I wanted to make a post shouting out some of my favorite creators, storytellers, and just general simmers from over the last year, mainly focused on ts4 since that's where my attention has been the most. Long post ahead so it's going under a cut. If you're not tagged please know I did wake up late today so it's not as complete of a list as I wanted it to be!!

@adelarsims - You are an essential in my mods folder!! I love how much realism and/or character your cc adds to sims, from things like the piercing holes to the wonky glasses to the mechanic overlay... Just so many little things that I can't imagine not having in my game or on certain characters now. Speaking of characters, your sims both original and premade are always so gorgeous, and I really enjoy your interpretations of wg and jeb. & Thank you for being WCIF friendly, I know it takes time to get that info but it's so appreciated, u've help me find some very beloved pieces of CC. Also the level of dedication u have to organizing your mods folder is incredible and you've inspired me a lot to get my folder's act together finally!! Which is SUCH a QoL improvement

@bearphase - I adore the bright legacy and I admire all the little details and effort you put into your posts, like fixing clipping issues, making icons and templates for custom careers or story events, ur creativity really shines through. You've also reminded me how fun NSB can be and inspired me to get back to it and my human enough gameplay and I can't thank u for that enough, it's got me sooo excited for future simming endeavors

@oshinsimblr - Long 1 incoming... While I've never been a sims 4 hater, like a lot of people I've still struggled with the gameplay aspect of this iteration, so it's been really inspiring to watch how you go about your game and immerse yourself in it, see all the care you put into your sims. I have to thank you for the videos you've made on it, like the one on how to make sims you connect to, season 1 of Lovesick where you went basically vanilla with the specific intent to show people how much you can do with imagination and what that looks like in gameplay! It's been literally game-changing for me lol and helped me to have more fun with my saves, even if they're not one of the rare few that starts out off the rails, I get more enjoyment playing it out until things do start happening outside of my control. & YOUR CC RECS!! I've downloaded so many of the mods you've recommended and I love how much they fill out the game. On the topic of Lovesick, I have not been able 2 get enough!! I'm so hooked lmao. Watching this series has really taken me back to the days when I was a teen reading like those particularly juicy drama-filled sims 3 stories you can't help but to keep clicking "next page" on, except Lovesick is so solid writing-wise. SO excited to see where Lizbeth is going in her life!!

@simandy - Your hairs have been an essential in my CAS folder for so long, and I've been so impressed with the evolution of your creations over the years. I've always liked your work but GODDAMN the quality always blows me away these days!! & I really, really adore and appreciate the variety! @squea - ANOTHER SORT OF LONG ONE BUT ... Your sims just POP!!! SO much character, and your edits and art r phenomenal. Corn is one of my favorite little digital guys I've had the pleasure of experiencing on line in all my years in the sims community reading stories and gameplay. If Cornelius has a million fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has ten fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has no fans I am no longer on the earth. If world against Cornelius, I am against the world. So on and so forth TBH you've also helped me have a lot more fun with the sims 4 talking about how you enjoy your game, and have a healthier mindset about my place in the community and connect back with the reason I made this blog in the first place, which was just to have fun and archive something I love, regardless of whether it got any attention or not! I started going MIA a bit post 2019 after really getting involved in the community, for Life Happens reasons, and naturally the lack of consistent posting for a while meant less eyes on whatever I came back to share. For a while I let that discourage me esp when a lot of effort was put into something, but after you posted about just genuinely enjoying ur game and loving what you made regardless of notes it made me realize what I was doing and helped me get back to that state of mind. Now whatever I make gets to matter simply because it matters to me, even if I post it at like 3am bc I'm so excited and no one ever sees it bc of that DHKDHKHSD. & I feel like I have u to thank for that!! @warwickroyals - Ok so first off your clothing is a STAPLE in my folder for my more wealthy and/or fashion-oriented sims! And as for the Warwick Legacy? One of my absolute favorite simblr stories I've read. I still remember when I started it, it was pretty late at night so I was just planning on reading a handful of posts and then picking it back up the next day. That did not happen I could not stop. Straight up stayed up the entire night bingeing all the way to the latest post (which was the Big Phillip Thing. I had to get up from my computer to pace I was having a Moment LOL) I've got some catching up to do but so far I think that's been my favorite arc. Aside from that your editing is beautiful, and I've always been a character enjoyer so I'm in love with how much thought you've put into all of yours, and the fact we get to learn so much about them. I think you do a really good job of balancing the cast and I really dig your storytelling style in general.

