AESTHETIC PREDICTIONS!

♡ trends/ aesthetics that i predict will come into style in 2022 ♡

1. pyjama/undergarments-core

In aesthetics that have passed through and come in and out of trend we have seen multiple staples that have surpassed through all the microtrends— these include corsets and slip dresses. In 2022, I predict that this will be played up on more, incorporating more silk slips, lace, robe-like duster coats paired with slips, fluffy pumps, and perhaps the rising of new items coming into trend. I feel in spring/ summer people will start styling bloomers, and for accessories perhaps headbands made to look like eye masks, or pillow shaped shoulder bags.

2. candycore

As trends recirculate, I cant help but notice the 2000s bandwagon missed a vital era in terms of y2k fashion, and that was the candyland aesthetic that we saw rise in the early 2000s and briefly make a comeback in the early 2010s. The best examples of this would be Fergies Fergalicious music video, or Katy Perry’s California Gurls video. This includes sweet inspired pastels and candy-like prints that mimic the likes of the swirls on a giant lollipop etc. The best place to take fashion inspiration from for this would be the Bratz Sweet Dreamz collection, looking at the mixture of brights and pastels against what compliments your skin tone.

3. Balletcore evolving into iceskater girl core.

Now this is one we may see later on in the year towards winter, as I do think ballet-core has got its nails gripped tightly onto the rise of girly/coquette aesthetics. However, I do think it’ll transform ever so slightly in terms of texture, colour and inspiration — no longer looking to the black swan for inspiration, using a palette of merely baby pink, white and grey, instead looking at girls that dominate the icerink, rhinestone/sparkly leotards coming into trend, and the iceskater girl aesthetic taking over pinterest. This way many elements of balletcore can be kept; tights, leg warmers and bodysuits and yet the trend can be recycled for a refreshed aesthetic.

HELP MEEEEEE I CAN'T FIND MY CHILDHOOD BRATZ. She came with a small tub of lipbalm and had a mini princess outfit I think? I got her for one of my birthdays so I think it would have been somewhere between 2003-2007 because those are the years I played with dolls that I was old enough to remember!! I love your aesthetic btw :)

If you've Googled it before, I'm sure you've run across the princess series, but I can't find any of those that come with lip balm!

My best guess would be possibly one of the Sweet Dreamz girls? Kumi in particular comes to mind, as her second outfit kind of looks like a "mini princess outfit!" :) I had Sierrna and also couldn't figure out what doll she was for the longest time! The Sweet Dreamz girls came with a little tub of lip balm/lip gloss shaped liked takeout and had a bunch of little accessories AND a second outfit!

Curiosity killed the Cloe: I’ve probably had close to 300 -if not more- Bratz heads go through my hands over past decade and the only ones I’ve had trouble with are the Pixiez who have extra hard vinyl heads and one Sweet Dreamz Yasmin... so when sis handed me a Birthday Cloe with burnt hair and she was ultra hard too: I tried heat then acetone and sharp instruments and still nothing: I had to investigate. What you’re looking at is a layer of glue that cannot be detached from the vinyl with heat or chemicals. Composition unknown I’ve not encountered anything like it: harder than silicone based glues and pretty much melded to the vinyl.
