I think I've talked before about how Dean and Cas are generally reserved, quiet grievers. Bobby's words from 14x19 overlay Dean and Cas here, and though it’s primarily about Dean, it also applies to Cas.

And yes, sometimes Sam mistakes this lack of dramatic grieving as "not processing."

                              CASTIEL, EILEEN, AND LITTLE DJ ARE AT A LOCAL PLAYGROUND when Castiel's phone vibrates in the back pocket of his jeans. He brushes the sand off his hands and dutifully hands the little shovel back over to DJ, who promptly destroys Castiel's sandcastle with it, and pulls out his phone. "Sam," he greets the younger Winchester brother after seeing the caller ID. "Is he aggravating you, too?"

                               The roadhouse is slowly but surely turning into something they both like; it takes a lot of work and is physically exhausting, but Castiel doesn't mind. Unfortunately, the stress of tiling and painting and sanding off the floors also means that sometimes, they fight over the most mundane things. Yesterday had been especially bad — so bad, in fact, that Miracle had needed to sleep between Dean and Castiel because both had been still raging with anger. 

                              Naturally, neither of them was particularly eager to start with the next house project this morning, so they decided to split up for the day — Dean asked his brother for help while Castiel joined Eileen and DJ at the playground. It had been the right decision because Castiel wasn't really mad anymore (it had been a stupid fight), but the little jab was necessary either way.

                               "Uuuhhh," Sam makes on the other end of the line. "So, listen, he was kind of an idiot, and we're in the hospital." 

                               "What?" It's loud enough that DJ immediately starts crying. Eileen, who had been chatting with another deaf mother, comes over when she sees what's going on, shooting Castiel questioning looks. "What happened; is he alright?"

                               "Yeah, he's just been dumb and not careful enough, and now he's got a broken arm. Don't worry, he'll be fine, Cas. He's in surgery to get a fancy metal pin. I'll stay here until you get here. Can you grab him some clothes? I think he has to stay at least for one night."

Castiel gets to his feet immediately, stepping on his half-destroyed sandcastle and smashing it completely. DJ wails even louder, maybe because he had wanted to go berserk on the castle. "Yes, I'll be there as soon as I can." Not for the first time, he misses his wings. He could have flown to the hospital instantly. Instead, he has to rush to the car (after quickly explaining to Eileen what happened) and drive home to the roadhouse, where he finds a toppled ladder, a spilled bucket of paint, and scattered tools. Upstairs, Miracle tries to ask for pets, but Castiel pushes the dog aside and grabs some random articles of clothing and Dean's toothbrush before hurrying out again.

                               On the way to the hospital, he ends up stuck in traffic. Because of course. Growing more and more frustrated, Castiel imagines what else could have happened. Dean could have easily broken his neck instead of his arm. And then? Then the last time they'd have seen each other, they'd have said something semi-mean and snarky.

                               Luckily, he finds a parking spot close to the hospital entrance. Rushing inside, he finds a stressed nurse to show him the correct direction, and then it's easy to spot Sam towering above everyone in the hallway of the fifth floor. "He just got out of surgery," Sam says in lieu of a greeting. "The doctor said he's fine. Just needs to sleep off the anesthesia and have a cast for a couple of weeks."

                               "Thank God," Castiel mutters, itching to get into the room. "Can you–?" 

"Yes, I'll get Miracle and watch him today. Don't worry. Shoot me a message when he wakes up?"

                               Castiel nods, then gives up pretending that he wants to keep talking to Sam, and instead enters the room. There are two empty beds near the door; Dean is in one close to the window. Castiel drags a chair over and sits down, gingerly grabbing the hand of Dean's uninjured arm. The other is tightly wrapped, though not yet in a cast. Formerly, a simple touch would have been enough to mend broken bones. Now? He's helpless and useless, and he hates that feeling. "Dean," Castiel mutters when the hunter starts to twitch his nose and turn his head. "Can you hear me?"