Today's (8/1/2024) Episode: Aging Up Is Hard To Do

After Noemi joined Luigi in adulthood, the pair struggled to settle into their new, older, stage of life.

Luigi had been busy after aging up, first grieving and then trying to make Noemi’s birthday perfect. When the vain sim finally checked his mirror, he was horrified by how OLD he looked. Wrinkles and bags under his eyes…!? The self-absorbed sim hated the marks time had left on his face.

It didn’t help his outlook that his eczema and anemia seemed to be getting worse, despite religiously sticking to his tried-and-true maintenance routines. He’d also begun to struggle with excessive thirst. None of it made it easy to meet his own high standards. Luigi was officially in a funk!

As for Noemi, she had finally set a date to start the job that Skye’s birth and her health issues had postponed, but it was messing with her head.

She worried that her social struggles would prevent her from making a good impression on her bosses and new peers. On top of that, her inability to exercise the way she wanted to since Skye’s birth due to her surgeries had left her carrying a lot more leftover baby weight than she liked.

The idea of facing her new co-workers and clients when she feeling far from her “best” kicked her anxiety into high gear.

When Luigi admitted his unhappiness with his new, older look and recent ill health it prompted his fiancée to admit to her own concerns.

Noemi suggested that, since Luigi was feeling under the weather, they start trying to tackle things with a visit to their doctors.

Hopefully, his primary care provider could help him figure out what to do to get his chronic conditions back under control and Dr. Valasquez could help her brainstorm ways to manage her anxiety.

Sadly, the outcome of Luigi’s healthcare appointment only worsened his outlook.

His symptoms and answers to questions about his general dietary habits quickly prompted the doctor to order a panel of bloodwork. This revealed that Luigi’s recent fatigue and dry skin weren’t the worsening of his long-standing medical issues, but a sign that he needed to overhaul his lifestyle once again to deal with a new chronic condition: diabetes.

To keep his blood sugar in a healthy range Luigi would now need to avoid many of his favorite breakfast foods and mixology recipes. He hung up the phone in shock, his natural cheerfulness unable to find any bright side to the grim news. Why did these things keep happening to him!?

Noemi didn’t fare much better. Her therapist wasn’t able to suggest anything she didn’t already know, leaving her no better off than before.

Grabbing a late dinner after putting Skye to bed the couple compared notes and tried to brainstorm. Luigi’s first idea came as he remembered how empowering it had felt for him and his cousins to curate their “new looks” after moving in together. Maybe, he told Noemi, they couldn’t change what was at the heart of their problems, but with a little “fashion magic” they could cover over them a bit. She agreed it was worth a try.

When he went on to bitterly joke: “At least my seldom sleepy trait keeps me mostly awake and alert. If only there was a satisfaction potion of chronic-illness-be-gone!” a lightbulb went off in Noemi’s brain. No satisfaction reward would help him, but there was definitely one for her weight concerns.

When Luigi saw the “Insta Lean” potion pop out of his fiancées inventory he placed a hand on her arm to stop her from chugging it down.

“What?” she asked him “It’s a perfectly safe one time reset. Now that I can exercise again, I’ll easily maintain a weight that makes me happy. Come to think of it, exercising more would be good for both of us. Didn’t the doctor say a regular fitness routine would help you manage your sugar levels?”

“Yes, he did” Luigi replied, “and that’s a great idea. If you’re spending points, do you have enough to pick up Seldom Sleepy too?” At her nod he smiled and continued. “Grab that, and we can burn the midnight oil together, going for late night jogs on the beach and early morning swims!”

