More climate news that Republicans will tell you to ignore.
This is by Jeff Masters, a professional meteorologist and co-founder of Weather Underground – a pioneering weather site started in 1995.
September 2023 smashed the record for the most extreme month for heat in Earth’s history, recording the highest departure from average of any month in analyses dating back to 1850, said NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information on October 13. NOAA, NASA, Berkeley Earth, and the European Copernicus Climate Change Service all rated September 2023 as the warmest September on record, crushing the previous September record by a huge margin. And famed climate scientist James Hansen warned today that the world is on the verge of exceeding the 1.5 degree Celsius warming threshold seen as key to protecting the world’s people and ecosystems — a claim still hotly contested within climate science. According to NOAA, September global temperatures spiked to a remarkable 1.44 degrees Celsius (2.59°F) above the 20th-century average. The September 2023 global temperature anomaly of 0.46°C (0.83°F) surpassed the previous record-high monthly anomaly from March 2016 by 0.09°C (0.16°F). Using NASA data, September 2023 was 1.7 degrees Celsius above the temperature of the 1880-1899 period, which is commonly called “preindustrial” (the difference between the 1951-1980 baseline reported on the NASA website and the 1880-1899 period is 0.226°C). This is the first time that a monthly temperature has exceeded 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial temperature threshold in the NASA database.
Rightwingers make up bizarre excuses to keep us using fossil fuels. It's not unexpected that religion would make an appearance on the climate-denial stage. In the 2010s, hate monger Bryan Fisher told listeners and viewers that it was an insult to God not to use fossil fuels.
youtube
Back to reality...
The year-to-date period of January-September is the warmest on record globally. According to NOAA’s latest Global Annual Temperature Rankings Outlook and the statistical model it uses, there’s a greater than 99.5% chance of 2023 being the warmest year on record. At the start of this year, few experts foresaw 2023 as being a contender for Earth’s warmest year, as the bulk of El Niño’s warming comes during the second year of each El Niño rather than the first — so it’s possible that 2024 will be even warmer than this year.
There's a climate-denial industrial complex with deep pockets willing to spend big to buy politicians to keep fossil fuel corporations cranking out carbon.
We need to support viable candidates and politicians at every level of government who favor the transition to Earth-friendly energy.

wada sez: A mid-credits scene in the first Transformers movie showed Starscream jetting off into space to live another day; this strip gives him some introspection prior to that. I'm just gonna note that, funnily enough, there's not really anything in the movies themselves to support the idea of Starscream being actively traitorous. Dude's a snivelling sycophant, but a sincere one! Naturally expanded universe media has played up the classic Generation 1 persona, and this strip is no exception.

