and yet Order believed he could betray him... Just man how... I will never understand
Hello anon ♡
To me, Sirius giving up his heirship status for new values and a better future is way deeper than James’ effect on him. Yes, James was a solid and effective presence in Sirius’ life but Sirius Black is not someone who changes his views just because of someone else, no matter how codependent. Sirius is open to discussions ( with that sarcastic tongue and sharp wit of his ) and is not biased. We saw it clearly in the flashbacks when James and him met each other in the Hogwarts Express for the first time. James was so fixed on Gryffindor without even considering any other house but Sirius was playful and open despite his family's long history of Slytherins and we saw his sharp wit and biting tongue with Snape, like he didn't miss a bit to put that sarcasm of his into motion. What I mean, here we can see the difference between him and James. Unlike Sirius, James doesn't have the power to wield his tongue like a wand to cut but he has the power of actions, negative or positive.
So, I get that James’ actions ( positive ones cause he does nothing but positivity when it comes to Sirius ♡ ) probably had affected a big deal, but Sirius has a Slytherin mentality plus his Gryffindor values. A lot of people probably disagree with me but I think that's what makes Sirius so interesting. Personally I think that no matter how much the Blacks hated Sirius’ house in Hogwarts, they still had high hopes for Sirius because let us face it, a Slytherin mentality + Gryffindor values and bravery equals a terrifying force of nature in one person.
Speaking of the Blacks, like many others, I also HC that Sirius was an adored child and was treated way differently than Regulus. Of course, both of them had the best of everything and their homeschooling before Hogwarts was top notch but Sirius was the apple of Walburga's eye. The difference between them was subtle, like proud nods Walburga gave Sirius when he came up with witty comebacks or sublime smiles when he shined bright among the younger generation of the Black family. Personally, I think Sirius was way more similar to Walburga. I mean, true, it is mostly HC but I can imagine that Sirius was a male version of Walburga in every aspect perfectly and that is why they clashed. I think they perfectly understood each other's values but they didn't understand why the other was wasting their talent/status/skill with the said values.
Although, being an adored child in the House of Black is different than other families. It was mentioned about James in the book that he had an aura of a well-cared and adored child but there was no such thing about Sirius despite him being an heir to one of the most important wizarding families. I think etiquette was very important in the Black family and showing love was subtle. Like I am sure Walburga would never squeeze Sirius in a bone-crushing hug like Euphemia probably would with James.
So, I don't think he gave up a loving home ( I absolutely am against the HC of Sirius being abused carnally btw ), I think he gave up an accepting home if he remained on the same page with his family because despite that Slytherin mentality I mentioned, Gryffindor traits ( and friends *read James Potter* ) would not let Sirius’ passion to settle into a type of loving home that the House of Black offered.
I think that the Order was not fond of Sirius, both the first Order ( which was kinda better, I imagine, because there was their school generation and marauders gang) and the second one. I am not sure if it was because of his family or what, but in the first Order we see the tragedy of James’ death and how easily they believe it was Sirius without a trial and in the second we see the whole mental weight of being on the run and the members’ bitter sarcasm towards Sirius and ngl, I don't understand how they thought Sirius would betray James.
To me, Sirius Black and James Potter are a love story. A beautiful love story that could have had a happily ever after but sadly most true love stories are tragic tales. They died young and unfulfilled, without a chance to experience the joy of a life without war or even a simple stress-free moment. James had to go in hiding with all that Adrenaline in his veins and waste away and Sirius had to stay away and then lament on why he had changed the secret keeper plan. Prongsfoot is a heartbreaking tale of what could have beens. 🥺
Thank you for the ask and sorry for the long rant, anon. ♡

Alright, let’s talk about Kalim (related to the latest comic), new official stuff, Idia being annoying and Lilia being possessive over Silver! And some other stuff, I think…
Anonymous asked:
So you seen the latest chapter of 7 ENG. If you do, any particular thoughts on two certain individuals with helmets.
We haven't watched ch7 at all yet, Anon. There are certain spoilers that are unavoidable, but since we didn't watch the story itself, we can't really say anything. We also don’t follow ENG updates, more on that in a reply below.
hipsterteller asked:
the only dorm leader who didn't overblot and same time the only sunshine
Yep, that’s our Kalim! He’s just here to have a good time :)
Anonymous asked:
Kalim, the only housewarden not to overblot.