I like to think that there’s an entire subgroup of angels who are essentially Heaven’s lawyers, and their job is to talk circles around Death any time one of the other angels brings someone back to life or heals a life-threatening injury that should have killed someone on earth, because there’s allegedly an incomprehensibly complex system in place that Chuck tasked Death with overseeing in his absence. Yet we see angels running around healing people here and there like it’s nothing.

They’re just in the background, quietly making trips to Death’s realm to negotiate Adam’s return to the living, and Mary’s return from wherever she was after her ghost disappeared in season 1. And those jobs, they don’t mind. They’re coming from the viceroy of Heaven and God’s own sister respectively. These are exactly the kind of jobs they’re meant to do. But then you have Castiel choosing to wiping away a genetic condition that was slated to end an infant’s life, and stationing entire troops of angels at hospitals to dish out miracles at their own discretion---which are not technically violating the “soul for a soul” policy when raising the dead (which the angels largely see as being more a rule meant for demons than angels anyway---the lawyers know you DO NOT want to argue that to Death), but still threatens the balance that keeps the system running. And that’s not to mention the number of inexplainable cases that Death has also laid at Heaven’s door, citing mysterious duplications of souls that Heaven insists are still very much accounted for in their ledgers---the likes of Bobby Singer, Celeste Middleton, and briefly, confusingly, John Winchester. For about a minute. They try to argue that they have no knowledge of any of these things being done, but Death merely points to Castiel, and reminds them that an angel was clearly involved, and Heaven needs to pay for it. At one point, a duplicate Sam and Dean Winchester appeared on earth, and the department nearly rioted. More than even Castiel, though, they hate Anael, who’s actually profiting off the work she’s heaping up on their metaphorical plates. 

And this is all to say that perhaps the reason no one went to save Dean in that final episode was because these poor lawyer angels---who I assume were the last five left in Heaven by the end---finally went berserk, and had Castiel locked up in a back room somewhere, because they refused to go down into the chaotic mess of what once was Death’s realm and navigate another uncalled for resurrection on his behalf.

Okay something just happened and i think it's important to talk about it.

This is about my, and only MY experience.

Basically i have bpd (quiet bpd to be exact) and i just spent my day with my FP (favorite person). It was a GREAT day, we laughed, talked about berserk, i offered them gift and made them listen to a song i made (oh and i also watched Supernatural for the first time :D).

So yeah i didn't saw them for like a few days before today and i can't really find the words to describe this but today was different, it felt better like i could talk and say anything, like i was on a cloud with them and that nothing could ever reach us.

But every good things come to an end, and i had to go home (in which i'm writing this rn) and i just feel curently so empty, like a part of myself was took (yes took, and not stolen bc i'm fine with them having it) by them and like i can only be fully myself with them. And so i keep crying and asking myself if i will ever be myself again without being with them, and i'm onestly scared.

I'm scared to loose them, i'm scared that i can never feel the way i feel with them again if they disapear, this happiness, this freedom that i've been looking for my whole life, i can't loose it. It's so hard to process how good can a friend that i don't even know since a year can feel, but i swear even heaven doesn't feel that good.

I'm honnestly not sure of what to say more but yeah i was trying to describe this feeling, and to explain the importance an FP can have and to not neglect it, please reach out to people that you know have bpd to check on them !!

(Also Supernatural was really great, Dean and Castiel are SO cute, and the episode at the SPN convention was something else, it was really funny to watch. I'm not sure if i'll continue it since i associated this serie's to them, and that i only want to know what they have to tell me about it, which is a lot)

Description: Y/N has come back to the bunker covered in cuts and bruises. She reassures Cas that everything is fine, but he knows that that isn’t the truth. He is determined to find out exactly what is going on.

You halted yourself just before heading down the steps to the entrance of the bunker. Hissing in pain, you took a deep breath to ready yourself and put on a brave face. You didn’t want anybody to find out about what happened, especially not your father. He would go berserk if he found out. 

