so no one was gonna tell me that baking to 40s music is basically a cheat code? I just made cheesecake and put on a vintage playlist, y'know, for funsies. and all of a sudden, lo' and behold. my mindset is that of a 1945 housewife in wartime America, baking for the husband who's visiting from the frontlines that I apparently have. I'm not even sure if that's historically accurate but by gods, is Sgt. Delaney gonna love this cheesecake.

Car dealership douchecanoe treated me like some unreasonable crazy person for inquiring about "why the fuck is there foam in the CD player. It is unusable. Inspect it and remove it." But I said it more professionally!
He was stuck on the mindset of "why do you care? No one cares about that stuff. CDs are not important. No one uses them. I'm middle-aged and I don't own any."
He'll take an actual look at it if I come back with a CD. Because using something with the same thickness just to show "yeah there is maybe a fraction of a mm of space in there." He is only doing this because I name dropped my dad (-_-;)・・・

Ok Closed Positions Dieter obviously has some very eclectic taste in home decor. I'm curious, what about his trailer when he's filming?
Tumblr media
Thanks for the ask about Closed Position, anon!
Sorry for the delay, I had to stew on this one a minute and dig up some inspo photos I had saved. You're probably going to get more than you bargained for on this question because I have thoughts and a shit ton of visuals. Sober Dieter is a whole mood that I had planned out before I even started writing this fic.
This is probably going to be more about Dieter's decor in his house, but the same things would 100% carry over to his trailer while filming (on a smaller scale). Let's also consider it an exploration of Dieter's camera roll because I do have some of these saved for his much loved social media posts.
Tumblr media
First off, he has art everywhere. His own and art from other artists. And you know he loves books and art supplies. He has a massive collection of both. And yes, his art supplies are very organized. He takes his craft very seriously.
In his home, there would not be any open space. It's either going to have plants, books, or a painting. When he said that Cora would cause bodily harm if he brought another plant home, he wasn't joking because they are every fucking where.
For his trailer, it may not be as dramatic as all that. He would take a few smaller pieces of art to display on a counter top. Probably the ones he finds relaxing. The plants might be a toss up. He may take 3-5 (maybe more) just so he can have something to keep him busy during his down time. He would have a small travel kit of art supplies that he keeps with him too.
Dieter also likes odd little knickknacks from his travels. He always looks for the most bizarre thing he can find so that he can tie memories to it to remind him of his adventures. Of course, he likes anything that looks like boobs or a dick...bonus points if it holds a plant. I think he would fill his trailer with any knickknacks he finds while filming before finally taking them home.
And for the eagle eye readers...one of those above photos is an edit with a teaser.
Tumblr media
The man is bougie as fuck. He likes plush textures, fuzzy carpets and blankets, and a comfy atmosphere. He prefers earth tones and deep colors. His home has sort of an eclectic bohemian feel to it with light colored walls and dark scuffed up wooden floors. He loves a good afgan floor covering too. He has the fanciest of cat trees and cat beds for Zee to match all of this, of course.
I think he would carry some of that style over to his trailer just to feel a little more at home. Maybe a nice furry rug with some soft throw pillows and an extra large fuzzy blanket. Maybe even a little hang out spot for Zee to come visit him on the longer days.
Tumblr media
This probably wouldn't apply to his trailer as much, but at home he likes to bring the outside inside. Now that Dieter is sober, he is a sucker for the beach. His home has big windows that let in lots of sunlight, which is just perfect for his plant babies. He likes to open the sliding doors to let in the sounds of the ocean and breeze blowing in the trees to help him relax. He he has lots of outdoor areas - balconies (covered in plants) and he has a nice little fire pit area setup in his backyard so he can watch the sunsets.
Tumblr media
And lastly, the man loves music. It's his favorite escape (besides painting). As you know, he has his "sanctuary" as he calls it. This room is full of vinyls and an old record player where he likes to sit in a comfy aged leather seat to listen. Sometimes he will even grab one of his guitars to play along. This room is full of plants and books too, of course. It also has a large sliding glass door that opens to one of his balconies (that looks like a jungle).
I imagine he has taken to keeping a guitar in his trailer as a way to keep himself busy. He probably wouldn't go so far as to haul in his vinyls and record player, but he definitely has a nice Bluetooth speaker to play his favorite jams from his phone as he prunes and cleans his plant babies' leaves.
Hopefully that sort of answered your question? Now you have an in depth look at Dieter's house. This is what you can visualize as you read about his nonsensical plant obsession. 😂
💜Mysty