JEREMIAH FISHER x FEM! READER (ARGUMENT/MATURE FLUFF)
"he hurt you"
WARNINGS - arguing, mentions of alcohol, some mature descriptions, cussing
Tumblr media
Y/N
I was heated, I was upset, I was anything and everything all at once. Who wouldn’t be, after being so utterly embarrassed?
"Y/N, what the fuck?" a voice echoed behind me. The house was blasting with music and people were running up and down each corner. We were at the summer house, throwing one last party before the house sold.
Except, what would’ve been a perfect night, was ruined when my boyfriend, Jeremiah, went and fought my ex. Who, I should say, I had not a fucking clue would be invited.
I was upstairs in my room, after I had stomped away from the scene, but of course, Jere knew where I always was.
I turned around, turning face to face with him. His shirt was pulled in different areas, and he was panting heavily.
"What do you want?" I spat, crossing my arms. Jere could only do so much as look at me with the most pissed off expression in the world.
"Are you actually serious right now? One second I’m taking Bryan down, and the next, you’re fucking pissed with me? Without any explanation as to why?" Jere questioned, anger strung out in his tone. He had gotten closer, trying his best to not cause another scene.
"You just fucking embarrassed me, for no damn reason!" I yelled lowly, my fists were tight, and my knuckles were surely white. I was tense.
"How the hell are you embarrassed? He fucking hurt you, Y/N. That asshole deserves nothing but to be punched in the fucking gut." He explained, his hands in the air. "You’re making no sense right now."
I scoffed, questioning "And you somehow do?".
"Jeremiah, there was no fucking need to punch him, or do whatever the hell you thought you were doing. For one, we’ve been broken up for awhile now and he doesn’t give a shit. Two, why risk yourself getting hurt? That was just pure stupidity, because there was no reason for it to fucking happen!" I exclaimed, my mind was racing.
I knew I had gotten him, because now he was quiet. Maybe it was the beer that fucked him up too, but he had never reacted like this, ever.
"Y/N, you don’t understand." he said simply, his gaze away from me. "Then make me understand, Jere. What the fuck did you do that for?" I questioned.
He scoffed, licking his lips.
"Don’t you get it? He hurt you. He hurt the best fucking girl to ever walk his damn way. You were heartbroken for weeks, you didn’t sleep, you hardly ate. That hurt me, because I know you deserved more than the shit he pulled. I wanted you before he even had the chance to have you, and when you started dating him, all I hoped for was that he would treat you the way you deserved to be treated." Jeremiah explained, his expression going soft.
"Seeing the girl of my dreams get hurt by some no good asshole like him, hurt me on a personal level. Because you are fucking everything and more to me, Y/N." Jere finished. His eyes looked saddened and tired. I couldn’t help but feel for him.
I knew I made the right choice when I picked Jeremiah, he’d be the person I would get married to, the one who would father our children, the one by my side till the end.
I stepped toward him, cupping his face in one of my hands. His skin was smooth and delicate, just like him.
"Baby, please. I just don’t want you to get hurt. I get it, but nothing is worth more than having you here with me. Fully here with me." I stated, rubbing his cheek with my thumb.
He looked me in the eye, a smile now pulling on his face. He pulled me in closer with one of his hands.
Before I knew it, he had smashed his lips onto mine, holding my lower waist tightly. I smiled, kissing him back passionately.
The kiss intensified, clearly, the alcohol we consumed over the past few hours was starting to take over. Jere’s hands found its way lower than my waist, his hands now grabbing snd squeezing my ass. It didn’t help that I was wearing little tight shorts, but I was loving it.
I jumped onto Jere, and now he had me against the wall. The kiss became hungry, as we were practically fighting for each other’s throats with our tongues.
A small moan escaped my lips, and it was just enough to excite Jeremiah, whose hard was now rubbing against me. I felt my stomach knot, feeling the need for more Jere.
What could’ve been more was interrupted when we heard a voice at the door.
"Hey, I was trying to find you guys so-", the voice started. We knew that voice, Steven. Me and Jere pulled away so fast, as he steadied me so I could stand. "Uh you know what, catch up with y’all downstairs. S-sorry." he said quickly, rushing out.
Me and Jeremiah were still close, but obviously, we’d have to resume this another time. I looked at him as we both giggled, laughing at the replay of Steven’s face when he saw us.
Jere picked up my hand, squeezing it lightly. He went down to my ear, his hot breath sending shivers down my spine.
"I don’t think I can wait much longer, baby. How about we drive my car to the beach? Let me show you how sorry I really am." he whispered, pulling away to look me in the eyes. I smirked, I loved when he couldn’t resist.
I nodded, as he led me down to his car. The rest of the night was kind of a blur, but it was one of the best nights I had in awhile.

New Video: Joel Grey and Eddie Redmayne Talk CABARET and The 'Emcee' Legacy
Last night, the company and audience of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club celebrated Broadway legend Joel Grey’s 92nd birthday on stage at the August Wilson Theatre.
By: A.A. CristiApr. 12, 2024, Broadway World.

Redmayne described the feeling of performing for Grey and the show's composer, John Kander as "extraordinary, horrendously intimidating, as well, but joyful," and revealed a special moment he shared with the star during the performance.
Grey, who originated the role of the ‘Emcee’ on Broadway in 1966 and went on to star in the beloved film of Cabaret, took the stage as the entire cast, band, and creative team sang “Happy Birthday” while a custom cake, shaped like a giant pineapple, emerged from the stage.
During his speech honoring Grey, Eddie Redmayne said, “Tonight is an extraordinarily special night for us because we are in the presence of an extraordinary human being without whom none of us would be here.” After thunderous applause, Redmayne continued “Your performance in this part changed my life and it was one of the things that made me want to be an actor.”
The cast and Grey were also joined on stage by Cabaret composer John Kander.
Alongside Joel’s daughter Jennifer Grey and Kander, a star-studded crowd came out to fete the theater icon including Anderson Cooper, Candice Bergen, Jackie Hoffman, Jane Krakowski, Lin-Manuel Miranda, David Rockwell, and more. They were joined by numerous alum of Cabaret spanning the decades including Maude Apatow (Sally Bowles in London, 2023), Madeline Brewer (Sally Bowles in London, 2022), Joely Fisher (Sally Bowles on Broadway, 2000), Gina Gershon (Sally Bowles on Broadway, 2001), Mason Alexander Park (Emcee in London, 2023), Adam Pascal (Emcee on Broadway, 2003), Molly Ringwald (Sally Bowles on Broadway, 2002), Jake Shears (Emcee in London, 2023), and Brooke Shields (Sally Bowles on Broadway, 2001).

I’ve been holding onto this info for like 2 weeks ever since I saw Billie Lourd follows Nick Thimm lol so here’s a lore dump if you’d like: Nick is related to Bruce Bozzi somewhere, there’s a Thimm in his family, and Bruce Bozzi is married to Bryan Lourd, who had Billie with Carrie Fisher, and he’s also CEO and co-chairman of CAA. This is such a small world lmao
Ok all these connections likely at the wedding. Can they make this happen:
Tumblr media
Jk, I know Daniel will spend a moment letting his brain adjust to who these people are and then, he’ll charm the socks right off them and Bryan will be calling his Hollywood contacts for him