Slowly you walked down the steps and stopped at the door, placing your hand on the doorknob and turned. Muffled voices sounded from the bunker kitchen as you walked down the staircase, careful not to make too much noise. The voices got louder as you walked closer, trying to tiptoe past so they wouldn’t know you were there. You were hoping that you’d be able to fix yourself up before they seen you.

“Y/N!” A loud, booming voice shouted you and your shoulders slumped. You pasted a brave smile onto your face, fiddled with your sleeves and turned back around. “Hey guys! How’s it hangin’?” Sam and Dean were looking at you with slight worry in their eyes, whereas your dad looked furious.

“Never mind that, where have you been? You know not to go out there by yourself, the dangers that lurk out there! I thought something had happened to you!” You smiled and placed a comforting hand on his trenchcoated shoulder. “Don’t worry, dad. I’m fine. Nothing happened, I’m in one piece. I just went out for a walk and lost track of time, I’m sorry.” 

You hugged him from behind, loosely wrapping your arm around his neck. Kissing the top of his head, you waved goodbye to everybody and walked towards your room. As you neared your door, you could feel the emotions you had bottled inside threaten to slip out. Limping the rest of the way, you slammed the door behind you; carefully climbing onto your bed and crying into the pillow.

You hadn’t realised that you had fallen asleep until the sound of your door woke you up. Footsteps and a gasp allowed you to wake up properly and sit up, wondering what happened. You looked at who had entered your room and it was your father, who was staring down at your arms. Following his gaze, you looked down and noticed that the sleeves of your jumper had risen in your sleep. Scrambling, you tried to pull them back down but Castiel was too quick for you.

He held your hands and sat down on the bed beside you, sadness overcoming his features. “Baby girl, what happened?” You looked away from your father and closed your eyes. You really didn’t want to tell him because you knew what would happen. “Princess, please tell me. I need to know.”

You shook your head and tears spilled down your cheeks. You felt so ashamed that you couldn’t protect yourself against them. With all of the training you had and the life that you lead, you should have been ready to fight them off, but you didn’t. “Do you want to show me instead?” 

Slowly nodding your head, you lay back down with Cas sat beside you. He leaned over and placed his fingers to your temples, finding the memories of what happened. 

Both anger and sadness wracked his features when he found out what happened. He pressed a kiss to your forehead and quickly stood up, walking out of your room. “Dad, where are you going?” Cas stopped and turned his head towards you. “To find my brother who hurt you, and make him pay. He needs to know that he can’t hurt my daughter to get revenge on me and get away with it.”

Your dad disappeared in front of you but Sam and Dean appeared in his place. “Where did your dad go?” You motioned them inside and over to your bed to explain what had happened. 

“I just hope that he doesn’t get himself killed.” Dean pulled you into him, allowing our head to lean on his shoulder. “C’mon, kiddo. Your dad’s made of strong stuff, he’ll be ok.”

A few minutes later, Castiel reappeared in front of you with blood splatters scattered on his trench coat. He seen your eyes widen and shook his head. “It’s not mine. It’s his. I just made sure that he knows never to touch my daughter again.”

Bottom line: what if the S8 opener was a coffeeshop au

I don’t think we as a fandom (spn generally, and samdean specifically) are really built for coffeeshop AUs but goddamn does glovered deliver. It’s mostly down to the ensemble cast—Castiel and Meg don’t have a ton of scenes but what lines they have are high-impact, and then there’s Kevin. Kevin has 1) the worst case of imposter syndrome an Asian-American overachiever has ever come down with and 2) a mega-crush on Sam. Dean is fresh out of Purgatory and here to help. It’s not toothrotting fluff but it’s not not toothrotting fluff iykwim.

This fic was like a pump of caramel syrup injected directly into my veins. I wouldn’t want, like, five pumps of it in a single latte, but the S8 rift between Dean and Sam really hurt me and this story was a balm. On a basic canon-divergent plot level Sam didn’t quit hunting and therefore Dean, when he returns, doesn’t take Sam’s rejection of the lifestyle as a rejection of Dean. On a meta level it eases my heart to see that the Winchesters are not radioactive to absolutely everyone they care about: Kevin’s most pressing concern right now? Passing macroeconomics. Castiel is not, thank fuck, auditioning to be the next Winter Soldier. Meg and her smart mouth are the light of my life.