Gesturing back at the potion his face got serious as he continued: “I just wanted you to know, before you drink that, that you are beautiful and loved just the way you are. If your new bosses or your bathroom mirror don’t appreciate you, I hope you realize how much I do.”

Noemi leaned across the table and kissed him softly. “I love you too. However much your love completes me though, I want to go into my new job feeling on top of the world. This expensive little cocktail will boost my confidence in the office Monday morning, when I’ll need all the help I can get!” With that, she tipped the glass back, letting the magical concoction slide down her throat with a cool tingle.

With their “fixer upper” plans in place the pair looked forward to a fashion makeover to highlight their new, more mature, and soon sleeker bodies!

@pixelbots another iconic TS3 simblr. STUNNING pictures, too- I wish my game could look that great! The Zodiac Legacy is also one of my favorite TS3 gameplays.

@muckleberri absolutely beautiful sims and pictures, and awesome gameplay! Definitely check out the Lepacy, Maxim isn't the nicest sim out there but man is he hilarious.

@akitasimblr two words: Harper. Legacy. One of the best gameplays out there- 11 generations in the main legacy, wow! Ana is also one of the sweetest people on here too, always showing love to everyone including my little blog🤗

SSR Dark Ripple is one hell of a story filled with tension, drama, intrigue, passion etc etc and i adore it. but then i was chatting with @samsspambox they were like "hey where was aaron during this card? aaron is probably up in luke's communicator" and thats the best thing ever cuz 1) it makes sense because aaron is luke's partner for NSB missions and 2) it makes the entire story of SSR Dark Ripple like, so much funnier

Quick bio under the cut

Rita Baya had a tough childhood growing up without parents, bouncing from foster home to foster home. While surrounded by difficult circumstances, Nyanza made it through with her bright and mischievous nature. Her mischievousness, while it kept her happy, was often the reason for her being moved to new homes.

Though she has a silly personality, her love of science is quite serious, motivating her to work hard in her career. While her career was fulfilling, she wanted someone to share her life with, which she found in the lively litigator Shanice. Their love bloomed quickly and before the knew it they were married and buying a home in Oasis Springs.

After serious discussion, they went through the in vitro fertilization process. Before long they welcomed their son, Carmine to the world. Finally gaining the family she never had, she worried whether how she would provide a good life for her son when she was so invested in her career. However, working together for their family, they managed to raise Carmine and their second child, Jasper, to the best of their ability.

Until the end, Rita lived for science, mischief, and most importantly her family.

(Takes place between chapters nine and ten of VBPS- and after the events of NSB.)

You wake up...not in bed. Actually, you don't recognize any of your surroundings. You're in a living room, that much you know, but...you realize that whatever you're leaning on is alive. Slowly, you look up, heart starting to pound. It's Papyrus. But...not? He doesn't have sharp teeth. Instead, they're only chipped. He has both eye sockets too.

"Wh-wha-" you begin, and he looks down at you. To your utter shock, he smiles. Not a slight, passing smile- not one he's forcing down- a genuine smile, warm and bright. You throw yourself off of the couch and hit the ground with a thud.

"Y/N!" He shouts, getting up, hands outstretched. Y/N? Y/N? Papyrus doesn't call you by name! You struggle to your feet, stumbling away from him, just when Sans appears. Oh fuck, you're really screwed now.

"I-I'm sorry," you begin. "I didn't mean to..." fuck, he didn't ask you to speak, what are you doing? Your mouth snaps shut. Sans, at least, looks like himself. Mostly. His eye seems bigger- though perhaps that's a trick of the mind- and his teeth are blunt. His attire is different, too, muted, most of it being in shades of gray and white with the only black being his shorts. You can't read his expression as he takes in the situation, and you realize you've been staring directly into his face. Immediately, you drop your gaze, a slight tremor running up your aching spine.

"What the fuck happened?" He asks, finally.

General:

All are veteran competitors, having fought since day one.

