I promise you that there have been enough advancements made in the art of lesbian sexual dynamics in the past 50 years to broaden the vocabulary used to describe the plethora of types of masculine females.

#being called butch just reminds me of how much males have the freedom to navigate between male archetypes and how people pay attention to #the distinguishing features of these varying masculinities #but when a female is seen as masculine it all gets lumped under the “butch” category #her masculinity is seen as unnatural and therefore incapable of being considered genuine or taken at face value as it is with males.#its always brought into question instead of taken in consideration with the rest of the woman's life and experiences and her particularities #Hence... Butch is still being treated as though its a huge lesbian cultural phenomena instead of a specific niche thing #also i dont mean to invite the “you dont pass!!” anons again bc that idiot is missing my point entirely (which is that im truly not trying)#but the fact is that for the past 3 years i have found myself increasingly navigating the male social world #and discovering what it means to me as a female to have access to the ability to take my “masculinity” for granted... relax #forget about it #etc #i think thats entirely antithetical to the Butch thing which seems to rest on the tension of other peoples expectations of her #people broadly are more surprised to find out that im interested in women just as much as they're surprised that im a gym queen iykwim...#ive worked hard for this and now that ive gotten the Woman Social Role thing pretty much entirely out of the way i am living the dream #i think a large part of that is learning as a dyke to appropriate the language of gay men theres a reason their terminology had #staying power even when their scene was *literally* dying meanwhile all that seemed to survive from dyke spaces was butch n femme ??#its because theirs didnt necessitate the building and maintenance of a scene in order for the subculture to hold its head above water #their labels *largely* weren't predicated on their relationships to gender roles and its telling that for dykes it was #their labels rested on the need to simply show up anonymous n be able to easily flag whether they were looking to fuck or be fucked #alongside the set of circumstances under which they would be fucking or getting fucked or what have you #it all comes back to the restrictions of female social blah blah blah and i think the sooner we collectively set down what we see as our #responsibility as lesbians and as feminists to Be A Woman the sooner we can step outside of that #n start thinking clearly about our individual circumstances and the necessity of putting on your own oxygen mask first before helping others

#listen I adore my stepfather ok but he's got a pretty traditional view of gender #he's very respectful of others and doesn't enforce it on anyone else #and I think it's not that toxic all things considered bc he sees 'manhood' as being primarily about being hard working and protecting other #but it's still very gender essentialist #and he sees a lot of things as 'man things' and 'woman things'#and talks about skills and roles that are 'men's'#and I'm just like well but I do a lot of those things. but I identify with a lot of the things you describe.#and he tries to go around it like 'ahh well but you have personal history with that' etc etc #we get along really well tho we don't fight or anything but it's interesting to me #it makes me realize just how much I'm outside of the binary in the eyes of cis people #and how much 'trying to be a man' or 'trying to be a woman' are things that hold no emotional meaning to me(personally)#I could not care less what makes me masculine or feminine or if either of those labels are revoked for some reason #taking on the label of woman or man feels like a burden to me bc it always comes with a set of expectations #I just wanna be me yk. I just want people to see me through the lens of 'this is a person'#'this is what this person likes. this is how this person behaves'#I just wanna turn off gender. can I do that? like just flip a switch and no one perceives me as anything anymore #in a perfect world maybe #sleep.txt #I honestly still don't fully understand how I feel about gender but. sometimes it's like. i don't really wanna have an opinion about this in public because i don't feel that strongly. but a lot of people are having ill informed opinions about it and i don't feel i can offer correct information without also an opinion. so i just have to suffer