Jamil, the only vice housewarden to overblot.
Aren’t they just perfect for each other? 🥰
Anonymous asked:
Good thing Jamil is not part of it...actually, I think he already did before the meeting.
I guess it depends on whether Kalim has asked him about how he is doing or not this day 🤔 Check on your friend, Kalim!
Anonymous asked:
Kalim (walking to his room): Oh, wow! That housewarden meeting was wild! Six people overblotting all at the same time... What are the odds of that?? I sure am glad to be finally back to the peaceful familiarity of my dorm, where I can rest after such a stressful day!
Scarabia student: Housewarden, please! Come quick-
Kalim (still walking): We're not doing this today :)
LOL sorry, Kalim, you have no choice but to deal with this, Jamil is clearly not dealing with this well on his own. Oh wait. Kalim probably shouldn’t intervene, he’ll just make things worse lol
asteampvnk asked:
Love your newest drawing. Although, to be fair, with how much Kalim gaslights himself that everything’s fine I half expect him to overblot.
I don’t know, to be honest it’s still very difficult for me to picture Kalim overblotting over anything other than Jamil getting seriously hurt because of him, but maybe it’s Kalim’s gaslighting that’s so powerful that it completely skewers my perception of his overblot chances…
Anonymous asked: I don't know why, but I find Kalim's eyes so cute the way you draw in the latest comic.
Thank you so so much, Anon!! ❤️

Ryuichi and Katsu, you guys probably only play the EN Version of Twist but i wanted to ask if you guys had heard of the new JPN Event 'Red Carpet in the Shaftlands'! Have you seen the new cards and outfits? Especially Vil and Azul look very handsome!
Hi Anon! We don’t play the EN version, or any version for that matter; we just watch the main story + events on youtube. We also prefer fan translations over the official ones :) This isn’t what you asked about, but I thought I’d mention that. So yeah, we did hear about the new event! Even though we don’t have time to watch events these days, we’ll probably and hopefully get to it eventually; so I have really high hopes for this one! I already said it the other day, but: show us Eric Venue god damn it >:(
As for the cards…

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW OUTFITS FOR ACE, JAMIL, AND AZUL!?!? I NEVER THOUGHT AZUL WOULD LOOK SO GOOD IN THAT COLOR SCHEME!
AZUL LOOKS LIKE A MEAN RICH AUNTIE, ACE LOOKS LIKE THAT ONE DOUCHE FROM A RICH FAMILY THAT ALWAYS ASKS FOR MONEY (AND HIS RICH AUNTIE DOESN’T GIVE HIM SHIT), JAMIL LOOKS LIKE THE MEANEST GIRL IN A HIGH SCHOOL MOVIE FROM 90-00S, AND IT LOOKS GREAT!!
Azul does look good, although I am a bit conflicted about his hairstyle: I can’t quite figure out whether I like it or am just okay with it; but even if it’s the latter, I’m always excited to see new hairstyles. And this shape of glasses looks so stupidly good on him! He is indeed very handsome, this style of clothing suits him a lot.
Vil is gorgeous, I can’t even yell about him anymore. The richest mom in Hollywood.
Ace looks very good; Jamil does unimaginable things to my psyche, I can’t quite put it into words. I think the colour scheme of the new outfits suits him the most, but I might just be biased.

Ryu they released the choreography of absolutely beautiful, did you see???? Im soso normal about it LOOK AT MY WIFE SPITTING BARS AND LOOKING ALL CUTE I watched it so many times already i was pacing around my room for an hour
I honestly can’t believe they did, this is so nice of them?? Now people can actually perform the dance themselves, this is so cool.
Jamil’s rap is one of my favourite parts of the song (original, I know), so it’s great to actually see him shine. But also? Also?
Epel short.

I’m so sorry but in reference to the ask about Idia getting into a verbal sparring match with someone: imagine they’re both getting ruder and nastier and then, they somehow end up in bed together????
YES this is basically how we write Sebek/Idia LOL But also Azul/Idia to be honest, these two argue and get annoyed with each other a lot…
This is one of our favourite tropes in general, and with Idia it suits him to perfectly lol He always ends up verbally sparring with someone and getting someone heated over the argument, it’s like he’s begging for it (absolutely unintentionally though).

