Books.
I love books.
Horror books.
Fantasy books.
Dystopia books.
Science fiction books.
Mixed-genre books.
Books I read as a child and I grew up on--ones that taught me things that I couldn't get from school. Old books--Robinson Crusoe, Moby Dick. Books that I wrote myself. One day, I hope to have a library full of books. No, scratch that--I want most of the walls in my house lined with bookshelves. I want my kids to never run out of books to read. I want them to know William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens. I want them to know tragedies and romances. I want them to love books as much as I do. I think it's very important for kids today to learn to love books. Because books hold not only amazing stories--they hold worlds.
They hold tears.
They hold laughter.
They hold history.
They hold legends.
Books are beautiful, and so unique in their own ways. I love the smell and feeling of the pages, how their covers get all worn out from sunshine, rain, being carried around and treasured. How, in older books, the print is messed up in some places. How the binding feels. The feeling of utter excitement as you start a new book that you found in some random bookshop a million years ago but you never really had a chance to read, but now you sit down, smiling, in a comfy armchair or a bay window as rain pelts down on your roof. I love that overwhelming feeling when you have so many books on your list but you're so excited to read them all. I love how stupidly attached you get to a character and how you feel dead inside when they're killed. How you feel so much joy when they grow up and have a family of their own. That feeling of depression when the book's over. It's crazy how you can love books, and/or the characters in them so much. How they can be your only friends. How they can be there for you through the worst of times. How you can dive into a book as an escape from reality.
Damn, I love books.

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS: THE BOOKSHELF EDITION
Hi there, bookworms. How’s your reading list for the month of October? Mine’s…. not really good. HAHA!
I do have a reading list for the month of October but I’m not really in the mood for thrillers that’s why I went back to reading romance novels. I’ve read newly published books by Elle Kennedy and Emma Chase which are really awesome novels and afterwards, I tried reading Kennedy Fox’s books.
I DISCOVERED ANOTHER GREAT DUO, GUYS! I read their completed series, BISHOP BROTHERS, which each can be read as standalone, by the way, and they are really good. I’m done with Jackson and Kiera’s story I’ll go and read the 1st and 2nd books. Hehehe! Anyway, I’ve been looking at my bookshelf right now (yup, I do that a lot) and I decided to share book recommendations from these paperbacks I have in my shelf, in no particular order, of course, classified by authors. HAHA!
Let’s start.
1. COLLEEN HOOVER
UGLY LOVE
Tumblr media
- this is my favorite NA book of all time. Tate and Miles’s story just sucked me in and now I’m stuck in reading NA novels. I probably read this for God knows how many times already. Ugly Love is my 1st book by CoHo as well. I bough it when during the #CTCinPH back in…2016? Yup. I wasn’t able to attend the signing because it was our finals then… So I just bought this book since it’s already available.
IT ENDS WITH US
Tumblr media
- this book talks about marriage and abusive relationships–yep. trigger warning–and definitely one of the most painful books I’ve read ever. I honestly fell in love with Ryle and I was just devastated. I really loved how CoHo wrote something as personal as this book.Like I’ve said before, all of my books has their own story as to how they landed in my shelf. This one has a different story. Quite fitting for a book as unique and personal as this one. I was so damn stressed at work. It was during our training, I guess? I’ve read that Colleen will be releasing another book (IEWU), so to relieve myself from stress, I started looking for this but it wasn’t available. For 10 consecutive working days, I visited National Bookstore for this book. I didn’t realize that the universe is telling me not to read this. My tears and broken heart is worth it, after all.
ALL YOUR PERFECTS
Tumblr media
- Another book that talks about marriage. There were sensitive issues in this book so this post also comes with a trigger warning (eg. cheating and miscarriage). This is all about a perfect couple in an imperfect marriage. My mom and I bought this book. She gave it to me since she dragged my lazy ass on a rainy day to check whether the documents she’s been processing are already available. Haha!I love all her books but these are the top 3 books I would recommend.
2. EMMA CHASE
SUSTAINED
Tumblr media
- yup, this is where I met my gorgeous, hot, amazing book husband, my one and only Jake Becker. A hot shot attorney who met Rory McQuaid, his brothers and sisters and their gorgeous aunt and turned his life upside down. Amazing read, ladies and gentlemen. That is the only book from Emma Chase in my shelf right now, thanks to my friend and my former workmate.I’m gonna hunt for the other 2 books wishing that they’d land into a second hand bookshop or I’ll probably just buy them online. :)
3. KATY EVANS
WHITE HOUSE DUET
Tumblr media
- here’s President Matthew Hamilton and his gorgeous first lady, Charlotte Wells. Another rare book right here. One of my favorite Political Romance novel. I got this book from Amazon.
4. SARAH J. MAAS
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES SERIES
Tumblr media
- I told myself to stay away from Sarah J. Maas’s books after what she’d done to my one and only Chaol Westfall, I, however, read the 1st book in this series before everything went down and I’m not giving it another chance. I just can’t say “no” to retellings. It’s Hades and Persephone, y'all. Something uncommon. So there you go.
5. MICHELLE HODKIN
MARA DYER TRILOGY
Tumblr media
- A perfect Halloween read. Kidding but, not really. Also, we have the awesome book boyfriend, Noah Shaw. Have you read this, go and pick this up! Oooohh! BTW, I haven’t read THE SHAW CONFESSIONS yet, I’m waiting for the last book before I dig in.
6. TAMMARA WEBBER
EASY
Tumblr media
- another rare find from a 2nd hand bookshop. If you happen to visit Baguio, please do visit Bookends. I’ll try to explore other 2nd hand bookshops and write an entry about them. Majority of my books are from here, you might as well check them out.
7. SYLVAIN REYNARD
GABRIEL’S INFERNO TRILOGY
Tumblr media
- this book is… hot. A forbidden romance novel and it will make you fall in love even more. Professor Emerson is just… perfect.Another set of books I got from Bookends. I swear that bookshop is like a secret cave full of treasures, you’ll be able to find rare books and get them through great deals.
There you go.
I might do a kindle edition soon but I need more time for that because there are tons of books on my kindle app that are really awesome.
I’ll also write a blog post about the unread-books I have on my shelf. HAHA! Yep, I still have a few of them, I’m hoping I could cross them all out of my list tho. I need new books to read!
💜,JL
PS.
IMPORTANT REMINDER, KIDS! These books are classified as NEW ADULT romance novels. They are suitable for readers 18 years old and up. Read responsibly.