Some are famous. Others more infamous. Then some of them are not well known but very skilled.

All are friendly towards one another and consider themselves something of a team when it's not about beating each other up. Though not all of them are besties. Some of em do fight.

Tend to hang around the Koopalings, Pokemon, Mario Characters and Sonic.

Most are Asian (or like. splatoon era equivalent), or at least partially so. I'll be referring to them all by our current day regions for convenience but yknow it's more like. Splatoon version. I assume most Inklings are situated around asia but that they are pretty worldwide or at least span far enough to have different ethnicities.

Tomboyish, not fond of anything too "girly" though she has a soft spot for some cute mascot characters and some pretty stationary.

On the same team as Blue in their homeworld. They're sort of like Goggles and Specs (but not bc i haven't read coroika) though Blue is less zany and Mica is a bit more of an asshole.

Takes time to warm up to people.

Closest to Blue and Hikaru. Also friendly with Rory though she is very insistent that he needs to lighten up. Gets along well enough with Jett and Orange though he tends to piss them both off a little. Yara is ok w/ them. They don't get along with Nasubi that much.

Keeps a diary and sketchbook. Scarily defensive and secretive about both.

When she's not with the other ink fish she's hanging around Dark Pit, the Kirby Gang, Jigglypuff and the Princesses. She sees the latter bunch as older sister or motherly figures and goes to them for advice.

Also very curious about the villains.

Small lil crush on Sephiroth. Though an innocent passing phase, the few smashers who do know fear the prospect of Sephiroth finding out lest he use it to manipulate her (think ace and buttercup in that one ep of ppg)

Doesn't have a good home life. It is acceptable and possible for inklings her age to spend a lot of time away from home and even move out for school or work, but she is working up the courage to do so. Until then she spends a lot of time at the mansion

A mimic octoling! From the outskirts of the Octarian territories, but moved/fled when he was around 11/12. Post WOL the secret is out. Normally his hair is either like the default punk cut or the scrapped haircut with bangs over the eyes.

Big on fashion as well, but more fond of DIY and thrifty trade than Mica's more pretentious taste.

Speaking of. Doesn't get along with Mica well. They clash a lot.

Gets into the most trouble of the bunch, often accidentally. Just has that sort of luck.

Street smart but scatterbrained and a big risk-taker. Tends to prefer what looks cool to what is practical. A little rough around the edges

Jokester, at times people get irritated that he doesn't seem to take anything seriously. Probably a self proclaimed "meme lord" at some point in his life.

Loves Diss-Pair, Sashimori and Dedf1sh. Anything rock or hip-hop.

Also a fan of omega 3 probably. Pro-salmonid which is another reason he doesn't like Mica, as they work for Grizzco.

Low grade punky-emo-somethin. Dresses the part a lil more outside of battles. likes a lot of y2k ish stuff

hi! first of all, thank you so much, that means a lot <3

secondly, there's a few steps:

In Game:

I use the graphics overhaul by simp4sims, it might look intimidating but its really simple if you follow the instructions!

I use Sunblind lighting overhaul by softerhaze for pretty lighting in game.

In the photos you've seen so far I use a very edited version of the daisies reshade by breezytrait bc for ages I couldn't get my MXAO to work in reshade. I've fixed that now (thanks to littlemisslollipops recent YT video lol) so I just use a slightly edited vers now (which you'll see as I post more)

Photoshop:

I use these photoshop templates by aliennooboo to get the shape of the post.

I use the colour pop action by lemonpixel but undo the top two overlays so its more subtle.

Then I tweak the brightness / contour & colour balance to bring back some of the cyan / blue in the photo

I use DeNoise & choose the ISO 400 one (literally no clue tbh, just makes it look smoother)

my favourite bit! I use Topaz Clean & the first Cartoon filter on 1 to achieve that smooth, cartoonish, almost painted look to my posts!

Finally, I add things like speech / thought bubbles, icons, and doodles to make it more fun!

I used this template by simpastels to make my NSB banner bc fiddling with dimensions gives me a headache <3
