ok here's the trick I use to find the ao3 fics that actually focus focus on my fav obscure background character instead of them just being tagged alongside a bajillion other characters and they do not have a main role

my heuristic is if they actually feature importantly in the fic, they should be mentioned in the summary somewhere

so I can throw a

summary:character_name

into the "Search within results" box and it will narrow the results accordingly

search terms with multiple words can be quoted:

summary:"character name with multiple words"

here's an example of what I mean:

why do some many people use a ship's romantic and platonic tag simultaneously on ao3. I feel like some people might not be aware of the difference between "&" (platonic) and "/" (romantic)? I understand there might be cases where there's some overlap between the two but 90% of the time these fics are just mistagged. if it's an ambiguous relationship or something, there's a tag for that (ambiguous relationships). if it's a friends to lovers fic it should still be tagged as romantic. the clue is in the name

Czerny/Ebenholz (no surprise from me) and...Archetto/Pinecone!

For Czernholz: The propaganda worked!! Kriede & Eben's relationship is still the standout in LE, but I really love Czerny and Eben's dynamic as well & they'd be a very fun pairing, I love Czerny constantly pushing him to be better Archetto/Pinecone: IDOL GIRLFRIEND IDOL GIRLFRIEND... based entirely on the skinline but a REALLY good concept from the skin line. Two thumbs up (but I can't put it as high as Czernholz LOL)
