Above is Bela Lugosi (then going by the stage name Olt Arisztid) as Lord Henry Wotton, gloating and leering over his naive protege, Dorian Gray, portrayed by Norbert Dán, in a 1918 Hungarian film adaptation of the The Picture of Dorian Gray, originally entitled Az élet királya.

One Dress a Day Challenge
November: Oscar winners
My Fair Lady / "Ascot Gavotte" Ensemble
Year: 1964
Designer: Cecil Beaton
The costumes in this number are staggering. Not especially historically accurate in most cases, but bursting with slightly surreal creative style (there's something very "Dr. Seuss" about some of those hats). This may reflect the fact that Cecil Beaton first worked on the stage show, where exquisite detail is less important than making a bold impression on even the cheap seats.
Apparently, Beaton designed over 1,000 costumes for this movie, of which about 400 appear in this scene alone. See this article for even more photos.

I’m reading No Crying in Baseball, about the making of A League of Their Own (film), and it keeps making me tear up lol. It was such a novel experience for so many of these actresses to get to work with so many other women all at once and not just be like the love interest or a set decoration. They got to be tough! And dirty! And ugly!! And there was a lot of hooking up behind the scenes! But the part that really got to me was that the studio was so worried about who was going to see it, because it’s a sports movie and those are For Men (🙄) but they didn’t think men would watch “girls playing baseball” (🙄🙄🙄🙄), and then someone involved in production screened it for his daughters who were 10 and 6 and they went absolutely bananas for it, so the studio realized that this was going to be huge with young girls. And none of them had stopped to consider what having this movie would mean to little (white) girls. They hadn’t even realized it would mean so much and be so enduringly popular!!!

Netflix has attached Denzel Washington to play the ancient Carthaginian general Hannibal in an untitled epic drama that will reteam him with Antoine Fuqua for Netflix. That reunites back star and director who first teamed on 2001’s Training Day.
John Logan, the three-time Oscar-nominated The Aviator and Hugo scribe who knows his way around a sword-and-scandal saga with Gladiator, is writing the script.
Hannibal was a Carthaginian general and statesman who commanded the forces of Carthage in their battle against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.