Your art is really wonderful! (I love how you draw Lilia.) Sililia is a bit of guilty pleasure for me as well. I think you mentioned in a previous post about yanderes that Lilia’s trying not to get attached to anyone at this point in his life. So, if someone else were to hit on Silver or tried to woo him, would he reluctantly accept it? Or would he instantly act possessive once he sees someone moving in on his?
Thank you so much, Anon!! I am very happy you like our Lilia and that you enjoy his relationship with Silver <3
I think I talked about it in one of our previous LiliSil posts, but I’ll reiterate: in theory, Lilia would absolutely encourage Silver to spend time with someone else, even if this is just a little high school fling and not something serious. He does want Silver to socialise more and to have a lot of people around him, because unfortunately Lilia won’t be around forever, and he isn’t cruel to the point of wanting Silver to be loyal to him even after his death. That would just ruin the young one’s life forever, wouldn’t that be a waste?
But in actuality, I think Lilia would still get somewhat jealous and possessive if Silver found someone for himself. Lilia might try to rationalise it by thinking that he just doesn’t want any rascal to hurt Silver’s feelings, he might even enjoy acting like a strict dad for a short while, but he’ll very soon realise that he is just being super jealous and doesn’t want to share Silver with anyone lol It might be easier for him is Silver starts dating Sebek, at least Sebek knows his place… in Lilia’s eyes, at least.

*looks at violet art*
*looks at Idia art*
Now we need a universe where those two meet each other because I swear some alternate universe thing is happening here.
I absolutely should’ve replied to this one as soon as we got it, sorry for fucking up the chronology of this whole thing, for some reason I just couldn’t shut up about Idia and Violet LOL
Ah, these two. Artsy goth Idia and Otaku tech-nerd Gregory.
Honestly, I wonder how these two would interact. The easiest thing would be to assume that they’ll just sit in their own corners doing their own thing because neither of them is particularly chatty. Also, at first it seems like despite their similarities, they are the opposites of each other, because of the whole arts vs tech thing… but in actuality, Idia is one of the most artistic people in NRC?? With good taste and outside-the-box creative thinking?? Considering how much he loves a good design and how even Vil praised the ceremonial gear he made for Ortho. As someone who likes anime and stuff, he is definitely a connoisseur of art lol
So yeah, it’d be funny to think about them getting weird vibes from each other from the start, maybe seeing some of their own “bad” qualities and being annoyed by them, getting weird uncanny-valley feeling, but ultimately ending up creating something together. I just want them to create something together…
Although…both of them are such individualists, they might have creative disagreements and do their own things separately from each other. God damn it boys you were supposed to have fun interactions!

How does the relationship advice Max gave relate to childhood trauma?
I HOPED SOMEONE WOULD ASK LETS GO
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so this is the advice she gives to el, right? what i'm going to go into here is max's trauma about her parents' divorce and her feelings on her stepfather.
this is quite long so i've divided it in parts for you: part 1 which has two sections ('the divorce' and 'emotional abuse') and part 2 which has one section ('conclusion'). the first two sections are basically explaining what happened within max's family, the conclusion is how it all affects max and a tl;dr of sorts.
ALSO THIS IS NOT BILLY HARGROVE FRIENDLY, GO AWAY BILLY STANS
TRIGGER WARNINGS: discussions of divorce and emotional child abuse (nothing graphic)
THE DIVORCE
so, the first question out of the way: can divorce cause trauma? the answer is a quick and easy yes, especially in max's case.
Tumblr media
in the book runaway max, which is probably at least half-canon, max describes both her parents. her mother seems to be quite weak-willed, but still seems to just want the best for max. however, it is clear that max doesn't get nearly as support as she needs from her. max is an incredibly understanding and kind child, because she understands that her mom isn't really the supportive type, more like someone who takes care of her without the emotional support part. (NOTE: susan is NOT abusive. one of the reasons why she can't support her daughter is because they understand the world, themselves and each other in drastically different ways: susan cannot reach out to max because she doesn't understand her, and therefore cannot give her the emotional help or support she needs).
sam (max's father) on the other hand clearly understands max much better and doesn't question her boyish style or how she's Different than others (which could be autistic coding but thats for another day asjhshjs). in this case, he could be there, but he isn't, being too busy for her.
