A deep sea friend: the blob sculpin. These are also known as "blobfish," which won the price for world's ugliest animal a few years back. Why doesn't it look like the blobfish you've seen on the internet? With bulbous noses and frowning lips and pink flesh? Those blobfish were dead and photographed after removing them from their seabed homes (1,600 to 9,200 ft deep) in the pacific. Reeling them up causes their bodies to rapidly expand because of the pressure change, which causes them to become pink and bloated. This blob sculpin rests peacefully on the ocean floor, staring up at the light of a submarine that illuminates it. Soon, it will swim off into the dark, hunting small crustaceans.

Modern Spongebob should make a Blob Fish episode. Where some human newspapers or something fall down into the ocean and everyone believes the "blob fish look ugly" propaganda. Then a real blob fish arrives in bikini bottom and they have to fight the stereotype,

It seems like every few years the internet just decides on a new animal blorbo.

Of course there are cats (the original blorbo), but since then dogs, blob fish, axolotls, bees, etc, have all had resurgence in memes and reactions. Now don’t get me wrong, none of these ever fully fall out of the spotlight (except maybe blob fish), but it seems like the internet hive mind just suddenly remembers that certain animals exist every once in a while, and then never forgets again.
