Ask Ben Solo
What’s up, HoloNet! The name’s Ben. Currently 23 years old. I’m the only son of an Alderaanian princess and a Corellian scoundrel, and I have an adopted sister named Rey.
I started this blog when I was fifteen and afraid of becoming a Jedi. To make things worse, I started hearing voices in my head…voices that turned out to be someone who wanted to control me. Luckily, my friends and family got involved, and Snoke seems to have backed off.
I did make friends with some of Uncle Luke’s Jedi students, but I ended up attending the University of Naboo (Go Shaaks!) and got my degree in Journalism, since I’ve always been interested in writing, history, and politics. (Scroll back enough, and you’ll see my cringe pro-Imperial phase from back in the day. Yikes.)
I stayed on Naboo after graduation, and now I write for The Chommell Sector Daily. In my free time I lift weights, write poetry, and fight with people online.
Ask me a question!
—Ben

Mom: My mother, also known as Senator Leia Organa, also known as Space Mom, also known as Don't Mess With Her. Tough as nails. Also has nice nails.
Dad: My father, also known as Han Solo (or scruffy-looking nerfherder). Isn’t as cool as you think he is, but makes up for it with heart.
Rey: My adopted sister, also known as "Kid". Ten years younger than me. Originally from Jakku. Eats faster than anyone I’ve ever seen.
Uncle Luke: My uncle, also known as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Is a cinnamon roll.
Ren the Bantha of Indeterminate Gender or Origin: My stuffed bantha friend. Not much can be known about this humble beast, but they are fiercely loyal.
Threepio: My mom's protocol droid. Has foregone enough memory wipes to pass as sentient. Best ignored.
Artoo: Luke’s beeping trash can. Extremely rude.
Chewie: My dad’s best pal. Gives great hugs. Don’t play holochess with him.
Lumpy: Chewie’s son. About my age in Wookiee years.
Darth Vader: My grandfather. It's complicated.

Obi wan's love for Anakin is so tragic.
Obi wan was always loyal to the jedi code. Principles came first, loyalty to people second. He was trained since infancy to be that way.
And he did that till his very end. Even tho he was never the same person after the events on Mustafar.
For he loved Anakin will all his heart. He knew deep down how attached Anakin could be and how dangerous that was. He knew he loved Anakin in ways a jedi shouldn't have. He knew how it killed him on the inside when he chopped off Anakin's body, being true to his cause.
He is one of the selfless people in the star wars universe. He put ideals such as democracy, justice, greater good, first, even if it meant him suffering a great deal in the process and eventually dying.

ben 10 belongs in marvel and rex salazar in DC (analysis)
Tumblr media
@disgruntledexplainer widened my perspective on each of these characters so its safe to say that each of them represent a different value despite both being heros. In Ben’s case any kid could easily see themselves in Ben’s shoes because he’s a child who stumbled on a power which was up to him how to utilize, much like spider man with the whole “any one can wear the mask) thing. Not to mention that ben 10 ideally plot wise and writing easily fits in among marvel. I could go on a rant as to why Rex fits in DC but the point im trying to make is why Rex is easily one of the best characters to be inspired by Superman even if its not intentional. We know that every hero is meant to be a symbol of hope, but the truth is its only every properly effective if its during dark times. In generator Rex for example the plot follows an apocalyptic world where humans are at war with the evos. Living in such cruel and brutal environment, rex kept experiencing one tragedy after the other. In dark times people look for the light, rex could not find that because he IS the light. At first he did’ t realize just how much change he’s done. That the people finally had a beacon of hope, faith to believe in a better future because after all a cure was found. Even if it wasn’t a proper cure. Despite every tragedy Rex’s sympathy was too strong. Therefor he stood by justice even if the people were not grateful. Most people think superman wears a red cape and carries a S on his chest. But the people of genrex know he wears a red leather jacket and orange goggles.