Sam is a barista because Kevin is attending Princeton, and Kevin is Sam’s responsibility. Sam isn’t carrying around all this baggage of “I hung Kevin out to dry—yet another way I let Dean down, ugh,” and that allows Dean to come at being in love with Sam circuitously rather than devouringly (the way he does in canon). Dean comes at being in love with Sam through Kevin’s attraction to Sam:

”Does he seem..." Dean looks back to his paper. "No, you know what? Never mind." He's reading about some football game he didn't used to care about, when Kevin speaks up. ”No." ”Huh?" ”No, he doesn't seem." ”Really?" ”Really." Kevin screws up his mouth, watching Sam, too. "Of course not. He was worried sick."

In fact we learn that Sam went slightly berserker. I think “I went at the remaining Leviathans with the machete you gave me for my twenty-third birthday” is just as believable a reaction to losing Dean as “I quit hunting cold-turkey and clung to my grief like a liferaft.” I mean, just because it’s fluff doesn’t mean it’s weak on characterization:

”You didn't even tell anyone you had a brother," Dean says. The thought comes out of nowhere. Sam stills and then finally lies down again, but he rolls into Dean's side a second later so his face is close, breathing Dean's breath. "I couldn't even talk for three months. Let alone talk about you."

Dean is just so nakedly relieved to have his brother back:

Sam follows close behind him down the stairs and falls into step once they're on the street. They don't talk because talking before five in the morning has never been their thing, but Dean does look over once, three times, when they're not under streetlights, and Sam catches him at it. There's a lot of eye rolling, and it makes everything in Dean hurt that hurt of hope, of being alive and back and wondering where they're going to go now. He knows if Sam doesn't want to go he's going to have to stay here, learn to deal. They'll be together either way, no matter what.

Looking at S8 through the soft-focus filter of a coffeeshop au makes me wonder how much of Dean’s disappointment in Sam is disapproval he’s left the life, and how much is anxiety that he left (will leave) Dean. Dean’s never been able to separate his self-self and his hunter-self. He also—hilariously and very much in-character—has this pathological drive to ensure Sam’s physical safety that is in no way equalled by insight into the inside of Sam’s noggin. What I mean is: Dean thinks Sam wants to settle down in suburban New Jersey, when actually Sam gave his two weeks’ notice the minute Dean reappeared. Dean thinks Sam doesn’t know how Dean feels about him, when actually Sam probably knew before Dean did. Dean is an idiot.

This is Dean being blindingly jealous of some girl Sam casually dated at some point:

Kevin glares at the girl as she passes with a free drink. "She seems great and all. I just...don't like her."

Dean remembers that Kevin's the victim here. He feels a sudden, uncanny sort of compassion for him. Imagine being in love with a dude, only to watch him fall for some caffeine junky.

”You and me both," he says, and watches Sam go about his business like nothing out of the ordinary just happened. "Kevin, I got your back."

We all know Dean Winchester is the king of repression and denial but glovered’s light touch here is just. Everything.

They go on a vision-quest in the desert:

"Chill," Sam tells him, stopping to examine another plaque-style map on a wall.

”Don't tell me to chill, I spend months navigating the stump swamps of Purgatory to come back here and get lost in a—" Sam turns and puts a hand over his mouth.

”What's a stump swamp?" Meg asks.

”It's a swamp with many stumps," Cas tells her.

”I’m not dismissing your PTSD," Sam tells Dean in low tones, and doesn't let his hand up when Dean tries to deny it. "But I'm letting you know that you're overreacting."

”Mmph."

”Okay?" Sam asks.

Dean licks Sam's palm, but Sam remains unmoved.

”Cute," Meg says. "Are you going to give him a kiss or—?"

Lmfaoo

Did I mention that Kevin’s ex-girlfriend is alive and well and not attending her safety school??

