Sometimes I look over the last few years and am just kind of dumbfounded. How the hell did I get here, of all places? It's been a long journey, and it ain't over yet.

Sometimes I'll look at all the amazing artists I see on this site and just feel completely and utterly unqualified. Why would anyone want to look at art made by me? But learning to be okay with imperfection has changed my life for the better. The idea of "good" and "bad" art has strangled the love of creation from way too many artists.

I don't think it's bad to want to make something beautiful, I do think it's bad if that desire prevents you from making anything at all. Make something! Let it be ugly! Let yourself be new and vulnerable. Then practice, get better, and keep creating.

Art is subjective, but I know that there's always at least one person out there who needs to see it. Even the worst art in the world will have someone who connects with it, and who are you to deny them that?