#this is about nanowrimo lmao #having been involved with nano for fifteen years i can promise it was always a website/organised thing #and there WERE reasons for the website to exist and the community of the forums was a huge part of it #now they totally fucked that up a few years back but originally it was a massive part of it #especially bc when i joined nano twitter was like... barely a thing?#there were so few ways of finding a writing community at the time #very few wordcount trackers you didn't have to build yourself in excel etc #it had reasons to exist at the beginning. i would argue it has much less reason to exist now #but it wasn't a subsequent 'cashing in' on a concept #anyway.#the reason i don't have strong opinions about the current fuckery beyond an eye roll #is that i already walked away from being invested in nano because there has been So. Much. Fuckery #this is a nail in a coffin I'd already accepted was buried #and i get that people are more likely to care about the ai thing #as like. symbolic of wider societal issues or whatever #vs grooming and harassment and racism and firing all the MLs #bc that affects people in the community much more than people inside it #but. look. if you're gonna expound upon it #consider that nanowrimo started in 1999 and forums were THE way to connect with people online #and the website as it grew in the 00s primarily revolved around the forums #and continued to do so through the 2010s #and that no it wasn't just a social media challenge bc social media didn't exist yet #there IS a reason nanowrimo has a centralised website and organisation #it wouldn't exist without them #bc I can't be arsed to explain this again #*more than people OUTSIDE it

imo yeah. smarter people than me have written dissections of the way he treats sam & others (he’s also Awful to his psuedo-son jack, but i haven’t gotten to that season yet), i’ve probably reblogged a bunch of them.

he certainly doesn’t mean to be & i don’t say it to condemn him as a person or as a character & i’m still very attached to him & he loves sam very much (not that that makes a difference in whether u abuse someone or not) - but the way he treats sam a lot/some of the time is emotionally abusive and sam is clearly badly impacted. s4 and s8 come to mind as his worst moments also ofc moc era - after that there’s less interpersonal conflict (up to where i am at least) but that’s because sam mostly stops disagreeing with dean not because dean actually gets much better <3 spn is cycles of abuse show after all. family is hell. dean’s learnt pretty much everything about how to behave from his abusive father and as a result. well. cycle continues

It's funny when people get really really mad when you don't view slugcats as almost-people or super intelligent when almost all evidence for that kinda interpretation comes from MSC, a fan-made and non-canon extension of Rainworld people are completely free to either build off of or disregard. Like it or not MSC handles slugcats very differently from base game and people can like MSC and dislike that vibe at the same time

#like i like msc but one of my criticism is that the animal protags feel significantly less like creatures #and thats both in feeling more like little special protags and also the way slugcats are as a whole are handled #because an animal that doesn't outwardly express huge tells of human like intelligence but still shows evidence of being smart like trading #with the scavengers for tools etc etc is fun and cool #i also find it interesting the way that #people interpet spearmaster learning some sign to communicate with suns as like them being fully fluent in ASL and not like #them potentially having a few tells theyve agreed to mean certain things #like you can train a dog to ask to go outside its not particularly complicated to learn bodylanguage #especially considering spearmaster is lab grown and likely doesnt know how to communicate with other slugcats

Repeat with literally hundreds of items (since I get bulk clothes at the bins and etc.). I have a lot of cool stuff that I thi #nk people into similar styles would want to buy. and I always need money to fund art and healthcare expenses and eventually moving to a diff #erent place someday. replacing broken electronics. etc. etc. So a wise decision is 'well sell a lot of the old clothes you have'. It is so #difficutl with my specific functioning issues though since it's such a long process and also packing things up. taking them to the post offi #ce etc. takes timing since I always have to be driven by roomates and stuff. etc. etc.#I think the way I was considering getting around this was to sell clothing in 'packs' like.. A pack of 5 or 6 matching items the same shade #of pink. or all green items with flowers so it's the same 'nature theme'. Or even selling full outfits or something. so that way I can kind #of bundle items. Instead of the effort of photograohing and listing literally 50 individual items. Turn them into 5 packs of 10. Or 10 packs #of 5. etc. ? But I think I never got too far with that because I was uncertain how that'd actually go over in terms of whether people would #buy groups of items instead of just individual. Especially whole outfits or something like. I think you'd get a wider audience giving people #more individual choice to choose seperate things instead of putting them together and going 'this is just what you get' or etc.#but I could also see it being cool. You already have some guaranteed stuff that matches. They have a theme. Especially if it's something you #like. remembering when the covers for the issue where amy and surge first interacted were coming out and people were saying they wanted surge to fall in love with amy at first sight and immediately decide to change so she can be with her . as in actually wanting that to happen in the comic not just as a fanfic thing . and sorry not to be a hater but i can't be the only one who thinks that surge suddenly becoming good because romance kind of would of sucked right .... like idk that just doesnt sound like a very good direction to take the story . sorry .