we can assume that max, as she was so young, was not given a talk about the divorce as a whole after the divorce had actually happened, given that her mother doesn't really seem the type for big, emotional conversations. she most likely got a simplified version of what was happening and why she'd be seeing her dad less because she was so young (around 8-9 based on max/billy's memories), which lead to misunderstanding and, as her father understood her more, she was naturally defensive of her dad (which is why we see her quick to defend him in the bus talk), and naturally a little resentful of her mom, especially considering she didn't truly grasp what had actually happened due to being so young.
this resentment would grow when susan starts dating again: in runaway max, it's mentioned that susan had flit from boyfriend to boyfriend, each of which eventually leaves because of personal issues (gambling, debts, etc). max sees this as a kind of betrayal to sam, and a complete change in what her family had been like - she would later know, around s2, that the cracks had always been there, and it was just a matter of time, but for now she's too young to think that her ex-family was anything but perfect, so she holds resentment towards her mom and starts to put her dad on a pedastal, as well as thinking that men are liars and cheaters.
EMOTIONAL ABUSE
then susan marries neil, and with him comes billy. max, at first, was hopeful that she'd have a family again after her last one broke, only to be let down very quickly. here's a heartbreaking excerpt from runaway max:
Tumblr media
billy doesn't treat her like a sister: in fact, he insists she's not his sister constantly, and emotionally abuses her.
'yes, yes, anthony, but what is emotional abuse?' i hear you cry. here's a definition from google itself:
Emotional abuse involves controlling another person by using emotions to criticize, embarrass, shame, blame, or otherwise manipulate them. While most common in dating and married relationships, mental or emotional abuse can occur in any relationship—including among friends, family members, and co-workers.
the parts in bold are the parts that are relevant to max herself and billy's abuse of her. here's some symptoms and signs of emotional abuse, as well as some examples of said symptoms, taken from healthyplace.com:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you'll notice that billy has almost all the signs and shows off many of the examples given, particularly in episode two. there's this great post by @madcleradin (hey sierra, tell me if you want be untagged) with my reblogs to show the examples themselves and this is the root of max's self hatred and self blame, but the very short tl;dr version is that his abuse of her affects her perception of others and herself in a negative way.
neil also plays a role in this - max probably thought he was just another one in the list of shitty boyfriends, except when things started getting more serious, she started to get confused, though she was happy when told that she was going to have a family again, because at the time she was still in the mindset that 'family = comfort' because again, she was never told what caused the divorce, which lead to her thinking it was sudden and doesn't alter her view of what 'family' just yet.
she was excited to have a comfort, excited to have someone to talk to other than nate (her best friend), because she still associates family with comfort. but when billy abuses her, at first she's confused on why family would treat family like this. that's when her view of what family means does a 180º.
because they told her that neil and billy were family, she started associating the word 'family' with violence, fear and control. as she grew up, this just got planted more and more deeply within her, all while she still resents susan a little for a) leaving her dad and b) marrying neil and bringing him and his son into their life, a decision which has only lead to fear and pain on max's half.
CONCLUSION
you may be wondering what any of this has to do with max's advice to el. well, dear anon and readers, i am here to tell you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in this, max isn't seeing mike as how she remembers him, and is thinking back to all those times those shitty boyfriends of her mom did the same thing, not realizing that it's not like that because mike genuinely does care about her and because they're fourteen (yk how when you're young you don't feel young until you look back when you're older? yeah that) it's not that deep yet. max has been thinking and calling the shitty boyfriends pieces of shit for years.
NOTE: max does NOT think mike is a bad person, nor does this mean she hates him. she just thinks what he did is shitty, but she clearly thinks he can make up for it (note how she says 'if he doesn't fix this, doesn't explain himself', which i doubt any of the boyfriends of her mom did). this is NOT a mike hate post, he's one of the characters of All Time, this is just about max's trauma !!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, this obviously isn't her talking about lucas (see here why honesty is a vital part of why lucas and max are friends), so max is almost definitely referring to her mom's boyfriends and can't see that mike isn't like those guys, as mentioned above.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is straight up projection. really, all of max's lines regarding mileven this season are just projection, but this really shows. i cut out the part where she says that if he doesn't explain himself, then el should dump his ass because that, as mentioned above, is because mike is still her friend (if tentative because yk).
she doesn't understand why her mom can't just up and leave neil, and so when she sees el who she probably subconsciously parallels to her mother (in runaway max, her book, she describes her mom as "her personality changing into every guy she meets", so she's scared of that happening to el) and so she unintentionally projects her desire for susan to break up with neil onto el.
she wants susan to break up with neil, but as she can't have that and she has trauma from living in close quarters to an abuser she's dealing with her trauma this way.
