It’s been something like 30 hours since I watched the fifth episode of X-Men 97 and about a dozen reaction videos because holy /shit/ it’s been a while since I’ve been hit this hard by television (Netflix’s Daredevil comes closest) and some thoughts?

- Mags could still be alive. No visible body, and someone did point out Leech’s ability to suppress the power of mutants around him. All we got was “Omega threat neutralized”, which could be because Godzilla Sentinel in that moment didn’t detect energy readings it would have otherwise attributed to Mags still being ‘alive’ or in the general vicinity.

- Which means the casket we saw in the trailer is more likely than not, Gambit’s. Unless they’re pulling off that one astral plane (???) scene where Rogue stops him from crossing over. Though this is a low chance given how the voice actor spoke about how bad he felt that Gambit had to die mid-season and the show heads had to console him over the fact that it was still a good narrative.

- But even if Gambit IS dead, it’s just bad business to keep him dead, and death gets toyed around with a lot in X-Men. There’s mention that because of his powers, there could be residual energy left over, and potentially, he could come back as one of Apocalypse’s horsemen? Which could be an excellent follow-up to how he died believing he wasn’t good enough for Rogue/“not a hero” but wanting to do everything he could to save her and Genoshans anyway, and it’s on Rogue now to reach out to him at his darkest.

Also I genuinely love the idea of him as an unassuming avatar of death, comes around to him constantly playing against the house and winning in his biggest bet against it.

Of course, I’m also biased because I love the concept of psychopomps, and because conquering death means we get banger bits like this.

Regardless of what your opinion is on my struggle iv, whether you agree or disagree with literally anything that happened in it, genuinely the most important thing about it is that mulder and scully made it out. Of everything. they made it out of the other side of their story.

I remember sitting down to watch it for the first time and i was so convinced they were going to die, or one of them was going to die, or something horrific was going to happen to pull them apart at the very last moment. but no. it didn't. they made it out. Of the labyrinth. of the conspiracy of lies. the absolute sheer relief that despite everything, in the end, the darkness didn't find them ?? that they were able to walk away from the cloud of cigarette smoke that had been hanging over them for twenty-five years ?? that they were finally free to live as they had always wanted ?? do you see why i'm SOBBING-

A thought that keeps haunting me: do you think Mobius and the rest of the gang know that Loki is in the tree? Do they even know he's still alive and didn't simply give his life to create this new Yggdrasil?

We can see the big screen at the TVA now shows the tree, and they have new posters with the tree (side note: where'd those come from?) but do they actually know Loki is there? The last they saw of him, Loki was disappearing through a tear in space and time with all the timelines. The audience is who gets to see his triumphant climb to the throne he never wanted.

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING could’ve been avoided if Cath didn’t go through the door.

Raven wouldn’t become a murderer again. Hatta wouldn’t turn mad. Cath wouldn’t become the Queen of Hearts. Jest wouldn’t have died.

I keep thinking of Cath reminiscing about Jest, feeling her heart clench and her eyes prickle with tears that want to shed but then I remember that won’t happen.

She traded her heart and now she doesn’t feel. She doesn’t feel grief or is ever able to accept and maybe move past Jest’s death because SHE DOESNT HAVE A HEART TO DO THAT.

That’s what fucks me up the most.

He’s dead and he can’t even be properly mourned by Cath. His “Justice” is Peter’s death and i feel like he wouldn’t have wanted that. Not if costs Catherine’s heart.