📻⌛️memory lane ⏳📻, steve rogers x reader
Tumblr media
If steve’s heart stays in the past, he’ll miss the present. Thankfully, you like dancing down memory lane.
sfw, gender neutral
✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆ ✮⋆
You’re a little worried about Steve.
You’re not worried sick, he’s a grown man who can handle his own business, but you’re a little concerned.
You’d been hesitant about moving him in. Your apartment was comfortable and cozy with just enough space for that mountain of a man. You kept extra food stocked to account for his serum metabolism, a record player with some thrifted Billie Holiday vinyls, and you recorded all the movies on his catch-up list. It’s the perfect balance between nostalgic and new. Steve will be just fine.
Yet, you couldn’t help but wonder if he was actually happy here. Steve was quick to put on a brave face and a winning smile, but you knew he would need more time to adjust. What could you do if he was secretly mourning the 1940’s? You suppose you could make a water pie and give him a dime to go see a moving picture. To dig a little deeper, what would you do if Steve chose to go back? With the technology he’s around at work, it’s a genuine possibility. Would he ask you to go with him? Would he even hesitate to go home?
You work through these questions as you grab a snack from the pantry to drop into your lunch bag. Today was a rare day off for Steve, but you still had to clock in. Glancing twice at the cabinet, you cringed as the only snacks left for your man were airhead bites and off brand Takis. The red-40 might just kill the man out of time, but maybe he’s up to try something new today.
-
Steve blinks away sleep, expecting to wake up to the grit of old mufflers and the whistling of the paperboy. For a brief, sleepy moment, he’s back in Brooklyn and all knowledge of serums and sentient robots were a freakshow fever dream. These are the days Steve wants, more than anything, to run back. He sees pity in the eyes of people he passes in the halls, he hears the imminent “I bet it’s hard to adjust” before it’s spoken. He sees the new world, the great future that promised flying cars and healthcare, and doesn’t know what to do with the realization that not much has truly changed.
It’s these days that make Steve desperately want to run into his mother’s arms. Secretly, tucked so deep it hurts, Steve wants something of his own. He wants to hold a precious 5 cent butterscotch in his hand. He wants to bring home a little tin of Pomade. He wants to have a banana that doesn’t taste like shit. Steve wants the simple things he refuses to go back to.
“Refuses” to go back, not “can’t” go back, because he turned down the offer to use the Pym Particle machine.
Steve can return to the past, but no one will be waiting there for him.
-
Steve peaks around the kitchen wall when he hears your keys jingle in the door. He’s kept himself busy with the movies you recorded and even tried some of the battery acid chips you left in the pantry. For as much as he appreciated his day off, Steve was ready to enjoy the one person that didn’t force him to choose between eras.
He leaned against the entryway as you babbled about your day. He fished your phone from your back pocket and struggled with the controls before you absentmindedly opened his Spotify playlist. He pulls you closer with an arm curled around your back, cradling the base of your neck as he massages the tense muscle there. He sways to Fred Astaire crooning from your bluetooth speaker. Pressing his cheek to yours, he catches the perfume you raved about while yanking him through Sephora. The irony isn’t lost on him. Here, in your room, Steve can have the comfort of the past while having something of his own. Dancing with you, Steve knows it’s okay to stroll down memory lane. He knows you’ll be waiting in the present to call him back home.

Audio has been a solved issue for decades. I own a 1976 Sony TA-3650 amplifier. It's a powerful class-A solid state amplifier with very low (under 0.1%) distortion while pushing 55w per channel. It's great. I have absolutely no need to upgrade, my turntable (also a vintage mid-70s Sony model) sounds great hooked in through it, and it has an aux channel so I can hook up a CD player or my old DAP for streaming my music collection. If anything, it's maybe a little too powerful. When the -20dB switch isn't engaged it gets apartment shaking loud with the volume knob barely turned up. It's also so goddamn heavy that when I needed to have it serviced it was too unwieldy to lug around on public transit so I had to hail a cab. It's power inefficient, and it's massive. A modern class-D amplifier does everything my Sony does in a package that is a fifth the size and a tenth the weight. That modern amp is also much less expensive. In 1976 the Sony TA-3650 retailed for the equivalent of $2750 in today's dollars. You can get a fantastic, audiophile grade Fosi phono preamp and amplifier pair for around $300.
Speakers are a solved issue too, with DSP it's trivial to tune the tweeters and woofers to have fantastic crossover. This used to be exceptionally difficult to achieve and had to be done via a complex series of transistors and circuits and careful part selection. Woofers are better, tweeters are better, materials science has come a long way. As soon as you leave the "shitty wireless Bluetooth speaker" tier of the market it's easy to find stuff that sounds good. Look up a few YouTube reviews for the pair of "budget" speakers I use as my desktop monitors, the Edifier r1700s. People rave about just how good these things are (and not "fantastic for the price" but "fantastic period") and they cost less than $200. Ditto for headphones, if you really want to spend the money buy a pair of Sennheiser HD 650s for $600, treat them well, and never buy another pair of headphones again in your life. I don't like open-back headphones though, so I'll stick with the excellent Shure SRH-840As (which are $400 cheaper to boot). And meanwhile in IEM land, you can get really fuckin' good IEMs for $30 from one of the Chi-fi manufacturers. The 7hz Zero2s are exceptionally good, well tuned, single driver IEMs that retail for around $30. I bought Cate a pair and she loves them. I just wish they'd stop putting waifus on their packaging.
The guys who spend thousands and thousands of dollars on audio equipment that costs less than the equipment used to record the music they're listening to are genuinely the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.