#i just have mixed feelings on the idea of a surge redemption arc in general #becuase surge and kit are some of the only current sonic villains i actually find interesting #so idk if i really . Want . for them to become Not Villains because then the villain lineup goes back to being mostly uninteresting #but i feel like romance being the reason would be . um .#im a big advocate for minimal romance in sonic . no stories that overly focus on romance #no canon couples outside of a few very specific exceptions that dont involve game characters . etc . so probably would not have liked that #and ill be honest and say i dont like surg/eamy but i dont ONLY dislike this idea because its amy specifically #i probably would havr disliked that storyline regardless of who the other character was . it being amy just doesnt help #and its not because i hate amy or anything i like her i just dislike like. 99 percent of ships involving her #because i get kinda tired of seeing her paired with every character under the sun #and treated as nothing but shipping fodder by a lot of people #(not saying everyone who likes an amy ship is doing that just that its a thing that happens)#especially considering how young she is and there not being many characters close in age to her. so theres an added layer of discomfort #and i also dont like the idea of amy getting over sonic by getting with someone who looks like him or is a copy of him or something #which isnt a thing that exclusively applies to surge but shes definitely an example of that #but like i already said . amy being the other character is not the full reason #i feel like im over explaining myself here but i also feel like if i dont somebodys gonna completely misinterpret what im saying #as me just hating amy or being homophobic or something and then yell at me in my askbox . starts shaking like a frightened animal

unfortunately i have found myself mildly captivated by a fancy caffeinated drink. this is bad bc I've avoided coffee all this time and now im being defeated. by $6 cold brew shake orz

#it's nice though #not I NEED THIS ALL THE TIME nice but nice for sure #save me $6 cold brew shake at library coffee shop save me #and my range of food's been limited by my go-outside-as-little-as-possible strat (<- exposed to covid) so a little variety is good #(i also got food im not counting this as like. dinner)#truthfully im reaching the point where i would probably be showing symptoms if i had it (unless asymptomatic)#im still being careful but i think i'll go get tested on friday or smth and that way i can actually know for sure #so i can start making the most of my meal plan. slamming shitty shitty cafeteria food #now that they'll actually LET me bc they cancelled it w/o telling me last week #and then this week i haven't been eating in public bc yk. mask #oh but side note the only reason i got this was bc i went to the library to get some work done and forgot my laptop charger #she was at like 20% so i was like sigh fml etc im going back. and im getting a sandwich. and then we'll try again #currently considering not trying again and sleeping this off instead #the library's open for another like 9 hours it'll be fineeee #anyway :p

time for my honest onion on bron/AD...

i think they are very compatible like either way you view it, friendship or romantic relationship. Like they are on kyle/demar levels of compatibility in terms of opposites attracting. Lebron is driven and AD is deep. Lebron is willing to investigate and explore any of AD's unique passions (like gta rp) even if it's very new to him or he has to borrow a shitty mic from his streamer son to do it 😭. AD is willing to go the depths of Lebron's wants and desires by seeing him more than just the crown status he has. He doesn't want to please necessarily, but to just help in general because their relationship (whether platonic or romantic) revolves heavy mutuality. I think people can be too hard on Lebron/too judgemental because of him having the spotlight and all the issues that surround that, so whenever AD doesn't perform well.. people blow the thing up into a huge problem. And while that IS a problem... i think their relationship builds off of having problems tbh. Not big ones but like small ones that you can consider accomplishments when they're solved. Their relationship is built off of constant solving VIA investigating, helping, and just tending to other's needs. They REALLY get closer together by actually. Getting closer together. And to get closer.. they need a little problem first.