”She broke up with me," Kevin says. "After the whole, you know. Kidnapping and mental break and stuff. She went to Stanford, anyway. But yeah, it bugged her sometimes."

”But you were into her?"

Kevin shrugs.

Dean's aware he's being a dick. He's just trying to figure out if the kid knows he's gay for Sam. "Probably wasn't First Lady material, anyway."

And like. Kevin’s ex not being dead or possessed, Kevin’s mom likewise being alive and not-possessed—it opens the door for Kevin to want things for himself beyond bare survival. The throughline of this fic is Kevin’s dream deferred to be president of the United States. Kevin thinks he got into Princeton because Dick Roman pulled some strings for him. Team Free Will has to hack into his admissions records to prove that this is not the case. I’m…not crazy about the meritocracy-is-not-fundamentally-broken assumptions embedded in this maneuver, but as a storytelling choice it’s A+

”I know how you feel about him," Kevin says, and actually has the balls to look sympathetic, like it's anything Dean regrets.

Dean glances at Meg and Cas, but they're having some random conversation, so he looks back to Kevin. Kevin leans back under the force of Dean's frown, but still says, "I mean, I guess with the way you two grew up, it makes sense. And I get it, believe me, I do."

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I guess Griffith (Berserk) comes to mind (probably because you're the person asking ha), but I know he's generally deeply hated in the wider Berserk fandom. I think the why of that is generally just Straight People in some venn diagram crossover with Media Must Be Morally Acceptable people.

Within fandoms that are... gayer? I guess I don't tend to have any super controversial favourites that I can think of. I tend to like fairly main characters and apart from occasionally I do tend to like not nice characters who do horrible things, so that has some awkwardness (usually from the Media Must Be Morally Acceptable brigade, but this time the Gay Side).

Since I've been into Walking Dead recently, I have seen a lot of very painful and dull arguments about Negan being irredeemable (because of course, if you do bad things, you can never ever ever do good and people are morally obliged to hate you for all eternity and you can't REALLY change or grow), so I guess I'll also say Negan to an extent, but he's also incredibly popular at the same time so. Hm.

Oh and from back in the day, there was a tiny little fandom for Hard Core Logo (it's still around I'm sure, just very quiet now), and there was quite a strong divide between people who hated Billy or Joe more, and I definitely am firmly on side I Love Joe Dick, which could get you shouted at because he's more loudly an awful person.

OH and Kylo Ren. TBH fandom is largely right to hate him, but I don't. I love him. He's horrible.

12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I actually have no idea, I'm sure as soon as I post this I'll think of an answer ha.

22. Popular character you hate?

I hate Steve Rodgers and Black Widow and like 50% of all Marvel movie characters and I'm painfully indifferent to almost all the rest (I like Harley Quinn and like Loki and Thor occasionally).

I don't HATE Castiel, but I DEEPLY hate the portion of fandom that's desperately into Dean/Cas and bayed for it to be canon, and that's kind of annoyed me to an extent that poor Cas is sort of tainted for me.

23. Unpopular character you love?

Griffith again? Hm. I enjoy Quark on DS9 and I think he's pretty polarising, ha.

I super love Trapper John from M*A*S*H, and he's also definitely one some people loath (especially in comparison to BJ, which is hilarious to me because you don't have to choose but like go off).

I also liked Shane from Walking Dead, who is definitely polarising or unpopular.

I think I tend to like a lot of controversial or unpopular ships (good luck y'all when you find out how much I love Johnny/Archie ahem), but as far as individual characters go I'm pretty conventional and tend to be a Main Character kind of enjoyer of media (I think because I'm so uncomfortable watching things when I don't like prominent characters I just don't watch them, so I tend to be pretty much on trend with who I like most).

Mind you, all those answers answered, I am A HUNDRED PERCENT SURE I forgot characters/fandoms I could have talked about, ha.

Also popular (widely in nerd culture + mainstream culture) and popular (fandom) are wildly different, this has made me realise.