NOTE: she is NOT using el only for her own gains. she genuinely thinks this is good advice, if only because of her warped perception of love and her mother's (failed) relationships.
Tumblr media
this line is also evidence of max projecting onto el and mike, except this time she's not projecting her mom onto el, but instead herself. we know, via scenes in season two, that billy is extremely controlling of max. he gives her unspoken and spoken rules (unspoken would be don't speak back, don't blame him, etc etc; spoken would be the threat of what he'd do if she 'disobeyed' him). she has been controlled for a good near-half of her life via rules, especially considering we can presume neil also controlled her (although much less than billy did). she's been so roughly handled and controlled using rules, rules which she has to go by to survive in that household, that she literally can't see the tons of rules put on el being for her safety, because that's never how it's been for her.
a tl;dr of that paragraph: rules have been used on max with malicious intent for so long that max cannot recognize that the rules on el are for safety and come from a plce of love.
and a tl;dr for this whole essay: all of max's advice stems from her childhood trauma from her parents' divorce, her mom's boyfriends who were liars, and her abusive stepfamily
hope you liked this extremely long essay.... and aren't too upset when you asked for a page and i made you a book shshjshjhjss
yeah this was very long but i loved talking abt it, slr i've been busy but i've been excited to get this finished.
also... if im gonna be honest most of this was just me looking way too deep into what were actually just jokes abt female humor by the duffers and ik that but also like. its a trauma thing because max's experience of love and men is very different and shapes how she views them so ofc her relationship advice was off
anyways if youve read all that i'm platonically in love with you

Arrival
Here's my little bit of propaganda for the @tmntaucompetition before we really get underway!
--------
Leo took a breath before looking around. The last thing he remembered was hanging out in Japan with his bros and everyone else, now he was… somewhere else. At least his brothers were here, and so was Yuichi, Casey, CJ, Mona, April and Juan. They seemed to be in some sort of arena that looked vaguely familiar. Had Leo been here before?
“Wait, I remember this place!” Mikey cried suddenly. “Remember when we met all those alternate dimension versions of ourselves? It’s like that!” It took a moment for Leo to remember. That’s right, he had met a lot of other versions of him, a lot of them very traumatised. He hadn’t known about the Kraang back then, hadn’t known why the older versions of himself had lost arms or looked so haunted. He didn’t get why a lot of them had cried and clung to his brothers like they were the most important people on earth. Well, that part he understood, but not the crying part. He understood now. He wished he didn’t. Idly he wondered what had happened to that older Leo and Mikey he had hung out with, Angelo and Leon they had called themselves. He hoped things were going well for them, they were cool. “Raph remembers now! How are we here again?” Raph asked, looking around. “Isn’t it obvious?” Donnie asked with a grin. He posed and sparkled. “Clearly we’re some of the more popular versions of our counterparts. We’re in some sort of competition because we’re clearly the best. And with our more complicated designs and fashionable accessories–” he flipped the edge of his shawl for emphasis. “We’re perfectly marketable and easily recognisable.” “You guys have been here before?” Yuichi asked, looking around in awe. “Wait, do you think there are other versions of me here? What about Momo and CJ? April? Juan?” “I know we’ve seen other versions of April,” Mikey said thoughtfully. “And there were older Leo’s so there has to be other CJs here too, and Caseys are a given. I dunno about Momos and Juans though, they seem pretty unique to our universe so far.” “Of course I’m a given, I’m Casey Jones!” Casey cried, posing with the hockey stick she somehow brought out of nowhere. “And naturally, I'm gonna be the coolest of all other Caseys!” “Well we won’t know that for sure until we talk to some people! You guys wait here, I’m gonna see if I can find our friends from before–” Leo cut himself off as he glanced around. “Wait, I see some! Hey! Gemini! It’s good to see you again!” The two turtle twins looked over in unison. They glanced around before walking over, with the alternate Leo giving a friendly wave and the alternate Donnie giving a polite nod. “It’s great to see you guys again too. Didn’t think we’d be back here again, things have gotten a little… restrictive recently,” Leo Gemini said. Leo flinched, remembering that these two had been raised by Big Mama in their universe. That was something Leo could relate to now. He wondered if that meant they’d have more in common now. “I can imagine. Anyway, it’s great to see you again Gemini. Gemini. Hopefully we don’t get our asses handed to us too badly by you guys again.” He gave the twins both a nod and a bright grin before they wandered off. Juan stayed plastered to Donnie’s side, but his eyes did follow after Gemini Donnie appreciatively. Leo suspected that his Donnie was about to get a little more hostile to the witchy soft shell. “They seemed nice,” Mona said, peering after them. She hadn’t let go of Raph or CJ’s hands since getting her bearings. “But they seemed strong. Hopefully we’re not against them in the first round…”