Problem has this whole negative attachment to it, especially to people who live more comfortable, less competitive lives, but it's different for people like Lebron who's faced more options to deem definitions toward. Their relationship works on workable problems. Not to be confused with a big.. actual actual disruptive problem. Lebron is a big solver who turns into a big feeler when something isn't solved right and AD is a big feeler who turns into a big solver when something doesn't feel right. They work well with each other because they work WELL with each other. They compensate not JUST bcs they're willing.. but because they both see it as a NEED. They're both 110% devoted (afterwards) to help out on a problem.

BUT..... the whole thing with little problems... can be a Little difficult tho. Sometimes. And it's not about having those little problems, because those are unavoidable and in both of their minds necessary for greater development...

it's maybe.. Not having any little problems. At least with the other. It's the problem of 'what more can we do?' That makes them antsy. If Lebron somehow started out with AD from the beginning as a sidekick (and not kyr*e first) .... like idk somehow they get on the same team sooner.. the relationship would still be good because it IS.. i just don't know how long it will be sometimes (both duration and depth). BCS LIKE. Lebron came off of a lot of issues during and after kyr*e. I'm not a big follower of bron, so I can't go into details, but I am an empathizer with him, even as an MJ fan. Lebron loved sticking with AD despite everyone making fun of him for being LeGM. That gave him a conflict he could easily conquer by showing out and connecting with AD, which in turn strengthens their relationship. But to start off on a cleaner slate..? With less issues to work with him on and in turn grow closer with him?

In my opinion, it's a relationship that works best the way it was found. If you take it out of the timeline too forward or backwards.. it'll still be compatible.. but it won't be. it won't have the OOMF, u know?

which leads me to say..... i think it's a relationship that really has to be like. A 2nd/3rd one. Like a trying again NOT WITH EACHOTHER but with the self. You can't just HAVE it.. and it'll be.. IT, you know? It's a strong relationship.. but it definitely NEEDS other factors that aren't exactly from the self to make it work even stronger BCS IT ALREADY IS STRONG FROM THE SELF... there IS a connection and an ability to make that connection even stronger.. it just needs an external enzyme to activate that. They can't exactly just activate that themselves with them alone. They need at least a little something else to push them into shared goals.

SO LIKE I MEAN!!! I LIKE IT ! I DO !!!!! But i think I like it a lot more as good friends bcs idk... I feel like you'll just get that more the more you try to adjust the timepieces and whatnot. Like yeah, they're super helpful to each other when pushed to be, but they're always kinda helpful to each other in general and the fact that they need a push that's forced to be outside just.. idk. It makes the friendship go from a lot less magical to me and more mechanical.. there's more reasons and definitions for it WHICH SOME PEOPLE DO LIKE!!!!! I definitely like being able to say more stuff about things!

But idk... im kind of a sap for things being sometimes just like... u know! They besties! They love each other! Besties!!!

The whole addition of the need cycle makes it go from besties!!! To woooah! Here's a reason for why that happened and if that reason wasn't there this would not be happening ! And it's not some cute elaborate romantical story from the heart.... it's cause and effect or cause and rebuttal. IDK MAN like it definitely WORKS. But like. Me, personally, VERYY personally, i love when things just sorta WORK and u can't really explain all the how's (bcs there's more than one. It's a whole jumbled story and more and more reasons for them to love/interact deeply with each other) but it just kinda.. WORKS !

If the people were even slightly different, like if ad wasn't the person he was.. it would not run like that. So they DO need that kind of specific relation between them to get that relationship specifically to survive below the surface.. so I CAN see the beauty in that tho!!! I just like seeing it better in something more platonic like a friendship tho... but i do understand the beauty of the working relationship and I think that's nice too :) !! It works great for them and especially lebron lol, maybe it's Him....

yeah i think i've fully come to terms with the fact that i'm 100% somewhere on the ace spectrum lol