You know that old book that you loved from your childhood and can’t bare to part with? The one that you’ve read so many times that the edges of the pages have worn to a velvety softness? You know the one, it’s been tucked away on a shelf patiently waiting to be picked up again? It’s the one missing it’s dust jacket and it might not be in the best shape after being carried around in backpacks or purses and having drinks spilled on it over the years. The one that embraces you after all these years like an old friend? That was this book for me. Reading this felt like coming home after an extended trip away. It’s a breath of fresh air after reading more recent fantasy books that seem to follow a formula.
It’s been at the very least, 12 years since I last read this book. I have to say, it’s just as gripping and interesting as I remember. I loved how everything was beautifully detailed and had such depth. It was vibrant and filled with lush settings. This book has really stood the test of time. It’s an epic adventure of grand proportions and it’s completely accessible to the YA audience. There isn’t an obvious love interest and when it does become a “thing” it doesn’t feel forced. It’s one of the least focused on things in this book (and the series overall). For that, I’m thankful. Fantasy books nowadays often have romances clogging them and taking away from the story. That’s just not the way things are in this book. Everything flows freely. Nothing felt forced or like it shouldn’t have happened.
Eragon and the gang are just as entertaining as ever. I loved that Saphira’s sass and her caring nature were so strong. She’s such a badass dragon! I loved Eragon’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge. He’s one of those people that need to learn things the hard way. I love him for that, and his sense of justice. He just wants to make things right and protect people. There is so much love that went into crafting this story and so much more love that the readers themselves have put into it. You can feel it radiating from the pages (and from the fandom).
These characters and this story were such an integral part of my childhood. It’s lovely to see that they’re just as I remembered and also so much better then I remembered. There was so much that I missed or had forgotten. Rereading this as an adult has let me see so much more of the little clues and foreshadowing for things to come. I’m glad to finally be getting back into this intricate world. I’m giving this a solid five stars.

So I just read "All the bright places", and I'm very ambivalent about what I feel and should feel about it. On one hand, being the emotional little bundle that I am, I of course got attached and fascinated by the characters, and putting focus on mental health is always a great mission for a book. So so so many great quotes from that book! However, what about the side characters that we barely see!? Is it realistic that all adults in this book absolutely sucks at adulting? Do I feel like the theme of super intellectual teenagers is already overused in YA fiction? Maybe this is a sign that I'm too old to relate to YA fiction, in other words , my discontent about a genre I previously loved, is just me getting old and gray??? Questions.

He y'all!!🤗 How is life?💜 What are you guys reading nowadays?🤔 . . . . So I know it is not exactly a bookish post but I had to tell you guys about this amazing app❤. . . . A few months ago, my friend asked me to read on Webtoon. It is an app where you can read graphic novels/comics/manga. Like books but with pics and stuff🤓. To be honest, at first I thought I would read the Webtoon original she asked me and I probably wouldn't like it so I would say it's not for me.🙍 ( I know I am a horrible friend😌) But God was I wrong!!😳 I freaking loved it!!!😍 It was so amazing that I can read so much comics on the app which were really good by the way.💜 Oh and the anticipation!!😩 You have to wait a week for a new episode and believe me you desperately want a new episode after reading one🙁. If you have money, you can buy a fast pass (meaning you can pay to read early), but if you are broke like me, you'll just have to make theories of what will happen in the next episode and survive😫. I fangirl about the episodes with my friend all the time and after each new episode, I die wanting for more🙇. I admit I don't like every comic, but there are many to choose from and sorted according to genre's too😯. So I have a whole list I have to read now. And I read on Webtoon every day (or when a new episode comes😃). The best part? Each episode takes only two minutes to read so if you have read all the other ones before that, and you have a busy schedule, it won't take much time!!☺ Which is a blessing for a college student like me tbh.😁 So I might post a few reviews of my favourite webtoon comics if you guys don't mind (but if you do I am still gonna do it anyways cause I love it😉) (No offense to anyone though🙏) . . . . Thanks for taking your precious time to read my post❤. Have a good day!!😃 (or night😉) . . . #webtoon #comics #books #bookstagram #booktalk #bookishlove #bookstagramcommunity #booknerdigan #bookblogging #bookflatlay #booksfrever #nerdlife #nerdgurll #novels #pakistanibookstagrammer #bookstagramofpakistan #booksareawesome #bookishfriends #bookworm #manga https://www.instagram.com/p/B5E8tjLgUBf/?igshid=vu39ezz0smkj