“Well, since we’re here, let’s look around. See if we can find any familiar faces and maybe make some new friends while we wait for everything to start,” Raph offered with a grin. He squeezed Mona’s hand. “After all, we dunno who we’re gonna be up against and what we’re doing. Let’s get comfy before we get too caught up in the contests.” “Sounds like a good idea, big guy,” April agreed with a nod. “Okay, listen up! We’ll make this corner our home base, we meet back here in one hour or when the next announcement comes out. Got it?” Everyone nodded. “Great, now go have fun, make some friends and let’s make sure to win this!”
-----------
Angelo and Leon are from our friend @newellthedragon
The lovely Gemini twins are from the always remarkable @tangledinink

So with Legendary's new Pacific Rim projects, I think one thing that will affect their overall quality is whether they're trying to milk some kind of nostalgia. We've seen Disney try to do this with Star Wars, and it's just not working. (Hell, I personally don't even like the prequel trilogy, because the shallow nostalgia-milking was blazingly obvious to me even as far back as The Force Awakens.)
Meanwhile, there is a network trying to do their own big franchise type thing right now, and so far - so far, at least - they're killing it. That network is AMC, and the franchise is the Immortal Universe, based on the works of Anne Rice.
What's very notable right now is that AMC is not trying to milk people's nostalgia. Their version of Interview With The Vampire is wildly different from either the book or the 1993 movie, and that's the whole point. The creators of this show clearly have a very deep understanding of Anne Rice's work, and they use this understanding to create a new experience that captures the original spirit while also keeping old fans on their toes. Instead of trying to appeal to your nostalgia, AMC's Interview With The Vampire appeals to your curiosity and wonder. And it delivers with incredible storytelling and acting.
New Pacific Rim installments could be good, if Legendary was willing to put this kind of effort in. But the question is, are they?
I strongly doubt it.
They seem to be following in Disney's footsteps by trying to milk people's nostalgia. They've decided that Raleigh is out wherever, and somebody has to go and bring him back into the Jaeger program. This is literally how the first movie starts. Even if you like the character of Raleigh, you have to recognize that bringing him back this way is a big red flag that we're in for some low-quality storytelling. It's not that bringing him back is inherently a bad thing (its not); it's the clear lack of imagination and vision.
Now, while I think that Final Breach is pretty much guaranteed to be a Dumpster fire, I do actually hope that I'm wrong about the prequel cartoon, and they won't try to do this nostalgia-milking bullshit while ignoring the real spirit of the original Pacific Rim. If they actually put in the same kind of effort that went into Interview With The Vampire, it could actually be good. However, AMC shows are very much the exception, rather than the rule.
The one thing that gives me a very, very small amount of hope, is the fact that they're releasing a lorebook that we can already see includes lore developed during the PR1 development days. By doing that, they are a certain degree limiting themselves in terms of how much they can get away with mangling the lore without someone calling BS. They won't be able to pull a lot of the bullshit that went on in The Black, for example.
However, acknowledging the facts of the lore is a very, very different matter from acknowledging the spirit in which they were written. And with any possibility of a second Trump term ahead, do we really think there's a high chance that Legendary (who already gave us the bootlicking bullshit that was Uprising) is to put money into something that's going to take some kind of serious progressive stance?
So yeah, new Pacific Rim installments could be good if they tried to follow AMC's lead rather than Disney's, and work to capture the spirit of the original Pacific Rim rather than trying to appeal to nostalgia, but so far, all signs suggest that they're going to follow Disney on this.