"'Republican' theorists — as in ancient Greek and Roman republics — emphasized freedom from domination, and argued that this was a more fundamental kind of freedom than freedom from interference.
Think about the most extreme form of nonfreedom, slavery. A slave who’s whipped every day is certainly less lucky than one whose master hardly ever strikes him. His body is interfered with less. But is he more free? Proponents of republicanism would say no, because in each case the slave is at the mercy of the master and the same underlying relationship of domination persists.
Of course, ancient republican philosophers had no objection to slavery. They just wanted a class of citizens to be free from the whims of any emperor or oligarch. But in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, abolitionists, labor organizers, and socialists advocated a society in which everyone would be robustly free from domination. Even the elimination of extreme unfreedom through the Union’s victory in the Civil War wasn’t enough to satisfy these radicals, who saw disturbing patterns of domination in Northern industrial capitalism:
Emancipation may have eliminated chattel slavery, but, as eight-hour campaigner Ira Steward once put it, the creation of this new form of economic dependence meant 'something of slavery still remains . . . something of freedom is yet to come.'
Under capitalism, the vast majority of people who are directly involved in the economy don’t own what Marxists call 'the means of production.' They don’t own factories, for example, or book-packaging warehouses or grocery stores, and they can’t afford to buy any of these things. So they have no realistic option except to rent themselves out for eight hours a day — and it’s only eight hours due to the efforts of people like Steward — to people who do own them.
There’s a profound power imbalance in this relationship. Many workplaces are run as petty dictatorships where the boss can tell workers when they have to smile, when they are or aren’t allowed to talk to each other, and when they can and can’t go to the bathroom. In the vast majority of cases — exceptions include workers with rare and highly valued skills, and periods of especially low unemployment — it’s much easier for a company to replace a worker than for the worker to replace her livelihood. She has to fret about her boss’s opinion of her in a way that he doesn’t. Even if he is a benevolent boss, she is still subject to his whims."

thoroughly enjoying this quote (found in the latest philosophy tube video) because it really highlights why its so important to have things like mspec lesbians and trans men lesbians alongside cis mono lesbians... one definition of lesbian or gay will never fully encompass our full existence and rigid identity categories are a tool of the oppressor !
Text ID under the cut
TEXT ID: "Identity categories tend to be instruments of regulatory regimes, whether as the normalising categories of oppressive structures or as the rallying points for a liberatory contestation of that very oppression. That is not to say that I will not appear at political occasions under the sign of lesbian, but that I would like to have it permanently unclear what precisely that sign signifies...
Which version of lesbian or gay ought to be rendered visible, and which internal exclusions will that rendering visible institute? Can the visibility of identity suffice as a political strategy, or can it only be the starting point for a strategic intervention which calls for a transformation of policy? Is it not a sign of despair over public politics when identity becomes its own policy, bringing with it those who would "police" it from various sides?"

Five isn't usually the type of person who hovers over his siblings whenever he deigns to take them along on his various errands, or even when he decides to join them on their outings. He's kind of the complete and total opposite, actually, blinking away as soon as he reaches his destination, and leaving them to do whatever they like while he checks off the next thing on his to-do list. So long as they don't get themselves killed or get him banned from his favorite coffee shop, he doesn't particularly care what those idiots do.
That's all changed ever since Ben came back. Sure, Five is still just as quick to desert all his other braindead siblings in a public place and leave them to their own devices for a few hours while he completes whatever task dragged him out of the house in the first place, but with Ben...
(With Ben, Five doesn't mind the delays inherent in carrying out your day-to-day tasks with somebody else at your side. With Ben, Five doesn't mind the questions or conversations. With Ben, Five can't shake the feeling that, if he looks away for even a second, his brother will be gone, and these last few months will be just a bizarre and wonderful dream, and he will be Five without a Six again. With Ben, Five is afraid.)
So Five lingers at his brother's side long after they step through the big glass doors leading into the library, and takes him straight to the section he knows used to be Ben's favorite. Number Six will be excited to see the sheer number of new philosophy books they've added to the shelves in the last few years, and that, in a weird way, makes Five kind of excited about them, too.
"Do you want to just check out on my card this time, or go ahead and sign up for your own?"
